PDR.......2007-10-10
The PDR for years has been an easy way to review drugs. This addition is no different...an excellent reference for those interesting is reviewing old drugs or learning about a new drug.
BEWARE - contains 2006 PDR on CD, NOT 2007 PDR CD.......2007-09-11

2007 Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) Review.......2007-06-08
I purchased the 2007 Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) as a Mother's Day 2007 gift for my Mom. My Mom is a nurse, and she has been a nurse for almost 55 years now. She is 71. Mom had not had an updated PDR in close to 10 years, so I got her a new one.
Medical Treasure!.......2007-05-09
This book is absolutely essential if you want to keep up with the newest in medicines, diseases, cures, and much more! It is the same book you see on your physicians desk and the same one I have saw my physician flip through when he needs to look something up!
Don't miss your opportunity to own a copy because you will not be sorry!
P.S. Ideal for nurses, CNA'S, physicians assistants, and others in the medical field that wants to be updated regularly.
Know What You Buy.......2007-02-13
The PDR is commonly thought to be a complete drug reference. While the strength of the PDR is that it includes complete FDA approved prescribing information for the drugs inside, the weakness is that the drugs it includes is not comprehensive. The publisher depends on drug manufacturers to provide the information that is included in each edition. For this reason, new drugs almost always are included; however, older drugs that are beyond their patent life may not be included.
Further, the PDR only includes FDA approved information. As any Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner or Pharmacist knows, off label drug use is common. If a medical professional is looking for a printed drug reference that is truly comprehensive, look for Drug Facts and Comparisons or AHFS Drug Information. If one is looking for a handbook, consider Lexi-Comp Drug Information, AHFS Essentials, or Drug Facts and Comparisons Pocket Edition.

One of Crowley's Best..........2007-05-30
This is Crowley at everything Crowley does best. He mixes magick, mysticism, poetry, sarcasm, irony, and satire into a strange little book that is more like a puzzle than a traditional book of poems.
Perhaps difficult the first time through if one has no background in Thelema or Qabalah, but it is not the worst introducion one could have to Crowley. The copious footnotes help somewhat, but the truth of the matter to appreciate all its many, many layers one would have to be at least somewhat knowledgeable of Qabalah, high magick, and some background on Crowley's life (the entire book is, in addition to everyting else I've mentioned, also a "love-poem," believe it or not.)
Crowley fans and those into a very unique experience will do well to apply.
Excellent Service, strange man.......2007-01-09
Though, the service from this particular seller was excellent and I only ordered the book because I was curious about Aleister Crowley I actually haven't read this book. I read the "Book of Law" and that was enough for me to get an idea of what Aleister Crowley was about. He was a chess master, mountain climber, poet, painter, astrologer, drug experimenter, and social critic, but something must have went wrong early in his life for him to follow the path he did. Maybe it was being raised as a Darbyite which are members of the most extreme wing of the Protestant sect known as the Exclusive Brethren. John George Haigh who is known as the acid bath killer was also a Darbyite. I appologize if there are any Darbyites out there, but most likely being a Darbyite prevents you from reading this.
The most mind bending and revelatory work on the Thelemic Qabalah.......2006-12-01
Aleister Crowley's genius waxes to a maximum in these simple essays that express the deepest truths of Qabalah as understood from the philosophy and cosmogony of Thelema. This book is a must read for any Thelemite and stands as a shining example of how Qabalah may best be used to understand all of life and consciousness.
Pleasantly surprised.......2006-11-26
When I bought this little book (very aptly referred to by the editors as crowley's little masterwork) it was really on a whim. When I got it I looked over it and read a few of its modest chapters - modest, in reference to their size only - and put it away on the shelf for some months. I recently came full circle and picked it up again, through the impetus of my researches and I must say I'm glad I put it down the first time, because now I was really able to fully appreciate it's profundity, able to grasp subtleties I would have surely missed before. In this way the book has (like any other of subtance can) served as a measuring stick of my own progress. Crowley tells the truth when he says that this small book is the most complete exposition of his magical philosophy on every plane. Bottom line: buy it, it will greatly repay years of study.
More bull from the Absolute Master of BS!.......2006-07-24
Aleister Crowley and company, including his favourite pupil, Frater Achad (Charles Stansfield Jones) were nothing more than mere charlatans who made a name for themselves in occult circles. This is just another in their endless array of manipulative books that were meant to attract and control the gullible--preferably the rich gullible--who had nothing else to do with their lives but to seek someone to have power over them. Conversely, Crowley and Achad had nothing to do with 'their' lives but to seek to have power over others: a perfect fit!

