Nice book but not for beginner.......2007-10-05
This book help you think and has good excercise to improve your solidworks skills. It a good book to used when taking a class. I would not recommend to use if you never used solidworks before and are not in a class
Excellent book!.......2007-09-28
I've used CAD programs for about 17 years starting with Autocad, and this is by far the best software book I've used. It's readable, concise, well organized, and user friendly. The author is very familiar with the program and shares his opinions in a useful manner. I'm hoping that Mr. Murray has a new revision to keep up with the SolidWorks releases.
Inside Solidworks by David Murray.......2007-09-26
As a SolidWorks user with over 8,000 hours experience and a Sr. Mechanical/Structural designer this book helps you through some of the hurdels you encounter. As a designer I want to spend my time designing not trying to figure out the software and do what I want it to do. Solidworks is easy to use but sometimes you need some reference material to describe a particular problem. This book does just that. It has a good overall approach to almost every problem. It is not at a fine detail level because there is too much material to cover but I would highly recommend this book for anyone that needs help problem solving the software intent. I had puchased earlier versions of this book and this latest printing did not disappoint me.
Good Reference with complete coverage.......2007-03-18
Overall coverage of this book is better than most (SolidWorks for Dummies and Sham Tickoo's books). Coverage includes Sheetmetal, surfacing and SW 2006 material. Only negative, the book has few example problems. If your looking for a lot of example problems, I would recomment the Sham Tickoo books.
The best so far.......2007-03-06
This is the best of the Solidworks books I have used. My only major complaint with the book is that it will not sit flat on the desk while I am using it! A minor issue is that future lessons often depend on files created in earlier lessons. Be sure to save your earlier work!

Excellent Overview for FBI Special Agent Applicants.......2007-01-02
I've read several books on the FBI Special Agent career path, and this book is the most informative overall collection of data available. This is the only book I've read that details the specifics of an agent's career path and what to expect during various levels of an agent's career. It also provides excellent preparation for the two Phases of the agent application process, and I highly recommend this book to any person who is about to embark on the lengthy Special Agent application process.

This book was awesome! It was extremely informative and answered all of my questions. It was a bit of a techincal read but it contains everything from a to z about the fbi.
Educational reading.......2006-10-25
I am a retired FBI Special Agent and find this book very enlightning and also entertaining. It reminds me of my FBI experiences, from Training School through my work in the different Field Offices. If I were a young person interested in Law Enforcement as a career, I would most certainly find this book as a "must" read.
Perfect guide for anyone interested in the FBI.......2006-09-16
I was interested in being a special agent with the FBI before reading this book and after reading it I am even more interested. This book was very good at explaining the application process for the FBI. Also gave info on a wide range of topics from the history of the FBI, to what an agent does. Anyone interested in a career as a special agent should read this for guidance and valuable insight on this career. It was very helpful to me and can help you out as well.

Customer Reviews:
Within a week of finishing this book, had two interviews and offered a position!.......2007-05-20
I have gone on a few interviews and wasn't being offered any positions, which had been quite frustrating. I thought I have to be missing something and going into the interview not fully knowing what to expect. I decided to go see what would be available to help me secure a teaching job. This book has it ALL. It is an easy read with explanations and presentations of numerous topics in everyday language. This book helps you discover your strengths and weaknesses, presents cover letter and resume tips with examples, suggests role-playing an interview, recommends becoming familiar with the school district through their website prior to the interview, offers the top 21 questions most schools will ask with tips of what they are really asking and tips for answering plus 70 other frequently asked questions, conduct during the interview (dress/body language) including questions to avoid, questions to ask the principal or superintendent at the end of your interview, and your follow-up thank you letter. In addition, the appendix provides 20 pages of educational resources. This book gives you everything you need to get yourself ready for those all important interviews. After you read this book, you will feel confident, calm and best of all, well prepared. The perfect book for anyone who is becoming a new teacher, returning to teaching or pursuing the teacher profession through a nontraditional path. Good Luck!!
A MUST FOR TEACHERS!!!!!!!.......2006-08-13
Unbelievably useful advice and a true stress relieving guide to getting the job you want!
Good and Practical Advice for Would-Be Teachers.......2000-05-27
Like some other reviewers, I am currently looking for a teaching position. I ordered this book and found it had very good information on where to find jobs, how to write a resume, and how to answer possible interview questions. I would say the resume part was the most useful so far, as few resume books have examples of teacher resumes. From the examples provided I was able to construct a more condensed resume from the three-page one I previously had.
