Book Description
Dubric Bryerly woke to find a ghost next to his bed this morning. It's the fourteenth this year.
Thus begins Dubric Bryerly's entrance into the most chilling investigation of his long career as the head of security at Faldorrah's castle keep. Not long after the first body is discovered, savagely disfigured, a second comes to light, also violently mutilated. And over the next few weeks, another, and another, and another. Each one announced by the arrival of a silent, gruesome ghost that only Dubric can see. Haunted by these silent spectres, and his dark secret, Dubric must use the rudimentary forensics available to him to uncover the identity of a ruthless serial killer living within the very castle walls and bring him to justice before he kills again. But the killer seems to be practically invisible, leaving no sign of himself even as he slips past a guarded post to kill again -- and all signs point to the worst of all possible suspects, the king's own grandson. As the pressure mounts, so does the danger...will Dubric manage to find the killer before another girl dies, or before the frightened and frustrated castle inhabitants rise up against the very man sworn to protect them?
A combination of forensics, fantasy, and sheer horror, this fast-paced "historical" thriller will have readers on the edge of their seats.

Customer Reviews:
started out OK, but..........2007-03-16
I bought this book a while ago, and only recently got around to finishing it. While it started out OK, it quickly became boring and predictable. The characters are shallow and poorly developed. The love story is trite and sickening to read, the author is entirely too fond of the word "snuggled", and the language is downright silly. One character actually thought "darn it", and the use of the word "pegging" gets old after a while.
Some of the murders could have been pulled straight from descriptions of Jack the Ripper's crimes. The last murder that the killer commits is especially close to that of Mary Kelly, right down to the face slashed beyond recognition and the pile of flesh on the bedside table. It was as though the author simply used Mary Kelly's murder as the base for the final killing in her book, and added on a few extra details to make it seem like she thought it up.
There's not much character development going on. We learn a little bit more about Lars, but his back story with his father seems to be thrown in there as an afterthought. Nella gets irritating after a while. As others have mentioned, she ends up "mewling" in her lover's arms.
The author doesn't develop the killer's character enough. He's more like a background character than anything, only coming into focus every now and then.
All in all, this book just didn't do it for me. It was an interesting concept, but very poorly executed.
"You're not going to ask to look inside my shorts, are you?".......2007-01-12
Dubric Byerly is chief of security at Castle Faldorrah. Cursed by his goddess for forsaking her, he now sees the ghosts of all those murdered within his jurisdiction - ghosts that won't go away until their killer is caught. His current case involves the murder and mutilation of several maids, none of which seem to bear any real connection to one another. A parallel story concerns the love affair between one Prince Risley and a linen maid named Nella. Through a series of unfortunate circumstances, Risley becomes the prime suspect in the murders, an accusation which could result in civil war.
The idea of a forensic thriller in a medieval setting is an intriguing one, but this book has a lot of problems, the biggest one being that there isn't any mystery. Risley is the only suspect they ever have, and such an obvious one that the reader knows it can't really be him. From the start everything points to him and he never does anything to improve his case; it is like a comedy of errors but a tedious one. The real killer is, in fact, not even introduced as a character until the last quarter of the book, cheating the reader entirely. So inept are Dubric and his officers that this character is revealed entirely by chance, making all the prior procedural - roughly 400 pages worth - a complete waste of time.
Other aspects of this novel are no better. The chracters are flat and their world feels hollow, with only occasional background references that make the reader feel as if he or she has missed out on something. The romantic storyline is positively nauseating to endure. The dialogue and language needs work as it is frequently anachronistic - would people of this time really say "gadgets" instead of "instruments" or "devices?" And made-up profanities are silly.
All of these are issues which could have been fixed or improved by editing. The book feels like a first draft rushed out without anyone having gone over it.
good not great.......2007-01-11
The author really is quite a good writer. My only problem with this book is that is drags in the middle becoming a little too long until finally reaching the climaxic ending, which is very good.
Ghosts in the Snow.......2006-08-24
The story captivates you from page one and keeps you intrested well into the end. I cannot wait to read the next book. It is Quency in the middle ages with a twist of the fey and other great details not to be mentioned for spoilage.
EWWWW....tell me more!.......2006-04-01
I'd been waiting for this book ever since I'd heard Tamara describe it, and boy, was it more than I expected! Ummm...ewww. He did what to whom? Ewwwww! Can't put the book down!
The emphasis in this book is clearly on the mystery, not the characters, though, as most mysteries are. The puzzle pieces fall together quite nicely, although I did figure out who the killer was at one specific page which I won't give away.
(Ironically, the mystery readers I talked to said they couldn't figure out the killer until the end, where most of the non-mystery readers said they knew approximately the same place I did.)
Ghosts in the Snow is a post-apocolyptic forensic horror story that doesn't hide from the most intimate details and reasonings. Tamara doesn't bother hiding the fact that her killer is a psychopath with nothing redeemable about him, which I applaud. Too many writers take the "noble villain" idea too seriously. She doesn't. She allows her villain to be mentally sick and twisted with a reasoning all his own that isn't based on anything "normal" people would consider sane.
I also loved her use of dialogue. *claps wildly for the awesome dialect writing*
Overall, if you like CSI: anywhere, or Crossing Jordan, or any other forensic show, pick up TSJ's books. You'll love them.

