Best Server Book Around.......2007-10-02
This book is extremely valuable as reference after you have read it through carefully. Everything is in "Plain English", so whether you are a novice or advanced in the field, this will answer your questions. This is "a must" for anyone wanting to learn about Windows Server 2003.
Love it.......2007-09-17
Fantastic. Still reading it, but this is a worthy reference guide and a long but interesting read. The only book I'll own on the subject. No need for anything else, as far as I can tell.
Very well written.......2007-08-13
If you're looking for a Windows 2003 book, this is the one. It's comprehensive and well written in a way that caters to newbies and experts alike. As a plus it's printed on high contrast paper in a very readable font.
Great Book on Windows 2003 Server.......2007-04-14

Good things, bad things..........2006-08-31
Good:
-Good coverage of main topics (DHCP, DSN, AD).
-Practical perspective, examples and troubleshooting.
-A lot of information that eventually could be useful.
Bad:
-Fisically the book is too big, difficult to hold, this becomes a problem. It should be divided in two parts, the important topics and the rarely used information.
-Minasi exposition is not clear. He tries so hard to entertain the reader, and his writing lacks structure. He jumps to specific topics that extend many pages, use too many words to express simple things. Sometimes is really exasperating: "come on man, GET TO THE POINT!, don't waste my time".
-Have a lot of typos, i think because is based in the prior edition.
I think the book is too tangled to be useful for begginers, and too disperse to be helpful for experts. No doubt Minasi has profound knowledge of the product and writing skills, but needs STRUCTURE and SOBRIETY.
I rate the book three stars just because knowing nothing i made it settting a windows network with DSN,DHCP,Active directory,VPN and Terminal services. The book contains the information but the reader, not the author, is who organize it.

Classroom overview.......2007-08-23
This text has several positives. It discusses how to plan, deliver, and assess a lesson. It incorporates issues such as multiple intelligences, emotional issues, cultural issues and so on. It gives the upcoming teacher a lot to mull over.
Another huge bonus is that the book is linked to the publisher's web site with videos from real classrooms and real teachers. You can actually see and hear the ideas in action. For me, that made a huge difference.
The down side that I found with this book is that the authors sometimes got lost in the details. What I mean by that is sometimes it was hard to understand how all the ideas, theories and processes were supposed to work together. I lost the big picture at times. The videos did help greatly with sorting that out though. However, there were places where I never felt like I totally got the big pictue. I would have liked to have more video clips.
Learned a lot from this book.
Clear and well organized.......2006-07-14
I purchased this book to use in a course on Learning Theory and Instructional Design and have found it to be perfect for my needs. Each chapter is well organized and provides an extensive bibliography with internet as well as print resources. The authors use charts and graphs to identify specific important concepts and provide reflective questions that can help the user organize their own knowledge base with the material presented. Good overall text covering planning and executing instruction.
Terrible.......2006-07-14
I was assigned this book for a teaching certification course and I have never seen a worse textbook in my life. It's full of long lists of terms that are never explained. The visuals are confusing. It's incredibly wordy. I think the same information could easily be condensed down to a short pamplett if they just took out all of the redundancy.

interesting information.......2007-08-25
This book was a pretty interesting read. However, I didn't try the techniques because everything it does pretty much is a bipass to what faith can do. Some people have it and some don't. But I had no problems with the delivery of the product or anything.
It works most of the time........2007-08-06
This is a great book. I have found that the tapping technique is very effective with at least 90% of the people I have worked with. It will not work, however, on very negative people who are convinced they cannot be helped, those who are died in the wool skeptics who are determined to prove you wrong, people who are clinging to their illness because they are afraid of losing their disability pension or because their illness brings them sympathy and attention from their family and friends. Usually you can identify these people ahead of time and avoid working with them. There are cases where the reason for their illness is a spiritual possession. This will involve finding someone who knows how to work with that problem.
