I bought this book based on a review in Saveur. It did not give me the information that I wanted and at $50+, I thought that it was very overpriced.

At $65.00, this book is primarily intended for libraries, but also for those who often buy and cook meat. It is an encyclopedia with lots of color illustrations of the various animals, and cuts of meat.

At first glance, a novel that promises to expose the unethical practices of the American meat industry may not be at the top of your reading list, but Ruth Ozeki's debut, My Year of Meats is well worth a second look. Like the author, the novel's protagonist, Jane Takagi-Little, is a Japanese-American documentary filmmaker; like Ozeki, who was once commissioned by a beef lobbying group to make television shows for the Japanese market, Jane is invited to work on a Japanese television show meant to encourage beef consumption via the not-so-subliminal suggestion that prime rib equals a perfect family:

RE: My American Wife!...

Here is list of IMPORTANT THINGS for My American Wife!

DESIRABLE THINGS:
1. Attractiveness, wholesomeness, warm personality
2. Delicious meat recipe (NOTE: Pork and other meats is second class meats, so please remember this easy motto: "Pork is Possible, but Beef is Best!")
3. Attractive, docile husband
4. Attractive, obedient children
5. Attractive, wholesome lifestyle
6. Attractive, clean house...

UNDESIRABLE THINGS:
1. Physical imperfections
2. Obesity
3. Squalor
4. Second class peoples

The series, My American Wife!, initally seems like a dream come true for Jane as she criss-crosses the United States filming a different American family each week for her Japanese audience. Naturally, the emphasis is on meat, and Ozeki has fun with out-there recipes such as rump roast in coke and beef fudge; but as Jane becomes more familiar with her subject, she becomes increasingly aware of the beef industry's widespread practice of using synthetic estrogens on their cattle and determines to sabotage the program.

Cut to Tokyo where Akiko Ueno struggles through the dull misery of life with her brutish husband, who happens to be in charge of the show's advertising. After seeing one of Jane's subversive episodes about a vegetarian lesbian couple, Akiko gets in touch and the two women plot to expose the meat industry's hazardous practices. Romance, humor, intrigue, and even a message--My Year of Meats has it all. This is a book that even a vegetarian would love.

Book Description

Veteran filmaker Ruth Ozeki's novel has been hailed as "one of the heartiest and yes, meatiest debuts in years" (Glamour). It tells the story of a year in the lives of two ordinary women on opposite ends of the earth, brought together by a convergence of extraordinary circumstances. Jane, a struggling filmmaker in New York, is given her big break--a chance to travel through the U.S. to produce a Japanese television program sponsored by an American meat exporting business. But along the way, she discovers some unsavory truths about love, honor, and a particularly damaging hormone called DES that wreaks havoc with her uterus. Meanwhile, Akiko, a painfully thin Japanese woman struggling with bulimia, is being pressured by her child-craving husband to put some meat on her bones--literally. How Jane's and Akiko's lives intersect taps into some of the deepest concerns of our time--how the past informs the present and how we live and love in an ever-shrinking world.

A cross-cultural, tragi-comic romp through America and Japan that is "wonderfully wild and bracing . . . a feast that leaves you hungry for whatever Ozeki cooks up next" (Newsweek).

"Ozeki masks a deeper purpose with a light tone. . . . A comical-satirical-farcical-epical-tragical-romantical novel." -Jane Smiley, Chicago Tribune Book Review (front page)

5 out of 5 stars A Sure Thing.......2007-09-15

There are very few sure things in life, but one of them is "My Year in Meats" by Ruth Ozeki. This story has it all a great protaganist, a mystery to unravel and a fast paced story built around interesting business and societal issues making this book a satisfying read for readers of every shape and size.

A great gift I hit a home run when I gave it to my mother, my wife, a cousin (in her 20's) and my 19 year old daughter.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but still a rough draft.......2007-08-03

What starts off as an exploration of personal identity--about a half-Japanese, half-Caucasian woman who is connected to both cultures through her family and job but feels she belongs to neither--well established in the first chapter, is unfortunately dropped and barely mentioned again. This technique occurs throughout the novel, touching on the meat industry, family values, cultural differences, and sexual discovery, but never explores any of them very deeply. Even the writing itself is often stark, I often had no clear picture of what people or places looked like, and farms, apartments, offices all lacked the details to help me see where I was.

