Book Description
What if a zombie had a mind of its own? Where would it go? What would it feel? And would it carry a 30-pound shovel?
In a future plagued by legions of undead creatures, both human and animal, the earth is a dark and dangerous place - not only for the few remaining humans who still cling to life, but also for a unique group of zombies who remain mysteriously self-aware.
Xombie: Dead On Arrival follows Dirge, a mortally challenged monster with muscles to spare. Armed with reason, and impervious to death, he will face unspeakable horror on his way to reunite a lost little girl with her family. Can he protect a single living soul from certain death? Can he outrun the nebulous forces behind the zombie plague?
And, most importantly, if a monster saves a human life, is it truly a monster after all?

XOMBIE - Dead Cert For Hard Core Fans Of On Line Comics.......2007-05-08
If you are a fan of the on line comic series you will enjoy this. If you are not a fan, it will seem a bit ho hum. Bottom line is that this is a good example of the genre, and it has the legs for a sequel, or even a full length feature.
Inspiring book........2007-04-14
I thought for a while maybe there wasn't much to a zombie story besides just a few people left running for their lives and a cheap story behind it. Xombie on the other hand, is a great book that drives your imagination to a whole new world. I regret to know the ending before the animation but I could not contain myself and had to know. This book is wonderful.
Considered a treat for your imagination in my point of view.
Me likey Xombie.......2007-03-02
I am a big fan of the zombie genre - yet I am also a snob about it. I refuse to buy just ANYTHING w. zombies. I found 'XOMBIE' to be a total new twist on the genre. Satisfying, smart, with a great new world and characters. The premise is great - what would YOU do if U woke up a zombie? Still had your ability to think but were a zombie? Much like Anne Rice's vampire series, XOMBIE takes a look at the wounded psyche of an involuntary monster in a really fresh way.
Book Description
This book is the product of years of working with expecting dog owners both to resolve child/dog issues as well as to prevent them. After speaking with one person more than I cared to that was forced into surrendering their beloved family companion because they hadn't taken measures to prevent problems I decided to put everything relevant on the subject into writing in hopes that others would not have to undergo the same ordeal.
The first section involves relationship building and the elmination of annoying behaviors that would be problematic in the presence of a young child such as counter surfing, door crashing, jumping up and so on.
The second section deals with more serious behavior problems such as object guarding, fearfulness, separation anxiety, territoriality and more.
The third section discusses criteria for determining whether you should consider rehoming your present dog given certain dangerous behavior problems.
The final section explains how to prepare for your child's arrival and teach your dog to develop powerful positive associations with him/her while at the same time exhibiting acceptable behaviors and becoming more closely integrated into your "pack."

