Book Description
Fancy Nancy is back! And when her family decides to get a dog, she's certain she can be fancier than ever. After all, a papillon—a small, delicate, fluffy dog—is the ultimate accessory. But her family wants a large, plain dog. How unglamorous!
With Fancy Nancy's trademark humor and warmth, Nancy discovers that real fanciness does not depend simply on appearance but more on a genuine joie de vivre, which is a fancy phrase for having lots of fun.

A must for any little girl!.......2007-10-02
I got my daughter her first Fancy Nancy book when she turned 2, and now everything that is girly she calls fancy Nancy, shoes, purses and anything sparkley! Great to read for bedtime too. I can't wait for the next books to come out!
Printed in China XXXXXX .......2007-09-26
I Can't understand why the first book was printed in the USA and this one is printed in CHINA! Is there lead in this book like many of their toys??
I think Amazon should list this if this is the case
A very "posh" book!.......2007-09-26
I purchased Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy to go along with the original Fancy Nancy book for my 5 year old granddaughter . . . I had them sent directly to her house while I knew I would be visiting so we could open them together and start reading. My granddaughter loved them and I had to read them several times during our first sitting! The story is very cute and age-appropriate, and the illustrations and colors are perfect for little girls her age. I wish these books had been out when my girls were little! I love the word "posh" because I was born in the country where it's most popularly used.
MISSTELV.......2007-09-25
I bought this for my 4 year old grandaughter. She loves to dress up and play she is Fancy Nancy. The book is simply written and wonderful illustrated. I highly recommend it!
"I LOVE this book!" .......2007-09-15
That title is the opinion of my six-year-old granddaughter. She and her mom re-read it every night.

Basic Overlook of Neuroscience.......2007-02-24
This book is really good for a general understanding of neuroscience and it has good pictures. This is really a beginning undergraduate level book and can be used as supplemental material for basic concepts when a student is starting to become more advanced, but it does not go into much detail. It is well-written and consequently easy to read. If you're looking for an introduction to neuroscience this is a good book. If you're looking for a reference book for higher level neuroscience this book won't meet standards.
Good for undergraduates.......2006-11-30
You're probably purchasing this book because it's required for your survey course in neuroscience, and that's fine. In fact, it's pretty good for that purpose. But if you want a more rigorous treatment of the subject matter, then this book needs one or several serious supplements.
It's certainly the most "lickable" neuroscience textbook out there, due to its candy-coated drawings.
Pros:
-Current information
-Readability
-Clinical focus
-Profiling relevant human diseases (however largely non-rigorous)
-Profiling current scientists
-Presentation of some of the diagrams (colorful, do a fair job at synthesizing information)
It is not so good at:
-Thoroughness
-More realistic images (stained sections, slice preparations, fMRI images)
The two cons are a deal-breaker for me, however. For instructors I would recommend this book highly at the undergraduate level and only with a caveat to the graduate level.
Neuroscience Brain.......2006-11-06
It is a very good neurobiology book. All of the concepts are explained very well and in great detail.
An Excellent Text.......2005-12-14
If you have been dabbling in cognitive psychology and brain science, have found it interesting and are looking for a broad yet in-depth treatment then this book will not dissapoint you. It approaches Neuroscience from every possible angle: you will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the brain and how it produces, controls and mediates the sensory, motor and emotional functions that underlie human experience. The layout of the text is logical, it uses great pedagogical tools, and the writing is concise and informative (if a little dry). Highly recommended as a first textbook for serious study.
A Brief Review of "Neuroscience".......2005-09-05
I just finished using this book for an undergradutate Neurobiology class at Harvard University, and found it to be very informative. It has a number of diagrams and illustrations, and clearly describes various aspects of neuroscience in great detail, but in a comprehensive manor. I recommend it to anyone pursuing a career in neuroscience.

book "Fancy Nancy".......2007-10-02
WOW - the book came in just a few days. Great service. The book was in good shape and packaged well. THANK YOU!
Great Read.......2007-10-01
My 3 year old absolutely loves this book. The first time we checked it out from the library I didn't really think she cared for it much. But, then I happened to order it for one of her little friend's birthday and she was sooo excited! She ran around saying, "it's Fancy Nancy mommy!" It took some convincing to be able to wrap it up for her little friend. Everybody needs a little "fancy" in their life.
Great children's book.......2007-09-30
I bought this book for my four year old grandaughter and it is now her favorite book. We are now going to have a 'fancy' party at a local restaurant just like Fancy Nancy did. Well written with nice illustrations.
