Do you know your dewbacks from your banthas? Could you tell the difference between a stormtrooper, a scouttrooper, and a snowtrooper? Could you pick a Rodian out of a lineup? The Complete Star Wars Trilogy Scrapbook can help you acquire this vital information. Illustrations and over a hundred photographs from the original trilogy help you put names to faces--so you'll know that Salacious Crumb is the name of that tiny, cackling animal at Jabba's court. Though the book contains an abridged version of the events covered in the Star Wars trilogy, readers should be advised to see the films first as the book discloses crucial secrets best left to the film to reveal. The book is aimed at younger readers--but SW fans of all ages will enjoy this photo-filled volume. --C.B. Delaney

Easy reading for a young star wars fan but.........2007-04-11
My 7 year old son is a Star Wars fan, I bought this book for his reading practice taking advantage of one of his favorite movies and the continuos interest of knowing about movie facts. I rated three stars because the print out has a lack of quality which makes reading a little bit difficult because of gray letters over a black background. Besides this small drawback he enjoyed very much. My recommendations is to look forward similar scrapbooks with a clearer reading.
Small book BIG memories! A real Star Wars scrapbook.......2005-08-12
Ok yes it has great pictures. Yes it covers Episodes IV, V, and VI. Glossy pictures (some I haven't seen anywhere else) and nice tidbits of background lore. It even alludes to Episodes I, II, and III. It says ages 9-12 but I even liked it (ok 44 year old Sci-fi fan). A real bargain for the price and a nice summary of the Trilogy. I would put it up there with the Star Wars Visual Dictionaries for the pictures. For the price you can check it out but I bet you will be glad you did. As always I love Amazon's packing. My stuff always arrives in great shape - they care. It really is a cool little book. As a gift I think any Star Wars fan would really enjoy it (no matter their age). Peace on.
Very Good!.......2002-03-22
I loved this book very much, and I was surprised how much information it gives you. I love Mark Cotta Vaz and I read his decription books. The book is exellent exept for one thing, it is not very detailed. It has the best pictures from the Star Wars Special Edition and it covers everything. I would definatly recommend this book.
Pretty Good.......1998-04-24
This book is a great starter book for the ameture Star Wars fan. It has great detailed pictures and gives a good amount of info of different things that exist in the Star Wars universe. If you want a lot on info (instead of pictures) get The Guide to the Star Wars Universe. I'd rate it 9.9 it's not perfect but it's about as close as you can get! Still if you want picture, get this book.
I agree with JakeH.......1997-04-27
I very much agree with JakeH. He is actually the one who got me the book as a birthday gift. It has photos and fairly detailed discriptions

Four Stars.......2007-08-06
Another great installment of the Young Jedi knights in the Diversity set story. Jaina, Jacen, Tenel Ka and everyone are such interesting charactors. There was a new member Lusa who was just as interesting. I also liked Raynor's crush on her. I still find the Diversity Alliance so interest that they are out to kill all of humankind. Its not a story I expected to find in Star Wars but I'm enjoying it.
A very good book, worth 4 1/2 stars.......2001-01-06
Though I had read the intire Young Jedi Knights series (except the final trilogy) several times, I was surprised to note as I started reading it once again that this was the only one so far that I remembered virtually nothing about. In it, Jacen and Jaina's old friend Lusa comes to the Jedi Academy desperatly seeking refuge from the Diversity Aliance, an all alien political movement bent on destroying all humans, that she was once a part of. Meanwhile, everyone continues to search for Bornan Thul who is desperately trying to evade capture from the Diversity Aliance and keep from them the information he is protecting, because if they get ahold of it, it could mean the end of humankind... Meanwhile, Raynar gets a crush on Lusa and it moves him to do something for his family while his father (Bornan Thul) is missing. He decides to go to Mechis 3 and take care of his uncles droid operation since he too seems to be missing. As you can probably guess, everyone goes with him and discovers a startling truth. In general, this was a worthy book to continue this fascinating saga that tells of the next generation of Star Wars heroes, though not the best in the series. For one thing I wish they would include Anakin more. He is my favorite of the Solo children (with Jaina as a close second) and it's not as it there is even a big age difference, he is only a year and 1/2 younger than Jacen and Jaina. Another thing that bothers me is that who exactly gave all the kids permision fly around the galaxy by themselves? Just because Tenel Ka has her own ship somehow gives EVERYONE the freedom to go where they please. This does not sound like something that protective parents like Han and Leia would allow. I myself am fifteen, the same age as the kids in this series, and I am not allowed to do these things. Oh well, it is just a book. Oh, and one more thing, I would not advise reading this book before the others in the series, because it will make absolutely no sense on it's own.