Good book w/ a few great ideas.......2007-09-29
I work in a vet hospital and have trained many dogs. A lot of this book is basic dog training and should be in every home that has children. This book mostly recommends positive reinforcement but does recommend using a waterbottle and a few other ways of getting the dog's attention. However, some of the ideas towards the end were great at preparing our dogs for the upcoming baby. I just wish I'd gotten it sooner.
The Directions I Was Looking For!.......2006-12-19
I wish someone could have told me the info I really wanted begins on page 95! I have a very obedient and well trained Doberman but I KNOW the temptation baby toys are going to pose to him! I wanted a book that would tell me how to get him to "understand" what are his toys and what are not and to learn to be careful around the baby.
The fist 94 pages of the book went over what I would consider basic training that any in-house family dog would need to know. It was boring for me to read and my dog already does all of it and more. (We have even taught him the difficult, intangible command of "other". This is not in very many books because there are only a handful of dog breeds that could comprehend such a vague idea but I don't know how we would live without it! Commands like "other side", "other paw" and "other bone" are SO helpful!)
It wasn't until page 95 that I felt my $11 had been well spent. First, the author tells you to get rid of all dog toys that look like baby toys, such as plush toys, etc. Then he says to use a teensy drop of Listerine on some BABY toys and place them in a pile with dog toys and not allow your dog to touch any of the baby toys. This is very clever - the mint scent would easily designate what is the baby's and my dog would very clearly understand this. (He was recently crushed when a toy plush monkey arrived as a gift for the baby and it got put in the nursery closet instead of being given to him. I have known that when the baby is born and the monkey comes out, there is a Doberman death sentance waiting for that little chimp! The Listerine trick will work perfectly, I'm going to put a dab on the tag and add monkey to the pile of toys he's not allowed to touch!)
Next I was worried about the dog sniffing at the baby too hard and for too long. (You Doberman owners know what I am talking about - they can really shove that slender nose into you!) The book, like other websites I have seen, mentions you should carry around a baby doll wrapped in a baby blanket and train the dog to not go near where you set the baby down. The author encourages as much realism as possible.
In addition to this, the author gives very good reasons why the dog should not be allowed anywhere near where you feed the baby or around the high chair. Yes, I am looking forward to having my dog do most of the food pick-up off the floor, but he is only allowed to do that AFTER everyone eats. While you are all eating, the dog must stay far back so that he doesn't view the child as a source of food and steal snacks from him later. (I KNOW my dog would do this because I have seen him weasel goldfish crackers out of neighbor children's hands while they were standing in curious silence, in awe of his licking their hands.)
We have already been practicing not letting the dog into the baby's room, as the author suggests, mostly to avoid getting dog hair on all the new baby stuff! We will continue this practice and make sure he understands he's not to ever enter without us. (The author promises this will be handy some day when the child is rolling on the floor, either laughing or screaming in a temper tantrum, and the dog wants to play "the new game".)
This book DID have the information I was looking for at the end of the book and I am happy that I bought it. I think this book has the potential to be the ONLY dog training book you need if you are getting a dog and will some day add a baby. The steps you are given are very easy to do and will be fun for you both!
Not bad, Tons of Information.......2006-08-18
I did like this book, it was not bad at all. There is tons of information that has been somewhat helpful. I am 8 months pregnant and trying to help my dog get adjusted before the baby arrives. So, I am following some of the tips that the trainer gave and we will see what happens next month...
Great dog training book, baby or not.......2005-08-30
The Doggie 12-Step Program in this book is one of the most effective, easy to understand, and easy to implement, training tools I have come across. I have a rescue dog that I was too soft on at first because of his fearful nature. I am now trying to definitively establish myself as "alpha" and the 12-steps are working fabulously. It's a simple outline, yet enough theory is offered for every step so if the situation doesn't totally apply you can come up with some modified version for each step and have a variety of exercises to work with to establish your role as pack leader. I've purchased a zillion books for my messed-up dog and this is far and above the most useful.
This book may save your dog's life.......2005-08-27
The behavior you tolerate from your dog before your baby is born may become intolerable after your baby is born. Does your dog sleep on your bed? Bark at passerbys? Run through the house? Beg for food? Pull on the leash? Refuse to come at the park when he finds something more interesting than you? Each of these behaviors take on a whole new dimension when you have a baby in the house.
Imagine cuddling in bed with your sleeping baby only to have your dog jump on the bed and start rolling around. Imagine spending an hour getting your baby to fall asleep only to have him awoken by your dog barking at your neighbor's cat walking down the sidewalk. Imagine your dog barreling through the house while your little one is toddling about. Imagine walking down the street with your baby in your arms or in a stroller and having your dog pull you all over the place. This is not a pretty place to be. You love your dog. But you will love your baby more. If you don't have a baby yet, it is hard to imagine loving anyone more than you love your dog. But, it happens. And, you will grow to resent your dog when he/she interferes with the quality of your baby's life. I know because I have three dogs and a ten month old baby.
Wombacher's book has restored sanity in our lives and taught us how ALL of us (my husband and me, our baby, and our dogs) could co-exist in a way that works for everyone. In particular, if you follow his Doggie Twelve-Step Program you will effectively teach your dog that you are in control, not him/her. You will be able to keep your dog quiet while your baby is sleeping. You will be able to take your baby AND your dog for a walk. You will be able to have your dog in the same room as your baby without worrying about your dog running your baby over.
Some other reviewers have objected to Wombacher's advice because he suggests the use of some aversives like a squirt bottle. If you are lucky enough to have a dog who responds to positive reinforcement only, lucky you! But, not all dogs are so compliant. I learned this the hard way with my dog who became more and more dominant and headstrong despite endless "good boys" and treats. Positive reinforcement is great for teaching the nuts and bolts of obedience, but it doesn't allow you to exert control over a dominant dog. I worked at a humane society that only employed positive reinforcement techniques. Unfortunately, I watched several beautiful, intelligent, fun-loving dogs get euthanized because they were out of control and positive-reinforcement-only training didn't address their underlying dominance issues. They could sit, down, stay, shake hands, and speak on command; but when it came to barking or chasing squirrels or resource guarding, the positive-reinforcement folks failed and the dogs were euthanized for being "unadoptable." I realized that I would rather squirt my dog with a spray bottle and put a citronella bark collar on him than have to take him to the vet to be euthanized after he hurt my child.
A must for anyone with a baby (or a baby on the way)!