However, the jury is out in so far as whether I will be able to obtain employment in the field even with this advice. The reason I did not give this book five stars is that there was not a whole lot of information for those people who are changing careers in mid-life. Most of the emphasis seemed directed at those traditional college age graduates with little or no employment experience.
Must Have For All Teachers.......2000-02-07
I found this book to be a must have for all teachers. As a recent graduate with a teaching degree, I was nervous about finding the right teaching job for me. I used the techniques and suggestions in the book. I was offered a job from my very first teaching interview.
A great resource for those "still looking".......1999-12-11
I just got this book and have only flipped through it, but already I can tell it will be a great asset. I am a recent graduate with a teaching degree. Our last year we had several seminars and workshops on interviews and finding a job. I have notes scattered all over the place. This book puts all the same info in one place and a whole lot more. Really great interview tips. Lots of potential questions and what not to do or say during an interview. I can't wait to read this book in depth! A definite "must have" in the increasing competitiveness of the teaching job market!

Customer Reviews:
useless for anyone who needs help.......2007-09-07
My problem with all these books that are supposed to help us lawyers find a job or a new career is that they assume we are already successful lawyers. Most of the advice offered is for people who've been practicing for years and therefore have an established network of contacts. The advice for those without experience in the law is geared toward those who already had another career prior to law and suggests that job seekers focus on that career.
This book, all the other "how lawyers can find job" books, and my useless Career Services Office simply assume that all job seekers have parents who are partners in law firms, great networks, and years of related experience.
Even the one of the good reviews given on this site is from someone who has years of experience. Duh! The book promises that it can help anyone at any level of their career. It fails.
What an EXPERIENCED lawyer can do.......2007-02-05
I'm very disappointed in this book. As a recent law school grad WITHOUT years of experience, I was looking for ALTERNATIVES to practicing law at all!! Instead, this book wasted my time and money by assuming I would have the legal work experience to make me attractive to other professions or give me the knowledge to begin some business of my own.
All I really learned was what I already knew was available as an alternative -- teach!
Phoey!! What a waste of my money and time.
Good Starting Point.......2006-09-10
So many lawyers feel burned out, exhausted and stressed--and they don't where to turn next. This book is an easy and anonymous next step for lawyers exploring career change solutions.
Some of the other reviewers raised valid criticisms; parts of the book are very general indeed. However, for many lawyers, it's the ideal starting point for analyzing what they really want to do with their life.
Many lawyers I know have enjoyed this book's exercises for mapping out an ideal job and analyzing transferable skills. They also like the appendix listing jobs in and around the law; it's good for brainstorming possibilities.
As a lawyer coach, I particularly appreciate the chapter dealing with lawyers' finances. Far too many attorneys have no realistic handle on their spending--either personal or professional. Many don't know how much money they REALLY NEED to live on. A financial analysis and budget are critical parts of any job change.
The author peppered the book with links to websites listing jobs, salaries and benefits, and other job-hunting tips. The book functions well as intended: as a good starting point for lawyers contemplating career change.
This book was overly simplistic and had little good advice........2003-12-05
I could sum this book up in eight words:
So you didn't like law school? Try teaching.
There I just saved you the time of ordering and reading it. This book was a typical one of those books you see in a public library with really basic common sense ideas and little insight.
WHAT ARE THESE OTHER REVIEWERS TALKING ABOUT?.......2003-10-27
I cannot believe the criticism of this book. THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR LAWYERS WHO ARE HAPPY IN THEIR WORK AND WHO HAVE FOUND THEIR NICHE.
THE THRUST OF THE BOOK IS TO ASSIST LAWYERS WHO HAVE EITHER GROWN DISILLUSIONED WITH THE PRESSURES OF LEGAL PRACTICE OR WHO HAVE DECIDED THAT THEY WISH TO APPLY THEIR SKILLS IN ANOTHER ARENA.
YOU CANNOT READ THIS BOOK ONCE AND EXPECT TO APPLY THE PRINCIPLES WITHIN A FEW DAYS OR WEEKS. This is a book for long term change and not for the impatient, which is a quality I suspect some of the negative reviewers have demonstrated.
