Anyone who has read Paolo Coelho, knows how much wisdom there is in his words. This book of short passages are an excellent intro to Coelho if you have not read any other of his books. Wisdom for life, help through everyday issues and plenty of thoughtful insights for all kinds of situations. A must for anyone who ponders 'The Meaning of Life'.

This is a fascinating book. An absolute essential for practising healers, or anybody interested in that field. The author is an extemely intelligent lady, so, I must admit that some of it went over my head, the technical parts that is, but that still does not detract from the books worth. It is the sort of book that you will keep forever as a reference book.

It seems to be a really informative book, the only thing I was not happy about was that there was a stain on the book on the outside pages which covered most of the book. Best Book I've Ever Read!!.......2007-07-24
I re-read this book after 8 - 10 years. It was wonderful then, and even better this time. I believe that God gives us information, but only when we are ready. Like Algebra: You have to learn one concept before moving on to the next. God gives us information as we are ready. With all of the similarities between all of the near death experiences that have been documented, I find in impossible not to believe Ms. Eadie. There were a few ideas that were so new to my way of thinking that I found myself doubting. But, God gave Ms. Eadie a very extensive look at life after death. It took her many years and encouragement from others to write this book, so there is bound to be some loss of memory. So, I am willing to cut her some slack on this. This book renewed my hope and reminded me of what is most important in life. A great, quick read that will really stick with you!!
Lovely - but LOADS of Contradictions and Untruths.......2007-07-21
I just finished this lovely loving book today and I love Betty. This book oozes love.
But there are moments of non love which are also non truths.
Repetitious prayer with sincerity and love is certainly heard by God - that sounded more like a Protestant gripe than the truth.
Then there is the appearance of... the Law of Attraction, again. You attract what you think. If the Law of Attraction were true it would have been talked about by Jesus and would have shown up in the thousands of revelations that came before Eadie - but it was never mentioned until the 20th century.
She got the love part right... we're supposed to love each other but telling people that they attracted their illness, the rape or theft perpetrated against them, tell them they attracted their depression... is not loving.
Suicidal thoughts are usually caused by physical conditions such as a failing thyroid gland (see Dr. Thierry Hertoghe, psychiatrist) so how sinful could they actually be? WE need to love those people more, not hurt them by telling them that on top of their severe illness they are pushing God away.
Nevertheless, I imagine that despite the years wearing on the memory, a lot of it is true. But not all of it. There were plenty of contradictions within the book itself.
A book about an enlightening Near-Death experience.......2007-07-13
I liked this book! It's well-written and easy to read. The author writes about her enlightening Near-Death experience, which I think suits the gnostic ways of thinking. The veil of forgetfullness, Jesus' light as knowledge, power of thinking, spirit to communicate with God, only love matters eventually etc... The Earth is seen as a place of spiritual education. -Though, I don't really appreciate the attitudes towards adapting to earthly churches and defective governing myself.

Silverstein is our favorite author of children's books. He is just perfect! In fact his works are as good for the parents as for their children. Whichever Silverstein's book I bought for any of my five children (each one of them has his own Silverstein), we have ALL read them. That includes my children, myself, and even sometimes my husband. "Light in the Attic" is no exception to that rule. I think that all of Shel's books are equally good. Check also Runny Babbit: A Billy Sook, A Giraffe and a Half, Where the Sidewalk Ends 30th Anniversary Edition: Poems and Drawings. If you are a loving mother that wants to see smile on your child's face, give him Silverstein - it's children's literature classic and a safe bet. A recent discovery for me is Boszenna Nowiki and her series Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 1, Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 2, Why Some Cats are Rascals ( Book 3) with some very touching stories of speaking cats...

a wonderful poem book that makes me laugh........2007-04-15
This book makes me laugh every minute I read. It makes me confused sometimes. Like the poem the Meehoo with an Exactlywatt. It was somehow confusing but still as funny as any poem in that book. This book could be for any age because no matter what age you are, it will still make you laugh. A Light In The Attic is for anyone who loves funny poems like me. Shel Silverstein's books have wonderful illustrations especially the one on the front cover that has a boy with a roof shaped head with someone smaller looking out. I only had one question about Shel Silverstein's books. It is that I have no idea how he got all these ideas for all his poems .

I have been buying this book and Where the Sidewalk Ends as gifts for children for many years. As a reading teacher, I guarantee these books certainly will get kids into reading very funny poetry. Many of the now "grown up" kids tell me they still have this book from their childhood. That's a pretty good review in itself.

