Great books!.......2007-08-23
These books are such a hit with my son who is now 3 and still loves them. In fact I have just recently bought more of them. We started with That's Not My Car.. and it seems have started an addiction. They are great fun and we take turns picking out which car (monster, puppy, train..etc) we like best. We also look for the mouse on each page. I think these are some of the best toddler books out there and would recommend them highly.
We love our monsters.......2007-07-31
We have 4 other titles in this series and this is one of the favorites. I bought monsters hoping my child wouldn't become afraid of monsters under his bed--a mother can hope. Some of the texture areas are small, but all cute and all different.
love this series books.......2007-06-14
wonderful books!!!!!!!!!!!! get them all!!! our daughter has loved them since she turned one, and still loves them after turning 2! very fun to read, colours are vibrant, textures are appropriate, such nice books!! first discovered this series on www.mybabycantalk.com 's dvd's "First signs" and "Sharing signs" (by the way the BEST dvd's for babies and toddlers to learn sign language (asl) and english words. they are a must alongwith the books listed here.
Son doesn't want to put these books down.......2007-05-17
Similar to the other books in this series, the pages are very vibrant with a variety of textures for our 10 month old son to enjoy (lick, scratch, pull, etc...) Although some textures do repeat themselves across the series, he can't seem to get enough. We take the books with us on trips and other friends' children (toddlers) love the books as well. We highly recommend owning at least one in the series (or like us, the whole set--spread the love and wear&tear!)
Good book for babies and toddlers.......2006-12-26
My baby has had this book since she was 6 months old, and has found new things to interest her as she grows. She is now a year and a half, and still loves feeling the textures but also seeks out the mouse on every page. I agree that it is very sturdily made. Works for boys or girls, too.

fun book.......2007-05-08
We own several Magic Windows books and this is my favorite. The textures are really unique and the colors are vibrant. My daughter loves pulling the tab to reveal the answer to the question, "what am I?" asked on each page. We have a fun time with it.
Absoulutly fabulous book!.......2007-03-24
My son has three of the magic window touch and feel books, and loves them all. They are better than other touch and feel books because: a. They offer more types of textures and b. they have a bit of mystery to them. He loves them so much that he carries them around with him.
good textures, bad design.......2007-03-19
The textures in the book are great. My daughter loves to feel them, but the pull out windows just make the book difficult for us to enjoy. We have other touch and feel books that are great, but I don't think we would recommend this one.
Loves it!!.......2006-02-23
My 15 month old can spend an hour a day going through this book. It is a beautiful book. We all love it!!
engaging and interactive, perfect for tactile toddlers.......2004-10-21
This & the other Magic Windows Touch & Feel books are my highly tactile 16-month-old son's VERY favorite books (well, it's a toss-up between these and the "That's Not My..." series). He loves to look at the bright colors and feel all the different textures, not to mention notice the changing pictures and "reveals" when I pull out the center panel of each page for him.
This series has a much wider variety of textures than most touch and feel books -- not just the usual smooth, soft, and rough, but also slippery, sticky, bumpy, etc. It's also blessedly free of the usual "scratch & sniff" page, which usually gives me a headache.
I'd give this 5 stars except that the inner tab panels are very difficult to pull out, even for me, and will probably still be too difficult for him when he's 3 or 4 and will be moving on from this kind of book. Also because of the moving parts and assembly of materials, it's not the most durable book -- my toddler only gets to play with it when I'm with him, as I'm afraid he'd destroy the book and/or choke on parts he pulled off if left with it unsupervised in his crib or playpen.

Good book for Usborne fans but not for infants.......2007-01-11
We love the "That's Not My -----" series board books from Usborne. Our daughter loved turning the pages and touching all the different textures since she was 6 months old. Eventually she got bored with them so we ordered the Touchy-Feely Mermaids book when she was about 11-12 months.
Its definitely very colorful and busy. So much that she seemed overwhelmed as compared to the simpler Usborne books and didn't like it much. She is a bit older so she has some interest in it now. In our experience it didn't seem to be a fun a book for older infant/early toddlers since there is too much to see/read and less to grab/feel. There are sparkly sections but they are smaller.
I'd recommend this for older children. The book doesn't have a recommended age but I think older girls (and boys) would enjoy the story of how mermaids live and the colorful underwater scenes.
outstanding quality with beautiful illustrations.......2005-12-05
I have a few touchy feely books for my 10 month old, and this is one of the best. It's made of really thick cardboard pages and is almost indestructible. The illustrations are wonderfully colorful and interesting. Each page has multiple touch and feel spots, though some of the textures are similar (how many different types of scales can you find for mermaid tails) but they are all different colors and my son still enjoys touching them. The story is a little more involved than most touch and feel books, so I think he will enjoy this book for a long time. This is really a beautiful book and worth the cost.
*** Another really good touchy feely book is "Dinosaurs", also by Fiona Wells.