Do you want to know? Would you know where to even start looking for the details? Author and genealogist John P. Colletta prepares you to undertake the search. He tells you not only what fundamental facts you need to know about your immigrant ancestor before beginning, but suggests where you may find that information as well.

They Came In Ships.......2000-04-24
There is an unbelievable amount of information packed into this book and it is organized in a way that works for both the experienced and new genealogist. I had almost given up finding my immigrant ancestors in several lines I'm researching until I discovered this gem. By following the step by step information given here, I was able to find them all! Don't overlook the bibliography. The information in it alone is well worth the price of the book. Thank you, Dr. Colletta!
An Excellent Resource.......1999-11-28
Concisely summarizes the methods by which passenger lists can found. Highly recommended.
Invaluable Genealogical Tool!.......1999-08-24
If you are, as I was, baffled by the maze of microfilm and sources involved in trying to track down your ancestors' ships lists, you need this book!! The author very clearly explains the how the films are indexed, the exceptions to the rules, etc. Perhaps the most useful aspect of this book is the way the author walks you through various examples of how to take whatever information you have about your ancestor and how to use the indexes to track down where to start searching for your ancestor's ship. I read this book cover to cover twice, then tackled the library, and finally accomplished something! I recommend it VERY highly.

Since its publication in 1934 almost two generations ago Strassburger and Hinke's Pennsylvania German Pioneers has been the cornerstone, virtually the bible, of all Pennsylvania German genealogical research. Its three volumes contain the verbatim passenger lists, including the original signatures, of virtually all of the 30,000 heads of German-speaking families who arrived in the port of Philadelphia during the fifty years prior to the American Revolution. The total of 65,000 passengers covered in these lists represent roughly two-thirds of all German-speaking immigrants who arrived in American during the almost one hundred years 1683-1775!
Owning a set of Pennsylvania German Pioneers is absolutely essential to any research on German-speaking immigrants prior to the American Revolution!
This is the first complete reprint of Pennsylvania German Pioneers. Also, our reprint includes a new Introduction by Lewis Bunker Rohrbach, CG; corrections of the few lists incorrectly identified; and reference to the two lists not found in 1934. If you purchased the incomplete 2 volume reprint done in 1966 and reprinted in 1980, you will want to purchase the missing middle volume (Volume II) to complete your set. Similarly, libraries whose sets are incomplete for any reason can purchase the missing volumes separately.

