Customer Reviews:
Good question anwer book.......2007-02-11
The book is a list of problems and solutions. I enjoyed reading it.
WONDERFUL!.......2004-09-01
whoever gives this a so-so review is downright silly.
This book is absolutely wonderful! for people who know nothing
about design as well as design students. There are loads of
wonderful ideas.
MIchael Answers With Inspiring Decorating Ideas.......2004-03-27
Our TV fav host and ID does a neat thing: he answers emails and the publishes them with his answers and graphics.
The show is really Michael's wonderful personality and design flexibility. Here it shows in advice on all rooms from kitchen to bath to living room to bedroom to dining room to family room and all others. His adept touch is in them all, such as this suggestion in regards to breathing new life into stale furniture on a tight budget: "have it professionally painted." It's answers like this that endure this guy to us in HGTV's audience.
The index here is critical, since it cross-sections his answers not just by room, but by style, by topic e.g. wall color, by furniture piece, etc.
100 of them with good color shots and sketches and Michael. Only thing wish he'd included was a recommended bibliography for us who would like to go deeper.
Easy to Understand & Pratical Answers.......2004-02-03
At last an easy to understand interior design book offering a lot of worthwile information. Michael Payne delivers the same informative solutions "Designing For The Sexes" offers. This book walks the reader through design projects in such a way everything becomes possible.
Really enjoyed this book!.......2004-01-15
I read most of the reviews here before purchasing this book but had to see it for myself. I liked that the pictures and emails were from his show or private clients because it's a great point of reference. I'm a graphic designer, so he always made sense to me about color selections. Michael really listens to his clients and comes up with wonderful solutions, especially for couples with different tastes. I also don't think that you have to be a millionaire to incorporate his ideas, just smart about your budget and creative.

Customer Reviews:
Buy "Losing my Virginity" instead!.......2007-09-24
This is a nice book, a very quick read, as it briefly and superficially tells the major stories of this life, as he writes his "lessons", but without any of the great details! Hold out on the quick fix and just read Losing my Virginity instead. Or just buy both, but read this one AFTER you read the long one.
Losing my Virginity, his full biography, is probably the best book I've ever read so far. Its not a business book, so read it as you would "literature"... but its filled with great entertaining stories and helps you see how this guy's life has been.
If you are an entrepreneur, you MUST read Losing my Virginity!
quick & easy read.......2007-09-05
This book is straight to the point, easy to read. I'd recommend it to anyone in business and one who wants to learn more about Richard. He is a go getter!
Very Practical, Fun & Down to Earth!.......2007-08-28
Richard Branson's way of doing business is definetely a subject that anyone thinking of going into business should study.
In this book Richard tells the stories of how he developed different businesses and he is also open about where sometimes things didn't work out.
His basic philosophy is to have fun and to not be afraid of trying something different.
The book is written very well and you'll get through it quickly and really enjoy it!
Excellent Quick Read Book.......2007-07-30
Quick Reads books are an excellent initiative to get people back to fiction and non fiction book reading who usually read magazines or newspapers during a flight, bus, train journey or while commuting to work. They are also designed to get those new to English or who are put of by a normal sized novel to take an interest in reading. Screw It, Let's Do It certainly achieves these goals, those complaining this is a short read really don't understand the purpose of these books. Branson should be congratulated for supporting this great initiative. If you want a long read get a copy of Losing My Virginity: How I've Survived, Had Fun, and Made a Fortune Doing Business My Way instead, no one's forcing you to order this book or pick it up off the shelf instead of his top selling autobiography. A book of only 106 pages is obviously not going to be able to provide the depth and overall information that a full sized book does. But for a quick read non fiction book it does cram a lot in.
Screw It, Let's Do It is published after Losing My Virginity was written (although there is an advertisement in the back for an updated version of Losing My Virginity) so for those who have read that book it is an excellent quick update as well as way to refresh your memory of Branson's life from the former read. For those who haven't yet read Losing My Virginity and are just interested in finding out about Richard Branson's life I would recommend reading Losing My Virginity first as key parts of his life are told in this book and reading this first is like reading spoilers for a fiction novel. Since there seems to be an updated version of Losing My Virginity either on the market or about to hit the market my advice would be to wait for that one (the previous one was published in the late 90's). If you've got a plane to catch though and want a good quick read you can't go wrong with this though. Another great quick read non ficiton book is Danny Wallace and the Centre of the Universe.
Life's learnings from a great entrepreneur.......2007-07-29
For people strapped for time, the book is 106 pages and a quick read with all the teaching's from a great entrepreneur. There are 9 chapters and each chapter can be read in short chunks of time. In each chapter, Mr. Branson takes a theme like "Live the Moment", "Challenge Yourself" etc. and provides concrete real life examples of what they mean to him and the importance.
The synopsis of his book can be captured in the epilogue on page 103:
Just do it
Think Yes,not no
Challenge yourself
Have goals
Have fun
Make a difference
Stand on your feet
Be Loyal
Live life to the full.
I would encourage that you read the book once and capture what is important to you.