Tapping the Healer Within is AMAZING!.......2007-07-17
This was the most amazing and helpful book I have ever read! I was so excited after the first time I used the proceedures correctly and it worked, that I had to do an anxiety treatment on myself so I could sleep. I couldn't stop my mind from thinking of the incredible possibilities of healing this therapy presented. I bought five more books for friends and family and will soon place another order. Do yourself a favor and order 10 the first time! I have successfully used the treatment to heal my seven year old of a terrible migraine. I also healed my daughter (12) of a severe needle phobia. I used it to heal another 12 year old of being in basements (where she sleeps). I treated another for deep emotional issues that were preventing him from focusing at work. I look forward to using this therapy more and learning more about it. I am presently reading the Amazon.com suggested book called "Evolving Thought Field Therapy" (Diepold...). It is equally amazing and takes this therapy one step further. It also doesn't require tapping, just touching. It is very detailed and included diagnostic instruction with charts. I highly recommend both books. If this one doesn't work for you, read the Evolving book to understand what more you can do to get this therapy to work for you. It REALLY WORKS! I think I have found my future vocation. I hope to train in this field now. Andrea
Kay's Positive Review of Tapping the Healer Within.......2007-02-15
A friend had me read a page of this book. It so interested me that I checked it out of the library, read it, was highly intrigued by it and purchased four copies--one for myself, two for my adult children and one for the friend who first introduced the book to me.
"Tapping the Healer Within" is about removing "perterbations" by usuing thought field therapy (tft) and thus attaining serenity whereas before there was fear, anxieties, phobias, etc.
Currently I am using the techniques described in the book and have met with unusual success in the elimination of stress in connection with the recent death of my mother.
The author, Roger J. Callahan, Ph.D (for many years--20+) has written the book well, with plenty of success stories. He has ended the book with address contacts, etc. There are additional aids available for purchase and they are listed at the end of the book.
After talking with Dr. Callahan personally on the phone and working further with him, I have purchased three additional copies of the book and have given them to friends in hopes of helping them with the stresses of their lives. I highly recommend "Tapping the Healer Within".
Excellent resource book on the basics only.......2006-11-10
This book is excellent for the person who wants to understand the basics and is also a very good resource book. Once on the path of tapping, one goes on to other more elaborate formulaic books. Loved it for what it is.

The best option..........2007-07-30
I feel that this is the best currently available option for ObGyn clerkship. Easy read and sufficient for passing mock boards - good luck!
Rock the Shelf with this book.......2007-05-20
Unless you have a huge interest in OB/GYN this is all you need to know to rock the shelf and do well on the wards. The questions in the back are exactly the same format and content as on the shelf.
all inclusive........2007-05-13
The book has almost all aspects of OB/GYN rotation. It is an easy read, straight forward. It's great for OB?GYN rotations.
The BEST of Blueprints.......2007-03-29
This book is by FAR the best of the Blueprints series. Steps 1 and 2 are rich in OB content, and this book has it all in a very logical and simple layout.
A must have for the OB/GYN wards.
Blueprints Obstetrics and Gynecology Fourth Edition (Blueprints Series).......2007-03-18
Everyone recommended this book to me for OB/GYN clerkship but I also bought Current (Lang). I felt that this book did not give me good enough explanations on physiology, etc. When I got pimped by my attending--Current helped me a lot more. It does have some good pictures and covers the basics...it all depends on if you want to be an "average" student vs. an "excellent" student.
Book Description
Clarke Snell and Timothy L. Callahan, whose popular Good House Book helped environmentally-minded readers create an earth-friendly home, have returned with a photo-packed, amazingly complete, start-to-finish guide to "green" housebuilding.
This absolutely groundbreaking manual doesn't just talk about eco-friendly building techniques, but actually shows every step! More than 1,200 close-up photographs, along with in-depth descriptions, follow the real construction of an alternative house from site selection to the addition of final-touch interior details. Co-authors Clarke Snell and Timothy Callahan (a professional builder and contractor) provide thorough discussions of the fundamental concepts of construction, substitutes for conventional approaches, and planning a home that's not only comfortable and beautiful, but environmentally responsible. Then, they roll up their sleeves and get to work assembling a guest house that incorporates four different alternative building methods: straw bale, cob, cordwood, and modified stick frame. The images show every move: how the site is cleared, the basic structure put together, the cob wall sculpted, the bales and cordwood stacked, a living roof created, and more. Most important, the manual conveys real-world challenges and processes, and offers dozens of sidebars with invaluable advice. It's head and shoulders above all others in the field.