One day in Teletubbyland, a telescope appears on one of the surrealistically green hills many of us have come to recognize. Dipsy, wearing a tangibly furry, black-and-white spotted top hat, looks through the telescope and sees rabbits sniffing flowers, Tinky Winky with a red vinyl bag, Po wearing a tutu-like skirt, and Laa-Laa playing with her orange rubbery ball. Then, as in all Teletubby encounters, it's time to say "bye-bye." If your children light up when they see Teletubbies on television, they may enjoy seeing them frolic in the pages of this oversized board book as well. And, since kids can't actually touch the television screen with any satisfying results, they may like the novelty of being able to touch objects such as the textured gauzy skirt, vinyl bag, and rubbery ball. If titles like this help children make a transition from television to books, so much the better. By any other measure, however, The Magic Telescope is less than magical. (Baby to preschool)
Book Description
Dipsy looks through the telescope to see soft furry rabbits, Po's tutu, Tinky Winky's vinyl bag, and other things babies can really touch!

Great touch and feel book.......2002-11-23
My 18-month-old daughter LOVES this book. Especially the page with the ball on it. Even though it is short, she makes me read it to her over and over again. Actually, I'm pretty glad it is short! LOL
Too short but...........2001-11-28
Although this book is very short, shorter than the other TT books, my 1yr old loves the touch and feel sections. The book is physically tough and he "reads" it by himself (...)
too short.......2001-05-11
This book is way too short. It's only really about 6 pages long. Also, the infamous "bag" is OK with me, other cultures and/or homosexuality don't bother me... but it sticks to the opposite page which makes page turning difficult at times. Overall, I'd say your money is better spent elsewhere unless you have a kid who is crazy about teletubbies (mine really isn't, but then again, my kid's only 8 months old).
We Love This Book!.......2001-01-14
One day, Dipsy finds a telescope. Who all does he see? All his friends in Teletubbyland, of course! This touch-and-feel book is virtually indestructable! My 18 month old has read and re-read it since Christmas and it still appears brand new. "The Majic Telescope" book is very well made and very well written for little ones. With an average of 10 words per open page, this book is able to hold a toddler's interest. The illustrations are wonderful as well, with beautiful bright colors to intrigue children (and maybe even help them learn "red", "green", etc). This book was worth every penny spent!
Tinky Winky's bag.......2000-05-19
...The Teletubbies originated in Britian, where it is"ok" for men to carry bags.....my son loves the Teletubbiesand has enjoyed this touch and feel book. I would encourage other parents to introduce the teletubbies to their babies/toddlers.

Very Cute.......2007-02-06
I bought this book for my 9mnth old daughter and she loves to feel the different textures. Even my 3yr old loves to touch it. With all the colors and textures my daughter sits long enough for me to read it to her, because she can touch stuff. Very fun and cute book for little ones.
My 17 month old loves this book.......2007-01-10
My daughter always brings me this book to read to her. There are lots of things going on on each page. The textures are great (although many of them are repeated throughout the book rather than a different one on each page) and the pages are shimmery and shiny. Perfect for a little girl!
Sparkly Touchy -Feely Fairies.......2006-11-06
Granddaughter (15 months) is enchanted with this book. It is her 'special' book for bedtime. She loves to have it read to her and feels each 'touchy feely' section each time the page is turned. Best money spent by this grandma!
Just Darling!.......2006-07-04
My mother bought this for my 5-mo daughter and we both exclaimed that it was the kind of book we would've loved as a little girl. Mum wanted to put it away until she was older to protect it, but we decided it could be viewed under strict supervision (I let her read a "chewable" book after this one!) DD seems to enjoy turning the sturdy thick pages and touching the bits of sparkly padded fabric and shiny paper parts and I enjoy reading it with her. The pages are full of color and activity as beautifully illustrated fairies get up to various antics - painting fruit and creating snowflakes, finally putting the stars in the night sky and making sure children are asleep (apart from a mischievous fairy who is tickling the child's nose with a feather). I have just purchased Usborne's /Mermaids/ for my 4-yr goddess-daughter, and I trust it is just as whimsical and fun. I think you might find your little girl peeking under leaves to see if there is a fairy hiding there after reading/looking at this very special book which I believe will continue to provide stimulation and amusement for many years.

