Customer Reviews:
Another great book by Robert T. Kiyosaki. .......2007-07-30
I found this more helpful than some of his other more recent books. It's not just a reiteration of his old information. It goes over some key points of his first book but hits on many things and mistakes he went through in his many businesses. He then applies the things he has learned and puts them in this book in ways which anyone can understand. There are some insightful tips from Sharon Lecter in here too.
A little too familiar.......2007-07-25
My cousin gave me this book on cd as a gift in preparation for my departure from the working world to full blown self employment. Despite what I thought were veiled messages from my cousin, I eagerly listened to this book. I'm not a big fan of books on cd because I have a hard time concentrating while just listening to them, but as soon as I put "Before You Quit Your Job" in I began thinking that I've read/heard this before. I've read Rich Dad, Poor Dad (and liked it) and I couldn't help but think that this book sounds an awful lot like it. I haven't really compared the "text" of the two since I've only listened to this book in the car, but I swear many, if not most, of the information and stories are repackaged from Rich Dad and possibly the other books in the series based on what others here have had to say about it. I don't feel as if I gained anything new from reading this book and I'm reluctant to read any of the others in the series after this. So, if you've never read any of the other books this might be worthwhile. If you have read the others, well, I don't know...this may be terribly redundant.
Good Book.......2007-07-02
This book provides a sound overview of the fundamental infrastructure that must be present for a business to be successful. As always, Mr Kiyosaki has done a good job explaining the basics of good business acumen in laymen's terms. He also explains some of the mistakes that he made during his career as a business owner to help readers understand some of the common pitfalls that can occur in running and building a business.
Great resource for small business owners!.......2007-05-09
This book was exactly what my small business needed. He lays out not only what is necessary to take it to the next level, but the potential pitfalls the authors have encountered. I'd highly recommend it for any small (or large) business owner.
A Must Read.......2007-04-01
Anyone who is serious about starting a business but have doubts should definitely read this book. Robert Kiyosaki walks you through the entire process of building a business from top to bottom. He gives you real life stories, successes and failures. I definitely recommend this book.

Product Description
Becoming a millionaire in 365 days (if you are very busy doing whatever you are doing, then give yourself another week or two), is exactly what it says, a step by step guide to becoming at least a millionaire, or multi-millionaire, emphasis added, during a one year period !!!!! The details in this book do not, and will not, describe any real estate flipping program, buying foreclosed properties, making money on the internet by selling the junk out of your garage, mail order sales, making stuff at home and selling it for big money, multi-level selling programs where you sign up thousands of people to sell cleaners and detergents or my personal (just kidding ) favorite, ads claiming that by stuffing 500 envelopes a day, you can make big money working from your kitchen table. I can help describe for you the real estate get rich quick schemes, and they can work are simply this; buy a house cheap, the worst shape in the best neighborhood possible, then spend as little money as possible fixing it up, and then sell it for as much as you can, hopefully for a profit. You can also do that in your spare time if you wish. That program, making $10,000 here and there after months of work is not going to make you a millionaire fast.

Interesting read with valuable information!.......2007-04-14
I am so happy I purchased this book for my husband...it is a step by step explanation of how to buy the business he currently works for! :)
Wow, it is much easier than we ever thought possible!! We were not aware of these options and are overjoyed to learn!!
It's very easy to read and follow the day by day instructions. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to make money being their own boss...and owner of the company!! :)
Millionaire in 365 Days.......2007-04-04
This is the definitive every man's guide to acquiring the business you work for, or that of a competitor or client. The step by step methods can be used to acquire any business, preferably a larger one, which then can be acquired with a group of employees. WOW, Double WOW.
You can acquire the restaurant you work for or a $100 million revenue division of a company you now work for..it is all the same process.
No special knowledge is required since this is a step by step guide to the process. Become a millionaire NOW...buy the business you work for...I am going forward with the process.
The book allows access to a web site, for all the basics, but you must register, and you can actually access direct contact with the author and associates, for a special fee ,at your option.
I signed up for the three month plan...which was the best value...You get a video, a personalized copy of the hardback, and a daily diary as well, in addition to the direct contact to assist in your process.
The author has some great stories about the acquisition process, and the simplicity makes you realize that all those takeover stories are really possible for "everyone" when they understand the process.
WOW, what a way to become a successful business owner, who would have thought that the business you work for can be bought with these easy techniques, in which the author and his associates also offers to help with directly !
This book should sell for $9,950 !!!! It's worth it.
No complicated formulas, no special magical talents or education requirement. Really a great read.....my wife wants me to do it so that she is the wife of a multi-millionaire.
I really recommend this book...I have purchased additional books to give to the other senior management as we try to acquire our employer's business.
I intend on doing this over and over every year.....