Great series!!.......1998-09-28
I've been reading the Young Jedi Knights series from Book One and have always been looking for the next one to come out! I absolutely love how the characters have really come into their own and seem nearly real - almost like you know them! This book was not the best on I've read in the series, but it was good and I can't wait to grab the next one!
it was a little confusing but great anyway.......1998-09-19
great book!my favorite part is when Em Teedee gets his own repulsor unit. And Zekk completes his first official bounty hunter mission.BUY IT NOW!!!
Good but Jedi Bounty was a lot better........1998-07-05
The book was good but i think it definitly could have been better. For all you Star Wars fans I do recommand this book but only because this book is basically a kind of an understanding book. I mean it helps you understand what is going on but it needs a lot more action. But they definitly get better! So don't think that all of the books are like this.

"Watching from his throne, the Emperor laughed with evil glee. 'Good! Your hate has made you powerful. Now, fulfill your destiny and take your father's place at my side!'" Luke, of course, refuses and good triumphs over evil in Return of the Jedi. The final installment of the original trilogy--flawed, perhaps, by the Ewoks (what was Lucas thinking?)--is beautifully presented in this charming book. Images from the film provide inspiration for Brandon McKinney's crisp illustrations, which complement John Whitman's adaptation of the original screenplay. This book is a perfect little gift for Star Wars fans of all ages. --C.B. Delaney
Amazon.com Audiobook Review
Fifteen years after the dramatic success of National Public Radio's adaptation of Star Wars, the production team re-formed to create Return of the Jedi: The Original Radio Drama. Though the running time is scaled down to three hours, listeners are still treated to an expanded story line and new scenes. Another fine cast is assembled, with radio series veterans Perry King and Ann Sachs as Han Solo and Leia Organa, and newcomer Joshua Fardon as an excellent Luke Skywalker. While Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) is the only actor from the film, Ed Begley Jr. contributes a gravely voiced Boba Fett, John Lithgow adds a rather somber Yoda, and Edward Asner, hopefully not being typecast, makes a believable Jabba the Hutt--though only an expert would be able to tell if his Huttese pronunciation is correct. The characters of this radio production inhabit a stereo soundscape created by careful blending of sound effects and John Williams's music from the original films. As with the two previous productions--Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, Jedi is a treat for the ears--and the mind's eye. Any Star Wars fan will enjoy this production, even though it does mean imagining rather than seeing Anakin with his mask and helmet off or Luke defeating the Rancor. Besides, the Ewoks are much less annoying when you can't see them. (Running time: 3 hours, 3 cassettes) --C.B. Delaney
Book Description
It was a dark time for the rebel alliance...Han Solo, frozen in carbonite, had been delivered into the hands of the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt. Determined to rescue him, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Lando Calrissian launched a hazardous mission against Jabba's Tatooine stronghold.
The Rebel commanders gathered all the warships of the Rebel fleet into a single giant armada. And Darth Vader and the Emperor, who had ordered construction to begin on a new and even more powerful Death Star, were making plans to crush the Rebel Alliance once and for all.
Customer Reviews:
The Jedi are back!.......2007-09-11
Return of the Jedi is, of course, one of the foundation stories in the Star Wars saga. The film is a classic loved by millions of fans. How then does an author attempt to put the story into words after the fact? I do not envy anyone trying to write novelizations of the first three films. You have to stay with the facts of the film, but you want to expand the reader's understanding of the action and further develop the characters. Not an easy task by any means. Whatever you add to the story that was not in the film is going to upset somebody, no matter how well it fits in.
So, keeping that in mind, Mr. Kahn deserves a tremendous amount of credit for his efforts on the book. The bones of the story are the same. Han Solo is rescued from the clutches of the evil Jabba the Hutt. Luke returns to Dagobah to learn key information from the dying Yoda. The rebels attack the Death Star. Luke faces Vader and Palpatine on the Death Star and wins. The Rebel forces triumph with a lot of help from the Ewoks and everything ends happily. Clearly all these events are told well in the book, and it is great fun to relive them on the printed page.
My only problem with the book is that some of Mr. Kahn's writing goes too far. He is trying to get the reader to understand the thought processes of a few of the major characters, but I'm not sure he succeeds. One example - When Leia is following Wicket to the Ewok camp on the forest moon of Endor, she casts her mind adrift for a while. She then ponders the gargantuan trees, the smallness of the Ewoks, her smallness when compared to the trees, and her loneliness and confusion being a part of all that. "She felt like a tiny, creative spark, dancing about in the fires of life...dancing behind a furtive, pudgy, midget bear, who kept beckoning her deeper into the woods." I think some judicious editing could have improved sections of the book. Even so, the book is a must-read, just as the film is a must-see. Don't miss either one of them.
Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03
Yes, Luke, he was your father. That makes the whole sister thing just a little bit on the squicky side, doesn't it?
Anyway, we find out Han Solo is still cool, Darth Vader isn't stupid, the Emperor is ugly, and no Ewoks bleed when they die.
Throw in some space battles and some force cheese at the end.
Brings new depths to the final film in the saga.......2007-06-25
At last in my chronological re-reading of the Star Wars Expanded Universe I come to the end of the films; interestingly, I am only a little more than one-third of the way through the novels! So far my reactions to the movie novelizations have been rather mixed. As far as enhancing the theatrical experience goes, I loved Revenge of the Sith thanks to its bold risk-taking and strong characterization, enjoyed Attack of the Clones and A New Hope, and was not so crazy about The Phantom Menace and The Empire Strikes Back. Happily, the six end on a high note with Return of the Jedi by James Kahn.
Kahn does not add much as far as new scenes or reinstating sequences deleted from the film, although he does throw in a few. Where he shines is in succinctly summarizing a character's thoughts and feelings. He does not spend as much time in the characters' heads as Matthew Stover did in Revenge of the Sith, but his vividly descriptive writing brings many scenes new life and emotion, such as the thawing of Han Solo from his carbonite prison and Vader's final thoughts as he lays dying in a Death Star hangar deck at the end. The Ewoks take considerably more convincing as the Rebels plead for aid in their planned assault on the shield generator than is depicted in the film. Throughout the book, it is these brief but shining flourishes that elevate this novel up above most of the other Star Wars movie novelizations.
Another misstep Kahn avoids in this book is the tendency of the Star Wars movie novelizations to run out of steam in the climax. Several of the others start off at least making a valiant effort at fleshing out details and making small additions to the story, but by the end it's as if the author simply wanted to get the job done. Return of the Jedi is consistent in its pacing and pays the same attention to Jabba's Palace, the middle interludes, and the Battle of Endor as the film does, giving none short shrift.
The novelization of Return of the Jedi is a worthy finale to the Galactic Civil War era. I'm still intrigued by the idea I raised in my review of A New Hope, that of inviting present-day authors to write new novelizations of the original trilogy which can leverage the knowledge unveiled by the prequel films. However, except for a few nitpicks, like Obi-Wan claiming Owen Lars was his brother, this book still fits well with the new films, even if it doesn't explicitly reference them. All in all, a good read, and I'm excited to start in on the New Republic era next!
This book is awesome .......2007-01-18

Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (1983.)
As long as there had been motion pictures, there had been science fiction films. Unfortunately, very few of them ever managed to hit the spot. That was, until 1977 rolled around. It was in this year that George Lucas would change the way we look at science fiction. How would he do this? With the film he released that year - Star Wars. The film was so successful, that two sequels were released! And not surprisingly, they've all been novelized. Read on for my review of Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi.
BASIC PLOT:
A year has passed since the events that took place in The Empire Strikes Back. The Galactic Empire has begun work on a newer, more powerful version of the Death Star, the space station that caused so much trouble for the Rebellion in the first film. After rescuing Han Solo from Jabba's Palace, he, Luke, and Leia reunite with the rest of the Rebel Alliance, and discover that the plans for the new battle station have been taken into their custody, giving them a one-shot chance to destroy the station before it is completed. What they aren't aware of is that the Emperor has allowed the plans to fall into their hands, so that he can launch a surprise attack. While the rest of the Rebel Alliance falls right into the Emperor's trap, Luke goes aboard the new Death Star, so that he may face Darth Vader once again. On the Forest Moon of Endor, below the Death Star, Han, Leia, and the rest of a massive Rebel strike force plot to destroy the shield generator around the battle station. Before long, the Rebellion is involved in its most intense battle yet - a battle that will result in galactic peace if won - or eternal terror if lost.
OPINIONS:
A great story - no questions asked. This is a rare example of a sci-fi tale nearly thirty years old that doesn't seem dated. Even by modern standards, this is still excellent. It's by all means worthy of a high rating in my book.
OVERALL:
The Star Wars stories are science fiction masterpieces that don't fail to stand the test of time. Hell, it's all better than most of the modern sci-fi out there! If you're a fan of the genre, the Star Wars series is not to be missed.

