Lots of ideas.......2007-09-18
This is basically a compilation of the wizdom and ideas of many of the great PUA's. A must have for the comunity.
A Must Have!.......2007-08-25
This book is a must have for every man who wants to have success with beautiful women. Another new bestseller which I highly recommend - The Exclusive Layguide: When Dating and Having Sex with Incredibly Hot Women is No Longer Mirage Even If You Don't Look Like a Model or Don't Make a Fortune
Amazing books!
Doesn't Have Too Much To Offer (Rating: 5 out of 10- -2.5 stars).......2007-08-14
So I read this book on how to help pick up women, because the title looks so promising. I read it and basically it doesn't have too much to offer. It doesn't give straight foward help, it kinda beats around the bush. I have learned some new things in this book, such as how to start conversations with women and ask openended questions with them (expect the phrase "Whats your story" about 1000 times). But basically, the information in this book is vague. It does not give instant results like we guys all planned to, but it gives you a starting point and hangs you out to dry on your road to being a PUA instead of a chump.
Being a 20 year old college student and living in a city full of females who are stuck up, I figured this book would help out. Unfortunately, it did not do me too much justice. If you guys found success in this book with the opposite sex, give yourself a pat on the back. Funny that female reviewers (like the one below me), might get a joke out of this book because they go around making others feel like crap. I for one really don't recommend this book because of it's vague subject matter. If you want to read a good book, I recommend How to Succeed with Women, because that book gives more info into detail. Peace.
THE JIG IS UP!!!.......2007-08-11
It has to be said, guys; WOMEN CAN READ! And we're reading these male dating guides faster than you are and we know all the tricks. Play them and you'll be labeled a loser before you get to flash that charming smile.
I have a college-age daughter and she and her friends have a collection of these books (The Game, Mystery Method, PBDG, etc.) that they pass back and forth and laugh about, belittling guys they've caught in the act of trying to employ what they've read. It's kinda sad.
And worse, every women's talk show has turned these books inside out. Any woman with a television will spot the act and you may lose out on a promising encounter.
Go back to being yourself. You're a lot more attractive than you think!
Basic but available elsewhere.......2007-07-27
While 'The Layguide' does cover the aspects of a succesful pickup, it is a fairly rudimentary guide. All the information in this book is also available in any of the sedution community sites. Fast Seduction has practically this entire book.
If you're truly interested, read 'the game' and then check out the seduction forums. It will benefit your wallet more...

Refreshing.......2007-06-20
Hi everyone! I actually bought the woman and male version of this text and I gave one to my fiance. I didn't even want to let go of the male version....it was written as well as the female version. I agree with earlier comments...the book is a delicate read and if you are a new born to the christian life you need a word that is inviting, warm with an air of simplicity. I just received a text from my man...he said he loves the book. Ladies by the book for a man that you love...who you know is trying to be a better man.
Christian Man.......2007-02-23
We are using this book in our men's Monday fellowship. We just started but it is a very easy read, short chapters that get straight to the point. Just the way men like it...
being a more Godly man.......2007-01-09
This wonderful book is wholly convicting and gets straight to the heart of the matter. If you have had inklings that you wanted to be a man after God's own heart, but haven't quite been able to get there, this book will lead you in the right direction. I stongly encourage any man who struggles with the day to day life of fatherhood, his world at work, and being a husband to read this book.
Good Christian Advice.......2006-11-23
After having read "A Woman After God's Own Heart", I wanted to read "A Man After God's Own Heart" (even though I am not a man). I loved the "Woman" book so much, I wanted to see what the "Man" book had to say. It told about what a man's priorities should be, using biblical passages for backup.
Even though I am not going to give a lengthy review, I will say that the book told about the important things in a man's life, such as caring for and supporting his wife, spending quality time with his children, etc.
One of my favorite parts of the book: when the author and his wife had small children, they paid a babysitter for 2 hours and had their weekly date across the street at a fast-food restaurant (only drank coffee). That tells you what his priorities were. Instead of saying "I can't afford a date", they made sure they had their date, even though they only had coffee. That precious, quality time was important. That really touched me.
