Book Description
"Children Left Behind: The Dark Legacy of Indian Mission Boarding Schools is a must read. Tim Giago, who spent his childhood at one of these schools, examines the unholy alliance between church and state that tried to destroy the culture and spirituality of generations of Indian children. Provocative, riveting, chilling, persuasive, and original, this book leaves the reader overwhelmed. Describing almost inexpressible cruelties and triumphs, Giago pulls us into the boarding school experience. He challenges Indian Country to co-exist with the truth of what actually happened at these schools. Only then can we heal and avoid acquiescence to a system that has crushed so many souls. The book is a triumph, and a major event in Indian education." Ryan Wilson, Oglala Lakota, President, National Indian Education Association
"Children Left Behind is a sad story of a nation's best intentions gone awry. Tim Giago's personal accounts reveal an untold tragedy of abuse of helpless children by those who had the responsibility to protect them. To fully understand the calamity, you need only to visit the graveyards of the old boarding schools and see the hundreds of graves of Indian children who did not survive the misguided assimilation efforts." Richard B. Williams, Oglala Lakota, President & CEO, American Indian College Fund
"Children Left Behind, written by respected journalist Tim Giago, is a fascinating mix of personal stories and history about the role of government and mission boarding schools in the lives of Native people. The book provides the reader with the cultural and historical context for many of the problems encountered by Native American families in the early 21st century." (Wilma Mankiller, Former Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation)

Good Adventure in the Diablo Universe.......2007-09-20
Richard Knaak did a great job at taking the atmosphere and setting of Diablo and creating a good adventure story.
He was able to create a good adventure, and good characters, within the constrains of the Diablo Universe. The creatures, magic items, cities, and demonic possession all play a role in this story.
The book is well written and fast paced. If you want a good adventure story in a familiar setting, pick this one up.
Very Decent.......2007-09-19
This book however having little to do with he actual game itself is a good read. Taking away the knowledge of what you know from the game you can put yourself in this world hidden behind Tristum's story and the story from the second Diablo game. Places were The Legacy of Blood is set. Conquering the enemy in an adversary and also as yourself finding what mattered to you the most. Action, Adventure and wow great detail. I think this book was superb but not fantastic.
A legacy of too many adjectives.......2006-12-29
I recently bought four of Knaak's Diablo books, and 1/3 of the way through reading this (the first I picked up) I threw it down in disgust. This is essentially fanfiction, and there's no such thing as well written fanfiction. In a single paragraph Knaak describes a necromancer as a dark mage, an enchantress, a witch, and perhaps throughout an entire chapter with the necromancer as the main POV character will have added another five or more descriptors. That is absolutely the worst kind of descriptive writing. Pick one and stick with it. We don't need to be constantly reminded that the necromancer is a necromancer (writers need to assume that their readers are intelligent), and we certainly don't need for that necromancer to be given a bajillion different adjectives describing the nature of their character. No good writer does this. If you have any doubts, pick up Tolkien and see if he does it. He doesn't. Tolkien is always a good litmus test.
It's not limited to the necromancer, either. A Captain is a mariner, a seafarer, an inn owner, etc., etc. It's the same for every major character in the book.
I know a wee bit about where good fantasy can be found and where it will never be found. Fantasy written from a game - Warcraft, D&D, Diablo, etc. - will never be good because it isn't the authors creation. If the author him/herself doesn't have the necessary *deep personal investment* in the story or the characters, the resulting work will have no more than the depth of a wading pool, and the emptiness of the characters, probably created out of necessity as opposed to being truly alive in the writers mind, will be readily apparent.
So I can blame only myself for being disappointed and resultantly frustrated with this book. I should have known better. I *do* know better.
Take my advice (and not the advice of those whose ratings gave this an average four-star rating) and steer clear of this. Play the game and make up your own stories. You'll probably be more satisfied and have loads more fun.
Wicked Fantasy Story.......2006-08-26
Diablo: Legacy of Blood (Book 1 in the series)
By: Richard A. Knaak
Well, I saw these books out at Borders a few weeks ago, picked up the 1st and 2nd one, read the backs and thought that they sounded pretty damn cool. Well, I finally finished the first one today and frankly, I thought that it was hella kewl. I'm not all that familiar with the story of the Diablo games, but I must say that I love the mix of both might and magic in this book. It is absolutely awesome and gives some really wicked detailed descriptions of everything.