great service.......2007-09-05
recieved product within one week great book thinking about building using all natural products
Building Green.......2007-02-12
This is an excellent book that is easy to read and actual tells you step by step with over a 1000 beautiful photos how to build your own "Green" building. I am an inexperienced owner-builder and after reading this book I feel that each step of the process was described so clearly that I can use it as a guide for building my own house. None of the other books I've read on the subject have provided this level of clarity or detail - all in an upbeat, easy to read and sometimes humourous style.
The first part of the book does a good survey of the differnet types of materials used in green building and the considerations of siting and design as well. The second part covers actually building the house and what to do or to avoid in the process.
Great Book...not for northwestern climates.......2007-02-07
This is a VERY informative and educational book. I LOVED it, however, I live in a wet climate in Northwestern Canada and the methods used in this book are not condusive to this area.
Excellent and Comprehensive Intro and Education........2006-04-29
I have been looking for a book that would educate me on exactly what green building is, whether it is actually practical and what it would take to achieve it. This book answered all those questions. I think it has filled a void in the information market. So many people are not satisfied with current building practices especially in the US yet finding one comprehensive source for reliable answers is extremely difficult. There is lots of experience bound up in the very well-written, easy flowing text. The mass of photos is extremely instructive and attractive. This book is not clouds-in-the-sky, blindly pro-environment babble. Neither is it full of the marketing lies that exploit the "green" movement. It is useful for normal people who are interesting in trying to build earth-friendly but practical, efficient and affordable homes. The writers are very honest in their educated opinions and recommendations. And they actually built a small green building in order to write this book. So you get the useful, hands-on advice that they learned themselves the hard way even with their past, extensive building experience in the US. I appreciate their effort and book very much, and can't recommend it highly enough as one every non-expert should read if they have a possible interest in green building in the future or even in just building a marginally more efficient home.
Nicely presented intoduction to several green techniques.......2006-02-27
A very nicely presented 'survey' of several green building techniques with a practical and mainstream perspective. Less inspiring and holistic (in terms of presenting an overall philosophy of building AND living) than the likes of The Hand-Sculpted House (Evans, Smiley and Smith), etc. but the beautiful photography and clear writing is a powerful tool to use in convincing the skeptical that green building is a legitimate and aesthetically pleasing option in construction. Really more of a 'complete introduction' than a 'complete how-to guide' in my estimation- if you are really going to build you'll need to suppliment your knowledge with additional in depth books on the particular system(s) you choose to use, but this book will expose you to some of the options and provide you with an informational foundation to 'build' on (pun intended).
Customer Reviews:
Light, casual reading that's very informative........2007-03-26
The next time the kid doesn't want to take a bath, remember back to this book. Dr. Callahan says that our bodies are filled with thousands of different kinds of bacteria, parasites, fungi, and viruses and they are indeed responsible for keeping us alive. We are rather like a colony, of which those cells we call human are ten percent or less of the total.
His conclusion is that we are living too clean a life, our bodies were designed to live in close quarter with animals, dirt, and not bathing too often. He also talks about the overuse of antibotics that are creating new antibiotic resistant strains and basically wiping out the effectiveness of the antibiotics we have (especially in hospitals).
This is a light, easy read book that in turn leaves us with a lot of information about what's happening to our own bodies and to the medical world in general.
Book Description
In a time “when men played football for something less than a living and something more than money,” John Unitas was the ultimate quarterback. Rejected by Notre Dame, discarded by the Pittsburgh Steelers, he started on a Pennsylvania sandlot making six dollars a game and ended as the most commanding presence in the National Football League, calling the critical plays and completing the crucial passes at the moment his sport came of age.
Johnny U is the first authoritative biography of Unitas, based on hundreds of hours of interviews with teammates and opponents, coaches, family and friends. The depth of Tom Callahan’s research allows him to present something more than a biography, something approaching an oral history of a bygone sporting era. It was a time when players were paid a pittance and superstars painted houses and tiled floors in the off-season—when ex-soldiers and marines like Gino Marchetti, Art Donovan, and “Big Daddy” Lipscomb fell in behind a special field general in Baltimore. Few took more punishment than Unitas. His refusal to leave the field, even when savagely bloodied by opposing linemen, won his teammates’ respect. His insistence on taking the blame for others’ mistakes inspired their love. His encyclopedic football mind, in which he’d filed every play the Colts had ever run, was a wonder.