A very "fancy" book.......2007-09-26
I purchased two of the Fancy Nancy series for my 5 year old granddaughter - she loves them! When the book arrived, along with it's counterpart "Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy", she couldn't wait for us to read them together. She loved the story and the illustrations, and was attracted to the "girly" colors and the "before" and "after" drawings of Fancy's Nancy's bedroom! I think my granddaughter may be a "fancy" girl at heart!
I love it.......2007-09-16
I love this book. I don't know who loves it more. Me or my 2 and 4-year old daughters

Provides the building blocks to VFX with Shake........2007-06-27
Four stars. A fifth star would have been earned for a better indexing or cross-reference. Otherwise a top notch, very informative book.
I have experience with film making and with Editing on Final Cut Pro. I was new to VFX, but I'm not anymore after reading this book!
Having seen Shake in action, I wanted to learn more. This books focus on Shake and the fact that a trial version ships with the book is the reason I bought it.
This book is a reference book. It explains, in detail, terms used in the VFX industry (clean plate, matchmoving, etc.) that any filmmaker or budding VFX artist will need to know if even just to communicate clearly with VFX professionals. The entries in the book are punctuated with walk-through tutorials that show you how to accomplish (in Shake) the specific effect. This is a good thing.
I had a project on my suite that needed some pretty hefty FX work. This book armed me with the right concepts and understanding so that I could plan the steps I'd need to take to accomplish the FX. In my case it was turning the request to "Make that person a ghost" into build a clean background plate, rotoscope the actor, invent a ghosty look, and then put it all back together. Until I had read the book and understood the individual steps involved, I didn't know where to begin.
Overall, this is a very informative reference book written in a witty and accessible style. It is VERY Shake oriented, which is, again, WHY I bought it. This is the kind of book an FX pro (or newbie) will reference many times as they work on future projects.
Fine book.......2007-06-07
I was already aware of most of the topics covered in this book, but it helped understand them better and be able to explain accurately to anyone asking. Its also well updated to current industry standards. its in no way complete as an Encyclopedia, needs future voulmes to do that.
In short-A text book for every student of visual effects.
Cons: The DVD files can be accessed only in a MAC (not for PC).
A most complete textbook for VSFX..........2007-03-08
My humble congratulations to the authors who have teamed up with Apple to bring us (my Visual Effects Dept. students and I) a most complete textbook. In my opinion, this book rates in the current top five of all serious resources in the teaching & learning of Visual Effects at the College and Graduate levels. In addition to that, for those of us teaching compositing and matte painting, I would rate this book as the current number one textbook on these topics. A must-read, for a serious student of the Art and Craft of Visual Effects.
Deepest respects,
Prof. Tan TASCIOGLU,
Professor of Visual Effects, Savannah College of Art & Design

great reference material.......2007-02-24
great book for beginner to intermediate level vfx artists. the book works exactly as the title says, as an encyclopedia or a reference on how to approach specific problems/challenges that a vfx artist usually faces in production.
Good Contribution.......2007-01-29
For those reviewers who are complaining this book does not cover Adobe After Effects or Final Cut Pro should consider one major fact: the title. It's an Apple book dedicated to Apple software. After Effects (strangely enough) is NOT an Apple product. Furthermore, Shake is Apple's premier visual effects software, and promoting it is in their interests. People are glued to either Final Cut Pro or After Effects (I find both endearing and quite wonderful), and Shake is left out in the dust, even though it offers many aspects other software cannot.
In any case, the book doesn't cover EVERYTHING but it does enough. If you want a step-by-step guide to all the possible effects, I suggest you write your own book after years of experience. Or, you can spend $500 for a collection of books which will undoubtably cover many of the same topics.
This book is a good find. Won't disappoint you if your expectations aren't unreasonable.
Book Description
NLP skills are proving invaluable for personal development and professional excellence in counselling, education, and business.
Customer Reviews:
Not very good actually .......2007-06-11
The book presents a few ideas and techniques from the field of psychology (ie critical thinking) but , because its an introduction, does not go into any real depth. It leave the reader feeling a bit cheated really. Anyone who's really serious can get more knowledge by picking up a few college level text books in psychology and skip this introduction.