The story is about a veteran fighter, Norrec, who, with the help of his companions, stumbles unwittingly stumbles on the tomb of Bartuc the Warlord of Blood who committed many atroscities against his fellow man. Events unfold leading Norrec to don the armor of the long dead warlord, which is in fact cursed with many enchantments and even the spirit of the warlord himself. Now, Norrec, sometimes under the control of the cursed armor must find a way to break the warlord's curse before he becomes the new Warlord of Blood and continue the bloody and violent legacy of the previous one.
This was an awesome book, like I said, it had lots of might and magic and was just fantastic. Definetly gotta give this one a 10/10. Awesome all the way through the epilogue.
Dark and Magical.......2006-03-23
The book is a page-turner, making me want to read on. The beginning was typical and wasn't really appealing, but as the story progressed it just got better. The writer gives us details of the significant characters. As I read the book, I got into the shoes of the characters, when Norrec killed his two friends I can't help but feel empathy for Norrec's cursed fate.
The psychological struggle of Norrec was well written. The change in Norrec from wanting to get rid of the armour to keeping the armour finely plotted, using carefully placed lines which appear to be the usual feelings, but are actually showing his changes. It was unexpected that Norrec who desperately wanted to get rid of the armour fought for his life to keep it in the end, this was a great twist to the story.
Another well written character would be Galeona the ambitious sorcerer of General Malevolyn. Her intentions always change, as the story progresses her allegience is uncertain because of her desire to follow the powerful one. She is ambitious and it is nice to see how she plans her next move to fulfill her own goals, these plans even include sacrificing other people's lives without hesitation just to find the cursed armour
The story itself is interesting, but would be alot less interesint without the characters. The characters are the driving force of the story, it brought the story to another dimension, without the strong characters the story would be just another story book.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read novels, especially those who like fantasy fictions.

Vampires and much more..........2007-05-12
I loved this book. It is a different kind of Vampire story.
The time and places and descriptions are wonderful.
You feel you are experiencing them as you read.
The character and courage of each individual keeps you
captivated till the end.
I can't wait for the next book.
Am I normal? I've fallen for a vampire!.......2006-06-11
This book is so different to the normal (yawn) vampire stories, you know, garlic and crucifix.... these vampires - or Dark Kind - to give their real name - are so believable! They kill to survive, but then so does a tiger or a cat or a wolf .... and they have a code of honour and ... oh Azrar is wonderful and Jazriel... what can I say??? Swoon.....!
I can't believe this story was made up. I totally believe vamps really did help us humans in the war!
Is there going to be another novel about the Dark Kind? The author says yes. Oh good!!!!!!!
My journey to the Land of Secrets and Shadows.......2005-12-21
I couldnt wait for my copy to arrive from Amazon USA, I borrowed a copy. Its a wonderful book, like watching a vivid Hollywood blockbuster. Expertly crafted with brilliant characters, Ms Dane has taken all the well-worn Goth cliches such as gloomy castles and wolf-ridden forests and given them fresh new vibrancy with her real passion for the genre. One of the blurbs calls Blood Tears; 'Sexy, subversive and beautifully written.' Says it all! Looking forward to my own copy to arrive and the promised sequels. And the other reviewer is right, Jazriel is gorgeous!!

Raven Dane's beautiful, very bad boy Jazriel stars in Blood Lament.......2007-05-09
After spellbinding the reader with dark enchantment in Blood Tears, Raven Dane seduces us with Blood Lament, the latest in the Legacy of the Dark Kind series. It tells the story of her charismatic , beautiful and very bad boy Jazriel and his reckless downward spiral which threatens the other surviving Dark Kind. As with the first book, this is beautifully written, fast-paced and intriguing. And it leaves the reader thirsting for more dark deeds and adventures with the Dark Kind vampires. And not a bat, cape, coffin or frightened maiden throughout. A startling original story.

Science Fictions recounts the most notorious biomedical scandal of our times: the Robert Gallo affair. It is not, author John Crewdson says, "about AIDS. Nor is it really about science." Indeed. It is a tale of behavior most base in circles most rarified.
In 1983 Gallo, of the National Cancer Institute, and a group of scientists at Paris's Pasteur Institute announced their isolating of separate AIDS viruses. The stakes--moneyed prizes and patents, not to mention cures--were stratospheric. By 1985, the Pasteur Institute filed suit claiming that Gallo--whose discovery was actually a dead end--had appropriated "their" virus as his own. In 1992, the National Academy of Sciences agreed, accusing Gallo of "intellectual recklessness" and "essentially immoral" behavior.