SCOOBY-DOO AND THE SNOW MONSTER.......2003-11-15
SCOOBY-DOO and the gang are going to Big Pine Mountain for a ski weekend. They meet up with Cindy, Terrence ,and Skakey. While Scooby goes sking,an Sakey attacks himm thinking hes the snow monster .BUT HES NOT! WOH WILL SAVE THIS SNOWY DAY?
Slipping and Sliding in the Snow with Scooby........2002-04-15
Scooby and the gang are headed for a weekend of skiing and winter fun at the Big Pine Ski Lodge. However, when they arrive the slopes are abandoned and the lodge is almost empty. Rumors and sightings of a snow monster have scared most people away. But, Fred, Daphne, and Velma aren't scared of anything (Scooby and Shaggy are scared of just about everything) and have a hunch that the snow monster isn't what it appears to be. A fun and entertaining book that I enjoyed reading. I especially liked the scenes with Scooby and the snowballs. Kids will probably enjoy this book as will any Scooby-Doo fan.
Excellent Movie!.......1999-03-20
I love this Scooby Doo movie! It's one of the best that I have ever seen. I love it because it's in a setting of snow and I love how Scooby and the gang solve the mystery! I definetly recommend!

Book Description
They are the damned, the forgotten-those who cry out to let us know they lived. They are all ages and all sexes. They remain earthbound for many reasons-duty, devotion, a sense of responsibility, but most of all for the simplest and most compelling reason of all: love. Come explore the vast land that is Russia, from the metropolitan streets of Moscow to the windswept steppes and farflung plains of Siberia. Discover the strange tales of those whose lives have continued long after their bodies perished, and whose restless spirits yet leave footprints in the Russian snows.
Customer Reviews:
Haunting.......2007-07-12
Footprints is a beautifully written selection of stories relating tales of ghosts in Russia. Russia does not ignore it's ghosts but accepts them as very real, and where possible does what it can to release them from their entrapment on earth.
This is also a revealing insight into some of the beauty and history of Russia and gives the reader as sense of having actually been there.
I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to discover that not all ghosts jump out and say 'Boo' or are in any way frightening.
A Fascinating Trip Through Russian Hauntings.......2007-07-04
This book has made me want to learn more about Russian history! Not the typical dramas of Rasputin - these lesser-known stories are extremely well written and based in factual events. I plan to learn more about the Decemberist rebellion and the effects of WWII on Moscow. These are short stories (if I may say so, perfect for bathroom reading!) Fascinating and an excellent read!
Footprints in the Snow.......2007-06-19
Great book, started reading it and couldn't put it down. Excellent reading, very well written. Love it, Love it, Love it.
Awesome read.......2007-06-07
I would highly recommend this book to anyone!! But be forewarned as you won't want to put it down! I will definitly buy another book by this author!
Slumber Party Time.......2007-05-31
We are always looking for something fun for our slumber parties, and
my Mom had purchased this book. She told me to read it because it is
easy to read, set story by story, and I could just put it down and pick
it up. With a foreign Russian exchange student as part of our group, it
seemed just the right thing to read a story about her country. Wow did
we have fun that night and it wasn't so scary we couldn't sleep, but it
took us to another country and time. Thanks!

Book Description
This book is about Connecting to God. Are humans hard-wired to receive intuitive information from their Creator? How does a person discern between spiritual gifts from God and what is not of God? This book bridges the gap between spirituality and religion, by showing that God has historically used supernatural intervention to connect with Him to help ourselves and others, and continues to today. This is a self-help book, highlighting methods, games, testimonials and prayers that we can use to freely choose to yield to the ¿God-Spot¿ and see His Power manifest in our lives and those we love. Psychic Gifts in the Christian Life cuts across any barriers of religious prejudice or worldly psychology. Also, scriptures abound to direct those within Christianity to accept the gifts as a natural part of their faith and humanity, promoting awareness with historical application. This book may be heralded as one of the most profound books of the new century, revealing the desire of God to connect with His children and our ability to receive. Written by Tiffany Snow, a stigmata-bearer, evidence-based miracle healer and intuitive. Blessed Tiffany¿s near-death experience by lightning strike began her empirical revelations that bring people from all over the world to hear her inspired words and be touched by her miraculous hands. Each reading will lead you to a new level of understanding, ability and insight, as it undeniably expands, and positively changes, your own Divine reality. Activate spiritual gifts in your daily life!