THIS BOOK HAS HELPED ME ENORMOUSLY THROUGH A DIFFICULT CAREER CHANGE. WITHOUT THIS BOOK I WOULD NOT HAVE COPED BECAUSE THE STRATEGIES AND INFORMATION CONTAINED IN IT TAKE TIME TO PUT INTO PRACTICE. IF YOU TAKE A LONG TERM VIEW, IMPLEMENT THE IDEAS AND REGULARLY REFER TO THE BOOK WHEN REVIEWING YOUR PROGRESS THEN THIS BOOK IS INDISPENSIBLE.
The author has pinpointed with great accuracy the level of discontent in some quarters of the profession. Hey with the blame culture, billable hours, risk management, and so on, it is important that alternative career options be identified.
These issues are not often discussed among professionals and can make for uncomfortable reading. This does not mean that they should be swept under the carpet and ignored.
The techniques start with self assessment and identification of the unbelievable skills that we have acquired as Lawyers. Nowhere does the author criticise the profession or fellow professionals.
Indeed she gives people positive strategies for reviewing the options available, making choices and taking action steps.
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A CAREER CHANGE WITHIN OR OUT OF THE PROFESSION, THIS IS THE LEADING BOOK AND AN ESSENTIAL GUIDE.

an excellent introduction to Connie Willis..........2007-03-16
Inside Job is the 2005 Hugo Award winning novella by Connie Willis. Inside Job is a modern day paranormal mystery story with a generous helping of pop culture, literature, and movie references.
Rob is a the publisher of a skeptic's magazine The Jaundiced Eye and a professional debunker. His job description is pretty much what it sounds like: he, and his staff of one, debunks claims of the paranormal. When his employee, more of a side kick, calls him about a new claim to debunk, Rob is brought into a mystery of the paranormal which might be more real than he could expect.
While other reviews and descriptions have given away details of the plot which could entice a reader, there is something to be said for letting the novella surprise the reader. Inside Job offers up a fun and sometimes silly story about skepticism, Hollywood, fake psychics and the literary tradition (yes, Willis weaves all of this together in fewer than one hundred pages). References to noted skeptic and reporter from the early 20th Century, H.L. Mencken abound and this adds to the narrative. More specifically, Inside Job is somewhat built around Mencken's ideas as each chapter opens with a Mencken quote.
Willis has written a fine, fun novella and without knowing what else was nominated for the Hugo that year, I can certainly see why Inside Job won. It's a good, fast, fulfilling read. The time investment is small, but now I want to read more of Connie Willis's work. That's the mark of a good book, no matter what the size.
-Joe Sherry
Good, but not my favourite Connie Willis book.......2007-01-14
Inside Job is a very enjoyable easy read, I read it in one sitting. As usual for Connie Willis, the book was exquisitely researched, and is chock full of interesting little tidbits along with a delightful story. If you like Connie Willis books you will undoubtedly like this one. Not as meaty as Passages, or such great fun as Bellwether, but still better than the general run of fiction I run into and well worth the time and money.
A delightful little enigma........2006-09-23
Rob is a true skeptic. In fact, he makes his living (if you could call it that) investigating psychics and channelers while publishing a magazine called the Jaundiced Eye. His motto is; if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. That may be why he has never allowed himself to get involved with his too good to be true and beautiful assistant Kildy. Little does he know that cosmic forces are about to change his life and tie his beliefs into a Gordian Knot.
Something extraordinary is happening in the performances of a local channeler. In the midst of her act, the spirit of a skeptic from the past generation seems to be taking over and telling the attendees what rubes they are and what a fraud the channeler is. To top it off, this spirit seems to be none other than Rob's hero H. L. Mencken, a great reporter and debunker from the past. Do you see Rob's problem now? If he accepts the spirit is genuine, he must accept channeling as real, but to remain a true skeptic, he must denounce the voice of his hero.
This book, set in Beverly Hills, is styled after a classic hard boiled detective story, and true to that form, Rob smells a trap and suspects that the dame is in on the scam. When Kildy confesses her love for him, it only confirms his suspicions. How can she prove her love to a true skeptic? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and to win the day, true love must untangle this web and rise above all else. But how?