Overall, the novel reads as though the author wasn't sure what she wanted the story to be about (which she admits in the notes section), and just wandered around until she stumbled upon something that felt right. The ending is confident, makes assertions about meat and marriage using the two protagonists, then wraps everything up far too quickly and cleanly. This is fine in the drafting stages, but once the book is finished it really is the author's job to go back and create a unified whole. It's OK that the characters are confused and try to figure things out, but the narrative should be focused and aware. When the characters begin to discuss the perils of eating meat, it reads as someone who has read one book on the subject would speak about it, knowing a lot of chilling facts, but not understanding how it all works or being able to present it with a clear argument. This is not a bad story, I just believe the author should have spent more time with it.

3 out of 5 stars Four legs good, two legs bad.......2007-06-20

Actually, the first half of this book was good, the second half not so good. The first half has some splendid satire; it is funny, biting, and engaging. Ozeki manages to poke a lot of holes in American and Japanese materialistic culture and consumeristic values while throwing in a few thinly-sliced jabs at the meat and marketing industries. The story had "meat," but it was still amusing. Then Ozeki dropped her story on the slaughterhouse floor, so to speak, and from that point on it was a dreary, painful, strident, depressing, bloody mess. There's some redemption and happy-endings at the end, but I think I would have liked it better if she had stuck with the original tone and style. I was getting the message even before Ozeki started using the sledgehammers. The first half is good fiction with a message; the second half is an emotional mockumentary at the expense of story. Still, I will give her second book a try, All Over Creation.

5 out of 5 stars Must read book for Bookgroups !.......2007-06-10

This book really stands out as a thought provoking novel on many levels. The authors previous work in documentary film comes through in her writing style.

I was hooked after a few pages. Every once & a while it happens that you get fully engaged right away- that's what happened for me with this one. Oddly enough, without any easy explanation, I was in...though I had little in common with the main character of the book & had no idea why our bookgroup chose it or what it was about. Honestly, when I saw the title, I thought it would be a choice from the group that I never finished. Wrong! Try it! Might just end up being my favorite read of the year.

3 out of 5 stars A good book, give it a try.......2007-06-01

I picked up this book by accident, I was bored and it was at my parents' house. It started as an easy read, I skipped all the Japanese poetry (I don't "get" poetry) and read just the content of the story. I did enjoy the book, and even learned a thing or two.

The book reads like a bunch of short stories which are collected together, with the main character moving through them.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Totally awesome.......2007-08-01

I have never written a review for anything before, but this one deserves it. I absolutely love this book and so does my husband. I never knew so much about hot dogs, as well as the many different ways that people eat them across the country. I have it sitting out so that everyone can see it, and normally that is the first thing they pick up when they come to my home. I definitely recommend this book to anyone, even those who don't like hot dogs will like this book. It is totally awesome.

5 out of 5 stars Great American Hot Dog Book=Great Book!.......2007-04-30

In The Great American Hot Dog Book one will find not only recipes for hot dogs in every conceivable fashion, but also recipes for side dishes and a wealth of information on the hot dog. Ms. Mercuri has outdone herself in providing a real reference on the history of the hot dog and how it became an icon of the American foodways. Recipes from across the country, showcasing each regional specialty are included, making this book a great travel guide as well as a cookbook. Her attention to detail and recipe testing are well-evident and make for a terrific book.

5 out of 5 stars A book to truly relish.......2007-04-29

Becky Mercuri's latest addition to the history, traditions, and tastes of an American classic is truly a book to be read, used, and savored. From the traditions of New England to the modern stylings of the West Coast, Mercuri takes you on a culinary journey across the nation's hot dog highways and byways. Grab a copy of the book, sit back, and enjoy a trip that you will no doubt relish.

5 out of 5 stars Puttin' On The Dog!.......2007-04-24

First off, you're going to need two copies of this book: one for the kitchen and one for your glove box. One for the kitchen and one for the road!

Becky Mercuri, as in all her other fine books, has once again gone above and beyond in her quest to document the historical authenticity, modern day excellence, and (with apologies to A.B.) just plane ol' good eats!

The Great American Hot Dog Book does for hot dogs what hot sauce did for the lowly chicken wing: it takes the common and turns it into the exceptional! No matter your station in life, you'll never be able to look down your nose at the hot dog ever again! The recipes that Ms Becky has researched, tested, and then included in this book will see to it that you won't!

