ONCE UPON A DREAM: A DELIGHTFUL DISNEY TREAT FOR FANS OF ALL AGES.......2007-08-21
Once upon a time, before Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle, three Princesses ruled Supreme in the Disney Kingdom:
Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora/Briar Rose (a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty). This original, classic Princess Trio is celebrated in a delightful and entertaining Books and CD Box set.
The packaging may be pink (meaning the item is pidgeonholed as a product for "young girls") and the story presentation is brief (again pidgeonholing: as an item for "young readers") but this is actually a treat for fans of "CLASSIC DISNEY"-- fans of all ages. I don't have little girls/children. I purchased this simply because I love "CLASSIC DISNEY"-- and the price is extremely affordable.
I found the box the books and CD came in to be the perfect way to store and care for the books. The box easily fits on to a shelf of my entertainment center; so it should also fit easily on to any bookshelf. The books are 24 page paperbacks, but quite sturdy and nicely illustrated; although the cover illustration for the "SNOW WHITE" book makes Snow White and her Prince look like dorks!!
The three stories are all on one CD. The CD almost fell out of the box when I opened it. I put the CD in a jewel case, and downloaded it into my computer as well to make for easier use.
The stories are brief, (not quite the same as the larger and longer cherished Book and LP Record Series from my own childhood; but I'm still completely enchanted) so certain elements of the Disney plots (the mice making a dress for Cinderella, The Seven Dwarfs Dance Party with Snow White, and the good fairies making a birthday cake for Aurora and cleaning the cottage with magic wands) are eliminated. Still, I was amazed at how well the spirit and the essence of these Disney films is captured on a brief 36 minute CD. True fans will notice happily familiar musical underscoring over the narration of "CINDERELLA" and "SLEEPING BEAUTY." No songs from "SNOW WHITE" are included, but this story features a particularly vigorous alternate musical
underscoring, and is the best of the CD adaptations. However, "SLEEPING BEAUTY" is my favorite Disney fairy tale.
The narration is quite lively and the voice actors for the characters are superb; particularly for "SNOW WHITE." The voice actors are not the same as those in the actual films, but sound so similar that they will certainly evoke plesant memories.
Ilene Woods is heard singing "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" from the film Soundtrack of "CINDERELLA", and beautiful soprano Mary Costa sings "Once Upon A Dream" and "I Wonder" from the "SLEEPING BEAUTY" Soundtrack.
Good collection, lousy packaging.......2007-05-22
We purchased this read-along set for our three-year-old daughter, and she absolutely loves it. These are probably her favorite stories that we've purchased for her so far.
The collection itself is quite nice - Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty in three separate books and one CD. Currently, only Cinderella is available for individual purchase. The box it came in was a piece of cardboard junk that was oversized and took up more space than it should have. We tossed it and are keeping the books in the same pile as the rest of her read-alongs and the CD in a jewel case of its own.
While it is nice to cut down on the number of discs to keep track of, the 3-in-1 set up is a little hard, because unless I program my daughter's CD player to just play one story, it will play all three, one right after another. Usually, this isn't a big deal - it gives me about 36 minutes of uninterrupted peace - but if we even suggest that she only listen to one of the three, she has an absolute fit. To her, the three stories HAVE to be listened to consecutively.
So, we like the collection, the packaging was pathetic, and the single-disc can create a few problems, but overall it was a very good buy. I would like to see the individual stories offered separately, though, so we could have some choices in what we decide to purchase.
Absolutely awesome.......2007-03-10
They are just the right length stories for the princess fan. My daughter listened and followed along almost every day for a month. Hit the spot for her.

Good value.......2007-07-15
Superb for younger children, children starting to read without assistance or as a listen along without a book in the car or on a plane.
Great use of voices.......2007-05-12
My kids love this CD. By using character voices from the movies it adds drama and interest in listening. My kids can't wait to listen to this in the car, even when they don't have the books with them. It's well written.
Great Product!.......2006-08-01
Both the book and accompanying CD live up to the Disney name. The voices on the CD are easy to listen to and the pictures are colorful and go along with the story. I purchased the set for my 4 year old grandaughter, but I think it may be another year before she is really ready to use it.

Great Read Along.......2006-09-09
My 5 year old son loves this book. He can't wait for the movie to come out on dvd and this book is a great way to help him remember scenes from the movie. I really like how they used some audio clips from the movie in the story. I also like how the story lasts for several minutes and makes the sound so he can turn the pages.

Easy Take Along Idea.......2007-01-10
We purchased these for my 4 1/2 year old grandson along with a portable cd player. The thin paperback books and cd were very easy to pack into his own small carry on for his 5 hour flight. Made traveling a lot easier.
Big Hit!.......2007-01-04
My son who is 6 yrs old received this for Christmas. He is able to read quite well on his own but he really enjoys listening to the stories. Sometimes he will read along with the book and this helps with word recognition and other times he'll listen to the CD at bedtime. We plan on using them on a future car trip which will be something great to help pass the time.

Wonderful addition to our little girls collection!.......2007-03-28
These are the best read alongs that I have found. My daughter (turned 4 in Jan) reads these in her room ALL the time! She likes to "read along" at night even after we read other stories & then sometimes when she wakes up before everyone else - she will listen & read along. I am planning on taking them for a flight as well (vs the DVD). Dont hesitate to buy the "Toy Box Innovations" stories!