I want to say one thing about Going Fishing. I know the author meant well about it, and that his point was that you are to put God first before fishing and anything else, which I totally agree. So this is not a complaint, and it is not going to take a Star away from my review. I just want to put in my feelings about Going Fishing. When I go fishing, I don't feel as though I am taking time away from God. I feel that the Creek Bank is God's Country, and I actually feel closer to God at the Creek Bank than inside a stuffy house. Reading my Bible on the Creek Bank is wonderful and refreshing.
This book was wonderful. It does not talk about abusing or controlling your wife. Instead, it talks about tenderly taking care of her, and the children. But most of all, putting God first.
An Insightful Look at a Man's Responsibilities.......2003-05-28
My wife is an huge fan of Liz George's popular books for woman. They have helped her spiritual life more than any other woman's books.
Jim George's book is no disapointment. As a bible teacher and scholar, he delivers a warm, easy-going, conversational manual for man seeking to glorify God with their lives.
The book is divided into easy-to-read chapters. He covers all the areas of a man's life and offers a gentle, but firm call for men everywhere to stand up and be counted in the spiritual battle.
A Man After God's Own Heart makes a great devotional read. I read a chapter a day for a month or so and it really helped me. I was challenged to be a better husband and a godly witness.
This is a great read and would make a great gift for the man in your life. It's not hard to read and it doesn't bog down with theological minutia. Jim George is talking to you man to man.
Men, pick up this book and read through it. Woman, get this book for your husbands. It's a great, great read.

AWESOME help for a man who needs EMERGENCY help............2005-09-07
I had client whose wife was in the process of leaving him.... this book (since he followed EVERY step to the letter) helped him immeasurably -- he was able to WIN BACK the heart of his wife..... !!!!! I have no idea what the other reviews were reading but this book WORKS -- it is of course better to provide regular heart, romantic, loving 'maintenance' for your wife but if you have neglected her over some period of time, this book will help you restore relationship....
Good Book.......2005-05-11
It seems to be split between those couples who've physically separated, and those who are going to if things don't change. Still plenty of good info, just as all Smalley's are.
Terribly Sad for Men.......2004-12-24
After having read "Winning Your Husband back" with it's sexist, misogynistic views, I was dying to read "Winning your Wife Back" and equally horrid book. I realize there are some terrible men out there, but this books generalizes that all men whose wives have bailed out are abusive. This book is degrading to men. That's what happens when you try to fit all men into the same mold (or all women). Most men aren't villians, most women aren't victims. I'm tired of these so called Psychologists/Professionals making it out so. People have to remember: The only people who go to shrinks are people in desperate situations. This tends to skew their viewpoint quite a bit. Also keep in mind that this book was written by an elderly man with very narrow views of a world that has gone the way of the DoDo.
Be very careful and alert.......2003-04-11
My now ex wife purchased this book for me while we were separated under the pretense that I needed to learn of sacrificial love which is covered under one of the chapters. The entire time she was sleeping around with one of her employees. I certainly learned quite a bit about sacrificial love. All I can say is please be careful, alert and don't let your spouse run all over you. There are always two parties in a marraige and in a divorce. I wish you all the best.

Book Description
With a bracing mix of fresh research, incisive reportage, and personal candor, Size Matters uncovers the causes and effects of society's bias against shortness and reveals how short people can and do thrive inspite of this insidious bigotry. Drawing on his own childhood experience (he was shorter than 99 percent of boys his age) and extensive investigation and interviews, Stephen Hall explores the fraught phenomenon of bullying and charts its lifelong consequences. He seeks out the factors determining that one person's small stature will lead to low status while another short person develops resilience that will enrich his later life.