She has done a great job of providing us with the knowledge and recipes that examine and celebrate the various regional differences and preferences for hot dogs across this great land of ours. And there are some undeniable difference, for sure. Just ask any hot dog vendor in Chicago for ketchup on your dog and see what happens...

This is a great book on a great American tradition.

Thank you Becky Mercuri for another outstanding resource on traditional American food.

5 out of 5 stars The Great American Hot Dog Book.......2007-04-18

This is a most interesting and fun book. Anything written by Becky Mercuri is excellent. I love reading about hot dog stands in various states and would never have thought that there could be so many ways to serve wieners. Some of the sauces sound delicious. It's been years since I have had a hot dog (not even at ball games) but I plan to use some of the recipes in this book very soon. My family agrees that "The Great American Hot Dog Book" is a very special book.

5 out of 5 stars A Charming Timely Classic.......2007-05-08

For the grown ups who enjoyed reading Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little to their kids. This is the best clearist writing by the master of the short essay. He gives us pride in the values he holds and lives. A national treasure.

3 out of 5 stars A simpler time..........2004-06-09

Once upon a time i belonged to a book club. This was one of our choices. I have been trying to pull out fragments of memory. What i recall most fondly is that E.B. White's observations were tinted with a certain innocence. Why did we become so jaded? The last 50 years have brought along a heightened level of cynicism, and it was refreshing to read a grown man's slightly naïve comments.

At the same time, after a while I became a bit bored with the simplistic remarks of life in the country. My own shortcoming, not the book's.

5 out of 5 stars A war-time celebration of the American Experiment.......2002-10-06

This collection of essays is such a fine book; it deserves a much better commentary than it currently has here. And given the times we live in, its subject matter is particularly timely for American readers -- the period of history leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor and the early years of the war effort -- all told from the point of view of a thoughtful writer on a small farm in Maine.

White had moved there with his wife and young son from New York, where he'd been writing for The New Yorker, and took up country living, turning his attention to the annual round of the seasons, farm work, the nearby seaside, and the company of independent rural people. Most of the essays in this collection were written and published monthly in Harpers from July 1938 to January 1943. In them, there is White's awareness of the ominous threat of fascism emerging in Europe, as well as the vulnerability that Americans felt as they found themselves facing prolonged armed conflict with powerful enemies. These were dark days, and they provide a constant undertone in these otherwise upbeat essays about rural and small-town life.

And they are upbeat, celebrating the pleasures and gentle ironies of daily life with a few side trips into the world beyond -- the birth of a lamb, paying taxes, farm dogs, hay fever, raising chickens, Sunday mornings, radio broadcasts, civil defense drills, a visit to Walden pond, a day at the World's Fair, and unrealistic Hollywood portrayals of the pastoral. There is also here his famous essay "Once More to the Lake."

In many ways, the world he writes about is gone forever. But it's a world whose spirit remains at the heart of the national identity -- participatory democracy, individualism, citizenship, self-discovery, and self-reliance. Reading these essays, while they are often about seemingly trivial matters, you sense White's deepening faith in the American Experiment -- a belief in America as a work in progress.

And, of course, there is the famous White style, both simple and elegant. Its language, sentence structure, and movement of thought convey both sharpness of mind and generosity of spirit, in a manner that looks and sounds easy, but it is very hard to imitate. I recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the WWII homefront, the essay as a literary form, and a curiosity about rural life before farm subsidies and agribusiness.

5 out of 5 stars The Window Into White's Soul.......1998-12-11

Understanding E.B. White is not an easy task. He was a reserved man, very straightforward in his writing and simple in nature. However, White found that he was able to express himself with his writing, and none of his books is a more direct window into his soul than "One Man's Meat." Written over the course of White's later years of living on a Maine farm, this book contains witty accounts of geographic novelty, reminiscences on the promise of youth, and powerful insights into the little things in life that can make all the difference. No reader of E.B. White can gain a full knowledge of what the man was all about without having thoroughly digested this book.

5 out of 5 stars More satisfying than banana pudding........1998-10-31

For one who aspires to write well--the most delicious book I've ever read. The words "witty" and "sharp" come to mind, but poorly describe White and his work. Maybe, no words do with any degree of accuracy and right praise.