This definitive, chilling book is also, unfortunately, a daunting one. Its sheer size--notes, glossary, and list of characters alone occupy 100 pages--and scientific complexity will defeat all but the most determined and scientifically informed reader. --H. O'Billovitch
Book Description
In this riveting, magisterial narrative, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist John Crewdson shows how one of America's star bioscientists falsely claimed to have been the first to isolate the AIDS virus, then garnered the resulting honors and riches at the expense of the true discoverers in Paris; how the Reagan and Bush administrations struggled to cover up the truth; and how it all finally came out anyway, at the expense of the reputations of celebrated scientists and important government officials. SCIENCE FICTIONS is an arresting tale of vanity, corruption, greed, mendacity, and cutthroat competition-an enthralling revelation of how big bioscience really works today.
Customer Reviews:
Still a classic.......2006-05-12
This book is still a classic in science history. Crewdson's work began as a series of newspaper articles in the Chicago Tribune. The other great book, although that author's premise is wrong, is "The River." These two books tell the scientific history of the AIDS epidemic in its early years. Along with "And the Band Played On" they are required reading to understand what happened. I relied on these books to write the chapter in my own history of medicine. "Science Fictions" is not only informative but it reads like a detective story.
AIDS industry professional says this is essential and vital reading........2006-03-27
John Crewdson's extraordinary investigation, unrivalled since Watergate, reveals the awful truth of the misappropriation of the French isolate of HIV by Dr Robert Gallo at his laboratory at the US National Institutes of Health, and exposes the cover-ups of this by the US Health Secretary and the directors of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Multi-millions of dollars were at stake, careers hung in the balance, and the political reverberations over ten years enmeshed Presidents Reagan and Clinton along with French PM Jacques Chirac. The greatest tragedy Crewdson reveals is that AIDS research was entirely derailed by these dark scientific acts and the political infighting caused HIV-infected blood to flood US's blood-banks because the US government refused to use the French HIV test, with the US test known to be fatally flawed, as Crewdson reveals. Crewdson deserves not only the Pulitzer but the Nobel for this painstakingly thorough masterpiece of investigative journalism. It also reveals the startling fact that publication in a scientific journal, which confers cachet to the researchers, involves personal prejudice, scientific wheeling-dealing and is a back-scratching nightmare designed to promote vested interests. As CEO of Positively Healthy, the world's longest-established gay men's holistic AIDS charity, I can not recommend this book highly enough. It is essential reading, not just for those who are HIV-positive or work in the industry, but for all those who enjoy a masterly detective story.
A riveting non-fiction thriller.......2004-06-29
This account of the discovery of the AIDS virus and the machinations and lies and trials and tribulations that followed was riveting. This book had me glued to my seat. Highly recommended.
Outstanding.......2003-02-16
Finally a book that puts all the pieces together. Having performed the initial flawed AIDS tests, I have always wondered at the political ramifications. And having worked as a Blood Banker for many years, I can only feel sadness knowing how the nation's blood supply was affected by the greed of one man. This book really needs to be made into a movie so that the public and politicians alike can understand how egos and politics can cause so much damage. I particularly like how the author intersperses true incidents where innocent victims contracted HIV because of the flawed Gallo AIDS test we were forced to use. This really drives Crewdson's point home. A job well done.
watch your back.......2002-08-18
What I found most interesting about the book is the description of the appalling research culture at the NIH. This is after all the world's best funded and perhaps the world's leading biomedical research institution at least in quantity of output if not in quality. The book makes it more than clear that the institution was aware, tolerated, and at times rewarded research ethics that stink to high heavens. The possibility that the likes of Gallo and his supervisors may have influenced a generation of scientists is truly appalling. Never having worked at the NIH itself I find it now much easier to comprehend the behavior and the social norms of my NIH trained colleagues. I therefore highly recommend to anybody planning to work at NIH or having to work with alumni of this institution.

In the spirit of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, Marvel`s Blade the Vampire Hunter series and UPN`s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Blood Legacy: The Novel spans more than six centuries and chronicles the exploits of Ryan, a beautiful and mysterious woman whose beauty belies her true nature as an immortal warrior. This fast-paced novel turns the lies that created the vampire mythology on its head and pumps new blood into the horror/fantasy genre.

Blood Legacy: The Novel.......2007-08-08
The novel is definitely a must-read for anyone who enjoys vampire tales. Blood Legacy is a completely different spin on the mythos, one that delves into the science behind immortality. While I have no way of scientifically proving or disproving her explanations for these creatures, I really enjoyed reading about them! It was a very fun book, completely action packed with great heroes and villains! I have already read the sequel and loved it and am eagerly waiting for more novels in this series!