The best NLP Introduction .......2007-05-24
I consider myself a dabbler in NLP and have read several books on the topic. Perhaps, "attempted to read" might be a more accurate depiction. I found the works by Bandler and Grinder and the Andreas's very difficult to get through. At the other end of the spectrum, there are other works on NLP or NLP-related techniques that are quite readable but seem geared towards those lacking all self-esteem. This book by O'Connor and Seymour is an easy-to-read, logical, and objective overview of NLP without the claims of life-altering benefits.
For those interested in using NLP to improve communication skills and learn more about how our minds work, this book is the place to start.
Magnificent.......2005-12-29
Informative, Logically sequenced book. I loved it. I wished if it has more illustrations, styling design, and format. It would have made it even more appealling.
Outstanding.......2005-09-05
I very much wanted to get into this little known science of NLP, brainchild of Richard Bandler and John Grinder, for some time. After careful examination of similar books I chose this one after reading some of the page excerpts.
Boy am I glad I did!! This book lays a framework and gives the fundamentals to this awesome science, and does so with such grace and ease that it is mesmerising. It simply and eloquently explains how you can use your brain to it's fullest potential and how to use your senses to design ways to get what you've always wanted.
NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming (don't be turned off by the fancy title) is simply a way of life to help you succeed. It is the language used by winners - the science and art of NLP was invented by studying what successful people do differently to everyone else; how their mindsets allowed them to succeed where others fail.
It's little wonder that this book has got 5 stars from practically everyone who has bought it. It changed my life, and if you are looking for ways to get where you want to be in life then go for it.
Great intro.......2005-09-01
This book takes you right to the core without success stories and other stuffings. Info-packed as it is, it brings you into NLP quick and effortless, describing the concepts in a clear and consistent manner. Recommended reading for all NLP starters.
Book Description
A decade ago, The Oz Principle took the business world by storm. At its root, the principle works like this: Like Dorothy and the gang in The Wizard of Oz, most businesspeople have the tools to succeed, but when things go wrong they blame circumstance or others instead of looking within for the true cause of unsatisfactory results. Once individuals learn to accept responsibility, they can use the Oz Principle to become better leaders.
Now, with corporate scandals in the headlines and the culture of victimization running rampant at every level of the business world, Roger Connors, Tom Smith, and Craig Hickman return with a new edition of The Oz Principle. Fully revised, this edition will update the statistics, concepts, and relevant companies through fresh, timely anecdotes and stories.
Customer Reviews:
I built a company culture on this book!.......2007-10-02
I'm now using this book to build a corp. culture for the second time. I buy a copy for every employee. I know they don't all read it. But, we use it as the text for company meetings, training and performance expectations. Big help in getting people to take more responsibility for our success as a company.
enjoyed the book.......2007-09-30
normally I am a cynical employee and our company is going into this hot and heavy. I figured that for once I should read about something before I talk bad about another fad. I read it cover to cover with a open mind and I agree with what it is pushing and I hope that my company really tries to follow the example.
Sadly, I do not see this taking hold where I work as the "CYA" principal will never go away and that is a shame.
Old Fashion.......2007-06-08
I guess i can understand the purpose of the material. However, it all seems to be common sense to a recent college grad who had to do any teamwork. I would find books on "treating women equal" just as useful. The concept is outdated, these things are already being taken care of in society.
Hackeneyed cliches and unsupported conclusions.......2007-05-15
I could not have been more disappointed in a supposedly useful business book. The entire book consisted of assertions on how "accountability" leads to better results, without a single empirical example to support it. Rather, there were plenty of quotes from Jack Welch (he who had 5 good years out of 20 at the top) and anecdotal stories linked to the Wizard of Oz. How dumbed down has business press gotten? What's next, management according to "Go Dog Go"? It was just bloody awful
Book and tape combo.......2006-02-19
I listened to the tape and used the book as documentation of the most important parts. It worked really well as a study method.
Book Description
Published in 1996 and written by Larry Connors and "New Market Wizard" Linda Raschke. This 245 page manual is considered by many to be one of the best books written on trading futures. Twenty-five years of combined trading experience is divulged as you will learn 20 of their best strategies.
Among the methods you will be taught are:
* Swing Trading - The backbone of Linda's success. Not only will you learn exactly how to swing trade, you will also learn specific advanced techniques never before made public!
* News - Among the strategies revealed is an intra-day news strategy they use to exploit the herd when the 8:30am economic reports are released. This strategy will be especially appreciated by bond traders and currency traders.