Both short and intricately woven, this story reminded me of the M. C. Escher print of The Drawing Hands, where the left hand is drawing the right and vise-versa, only in this case one of the hands should be holding an eraser. In the end, it's the chicken and the egg question all over again with the creationist against the evolutionists. The ending is written so that a true skeptic will feel quite satisfied, but with the spirit of a dead debunker intruding on the present, who really gets the last laugh? I highly recommend this book to anyone with a brain.

Short but sweet.......2006-04-08
When the hero in Heinlein's Glory Road meets the heroine, one of his less arousing impressions is innate grace, poise and perhaps dignity, such that no contortion could distract from her beauty.
While Connie Willis is not (yet) the Empress of the known galaxies, and might perhaps even have an unflattering photo on her driver's license, even her least-wonderful work is still wonderful, rewarding the first reading but also the second and fifth.
Your humble reviewer had never even read a romance, but a sub-plot and some dialog in To Say Nothing of the Dog opened my eyes. The leading lady of Inside Job may indeed be "too good to be true," but I found that aspect helped me to identify with the not-very-romantic hero. Perhaps "such a one could never love me" is part of the wonder, if you pull the last petal from the daisy on "she loves me," in marriage as well as fiction?
BTW, "too good to be true" came from a comic strip in Asimov's Science Fiction - the gist of which is a librarian tormenting a patron, refusing to lend her his personal copy of Inside Job. His supervisor calls it "taunting" and he says "tantalizing" - but I found it tormenting that I had not kept my copy of the magazine where Inside Job first appeared.
If the stated price for 100 pages seems to much for a first taste of Connie Willis, I'd suggest her Doom's Day Book, in a completely different key but my own nominee for a classic, a book so fine that folks will be reading it in a century or six.
Good story, but the dollars-per-page ratio is a bit high.......2006-03-18
I adore Connie Willis' writing. Like the screwball comedies she loves, she manages to make you suspend your disbelief (actually, I think she gets me to stuff it into a closet fora while) and accept patently implausible scenarios. She puts in enough plot twists to make a pretzel dizzy, and surprises me at least once in every novel. She's laugh-out-loud funny at the same time she imparts a few Deep Thoughts, and, by golly, she knows how to tell a story. If you like your F&SF stories to be first and foremost *enjoyable,* you should be lapping up her stuff like candy.
So, why did I give Inside Job only four stars? It's primarily because of the financial value. This is a *novella.* It's not even the length of a short novel (as was Bellwether). I love Willis' writing so much that I lost patience with the book showing up at the local library, or in it ever appearing in paperback; I finally sprang for the hardback.
I'm not sorry I did, really, but the price-for-performance ratio isn't quite up to her best work. It's a very enjoyable story about a debunker of spiritualists who finds himself confronting an apparently-channelled H.L. Menken; I'm sure you'll fall into the easy chair with a box of cookies, as I did, and consume them both in one sitting. On the other hand, I don't think I'm going to re-read this book as often as I have Passages, Bellwether, or To Say Nothing of the Dog.
If you're new to Willis, please start with another book. I'm sure that you'll become as addicted to her work as I am, and you'll eventually pick up a copy of this tale. But this isn't the best introduction you could have to this very, very fine author.
Book Description
The break-out business parable that’s already sold more than 70,000 copies, The Angel Inside tells the story of a young man searching for meaning in his work and finding it in an unlikely place: the life and art of Michelangelo.
There will come a time when you must decide to lead the life someone else has chosen for you…or the life you want.
According to legend, when a young boy asked the great Renaissance artist Michelangelo why he was working so hard hitting the block of marble that would eventually become his greatest sculpture, David, the artist replied, “Young man, there is an angel inside this rock, and I am setting him free.” In The Angel Inside, the renowned consultant and career coach Chris Widener uses Michelangelo’s words to explore the hidden potential that exists within us all.
In this unforgettable tale, Tom Cook, a disillusioned American businessman, has traveled to Italy looking for direction in his life. In Florence, the last city on his tour, Tom meets a mysterious old man who opens his eyes to the art and life of Michelangelo and reveals what the artist’s work can teach him—and all of us—about the power of following your passion.
Among the lessons that Tom learns over the course of the next day:
The beauty is in the details
Your hand creates what your mind conceives
All great accomplishments start with a single swift action
No one begins by creating the Sistine Chapel
Whether you’re looking for a way to reinvigorate your career or searching for the courage to begin a new one, THE ANGEL INSIDE is a must-read if you want to find true meaning in your life and work.