Excellent!.......2005-11-20
There are many versions of this set of books floating around on the Internet and otherwise. What is not obvious is that THIS set offers a lot MORE. It contains copies of the original lists, transcriptions of those lists, and an index. I have never seen another version of this set anywhere that includes all THREE.
I have been researching family history for 10 years and offering free lookup services to others for three. This set is truly a gem in my collection. If you have the extra money to spend, BUY THIS SET! You won't regret it!

A must have set of books for ancestors of PA German pioneers.......2001-09-02
I must say that Amazon didn't say that the book I purchased was a set. I chose the book that had 2400 plus pages, and it did in fact turn out to be the 3 volume set. It is a must have set of books for the geneology buff.
I have found numerous ancestors in these books. I would highly recommend them.
The excitement of finding my ancestors signature from 250 years ago was the best part!!!
Book Description
Because the direction to targets is usually expressed by the direction of arrival (DOA) of transmitted signals, determining the direction of arrival (DOA) of any signal is of critical importance to electrical engineers working on both civilian and tactical applications in radar and communications. This cutting-edge resource presents the latest developments in DOA estimation from the leading researchers in the field.
The first compiled book in the field, this in-depth reference covers a wide range of key topics, from DOA estimation methods and source localization problems, to specific applications of DOA estimation and experimental setup and results. Practitioners discover how DOA estimation is one of the main functional requirements for direction-finding smart antennas in next generation mobile and stealth communication systems. The book also serves as an excellent text for graduate students and researchers studying in this area.
Book Description
"A path-breaking work, rich and mature, complex but readily accessible. It unites the many facets of . . . 25 years of innovative research and leads us out of the once-irresolvable dilemmas of contemporary archaeology."--Geoffrey W. Conrad, William Hammond Mathers Museum, Indiana University
"Charts a new course toward a broader understanding of Taino society, myth, and archaeology at the dawn of the Spanish colonial period. His approach livens the archaeological record and illuminates our reading of the documentary record."--Dave D. Davis, Tulane University
Applying the legend of the "stranger king" to Caonabo, the mythologized Taino chief of the Hispaniola settlement Columbus invaded in 1492, Keegan examines how myths come to resonate as history--created by the chaotic interactions of the individuals who lived the events of the past as well as those who write and read about them. The "stranger king" story told in many cultures is that of a foreigner who comes from across the water, marries the king's daughter, and deposes the king. In this story, Caonabo, the most important Taíno chief at the time of European conquest, claimed to be imbued with Taino divinity, while Columbus, determined to establish a settlement called La Navidad, described himself as the "Christbearer."
Keegan's ambitious historical analysis--knitting evidence from Spanish colonial documents together with data gathered from the archaeological record--provides a new perspective on the encounters between the two men as they vied for control of the settlement, a survey of the early interactions of the Tainos and Spanish people, and a complex view of the interpretive role played by historians and archaeologists. Presenting a new theoretical framework based on chaos and complexity theories, this book argues for a more comprehensive philosophy of archaeology in which oral myths, primary source texts, and archaeological studies can work together to reconstruct a particularly rich view of the past.

Beyond Archaeology.......2007-09-22
Archaeologists who cannot go beyond archaeology are just grave diggers. And Bill Keegan's recent work entitled Taino Indian Myth and Practice is an impressive effort to go beyond to enter the world of ethnohistory, mythology and linguistics and return the amerindian past some of its humanity. But more so when his attention is focused on the life and deeds of an individual, taino chief Caonabo of Maguana, who just happens to be the first american leader to oppose european conquest as early as 1493 in what was to be called Hispaniola. Caonabo is the first heroe for all of America. The interdisciplinary approach to history is the only intelligent way to recuperate the past with its human meaning. My congratulations !

