Book Description

Why is it that our current twenty-first century a.d. is so similar to the twenty-first century B.C.? At a time when religious fanaticism and a clash of civilizations raise the specter of a nuclear Armageddon, many ask: Is history destined to repeat itself? What does the future hold? Will biblical prophecies come true, and if so, when?

Ever since Zecharia Sitchin, in his first trailblazing book The 12th Planet, brought to life the Sumerian civilization and its record of the Annunaki—the extraterrestrials who had come to Earth from their planet Nibiru, fashioned mankind, and gave us civilization and religion—questions have abounded. Are the ancient gods still here, or did they leave? Will they return? What will happen then? Will there be another Deluge or Apocalypse when Nibiru meets Earth? What about “Planet X” and the Mayan 2012? What about Jesus?

In The End of Days, a masterwork that required thirty years of additional research, Sitchin dares to give the answers by presenting compelling new evidence that the Past is the Future—that mankind and its planet Earth are subject to a predetermined cyclical Celestial Time.

Tracing historical events from the messianic fervor and use of nuclear weapons in the twenty-first century B.C., Sitchin resolves ancient enigmas like the Nazca Lines or the origin and significance of the Cross, the Fishes, and the Chalice, places in context the events of the Last Supper and hidden clues like those in Da Vinci's painting, explains the space-related reasons for the everlasting centrality of Jerusalem, and—following in the footsteps of Sir Isaac Newton—deciphers the Time Code in the books of Daniel and Revelation and of the Day of the Lord and the End of Days prophecies.

In this remarkable and relevant conclusion to his bestselling The Earth Chronicles series, Sitchin shatters perceptions and uses history to reveal what is to come at The End of Days.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Awesome FICTIONAL work........2007-09-26

What a great story! From a purely fictional point of view that is. But please don't take Mr. Sitchin seriously. Yes, he's done a lot of work and he's very passionate and I believe HE believes all that's in his books. But if you want facts, follow the work of true scholars.

There are plenty of reviews on this book and even more opinions I'm sure.

What's more important than a review is a call to reason. People - please... Just because you want or need to believe something is true doesn't mean that it is. When dealing with history and languages, I would highly recommend reviewing the work of true and accomplished scholars. Do this and you will likely get complete (as much as is possible) and the most accurate picture of the past as one can.

His credentials in no way qualify him to make such claims. If nothing else, look at his credentials and ask yourself how is this man qualified to make such claims?

I drive a fancy sports car and can give you the exact specs on the engine and body, from top to bottom. I could WOW the best of them with all the tech talk about the engine, transmission, suspension, etc. I could even carry on a detailed conversation with the mechanic if I had to. But I can tell you with certainty that if I was given a shop full of tools all to myself I couldn't fix my fancy sports car if it broke.

If you take your car into the shop be worked on, do you want the guy who talks like he knows what he's doing working on your car or do you want the guy with all the certificates on the wall that's PROVEN he knows what he's doing working on your car?

This is the case with Mr. Sitchin and his books. He talks a good line but has no credentials to prove he's anything more than just a fanciful talker.

Mr. Sitchin graduated from the University of London, majoring in economic history and he was a journalist and editor in Israel. How does this make him an expert in ancient Hebrew and the old Testament? In Sumerian culture? IMHO, this is a classic case of someone learning enough about an ancient language "to be dangerous". He absolutely sounds like he knows what he's talking about and sadly that fools a whole lot of people.

Like many, I was very taken initially with his ideas. But too much didn't add up. After months of research I was quite disappointed to realize that the basis of at least some of his theories (the ones I researched anyway) were too full of holes to be true.

There is an upside though - this a GREAT fictional story!

Real seekers of truth will check multiple sources and validate claims from many different sources. Do this and in time you will find the truth.

If you are looking to be entertained, look no further.

3 out of 5 stars A LITTLE BIT CONFUSING..........2007-09-13

The book somewhat confused me because of some claims. The author also states that the reader should read his other books to understand this book clearly. Nevertheless, I still admire Zecharia Sitchin for all his efforts.

5 out of 5 stars A Keeper.......2007-09-06

Buying a book is one thng haveing it be worth the storage space another. This is worth the storage space.

1 out of 5 stars Creative .......2007-08-27

Sitchin can spin a tale of fiction that is inspired to say the least. He is universally hated in the astronomical, archaeological, and historical communities for his attempt to pass pseudo science off as fact. If fact is not what you are after, then buy this book and invest in a tinfoil hat.

3 out of 5 stars A little disappointing ****** SPOILER ALERT *******.......2007-08-21

I've read all of Sitchin's books and was always pleased at the conclusion of each one. They were like adventure quests of hidden knowledge with the worst case scenario being a nice scifi story (and what a story!). This one left me wanting. I believe he just wanted to put his two cents in about 2012 even though he doesn't think it will be a date that anything significant happens. I think he's got a better theory floating around in his head but didn't want to share it for whatever reason. The beginning of the book is a bit boring as he has to tell the back story. The middle is more interesting with more detail about the tales of the annunaki and their petty power struggles. The end was a bitter disappointment to me. His theory on the davinci last supper painting, in which he thinks the space between jesus and mary/john is where elijah should be and the missing cup being the grail that elijah took, is just lacking. To me the alternate grail theories make more sense and have better documentation. Obviously this book is a must read if you've read the rest of the series as how can one not read the supposed last one but it doesn't hold up to his prior standard. When does Sitchin think the annunaki will return? Sometime in the age of pisces .... and that only leaves up to anywhere from 100 years from now to about 800 years from now depending on if you are going by the math or by sight.

Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

3 out of 5 stars Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description

Will the past become our future? Is humankind destined to repeat the events that occurred on another planet, far away from Earth? Zecharia Sitchin's bestselling series The Earth Chronicles provided humanity's side of the story-as recorded on ancient clay tablets and other Sumerian artifacts--concerning our origins at the hands of the Anunnaki, "those who from heaven to earth came." In The Lost Book of Enki, we can view this saga from a different perspective through this richly conceived autobiographical account of Lord Enki, an Anunnaki god, who tells the story of these extraterrestrials' arrival on Earth from the 12th planet Nibiru. The object of their colonization: gold to replenish the dying atmosphere of their home planet. Finding this precious metal results in the Anunnaki creation of homo sapiens--the human race--to mine this important resource.

In his previous works, Sitchin compiled the complete story of the Anunnaki's impact on human civilization in peacetime and in war from the fragments scattered throughout Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Hittite, Egyptian, Canaanite, and Hebrew sources--the "myths" of all ancient peoples in the old world as well as the new. Missing from these accounts, however, was the perspective of the Anunnaki themselves. What was life like on their own planet? What motives propelled them to settle on Earth-and what drove them from their new home? Convinced of the existence of a now lost book that formed the basis of ancient Sumerian texts holding the answers to these questions, the author began his search for evidence. Through exhaustive research of primary sources, he has here re-created tales as the memoirs of Enki, the leader of these first "astronauts." What takes shape is the story of a world of mounting tensions, deep rivalries, and sophisticated scientific knowledge that is only today being confirmed. An epic tale of gods and men unfolds, challenging every assumption we hold about our creation, our past, and our future.

5 out of 5 stars Very different from the others books by Stichiin.......2007-05-13

This book is a little bit hard to read because of the unusual English language; this is not at all an everyday English language. The construction of the sentences is the opposite way that it is usually. But anyway, this book is a must! This book is very different from the others. There is a lot of new information.

1 out of 5 stars Extrremely Muddled Thinking.......2007-04-29

The first book in this series sounded so plausible. Reviewers pointed out the fact that he almost never identifies his sources, and many of the sources they could indentify turned out to be wrong, but what the heck, I could live with that. By the second book he's already beginning to write more from imagination than reality, and in the last one he writes an entire "Bible" in the words of his imaginary space guy. I love "true history of the world" kinds of books, but this guy shows a progressively worse lack of regard for logic and reality as he proceeds. For a better read, try The Mayan Prophecies : Unlocking the Secrets of a Lost Civilization

5 out of 5 stars The Lost Book of Enki .......2007-03-09

If you find all the earlier books of Sitchin a hard read this book makes it far easier to understand. Out of all of his works this is the one that I go back to on a regular basis.

3 out of 5 stars Interesting but drags..........2007-01-10

I'm really into Sitchin and his theories so this attracted me. But while interesting as all his stuff is, this is really a dull read. I can only take a few pages at a time.

It may look like fiction but it is not... I already had this treasure and I bought it for my friend (the yogi). He got addicted to Sitchin books. I'm grateful there is someone in the earth that knows very well Sumerian to translated for all of us and let us know the truth...

Book Description

Reveals the common origins of the ancient Egyptian and Mayan civilizations.

• Shows how these cultures had the ability to gaze into the heavens to predict the future unfolding of humanity and their place within the cosmic order.

• The author's revelations about the Freemasons' connection to this ancient knowledge generated a firestorm of controversy in Europe.

• By the author of the bestseller The Mayan Prophecies.

Maurice Cotterell's background as a scientist, mathematician, and engineer helped him to decipher the code of the ancient Maya, revealing the mystery of their science and religion to an extent never before possible. Using the same techniques, the author turns his attention here to deciphering the secrets encoded within the tomb of Tutankhamun. His extensive research revealed that both the ancient Egyptians and the Maya possessed a sophisticated understanding of sun spot activity and other astronomical phenomena--facts recently confirmed by modern science. Knowledge of the connections between solar patterns and human destiny allowed the Egyptians and Maya to harness the energy generated by the sun to achieve spiritual enlightenment and soul growth.

The link between reincarnation and solar energy encoded in the tombs of Tutankhamun and the Mayan Lord Pacal is a jealously guarded secret held by a select number of occult groups, including the higher orders of Freemasonry. The author unleashed a firestorm of controversy in Europe when he exposed much of the esoteric knowledge of the Freemasons, including one of the society's most carefully concealed secrets: incarnate gods like Lord Pacal and Tutankhamun have come to earth to help humans achieve spiritual enlightenment, soul growth, and individual realization as solar beings.

Amazing, spiritual and full of incredible secrets. I wish I have read this book before I travelled to Egypt and Mexico. I remember the places, but at that time I could not understand all the details and the story behind it. This book explains in such details the way of thinking and planning of little details for future generations to discover the secrets of The Mayan, Tutankhamun Prophecies.
After reading this book, I look at the stars at night and my mind just drifts away.

3 out of 5 stars K Shea.......2004-08-18

Solar flares are the reason behind all our problems and the the world can only be saved by mathamaticians. Aside from the usual "Hey look Mom, I figured out the meaning of the pyramids" stuff that seems to be in all of these esoteric books there is a smacking of truth in amongst all the those calculations. It may not be enough to support some of the theories put forward by Mr. Cotterell but it is certainly food for thought. If you don't mind wading through the math, there are at least 144,000 seperate calculations, then I would reccommend the reading.

3 out of 5 stars The tutankhamon speculations........2004-07-15

The book starts with a short introduction of previous work the author has done regarding the Mayan culture. As he explains, he cracked a secret code the Mayans used to leave messages to future finders. The code involved a jade mask and a lid of a sarcophagus. The author discovered that when one projects images of these mirror onto itself, new pictures form. He presents the readers with his ideas regarding these images and the explanation thereof.