In the seminal championship game of 1958, when Unitas led the Colts over the Giants in the NFL’s first sudden-death overtime, Sundays changed. John didn’t. As one teammate said, “It was one of the best things about him.”
Customer Reviews:
The Greatest Writings of The Greatest Of All Time.......2007-10-10
This biography may be the greatest football book ever written. Tom Callahan used all of his sources to perfection in this masterpiece. With quotes and side stories from Johnny's teammates and friends, Callahan puts everything in its timeline place thus marking Johhny U, The Life & Times of John Unitas in stone as one of the greatest football books of all time.
If you like football books, or even books period, Johhny U is an amazing biography you must check out.
An entertaining look at not only a legend, but a fabled team........2007-09-24
Tom Callahan does the job nicely by almost invariably (and most appropriately) viewing Johnny U. from the context of his team.
I found a mistake concerning Tom Matte and have contacted the author with regards.
Otherwise, I found the book to be quite informative, trustworthy and entertaining.
Good, but just a little disappointed.......2007-09-21
I was a little disappointed because the book veers in subject away from Unitas - the person I wanted to read about. The author explains that the readers must understand the characters of Unitas' time in the NFL as a way of understanding Unitas, whom nobody really knew well, according to Unitas himself.
There are some great anecdotal stories, and things like the 1958 NFL championship game and Super Bowl III game between the Colts and Jets are covered well.
The re-telling of Unitas' life and football career reveal a character who was tough as nails, in addition to being a super talented passer and ad-libbing field general who called many of his own plays.
The author goes to a wealth of sources to paint a word portrait of this legendary quarterback, and he does a good job. Things unravel a bit in the chapters about his divorce and death, but anybody who was fascinated with No. 19's legacy will enjoy cruising through this book.
Some Breathtaking Plays With A Lot Of TV Time Outs.......2007-09-05
Johnny Unitas is the epitome of the marriage between the great athlete and a particular city. Like Elway in Denver, Favre in Green Bay, Kelly in Buffalo, it is inconceivable to think of Unitas as anything but a Baltimore Colt; that he played his last season in San Diego seems like a desecration that we have all collectively suppressed. Author Tom Callahan attempts to take the reader into the world of Unitas; however, he understood that the enmeshment of the quarterback with his team and his city would pose considerable literary challenges, each facet possessing enough color and intrigue worthy of its own book. Thus the phrase "Life and Times..." has been inserted as a kind of preemptive absolution for long detours with the irrepressible Art Donovan, among others.
This is a work to be enjoyed, but it is not particularly critical. Unitas was born of coal, as they said then, in 1933 and raised in Pittsburgh, not Baltimore. He was a gritty and determined young man, not a particularly interested student, who fortunately fell under the tutelage of Max Carey at St. Justin's High School. Carey helped Unitas to augment his raw physical talents with a cerebral approach, and then worked above and beyond the call to help his graduating senior take his game to the college ranks. Unitas, like many men before and since, dreamed of playing for Notre Dame, and he actually did participate in a tryout at South Bend in 1950. The Irish liked his grit but not his 137 lb. frame. Eventually Unitas received a scholarship to play for the Louisville Cardinals under another cerebral coach, Frank Camp. Unitas's first game at starter came in 1951 against St. Bonaventure and its own notable quarterback, Ted Marchibroda.
Unitas and Marchibroda would both return to St. Bonaventure in 1955, but this time as struggling young professional quarterbacks for a very bad Pittsburgh Steelers squad. In the strange workings of Providence, Unitas was cut by the Steelers and played most of the 1955 season for a Pittsburgh semi-pro team to augment his day job salary as a high-rise construction worker. How the future Hall of Fame quarterback came to the Colts is a bit of a mystery. Baltimore's team in 1955 was not good, and regular tryouts were conducted for walk-on free agents. Unitas may have been induced to audition by Weeb Ewbank, though the author hints that the Rooneys of Pittsburgh and several reliable scouts and associates had talked him up around the Baltimore front office.