Who'd have guessed that the man credited with bringing rock & roll to a whole new level of garishness would pen such a vastly entertaining, funny, touching, and plainspoken autobiography? But Meat Loaf (christened Marvin Lee Aday) and coauthor David Dalton succeed by skillfully modifying the tongue-in-cheek hyperbole and the bombastic befuddlement of the man's Wagner-crossed-with-the-Shangri-Las music to fit the printed page. Meat Loaf grew up in Dallas, Texas, the son of a schoolteacher (she penned a locally popular textbook on Communism) and an alcoholic cop (who happened to be an acquaintance of Jack Ruby). Meat--he earned the nickname early on--got in touch with his theatrical side as a teen and was soon off on his haphazard way, stumbling from misadventure to misadventure, and taking more than his fair share of knocks along the way. (Literally--he's suffered 17 concussions thus far, which provide an oddly effective narrative device.) He lurched into the middle of the JFK assassination scene, picked up a hitchhiking Charlie Manson, earned a part in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and recorded one of the most successful albums of the '70s, Bat out of Hell. His ample fame inevitably tied to his ample frame, Meat Loaf quickly became something of an amped-up Fatty Arbuckle. Then came the colossal excesses and flop follow-ups, capped by a rebound called--you guessed it--Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell. Yes, it's a familiar framework, but the telling of Meat Loaf's rise, fall, and recovery is never anything less than fresh and absorbing. --Steven Stolder

Book Description

"poor fat marvin can't wear levi's!"a radio advertisement boomed as a 240-pound seventh grader named Marvin Lee Aday shuddered in humiliation. Parents said he was "too fat" to play with their children, and his classmates picked on him, even ganging up to lock him in a storage box. Unflatteringly nicknamed "Meat Loaf" by his alcoholic father, prone to getting concussions (seventeen in all), and drawn to musical theater, no one pegged this misfit kid to become a rock star. That is, until he recorded the third best-selling album of all time.In To Hell and Back, Meat Loaf reveals his amazing story--a rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches life that would rival most fiction. As a boy, he had to face down lowlifes straight out of Deliverance in order to fetch his drunken father out of gutbucket saloons--the same father who would later try to kill him with a butcher knife. He was at Parkland Hospital when JFK was declared dead, picked up a hitchhiker who happened to be Charles Manson, got recruited for the musical Hair while trying to get a job as a parking attendant, and starred in a movie that became the biggest cult film of all time, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. From there, he collaborated with Jim Steinman to make a record called Bat Out of Hell, which went from being laughed at and rejected by every music executive in the industry to selling more than 28 million copies and launching Meat Loaf into international superstardom. Meat's story would be incredible if it stopped right there. But that's just the beginning.

The heights to which Meat had soared were matched only by the depth of his plunge back into the abyss. In a swirl of devious managers, drugs, lawyers, guns, money, nervous breakdowns (including the psychosomatic loss of his voice), and more lawsuits than he could count, Meat Loaf lost it all. He was bankrupt, his relationship with best friend and collaborator, Jim Steinman, turned ugly, and his wife, having a nervous breakdown of her own, was considering a divorce.

But the hardest-working man in rock and roll would not stay down. Returning to his family he set out with them to conquer the world again, club by club and through word of mouth--a struggle that culminated in a reunion with Steinman, the Grammy Award-winning release of Bat out of Hell II, and a return to the limelight. Illustrated with dozens of previously unpublished photographs, Meat Loaf's story is--like Meat Loaf himself--larger than life.

To Hell and Back: An Autobiography is an absolute must for every ML fan.

this is great, entertaining and inspirational!

4 out of 5 stars Great read.......2004-09-21

This book is written in short, very entertaining spurts. It might be a good one to keep in your bathroom or at the office where you can only get a few pages read every now and then. There are incredibly funny and touching anecdotes scattered within, and you get a good look at Meat's personality and history.

My only complaint was that, besides his money troubles, he tended to skip over the tougher aspects of his life. Drug use, infidelity and the harshness of life on the road are treated as minor blips on the radar.

Otherwise, this is a fun and entertaining read. Meatloaf is a great storyteller, and one of America's great rock and rollers. If you're a fan of Meatloaf or a rock enthusiast, you'll enjoy this autobiography.