She is a Gifted Healer and Minister, and hers is a rare combination of many extraordinary abilities and humility, of personal experience and light humor, with an undertone of wisdom and love. She simply calls herself, "A Worker for The Big Guy." Finally, a book that bridges the gap and speaks frankly about God's Supernatural Gifts as a natural and normal part of spiritual life. Customer Reviews:
Amazing book even for a non Christian.......2007-04-06
I was given this book. I probably would never have purchased as I was raised with Hell Fire and Damnation Born Again family. I have had enough of shame based guilt! But her book is a perfect book for those who of all denominations and those who chose to be with out a formal church. I am an educated person pursuing her doctorate in psychology, as such I am a skeptic of much. This book transcends all of the books I have read so far, including Tolle, Browne, Renard,Choquette, Althea, Van Pragh you name it. I have used the techniques in the book and and I have had amazing things happen. Tiffany Snow is truly in the light.
Heart warming, compassionate and enlightening for sure........2006-06-20
This is the best book I have read. I read daily and read multiple books in a month and this is by far the bestbook with so much heart, compassion, important and invaluable information in it for everyone. Tiffany Snow is an awesome, down to earth, and compassionate person who lives her life for God and is the happier and better for it. She is free of the ties that bind us and gives from the heart and this book and her other books and her daily life are examples of the compassion and giving this woman has been given and all I can say is "Thank you God for Tiffany Snow". She can show you the REAL God and the REALITY of life in this world and how to enhance your life so you can be happy, healthy, free and get to know the only person who really matters, "GOD". I found this book to be full of wonderful heartfelt stories and examples of how everyone should live their lives to get the most out of them and to serve God, which is the whole reason we are here to begin with. Tiffany Snow sees that and has dedicated her life to it and I for one applaud the work she does and thank God for her and all the ways HE lets Tiffany's light shine through for the rest of us. We could all learn a big lesson from Tiffany and if you read the book and get nothing more than happiness and a sense of feeling good about what she does, then you will have gained a lot from the book and Tiffany. I hope you will read this wonderful book that has something to offer everyone even if it is just in telling of her adventures with others. Please do yourself a favor and read this marvelous book. I don't think you will be sorry you did.
wow.......2006-01-02
Hands down, this book is the most idiotic Christian propaganda I have ever read.
Unique and Profound Read.......2005-03-24
THE only book ever written that is both ALL PSYCHIC and ALL RELIGIOUS, perhaps it's the only one! Unique understandings, different from most NDE books - has exercises to wake up the NDE in all of us. Some spiritual books have an air of cult about them, this book has no such thing. Great, great, great read.
Great Book, new concepts, new experiences.......2005-03-13
Dr. Snow has a unique look on the supernatural world from a "birds-eye" view of her own personal near-death experience. From this, she came out from a strict religious background to a place of openness and spirituality, and brings the reader along with her like a best friend. Well-written, humorous at times, and light hearted, this author shows how the average person can develop the abilities for healing, finding missing children, etc. There are numerous personal accounts of her doing these things, and doing them well. Since she came into this "new life" from no previous background involved with the metaphysical, there is very little here that duplicates any other book, it is refreshing and insightful. I give it a big thumbs up.