Unitas made the 1956 Colts squad and developed a particular appreciation for a young receiver, Raymond Berry, who shared the quarterback's appetite for precision and cerebral dexterity. Expecting to spend months, if not years in limbo behind Colt starter George Shaw, Unitas was pressed into action in game five--Shaw's right knee demolished under a pile of Chicago Bears. His first pass resulted in a touchdown--by Chicago cornerback J.C. Caroline. Over the season Unitas steadied himself, and while the team finished 5-7, Number 19 had broken passing records for a rookie signal caller.
The chronology of Unitas's career takes some interesting detours in this work. In truth, the reader gets a look at the Colts through the eyes of Art Donovan, an ex-marine and defensive lineman whose reminisces appear time and time again, and would continue to do so over the next four decades on film, TV, and eventually in his own book, "Fatso." Compared to the taciturn Unitas, Donovan has plenty to say about everything, including the hallmark 1958 Championship Game, which merits its own chapter here. Another figure who dominates the scene is Weeb Ewbank, Unitas's first coach in the pros. Callahan's treatment of Ewbank is peculiar; one wonders if the Colts won in spite of their coach, whose Casey Stengel -style game management often had Unitas in laughter on the field.
Unitas, as is well known, would become Baltimore's favorite son and the benchmark of great quarterbacks of any age. But in this work the halleluiah moment is 1958, and Unitas's subsequent seasons--14 in Baltimore--are squeezed together in between biographies of other Colt greats and eccentrics. What is lost is the rest of the NFL against whom Unitas played, and particularly the two coaches who for better or worse shaped much of his playing conditions. Despite Unitas's heroics, the decade of the 1960's is remembered as the age of Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers, who dominated the game during much of Unitas's career and who would win the first two Superbowls in convincing fashion.
Ironically Unitas's curse would be Superbowl III in 1969 where he and the Colts, in their first appearance in the new title game as 17 point favorites, were throttled by Weeb Ewbank's New York Jets and the new glamour quarterback of the day, Joe Namath. Much of course has been written about Colt strategy in this game, notably whether Unitas should have started in place of the workman Earl Morrall, which brings us around to the other instrumental coach.
Even though he intended this biography as a eulogy of joy, Callahan does not back away from the hard truth that for much of his career Unitas played for a coach he despised, Don Shula. "John hated him with a passion," Jimmy Orr recalled. [200] Shula, another source, countered in the book that the main problem between them was an identical competitive nature. But other players quoted by the author expressed similar sentiment for the Shula style and the coach's treatment of his quarterback. Unitas would finally win the Colts a Superbowl, this for the AFL, ironically, under a new coach nicknamed "Easy Rider." Regrettably, John did not retire then and there, but undertook an embarrassing final campaign with an out of control San Diego team. Callahan rounds out his biography by balancing Unitas's personal sufferings and crosses after retirement with the regards of former teammates, competitors, and football fans everywhere--particularly in Baltimore.
The Greatest Field General of All Time.......2007-07-30
When "The Greatest Game Ever Played" was televised in 1958, between Chistmas and New Years, I was just 12 years old. My parents were celebrating the holidays with friends while I was at an Abbott & Costello flick (That's another story!). When my Dad picked me up on that raw December afternoon, he told that the Colts had won the world championship. I thought there was only one world championship, the World Series, having only watched one game of football the year before. So began a love affair.
Enough of me. This book not only takes one back to those wonderful years that presaged the onset of America's love of professional football, but it puts into perspective the man who was probably the true architect of the love affair. Johnny U was the last great quarterback who, not only called his own plays, but also was able to call the Colts his team.
Also, as suggested by its subtitle, The life and Timmes of John Unitas, the story is also about both his team mates and his opponents. Rife with verbal memoirs from many NFL players, many enshrined in Canton, Ohio, none is more poignant or memorable than the interview with the Hall of Fame guard, Jim Parker.
For anyone who remembers the era, or anyone who loves the game, Johnny U will make you think; you will look back; you will probably tear up just a little when you read Ramond Berry's eulogy for the greatest quarterback ever to play the game.