In my opinion, the author makes a few excellent points in this introduction, and I do genuinely believe he really is onto something regarding secret messages and the way to decode them; however I cannot help but feel as if at times the author sees things that really aren't there. He is determined to prove himself right, and thus presents 'evidence' that's at times very meager and very open for discuussion.

After this introduction, the author switches from the Mayans to the Egyptians, and specifically secret messages left in Tutankhamon's tomb in the form of objects. Obviously a great lover of math, he picks a few random objects from the treasure and goes on to analyze them. All their pecurilarities are counted, multiplied, and summed up to always come to the same set of numbers.

Again, I cannot help but feel as if the author is trying to fit everything to his own conclusions. He believes the Tutankhamon is one of the super-gods, just like the Mayan emporer, Buddham and Jesus. He presents his case by referring to the divine number 144,000, and various things that links the Mayan emporer to Tutankhamon (For instance, both are identified with a feathered snake. The Mayan emporer by Quetzeqotl, Tutankhamon by the cobra and the eagle of his crown). Furthermore, he draws a few conclusions that are blatantly speculative in my opinion. As an example, the author quotes a list of known 64 pharaos, noting that neither Achnaton nor Tutankhamon (Achnaton's son) were recorded on this list. Then, he tries proving that a necklace found in the tomb, carrying 64 complete and 2 broken beads, represents this list. This is in my humble opinion, a little far fetched.

The third part of the book starts with an account of a UFO sighting, and moves from energy lines to telepatism, and how freemasons possess secret ancient knowledge. Why this is included in the same book is a puzzle to me; the connection to the 'middle chapter' about Egypt is unclear, and the third part is highly speculative.

All in all, I'd recommend against buying this book. I do fully intend to read the author's other book on the cracking of the Mayan code, but feel as if I gained very little by reading this book; loosely linked theories are presented by the author as solid evidence, and used to prove other theories assumptions he makes. All this leads me to believe the case the author is trying to build is shaky at the best.

5 out of 5 stars A Book That Will Shake Your Senses.......2003-05-25

I bought this book thinking it was reference about the Mayan calendar end date. I was wrong. This book is a totally new revelation of an age-old theory that was concealed within the ancient carvings of two breathtaking civilizations, and a secret society with an agenda not known to anyone. What totally interested me is the sceitific approach Cotterell took in his analysis, and although his methods might seem to some people as intricately improbable, I think that he employed the sciences of maths and physics into an outstanding revelation of ancient knowledge. I think most readers of this genre are true believers that ancient wisdom outmatches our own, and that the knowledge known to our great ancestors will probably never be available to us. So in this fine work of his, Cotterell analysed buildings, tombs, treasures and literature of ancient Maya and Egypt, applying numerous scientific theories and equations to draw on his conclusions. I personally am a big fanatic of ancient civilizations and I believe that the Mayan culture was narrowed down to its calendar, while the secrets within their culture are uncountable. Same goes with the Egyptians who mystified the new world with their culture. The greatest thing about this book is that it attempts to create bonds between its different conclusions, and it never fails to back up any statement with illustrations and scientific proof. By the end of part 1 I was amazed, and although I haven't read Cotterell's first book, The Supergods, this book managed to give me a fair summary of what the previous one concluded. The secret revealed is not anything you would expect. Some might believei it's a simple idea, while I personally believe it's an outstanding revelation. If you're a reader of Zecheria Sitchin, Erich Von Deineken or others in this genre, you will most likely ponder for hours after reading this one.

Book Description

During the Roman Civil War, as the forces of Pompey and Julius Caesar fight a series of battles in the provinces over control of the Republic, Rome itself is a hotbed of intrigue as those left behind wait for word.In this tentative and treacherous environment, a beautiful young seeress is murdered in the marketplace.Possibly mad and claiming no memory of her own past, Cassandra - like her namesake - is reputed to have had the true gift of prophecy and, as a result, she became a confidante of the rich and powerful. Gordianus the Finder, who had become obsessed with the woman and her mystery, starts to investigate her murder. As the political situation in Rome continues to decay, the citizenry veers towards ruin, and everyone waits for word out in the far off fields of war, Gordianus begins to peel away the veils of secrecy that surround Cassandra's life and death. What lies underneath involves one, possibly many, of the most powerful women in Rome and the truth could not only put Gordianus's life in danger but affect the very future of Rome itself.AUTHORBIO: Steven Saylor has had a lifelong fascination with ancient Rome, from the drive-in movies of his boyhood (Cleopatra, Spartacus, Ben Hur), to his degree in history from the University of Texas, and through his appearances on the History Channel as an expert on Roman politics and life. He is the author of nine volumes in the Roma Sub Rosa series, most recently Last Seen in Massilia, as well as A Twist at the End, a historical novel set in 19th century Texas. He divides his time between Berkeley, California and Austin, Texas.

3 out of 5 stars Last Tango in the Subura: Gordianus and the Prophetess.......2007-01-31

While Caesar and Pompey are in Greece preparing for the ultimate showdown of their civil war, Rome is in dire straits under its Caesar-appointed custodians. Food is in short supply and the economy has all but collapsed with soaring inflation and a population deeply in debt (including Gordianus). Utter chaos could ensue at any moment as several opportunists exploit Rome's weakness to gain power for themselves. As if things weren't bad enough, Gordianus' wife Bethesda has fallen under a mysterious ailment that threatens to be fatal. Gordianus and his family are in the Forum seeking food (and hopefully a cure for Bethesda) when the beautiful but obviously deranged woman called "Cassandra" (for her alleged gift of prophecy), runs to Gordianus and collapses in his arms telling him before she dies that she has been poisoned by another woman. It turns out that Cassandra and Gordianus were not strangers. They were, in fact, secret lovers. (Yes, at his age!) Since Cassandra was a beggar with no relatives, Gordianus gives her a funeral. To his surprise, seven of the richest, most powerful women in Rome (including the wives and mistresses of Caesar, Cicero and Mark Antony) come to watch her body burn. Gordianus is sure that one of them is the murderer. Keeping his grief secret, Gordianus tries to identify the killer, as he is drawn deeper and deeper into Cassandra's complex world. Who exactly WAS Cassandra? Where did she come from? Why was she there? Was she a genuine seeress? A clever actress? A spy? Or all of the above? If she was a spy, who was she working for and why?