Customer Reviews:
Great pictures but hard to manipulate.......2007-08-21
The pictures are lovely... nice and bright, easy to see without being too fussy. However, the cards are too hard to manipulate for little hands and there is an air of impatience about reading the words before getting to see the pictures - with little help given for what could be hidden. Now this could also be considered a good point, but my 18mth old just doesn't really care about what the hidden picture is, and is quite happy to stick his fingers in where the picture comes out from! A bit frustrating but a good idea.
really fun book.......2007-05-08
This is a really, really fun book. My daughter loves pulling the tab when I read on each page, "What am I?" It's a more unique touch and feel book. The textures are different than the usual furry stuff.
Great texture.......2007-03-08
My toddler loves this series but it is difficult for him to manipulate on his own, so some of the pages have been pulled apart. I strongly recommend that you supervise its use.

Book Description
When Dr. Nathan "Nate" Morris moves to Reed, Illinois from Atlanta, Georgia to open a medical practice with his best friend, Amy Vaughn, he's looking forward to putting the past--and his homophobic family--behind him. Considering Reed's reputation as a "gay-friendly" town, starting over should be a cinch. But when Nate is attacked outside his office late one night in an apparent gay bashing, he starts to wonder if maybe the good folks of Reed aren't as accepting as he thought. Sheriff Brandon Nash answers the call to a supposed gay bashing with feelings of skepticism. As an openly gay man holding an elected position, Brandon finds it hard to believe that Nate's attack is really a hate crime. Brandon may not know the reasons behind the attack, but as he looks into Nate's frightened eyes, there's one thing he's absolutely certain of: he'll do whatever it takes to keep Nate safe or die trying. Forging a relationship isn't easy under the best of circumstances, and as Nate's assailant steps up his efforts, Nate and Brandon's budding romance is put to the test. Add to that the sudden appearance of Seth, the brother who disowned Nate years ago, and Nate's nerves are stretched to the breaking point. When a series of arsons begins, and Brandon expresses the belief that the burnings are a ploy to flush him out, Nate decides to leave Reed behind, believing everyone else will be safe once he's gone. Brandon is all set to do whatever he can to make Nate stay, but when the brakes on Nate's car are tampered with, the decision is nearly taken out of both their hands. This book is definitely one that you can't put down until the very end because of the many twists and turns. Purchase this book to find out the mystery surrounding Nate's attack, and if Nate and Brandon's relationship can survive the stress and strain of their real life professions.
Customer Reviews:
A TRUE LOVE STORY!!!!!!.......2007-04-10
Any who have a negative comment on this story are expecting it to be of a Level of the Canturbury Tales or any Charles Dickes piece. Even Charles Dickens would have a difficult time pleasing these people.
This is neither of those types of Literature, it is a Type all unto itself. Tasteful Gay literature in its infancey, and doing a good job of it.
What this "IS" is a Love story that gets to the HEART of what a Gay Relationship, for the Majority of GLBT's in the world, is like, minus the actions that takes place in it. Strip away Nate's and Bran's Fight for survival from those who would do them in, and you have a Love Story of the Highest Level.
Add in the action of Survival, and you have a Piece that is Vibrant and Exciting.
Anyone who says it that, "is a bit over the top" has not payed attention to the Story line, and are only looking for something to criticize.
Take the time to Place yourself in as one of the Town's Characters, BECOME part of the Story, and you will Find yourself wrapped into this story as you were with the Play "Our Town".
Pretty Good.......2007-03-14
I agree with R Parklane that the plot was a little contrived and the characters almost too good to be true. However, I didn't buy this for the mystery--I bought it for the romance, and I enjoyed it very much on that level. Brandon Nash and his family are over the top in terms of their acceptance and good will toward him and his boyfriend Nate. (Add to that, they live in the most gay-friendly town in the U.S.) However, I have encountered that before in many other books (of varying genres). Even JD Robb fell into the trap when she gave Roarke the perfect Irish brood who accepted him & Eve without question, and without wanting his money.
The mystery, a "simple" gay bashing that is actually someone trying to murder Nate, is good enough to keep a reader engaged. The author is no Agatha Christie, but then she didn't write gay romance either! I recommend this to fans of gay romance, who like a little something special in the plot. This was very good for a debut novel, and I will definitely try more by the author.
Sweet but sappy.......2006-05-06
I like the idea of this novel a lot.
Hoping to escape his homophobic family and a failed love affair, a young gay doctor moves to a small, quiet Mid-western town. Almost immediately he's the victim of a gay-bashing--although he can't convince the town's hunky gay sheriff that the attack was anything but a random mugging. The truth turns out to be much more sinister than either man suspects.
There's a decent mystery at the heart of the novel, but it's never adequately developed. Ms. Bell is clearly more interested in the relationship between the two main characters--which is fine--but unfortunately she resolves any possible conflict between them each time a potential problem surfaces. Nate and Brandon fall instantly and totally (and embarrassingly) in syrupy sticky love--and there are no obstacles to that love...so where's the story?
This was clearly written with the best possible intentions, but it just didn't work for me. It's a first novel, though, so perfection is not to be expected.
Good but a bit over board! 3.5 stars!.......2006-04-22
I hovered between 3 and 4 stars for this book. 4 because it is addictive and the plot interesting enough to keep you wanting to find out more and certain parts are engaging. It is after all a mystery plus drama plus gay romance. 3 because the solving of the crime seems contrived, the romance is too fairy tale like (though I am a sucker for gay romance with happy ending), the characters stereotype (the good guys are really just too good including the doctor and his sheriff, the sheriff's almost too perfect family and the bad guys are just too rotten). Still I did enjoy the book. Thus 4 stars as I think this is a debut and amazon does not allow 0.5 star.
Amazing..........2006-04-13
I read this book for the first time about 3 years ago and I fell in love with it. I have re-read this book countless times because it such a beautiful, well-written story. I decided to do a search for the author and found that the book had been published and was for sale. I am overjoyed that I now have a chance to actually own this story, so to all of you that are wondering whether or not you should purchase this book - the answer is YES!!! Enjoy.