Giving and Stewardship.......2005-07-10
I found this book to have just the information I was seeking. I serve on our church's Fundraising Task Force. We needed information that made sense and guided us through the minefield of improving stewardship and giving to support the day-to-day activities in our church. I have used other Callahan books and found this one to be very useful in our work. It refocused our efforts toward taking care of our givers to improve our giving and stewardship. Great book that is very easy to read, understand, which makes our task of fundraising more congregation and community based.
A very personal perspective on stewardship.......2002-05-16
The book looked a bit simplistic at first-- short, straight-forward outline... I thought I'd probably read through, mark if off the list of things I've been referred to read, then never look at the book again.
What a surprise!
Callahan walks you through several principles about giving-- and how these principles, when enacted, help reach the potential God places in each follower of Christ through His Spirit. He speaks of people wanting to give to winning causes, and how the fact that we speak the vision in a positive (or needy) way changes people's perspective and willingness to give. He speaks of "the ask" and of other great concepts, many of which have much to do with leadership in other areas besides the finances of the Church.
I'm impressed by the practicality of this work, as well. And, of how Callahan offers useable space in the actual text for you to jot your ideas, thoughts, and how you might implement some of these principles.
Also, if you've ever wondered if "special offerings" willl detract from "general funds" (i.e. "Will people give to this and forget about that...?"), KC addresses that, in depth, as well.
A great book. You can read it in a few hours, but it will take much longer to digest-- even though it can be implemented immediately!
Excellent book.......2002-01-14
An excellent book that outlines seven principles of stewardship, such as the importance of linking mission to giving and that people live into the expectations that are set for them. The book has information useful in diagnosing a parish and includes a lot of practical advice. A must-have for those interested in Christian Stewardship.
Great Tips for Building Stewardship.......2000-06-27
I appreciate Callahan's practical tips on training, teamwork, and positive expectations. His emphasis on vision and mission, rather than meeting the budget, is at the heart of understanding giving. If your church wants to know how to grow stewardship responsivness this is the book for you.
Straight Talk on Stewardship.......2000-05-06
Far too often, "stewardship" in church parlance means "money". In this book, Kennon Callahan explains in simple terms that individual generosity comes from inspired corporate stewardship. Churches with compelling missions of social action engage their members' hearts, and their pocketbooks follow. Callahan's book reminds sincere church members that stewardship isn't a financial decision but a spiritual decision. All priests, pastors and lay leader who want their parishes to grow should read this book.

This book is a great asset especially for guys who are trying to learn how to cook and eat in a healthy way. The recipes are specific...how long to sear scallops. I endorse the berries and ginger sauce (P 75)..great with vanilla yogurt. The Mescun Salad with blood oranges is great as is the pea soup (P 129). And I am just getting started. This is the way the U.S. needs to learn to eat.....for health and quality of life! The pictures are also very helpful to guys to visualize "presentation". It's a no brainer when you can copy a picture. Thanks Mayo Clinic...you are helping transform a culture.
Excellent Addition to The Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight for Everybody .......2007-04-22
The recipies in this cookbook are such a wonderful addition to our healthy eating plan. I really enjoy the photos, which makes it a lot easier to visualize what it's SUPPOSED to look like! A few people posted that they have a hard time finding the ingredients. If you ask at your local markets, they'll point you to the good stuff. I shop at Trader Joes & Winco and can find everyting at one or the other. If you prefer simple fare, the "Healthy Weight" book has daily menus that are so simple. I use this book probably once or twice a week for special weekend meals or company dinners.

Excellent Cookbook with Healthy, Easy, Delicious Recipes.......2006-05-23
I was somewhat skeptical when I bought this cookbook as I'd had a hard time finding a cookbook with recipes that were both heathy AND tasted good, and didn't require 100 obscure ingredients and two hours of my life to prepare. But this book surpassed all my expectations, and even though I've had it about six months now, I'm still using it several times a week. The dishes are interesting and generally pretty quick to prepare, and most of them taste so good you wouldn't guess how healthy they are. Even my boyfriend (who is a pizza, beer, and EasyCheese kind of guy) likes these dishes, so apparently they are so good they appeal to even the most unhealthy eaters. Two thumbs up!
