Wallmart On-Line.......2005-10-08
I never received the product despite desperately trying to correct your error in persisting to consider my two-year's old address current. And because you refuse to have any vital contact with your customers but merely treat them as numbers I've decided never to do business with your Brave New World monolith again. Thanks for nothing. The money I lost due to your policy of disconnectedness from your buyers was well worth the result.
Three screenplays by the Modern American Chekov.......2002-04-28
I still remember watching "To Kill a Mockingbird" in the theater, absolutely stunned that the jury had convicted Tom Robinson when it was so clear, so perfectly clear and obvious to even a kid in grade school, that Atticus Finch had proved he was innocent. Horton Foote's screenplay for "To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of three collected in this volume, along with "Tender Mercies" and "The Trip to Bountiful." They represent three different types of screenwriting experiences since the first is adapted form a novel, the second from Foote's own stage play, and the third a work originally conceived as a film. Perhaps it is somewhat ironic that Foote won Oscars for the two adaptations. All three reflect Foote's emphasis on character development and dialogue rather than action and spectacle.
I taught Harper Lee's novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" and screened the movie for an assignment in which students had to compare and contrast the novel with the film. Perhaps the best testament I can give to the quality fo Foote's script is that while students would always come up with favorite scenes from they book they wish had been in the film (number one choice was the hermaphrodite snowman the kids built), there was never a serious argument that Foote had left out something important. For me what stands out is how Foote picked up on one of my favorite parts of the novel, which was the nobility of Jem. The story is primarily about Scout and Atticus, not to mention Boo Radley, but it was Jem who also impressed me, and Foote captures that nobility in several key scenes. If you have a copy of the screenplay, then it is a lot easier to help students with that particular assignment, which always produces solid results.
Great Book.......1999-06-23
This is a really great book for people who like Foote's work. If you do not especially enjoy reading Foote (or watching his plays), I would not suggest this book. The character devolopment in each of the stories is fanatical and the introductions show what was happening at the time when he wrote each play. Also, you get three plays in one book. For a Foote fan, not much could be better.

Book Description
Is She Really Leaving Forever?
Mary Martha was the only woman to capture his heart. But now she was preparing to leave the Dakota Territory. Was her good-bye forever?
Jump into the Red River of the North series and learn why readers across the country are clamoring for each new book in this historical series.
Tracing the difficulties and joys of carving out a life from the Dakota sod in the second half of the 1800s, Tender Mercies continues Snelling's Red River saga and will pull your heartstrings and make you feel the joys and frustrations of life on the open lands of the 19th century mid-west.
The rich farmlands of the Dakota Territory in 1887 are finally beginning to yield the abundant harvest the pioneers had dreamed about so long. The establishment of the railroad has brought significant changes to the small town of Blessing as well as prosperity to the Bjorklund family and their neighbors.
Among the townsfolk, Reverend John Solberg despite being wary of matchmaking efforts in the past is developing a friendship with a delightful young woman through their common love of books. Mary Martha has a gentle southern charm that wins everyone in her circle but too soon she is called on to return home to care for her mother. She leaves behind many heavy hearts and countless questions of whether it will be the last time to see her.