Who Knew?.......2007-08-03
This book was a gift. I heard the author discuss it on THE LEONARD LOPATE SHOW on WNYC and ordered it for a friend who might find useful information in it.
does size equal destiny?.......2007-04-13
Does physical size ultimately matter? Well, it matters to Stephen S. Hall, author of this book, a "former shrimp" and from his research, we can conclude that it matters to others as well, particularly men. With quotes ranging from Cicero to "Revenge of the Nerds", Hall takes a fresh look at how height affects the mental health of boys and men. Using research and interviews from assorted medical experts, Hall explores such topics as how size affects aggression and bullying, how environment cues shape growth and maturity, the controversy surrounding hormone therapy for youths; and the impact an adult's size has on his professional and personal life. The author also draws on his boyhood memories of growing up shorter than average, and he even contacts several of his former classmates (bullies, victims and those who had been both) to see how they turned out. He also provides a parent's perspective on the subject of size, as a father of two children, a son and daughter. While sometimes a bit haphazard in its approach, "Size Matters" is a thoughtful and compassionate look at a topic that touches all of us at some point, regardless of gender.
Book Description
Let’s face it, most men need fashion advice, and few of them are going to receive a visit from the Queer Eye gang. That’s where Image Matters for Men comes in. In seven idea-packed chapters the Average Joe will learn which clothes will flatter his coloring and his build, which tie goes with which shirt, and which haircut and style of eyeglasses suit the shape of his face. There are detailed charts for mixing and matching colors and hundreds of photos of handsomely dressed models to help every man develop his own personal sense of style. The final chapter completes the head-to-toe makeover with detailed advice on beards and mustaches, shaving products, and facial skin care.

Men Commit Social Faux Pas When Women Dress Them.......2007-07-09
If you are young, fashion-oriented, and don't work in a professional or conservative industry, this book isn't bad. If you're over 30, looking to move up the corporate ladder, or an Alpha Male, STAY AWAY from this book.
If you're a Man and you really want to learn how to dress, visit the most exclusive and elegant men's clothing shops in your town. Don't go to the mall. Minimize the visits to stores that sell both men's and women's clothing. You'll get similar advice from the owners of these stores. Go to plays and symphonies and you'll see how the affluent crowd dresses. The rules for successful dressing have very little to do with "fashion". Shop by yourself and leave the wife or girlfriend or both behind. It doesn't matter whether they like it or not. You want to dress like a Man. I can spot men who let their women dress them a mile away. You can do far better than this book.
Book Description
Christopher Lee Nutter came out of the closet in 1994 with a bang in a brutally honest essay for Details magazine, thrusting him into the spotlight as an unofficial mentor to gay men across the country.
Twelve years later in this edgy memoir, Nutter chronicles his journey from closeted Southern boy to gay New York bartender and party boy, sharing everything he's learned about how gay men are taught to see themselves in a fundamentally destructive way. Assaulted with programming from the "gay" and "straight" worlds alike, gay men are left to ask themselves, Am I the coolest, sexiest, trendiest thing ever, or an illegitimate cancer on society?
Nutter contests that gay men are neither, but rather conscious beings on the path to realizing that they have the power to create their lives according to their own will rather than the will of the world, or the illusion of their fears. Part memoir, part philosophy, The Way Out gives tools tailored to the reality of gay men's daily existence-whether it's in the boardroom, the bedroom or the steam room- so that they can connect to this power, and in the process, discover the love, freedom and happiness they long for and deserve.
Customer Reviews:
Great!.......2006-07-31
I read this book five times and I learned something new every time. Give this book to someone you love.
Should be read by every gay man.......2006-06-20
The Way Out is a superb guide for gay men who want to achieve true freedom and peace of mind in their sexuality and relationships, and ultimately, the liberation promised by the greatest spiritual teachers of past and present. I cannot say enough good things about this book. I sincerely believe that nearly every gay man would profit tremendously by reading it and taking its recommendations seriously.
Nutter doesn't attempt to impose a new paradigm onto what it means to be gay, but rather helps us realize the importance of breaking out of ALL limiting paradigms so that we can be truly free. And yes, this is possible! Like the author, I've tasted it myself. As Nutter points out, it's only our unexamined beliefs that cause us pain and apparent limitation. Anybody who doesn't understand this has not yet taken the time to look at and critically examine his or her beliefs. And if the idea of doing this makes you uncomfortable, which it might, it's probably because you're just holding onto a belief about what it might mean.