I've read a ton of books on candle rites and spells, and this is my favorite. It has versions for Christians and Pagans. I think it's fasinating and there are rituals in here for many occasions. All of the ones I've tried have worked well for me. Is it magic, or the will of suggestion? I believe in magic, but does it really matter? IT WORKS!!!

this book is great it doesn't spend alot of time on the ethics and history of magick but gets right into some very usable spells, and gives both a Christian and Pagan variation on each so everyone can use it.
Not very practical........2007-07-26
I think Mr. Buckland and I have very different definitions of the word, 'practical'. He appears to use it in reference to 'everyday things', meaning one can use candle magic for 9-to-5 type things as well as emotional/spiritual purposes.
I, however, do not think one can use 'practical' without including the meaning of 'cost-and-time effective'. Some of the rituals suggested in this book call for *several* candles, of various colors, with an emphasis on not 're-using' candles. Unless you have a store near you that sells candles relatively cheaply, this can put you back a good amount of money, aside from whatever you spend on your regualr practice.
Now, since a sensible person does not leave even a single candle burning unattended, you get to babysit all those candles--because in Mr. Buckland's opinion, you can't re-use candles, can't snuff them and re-light for the same purpose. Some candles can burn for as long as 12 hours! Not very practical!
All the focus on colors, incense, etc., made me think this was more like Dumbo's feather than a primer on candle magic. The inclusion of Psalms seemed odd to me. While I suppose it was done in an effort to appeal to a wider audience, I don't think it worked. For Wiccans with no desire to include Christian scriptures (and who can blame them? Those Scriptures rightfully belong in the context and beliefs of that religion, not Wicca), the Psalms are unnecessary padding to flip through.
For Christians... well, to most Christians, practicing magic of any kind is anathema. I think Mr. Buckland made a mistake here, and assumed that since many Catholics light candles to the saints and the Holy Mother as part of their worship, *all* Christians would do so. (They don't, and there are certainly plenty of Christians who would object to being considered Catholic!)
Truthfully, this book is dated. THere's nothing in it (aside from the Psalms) that is not also readily available in most "Wicca 101" books. There are other books on candle magic--I recommend "The Candle Magick Workbook" by Kala and Ketz Pajeon. Much more focused, and far better suited for people wanting to personalize their practice.

I have had this book for about 5 years now. I have done the same spell a few times, and so far, each time I have done it, I have seen successful results. I did a new spell recently, and as soon as I finished it, it came true. Put your mind and body into the entire process. Imagine and really feel the words that you are saying as you do the spell. Do it continually until the end, have patience and believe it'll happen...that's all I have to say.

One Star is One Star Too Many.......2007-09-24
George Noory is no Art Bell. He is ignorant of many of the subjects on which he interviews people, and you can occasionally hear a smirk in his voice when he's talking to a caller. He does occasionally have an interesting guest, but C2C generally has become drivel since Art Bell's latest retirement. I sure hope that he comes back. The book is as bad as the show. It is a surface treatment of serious esoteric subjects, written for mass appeal with no depth of treatment or understanding. If you're interested in a particular esoteric topic, use amazon's search feature to find a book that examines that subject.
George prefers to be the subject,not the host.......2007-09-21
I was once nightly listener to C2C.I thought GN provided a good "changeup pitch" as he spelled Art every now and then.I also thought GN was a very good transitional host when Art left.Then,little by little I began to notice less is more with George,his patronising tone and need to "inject" himself as a story in himself would have me skipping the show more and more.I picked up this book and took a chance that I had misread ole George,it only reaffirmed my feelings.I don't hate George,but I've reached the point where he's turned me off C2C,Ian's not bad though.
Worker in the Dark.............2007-09-18
The book is as disappointing as GN is as the host of C2C. So far from the high benchmark that Art Bell created for his show. Any of the guest hosts would be a better choice to hand the show over to than GN. But back to the book.... but it's hard to separate the two efforts, words like "shallow" and "unoriginal" come to mind to describe them both. This author(?) thinks he's so enlightened and spritual, when the content of this book, like his comments/questions on the show, are just re-warmed, unoriginal dogma that made me want to close the book and watch t.v. - which is what i finally did, in fact. Nothing new or inspiring here to keep you turning the page. Had to give it 1 star because it's the lowest rating - but would have given it 0 stars if it had been possible. Save your money - so not worth it. My (used) copy is now gracing the shelves of my neighborhood Goodwill. RIP.

If You Enjoy Paranormal Biographies -- You'll Like This book.......2007-08-21
I just finished reading "Worker in the Light" by George Noory and I've got to say - if you're the least bit interested in the reading about the paranormal - and you enjoy reading biographical material -- this might be a good book for you.
George is well known as the host of America's top late-night radio talk show, Coast to Coast AM (where a diverse array of educated and then seemingly-brain-dead listeners call in to talk about anything that's NOT main stream media; they talk about ghosts, vampires, astral travel, sasquatch sightings, alien abductions and more).
In contrast . . . the book has very little to do with the Coast to Coast radio show - so if you're expecting "expert interviews" with reputable resources working in the paranormal you might be disappointed. Instead -- "Worker in the Light" shares Noory's very personal experiences with paranormal and psychic phenomena, and while he also quotes outstanding and reputable resources, most of this book is about how he has gone on his own journey toward finding greater wisdom and universal truth.
The book is easy to read and I am still marveling at how readily George admits he's toyed with thoughts from the negative side -- even used dark thoughts to see if he could manipulate others. He learned a valuable lesson from such experiments (the negative energy came back to haunt him) and that's largely the reason behind his motivation for working in the light these days.
I felt this book was a very honest look at one man's journey toward self empowerment and the reader picks up a whole lot of "how to" tips along the way (such as learning how to enjoy much more vivid and significant dreams, how to astral travel, how to use your mind for the benefit of all of society).
Noory quotes many reputable sources for his findings and presents a number of compelling ideas for self empowerment. He gives examples of how he asked listeners of the Coast-to-Coast radio show to focus their intention on the same phenomena and then he documents the results of that collective though process.