Book Description
Dear Dumb Diary, Here's the thing about Angeline. I know that she shouldn't really bother me that much. I mean, Angeline has even done nice things for me in the past, although I have come to believe that these were probably accidental. There's just something so infuriating about perfect people. When she's nice, it makes me mad. When she's pretty, it makes me mad. It never changes. I guess the only good thing about Angeline is that she can never bother me more than she does right now. Perfect people make me perfectly ill.
Customer Reviews:
The Most Amazing Most Spectacular Book Ever To Be Read In History By: KC from North Beoulevard School.......2006-12-22
The book I read is called Dear Dumb Diary. The book was written by Jim Benton. I am going to give this book five stars because it was about a girls life and how she goes to school and the boy she likes, and the girl who thinks that she is perfect in every way. Anyway, the girl in this story Jamie who tells about what is happening in school and her life. Some of the characters in the story are Angelina, Sparky, the lunch lady, Henry, and Isabelle. Angelina is the popular girl who likes the same guy Jamie does. And boy does that make Jamie MAD!!! Angelina is very bossy and likes to torment Jamie in any way she can. Sparky is Jamie's dog. She tells him everything that happens in her life. The lunch lady is the lady who serves disgusting lunches, in the cafeteria. Henry is the guy I was telling you about. He's the guy who both Jamie and Angelina like! And last but not least Isabelle. Isabelle is the Jamie's best friend in the whole wide world. They do everything together. And in the story Jamie likes to call people names in her diary. She talk about them and what they look like and what she plans on doing to them in the future. And one off the parts is when Angelina get her........................oops!! Can't tell you! You have to read the book to find out.
very funny.......2006-11-22
My 10 year old daughter loves these books-- and absolutely laughs out loud when she reads them! They're not deep literature or a difficult read, but the author has a very funny way with words and really seems to know the pre-teen mind.

For older end of age range.......2005-09-12
I picked this up at our local library after we watched chicks hatch at a display at our local fair. This was a little too much information for my 4 1/2-year-old. We have read many Stage 1 books from this series; this is the first one I've seen at this level that addresses reproduction. In very simple terms it talks about "mating" and "fertilization." Be prepared to respond to questions about this topic.
The other Stage 1 books I've read with my son seem to be shorter, with fewer words. He has begun to pick out some sight words and the simpler books work well for that. In my opinion, this one might have been better rated for the Stage 2 level in this series.
I will certainly return to this book with him. It is well written with accurate information and has clear illustrations.

My kids loved this book. Even I learned a few things.