Great new character - Mary Martha.......2003-04-08
This is a very sad book at times with many deaths, but I love the new characters that were added. I think it was high time that the Pastor got a wife. Although many people complained they wanted more happiness, that wasn't the truth of homesteading or actually any lives in the 19th century.
I love these Books!.......2001-09-09
After growing up Norwegian in the Red River Valley I love these books dearly. They are such a sweet tale of how God loves his children even through the difficult times-which were many out on the frontier. Many say this book is depressing but I found it more realistic than most portraying life on the prairie.
Tragedy ,heartbreak and potpourri.......2001-06-08
Book 5 of this series was sort of a hodgepodge about too many people, and there was a lot of death. The pastor is featured more as the teacher of the school. Zeb's sister Mary Martha is prominent and Singer Sewing machines are introduced into the community. This causes a huge rift between Penny and Goldie. Ingeborg remains unable to conceive. Sign language has come to Blessing in order to help little Grace communicate. A fire in the grain house takes the life of a man traveling through. Politics are in full gear, with debates and Hjelmer traveling for meetings. Mary Martha is called back home to nurse her ailing mother. Little Anna contracts whooping cough and dies. Perhaps the central tragedy occurs with Katy during childbirth. Personally, I hope this book is a bridge to a happier conclusion of this series with book #6.
To many Deathes , full of Depressing stuff.......2000-11-11
I found this book to be very depressing. First Ingeborg loses the baby in book 4 and is unable to have an other one. Haaken never has a son that he and Ingeborg want. When Katy died while having her's and Zeb's baby that was too much. I had grown to like Katy and Zeb and the author took both of them out along with the baby. Way did she make Zeb leave when Deborah and Manda needed him? It just depresses me. Then she thinks she can replace Zeb and Katy with Zeb's sister and the pastor. The only thing that could keep me reading the series is if Zeb comes back. I wonder if Laurine Snelling every had a happy childhood. I as a 14 year old didn't like the deathes or the depressing stuff that was in her book.
I felt somewhat cheated.......2000-05-30
I enjoyed this book in the series, just as I have enjoyed the others, however, I felt cheated! The author took great strides in laying the foundation and introducing us to Inegborg and Kaaren Bjouklund. Through the first three books, we learned all about these two sisters (in-laws). Now, they have been set to the back burner as minor characters. I would have liked to see these characters evolve, how the children grow up and how they grow old and become grandmothers. I have little feeling for the new characters that have been introduced because we know so little about them. This is a good book, but for completion, I would have rather followed the lives of Inegborg and Kaaren.
Book Description
In Tough Love, Tender Mercies, Harper takes readers on a journey through the books of Hosea, Zephaniah, and Malachi. And to keep the excursion interesting, she compares each prophet's story with a contemporary movie theme. In her first stop, Lisa compares Julia Roberts's turn as a prostitute in Pretty Woman to God's merciful treatment of Gomer in Hosea. In her second stop, Harper parallels Morgan Freeman's tough-love principal, Joe Clarke, in Lean on Me to God's holiness in Zephaniah. Finally, in her third stop, she takes readers to the hardscrabble hometown of Malachi, where a pack of Scarlet O'Hara wannabes learn how to hold on to hope when their biblical Tara is trashed.
Features:
- Second in a series written specifically to help people better engage with and understand the Bible.
- Interactive DVD of the author's own book group discussing select questions from each chapter.
- Unique (and refreshing) questions thoughout each chapter get the reader thinking of how to apply biblical truths to their own life journey.

Practical, Inspiring and Challenging.......2005-06-12
I loved this book! As a busy mom who still wants to cultivate my spiritual life and become more intimate with Jesus, I drank up Guffey's lyrical prose. She is a talented writer with a transparent heart. I was convicted, inspired and encouraged by this book. It came at just the right time, and said just the right things. Thank you, Angela!!!
PRICELESS WISDOM.......2003-02-25
Awesome, powerful book. It gave me much needed wisdom on parenting, motherhood, and Christ - all of which I needed to hear the very moment I read it! Wonderful book! I will always cherish it.
what a blessing.......2002-05-29
I can relate to this book. It has convicted me, challenged me, and encouraged me in my realtionship with Christ, my husbnad, and my child.
a life changer.......2001-07-25
I cannot say enough about this book. I am a stay at home mom of 3 under 5 and managed to read this in a weekend! I felt like the author came over for coffee and stayed a while. What a blessing. My book club just finished discussing it and it is a favorite for each of us. I mailed a copy to five other friends. If you are in the midst of motherhood, please do your soul a favor and read this wonderful book.
A Wonderful Book!.......2001-05-16
This book really tends to a mother's soul. In a realistic way she portrays a mother's everyday life and shows how we can keep our relationship with God a priority during this season of life. I learned a lot from this book and I'm sure others will love it too.