Speaking For Millions.......2003-10-04
Mr.Gleek knows his stuff. This book is broken down into bite size pieces. Open to any page and get at least one good idea. This book is also a perfect example of how to use a self-published book as a combination business card, promotional tool, and catalog. The only reason I didn't give the book a 5, is that much of the content is repeated in Mr. Gleeks other book; MARKETING & PROMOTING YOUR OWN SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS.I don't mean the same ideas, I mean whole sections, word-for-word. If I had not bought both books, I would have been totally satisfied with this one.
Speaking for Money.......2002-02-20
As a professional speaker, you have to understand how to make money. The other books I've read on this topic give you some good tips, but this is the best one I've read on how to MAKE MORE MONEY as a speaker. I highly reccomend it. I benefited a lot from Fred's extensive experience with CareerTrack and his knowledge of the public seminar business. His insights on how to develop your own products are amazing. Without reading this book I'm sure I would have been a speaker, but not a RICH speaker.

The 9/11 Tragedy: Official Story...or Inside Job? Find out in this startling analysis by a leading investigative journalist.
A Sobering Look at 9/11 as an Inside Job
The official story about 9/11 is discredited. That is the sobering conclusion reached by millions of Americans, all across the political spectrum, who have sifted through the evidence uncovered by hundreds of independent researchers. Many honest citizens are now forced, with sadness and reluctance, to make an almost unthinkable inference:
Powerful US officials must have had foreknowledge of the planned attacks, and then acted from the inside to: thwart efforts to prevent 9/11, remove or cover up criminal evidence, and hamper inquiries into what happened.
Were the horrific events of September 11, 2001 truly an inside job? This book will help you decide for yourself. In this work, world-renowned conspiracy theorist Jim Marrs makes a compelling case that 9/11 marks the intersection of several conspiracies at once, each based on overlapping political agendas. Support for his thesis comes from this sampling of the many disturbing anomalies, cited by Marrs:
Standard air defense mechanisms systematically failed, simultaneously.
Interceptor jets were scrambled too late, too slowly, and from the wrong locations.
President Bush proceeded with a "photo op" long after he knew we were under attack.
Fires could not have caused the free-fall collapse of the World Trade Center towers.
The collapse of Building 7 in the complex was later admitted to be a demolition.
Vital physical evidence was either removed or has never been released to investigators. Key officials claimed warnings never came, despite massive evidence to the contrary.
Inside Job is the definitive journalistic account of the hidden role of the Bush administration in failing to prevent the 9/11 attacks. The author provides heavy documentation of his findings, plus extensive appendices that include perspectives from families of 9/11 victims, and excerpts from the RICO Act lawsuit filed by 9/11 widow Ellen Mariani.
Customer Reviews:
The Official Story About 9/11 is Discredited.......2007-10-02
Jim Marrs does a credible job of explaining the nonsense of the official version of the WTC attack. There's 134 footnotes from a variety of sources to add to the truth. Everyone needs to learn the truth, not the cartoon version we've been fed. What's more believeable? A ragtag bunch of badly dressed losers doing this led by a bearded dude in a cave or vicious profiteers with access to the latest technology? Wake up, before a new big lie can be created to excuse the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Iranians.
Good 9/11 conspiracy overview.......2007-06-29
Good overview that shows the complete and total impossibility of the US governments official story of what occured prior to and the day of the 9/11 attacks. This book is a little outdated and there are several more thorough and up to date books but this is worth reading. Personally I believe 9/11 was an "inside job" but whether you believe that or not only a complete and total moron believes the official story. But considering a good percentage of Americans actually think Saddam Hussien was in on 9/11 the controllers can more or less get away with anything given the average American has an IQ a few points below that of plant life.
Marrs Must Be From Mars.......2006-09-23
This is the same Jim Marrs that has been writing about the JFK conspiracy for 40 years. Well, looks like he found another topic to fatten his wallet. Don't waste your time with this boring nonsense.
This book has been superseded by 'The Terror Conspiracy'........2006-09-12
Jim Marrs has published a new book "The Terror Conspiracy", incorporating "Inside Job" along with a lot of new material. "Inside Job" is now out of print although some copies may still be in circulation. In any event, everything in "Inside Job" is in "The Terror Conspiracy", updated, expanded and in the context of a much wider ranging book.
"The Terror Conspiracy" is available now for immediate shipping.