". explains why some women run to problematic men, provides tips on how to gain support and self-esteem, and reveals how specific actions can break destructive relationship patterns.
Customer Reviews:
unique.......2007-03-14
This book genuinely teaches you how to approach things differently, to understand why, and to enjoy yourself while doing it. I take my hat off to the authors, who after all are men. They could have kept this to themselves, and therefore held onto the power; but they didn't. Thankyou.
Its got nothing to do with either sex.......2007-02-23
OK I've read both kinds of books. The ones that say women are crazy and the ones that say men of jerks. This is of the latter. It tells women that basically what ever goes wrong in the relationship, it isn't your fault. It catergorizes men into certian types. I guess for some women they must connect with this. Being a guy it just irritated me and gave women more fuel for their fires. Likewise I would believe that many women are not pleased with the male books that point out the shortcomings of women. The solutiions to life will not be found in the pages of this book or any others. The problem is much deeper than that. Women and men are totally different, with different needs and different expectations. We need to recognize that. I am afraid that feminism has done nothing tohelp this fact. In the "good old days" women and men had predefined roles and we didn't have the same problems. Now you have 2 very different sexes vieing for equality. Equality on every level will never work because we are so different.
I admit it, I'm with Dennis Leary........2007-02-20
Before I read this book I thought I was pretty cool. Now I realize I'm just a big jerk. My life has no meaning anymore, I think I'm just going to end it. Thanks Joe!
[BANG!] {thud)
Classic Oversimplification.......2007-01-12
I always love hearing suggestions like the ones in this book. The assumption coming in is that the reader bought the book because they have tried everything but the other person is still a "jerk". Unfortunately, it ignores the fact that a relationship is a two way street. There are certainly a number of cases where one person is completely (or mostly) in the wrong. However, is it not much more likely that both sides are not working together, and that both sides are indeed to blame? A husband may be a jerk, or a wife, and both sides would simply blame the other. It seems rather biased to assume that just because things aren't going well in a relationship that the man must be wrong, and the perfect woman must now employ these techniques in order for him to see the folly of his ways. It is classic revisionism that when the man is a jerk its his fault...however, when the women angers the man she is simply reacting to his awful behavior. Wake up people! Its not the womens fault when the mans acting terribly, but women its not the mans fault if you're acting horribly as well. Take responsibility for yourself and learn how to examine things from the other persons shows. That, rather then passive aggressiveness or blatant manipulation, is the real path to a stronger relationship and a more caring bond.
Stop trying to please that angry jerk! (and get out ASAP!).......2006-11-16
This book really saved my life when I was in a relationship with an angry, critical man and couldnt leave until I could afford to. It really helps you to stop trying to please them too. You cant make them happy or make them stop criticizing you. It's impossible. The best thing this book taught me is to stop arguing with them and instead - agree with them. You have to read it to understand how this works but it is so FUN and it gets them off your back!! It made my life so much more peaceful and tolerable. It is a very interesting twist on human behaivor and the effect of one person changing drastically and in turn the other person has no choice but to do the same. Helps you to take back your power, self-esteem and peace of mind. Dont let your "jerk" ever see it though! Make sure it is well hidden!

