Book Description
In her first books, Behaving as if the God in ALl Life Mattered, Machaelle Small Wright wrote:
"If we allowed all the knowledge from our soul level to fully flow and be totally accessible to our concious self . . . before we disciplined ourselves on how to respond to such as flow on the physcial level, we would shatter. Blindly expressing limitless through limitation would be more pressure than our body could bear."
In Behaving, Machaelle scratched the surface on a whole new reality. Now, in Dancing, she opens the door and invites us in.
Out to discredit the "ozzie and Harriet" School of Spirituality, Machaelle gives us extensive groundwork, supported by an actual account of her own expansion experience. She tells of her introduction to the White Brotherhood--that evolved group of souls who assist humans in their evolutionary development--in a story told through journal entries for those early years of her nature work. Reading Dancing, you feel like a bird on Machaelle's shoulder . . . watching the expansion unfold.

It will change your life.......2007-02-09
This book changed my life when I read it a few years ago. I am now re-reading it and getting more layers of meaning and comprehension. As all of Machaelle Small Wright books, it brings a much wider perspective of the universe we live in and what is possible in life. It's absolutely inspiring. On top of all of this, Machaelle writes in an easy style, using a direct and honest tone. The book flows fast, though you might want to re-read some parts just to grasp the incredible amount of information given. It's hard to put down.
Extremely good book 100% worth its price........2005-09-12
It is a book about life, death, other levels of existance, reality, nature intelligencies... I have practiced her other books for having a better quality of life, and they all work great. I have read Dancing 3 times in these past 4 years. I recomend the expansive experience you'll get on reading Dancing...
Nature 101 on "How to Make Your Life Better".......2005-02-19
This is the first book I read by the author. It's a real stretch for many but a pure delight to read. Her MAP White Brotherhood book and Flower Essences book are treasures in healing body, mind and spirit. Follow her into the Perelandra garden and discover that our lives are gardens. Whether it be a house, car, business, project and on ad infinitum, it qualifies as a garden as far as nature is concerned. And the ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS thing about it is that we can work with nature to make any area better! Folks! There's a whole world out there waiting for you to tap into it and all you have to be able to do is want to. The deck is stacked in your favor! The Universe wants you to succeed! IT WILL HELP YOUR DO IT RIGHT! This is truly an investment in yourself! And it's so easy.
Can you tell I'm a fan? I've used the MAP healing with the flower essences and the gardening techniques in my garden and in my home. I have started the Microbial work. Wherever you start, the results will be better balance for you.
It opened me right up!.......2004-08-27
I first read Machaelle Small Wright's book while on retreat in a secluded pine forest in Colorado. It was as though the universe (or whoever) conspired to get me into that still small space to absorb the information coming my way.
Machaelle (if I may be informal) uses a writing style that is unpretentious and blatantly autobiographical. What I grew to like about the book is that it does not try to use pseudo science or overblown new age sentiment to make its case. Machaelle makes her case by simply writing about her experience.
She describes her experience of being called into relationship by Nature (capital N) and the energies that govern and hold form and matter in her garden in Perelandra. She then goes on to describe Nature's invitation to her to bilocate--be fully engaged in another dimension while being fully engaged in this one.
I have to say that this book really opened me up to the possibilities of parallel realities and the risks one takes in making this journey. Not only are there emotional, psychological and psychic risks to take, but there are physical ones as well. The physical body must adjust to its transformation as it is infused with a different quality of energy than we're used to. She addresses this as well.
The last half of the book details her experience of going back and forth between dimensions using a journal/diary format, a format I've never really enjoyed. This is why I've given the book four stars rather than five.
All in all, I would urge anyone who wants an honest companion for the journey to explore this book. I'm enjoying some of her other works right now--I'm glad I made the initial connection with this book.
Genius or Lunatic?.......2002-07-06
This is an amazing book - the best way I've been able to describe it to my friends who spend less time thinking about this stuff than I do is to say, "she's either really onto something, or needs to be seriously medicated" ;-)
Of interest to anyone who has ever considered that there might be intelligence in nature or a larger organizing principle to the universe beyond tax codes, this book is a personal spirtual journey that involves both the nature spirits and Dwight D. Eisenhower in the afterlife (Yeah, that one).
Unlikely, realistic, grounded and visionary this is a book for avid gardeners who want to know more about what goes on behind the scenes, those like myself prefer to do their gardening in other domains than dirt and anyone who loves a story that's both funny and challenging at the deepest levels.

