Faith vs. Proof.......2007-09-27
Keep in mind that this author--like many who write books on religion--is not formally educated and their books do not offer factual, unbiased and complete accounts of the of the world's major religions. It is not unusual for these authors to have a personal agenda more than an intention to educate. If we really want to learn about the world's religions, a college classroom may be a better place to start...
For example, the author tries to argue that there is no "proof" of certain beliefs or events in different major religions and Christian denominations-- when in fact, there is no "proof" that there is even a God in the first place, according to an athiest. Much less if there is "proof" of:
reincarnation,
that Jesus was the Jewish Messaih according the Jews,
that God had a Son at all according to the Muslims,
or that the miracles of the Bible really happened according to the Hindus and Buddhists...etc.
For those, however, who read this book seeking not only facts but truth...The only way we are to know the Truth about any questions we have about religion is through prayer (no matter what faith we belong to). As a Christian, the author should know that the only thing that can bear witness to God or His Son is the Holy Ghost. For example, if you are Jewish and aren't sure that Jesus was the Messaih, then you have to pray and you will receive an answer that will surpass all logic. If you are a Christian and aren't sure that the Mormon doctrine is true, then you have to pray and you will receive an answer as well. If you simply want to know how to think about other major religions that exist in the world, you must pray about that also. Good or bad, at least you will be a seeker of the...truth.
What you DON'T do is write books on subjects that you are not formally educated on, books on hate using other books on hate and false information as your resource, teach children to hate or believe everything that you read out of pure ignorance--as this author has done.
Great Book!.......2007-09-24
I have truly enjoyed this book and have learned so much about other religions, including my own. This book is very well written and easy to understand. I would recommend it for anyone.
Great Overview!.......2007-08-20
This book is a great overview of the differences in religions. As a Christian, and even being firmly rooted in my faith, I can't help but ask that question..."So, what's the difference?" I didn't find this book a defense for Christianity, it is very good to know the main points of other religions and then to see how they compare with Christianity. It is what it says it is...a book about the differences of religions. It makes me want to dig deeper.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.......2007-08-08
I bought this book recently and couldn't put it down...Fritz did an excellent job researching major world religions, cults and secular humanism/Darwinism/postmodernism thinking...he gives specific examples, quotes Scripture to support the Christian viewpoint and does a masterful job explaining what Orthodox, Roman Catholicism, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormon, Freemason, etc. beliefs entail...this book makes you think about life, our free will and the afterlife. Buy it and read it. I guarantee it will open your eyes.
Informative.......2007-08-07
This book is well written and easy to read. Informative and very helpful in understanding the difference.

excellent effort and a great start for anyone with a concience.......2007-08-11
I loved this book. I use it constantly and recommend it for everyone! Wow, that corporation Altria that owns about a hunrdred familiar brands is so evil! I do wish it had more information on the comapnies it does list. And I would also have loved it if it included much more names than it did. I couldn't find most of the brands I'd like to know about in there. Still, it's better than no info and it's a great portable guide during shopping trips.
Green Living Easy.......2007-07-20
This book can help people who want to spend their money in the right direction toward environmentally conscious and socially responsible business'. It's easy, fun, self-fulfilling and educating.
Everyone needs one.......2007-06-30
This little book is the best thing I ever purchased. It makes it so easy to make informed shopping decisions so I can support the principles that are important for a company to have. It has opened my eyes to the business/corp. world to help me use my dollar to vote. It also offers lists such as where it is most important to pay attention to the grades (ex. choosing an "A" bank will have a greater impact than say an "A" brand deoderant). I an planning on buying a ton of these books as stocking stuffers this year for friends and family. Spread the knowledge!
Let Your Money Talk.......2007-03-31
Money Talks, and nothing speaks louder than which products you buy. This book will help simplify your buying choices.
This is great.......2007-03-13
Takes all the mystery out of shopping for lots of basics and not so basics. This book is very portable and not nearly as complicated as other guides and you can't carry a website shopping with you.
I'm going to be giving out a bunch of these.