5 out of 5 stars Hell is honest and humorous.......2003-02-02

I got this book when it first came out, while I was in college. I remember driving my roomie crazy because I had also ordered a couple of Meat CDs and all I did all day was listen to Meat Loaf and read this book. I didn't go to class, I didn't go get food, I just read. GOD DAMN was this book a great read! Lucky for me I was going to college in Philly and Mr. Loaf was coming to a store nearby to do a signing...I'll never forget that!

I really can't say much about the book, except that it's an incredible story about an incredible man. I loved the book and I've told my friends time and again to read it; I'd recommend it even to people who aren't too keen on Meat Loaf. It's just a damn good book!

5 out of 5 stars Decades of Decadence.......2001-09-18

This is the tale of Marvin Lee Aday. AKA Meat Loaf. This fills in all the blanks in his life. You see where he came from, where he went and how he got there. It is told with comic irreverence. It shows you hte hell it is to be a struggling musician, and the hell it is to be a successful one. If you hve never read a Rock biography, I recommend this one because Meat is not your typical strung our junkie that most Rock bio's exault.
Thanx for your time, T

As a professional personal chef, it is important that I can identify multiple cuts of meat. This book has been and continues to be an invaluable resource for me. It is in my opinion that those who are chefs, students, or somewhere in back of the house operations need to have this book upon their shelves and take the time to read it or review it when deciding on types and cuts of meat when purchasing.

Book Description

Now in paperback, this classic barbecue book -- with 225 great recipes -- gives us the fruits of a lifetime of testing, eating, and enjoying good barbecue. Jeanne Voltz, one of the best-known food writers in the country, gathers the best regional recipes from across America, from Alabama, the Carolinas, and Florida to California and the Southwest. It's all here: barbecued ribs, beef, fish, chicken, lamb, game; seasonings and sauces that give barbecue its regional flavors; kettle foods and "go-alongs" (Garlic Grits on the Grill, Chile Cornbread); and "after the barbecue" dessert ideas (Toasted Marshmallow Sundaes, Peach-Blackberry Compote). And to get you started the right way, Jeanne Voltz outlines all the essentials: equipment, accessories, building a good fire, and cooking techniques -- including smoking. Laced with personal stories about great roadside joints and barbecue lore, Barbecued Ribs, Smoked Butts, and Other Great Feeds captures the spirit and flavor of America's love for outdoor cooking.

"Jeanne Voltz has written a definitive book on barbecuing. She understands the varying tastes and the techniques of each region she covers, and this is The book on barbecue. I love it."

-- James Beard

"No one knows the fine art of barbecuing better than Jeanne Voltz."

-- Jean Anderson

"A wonderful, no-nonsense book. So inspired, soul-warming, and professional is Voltz's whole approach to barbecue and those foods related to it that I think it's safe to say that you can now throw out other cookbooks you might have on the subject."

-- James Villas,

5 out of 5 stars Revolting, dispicable to rever such unclean flesh..........2007-09-18

I'm joking of course. But in this politically correct world, we must be considerate of all viewpoints. Such effusive praise for what a large percentage of the world's population consider an abomination is ahem, indelicate. I love bacon and the book serves up delicious delicacies that showcases the versatility of pork belly. I use to butcher as a kid and watch my grandfather cure bacon as did his father before him continuing back to the 1740's of Virginia.
I host an annual pig roast for my co-workers in Virginia, but in the interest of inclusivity will have to foregoe it in the future to keep from offending certain sensibilites. Ah how the world turns and our country changes...

There is another pending cookbook on bacon that is due to release Nov. 2007. It looks worth keeping an eye out for.

4 out of 5 stars Very Nice Book on Delectable Subject. Could have been better........2007-08-18

