Good except for the abrupt and disconnected ending.......2007-06-03
Dead Boy Detectives follows two boy ghosts, one deceased in a bit before WWI, and the other deceased in the 1990s, as they run a "dectective agency". The ghosts are only visible to children and to a few adults, which comes in handy when solving mysteries. Here, they go to an all-girls academy to search for a missing best-friend of one of the girls. This involves going undercover as girls, and dealing with crushes given and received (completely crushes for some comic effect - nothing poignant or for any other purpose than comic relief).
The search for the missing girl unfolds well. Teachers' quirks are explored. Girls not in the same circle of friends fit into stereotype personalities, while the clic the boys are in gets developed. The art here was a nice touch. It's nice in the sense of flowing well and dropping detail when appropriate.
So, things are moving along nicely... and then the last maybe fifth of the book delivers the missing girl and gets the ghosts back to their home-base in London with an abrupt deus-ex-machina ending. It's very tacked on and doesn't relate to the rest of the book, so it doesn't so much solve a mystery as put things in place to start the next book.
This is a decent read if you have easy access to a copy, but it's all a bit soft, so don't go looking hard to find it.
Highly enjoyable.......2005-08-21
Though it's hardly up to the epic storytelling of the Sandman series that inspired it, Jill Thompson's little spin-off title is a quirky, enjoyable, and affordable read.

Dead Man in Indian Creek.......2005-10-05
The book Dead Man in Indian Creek by Mary Downing Hawn talks a lot about trust and believing in someone. Two boys in the book go on a camping trip at Indian Creek. Their names are Matt and Parker. Parker's mom is divorced and he hates it! He wishes his mom could still be with his dad but he knows it's never going to happen know matter how much he wants them too. Later in the book Parker's mom is going to have to find a way to believe in her son and figure out who's the liar.
Right now Parkers mom is dating a guy named Evan. He is mean, always has a creepy grin on his face, and he buys his mom things at weird times, mostly after a fight they would have the day before. Parker does not like this guy and knows he is bad for his mom.
When the boys get back from their trip they tell parker's mom they saw a dead body in the creek. They said Otis was barking at the water when they ran to see what is was they saw Evan run away into the woods. When they looked in the water there was a dead body just lying their.
Parker's mom has to figure out whom to believe, parker with his story about the dead man in the creek, or Evan saying her son is crazy and needs to go see a doctor.

Great Book.......2005-03-24
I absolutely love Mary Downing Hahn books, starting in the fifth grade when I first read Wait till Helen Comes. That seriously is one of the BEST books I have ever read. So then after that book, I read A Doll in the Garden. Those two books were so good, but then at the time there were barely any of her books there at my school, so I didn't really get to read much more of her work. But then when I went to middle school I went under her name and found this book. I read it and it was awesome. In the story, Parker and Matt, first started out bored and decided to go camping.... while they were there, Otis, Parker's dog, pulled on something, and it turned out to be a leg. After one more tug, they found out its a body.
I would recommend this book to a teen, despite the reading leve, because it deals with alot of that kind of stuff.
Dead Man in Indian Creek.......2004-02-21
Dead Man in Indian Creek is a short mysterious mysery that will keep you reading! I just read this book and enjoyed the characters and the entertainment! I reccomed this book to big fans of myserys! I hope you take my advice and reed this book.
Nice Book, but..........2003-09-08
This is an excellent book. It may be considered a kids' book, but it deals with many adult themes such as drug use, child abuse, murder, etc. The book is thrilling and should be made into a movie (if it hasn't already). I would recommend this book for people ages 11-14.

Dead in the Water.......2001-10-18
It is a fairly good book.
Without The Hardy Boys..........2000-03-23
Dead in the Water was great. I liked how the Nazi boat wasrevealed, and it's description. I found the Hardy Boys Casefiles AREcoming to a close, so I went to the HB Casefiles website and received their e-mail. If you don't want the Hardy Boys to end or at least want an explanation, e-mail them today. Thanks for reading my review.
P.S.
If enough people e-mail in, they might not cancel the series. END
Not the book to end the series........1998-11-28
I liked this book! It was thrilling and exciting, especially the part in the sunken sub!!! But it's unfair the series is ending now!! IT'S MY FAVORITE SERIES!!! I think they should dicontinue the Hardy Boys Series and keep the casefiles!!!!
Entertaining and original!.......1998-03-26
I loved Dead in the Water! The plot had interesting twists and there was even some bait thrown out to possibly get you off track in your home detective work. I bit hook, line and sinker. In fact, when I got to the end and the lead I'd been following wasn't part of the mystery's resolution, I was sure the author had made a mistake and left an important clue dangling. When I went back & researched it in the text, though, I found there was a subtle explanation and that I'd been led astray by a good piece of work on the author's part.
In general, the book had intersting and up to date characters and a timely topic (scuba is a hobby of mine).
Overall, a fun book to read!
Great book........1998-01-20
I read this book and I think it's one of the greatest.I thought it was scary when they uncovered the dead body.It sounds gross.Anyway I 'm 11 years old and I'm mad and confused. I hear rumors that the Hardy Boys series, Hardy Boys Casefiles series, Nancy Drew series,Nancy Drew Files Series, and the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Super Mysteries will soon be canceled. Is this true? Are these series really going to come to an end?I hope it doesn't. Concerned Kid, Deryck K.