Made me Fall in love with the occult again.......2007-07-29
I cant begin to really describe this book or its sequel , but i will recommend that you buy it and read it..you might just like it even if you are skeptical
A great read, but not without problems..........2007-04-09
Though the characters here are strong and their conflicts interesting, the book as a whole could have used an editor's strong hand - both for the smaller proofreading errors (streptococcus is described as a virus, and a character is shown knitting a quilt), and for the larger, clumsy moments (like switching the point of view between paragraphs, or providing exposition to the reader by having characters simply state what they know "for the record").
But by far the greatest error here was telling us "The Story of Ryan" without having Ryan as our main point of view character. The whole affair is told via a framing story about a doctor, whose concerns and subplots conveniently vanish once Ryan's storytelling gets into full swing.
This story has a lot of promise, filled with dramatic flourishes that would be perfectly at home in a cinematic medium. It's an easy, entertaining read - and one that I quite enjoyed - with good plot twists towards the end. Just be prepared to forgive a few foibles.
WOW!!!.......2005-09-27
This is an incredible book!! Kerri Hawkins has not only rejuvenated the vampire story, but redefined it. She backs up the fantasy with science and you find yourself wondering, could this be real? This book is a feat of imagination and intellect and the beginning of a new genre in fantasy.
Good stuff.......2005-08-03

Better than book two, still not as good as book one........2006-12-14
John Passarella, Wither's Legacy (Pocket, 2004)
The good news: Wither's Legacy is a much better book than Wither's Rain. John Passarella has learned from some of his mistakes. The bad news: Joseph Gangemi has still not returned to the fold, and John Passarella's work on its own is still nowhere near as strong as the work they produced in collaboration.
After the events that concluded Wither's Rain, Wendy left Windale, and the group of friends fragmented, with Hannah on the west coast and Alex back in Minnesota. Wendy wandered around for a while, and when this novel opens, she, too, is well out west, where a subconscious mental trigger left by Wither before her death is released by Wendy, and it wakes up something very nasty with one command: kill Wendy Ward. Needless to say, the gang gets back together, piles into the Mystery Machine... oh, wait. Wrong review.
As with Wither's Rain, it's pretty obvious that, in this partnership, Gangemi was responsible for the characterization and atmosphere and Passarella worked the plot angle. Once again, the plot is solid, but that's about all there is to the novel. Passarella has, however, dropped the annoying gratuitousness of Wither's Rain and keeps things relatively simple here.
It's not a terrible novel, but the series which started off with so much potential is nothing more than a shadow of its former self. Joseph Gangemi, phone home. ** ½
A curse with teeth.......2006-09-18
John Passarella's WITHER (which was co-authored with Joe Gangemi; hence, the pen name J. G. Passarella), WITHER'S RAIN, and WITHER'S LEGACY are three novels in a terrifically entertaining occult fantasy series about a modern-day young Wicca woman named Wendy Ward, who runs afoul of an evil sorceress from the colonial past, named Elizabeth Wither. With a nod to Nathaniel Hawthorne, John Passarella tells a tale about witchcraft that conjures up Cotton Mather's (MALLEUS MALEFICARUM) version of the ancient pagan craft more than it does Wicca (we all know what happened to women accused of consorting with the devil; but the irony here is that witches never did and still do not believe in the devil. It is difficult to worship something you do not believe in). This being said, the novels are fun to read, with Wendy as the good witch, and Elizabeth Wither as the evil one (practitioners of Wicca might also argue that there is no such thing as either a good witch or an evil witch, just a woman having a bad hair day. However, for the sake of storytelling, fantasists are free to play god with their characters and bend the plot to suit their worlds; and it is fortunate for us readers of fantasy fiction that they do).
Elizabeth Wither and her two sisters-in-the-craft, Rebecca Cole and Sarah Hutchins, are three of the ugliest and wickedest demons to wander the pages of fiction in a long while, especially the powerful Wither. This is one demon you do not want to meet on a lonely bridge at midnight, although some of the unfortunate characters in these novels manage to do just that, and do not live to tell about it. It is Wendy Ward, however, who catches Wither's dreadful attention more than the others do; and because Wendy is a practitioner of Wicca, and a very gifted one at that, it is up to her alone to lay Wither and her minions to rest, once-and-for-all. Wither is a powerful demon, though, who does not take well to being laid asunder. In all three novels she returns in some form or another to wreak vengeful havoc on Wendy and her loved ones.