Following the spiritual philosophy of the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico, who have been her teachers for over thirty years, Nancy Wood shares her awareness and appreciation of the complex, magical world around us. Reflections from a Medicine Lake.......1999-11-16
I have never quite understood why Nancy Wood's poetry collections are classified as "young adult". Her deep wisdom and clarity are more likely to be more fully appreciated by adults. This is a wonderful gift book for transitions times: graduations, marriage, death of a loved one, etc. Her poems are liking looking deep into a Medicine Lake where one sees the very fabric of life and all the its intricate connections. Frank Howell's paintings will fill you with awe and haunt your dreams.
"A precious collection of thoughts for everyone.".......1999-06-22
I first read Nancy Wood's Dancing Moons after visiting Santa Fe and seeing Frank Howell's gallery. The words and thoughts that Wood has shared with the reader are thoughtful and energising. I find myself going back to her writings for guidance often, for myself and to share with friends and loved ones. I am appreciative of the emotions she has shared with us. Her talents as an expressive writer are world class.
Book Description
Princess Vray of Rhenlan, exiled for defying her power-mad brother Damon, returns to court to challenge his right to the throne. Unfortunately, Damon's ambition is not the only danger facing the Children of the Rock. The Dreamers, who bend the power of the gods to keep otherworldly monsters at bay, have diminished in number until only a handful remain. With most of the ruling Shapers intent on politics and border feuds, and the peasant Keepers wanting only to tend their fields and raise their families in peace, the Dreamers and the importance of their magical gifts are being forgotten.
As the situation in the three kingdoms deteriorates, the carter Jordy and Dael, captain of the royal guard, see no answer but revolution. But Damon is a devious adversary, and it begins to look as if the best efforts of Vray and her allies will be too little, too late.
Customer Reviews:
Two super writers create a great work of fantasy.......2004-01-19
The three kingdoms of Sitrene, Dherrcia and Rhenland are all changing, descending into chaos and anarchy due to the machinations of the heir apparent Prince Damon of Rhenlan. Once his sire dies, Damon plans to rule more than just his kingdom. He has set in motion plans to disrupt and ultimately seize control of Sitrene and Dherrica. Assassination and causing unrest are just two of the tools in this evil individual's bag of nasty tricks.
The prime known opposition to Damon's thrust comes from his sister Princess Vray, who was imprisoned, but escaped her cage and from a traitor within his guards, Captain Dael, who loves the hidden princess. Other members of the three kingdoms' realms also work against Damon, but the key player is the Keeper Jordy who loves his people, the princess he protects, and the country he wants made whole. Damon might have the upper hand though his opponents have the hearts of the populace making his immoral road difficult.
Book two of "The Children of the Rock Trilogy" is epic fantasy at its' finest. Ineffective and power hungry kings almost destroy the world and the next generation struggles to repair the damage their elders have done as anarchy seems imminent. Still the key to the tale is the cast especially the evil Damon (perhaps too malevolent with no redeeming qualities), the intrepid Vray, the loyal to his beloved Dael, and the enigmatic Yoda like Jordy. The secondary cast (royals and wizards, etc.) adds depth so that the Krause-Sizemore world is a fine place for readers to visit.