Tired of working? Sick of the Rat Race? Feel like leaving it all behind? Your are one step closer just by picking up this book. Quit Your Job And Move To Key West is your complete guide on how to do it by people who have made it happen.
Customer Reviews:
quit your job and move to key west.......2007-03-26
Great information and very funny commentary. I now want to move there more than ever.
When in Key West.............2006-08-26
This how-to, where-to, what-to, guide to Key West, FL is deceptively short yet comprehensive. Far from being your typical boring travel guide, there's alot of tongue-in-cheek humor in these pages about the place. It's more like a travel guide on LSD. There's a month by month section giving the best times to visit and what to expect in terms of traffic etc etc. From the best spots to drink & eat (notice I listed drink 1st) and "must sees" to insider type secrets about parking and transportation known only by locals it packs quite a bit of helpful info into its 100+ pages. If you're planning on visiting Key West or as the authors jokingly suggest throughout --- quitting your job and moving there, be sure to give this unique and entertaining book a read first!
Beware...don't overpay.......2006-04-25
This review is for the price I paid for this book, not the content. Boy howdy, do I have egg on my face. After paying $20 for this, I was a little miffed when the price on the back was $9.95. I thought this would be a full fledged book, not a glorified pamphlet one might find in a hotel gift shop next to the 'one taquila, two taquila, three taquila, floor!' shot glasses. It's about as thick as a microwave instruction manual, a really complicated microwave I should add. Anyway, I'm sure it's a delight to read. I wish I wouldn't have actually quit my job and gassed up the jeep until this little gem arrived. Oh well, chalk that up to yet another mistake I've made recently...right next to not realizing "Donna" used to be "Don" but that's a whole different story that my counselor and I are working through for $100 an hour.
Great fun and good advice!.......2004-04-22
A thoroughly enjoyable book to read, full of great "locals" tips, hilarious tidbits, and even a few really smart tips for those of us actually trying to quit our jobs and move to Key West! If you've ever dreamed of leaving the snow and cubicles behind, this might even help light a fire under you. It sure did for me!
A good beach read..........2004-02-12
But not what I would call a complete guide on how to give it all up and move to "paradise". Don't get me wrong there are some helpful hints in here, and it is a humourous read, but if you've been to Key West any number of times, you probably know everything included. It is at least worth the price to buy the book and leave it lying on your desk for everyone to see!
Customer Reviews:
Good book but people should put their thinking caps on...........2007-02-09
His book is very informative but a fair amount of work in involved. Many people don't understand all that is involved in getting grants. So for many of them the books are not as useful as they should be. People need positive and realistic approaches with LOTS of elbow grease. With this mindframe they can profit for his book. Two good books are "Grants for Dummies" and "Government Funding and You". Both books are realistic and they can help anyone get registered and start seeking grants SERIOUSLY.

Only a few programs will apply to your state and city..........2005-05-08
I bought an earlier edition of his books called "government giveaways" and learned the following the hard way.
Since he published new ones, I kept my mind open to what was new and I found out that I have this book in my local book store. I cracked it open and skimmed it.
Lesko makes it seem from the advertising that all of these grant and loan programs are for everyone-this isn't the case. When you eliminate 49 other states and every city other city that you don't live in in your state, the book becomes very, very short. There are federal programs that do apply, but there isn't a lot.
Go to your local book store to take a peek at it. You will learn that only a few things will likely apply to what you're interested in, and it isn't likely going to be worth the price of the book.
I would however recommend to Lesko that he gets team of researcher's and writers covering programs in MORE detail for each state. Having a more local edition of his books with all the existing state government and city govenment programs would be much more informative.
For example since I am interested in business financing, there is something called an SBA 7a loan. It would seem from the book that anyone can get it. But from the book you wouldn't know the following requirements:
1) You must be able to guarantee a portion of the loan yourself, with your real estate or other businesses. If you can't do this you don't qualify.
2) If you are an existing business, Your tax returns for the previous few years must have proof of cashflow. They won't guarantee a loan for business that doesn't show profit. SO DON't CHEAT ON YOUR TAXES!
3) Loan expenditures are only for tangible expenses, you can't pay rent, or people with the loan money.
4) If you are a new business, you must have Significant experience in the industry you plan on doing your business in.
Now why couldn't he just say that in his books!?!? It's because the book is written with a shotgun approach and isn't too detailed.
Good luck and happy free money hunting!