Just love them!.......2007-08-17
A real bargin, you get a greate product for a greate price, deffinaly worth the money!
My girl 5,5 years old just love these stories aboute the Lion king, she lissens to them in the car and on her cd-player in her room. We have put the Cd in a hard cd case and bought a plastic box for the books, the box they come in were not that sturdy, and the books could have been ruined if we did not put them somewere else, especially when she wants them in the car, and then out of the car in her room and so on...
We will definatly buy more books from this serie! highly recomend them, you will not get dissapointed.
the kids love it!.......2007-03-14
I am taking care of a three and a five year old boy. They both love to listen to the stories and the five year old enjoys "reading" along in the books and being able to turn the pages all by himself.
The kid's room turns amazingly quiet as soon as I put the CD in.
I'm very happy with this product!
Lion King Thrill.......2007-01-21

It was a switch from the usual fantasy..........1999-09-16
Seelie and Unseelie elves trying to eke out an existance in Banal world, battling invisible chimaeric toys in the streets of Frisco, clinging tenaciously the nobility of the Middle Ages. I found this book quite refreshing from the run-of-the-mill fantasy books one can find. Unlike many of the novels about the faerie people, this one actually takes place on present-day Earth, and the faeries have to juggle two lives (human and faerie) besides trying to keep from losing their memories to the cold, unbelieving Banal world. All in all, a refreshing take on the faerie folk, and all in all, a great read.

Fresh Gear For Technomancers.......2003-06-10
The Sons of Ether and the Virtual Adepts are two very interesting Traditions, but the material provided before this book barely touched on the gear they used to battle their former colleagues in the Technocracy. The first edition Technocracy books had a lot of neat gadgets included in them, which really gave players and storytellers a feel for what they do. One can learn a lot about a society by studying their tools. Though the Tradition books written for the Sons of Ether and the Virtual Adepts were entertaining to read, there was little mention of specific gear, thus there was a large hole in their cultural development. The Technomancer's Toybox remedied this problem. This is a no nonsense book about the devices (talismans) of the Virtual Adepts, Sons of Ether, Technocracy, and other technically inclined cliques (mostly Cult of Ecstasy). Split into their own sections and narrated from the viewpoint of a Virtual Adept, level 1 to 5 and unique devices for the groups were presented.
The whole hacker-mage angle of the Virtual Adepts was played up in their section. Most of their devices were centered on computer technology and compact gadgets. There was also an emphasis on being elite, which was expected. Overall, the Virtual Adepts have some nifty gear that would make any reality hacker proud.
The Sons of Ether section was very entertaining. The outlandish gear of the Etherites ranged from silly to deadly. They have many weird gadgets such as rollerblades that can go faster than most cars, death rays, soul-bonding suits, pulp hero lightning guns, and more. This is fantastic and enjoyable chapter.
The Technocracy chapter was unlike the Virtual Adepts or the Sons of Ether. The masters of Reality have gadgets that are often coincidental to the public. Most of the gear presented here were from the New World Order, Iteration X, and the Progenitors. There was a focus on equipment used by field agents on Earth rather than in alternate dimensions. The Void Engineers had a few gadgets detailed in the chapter but the Syndicate normally doesn't make high-tech gear so there was little mention of their devices. The equipment in this chapter was very interesting and further pushes the big conspiracy image of the Union. There were lots of spy equipment, weapons, vehicles, stuff Fox Mulder fears, and others. The gear featured here are very useful. There was an emphasis on usefulness over style.
The chapter that dealt with the other technomancers had gear used by other Traditions, Naphandi, and Marauders. There were some disturbing devices shown here. Even Dreamspeakers use devices and the one presented in this chapter deviated from their norms.
The Technomancer's Toybox is a very good book. Not only does it flesh out two Traditions and three Conventions of the Technocracy beyond their source books, it was also entertaining.
A great source of ideas (for stroytellers).......2000-11-24
This book is a great addition for the storyteller in general. Players may even use it, but you, the master of the world is the one to really explore it. In a few words, this book, and specially the rare artifacts in it, gave me great plot ideas, and not only for a technocratic based chronicle, but all kinds of ways. The weird item section is a great source for dealing with marauders, nephandi and some disconnected mages. Another good thing in the book is that, with it, you can control the "overpowered" kind of player, you know, the one that spends every xp he got on ways of busting .... Put a X-14 A Thunderhead on his face and see what happens... good to shut some mouths... In short, it's a great source book, note the best of them all, but a good one. But be wise to what you give to your players. And a recomendation: never ever let a player got the technocratic exo-skeleton. Believe me, you'll regret it.
This book ROCKS!!.......2000-10-02
This book has one of the most comprehensive list of Devices that White Wolf has ever made! Not only that, but It is written in the view piont of a Virtual Adept who rocks!
A Chicken In Every Pot, A Ray Gun In Every Bag.......2000-03-28
This book is perfect for the storyteller who wants to run a heavy technomancy chronicle. It contains great in-depth descriptions of sundry items of mass delerium and minor destruction. Hail the Void!
A great book, for those who love the Technomancers.......2000-03-26
This book gave me new faith in the enginuity of the Mage: The Ascension rpg. It helped me put my chronical back on track. It added the Villans that every one looks for in a chronical and did a good job at it. If you love the technomancers then this is the book for you. If you just starting Mage this is a must buy