Great Installment.......2007-07-19
Luke has decided its time for Jaina, Jacen, Tenel Ka, and Lowie to be trained with a lightsabre. Jacen and Jaina are a little cautious about taking up taking up a lightsabre after their experiences at Shadow Academy. Tenel Ka staying true to her charactor still prefers to rely on her phyiscal strength instead of the Force and ends up putting together her lightsabre too fast and rather recklessly. During a dueling practice with Jacen it comes back to haunt her and she's seriously injured. Uncertain if she wants to contiune her Jedi lessons Tenel Ka returns home to Hapes. Jacen, Jaina and Lowie go to Hapes to try and cheer her up and there's an assisination attempted on her grandmother. The Jedi must find out who is out to kill her grandmother. Once again another great story. Full of adventure, charactors that well fleshed out and each of them uniquely and wonderful.
Awesome.......2006-05-22
This is definatly my favorite book in the series. Its awesome to see how they build their lightsabers. It also is the most interesting! I loved it!!!!!
Good, but not the best of the series........2006-01-05
This was a good book, but I enjoyed the first three in the series more. I have liked reading this series now instead of when they first came out. I enjoy reading the early stories of the new generation of Jedi Knights. If you can find this book it is worth your time, especially if you enjoyed The New Jedi Order series.
a delight to read........2003-08-10
This was the first book of the Young Jedi Knights series that I read, but it is still my favorite. Once again, Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta have given readers young and old an excellent addition to any star wars collection.
One of the best in the YJK series!.......2003-05-08
This is probably my favorite book in the young jedi knights series.
Luke Skywalker decides that it is time for the Young Jedi Knights to build their lightsabers. he tells them not to rush, but after Tenal Ka finds out Lowbacca is almost done with his, she hurries to build hers.
At a traning practice with Jacen, her faulty lightsaber beam 'disinagrates' and Jacen's cuts her arm off above the elbow. an explosion a moments later destroys her lightsaber and arm.
Not wanting pity from the others Tenal Ka returns to the Hapes Cluster. her friends follow and soon learn about some assassination attempts on her grandmother. the Young Jedi Knights need to figure out who this assassin is, because soon their own lives are in danger.

Five Stars .......2007-07-19
In the Lost Ones Jacen and Jaina return to Courscant and are excited to see Han, Leia, Anakin and their friend Zekk who lives on the streets. Things aren't exactly the same though Zekk sees how much his friends have changed and how they have a future ahead of him and he has nothing. The Dark Jedi Brakiss is also on Courscant to find new recruits for his Shadow Academy including Zekk. Can Jacen and Jaina save Zekk from the Shadow Academy? Once again another great book in the Young Jedi Knights.
Good but missing something........2006-01-04
While I did like this book there was a glaring ommission as far as I am concerned. Years before writing this book or the other Young Jedi Knight books Mr. Anderson wrote three full length novels telling about the formation of the Jedi Academy. However with a threat to the Academy by an army of dark jedi Luke makes on call for help to the older knights. No Kyp Durron, no Kenth Hammer, no Cilgal. The only two are Luke and Tionne. It is one thing to forget other author's work, but not your own. Shame on you Mr. Anderson. I would have given four stars but because of this it only gets three.
Well..........2003-08-11
While I gave the first book a good reveiw, by the time this book rolled around, I realized how silly these books are. I know they're for young adults but still...
While the characters were likeable, I got tired of them using the same phases over & over. Em-TeeDee especially got on my nerves(I've always hated how Star Wars writers have written C-3PO). And these Dark Jedi that are suppose to take over the galaxy, please! They never once resembled a threat. Lightsabers was the best one.
excelenant.......2002-12-23
I love the star wars books series I have read them all. These books got me into the star wars series. And I still read them.
I'm mostly nostalgic.......2002-06-15
I first saw STAR WARS in 1991, I was seven. When this book came out in '96, it was the first Star Wars book I'd ever read, and was the conduit between fan and fanatic. Granted, most of it didn't make a lot of sense as I hadn't read the previous five books in the series yet, but it was still a page-turning read. 'Jedi Under Seige' wraps up the 'Shadow Academy' series of Young Jedi Knights. This series was done as a series of individual events that all tied together in 'Seige'. The second sub-series, 'Diversity Alliance', is one long adventure divided into five major events. A third sub-series, 'The Gallandro Trilogy', is more or less a waste of time. But 'Seige', alone or in context, delivers the goods.
Kavin J. Anderson has probably never had an original idea in his life. He's written numerous Star Wars novels, co-written three Dune novels, at least three X-files books, but only a precious few original stories whose plots seem suspiciously like old episodes of Star Trek. Anderson's wife, Rebecca Moesta, has even fewer credentials. However, Anderson and Moesta both have solid skills at characterizing, plot-development and visualizastion, though sometimes their dialogue falls flat.
Despite all of the down-falls that would seem to make this book a waste of time, it's not. The few hours spanned in the story move faster than real-time with action, emotion, and some genuinely witty dialogue here and there.