Customer Reviews:
The Business of Writing........2006-12-05
Quit Your Day Job is inspiring. I couldn't put it down.
Is it the topic or the writer?.......2005-05-17
This books earns the four stars by being interesting and helpful. It's well-written (naturally!) and puts what could be very dry business information into a format that creative types will be able to stomach.
My biggest problem, the reason I can't give 5-stars, may not be the authors fault really. The title and the synopsis lead you to believe this book is going to provide practical, how-to information about becoming a writer that makes enough money writing. The reality is laid out quite early on in the book. The first step, the unescapable step, is poverty. And not just any poverty, but poverty that you buy in to with a small fortune. His map to success starts with saving up an entire year's worth of your current salary (!!!), then living like a pauper for 1 to 2 years. During that time, you may not receive enough correct feedback to discover if your books are not selling because you are a bad writer, or simply haven't sold YET.
Now granted, this could be the reality. Perhaps he is just telling it like it is. But really, does such a dire starting point merit such an upbeat title? How to quit your day job boils down to saving up enough money to pay your own salary to yourself for an entire year. Nice work if you can get it, but I don't know many people that can store up a years salary in any reasonable amount of time. Can you?
Practical, Usable Help for Any Writer.......2005-03-02
Based on his 20-plus years experience as a writer who has supported himself and his family writing books from his home office, Jim Denney offers us, in his own words, "a combination of encouragement and motivation on the one hand and a bucket of cold water in the face (reality) on the other." In page after well-written page, he presents the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about this often mysterious, unseen realm that connects writer to reader.
The author of more than 60 books, many of which have been collaborative efforts, Denney lets us in on the secrets of pleasing publishers, working with other creative minds, contract negotiation and more.
Wondering if you need an agent? Denney gives you the tools to make an informed choice.
Need guidelines for structuring your writing day? Turn to chapter 5, "the Seven Essential Habits of a Working Writer," and you'll know just what to do next.
If your "real job" gets in the way of your dream to write for a living, you'll learn how to make the transition in "Taking the Leap."
When writing is your passion, your gift and your calling, it's good to know you aren't alone. If you identify with the kid Denney describes in "A Holy Calling," as I did, you'll benefit from the fellowship of his final chapter, "Soul Survival." Whether your personal demons are named Finances, Deadlines, Self-doubt or Rejection, he'll teach you how to knock each one of them down and press on toward the mark of excellence in writing.
Mixed bag.......2005-02-25
Quit Your Day Job! was a mixed bag of helpful insight and bland anecdotes. On one hand, he does give some helpful insights into the business aspect of writing, mainly how hard it is, and it's obvious that the "quit your day job" of the title means that you need to quit your day job to fully focus on being a writer. Denney tells you different functions of people in the writing-business world, but it wasn't anything I couldn't look up on the internet and find within five minutes.
On the other hand, Denney, like most writers that write a book about writing, gives vague and useless tips to actually getting published. He basically says, "You could do this, or you could do this. Both of them work for some people." Also, a third of the book is just anecdotes he quoted from other writers. I finished the book wanting more.
Sometimes Denney goes too far on the business tangent and makes writing feel like a cold, sterile occupation. He goes so far that he suggests that, to get the most for the money you're getting paid, don't write long words, like using big instead of gigantic. And he's dead serious.
Also, don't buy this book if you're trying to learn how to write. This is definitely about the business of writing. I would recommend Immediate Fiction, by Jerry Cleaver. Not only does it tell you how to write, it has a chapter at the end of the book about how to go about publishing your book. That one chapter was more helpful than this book.
For anyone considering any full time writing career.......2004-03-05
Quit Your Day Job! by Jim Denney is a no-nonsense instructional guide which is strongly recommended reading for anyone seeking to pursue writing as a full-fledged, moneymaking, professional career. From the seven essential habits of a working writer (such as "write daily" and "set ambitious but achievable goals"); to the do's and don'ts of submitting one's work; professional relationships in the writing biz; learning how to write as quickly as possible without undercutting quality; and more, Quit Your Day Job! is a superbly presented, quite accessible and thoroughly "user friendly", reference resource for anyone considering any full time writing career.

Good for encouraging you, not big on techniques........2002-11-09
Lots of common sense stuff. However, if a refresher and "coach" would be helpful to you, then this is a solid book to read.
It really works!.......2000-02-03
"Quit Your Job..." is more than a how-to book, it's Miller's autobiography! Very easy and fast to read. I purchased the book in June 1999. Then got a NEW job in July 1999, leaving a job I'd held for nearly 6 years. Now in Feb 2000, I have ANOTHER NEW job! The first new job provided me with a 12.5% increase. This second new job is giving me a 33% increase over the previous job. When combining the increases from my two most recent jobs, I am now making 50% more than I was making at the old job I left only 7 months ago! Miller's advice works. I have watched friends change jobs frequently, and each time they gain substantial increases. Even if you do not change jobs, the book can help to give you a healthier perspective on WHY we hold down a job in the first place. My NEW MOTTO is this: "Work is a business partnership, not a lifetime marriage. I give my current employer 110% of my efforts. I am very hardworking and dedicated...while I'm there. Yet, my first loyalty is to myself and my family. I will always have one eye open for opportunities that will better my life educationally, professionally, and financially." And that really makes good sense if you think about your physical and spiritual health and well-being. Thank you, Mr. Miller!
I don't know about the "dissing," but I like this book!.......1999-10-09
What's up with John from New York? Did he read the book? I thought this was a place to give a book review? Anyway, I did read the book. I really liked the part about NOT sending a resume but instead sending a job proposal. IT WORKED. I did what the author said and I got a great new job!
Unbelievable Shill Reviews.......1999-10-01
I agree with the lady who posted a similar comment, and who was "dissed" by the next reviewer, who was obviously in the same publisher's camp as the other "reviewers". It is so very easy to distinguish the phoney reviews from the real. Amazon, please do something.
I wish I had read it years ago!.......1999-09-28
I can now see why Japan's economy went in the tank! The person from that fine country who wrote the previous review must still be stuck in the "old school", which obviously isn't working for them! I loved this little book. I only wish I had read it years ago. Instead of buying the Corporate BS I continued to buy these last few years, I could be well ahead of the game. Both my neighbor and my wife also read the book and they too loved it!