A powerful and profound story.......2002-11-15
Dancing On The Moon is a wondrously illustrated color picture book showcasing the artistry of Lauren Grimm in service to a sensitive and gentle text especially written by Janice Roper for children on the subject of coping with great loss. A young girl suddenly loses her infant brother, and her parents try to help her understand that he will always be with her, in her heart. Dancing On The Moon is a powerful and profound story, and highly recommended reading - especially for boys and girls having to deal with the loss of a friend or family member.
Beautiful and important book; a "must-have" for every parent.......2001-03-18
This is an incredibly well-written and beautifully illustrated book. It tells the story of the journey of a young girl, whose infant brother has died. She sets off to find him, and in the end, realizes that he was always with her, in her heart. The author, Janice Roper, lost her 3 month old son to SIDS, and years later, wrote the story that she was unable to find for her daughter (Selena), to guide her through her grief. She tells the story through beautiful poetry and powerful illustrations.
I received my copy of the book this week. My daughter (almost 9) had me read it again and again. If was about the fifth time we read it, that we could read it without crying. Reading this book with my daughter was like watching someone transform before your eyes. She cried uncontrollably (she has a 6-year-old brother and obviously could relate to the main character, Carly), she talked about her feelings, and then she started focusing on the end of the book. She said the book made her feel really, really good; that when someone dies they are always with you.
Fortunately, my children have not had to suffer the loss of someone close to them. But with my grandmother and my husband's parents aging, it is inevitable. I am comforted to know my daughter experienced this book. I think it will help us through those rough days. Even as an adult, I found it very comforting.
I thank the author for sharing this story, that was born out of her own personal tradegy. By writing this book, she will help so many people. It fills a void in children's literature. It is a beautiful and important book that every parent should own.

An Invaluable Resource.......2007-04-11
This book gave me lots of ideas for creating personal rituals as well as rituals for family and friends. Lysne gives many examples of rituals for passages that our culture doesn't have a ritual for, guidance on how to create rituals, examples of ritual elements, and so on. I've referred to it many times over the years and loaned it out to people going through experiences that they wished to create a ritual for. I've never seen another book cover ritual for miscarriage and abortion or help couples ending their relationship celebrate the positive aspects even as they sever the ties that bound them. Ritual plays a vital role in our lives and to be given the tools to shape rituals that meet our needs is an incredible gift. I will be forever grateful to Ms. Lysne for writing this guide.
Customer Reviews:
I brought this book everywhere with me this summer!.......2005-09-05
I highly recommend Last Moon Dancing, a memoir of a Peace Corps Volunteer's experience in Africa, by Monique Maria Schmidt. Schmidt's plan was to teach, sacrifice and contribute to an African village. She soon realizes, however, that she has brought more to Africa than planned. Woven into her journey are the memories of her own childhood on a farm in a Mennonite community in South Dakota. Schmidt humorously tries to make sense of it all and soon realizes she is surrounded by love. Schmidt's writing style is engaging and ranges from poetic & profound to blunt & to the point.
Enlightening!!.......2005-08-23
I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Last Moon Dancing." The author's candid descriptions about her experiences in an African village while serving in the Peace Corps keep this book interesting and fresh. I enjoyed the "Dear Angela" letters the most. My favorite letter was "Dear Angela, If you want to know what kind of day I've had, smell me." Schmidt's ability to find humor in the day-to-day stress of her African experience makes one marvel at the strength and tenacity of the human spirit. A definite Must-Read!!
OVERWHELMING EMOTION.......2005-07-06
Once I started reading Last Moon Dancing I could not put it down. I felt all emotions from desperate to amused but the most dominate thing I felt was pride. I am proud that young people have the courage and ambition to commite themselves to the aid and education of those with less. It is an awe inspiring story and one that is so fantastic it couldn't be anything but admired
Insightful!.......2005-06-15
I just finished reading this book and was touched by Monique Schmidt's brutal honesty and self-evaluation. Schmidt bares her innermost thoughts to the reader. I found myself laughing out loud and, at times, crying. A very touching book about life, love and her Peace Corps experiences!
Unique and honest reading.......2005-06-03
I loved Monique Schmidt's memoir. Her honest,straight-forward account of her years in the Peace Corps in Africa is brutal, beautiful and witty. Woven through her African experience are connections to her childhood and early adulthood, but not always in the usual prose format. There may be a poem or an anecdote. Some of the revelations will anger the reader; some will shock, but throughout, you know Schmidt's telling it exactly as she sees and experiences life.