Book Description
The Seymour family is one of the oldest and most respected families in England. However, what no one knows is that this family is also magically inclined and it's a secret they intend to keep. Niclas Seymour can sense the thoughts and emotions of others. It was only years ago that he became indirectly responsible for his best friend's death when he told him that his wife was cheating on him and he killed himself. And the law of the magical families is that if blood is shed by magic done then the offender is placed under a blood curse. Niclas has not known true sleep in three years and it is slowly driving him mad. He will do anything to lift the curse and finally be free of it. The only way that can happen is if he does a great deed for a member of his best friend's family. Such an opportunity has eluded him thus far. Then a Miss Julia Linley, also from one of the most respected families--and a distant relative of his friend---needs aide in rescuing her aunt from Niclas' uncle. It seems the man is set on marrying her aunt against her wishes. Not a great deed, but Niclas will take up this challenge on her behalf. What he does not expect when he meets Julia is that just her touch alone has the ability to drown out the voices. He craves her soothing touch, not only for the relief it brings, but for the passion she arouses in him. However, as they travel, an old nemesis appears threatening to expose Niclas and the whole magical society throughout England. And if Julia discovers his dark secrets will he lose her forever?

A Read With Emotion and Heart!.......2007-02-09
Niclas Seymour is a descendent of an ancient Welsh clan. He has the magical ability to hear people's thoughts and feel their emotions. It's both a blessing and a curse. For years he was able to hide the fact he had power. But when he made the mistake of sharing some of his information, and it turns out poorly with a person taking their lives, Niclas is cursed never to find rest in sleep. For three years he has not found peace and he's willing to do what it would take in order to break the curse and this means helping Miss Julia Linley a distant cousin to the man who killed himself. If he can escort her to Wales and assist her there is a chance the blood curse will be lifted. But there is something magical about Julia. She brings him a moment of calm when they touch and he wants to this peace. While they travel together to Wales they are forced into spending time together which allows them to finally get to know each other. Niclas is drawn to the little beauty and when their passion grows he finds himself working hard at keeping things level. Their journey to Wales is fraught with dangers and Niclas knows the evil wizard Earl of Cadmaran is on the road and it's only inevitable they will meet. Will he be able to protect Julia from Cadmaran, and will they be given a chance at a happy ending?
First off the reader should know that there is not a sizzling sex scene to be found but before you write this off as not being a worthy read...WAIT. Ms. Spencer Paul has an incredible imagination and this story is a very good example of this. Niclas and Julia are given a lot of page time together and as a result you're able to see the growth in their characters and understand the passion that grows between them. This is a magical read with a unique premise of having to break a blood curse. Niclas is a perfect "tortured soul" and the reader can't help but fall in love with him. Julia is soft and kind, a wonderful complement to him and exactly the balm that he needs. Romance is not all about the physical act and sometimes a read is richer for the lack of love scenes. Falling in love is about the attraction, the feelings, the learning...it's all part of the process and Ms. Spencer Paul uses this approach when penning this story.
There are plenty of secondary characters that populate the pages and she's done a fine job of setting up the next book in the series by introducing us to the hero Kian. This is book is a strong read and one I have little trouble recommending. If you're looking for a sexually driven book this may not be the one for you. If on the other hand you're looking for a romance that is full of heart, emotion, and depth with a touch of magic look no further.
A Delightful Magical and Enchanting Story.......2007-01-12
Susan Spencer Paul has always had the ability to entertain and with her newest series featuring the magical mortals of the Seymour family she has created a world that will enchant and intrigue the reader long after the last page is turned.