Book Description
The student-friendly style of the book makes the content accessible without sacrificing either breadth or depth of coverage. The text's informal writing style, emphasis on problem solving, and state-of-the-art media package make this book an ideal fit at schools with large class sizes and a wide range of student abilities and backgrounds. The authors' goal was to create a complete package (text + media + supplements) which would challenge the better-prepared students and provide support to the lesser prepared students, giving ALL students a chance to succeed. 4e welcomes a new co-author Fred Senese, Frostburg State University, the creator of the award-winning General Chemistry Online and Ask Antoine (the most hit general chem web resource in the world with over 15 million hits/year). In addition to creating the new Brady/Senese website, he has also worked with Jim Brady to do significant revisions in the text.

excellent text.......2005-01-17
This textbook is an excellent way to learn chemistry. It provides very nice graphics to explain the text. This text makes learning chemistry very enjoyable and interesting. Senese and Brady did a wonderful job with this book. I highly recommend it.
this text does stand out from the pack..........2004-03-13
...in a number of ways. The chapter on stoichiometry is the first one I flip to when I'm evaluating a new text. This book does a better job of providing a conceptual foundation for the mole concept than any other book I've seen. It shows the rationale behind the concept by working a few simple problems with and without moles. The problem setups emphasize strategic thinking by asking students to identify the 'critical link' that connects given information with the problem's goal. The "Is the answer reasonable" checks given with each problem are more detailed and more helpful than in other texts; they help students develop a sense for what is and isn't reasonable in the answer, using alternative back-of-the-envelope solutions that often provide additional insight into the nature of the problem.
The chapter on atomic structure is the only one I've seen that uses the central idea of quantum mechanics (wave-particle duality) as its central theme. It elegantly uses the de Broglie relation to tie wave and particle behaviors together, in the process naturally explaining where quantum numbers come from and why changes in electron confinement in a reaction can lead to color changes.
The thermodynamics chapter is also quite innovative, discarding the idea of entropy as a measure of disorder and instead stressing its connection with the number of ways a state can be realized. A simple model of heat flow from a hot object to a cold object makes the connection between probability and process spontaneity clear.
The approach for explaining and predicting molecular shapes is much better than that used in other texts, where students end up memorizing a large table of molecular shapes. This text starts by showing how electron domains arrange themselves the central atom, and then visualizes how the molecular geometry changes as bonding domains are replaced with nonbonding domains, one at a time. Students see the underlying idea without getting lost in a mass of detail and special cases.
I also like the "Thinking it through" problems at the end of each chapter, that emphasize critical and strategic thinking rather than simply getting a numerical answer. Ebbing and Chang don't have this feature. The "Test of facts and concepts" are cumulative tests that students can use to synthesize material from several chapters; I haven't seen another text with this feature, either.
a chemistry book for all science purposes.......2004-03-12
THIS BOOK IS A GREAT GUIDE FOR ANY STUDENT WHO WANTS TO LEARN CHEMISTRY AND ALSO A GREAT GUIDE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO PREPARE3 THEM SELVES FOR WHAT'S AHEAD AT UNIVERSITY.
Best in itself.......2003-09-11
I have read older editon of this textbook. Older 3rd edition (1988). But it still stands tall among couple of other chemistry books on my shelf. No other book can match the style and elegance of Brady's book IMHO.
There are a lot of books out there maybe more detailed. But Brady's is the one that explain why certain concept is important, how they were discovered and by whom they were developed. Instead of starting explaining each key concenpts in Chemistry, Brady's always start with how previous researchers reached the theory at that time period. And how we can relate them in terms of our current understanding of this wonderful of chemistry.
If Brady didn't lose any his touch, I am 100 % sure and can gaurantee this newer edition will follow its earlier edition's tradition. Even if your course doesn't require this book as a text, go grap one. If you can't afford newer one, go buy old edition. They are still a classic and in fact I am still using 1988 edition.
Very conceptual, not very mathematical.......2001-11-29
When I used this textbook, I was looking for a mathemtical/engineering approach to chemistry. This textbook, however, explains concepts with examples but little or no scientific proofs. I found myself filling in proofs from other courses like thermodynamics and science of materials. Overall, a very thorough book, but heavy on the memorization, and light on math and graphs.

Available for the first time in 20 years, here is the Rudolf Carnap's famous “principle of tolerance” by which everyone is free to mix and match the rules of language and logic. In The Logical Syntax of Language, Carnap explains how his entire theory of language structure came to him like a vision when he was ill. He postulates that concepts of the theory of logic are purely syntactical and therefore can be formulated in logical syntax.