THIS IS WATERED DOWN AND CHANGED.......2006-11-03
This book is a poor attempt at modern revision. It is totally ruined and changed. In my opinion it does not come near the value of the originals. If you want a good story, get the original Elsie classics.
One of the best Elsie books ever!.......2004-03-17
This is the first of the "A Life of Faith" series that I have read, and I loved it. I read it all in one night, and it was so interesting!
Since I have read all of the original Elsie books I understood it all, and they made Elsie much more human. She had her bad days and flashes of temper, but she is always ready to apologize and makes a much better role model than the original Elsie.
I highly recommend this book, and all of the other Life of Faith books. I can't wait to read them all!
Battle at Ion.......2003-07-18
Elsie has had a major influence on my life. The Travillas come home and find destruction. Then, an old enemy by the name of Tom Jackson, meets them again by a ku Klux klan attack on Ion plantation. It was a great book. I read that one over and over.
The Best Elsie Book Ever!.......2003-06-06
This book is really great. Read it!
Going home.......2001-06-26
The war is over and Elsie and her family have returned home only to find hearts are still bitter over the war and not very many in the south are willing to join the south with the union again.Love is the main factor as the Dinsmores and Travillas open their hearts to everyone even family members that are against them.

Review of Forgiven Forever.......2006-05-04
A big robber of joy and happiness in life is the resentment we carry toward others and ourselves. Self righteousness may motivate us to harbor the resentment against others, shame causes us to harbor it against ourselves. In both instances the resentment we carry is self-destructive. We must learn to forgive others and ourselves. The life we may destroy if we don't forgive is our own! Joe Beam does an excellent job of helping us understand key biblical texts and our own aberrant behavior with a view toward experiencing forgiveness. A great resource for Bible classes or for one's own personal study, reflection and growth. Don't let pent up anger and resentment devastate your life or that of your family. Get this book and begin healing today.
A Logical and Biblical Book.......2000-12-09
This book is not what some might think by seeing the title. It is not affirming the theory of "once saved always saved." Rather Joe Beam refreshes the soul and mind by Biblically explaining how God forgives.
Joe presents a very important study within the book regarding Legal guilt and personal guilt. This study is worth the price of the Book. His best book is "Seeing the Unseen."
Learn how God wants to forgive you and enjoy it........1998-09-03
Ever wondered if God really forgave you for something? Have trouble forgiving yourself for something you did or didn't do yesterday or years ago? If you answer yes to any of the above, you must read this book. Joe, in an easy reading format, gives great insight into the subject of God's Grace, our need for it, and how to know it works for you.
AWESOME!! Run, don't walk to your nearest book store!.......1998-05-15
If you have trouble understanding God's forgivness, this book is for you. It has changed my life. It lays out in detail how God works in our life to help us forgive our self so we may heal. It removes the stumbling blocks that keeps us from receiving God's mercy and grace! It is a book to read and reread. One that would be a blessing for bible study. I encourage anyone that has been fighting this battle or that knows someone is going through one, to get a copy and share it with others.

Sad, but a touching book.......2000-10-31
I really thought this book was touching to me. In her life she had one sister and one brother. Her parents died when she was at a young age. When she grew up she wanted to be just like her dad. Her dad use to care for the poor. In Catherine's life she moved a lot. She to love Jesus. She was giving to the poor just like her dad. She became one of the first Sister of Mercy. I think people would be touched by this book and will treasure it for ever.
Sad, but a beautiful book.......2000-10-31
I loved this book because it was very touching and sweet. In here life she moved a lot and both of her parents died when she was very young. She wanted to be just like her father. He gave to the poor. As on her journey to be like Jesus it was up and downs but she became one of the first Sister of Mercy. I would tell everyone in the world to read it. They would become more like Jesus.

Lucid and disturbing, eloquent and passionate, Tender Mercies is a must-read for professionals and laypeople alike!
Customer Reviews:
Pretty good but not for students.......2007-03-02
I gave this book 4 stars because it was a very good, easy read. The author did a great job, and Keith Richards does a good job of being honest about portraying the image of how the social workers real life is in this field. It doesn't give a lot of detail on the cases themselves and I wouldn't recommend it to students because it doesn't make the field sound too great. I'd recommend it to people just to enjoy but as far as case studies ..Nah. I think anyone could read this book. I wished it had more detail about the cases themselves though.
Still a pretty good read

So real, so encouraging.......2007-06-03
I love Angela Thomas and that she is so real. This book gives hope to the frazzled mom in the midst of it all and gives true encouragement for the soul. She hits the nail on the head about what it means to truly be a godly woman, wife, and mommy.
Refreshing and well-written.......2006-11-06
This book is a definite read for any woman in the throes of motherhood. The book is well written, and Angela Thomas is an authentic voice that is refreshing to read. I will definitely be rereading this book.