The Way Out is NOT just another "coming out" guidebook. While it treats coming out with great depth and clarity, it the only book I know of that takes the idea of "coming out" ALL the way -- right through complete self-acceptance into self-liberation. This is the only true liberation possible for anyone, straight or gay.
Nutter has obviously navigated a challenging life road, and he candidly shares his fascinating stories with humility, honesty, humor and the clarity born of the willingness to follow one's own truth. Doing so has brought him enormous wisdom for a man still in his 30's. At 41, I've been following my own path of freedom for many years, but Nutter's book has offered me insights that I crucially needed. I completely agree with the subtitle to the book which suggests that any gay, bi or questioning man can profit from reading it, no matter how in or out of the closet he is.
In fact, if this book becomes the hit it deserves to be, the dominant gay culture, which as Nutter suggests can be as oppressive as straight culture, might change overnight. Buy this book, read it, be inspired by it, dive into your depths, find what is true before and beyond all the garbage in your mind (garbage imposed by straight culture and gay culture, but particularly our own minds), and realize freedom. Then give this book to others so that they can find freedom as well.
In closing, the only limitation I will ascribe to The Way Out is that the author does not explicitly recommend additional readings on the subject of spiritual freedom (although I realize this may have been an editorial decision). Interested readers of this book may want to consult Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now" (the biggest-selling spiritual book of the century so far, and one which Nutter quotes in the text), and also Byron Katie's "Loving What Is," which would be an extremely helpful companion to the type of liberating inquiry into one's pain-inducing beliefs that Nutter recommends. The teachings of these two authors will complement perfectly Nutter's inspiring teachings on freedom in the final part of his marvelous book.
The Easy Way Out.......2006-06-09
I am a gay man but not a "book reader" (although I read a bunch of classics for school...). When I picked up this book, something told me this was not an ordinary book.. And after reading it twice I can attest that the rare combination Nutter created betrween personal journal and advice is truly magical and very easy to read. Although my own personal experiences were different than his, the way he writes allows you to apply the Wisdom he offers to your own life. It helped me a great deal.
Inspirational.......2006-05-18
Christopher Nutter's book is truly inspirational. I am not a gay man. In fact, I am a straight woman. But the information contained in Mr. Nutter's real life stories, and his journey toward self realization is brilliant and thought provoking for everyone. I recommend this book for you to read, or, at the very least, to purchase for a gay friend or family member. You will not be disappointed.

Write faster! Clap! Clap! Clap! .......2007-04-09
A long, long time ago, when the Chtorr novels first came out, I worked at a restaurant in the kitchen. When the waitstaff (aka the Morons) thought we were cooking too slow they would enter the kitchen and start clapping like mindless cheerleaders to prod us into cooking faster. We usually told them to go soak their heads and get the hell out unless they wanted to be on the menu. Maybe if we all started clapping our hands (like the Morons) and started cheering on Davey boy he'll write faster? Just an idea.
By the way, the Chtorr stories are gripping stuff. Buy them!
This is hard sci-fi.......2006-01-22
This is very hard sci-fi. Do not pick up ths book without having many hours available to you to finish it. Once started, the book sucks you in gradually so that you say, "just one more chapter". When you finish the book at 5:50 am the next morning, you will be exhausted as if you had just run a 10K.
The above also applies to the three follow-on books.
I have read this book at least 5 times. Maybe 8. I lost count many years ago.
Gerrold's site, www.chtorr.com , claims that there will be a fifth book and a sixth book and a seventh book. I will believe it when I see it. I suspect that these books are so strenuous to write that the man might not have the strength to finish them anymore. There is a taunting preview of book 5 at http://www.chtorr.com/books-chtorr5/chtorr5.htm .
GREAT BOOK BUT READ NO FURTHER IN A LOUSY SERIES.......2005-12-15
This book is a great sci fi read, no doubt about it.
But...
Be advised: in book three, the protagonist engages in anal intercourse with a young boy. I have never been so repulsed by a protagonist with whom I identified.
Why does he do it?
I'm not sure why. It added nothing to the plot, though it did reveal a lack of character in the hero.