A MIST OF PROPHECIES is a more conventionally "Agatha Christie" structured mystery than the previous volumes: a murder is committed, the suspects identified and then interviewed to discover the killer's identity. I was sure I had correctly guessed the murderess and her motivation at the end of Chapter 13, but I was wrong! Once again, what really makes the novel worthwhile are the colorful details of daily life in the Roman Empire. This book doesn't have the depth that some of the previous volumes have (e.g., THE VENUS THROW), but it's one of the faster-paced entries in this series and a lot of fun. At this point, there is only one more volume in this series after this book. I really don't want it to end! But A MIST OF PROPHECIES hints at the intriguing prospect of Gordianus' daughter Diana and her husband Davus entering the family business as a team. So maybe it won't be over!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing work.......2006-08-29

Saylor has definately become a master of his art. Each of the characters are so vivid, it is obvious that Saylor treats each with respect and critical thought has been put into view point analysis. The images Saylor uses to bring Rome alive are personal and palpable. Its as if Saylor travelled in time and really hung out with these people.

The story line really didnt draw me in to the novel that much. But if anyone can make a story about a bunch of bickering old ladies facsinating, you better believe that it is Saylor who will do it.

Although the story line didnt excite me, the realness of the characters that did. I mean, I almost feel like I was down their by the river with Gordianus and Clodia.

5 out of 5 stars Saylor has regained balance. .......2005-10-11

Well, Gordianus continues to be entirely implausible as far as actual Late Republican Rome was concerned. But then this novel manages to obtain an eerie athmosphere, as Gordianus enters old age in earnest in a setting of civil war, chaos and impending doom, the telling of the story revolves around a savvy counterpoint structure, and the mystery is actually satisfactory and not a pretext for displaying historical erudition. I look foward to reading the next novel - something "Last seem in Massilia" didn't quite manage to do.

5 out of 5 stars Ancient Rome at its Very Best.......2004-11-14

Gordianus the Finder is accosted in the marketplace by a beautiful young woman. She staggers towards him and dies in his arms. The woman is known as Cassandra by many, but this is not her real name, but a name given by the people who believed she had the true gift of prophecy. lots of people would pay handsomely for this gift, others would do anything in their power to supress it. Cassandra has had the ear of some of the most influential people in Rome, people who would stop at nothing . . .
Obsessed with Cassandra's death Gordianus sets out to investigate. What he uncovers has serious implications concerning some of the most important women in Rome and puts Gordianus in serious danger of losing his own life.
Saylor brings the sights, sounds and smells of Ancient Rome to life yet again, surely this is how it must have been.

3 out of 5 stars OK, But Could Have Been Much Better.......2004-05-31

"A Mist of Prophecies" was a disappointment. Granted, it was an above average novel, but it had the potential to be much more.

The novel opens in Rome in 48 BC when the city is in tumult and the city government is hard pressed to maintain basic law and order. There is an alleged prophetess who goes under the name of Cassandra and who like her Trojan namesake is widely believed to be able to forsee the future. However, she is poisoned and detective Gordianus the Finder decides to try to figure out who's responsible for the dirty deed.

So far, so good. However, the plot unravels from there. Gordianus decides that the killer must have been one of the seven prominent women who went to Cassandra's funeral although it is not clear on what basis he makes that determination.

One problem with mystery novels set in past historical times is that the detectives are invariably private citizens who do not have any legal power to compel folks to talk to them. Nor do they have any sort of investigator's license to give them legitimacy. So, the authors of these novels generally have the suspects answer just about every question put to them by the hero except the one that would establish who done it. When a suspect refuses to answer a particular question, you know right then and there that this person is either guilty or a red herring.

In the case of "A Mist Of Prophecies," the reader can figure out who the villainess is early on in the book since the author, Steven Saylor, failed to establish a plausible red herring. The guilty party in this novel just about did everything possible to make it easy for Gordianus to determine her guilt so much so that she might as well as gone around in public with a target painted on her back.

While the mystery part is weak, the historical part is the novel's strength. The reader learns a lot about Roman history during this important time period in a way that holds the reader's interest. Additionally, the novel is well written and has richly drawn characters.

Overall, I give it 3 out of 5 stars, but it could have been so much better.

Book Description

Reveals how the super-science of the sun and the higher orders of spirituality are concealed and contained in the Holy Grail

• Connects the discovery of 4,000-year-old Celtic mummies in China with the transmission of this ancient knowledge

• Documents the truth of the Holy Grail’s connection with King Arthur and Joseph of Arimathea

• Confirms the pedigree of the Grail using secret information from the Mayan Pyramid of Inscriptions in Mexico and the Gateway of the Sun in Peru

Using the same knowledge that enabled him to break the codes of the Mayas, Peruvians, Egyptians, and Chinese, Maurice Cotterell now follows the migration of the Celts 4,000 years ago from Asia, across Europe, to Ireland. His account of this epic journey together with his knowledge of the secret codes of the Celts help him to identify and locate the Holy Grail, the actual cup used by Christ and his disciples at the Last Supper.

