Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent commentary on John's Apocalypse.......2006-09-02

In this book, Maahs does an excellent job of exploring the intricate details of John's Revelation. Specifically, he links the imagery used in John's apocalyptic writing to the imagery in the apocalyptic writings of the `Old Testament,' e.g. Daniel. This enables readers to anchor John's symbolic, and often confusing, language within his own tradition, i.e. the tradition of a first century Jew. Furthermore, Maahs's provides provocative insights about how said linguistic symbols refer to specific social-historical issues, such as the Roman Emperors and/or Roman cultic practices.

He begins his commentary by analyzing the seven churches. In this analysis, he exposes why each church, in its `uniqueness,' is a targets of John's letter/s. After introducing the churches themselves, he allows his commentary to follow the text, verse by verse, exploring the strengths and weakness of these seven early churches, while equally addressing how these strengths and weakness are directly related to the churches' involvement in the broader Roman community.

Finally, Maahs uses his analysis of these first century churches to expose weaknesses within the modern day church. By doing so, he shows us how the prophetic nature of John's letter is most firmly anchored in its ability to address the church's failure to live out God's call throughout history, whether that be in first century Rome or modern day America.

5 out of 5 stars The best book on Revelation.......2002-04-09

I have read a number of commentaries on the Book of Revelation. This is by far the best of them all. It offers a clear elucidation of the text that is helpful for anyone trying to better under this important message from the Lord. I wish all of the premillenialists would consider its logical presentation and thereby gain greater insight in to a book they have so woefully misunderstood.

5 out of 5 stars For those who wish to understand and teach the Revelation........2000-02-23

More than just a simple once over but less than an exhausting word by word commentary on the Revelation, this volume seeks to help the modern student of the book understand its background, historical setting and genre. In addition, this teaching-commentary is meant to represent a model for presenting John's Apocalypse in a class situation, whether that be a church Bible program or a college course. Special attention has been paid to those aspects of Revelation's message which challenge the spiritual vision of the modern Christian community and call it to live out its vocation as the community of the Menorah (John's seven churches are viewed through the image of the seven-branched candelabra of ancient Israel). Useful to layman and scholar.

    Book Description

In 1592, dashing courtier Sir Robert Carey took up his northern post as Warden of the West March in order to escape the complications of creditors and court life. Trouble, however, dogs his heels wherever he goes. And where he goes in autumn, after the summer's misadventures in Carlisle, is back to London upon a summons from his father.

Carey is on difficult terms with his powerful sire, Henry, Lord Hunsdon. Hunsdon, son of Anne Boleyn's elder sister, Mary -- and probably of a young King Henry VIII -- swings a lot of weight as "cousin" to Queen Elizabeth. But Hunsdon needs his ingenious younger son, Carey to sort out the difficulties his elder son has got himself into as an innocent party in a plot to discredit the family.

Accompanied by the shrewd Sergeant George Dodd, who's like a fish out of water as he copes with the strange Londoners, Carey tackles Catholics, treachery, and such persons known to history and students of literature as George Greene and Christopher Marlowe who are working as spies and double agents. Most arresting is a portrait of a love-sick, snivelling hanger-on named Will Shakespeare....

When WWWA operatives Kei and Yuri arrive onbard the habitat Kalevela to stop a powerful weapon from being unleashed, plucky reporter Cory is called in to write a 'nice' review on the Lovely Angels. But with a criminal on the loose who has the unique ability to borrow other peoples bodies and the Dirty Pairs love of big weapons can they bring a stop to the criminal, prevent another disaster AND get a good review?

5 out of 5 stars MILLIONS DIE SCREAMING! 3WA Denies "Dirty Pair" Involved........2000-04-05

"A Plague of Angels" is the third "Dirty Pair" story Adam Warren worked on, and it shows. Unlike the previous two mini-series, the artwork here is extremely detailed and complex. Warren came into his own with this one(back in 1991!), and the reader can actually see his artwork evolving as the story progresses.

Although this one lacks the darker edge of other entries in the series, and doesn't progress as fluidly as "Fatal But Not Serious", the story is still quite interesting, and probably the one most laced with dark humor. Of course, the villain, Carvalho, helps this humorous status quite a bit by being obsessed with pornography(this obsession reaches some interesting heights towards the end...).

For a change, the focus of the narrative is not on Kei and Yuri, but on the journalist Cory Emerson, who has the unfortunate task of writing a "fluff piece" on the two. Of course, things don't go exactly as planned, and the story builds to an absolutely insane climactic battle which rages on for forty pages!

"Dramedy" and science fiction at their best, and a good starting point for readers new to Kei and Yuri. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Human future doomed through hilarity.......1999-12-17

Adam Warren's third series, of the American comic adaptation of the Dirty Pair anime, is the first showcase of Warren's mastery of manga-style comic characters, plots, and situations. Unlike Biohazard, and Dangerous Acquaintences, the art work is much improved in that Warren uses much better detailing through fine lines rather than the broadline illos for the first two incarnations of the Pair. Here, the drawing and inking have reached American standards while adhering to a manga style appearance. Indeed, Adam Warren is among the best manga artist in the world today, and the original Japanese creator of the Dirty Pair animes is extremely please with the American's effort to deliver quality to his readership. Albeit a small crowd, but a proud consortium whom see his art as a beacan of hope in that Americans can create manga art without being Japanese.