This book has some really pretty pictures, which I enjoyed looking at, but it really helps teach you about the different candle colors and how these colors represent spacific things in life. Very interesting book, I really enjoy looking at it and learning, daily.

I am a huge fan of Sylvia's and I love pretty much all of her other products. But this one, did not quite meet my expectations...
I don't think it flows or reads well...I think the intent is good.

I found this book to be very spiritual and calming. It was a nice peaceful release to read this book as well as replicate things in this tranquil and upbeat book. It has many candle setups to use towards your current mood to highten your connection to whatever you feel like being more connected to. This book will slow you down and make you look inside and around you and go hmmm I need to slow down and be calm. It was enchanting to see this book with all it's majestic candle rituals. I am very intrigued to try some of Sylvia's other books.

This is an adorable little coffee table or end table book (I currently have it on my end table in my room) and I always look through it for cute ideas about decorating my house with candles. I've always been into the power of candles and I LOVE anything Sylvia Browne writes, so when I saw this on Amazon.com, I had to get it. It's GREAT! It has advice for what candle scents to burn, what candle sizes to burn, how to arrange them, what colors to get, different meanings or occasions that certain candles are for... I absolutely love it!

What a lovely little picture book! It's kinda like a "sorry your feeling poorly" card, but extended and with very helpful information. Perfect for when a beloved person or pet passes over, or there is illness or unhappiness of any type in someone's life. With greeting cards at $4 and up, this makes it a bargain at about $10 discount, because the person can actually get (or remember) some helpful advice to call on their angels and spirit guides through the power of candles. Plus, if you know of an indigo or crystal child, they love this stuff and will be very pleased with it. (I have an indigo daughter and am always looking for spiritual books that she will love without saying they're "whacked--and that's not the way it is, mom!"). So please purchase with your needs in mind. It is not an extended, detailed treatise on a topic in sprituality, but it is very pretty and very comforting.

This book is amazing!!! My aunt recommended it to me. She is a healer and has always talked to me about cords and chakras, but I never fully understood how it all fits together until now. This book is incredible. It explains scientifically, spiritually, emotionally how it all works energy wise, and I am learning and continuing to learn so much. Truly amazing, and I highly recommend this book!!!

I read Emerging Light with some high expectations, having read Hands of Light. This book was a dissapointment to me. It seems that Barbara followed the path of "I wrote one successful book, therefore I can cash in one the craze" that many authors do. There wasn't a lot of really relevant information here, though a few tidbits here and there. When she discusses the cords it didn't seems anywhere near as accurate as when Mark Rich writes about them in Energetic Anatomy. The part about the core star isn't anything I had ever heard of and didn't really resonate with me much. I think sticking with Hands of Light is probably a better idea.

I have listened to Adventures in Odyssey for 8 years, It is by far the greatest Radio Drama Series I have ever heard. The genius in Odyssey consists not only of the interesting stories, characters, and superb writing. But, in the understated comedy of the show, When listening to this you will find yourself smiling, and laughing (and maybe even falling off your chair) In the midst of the craziness and stress of life. It teaches christian values and principals, all while keeping kids laughing and interested, Though its geared toward children, its a show for all ages. With something to keep everyone interested. This particular Odyssey album Into the Light, is a fantastic example of everything Odyssey has represented throughout the years. As the 47th album in a long line of wonderful albums, It definately lives up to Odysseys legacy. I would highly recommend this album and all the others to people of every age. You will not be sorry, and you'll catch yourself buying up all the other albums as well.... A very worth while investment.

I was extremely pleased with the content of WHEELS OF LIGHT. I could tell from the start that the author put a lot of thought into every paragraph. Each chakra is historically and metaphysically described. There are helpful exercises for you to do to balance and vitalize the chakras. I especially love the way the author relates chakra "health" to physical and mental health. The illustrations are grand and you'll feel "boned up" on chakras and auras by the time you finish reading this excellent text.

When I was younger, I picked up this book at the library but put it back because of its outdated design cover. I recently saw it again at a bookstore, and decided to buy it, and I do not regret it at all! This book was exactly what I was looking for on the chakras-- it's not too textbook-like, and it's written from a humble, intuitive perspective. I just wish that it were longer! Out of all the chakra books I have read, this one by far has taught me the most on energy, vibrations, auras, etc.

Wheels of Light begins with an introduction to the "mysteries" of the chakras. It reveals the touching story of the Rainbow Warrior who healed and prophesied because he could see the rainbow beyond the rainbow. Color, vibration, and auras are explained in detail.