The author explains the true story of the Grail: how it contains the secret super-science of the sun and the higher orders of spirituality; how it was carried to England by Joseph of Arimathea; how in A.D. 453 it was found by King Arthur, who engraved it with the same esoteric information found on the Pyramid of Inscriptions in Palenque, Mexico, and the Gateway of the Sun at Tiahuanaco in ancient Peru. His discoveries reveal that the Grail does actually radiate light, in accordance with the Arthurian legends, proving that the so-called legends are actually based on fact. The author goes on to show how the holy cup was passed for safekeeping to the monks of Lindisfarne, who copied the secrets of the Grail into the Lindisfarne Gospels and the Book of Kells. Fleeing from Viking raids, the monks carried their treasures to Ireland, explaining how the cup found its way to the Dublin Museum--where it rests today.

This book was an enjoyable read. Like many coast to coast authors his research is great and very interesting, but ... The conclusions he comes up with I do not share with him. He relies too much on a set of numbers and that could be found on any evidence if looked hard enough for. Overall a fun and interesting book, but still doesnt prove his claims to my satisfaction. File this book under specualtion.

Do they know something you don't?

What lies in store for the world as the next millennium approaches? Will it be fire, famine, a world in chaos--or world peace, the eradication of hunger and disease, the coming of the fabled "Age of Aquarius" promising a paradise on earth?

Prophecies--are they the crazed musing of lunatics and madmen or the grim portents of doom form the lips of seers whose visions pierces the veil of time itself? Renowned prophecy expert John Hogue has collected a thousand such predictions for the days to come, as all humanity sits poised on the brink of a new millennium. Are we headed for Eden...or Armageddon?

Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, Krishnamurti, Ruth Montgomery, the biblical prophets, and more offer answers to the most urgent questions about the next thousand years.

    5 out of 5 stars Depressing & Bleak.......2003-10-05

I love this book. John Hogue really knows how to mess with your feelings about life, spirituality, and humanity in general. Excellent book; I've read it twelve times and now the librarians are beginning to know me by name.

3 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but highly inaccurate.......2001-12-01

I felt the book was entertaining but that it was highly inaccurate and contradictory.
For example, it stated very blatantly that Al Gore will be our next president. Al Gore wasn't our next president.
This is just a small example of the many inaccuracies of the book.
My only recommendation is to only read the book for entertainment value and to not spend alot of money on it.

4 out of 5 stars Presentation of a perennial mental infancy.......2001-08-23

If one glances on the grand visionary prophecies, the single trait becomes visible: they all, whether the author is known to the general public or not, speak about the beginning and the end of human destiny. What shall we deduce from that ? First, just a brief digression: it has always been something of a puzzle (at least for me) that Islam (save a few Koranic ayets) or Chinese tradition don't pay much attention to deciphering the end time. Of course, some, like Chinese or Japanese or, to some degree, Hindus, do not look at these things as symbols of compressed human condition. For them, the show goes on & on...forever. Why- they are too polite to ask. Or petrified....Never mind. So, let's cast a glance on Christian or Amerindian prophecies: they share the same "vision" of death & resurrection of the humanity. In short, they tell you: my friend, we're going to die, and, what's the best, to die in throes of moral & physical decadence (usually, wars & pollution go hand in hand to seal our destiny). Then, after some miraculous happenings (good ole Saoshyant, Messiah, whatever...appears on the scene), we will be transmogrified & divested of our infernal passions live happily ever after. We got death & rebirth & unspeakable post-resurrection life. When I consider these panoramic visions (not just tallying the events, like Nostradamus or Malachy), an agent-provocateur thought always strikes me as a lightning: why would this simplistic picture be accurate ? They speak of fulfillment of man's destiny in extremely fuzzy language. What about death ? Or other forms of life ? Or- why would the continuation of life in a body, that is, a restricted & "shackled in" existence be *the* happy end ? By the way: they also point to ancient "wisdom" teachings (ewww, I dislike this...). Summarily: if you stick to the cosmic law (call it tao, me, maat, logos,dharma... take your pick)- then you have Life. You are life in the greater tapestry of Life, which is the embodiment of the Law. Otherwise, if you err....well, my friend, you're doomed. There is something infantile in these narratives, at least for my taste.

4 out of 5 stars A good compendium of thought and speculation.......2001-01-07

John Hogue's catchily titled _1000 for 2000_ has compiled a thousand prophecies for the future -- some from other people both ancient (Nostradamus) and modern (Edgar Cayce) and many others from Hogue himself. The book has been trashed by some people because it freely enters predictions without any limits on the credibility or possibility of the predictions entered within. But why must an author censor himself . . . or other people for that matter? Hogue never tries to imply that he believes all of these will come true; rather, he is collecting the ideas of various prophets into a single book, so that the reader can look at all the thought that's out there on the subject of the future.

Some of the prophecies listed are indeed unlikely, and others are very general and describe things that will inevitably happen and already have been happening (as #719: Baha'ullah's statement that "Soon the present-day order will be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead"). Especially amusing is that Hans Holzer "predicted" at #341 that "Important battles will take place in the Middle East. Europe will also be affected by war". The Middle East has had its most important wars in centuries lately, but hasn't Europe always been at war?

There are others, though, that show a remarkable wisdom and foresight for their days and age. At prophecy #37, Cheiro described in 1931 a future of global warming. At #789, Mother Shipton, as far back at 1561, realized that the androgynization of dress was to come: "And now a word in uncouth rhyme / Of what shall be in future time: / For in these wondrous far-off days / The women shall adopt a craze / To dress like men and trousers wear / And cut off their locks of hair". Many other nearby quotes came from peole who were able to know that women's equality and liberation was going to be inevitable, in times when it was unthinkable to more mediocre, average minds.