Here is the real dough: The Pair are assigned to help track a terrorist on a satellite planet which wants to put the terrorist behind bars. That terrorist is Carvahol, and he can switch bodies with an illegal personality chip, that plugs into an interface near the base of the neck of any one with such a modification. This helps him download his personality into a new body, and become quite difficult to catch. But in the eyes of the people inhabiting the satellite planet, the terrorist ranks second on their list of: Most Likely To Blow Us To Smithereens - Just a tad behind the infamous Dirty Pair, whom managed to cause mass genocide by accident on each case they take on. Trust me- its not their fault! But if you pick this up you'll see that they're just a little slow and suffer from a general streak of bad luck, and you will come to understand how innocent freelance reporter, Cory, first hates them like anyoneelse, but then realizes that the Pair just has a bad rap. Pick it up and enjoy.

P.S.: For the future - place a letter in a time capsule so that you can warn your decendants about living on planets with Kuan Yin military products. They tend to lend a hand in "accidental" mass genocide.

4 out of 5 stars A real cool book for those that like big guns and action!!.......1998-07-16

The actions begins from the start and never ends. The humor is somewhere between a little sadistic and wicked. I would really recommend this book to any one that has read Bubblegum crisis!! Kei rules!! Yuri rules!!

4 out of 5 stars THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TEPPER NOVELS.........2005-11-24

I REALLY LIKED THE MIXTURE OF GENRES IN THIS BOOK. THE WHOLE ARCHETYPICAL VILLAGE CONCEPT WAS A HOOT. WOULDN'T IT BE LOVELY TO SEND ALL YOUR UNWANTED CHARACTERS TO A VILLAGE AND FORGET THEM. THE REASON THAT ORPHAN'S CHARACTER IS NOT AS WELL ROUNDED AS OTHER HEROINES IS BECAUSE SHE SPENDS THE MAJORITY OF HER LIFE AS AN ARCHETYPE.
MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS BOOK IS THE ENDING...I LIKE FOR MY FAIRY TALES TO END WITH AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

2 out of 5 stars Streaks of brilliance in a otherwise dull sky.......2005-08-18

This is my first attempt at reading a Tepper novel. It was a tough read in that she seems intent on cramming so many Big Ideas into one book that it becomes overwrought. Overwrought is the operative word here. So many elements from so many genres collide: Fairytale, mythology, sci fi, fantasy all bump up against each other with mixed results. Characters and cultures stand for philosophical positions rather than real people. EX; Atermesia, a sort of american indian culture that preaches respect for the earth and animals etc. A nice idea but everything stands for something and we never care for the characters.

The main problem I had was in the constant shift in world building. Tepper builds an interesting post apocalyptic society and its many factions but then muddies the waters with unexplained fairytale monsters and talking animals. The overall tone of the book inexplicably shifts from time to time, leaving the reader in a sort of limbo and trying to fuse the disparate elements into a single vision. It never really comes together.

Its all well intentioned and at times the language is quite beautiful. But I struggled through it, eventually using the book as a means to fall asleep.

3 out of 5 stars Worth a Read, but not putting Effort into it.......2005-02-19

This book has many excellent qualities, including interesting characters, a well-developed universe, and a good handling of a grandiose storyline. Unfortunately, the author tends to get incredibly preachy, and has a truly vexing tendency to divide different parts of the world into "things I like" and "things I don't like". While this sort of writing may well be par for course for this author, the book would have been much better off without it.

3 out of 5 stars Mental Recognition of a great book does not quite cut it.......2004-12-19

This is an amazing book, but I wish I could have felt more for the characters. The story had all the elements of danger, intrigue and romance you could hope for, but there was something about the storytelling itself that seemed rather mechanical.

The logistical errors in the manuscript drove me crazy . . . doesn't this publishing house (Bantam) proofread anything? Still, it was worth hanging in for the climax. The book is rather long and if you don't read it consistently (ideally, every day) you might lose sight, like I did, of certain details the author brushed over -- seemingly minor points that become important at the end of the book.

I can't say I'm now a Sheri S. Tepper fan, but I'm glad I tried at least one of her books. The ending was gripping, I just found the path to get there rather tedious at times. The book didn't take me by the heart.

3 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, if not totally absorbing.......2004-10-22

In this novel, Tepper once again explores the realms of myth and fantasy as they relate to a future Earth. The story takes place in what once was the southwestern United States. Mankind has been "reduced" to an agrarian society, although a few crime- and drug-ridden cities still stand, and remnants of technology are preserved in isolated locations. Fantastic creatures -- trolls, griffins, ogres and the like -- roam the countryside. Heroes, Princesses, Oracles and other "archtypes" are preserved in tiny hamlets. Olly is the Orphan of one such Archtype village. But her destiny lies elsewhere. Oracle's prophecy sets her on the path to her fate, and within Olly's path lies the fate of the world.

Tepper may have tried to do too much within this novel's framework. Contained here are her usual themes of environmentalism and feminism, but they don't mesh as easily as in some of her other work. The storyline can be difficult to follow as it switches focus from one character to another, and Tepper has given us a lot of different locations and individuals to keep track of. However, the story is well-written overall with vivid characterizations and interesting plot twists. An enjoyable, if not totally absorbing, read.