I highly recommend these novels to readers who enjoy supernatural fantasy that features witches, werewolves, crones, and even a wendigo; but I must forewarn, the books do contain some graphic depictions of sex, and colorful language, which might be unsuitable for the very young.
Get yourself ready..........2005-09-05
Call in sick to work, take the phone off the hook and take a seat for a super thrill-ride of a novel. John Passarella is a writer to watch! All three Wendy Ward novels will not disappoint!
A blockbuster of a novel.......2004-11-26
After destroying Elizabeth Wither for a second time, supernaturally gifted teenager Wendy Ward finally believed this would be the last she would see of the ex-coven leader. She was right. But although she may have destroyed Wither physically, her legacy still continues in a bitter curse she placed upon Wendy in her final dying moments. A curse that has awoken a carnivorous yellowed eyed, seven foot beast that will stop at nothing until it tastes her sweet flesh between it ravenous fangs ...
Bram Stoker Award-winner John Passarella has done it again with his latest novel, 'Wither's Legacy', the third (and possibly final) chilling part to the critically-acclaimed Wendy Ward series.
Passarella has already proven himself a gifted storyteller with `Wither' and `Wither's Rain', and `Wither's Legacy' is no exception. His plotting, dialogue, and attention to detail are as accurate as ever, drawing the reader in for more after every page. You also can't help but feel that the author's understanding of his characters is as strong as ever, but that still doesn't stop him from killing who he wants, and when.
For a chilling read this winter (or any time), 'Wither's Legacy' comes as highly recommended as you can get. A fine choice for any bookshelf.
Wendy does it again!.......2004-10-24
Wendy is back an her powers are growing! John Passarella continues the saga of Wendy Ward in this well written and fast paced sequel. I couldn't put the book down!!!

Blood Legacy: The House of Alexander.......2007-05-21
This book makes you think of all the dark thoughts you sometimes shouldn't have. Ryan gives the tale the realism that is scary and moving. You are drawn into her world wondering who is going to betray her, but she still makes you want to protect her from all that is happening around as you see the plots and you are shouting for her to watch out. Brilliant book by Kerri Hawkins another to carry on the story would be marvelous.
Blood Legacy: The House of Alexander by Vicky London reviewer for Vampiregenre.com.......2006-03-26
Blood Legacy is the follow up novel to The Story of Ryan. Ryan has been reunited with her father, Victor, and discovers that he has fallen prey to an unknown illness. Such an illness was thought impossible for their Kind as none of the eldest have ever died. Ryan calls on her human friend Dr. Susan Ryerson to unravel the mystery of his illness through Susan's knowledge of their unique anatomy. Meanwhile the Grand Council has been reconvened and they have chosen Ryan to conduct a Hunt. Not just any Hunt, this is a millennial purge to kill off the weaker offspring. Ryan must hunt and kill all of her kind that she can to strengthen the bloodlines.
Ryan begins to suspect that someone has betrayed her father and somehow infected him with the deadly illness. She will have to confront the most powerful of their Kind, including the darkly seductive Aeron who would like nothing better than to see her destroyed. Aeron is one scary guy who likes to seduce others of their Kind and consume their flesh. The other council members, Abigail and Marilyn, also want to possess her and set out to draw her in with their sensual charms. Ryan's vulnerability may turn out to be her greatest strength. As Ryan comes closer to the edge of death, giving in to her own desires may be the key to the survival of everyone she cares about.
This is another great book from Kerri Hawkins, her prose style brings the scenes to life with stunning visual imagery. Her vampires are a unique creation who insist that they are not vampires at all. They believe that vampire myth is actually based on their Kind. It will be interesting to see if Hawkins writes a book on Dr. Ryerson becoming one of their Kind. She also writes a comic book series called Blood Legacy that the novel is based on.
So glad to have found this to read.......2006-03-12
This book continues where its predecessor Blood Legacy: The Story of Ryan, left off. It will not make much sense to those that have not read the Story of Ryan. Both of these books are present an interesting blend of fantasy/horror, history, biology ,and politics. The House of Alexander even has some romance elements, of a sort. Both books, I highly recommend, but don't go looking for them at your local book store, because ,unfortunately, they probably will not carry them.