* Pattern Recognition - You will learn some of the best short-term set-up patterns available. Larry and Linda will also teach you how they combine these patterns with other strategies to identify explosive moves.
* ADX - In our opinion, ADX is one of the most powerful and misunderstood indicators available to traders. Now, for the first time, they reveal a handful of short-term trading strategies they use in conjunction with this terrific indicator.
* Volatility - You will learn how to identify markets that are about to explode and how to trade these exciting situations.
* Also, included are chapters on trading volatility, trading Crabel, trading the smart money index, trading gap reversals, a special chapter on professional money management, and many other trading strategies!

Street Smarts.......2007-01-26
I never received the book. Apparently the seller used the slowest form of shipping there is. No one knows where the books is. He shipped on 12/27/06. I have since had the sellers refunded and took that business elsewhere and received it in 3 days time.
if you don't like this, you don't understand trading.......2006-12-05
you can always spot s loser by one of (or both) of two reactions:
1- They want to get into a business to make money but think $200 is too much!!
2- They expect what they read to agree with their bias
Anyone who wants to make money but thinks a book is expensive at $170 has the wrong personality for trading. If you are like that, you have no business trading because you are too greedy and a coward.
Secondely, when you are making a comment about someone, it is really important to REALLY be sure that what you are saying is acccurate. The implication that Linda does not make money trading is just ridiculous. The woman is a bloody Market Wizard, for God's sake! She is also a pretty crap promoter of her services.
The book is excellent. The question is: does it contain methods that can make you money? Of course it does. You guys are clearly sleep walking because you are concentrating on believing that every method in the book will make you money all the time under any circumstances. Quit believing that and pick the ones that work under different market conditions. If you can't, it is your fault, not the book's.
If you watch Linda trading, you will see her using those setups under the right conditions. The fact is, if you cannot make money trading the setups in the book, you are either new and have to learn the basics first, or you are not cut out for this business.
This book is over priced and an absolute waste of precious time! .......2006-09-22
If you are new to the trading game, try to avoid getting sucked into the fantasy world of imaginary trading setups.
Turtle Soup, Momentum Pinball, 3 Little Indians? Are you kidding me! Talk about sell the sizzle, not the steak.
Understand the markets first, I would recommend reading books published by the CFA Institute, then read about accomplished traders, you know the guys who actually make money trading as a profession (Dennis, Tudor Jones, Borsellino, etc), then develop your own approach to the markets.
If you're interested in Technical Analysis, you can join the MTA (Market Technicians Association),its well worth the time and money.
Save your money folks! There are plenty of quality classic trading books out there for 90% less, and without all the mindless drivel.
Buyer Beware!!!!!!
Expensive???.......2006-08-23
I bought this book on a recommendation from another trader. I paid a lot less than the $175 they are asking now, but I still thought it was very expensive. I read through half of the book and thought it was interesting. On one of those days I had the book open on my desk and realized that one of the patterns from the book was forming! I waited till the right moment and took the trade on 2 year treasuries. Exited the trade about a minute later with a $225 profit. That paid for the book on a single trade.
I realize I could have also lost $225 on that trade, then the cost of the book would have been around $350. I was now happy with the purchase of the book. I looked for more trades, but did not find any that week. Then the book got pushed aside and forgotten about. I found the book again last week because I heard someone mentioning it. I pulled it out and reread it.
I think the book has something to offer. Is it too expensive? That is hard to say. For me it became free after one trade. Was I just lucky? I don't think so because I can scroll through charts and see a lot of the set-ups in hindsight. So the trades are there, its just a matter of being there to pull the trigger as they happen.
I hope to get more out of the book from this second reading. One thing I have noticed is that many times I read a book and get something. Then upon rereading it I pick up many thoughts that I did not see or understand during the first reading. Maybe I wasn't ready at the time, but having many dozens of books under my belt and lots more life experience in between the first and second readings, I was able to digest more.
Who gave woman a free pass?.......2006-08-07
I am aficionado of good books on technical analysis and this is certainly not a good one! Many of the techniques described in this book were invented by me as well many years before this book was published. Subseqeuntly, I discarded them into my recyclcle bin as worthless. I am not even a full time investor, devoting a good share of my time to real estate. I am just surprised that people are gullible enough to accept this tripe. This expensive book, expensive seminars, expensive internet service. What is this huckster going to come up with next. Perhaps she has gotten away with this sham because she is a female in a predominanatly male business. I too am involved in the national technicans group and I am embarrassed to be associated with such ilk. I have much to contribute to this industry and look forward to doing so in the future. In the meantime, I can only hope these market charlatans mend their ways.