Interestingly, John Hogue himself stated as early as 1993 that "President Clinton will complete his final term, despite all attempts to unseat him" (prophecy #726). And just note the year the prophecy after that was made!

Looking at the prophecies on pages 133 and 134 about which is the one true religion that "will rule the new Heaven and Earth" gives the reader an amusing and perceptive look at just how ethnocentric and personally biased prophecies can be. Various Jewish prophets have formulated the thesis that "Only the Jews are the 'Chosen People' and only their faith will survive the holocaust. Jerusalem will be the religious capital of the world", while the theory of Sikh prophets has congealed that "Only Sikhs will survive the holocaust. I guess Jerusalem will move to Amritsar, Punjab". Any intelligent reader could obviously draw a message from the juxtaposition of predictions in that section; it would help him to see that skepticism is needed when observing blindly based prophecies. Conversely, there are also several Catholics themselves who see that the end of the papacy is coming near, and many of THEM are included in the book as well.

Hogue has come up with many ideas that are valuable in shaping the way people think. He notes: "Nostradamus horrified his readers when he said that someday kings would no longer rule the realm and mobs of peasants would be in power. We call this democracy". He devotes a section to several prophecies of his own that conservative followers of societal norms will be unnerved by: "Euthanasia accepted", "The end of race", "The end of places of worship". The book really makes people think.

And yet other prophecies provide wisdom in their own right, whether you believe them or not: #618 is G. I. Gurdjieff's 1920s declaration that "Even if only a hundred people remember themselves, the world can be saved". Osho states in #798 that "Unless you understand that the West is in urgent need of a new way of life, more and more outrageous reactions will be there around you, and you will be responsible for it". And just look at Osho's wit in prophecy #812!

Over hundreds of pages and prophecies, _1000 for 2000_ allows anyone to look at a thought-provoking and highly varied assortment of beliefs about the future, from many different sources and predictive methods, all gathered up into one place.

    2 out of 5 stars Fiction.......2000-10-04

Hogue knows how to cater to the gullibility of people. As a work of fiction it creates some excitement.

How is America tied into ancient biblical prophecies? According to author Michael Evans, a fundamentalist Christian minister, biblical prophets already predicted that America is doomed to collapse unless its government stops accommodating the Arab world for the sake of oil and instead offers full military and diplomatic support to Israel. He believes that God wants Israel to have full control of the West Bank and Gaza, and Americans are risking God's wrath by not fully supporting this biblical mandate. Evans also theorizes that much of America's problems--including the attack of 9-11--are indications of God's fury over America's split allegiance between the two famous descendents of Abraham: Ishmael and Isaac. "We are caught in a tug of war between two brothers--between oil, political expedience, and conscience in many ways--and it our decisions and polices concerning these two brothers that will determine whether the United States will survive or go the way of the Roman Empire," he writes. Evans's prophetic foundation begins with the parable of the fig tree (Matthew 24:32-44), in which he interprets the various signs Jesus gave his disciples to mark "the final age and his return." Obviously, the Bible can be interpreted many ways, and Evans uses 17 chapters to weave in interpretations of scripture that support his theory that America faces a mammoth choice--ruin or salvation. Although actual quotes from scripture are rather sparse throughout the book, he concludes with a five-page index of "Ancient Prophecies" that indirectly support his theory. One caveat--Evans (Beyond Iraq) does not hide his vehement anti-Muslim leanings. This book will probably be offensive to Christians who practice religious tolerance and lean toward a more-inclusive solution to American diplomacy in the Middle East. --Gail Hudson

    Book Description

New York Times bestselling author Michael D. Evans explains ancient biblical prophecies about current events that affect America's role and destiny in the twenty-first century. 'Why do they hate us?' That's the anguished cry of Amer-icans who still seek an explanation for the terrorist attacks on the United States two years ago and the continued political violence against U.S. soldiers, diplomats, tourists, and missionaries. Today, Americans live in constant fear of the next major act of domestic terrorism-but instead of gaining international sympathy, the U.S. finds allied support more tepid than ever. Now, Michael D. Evans sheds light on political events from a prophetic perspective in a thought- provoking look at the biblical prophecies written more than 2,000 years ago that predicted these current hostilities. America is targeted, he says, because of its friendship with Israel, its foundation on Judeo-Christian principles, and its basis in democracy. He also warns that the attacks will continue and that Scripture predicts a demise for the United States if it compromises its allegiance to Israel and its constitution's moral foundations.

From the time George Washington placed his hand upon a Bible and swore the oath to become the first president of the United States, the Jews-and more important, a Jewish homeland-have occupied a crucial place in America's history. The second president of the United States, John Adams, declared toward the end of his life, "For I really wish the Jews again in Judea an independent nation." Now internationally renowned Middle East expert and biblical scholar Mike Evans traces the efforts of American Christians to help establish a Jewish State through a "prophetic memorial," a declaration presented to five successive American presidents outlining the biblical mandate for a Jewish homeland. Evans describes in fascinating detail the events that led in 1948 to the birth of the nation of Israel.

The hatred of the Arab world for the West-and toward America in particular-can be traced entirely to this nation's identification with Israel. America flirts with danger, Evans says, when it accommodates the Arab world merely for the sake of oil. As God said to Abraham, "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse." America's prophetic future hangs on the nation's moral vision and clarity.

The hostility of Islamic fundamentalists toward America can be explained succinctly, Evans asserts: It is rooted in bigotry, the ancient prejudice against Jews. Yet, says Evans, "America is cursing what God has blessed (Israel) and blessing what God has cursed (rebuilding Babylon [Iraq]). Does the Bible reveal what will happen to a nation that does this? A thousand percent yes!"