Set in London and Wales she introduces the reader to Niclas Seymour who has the ability to `read' the minds of the people around him. Three years earlier he discovered his best friend's wife was unfaithful. Believing himself responsible to warn Drew of her infidelity without taking into account the frailty of human emotions, Niclas' best friend Drew committed suicide. Because it was Niclas' magic that inadvertently led to the spilling of a mortal's blood, the Guardians saw fit to lay a blood curse on Niclas in punishment of his misdeed. Three years later, Niclas has not slept, cursed to never know a moments peace he has one chance to redeem himself before going entirely mad.
With nothing to lose and everything to gain Niclas begs his cousin and family patriarch, Malachi, to allow him to escort Drew's distant relation Miss Julia Linley to rescue her aunt from the clutches of one of the Seymour's mad cousins. The chance this would be the cure for a blood curse was minimal, but Niclas was willing to try and whether or not it worked, somehow, just being in Julia's presence brings a calm to Niclas that he hasn't had in years. Their journey is fraught with a kindling passion and danger including a confrontation with the evil wizard the Earl of Cadmaran, a confrontation that will either break the curse or end Niclas' life.
*** This was a wonderful magical romantic fantasy from an inspired author whose imagination and creativity knows no bounds. I've yet to be disappointed by anything I've read by this author. Niclas has got to be one of the most tortured souls ever created, not having been able to sleep for three years and the weaker he became, not able to control his ability of reading emotions from other people. Meeting Julia for the first time was such a relief as here was the one mortal whose emotions were not overwhelming him, but whose very presence and touch had such a soothing effect on him.
Julia was also developed beautifully for her role in being Niclas' savior so to speak. She was a late bloomer having been out for seven seasons, Julia noticed Niclas before he'd removed himself from society and fallen in love with the suave, elegant man. From that very first moment there could be no other man for her. Her ability as a mere mortal without magic and whose emotions could not be read by Niclas was part of the surprising ending that was delivered beautifully in a lovely wrap-up to this story and as a beginning to this marvelous series. Be prepared to be enchanted and thrilled by this master wordsmith.

....at Least it introduced Kian & Mordachi.......2006-08-05
First off, there is Absolutely NO Making Love. I am a Grown Woman and I read all books, when I read a RoMANce book, I want a hot man pursuing a strong woman and then some making-of-the-love. There was very little pursuing. The Hero and Heroinne were together thoughout the story. Which is not bad, as long as there is some awesome snappy dialogue, tension and heart stopping encounters. There Were NONE of these. Niclas is okay. Sounds good looking and can fight. Julia is pretty but boring. There was no sexual tension or passion. There is only one sexually charge encounter which does not culminate into the deed. However, the cousin is hot, Kian, his book is next. And, the head of the family, Mordachi's book is after that. They had better be better and sexier.
Good stuff.......2006-07-21
Please, please, if you are a fan of the paranormal romance, read this book. I usually don't read authors that I am unfamiliar with, but I took a chance on this one and I was so pleasantly surprised. This book introduces a wonderful family of sorcerers who are trying to survive in English society without the rest of the world finding out what they are.
Niclas and Julia are amazing in this book. Niclas has been cursed and cannot find rest until he finds a way to undo the harm that he inflicted with his magic. He is restrained and a true gentleman. Julia is a beautiful, sweet woman who has convinced herself that she will never marry. You also find out that she has secretly loved Niclas from afar for a very long time.
Watching them find their love for each other and getting introduced to the other family members is an absolute joy. There were wonderful characters and they just came alive for me as I was reading this book. The villain of the piece is also fascinating, and I confess, probably my favorite character. I do so love the dangerous men! You will not waste money buying this book. Please keep in mind though that this is a historical paranormal romance; those looking for erotica should look elsewhere. This is a really sweet love story and should be appreciated as such.
I'll be diplomatic.......2006-03-11
I will be diplomatic about this book as it appears there is a huge division between the lovers and the haters of it. I will say that I found the premise exciting, I liked the magic in it, but I found it rather bland. I didn't get a feeling of excitement. It seemed all so proper. I waited for Niclas (and I found the spelling of his name rather annoying) to really jump out at me and he never did. Neither did Julia. There were other characters I thought could have their own books, but if the next one isn't more riveting, I doubt I will bother with any more.