Customer Reviews:
A good read even for an armchair traveler........2007-10-10
I just traveled to Ireland without leaving my chair - that's how I felt after reading this book front to back. I bought this book to learn more about Ireland, from a traveler's perspective. Rick Steves provides a good mix of history and detailed information suitable for travel planning and entertaining enough for the armchair traveler. I enjoy Rick Steves' programs and I plan to purchase more of his books.
A must if you are traveling.......2007-09-20
Once again Rick has made what could have been a dry guide book interesting, fun, and full of information that travelers really want to know. It takes talent to write a book such as his, fun to read for the sake of reading.
I highly recommend Rick's series of Travel Guides. Buy them and enjoy even if you aren't trotting the globe.
Best Book for Ireland Ever.......2007-09-12
Rick Steves really takes you on the best trips around Europe. His descriptions are spot on and his maps are easy to follow. I would never use any other tour book when traveling.
Rather a point of view.......2007-09-07
You have to hand it to Rick Steeves: he carved out a niche in the travel business by focusing on average travelers, and trying to make their journeys better than average with useful information. I agree with his overall philosophy that spending more money doesn't necessarily enhance one's experience. However, he often lapses into a disconcerting lecture -- never quite a rant -- about how Americans should be quiet, humble, considerate, etc. when they venture abroad. I for one could do without his preachy style. If I am considering a trip to Ireland, and have come as far as Steeves' guide for information, it stands to reason that I'm no yahoo who expects a "Top o' the mornin'" from Irish people, or a McDonalds in every town. There are some of us who are educated and curious travelers, just as there are boobs from Over There. But then, Steeves isn't writing a book to lecture European dolts, is he?
Aside from the overdone bits about how rude Americans are, Steeves curiously leaves out some wonderful sights in Ireland from his guidebook. I loved Bantry House, on the Beara Peninsula, but there's no mention of it. Likewise, he neglects the must-see island of Ilnacullen in Glengarriff, with its Italianate villa and gardens. He also missed niceties like the Avoca handweavers (great tea and scones on the go, upscale wearables, etc).
Some of his estimates for how many days to give each town were off. Kinsale rated two days. Though it's a small town, the harbor, fortress, wine shops and surrounding activities alone were worth a bit more time. I don't know anything about his B&B recommendations, other than the fact that his choices were 10-15 euros more expensive than my picks in the same regions, with not much lost in hospitality or cuisine. I realize you can't cover it all, but with the Internet being such a great source of info, it's hard to rely on just one book for accommodations. Experience is wisdom.
Great Ireland Guide.......2007-09-06
Great ideas for minimizing expenses while maximizing enjoyment. Ireland is our favorite place outside of the U.S., but Rick's guide always has "new" information that makes another trip a better experience!

Great Resource for Teachers and Students Alike.......2007-09-17
I notice that a few reviewers have mentioned they found exercises in the book too easy and it's true that the book is geared toward those who may be recovering from injury and/or are new to yoga. That said, as a yoga instructor and long-time practitioner I've found this book to be a wonderful resource. In fact, some of the poses in the book have become staples in my lesson plans (and in my own practice) because they serve - for beginners and advanced students alike - as excellent warm-up poses to begin opening the body or cool-down poses to release the lower back. In addition, some of the poses shown using a chair or wall as a prop are useful both for beginners unable to do the full pose and (of equal importance!)for intermediate students who have experience with the full pose, but have never learned, or are still working on mastering correct points of alignment, which are integral to gaining the full benefits of the pose. Finally, I've found one set of exercises - aimed at identifying and correcting pelvic torsion (a slight - and common - misalignment in which the left hip point is drawn a bit too forward while the right is pulled back (or vice versa) - that I've found nowhere else and which has elicited a lot of positive feedback from student in classes where I've used it.
A few words to intermediate students: (1) If you're suffering back pain, it's quite likely that the Iyengar-based exercises in this book, rather than other, more "advanced" or novel asanas (poses) will prove to be better tools for dealing with it. (2) If you have a regular, committed yoga practice and it either is not mitigating or is making your back-associate pain worse you may need to take a closer look at your alignment in the poses, particularly if you began doing yoga in a vinyasa, or flow style and have never received, or have only minimal instruction on how to align yourself in different poses.(It may also be a good idea to seek the advice of a doctor.)