Misses The Mark.......2001-11-15
The book serves as a good reference to the general reader as is intended. However, I found it very confusing to read at times, and its purpose does not preclude it from this. 1) It is not chronological- jumps around/back/forth. 2)Use of misnomer is irritating- eg. And so on May, 1838 the Whitby and Hesperus landed in Guyana with a cargo of 396 Indians...(pg.22) Guyana in 1838? One does not have to be "academic" to find this jolting. 3) It completely omitts discussion of the contribution of Indians to sports although they attained international renown, figures such as Kanhi & Kalicharran, for example. say, what gives?
Nevertheless, very informative and worth the price.
Informative, to say the least.......2000-06-29
Dr. Mangru has prepared a most interesting and concise document explaining how and why the Indians arrived in Guyana and the many roles they played in the development of the country. This book, presumably written to supplement the multicultural studies classes in the New York City metropolitan area secondary schools, it is one that should be read by all.
Dr. Mangru further explains the whys and hows of the Indian-Guyanese migration to New York City. He honestly discusses inter as well as intra segregation among all Guyanese.
This book is concise and worthy of inclusion in the book collection of anyone who is interested in learning more about this rapidly growing group of people.

Easy, timeless craft projects.......2006-11-13
I bought this book to add to my collection of craft books after seeing the author on the Carol Duvall Show. I have found it to be a great resource for simple baby crafts that are absolutely timeless. My personal favorite - and one I have made for several new babes in our family- the Teddy Bear sock rattles. Variations on this one are pretty much endless and make a terrific keepsake Christmas tree ornament later. My granddaughter and I enjoyed making our version of the Musical Crib Mobile together and we used the Baby Handprint Pillow as the first project she did as her first sewing machine project.
I've been crafting for many years. Ironically, now that I am older, I have neither the patience nor the time to do intricate, time-consuming projects. But yet, I still enjoy creating hand-made gifts because I know the value of such gifts. The only things I saved from my children's babyhoods were those little treasures someone took the time to make by hand.
Besides being well done, this book is full of great, easy craft projects constructed with inexpensive materials-a boon for me. Sprinkled in among the clean, uncluttered exquisite photographs and instructions, there are plenty of hints, tips and ideas as well.
If you're looking for a collection of difficult to complex "artistic" craft projects, this book probably isn't for you. If you need inspiration and quick to accomplish crafts for gifting or teaching youngsters the love of crafting, I highly recommend this one.
not very cute.......2006-10-25
The crafts are not very cute. They look like a child made them. The cutest ones are on the cover. The rest of them are really dumb. You could use this book to come up with your own ideas, but other than that, I really was not happy with the ideas or examples in this book.

I love the show!!!!!.......2005-10-02
Wow!!! the show is awesome, but i haven't read the books yet in fact i didn't even know there were books, but the show is awesome and I agree with Kiara TOM WELLING IS SOOOO HOTTTTTTT!!!
Although u can have Orlando Bloom. LOL
who cares.......2005-07-01
Who cares what the book was like? Tom Welling is the sexiest man on earth(along with Orlando Bloom). He can have my vote ANYDAY. He gets 5 stars just for being sexy.
Nice Adaptation of Pilot Episode.......2005-06-16
Good adaptation of the first ep of Smallville. It was nice to read everyone's inner thoughts on what was happening and the little tidbits that weren't in the show when it first aired.
Pete's crush on Chloe is so adorable. They would've made a cute couple on the show (Though, if I heard right, Pete and Lana end up getting married).
All in all, not a brilliant book but a nice addition to the Smallville book series.
Well-Written Adaptation of Smallville.......2004-12-21
Arrival starts off the hit television show Smallville in a readable, visually-written Smallville book tie-in series. Though it is based on the first episode, Michael Teitelbaum was able to capture the episode into a teen book that still entertains, is true to the television show, and manages to give you more insight into the background of each character. If you collect the Smallville book series, you should have this one.
Smallville is the best!.......2004-02-16
This books gives the readers a lot of backgroud information of the Clark Kent adventure. He was brought to the Earth during a meteor shower, to the Kents. He was just like a gift to the Kents. He grew up into an extraordinary boy, having special abilities and great strength. This is a story which makes me "bookthirsty". I am totally amused by this smallville series and love it so much.