Book Description
Following generations of war, the Arani finally know peace. The proud Noble Houses have tamed the wild colonial lands of Taer and embarked on the rebuilding of past glory-while also returning to the shores of their blasted homeland, in an effort to reclaim what they left behind. But a relentless enemy has pursued them. By use of the Forbidden Arts, sinister agents have infiltrated the highest offices of the Arani, and the chaos they create threatens to destabilize the New Kingdoms. Fate places a heavy burden on the shoulders of two young nobles. Bryn Tabral's backwater barony is rent asunder by the vicious, and seemingly unprovoked, murder of his parents at the hands of a nefarious sorcerer. Alyssa Deveron of the Crown Robes uncovers a hidden enemy, placing her life at risk. With the help of a canid companion, an unlikely tutor, and those drawn to their cause, Bryn and Alyssa must unravel the mysteries of the past and come to terms with their fate, before the future is lost.

I can't wait to see more!.......2007-02-23
This book should appeal to all fans of the high fantasy genre. Though clearly original, Mr. Montgomery's style is reminiscent of Feist and Weis/Hickman, something many readers should appreciate and find easily accessible. The original world Montgomery created is vast and diverse, spanning way beyond the scope of this first novel; the detailed maps taunt the reader with hopes of greater exploration.
The strengths of the novel lie in the development of the main characters, the history and interconnections of the various countries and peoples, and in the intricacies of the plot. Near the end, however, as more and more characters become involved for the book's climax, the narrative loses some of the clarity it had earlier on. For example, the lead protagonist Bryn changes his style of speech several times near the end; it's unclear whether he's "grown up" or whether the author just felt compelled to be extra-dramatic. That being said, the novel ends well, leaving the reader eager for more.
There is other room for improvement which I'd look forward to in the sequel. The description of landscapes and cityscapes could be richer, and the vastness and diversity of the world begs for this. Also, the plot could be spiced up a bit with a couple strong "gray" or internally-conflicted characters to contrast with the clearly-defined protagonists and antagonists.
Overall, "Scion of the Dark Moon" is a great first contribution by a new author!
Impressive first novel.......2007-02-04
Scion of the Dark Moon is a masterful first work. Montgomery has created a traditional fantasy novel set in a world with depth and flavor that makes it stand out from the pack. He has combined authentic medieval terminology with archaic weights and measures, detailed maps, and descriptions of distant lands and peoples to lend an air of believability to the whole. In doing this, he gives ample evidence of knowing what readers of fantasy crave - immersion and escape.
Although sometimes predictable (as is the nature of the genre), Scion has subtle, yet convoluted, plot twists set against a backdrop of feudal political intrigue and otherworldly evil. Characterizations are good, with clear lines drawn between right and wrong, good and evil, and those who merely have the misfortune of being caught in the middle. Every character has a story, and none are left flat or featureless. Despite a solid and satisfying ending, there are enough mysteries, evils, and foreign lands left to leave the way open for a much-anticipated sequel.
Not quite at a level with Tolkein, Martin, or Drake (yet!), I certainly rate this first entry into the literary realm superior to the published works of Weis, Lackey, Hickman, and many others, and easily put it on a par with Cook, Jordan, and Brooks. With any luck, we can expect to see more from this author!
Excellent!.......2007-01-06
This is a very intriguing book , full of twists and turns and excitement in this new novel. A true page turner to the end! I see a very strong future for this new author and can't wait to see what develops in the sequel!
A great example of classic fantasy.......2007-01-03
If you like Lord of the Rings, A Song of Fire and Ice, Wheel of Time, Dragonlance, or The Belgariad, this book is for you. Scion of the Dark Moon is a great first novel in a new series. It has just the right amount of action, political intrigue, and world building to keep you turning the pages until the end, which comes too quickly. The story seems like typical fantasy fare at first, but as the layers are slowly pulled back, the depth of the story and the world it takes place in is revealed. I enjoyed reading about the hero Bryn, and finding out about his heritage and watching as his future becomes clearer. I can't wait for the sequel!
A wonderful new talent in the genre of fantasy novels.......2006-12-19
What sinister forces are seeking to create unrest and possibly destroy all of Aralan and surrounding lands? This novel draws you into the mysteries that surround Bryn Tabral of Falcon Vale, those who are close to him and the unknown forces trying to destroy him. But why Bryn? There are many unexpected twists and turns in this well developed new novel. The author has a keen eye for detail and a gift for making you feel as if you are at Bryn's side as the story unfolds. The author's story development keeps you intrigued, interested and asking for more! I am looking forward to the sequel to this most interesting first novel!