Customer Reviews:
Comprehensive but not in depth.......2007-03-09
This is a nice book for people who have the basic idea of ASP.NET. This Book covers almost all topics for .Net2.0 . It is a very good reference book for newbie.
Unfortunately, this book isn't in-depth for lots of topics, basically it just introduces most common cases, and you probably can't find what you want for some topics. (Eg implement Sorting and Pagation for ObjectDataSource, Crystal Report, memory management, ADO.NET in depth, .Net Virtual Machine etc). The source code is another down side for this book. Most of the code doesn't run, also the connection string wasn't right at the first place, I have to spend hours and hours to get it right.
In conclusion, it worth to buy, if you just want learn asp.net in a fast way. It will give you the solution for most tasks. Pretty good reference book.
Great ASP.NET 2.0 Reference.......2007-01-22
This is a great ASP.NET 2.0 reference book. It is absolutely packed with information covering all areas of the product. The book is also somewhat unique in that all code snippets are provided in both VB and C#, making it useful to all developers.
The authors are fantastic technical experts and speakers on .NET and ASP.NET. I think you can learn a lot from this book.
Encyclopedia of ASP.NET.......2007-01-21
Wrox is a great publisher of quick and massive volumes with multiple authors. I'm a teacher and look for good values that combine clear technical information and a broad range for a low cost. This is a good choice if you have experience with ASP.NET, know your web architecture (query strings, cookies, sessions, etc.), and don't want an extended tutorial. The reasoning for why you use these things wasn't clear but the details on how to use them exceeded most of the current fare which is why I chose to teach from the text recently. The quantity of code that was provided in VB and C# was excellent but the topics were out of order for classroom use. For the ASP.NET beginner, I feel it needs to be supplemented with a more tutorial based text and then this makes an excellent companion volume.
A Professional Level Book in Every Way.......2006-10-25
This is a monumental book. Almost sixteen hundred pages of hi-tech stuff. It is not for the faint of heart. It is intended for people who have at least a general understanding of how the web works with particular attention as to how a database driven web site is set up and works. Knowledge and experience with earlier versions of ASP (Active Server Pages) would be very helpful, but so would experience using other technologies such as Cold Fusion, PHP, or Java. Such knowledge is to provide you with the concepts of doing a dynamic web page consisting of a framework or template with the actual data being displayed coming from a database.
The book builds on this basic understanding to start with a very simple page and go on to much more complex tasks such as the building XML web services. Along the way every aspect of ASP.NET 2.0 is discussed.
ASP.NET 2.0 is the second major release of ASP.NET, Microsoft's main concept for programming dynamic web pages. The focus of the new release is on productivity. A major goal of the development team was to reduce the number of lines of code needed to program a page by two thirds. On the whole they suceeded.
In addition, the book contains two CD-ROMs. One is a 180 day trial version of Visual Studio 2005. The other has about a thousand pages from about 15 other WROX books that you may find helpful in looking up background information. The book is in reference format rather than tutorial. It will be very helpful for quite a long time.

Customer Reviews:
great word book.......2007-09-12
I loved this book as a kid because of all the detail on every page. A kid could spend so much time looking at all the words/objects on the page and then imagining what the people are doing.
I loved it when I was a kid so I wanted to share the fun of this book with a modern day kid.
My 18 mo old's favorite book.......2007-09-06
My son loves this book. He leafs through the pages, studying the pictures, and he loves to point at items and say the name. He loves this book so much that we also purchased Scarry's "Things That Go" which he loves even more!
Other Books.......2007-09-03
A book for kids that are learning to read. It is basically narrated by a bunch of cute fuzzy bears doing a tour of a town and all the common objects and situations that you might encounter in such a setting, enabling words to go with pictures so that children can go through them and learn to identify the objects as an aid to reading. A well done book.
Big book!.......2007-07-24
This is a LARGE book, like 12 x 14 inches. So the pages are pretty big, a little unwieldy for small kids, and mine are 18 and 32 months, they have already torn a couple pages just because it's hard for them to flip the big pages. They loves the Richard Scary animals though and like me to read it to them. It is a busy book, lots to see! Took me about 30 mins to read it to them the first time. Great book - I had this one when I was little, but in smaller binding!
A timeless masterpiece!.......2007-06-02
I am twenty-five years old, and my first copy of this book was very old and tattered when I read it in the early 80s. I still have and treasure it, but I am looking forward to buying a new sturdy copy to give my son (now six months old) before long. This was hands down my favorite picture book as a child, and even now, every time I pick it up, I wind up mesmerized by the pages and studying every single picture before I put it back down. I'm so pleased now that my son is here, so I have an excuse to read it again without looking silly!