It explained some of the things in the past that I was too young to be interested in. It helped explain why we are in some of the predictments that we are in because of past leaders decisions.

George Bush has a heart attack and dies. Obviously he goes to hell, where the Devil is waiting for him ....

"I'm not sure what to do," says the Devil. "You're on my list, but I have no room for you. As you definitely have to stay here, I'm going to have to let someone else go. I've got three folks here who weren't quite as bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let you decide who leaves."

George thought that sounded pretty good, so he agreed. The Devil opened the first room. In it were Richard Nixon and a large pool of hot water. He kept diving in and climbing out, over and over.Such was his fate in hell.
No!" said George. "I don't think so, I'm not a good swimmer and don't think I could stay in hot water all day."

The Devil led him to the next room. In it was Tony Blair with a sledgehammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing the hammer time after time. "No! I've got this problem with my shoulder. I would be in constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day." commented George.

The Devil opened the third door. In it, George saw Bill Clinton lying on the floor with his arms staked over his head, and his legs staked in a spread-eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing what she does best. George Bush looked at this in disbelief for a while, and finally said "Yeah, I can handle this."

The Devil smiled and said, "OK, Monica, you're free to go!"

After reading this book, I was curious as to what other readers had to say on Amazon. I was surprised to see that the overall rating is close to 5 stars. After reading some of the reviews, this is probably because most of the reviewers can be lumped into the category of "Christian literalist" who believe in a fundamentalist view of the Bible and Christianity in general. Well, I'm not one of those and I'm here to tell you that this book is more dangerous than it is helpful. While it was interesting to get the authors views of the players and motivations behind the founding of the modern state of Israel, I absolutely diagree with the foundations of his arguments. Simply put, his Christian biases are too much to take seriously and will do nothing but widen the gulf between Western and Middle Eastern ideology, be it religious, political or social. For those readers who have an open mind, don't waste your time with this book. For those of you with a fundamentalist outlook, do yourself (and the rest of us) a favor and open your eyes to a new way of thinking.

    Book Description

Decodes the message inscribed on the Great Cross of Hendaye in France

    • Uses the work of 20th-century alchemist Fulcanelli to predict the date of the fatal season of the apocalypse

    • Shows how periodic galactic alignments may cause catastrophes on Earth

    • Examines how the secret of the center of the galaxy reveals the true location of the lost civilization of Atlantis

    • Reveals the alchemical secret of the imperishable Light Body of ancient Egypt deep within our DNA

The Mysteries of the Great Cross of Hendaye reveals one of Western occultism's deepest secrets: The alchemical transformation of base metal into gold is also the transformation of the current Iron Age into the Golden Age. Based on the work of the enigmatic 20th-century alchemist Fulcanelli, authors Weidner and Bridges show how the greatest alchemical secret is that of time itself and that coded into an obscure monument in southwestern France--the cross in the town square of Hendaye--is the imminent date of the apocalypse. The authors' explorations of this symbolism lead them from the cross of Hendaye to the western facade of the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, the Pyrenees, ancient Egypt, and the secret origins of Atlantis in Peru, to reveal that we are indeed living in a "fatal season" and that this season is intimately connected to our solar system's alignment with the galactic center. The authors' in-depth examination of alchemy's connection with the coming end days also reveals that this astro-alchemical knowledge was part of the sacred science of the Egyptians and the Atlanteans, whose coded messages are, at last, deciphered to guide humanity to its future destiny.

    1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time.......2007-05-20

I had high hopes for this book. The author was featured on a radio program I listen to and gave a good interview, but on actually getting and reading the book I went from excited to mad in just a few chapters. Quite frankly, the author knows nothing about esotericism, to say nothing of a basic conceptualization of history. He starts out with talking about the book, then veers off into a discussion of Abraham, i.e. the mythical Patriarch, asserting that Abraham was given knowledge by god that the secret to the universe had to do with an alignment of the earth with the galactic center. Are you a little sceptical yet? You should be. After this revelation the author makes the assertion that the Tree of Life glyph in the Kabbalah actually refers to a constellation and that, moreover, when you fold it one way you get a mystical cube, which somehow has something to do with the galactic center. Absolutely no evidence is given for either one of these things.

It only gets better from there on. He goes on to talk about, for no obvious reason whatsoever, new age theories about how DNA generates photons.

The research, if there was any beyond an afternoon's worth, is terrible, the book makes no cogent arguments or presents any evidence to support the muddled assertions and in the end basically asks the reader to take it all on faith.

And because one permutation of the inscription on this cross at Hendaye yields the word "Urcos" and because the authors googled it, or looked it up in an Atlas I think they said, and found that there was a town named "Urcos" in Peru......suddenly Peru is the heart of an Atlantean civilization whose descendants are the Basque people of Spain and France, because Hendaye is close to the French Basque country.

The mind reels. It also reels at how exactly the authors can reconcile a literal belief in the existence of Abraham with a belief in some pre-cataclysmic civilization in South America.

This book held a lot of personal interest for myself, being Basque. I believe the Basque people are deeply involved in the "Salvation" of mankind and always have been.

Un updated, much expanded edition of A Monument to the End of Time

In 1926, an enigmatic alchemist called Fulcanelli published a book called "Le Mystere des Cathedrales", or Mystery of the Cathedrals, which explains how Gothic cathedrals have hermetic and alchemical secrets encoded into their architecture and sculptures. In 1957, a second edition appeared, and included an extra chapter on the significance of a monument in the town of Hendaye in the Pyrenees. The monument - an engraved pedestal with a pillar and engraved cross - was built around 1680. The Mysteries of the Great Cross of Hendaye is a thorough exposition of the hidden meaning encoded into this Hendaye Cross.