Although yoga studios tend to frown on mirrors in classes (for good reason), occasionally practicing in front of a mirror(s) at home - particularly with a book like this one that includes "simple" poses and poses performed seated in a chair, which can be done safely while watching yourself - can be quite helpful in identifying habitual patterns of movement of which you're unaware - many of which stem from a belief that we can go deeper into a pose than our current range of motion and/or strength allows, causing us to sacrifice key points of alignment - ultimately reinforcing the very patterns of movement that are sources of pain and discomfort. You may be (unpleasantly) surprised to find that the pictures of some of these very basic poses - ones you "already know" and have "moved beyond" - look nothing like the reflection in the mirror when you actually see yourself in the poses.
Three other superior yoga books that I suggest (and I own upwards of 30) are (1) for beginners and people with limited range of motion [i.e., lacking flexibility], "The Runner's Yoga Book" by Jean Couch (2) for intermediate students "30 Essential Yoga Poses" by Judith Lasater and (3) for advanced students, teachers and anyone who wants a thorough physiological and anatomical understanding of the mechanics of yoga, "Anatomy of Hatha Yoga", by H. David Coulter.
Very Well Written & Helpful Book; Needs Accompanying DVD.......2007-08-09
Dr. Schatz has written an excellent book on back care, integrating a physician and Yoga teacher's viewpoint. Back physiology and mechanics are well explained and illustrated.
Explaining Yoga postures by text/book is hard and one really needs a teacher in person. Short of that video is helpful. Therefore, I wish Dr. Shaatz would either update the book with DVD/Videos or upload the videos on the Internet on sites like YouTube etc. to make her Yoga for Back Care more practical and useful.
Anybody with chronic back pain/problems will benefit from this book and gain understanding of the back pain; and get therepeutic benefit if they do the Yoga.
Extremely Helpful.......2006-08-13
I have scoliosis and this book has been a tremendous resource in understanding and caring for my condition. The book is a good start and it eventually got me interested in taking some yoga classes and exploring some of the different practices. I'm so glad I found this book; yoga has been a positive force in my life for some time now.
Real yoga, really good advice, well written.......2006-08-07
Lots of back pain books provide exercises, but this one takes them directly from the Iyenger Yoga method; Iyenger revolutionized Yoga from the 1960's to the present by applying contemporary knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the traditional and spiritual aspects of yoga. Teachers trained and certified in Iyenger Yoga are a 'cut' above others from my lengthy experience with Yoga practice. That said, dr. Schatz uses Iyenger's methods (Iyenger also wrote the intro) to design a comprehensive program for all types of back and neck problems; she also provides accurate and clear illustrations of the spine structure and related anatomy. The photos are very clear and easy to understand as are the instructions of asanas and restorative poses.. The book is the right length, size and format. Many back problems can be treated. This book offers programs for many of them; also included is a self-analysis of one's own current posture and alignment. This is no quick fix book; the programs she recommends may take a couple of years to 'work' but it's definitely worth it to live a more vigorous, pain reduced or pain free life.
Review by former physiology instructor and past back pain sufferer!.......2006-06-06
This is my favorite book for addressing back pain issues. It presents a great foundation in the basic anatomy of the back and then uses this information to develop the concepts that help people understand why back and neck pain occur and how to correct it.
The book contains progressive exercises and workouts of various lengths that use Iyengar yoga to address back pain. Each exercise is carefully explained and includes good tips on how to perform each correctly. I also like that it provides the rationale for each exercise and important points to focus on while performing each movement.
There are also chapters on specific problems. This is definitely a comprehensive reference and it has helped me a lot with my own back problems. In addition, it is an excellent overall introduction to yoga.
The author is a physician who had back problems herself. She is highly credible and treated her own back problems with the methods described. I recommend this book to anyone interested in an introduction to yoga or wanting to learn more about rehabilitating back and neck problems using yoga.
Finally, if you are looking for another book on this topic "The Pilates Back Book" by Tia Stanmore is also very good. It also starts out more gently and is somewhat more accessible. However, it's not nearly as comprehensive or as detailed in describing the exercises. I own and use both and recommend owning both to people who are serious about understanding and working with back issues. (
Personally, I also found Tai Chi helpful before I was ready to do yoga. However, I don't have a book I would recommend that would be a good standalone resource. If you go this route, it's probably best to find a good teacher who is also a physical therapist or at least has some knowledge of dealing with back and neck related issues.