Gerrold endured a fire storm because of it and that's the reason why the fifth novel was never published.
This series richly deserves its out of print status.
A gripping read..........2005-11-02
I started the series this summer & I'm all caught up. I had first heard of the work from a GURPS game of the same name which I never bought but read the back page description. It seemed very interesting so I ordered a used copy of the book here on Amazon but shelved the book for almost a year before I got around to reading it!
All I can say is that Gerrold writes with an addictive, straight forward prose & I spent the entire summer going through all four novels & eagerly await the remaining volumes. His characters are offbeat & there is plenty of humor to go around in this nightmare world that he conjured up. What's really strange is that I can always see these odd parallels with our own ecology here in the real world when compared with the chtorrans. For example, like looking at the Hip Hop culture as some strange sub-ecology & trying to figure out what its motive is & why it functions the way it does as if it were its own entity. Or looking at our rapidly over-populating world & trying to determine what its next stage will be in terms of evolutionary process that may just be a fluke in its direction or some sort of design already determined for some higher purpose as the chtorrans are hinted at.
The books themselves deal with a lot of evolutionary theory & you can tell that it gets quite complex as you move through them which as I can see from reading Gerrold's website is understandably involving & making the remaining part of his opus still residing in the woodshed...being brushed clean with a fine toothed comb I would wager. "Intelligent Design" theorists should probably not read this book unless they want to cross-over to the Darwinian "dark side". Gerrold spends a great deal of time explaining the process of one ecology consuming another & I really looked forward to reading these parts as they had great shock value & the story keeps moving forward very reliably. You can also see some foreshadowing as such where it might not come back for a book or two distance from where you read it, but you can tell that something might happen with it in the future so it's always nice to make mental footnotes.
I eagerly await the rest of the follow-up books & will likely read his other books in the meanwhile to get caught up on all things Gerrold!
What an awesome first installment to the series!!!.......2005-11-02
First of all let me say that I haven't read the second book or any books that are after that, this review is for A Matter for Men only. I'm sure by now you know the gist of what the book is about, a species that man has never seen before from an ecology unlike anything the earth has ever known (presumed alien although the book never confirms that theory) has appeared after most of the earths population has been decimated by a series of plagues. The book is written from the perspective of Jim McCarthy who was enlisted into the Special Forces as a scientific researcher but ended up being a Soldier. The book is excellent straight from page 1, there is some great action and Gerrolds play on words are very helpful with giving you a mental image of what is going on. I read in alot of reviews about Jim's flashbacks to his classes with Whitlaw (pre-plagues of course) and to me the classes make you think. Things that can be applied to current events are viewed in a whole new perspective, those are my favorite chapters. I won't go into detail for those who want to read the book but what I wouldn't have given to have had a teacher that straight forward and honest with me! Finaly, I would like to comment on the amount of thought and detail Gerrold spent in making the Chtorran ecology seem like it was real. There was so much detail throughout the book and for every question I asked about how or why when it came to the different creatures or flora there was an explanation before the books end. This book was awesome, I would be depressed that the experience of reading this book is over except the fact that I have A Day for Damnation and will start on it shortly. I was never a big fan of Sci-Fi or reading until recently and I read this book in one week(that's fast for me). If you like a book with detail, thought, and great action than this is the book for you!

Book Description
Among the provocative social phenomena of our time, few have caught the public fancy as profoundly as that quintessentially American species known as Bubba. The conventional notion of Bubba is a Southern redneck who thinks a rented movie and a six-pack are quality entertainment. According to Dan Jenkins, this historical view has been advanced largely by "effete Easterners and West Coast ponytails who claim to like trout pizza and fat novels written by some kind of Ecuadorian". Granted, says Jenkins, there is more than one Bubba from Georgia who has spray-painted his girl's name on an overpass. But there is also more than one Bubba from Chicago who will do his Christmas shopping at Graceland. Bubba, Jenkins concludes, is a state of mind, and he proceeds to let Bubba define himself by speaking on topics ranging from beer to ballet, from haircuts to the homeless.