Dead on Target is an action packed adventure.......2007-03-22
In Franklin Dixon's Hardy Boy's "Dead on Target", Frank "The good looking blonde haired blue-eyed older brother", and Joe "The black haired brown eyed younger brother", and their close freinds are in the mall in their hometown of Bayport on the East coast around lunch. Iola (one of the friends) gets upset and goes back to the car in the parking lot and gets in. Frank and Joe are on their way out to the car when it blows up with Iola in it! This creates a huge mystery which Faranklin Dixon's books are known for. This becomes a huge mystery leading to an overseas Terrorist group who is trying to scare Fenton Hardy (Frank and Joe's dad and one of the worlds greatest detectives) off their case. The bomb was meant for his kids but killed Iola. The two boys, who are great detectives themselves, vow to solve the case.
The case leads them to Europe fighting an international terroist group who are trained experts. Dodging death and putting themselves in danger for others they quickly close in on the terrorists with help from the FBI and other agencies. But the real problem is in Baypot.
My feelings about the book are that it is great! The author uses a fast pace to keep the reader intrested in the book. His books are identical to the Nacy Drew mystery books in that the main characters are teenagers.
Loss of reality.......2005-11-12
I am a die hard Hardy Boys fan and this is definatly one of the better of the group. I recommend any of the books for lite reading and a break from reality. A key note of advise though, I read a lot of the reviews complaining that these are unrealistic. Yes they are but in my opinion there is always enough reality in the world from the moment you wake up a little break every now and then is nice.
Back to this book though it is extremly exciting and is the start of a whole new begining in the Hardy Boys books. This mystery throws out all the cute nice points of the hardcovers. Another word of caution the hard covers are a lot tamer than these do to the era they were written in.
a new direction for the Hardy Boys.......2004-09-01
"Dead on Target" was the beginning of a new era for the Hardy Boys. This is the first volume of the new (in 1991) series "The Hardy Boys Casefiles", and it is a more adult and action packed series than the original series. This is never more evident than the first two pages of the book. Whereas the original series (started in 1927 and it is still running today) would have various plots by criminals, nobody ever seemed to get killed or nothing too serious would ever happen, but "Dead on Target" opens with the killing of Joe Hardy's girlfriend (and sister of good friend Chet) Iola Morton. For a series that has been known for its lack of actual murders of any on screen character, this was a shocking and explosive (no pun intended as it was by a bomb that killed Iola) moment. It marked the different direction that the Casefiles would take the reader, as well as the Hardys, on.
A car bomb was the cause of death for Iola Morton. Frank and Joe, as well as Iola and Frank's girlfriend Callie Shaw, were at the mall preparing for a political rally. Iola ends up returning to the Hardys' car to pick up more campaign materials when it explodes, killing her. Joe blames himself because his flirting with another girl made Iola mad and this is what led her to be at the car by herself. At the funeral, "Dead on Target" takes another twist by introducing the character of The Grey Man. The Grey Man is a member of a secret government organization called "The Network". "The Network" believes that an international group of terrorists, "The Assassins", were responsible for Iola's death and are planning something big for the political rally the following week.
The rest of the novel finds Frank and Joe traveling to London, fighting several members of the Assassins, being in the midst of gun battles and defusing a bomb. "Dead on Target" is fast paced with a tighter story than what is found through most of the original series. For fans of the Hardy Boys, "Dead on Target" is likely to be a favorite. It is not for the purists of the series, though. This book takes the brothers down a different timeline than we find in the main series. Since the main series continued to be published at the same time as the Casefiles, these books (Casefiles) are either set at a later date than the continuing series or is part of some alternative timeline since Iola is still alive in the main series.
"Dead on Target" has more violence than the "classic" Hardy Boys, but this is a very interesting story, even if it is a bit far fetched. For the first time, terrorism and murder have been introduced to Bayport and the Casefiles bring the reader a new style of story with the Hardys. As an introduction to the Casefiles as well as a new episode in the lives of the Hardys, this is a good place to start. Fifteen years after first reading this book it remains a fun read.

What a hotshot book.Although at the beginning I felt sad as I read on I was hooked. The Bullet plants a bomb in the Hardy car and Iola is killed.Joe and Frank track him down I do not want to tell you more because it would be iresponsible.
A Different Type Of Hardy Boys Adventure!.......2003-06-15

Right off the bat, Joe's longtime girlfriend, Iola, gets blown to bits by a bomb placed in the Hardy's van!
Shortly thereafter, Frank and Joe meet the mysterious Network agent, The Gray Man, and join forces with him to track down a terrorist group called the Assassions.
Join the Hardys as they travel around the world in search of Iola's killer.

Review of The Dead Season.......2000-06-19
I thought this was a very interesting book. As far as Casefiles go, it was ok. It was however a little different then some of the other casefiles. Surprise ending, and theme of the 20's. Very good.

One of my favorites.......2002-06-13
I thought that this was one of the best Hardy Boys casefiles.
I have wished that the author(s) would include more romance in these boks, and i got my wish in this one. i would recomend it to anyone who is a little familar with these books, because it involves some old enimies that newcomers wouldn't know about.
Haunting!!.......2002-05-07
This is certianly the last great casefile...one of very few latter case files to capture the imagination like the first few in the series did. There's a lot happening, a lot of emotion and suspense - a definite 'must read' for the Hardy Fan.
Halloween Horror.......2002-01-04
Halloween has now become very real. Not in costumes but horror and murder. Joe's new friend Vanessa is killed just as Iola Morton was and the dead have come to haunt Bayport! When Vanessa's boat blows up with Vanessa in it the horror begins. After experiencing Iola's murder, Joe can't believe when she comes back to get him. Seeing the death of his girlfriend and his mother, Joe is the target for death in this book. Going to the cemetary where Iola is remembered, Joe sees all his worst nightmares come true! All the criminals he has fought are back from the dead. If you are into action, this is the book for you!