Hm.......2007-06-30
Starts off well...then it becomes long...finally, I couldn't wait to finish it. "Do It!: Let's Get Off Our Buts" is not good in motivation. It's mostly rationalization of virtues, life, why, how, etc. That's very tedious for me. Worst of all, the book serves as a quotational book. That's the biggest mistake of the book. It goes like this: sprinkles of quotes in the beginning...then increases....then becomes incredibly excessive...and to the end, it's suffocating me. Superfluous. Chalk this one up as "how to not write a book". The story goes like this in how I happened to read the book: a friend got it as a gift, read one chapter, gave up...sit on a bookshelf for years...another friend got regifted with that book...she read 20 pages and gave up...let it sit in the bookshelf for months...until I spotted it. Unlike the other two, I read the whole book and figured that I don't need it. Why? I did it...that was easy as a pie. But....but...but...did the book serve its purpose for the last two? No...exactly. Exactly...my point. If it didn't work for the two, then the book failed miserably. Of course, two kinds of people in the world: those who don't do it and those who do it. I am in the latter category, and obviously the book is unncessary for me. To think of others needing this book, I suggest them to watch "Rocky", "My Left Foot", "Hoop Dreams", or "The Miracle Worker". If all fails, they are happy anyway (sort of).
Excellent book. Fun and easy to read........2007-04-16
I really enjoyed this book. It's a quick read even though it looks large. I read straight through it and now am planning to go back and do all of the activities. I also loved all of the great quotes.
People Get Ready!.......2006-06-14
I was fortunate to hear Peter McWilliams speak at an Insight Seminar around the time this book was published (1991). "Do It! Let's Get Off Our Buts" has the same same easy, upbeat style in writing that Peter McWilliams has as a speaker.
This is a gonzo book filled on every right-hand page with juicy quotations. You could easily buy the book at this low price for the quotations alone. It's a fat book that encompasses psychology, philosophy (McWilliams is a student of John-Rogers, founder of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness and many other organizations devoted to peace and spirituality), and practical advice--with lots of humor in the mix.
I liked his coining of the word "selfing"--which means "doing for one's Self, in the larger sense of Self, as if True Self, or 'To thine own self be true.' It means fulfilling the dreams, goals and aspirations inherent within us. It means living our life 'on purpose.'" This term and its definition are, for me, at the heart of the book and what it uniquely has to offer in the bustling world of self-help books.
A friend asked me after my book was published, "How does it feel to be living your dream?" I replied that "Your dream is only as good as you are, so you better get ready." This book is an excellent guide to help you get there and get ready for what comes next.

This book was great! I am a total procrastinator and I have put things off for so long and this book got to the root of why!! It was like a huge wake up call that this life is the only one you have and if you don't do what you want to do now...there is no next time! I would recommend this book to anyone who is ready to make a big change in there life and start feeling good about themselves. It is great. Author is great!! Quotes are motivational!!

Very complete.......2007-01-09
I haven't used a transition book by anyone else to compare, bu thtis book is incredibly detailed. It has discipline, morning, circle, attention getting, games, rhymes, chants, stories...and then What, Why, When, How and preperation information for each activity. And their are hundreds of them! I use it for my own 3 kids and the 3 extra I watch for daycare.
Well-Organized and Solid..........2005-12-15
None of these techniques will revolutionize your classroom, but Jean Feldmen organizes this book (like all of her books) with masterful structure.
Separating the chapters by activity and sub-organizing each chapter by topic allows a teacher to economically turn to the transition she needs with little time to spare. The Discipline and Attention Getter chapters will save tons of time!
One added bonus: Black and white pages that copy easily on any copy machine.
Will keep the little ones busy with lots of ideas.......1998-07-10
I am ordering this book, my current volume of this book is from the library. This is an excellent book. I am a day care provider, and my children were thrilled with all the stuff we found inside this book. All of the materials were easy to get too. I highly recommend it to any teacher of preschoolers and up; and to every day care provider.

Book Description
Many birds travel thousands of miles each year, migrating between summer and winter homes. Just how they find their way back and forth, sometimes returning to the exact same nesting grounds each year, has puzzled ornithologists for years. Roma Gans details the many theories scientists have proposed to explain the mysteries of migration.

High Flying Science Discovery.......2007-09-03
Children are naturally curious about nature. This book, among many of the Let's Read and Find Out Science books, is a wonderful book that helps children learn more about the world around them.
As with most of the books in this series, it opens with a story-line to which kids can easily relate, like watching birds go from tree to tree. Beautiful illustrations which also label the birds will assist children in beginning to identify birds.
Children are introduced to vocabulary such as:
1. migrating
2. Ornithologist
Children will learn about a widely held past theory about why birds seemed to "disappear" in the winter. They will discover a few leading theories as to how birds currently "find their way," including directional navigation (North, East, West, South) and the possible use of the Earth's magnetic field.
There is a wonderful chart at the end of the book which illustrates the various heights at which birds and aircraft fly.
This book is sure to delight, and educate.
Pretty Birds.......2003-03-22
This is a good book because the birds are pretty. I liked the arctic terns in the book.