"Letting go begins a new journey.".......2006-07-21
In a sequel to The Secrets of Pistolet, Mademoiselle J leaves the French farmhouse of her friend, Nathalie, preparing to return home. Stopping by a tea shop to meet Nathalie before her departure, Mademoiselle J has her fortune told and receives a ticket (via Nathalie's generosity) to the Villa Della Luna, where "at every crossroads there will be a sign." The Villa is an unexpected delight, a place where Mademoiselle J is meant to "learn to dance with the moon" and discover her true self. Each experience at the Villa brings a lesson for the willing visitor, the elegant rooms, the wise people, the claming natural surroundings, all revealing the joy of personal growth and an awareness of one's perspective of the world at large.
Signora Graziella La Vecchia is the Villa's hostess; there is also a child, the lovely, if quiet Chiara. Each carries a message of timelessness and serenity, where beauty and elegance are part of every day, everyone and everything in harmony with nature. Even the food is meant to heal and inspire: "The Minestrone of Memories and Reflection", Pasta Vivante, "for those who are afraid of the passions of life", and "A Foccacia of Forgiveness and Release". Filled with page after page of beautiful photographs, charming illustrations, thoughtful recipes, gatefolds and secrets, this artful endeavor is the perfect gift for a special friend, an invitation "to dance with the moon." Luan Gaines/2006.

Heartfelt Gift.......2007-08-25
This book is a generous telling of Tela Starhawk Lake's life and training. She shares so much of her personal experience that it is at times painful to read. Very informative about the obstacles to continuing traditional Native practices in a modern world, and her profound determination to continue because of or in spite of those obstacles.
Freaky owls, activism, and triumph over negativity.......2001-07-14
Since i am a Northwest transplant and OBSESSED with native american spirituality i was siked to read this book by a Yurok medicine woman. She gives some sorely needed insight into women's moontime ceremonies, herbs (ANGELICA!), and the meaning of some friendly and foelike animal spirits all over the country. Since i already fell in love with Sioux medicine people, my heart sang when she told of meeting Lame Deer and others, participating in a Sundance, and recieving full healing the Lakota way. I ate this book up.
Hawk woman dancing with the moon was great !.......2000-07-02
I liked Hawk woman dancing with the moon a lot , because it tells you a lot about indian culture and also gives practical instructions if you're interested in moon-ceremonies , for example . Tela Star Hawk Lake talks about her own life (how she became a shaman , different ceremonies , her family ,...) , the life as an indian today and hundreds of years ago , her tribe and tells legends . All in all , I can really recommend this book to anyone that is interested in indian culture ! It's novel and informative book at the same time .

Transcendentally Excellent.......2001-06-07
I saw that this book had not yet been reviewed. It was so good that I had to try to encourage others to pick it up. I read it at work & many of my co-workers could not understand how a book on AIDS could be good. It must be too depressing. Well, yes. It is sad. But so is Long Days Journey into Night, Anne Frank's Diary & many other works of an enduring nature.
This collection clearly presents the human condition & human nature. Ironicly, the collection is spiritually uplifting.
The works, of course, are predominantly of Gay men & their loved ones. But there are others; and all characters are presented first & foremost as Humans, not Gay nor Straight; not Black nor White; not Jewish nor Goy.
Bottom line: It is moving and affecting. It is cathartic. And anyone who wants to know what it is to lose a loved one to anything ought to read it.

Meteorology in miniature.......2003-11-12
This book tells the story of a bear who wants to make friends with the moon. Over the course of the day, the bear observes and plays with the moon, clouds, fog, and rain. The bear is very well behaved- -he helps out around the house and eats his dinner when he is supposed to. He faces disappointment when he doesnýt always get what he wants, but he learns to appreciate what he gets. This is a delightful little story (about 750 words), that contains nothing likely to incite anxiety amongst youngsters.
Moondance.........2003-03-11
I love this book because the pictures are great and I can relate. This story is about a bear that wants to dance with the moon but was scared to ask. So Bear asks the clouds, "Clouds, will you dance with me?" The clouds didn't answer so Bear went inside for bedtime. The next morning fog was outside and Bear was happy until the fog left. Bear cried and his friend Little Bird told him they went to work. Bear had work too, so they went inside. Next time Bear looked outside there was rain. Clouds sent rain to dance with Bear. After the rain left Bear wasn't sad. Did Bear ask moon to dance? Read the book to find out.
A great childrens book.......2000-06-06
This has always been one of my favorite chidrens books. I lovereading about bear and bird trying to dance with weather. The authoris very creative describing things such as when the fog comes bear thinks he dancing with the clouds. My little brother has also loved this, and he hardly likes any books. I also love it when the moon reflects of the puddle left by the rain, and he thinks he's dancing with the moon. This will always be one of my favorite chidrens books of all time.