The authors have traced the alchemical thread back to Egypt; to the first Gnostic groups, and re-exposed the fact that behind alchemy lies a triple transmutation - inner, outer and time. The inner transmutation is the refining of the psycho-sexual energies and fluids; the outer is using the inner change to transmute physical states; the third is the same transmutation applied to the whole Earth, changing the Age of Iron to the Age of Gold. The 4 ages - Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron relate to the 26,000-year cycle of precession, with the Fall occurring when the Tree (the celestial axis, or earth's rotational axis), points away from the centre of the galaxy. "Resurrection"or "redemption", occurs when the Tree points towards the centre of the galaxy. This is the point when the "sparks of light" - our souls as fragments of God - return to the source.

The thread is traced from ancient Egypt to the Coptic Church, the Gnostics, the Hebrews, Islaam (the Sufis), the Order of Sion, and the Knights Templar, the grail romances, the tarot, and, with increasing persecution of heretics, the engraving of cathedrals, and finally, the Rosicrucian movement.

The 4 engravings on the pedestal are found to refer to the 4 tarot trumps; The Star; The Moon; The Sun, and Judgement. The pillar is the Djed, or Earth's rotational axis ( Moira Timms has already pointed this out see Raising the Djed). The two "x" engravings refer to the winding of the ecliptic and the equinoctial points, plus trump 20, judgement. The "ocruxaves pesunica" engraving means "the secret concerns a cross and a snake which somehow measures the 12th part". When combined, these clues (along with clues from the kabbalistic Tree of Life, whose 22 paths correlate to the 22 tarot trumps), the authors conclude that half a precessional cycle ago, the spring equinox fell on the cusp of Leo/Virgo; 12,960 years later, in 2002, the autumn (fall) equinox will be in the same position. The planetary attributions of the tarot trumps, combined with the orientation of the faces of the monument confirms that 22 September 2002 is the date in question. Trump 14, temperance (Alchemy), correlates to the direction of Galactic centre, while trump 21, the World, correlates to the opposing Galactic edge.

Fulcanelli implies that the cross at Hendaye signifies a "fatal period" of a "double catastrophe". If autumn equinox 2002 is the mid-point of a 20-year period (the XX engraving implies this), this may imply the last katun of the Mayan "Great Cycle"(13-Baktun cycle), since this is the nearest autumn equinox to the katun mid-point (12 Feb 2003, Long Count date 12.19.10.0.0). The authors were stunned to discover that Paul LaViolette has been warning the world of just such a double catastrophe, in the form of a galactic core explosion, which he already tentatively linked to the 2012 end-point. The first effects would be "electromagnetic shifts...crustal torque, pole shifts, tidal waves and high winds", the second catastrophe would be "an explosion of the sun's corona caused by the influx of cosmic dust pushed by the galactic superwave".

Fulcanelli also said that the inscription "ocruxaves pesunica" revealed a place of refuge. By clues from Fulcanelli, the authors arrived at 2 anagrams: Inca cave, Cusco, Peru, and Hail to the Cross at Urcos. The authors were again amazed to find not only caves at Cusco, but a nearby town called Urcos with a cross. Sadly, the original cross had been destroyed, but they concluded that the place of refuge may be either the caves at Cusco, or the legendary tunnels under the Andes, if someone finds an entrance.

The authors suggest that we should learn to "weave" our "Bardo or transitional body into nicely fractal flows of self-awareness" simply by meditating on compassion, as suggested by the work of Itzhak Bentov (Bentov explains in Stalking the wild Pendulum p.33-36 & 54-56 that in meditative states, the breathing is so gentle that it no longer interferes with the feedback of the aorta, allowing the system to become resonant, allowing the whole body to resonate at the same frequency as the earth - 7.8 Hz. How this is affected by the increasing rate of Schumann resonance remains to be researched). We shall thus be ready to be "harvested", to become a soul inhabiting a star, like the pharaohs of Egypt (see Star Birth Bardo in the Body of Orion). The Paris Papyrus gives some clues that the transformational process may be triggered by the light from the glow of the exploding galactic centre, triggering a cerebro-chemical outpouring which fuels an internal light that externalizes as "the shining light or star body of imperishable quality". The authors suggest that we need to prepare by performing a ceremony every equinox, in which the kabbalistic tree of life is "projected onto the Celestial sphere", a technique developed by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

    5 out of 5 stars WOW.......2006-07-28

I've read many books regarding the "2012 dilemma," but none were as researched as this one. Weidner and Bridges bring alchemy and the great mysteries to the average reader. There are no hidden meanings here folks, just plain see it as it is reading.

Hats off to these authors! Even they have left the questions at the end unanswered, leaving the reader to come to their own conclusions. They have given us all the clues and what they and others have interpreted from them and left the reader to believe or not.

I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the "end times," the mysteries surrounding Fulcanelli, and alchemy!

First, I paid full price for this hack piece that would make Llewellyn publications look like scholarly tomes. My primary reason for purchasing it was the endorsement blurb by Joselyn Godwin, a well respected esoteric scholar. And all I can ask is why? This convoluted piece of crazed analysis and manipulated gematria that is headache inducing, is a sad work indeed. Millenial nonsense is millenial nonsense no matter what guise it is under, be it a Meso-American calendar, the cryptograms of Nostradamus or Millerite blathering. This work is part of the cottage industry sprung up from the Rennes-le-Chateau, pseudo-Cathar, Fulcanelli "stuff". Any Occultist worth their alchemical salt will do well to avoid this numerological & laughable mishmash.