Good collection in a great series.......2006-10-15
Throughout the two decades from 1964 to 1984, Fontana published a remarkable skein of ghost story collections, piloted by R. Aikman and later by R. Chetwynd-Hayes, no mean supernatural authors themselves. Some of the paperbacks in this series, which winds its way up to the "20th Fontana Book of Great Ghost Stories" are now collectors' items and worth over a hundred dollars apiece.
For this fourth book in the series, Robert Aickman selected eleven supernatural tales, including Alexander Pushkin's "The Queen of Spades" which was also made into an opera--an unusual fate for a ghost story!
These are the tales in the 4th Fontana Book of Great Ghost Stories:
"The Accident" by Ann Bridge--Many great ghost stories are set in the Alps and this is one of them. A pair of climbers, brother and sister, come across a set of tracks that begin in an open snowfield, near the place where two other climbers had fallen to their deaths a month earlier. Then the sister begins to receive postcards from one of the dead climbers.
"Not on the Passenger List" by Barry Pain--A young widow takes passage on a ship to England, where she is to remarry. Her late husband appears in her cabin and tries to persuade her to drown herself.
"The Sphinx without a Secret" by Oscar Wilde--Aikman cheated by including this story, which has no ghost. A mysterious young woman is confronted by her fiancé, who breaks off their engagement.
"When I was Dead" by Vincent O'Sullivan--A young man witnesses his own funeral.
"The Queen of Spades" by Alexander Pushkin--An 87-year-old Countess dies before revealing her supposed secret for winning at cards. Her ghost appears to the man who frightened her to death, revealing the cards he needed to play in order to win a fortune. Would you trust the ghost of the woman you frightened to death?
"Pargiton and Harby" by Desmond MacCarthy-- Harby meets his old friend, Pargiton who seems to be making amends for an ill-spent life. Pargiton begs Harby to visit him, because he seems to bring out the best in the reformed evil-doer. Harby comes, but so does something else.
"The Snow" by Hugh Walpole--The two Mrs. Ryders, one of them dead, battle over their meek, inoffensive husband.
"Carlton's Father" by Eric Ambrose--I would classify this story as science fiction, since it involves a time warp, disguised as a room in Carlton's house, where no-one ages.
"A School Story" by M.R. James--Two men reminisce over the ghost stories that were told about their public schools. One of them concerns a master with a homicidal past.
"The Wolves of Cernogratz" by Saki--Wolves howl around the castle when one of the Cernogratz family dies.
"Mad Monkton" by William Wilkie Collins--Generations of the reclusive Monkton family suffered from hereditary insanity. Alfred, last of the Monkton line falls in love with the beautiful young Ada, but before he can propose to her, he must travel to Italy to recover the body of his Uncle Stephen, the black sheep of the Monkton family, who was killed in a duel. Everyone thinks Alfred is crazy for trying to recover the body, but an old family prophecy and the ghost of Uncle Stephen urge him onward.

Book Description
In the seventh installment of the Journeys of the Stranger series, legendary hero John Stranger is called in to track the "ghost" of a murder he captured three years earlier, in Butte, Montana -- a man who had vowed to come back from the grave to kill the judge, the jury, Sheriff Johnson ... and John Stranger. Now, the jury members are turning up dead, and the people of Butte fear that Payton has come back to have his vengeance. Crow Indian legend indicates that the killer has come back as a snow ghost -- a human-shaped shadow that can be seen moving amid the falling snow. Certain that the killer is no phantom, the Stranger sets out to find the true murderer and bring him to justice in Snow Ghost.

The Snow
By: Caroline B. Cooney
The Schooner Inne is an odd place to keep girls. According to Christina Romney the owners are evil, and strange things happen to the girls. This book "The Snow" by Caroline Cooney is about Christina's experience at Schooner Inne.
This book is about a girl named Christina, who is 13. She lives at Schooner Inne, with the Shevvingtons - they own the Inne. She believes that any girl who stays at Schooner Inne, will go insane because the Shevvingtons drive them to insanity. People on the Island think that Christina is a trouble maker because she is always complaining about the Shevvingtons being evil.
This is an example from the book that she is making trouble, "You still don't understand! Listen to me. For once, listen to me! The Shevvingtons gave him his orders. They planned this. They trained him." Christina said.

The greatest evil.......2005-06-15
In the world, the greatest evil is the one in people you think you can trust. That is the Sevingtons. They are evil on two legs. They also embody the greatest fear. The fear of when you are right, and in danger, but nobody belives you. Book two of three.
ice cold terror..........2005-04-06
Anya Rothrock has officially lost it. After a terrifying near death experience that landed her boyfriend in a boarding school far away from her, she now floats around town like a wraith. Christina knows that it was the Shevvingtons who destroyed Anya. They are creepy, evil people, but no one seems to see that but Christina. Now they have brought in a new victim: Dolly, Christina's best friend, fresh from Burning Fog Island. They want to destroy her like they did Anya! They capitalize on her fear of heights like they did Anya's fear of the sea. On top of Christina's growing fear for Dolly and her horror of the Shevvingtons, she's hearing creepy noises from the cellar....is she next on the Shevvington's list?

Unique, beautiful.......2007-01-16
We loved this book. Kids can discover the story for themselves, or younger kids can talk it through with you. We saw it as a wolf keeping watch over the boy, but you can make up your own words.