`Seduced by Bacon' by culinary writer Joanna Pruess, with assistance from her restaurant critic husband, Bob Lape, deals with what is easily the tastiest of Gentile culinary pleasures. It is certainly a time-honored tradition to dedicate an entire book to one very specialized subject such as lobster, mushrooms, or muffins. The only problem with this subject in a book of its own is the very popularity of the subject. This popularity means that virtually every other large cookbook will already have spent lots of space dedicated to the subject. All the most famous bacon recipes, such as the BLT, pork and beans, and bacon wrapped scallops will already have been done to death. And, anyone with a reasonably good cookbook collection will already have most of these recipes.
The well-worn subject is helped a bit by covering `bacon' in the broadest sense, including pancetta, Canadian bacon, English and Irish bacon (actually almost the same as Canadian bacon), gypsy bacon, ventricle (French for pancetta), guanciale (Italian for pig's jowls) and even prosciutto (which, to be sure, is not really bacon at all. The book also spends the expected time in talking about all the different ways bacon (standard American restaurant, standard, or thick-sliced) bacon is prepared. Like so many `cursory' treatments of obligatory material, I really miss a lot of fine details and illustrations. The biggest oversight is the fact that the good authors never get around to telling us how we can actually make our own bacon! This, I think, is not out of place, as virtually all good books on fresh sausage actually tell us how to make several different kinds of fresh sausage. And, my hero, Alton Brown even dedicated an entire `Good Eats' show to the details of actually making bacon. While I have no plans to make bacon myself, knowing exactly how it's done goes a long way in helping to find the very best specimens.
But, for a relatively modestly list priced book, this still has much to offer in original recipes, as Ms. Pruess makes a point in saying that the has not collected all the `classic' recipes she can, but has concocted many of her own, although almost all are variations on standards, and, to be sure, there are certain standards, like the above mentioned BLT and pork and beans which cannot be denied. The recipe chapters cover:
Breakfast & Baked Goods
Appetizers & Snacks
Salads & Soups
Sandwiches
Seafood
Poultry & Meat
Pasta, Beans & Grains
Vegetable Side Dishes
Desserts
The last chapter of four recipes may be the most surprising. Bacon's high fat content goes well with rich desserts, but its salty side would seem to ruin the sweet stuff. Of the four, the combination with apple and nutmeg-seasoned cantaloupe seems to work, but the ice cream and combination with chocolate I leave to the Iron Chef competitors and their judges to taste.
The book has many `bacon bits', sidebars of miscellaneous info, all of it interesting, but not very deep. If you love bacon and can get this cheap, it's a great buy.

5 out of 5 stars Smell the bacon!.......2007-07-15

Yum...one can never have too many recipes for this delish food and THIS book with beautiful pictures and recipes fits the bill! I could literally...smell the bacon.

5 out of 5 stars A+, and then some................2007-05-16

What a fantastic book! I loved it. The bacon variations alone make this book priceless. Do yourself a favor and bring home SBB!

5 out of 5 stars At First it Sounds a Little Weird.......2007-02-17

I've always loved filet with bacon wrapped around it. And there are bacon hamburgers, and BLTs. Then a few years ago I discovered shrimp wrapped in bacon. Then I saw the cover of this book, and that was all it took. The cover has a picture of Salmon, with some kind of glaze and a couple of slices of bacon draped over it. What a great idea! - The recipie is on page 94.

And on page 105 there's Jamaican Jerked Shrimp, mushrooms & tomatoes (with bacon of course). The good thing here is that you don't even have to wrap the bacon around the shrimp.

Then there's chicken, turkey, lamb, short ribs, rabbit. And who would have thought of a peanut-butter and bacon sandwich -- just wait 'til you try it.

By now you should have the idea. Here's about a hundred different ways to use bacon to enhance foods. Some I haven't tried yet, but am going to. A couple really have me wondering: Pecan-Brown Sugar and Bacon Ice Cream. Ice Cream?

5 out of 5 stars Chef Chamberlain Rules!.......2006-08-01

Chef Richard Chamberlain brings to print wonderful recipes typical of the fine dishes served in his Dallas restaurant. This book is a must for true "beef lovers" and would be a great present for your friends and family. It is great to read that "all of the red meat I have been sticking in my face" for so long, could actually be healthy; when prepared properly.

5 out of 5 stars Great Cookbook.......2006-03-03

We got the book as a Christmas present, and have already made several recipes. They have all been quick and easy, and turned out great. The fact that the recipes are healthy is a huge bonus. The espresso bourbon sauce is particularly great - I can't get enough of it. This is a great cookbook for beef lovers or for people looking for healthy recipes.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource .......2006-01-25

I recently found the book at my local library. As I was paging through the book, I found page after page of healthy recipes that looked and sounded wonderful! The back of the book has a section of very helpful information regarding nutrition, cuts of beef, etc. I decided to purchase the book through Amazon. I'm looking forward to making it a part of my library.