Stating the Obvious.......2007-09-14
For too many people, all religions are alike. Dr. Gabriel puts the focus on two major world religions and shows how different they really are. We are all familiar with Jesus's counsel to "turn the other cheek" to your enemy. Islam has a very different approach.
Also, Islam's condemnation of anyone who is not a Muslim (infidel) sets up a two-tier theocratic society wherever it rules. Apartheid in South Africa was based on skin color - this one is based on your religious beliefs. Both should be condemned just as strongly as an affront to universal values that promote equality of all men and women.
Buy the book and learn the differences. They are critical to know in this day and age.
Liar.......2007-09-13
it was a wast of Money
These Writer Claimed That he was A Muslim And he did Study in The Al Azhar Islamic Univesity ............ect. But i CAn tell from His Face that He never was A Muslim. Some one would say this is only a personal openion.... but i would say this writer intenionally used to lie on us tills wrongfull stories about the prophet Mohammad and if did study Islam in the Al azhar Uni. he would Known better.... but im sure this man just looking to make money from this cheap job and claiming that he knows the Islam better than any one
My letter to the writer is:
I Have seen a lot of the Egypyian Coptic trying to mislead Muslims and None Muslim ,and that is only another example in this case . if you dont like Islam Thats Fine with us we the Muslims ,you are free to choose, but to lie on us and our Prophet History this is not acceptaple, and not profisional attitued
Peace be Upon All The Prophets from Adams to the last Prophet of this life Mohammad Son of Abdullah
Scholarly comparison.......2007-08-23
The author quotes from the Quran and the hadith (which include Muslim practices and philosophy), both of which he knows well having memorized the Quran by age 12. He also knows the Bible well and quotes effectively from it in making his comparisons. Topically arranged, the book is easy to read and understand. Excellent! ! !
A most pointed differnce between Christianity ans Islam.......2007-02-23
The author compares the teachings and the life examples set by Jesus and Muhammad. There is a stark difference between the path of Peace taught by Jesus and the path of violent conquest to subject all others to Islam as portrayed by all the wars and bloodshed Muhammad led his people through by the example of his life and teachings. The author portrays this difference in contrast very well. This book challenges the concept of Islam as a religion of peace through Muhammad's own words and teachings as well as the life he lived as an example for fellow Muslims to follow. It offers a challenge for those that have eyes, ears, and a mind, which God gave them which they are willing to use.
A painful personal sacrifice for the truth.......2007-02-21
Dr. Gabriel questions put him direct conflict with the Egyptian Islamic secret police. The day after voicing concerns about Islam, Dr. Gabriel was kidnapped by the secret police. The secret police did not give him food or water for three days; they tortured him by hitting the bottom of his feet; they tried to force a confession and make him give reasons why he had renounced Islam.
Dr. Gabriels began to doubt Islam after analyzing the life of Mohammad; He started to ask questions liek why are followers of Allah slaves 2. why can't followers of Allah pray for forgiveness 3. why are women viewed as evil.
Dr. Gabriel found peace by reading the Beattitudes of Jesus; having suffered severe headaches, the scriptures provided a vision of peace and Dr. Gabriel converted from Islam to Christianty; his father upon hearing that Dr. Gabriel had converted from Islam attempted to shoot him with a gun.
Some interesting facts about Islam: 1. Only Allah can forgive and not even Mohammad claimed the power to forgive. A person will learned if Allah has forgiven him at the time of judgment when Allah allows him into paradise. A fighter for Allah receives forgiveness from Allah. 2. Mohammad taught Jesus Christ was not resurrected and the event was made to seem real to Jesus's followers. 3. Mohammad taught Jesus prayed to Allah and worshipped Allah. 4. Mohammad punished the conquered Mecca and Media by slaughtering the inhabitants. 5. A man may divorce his wife by saying "I divorce you" three times, and can not remarry her until she has been divorced from another man. 6. Warriors for Allah are promised paradise for their sacrifice and forgiveness for their actions. 7. Mohammad is Allah's prophet 8. The followers of Islam are taught to completely submit to the will of Mohammad without question, a sword on the neck. 9. Prayer must be given five times a day and any neglect to complete a prayer voids out the previous prayers for the day. 10. Special washing rituals must be done before prayer. A prayer rug is used when prayer to Mecca is not possible. 11. A man may have four wives. 12. Forgiveness of ones enemy is not required, one may chose to strike back nor not act. 13. Islam divides all people into three groups: slaves, believers, and unbelievers. 14. Mohammad retained 20 percent of soils from warrior and the remaining soils were divided among the warriors by fractional percentage. 15. There are 1.2 billion Islamic members in the world. 16. The Islamic bank is one of the fastest growing financial organization in history. 17. Each Islam member must pay a 2 percent tax to Mohammad. 18. Islam should be the world religion

Great way to get inspired to action!.......2007-07-09
As I read through this book, I highlighted the pages that were of most interest to me. Now, I have ~50 ways that I personally will try to change the world. I was so impressed with this book, I ordered 12 copies to give to friends! Hopefully, they will highlight the pages that are most pressing for them and begin to take action. My only stipulation when giving the books away was that if they didn't plan to read the book and get active, they must pass the book on to someone else.

very peaceful to read.......2007-08-16
I thought this was a good book. It really helps to think about things in a different way. Sure it's some stuff you have heard before, but it really helps reading it. I enjoyed it.
FAILURE OF DELIVERY.......2007-05-12
THE PRODUCT I ORDERED NEVER ARRIVED. IT GOT LOST, I WAS TOLD WHEN I CONTACTED AMAZON MAY 10TH, 20 DAYS AFTER THE LATEST DELIVERY DATE PROMISED.
quick read - deep ideas.......2007-04-05
This book has some VERY good ideas. There are some blah ideas too, but it's a quick read. Here are some of the best ideas:
If you base your happiness on things being different than they are currently, you've set yourself up for constant disappointment. The only aspect of life you have any control over is your own reaction to the events taking place. There are always going to be people doing things we don't like and things happening that we wish were different. We don't control much of what happens around us, but we do control how we respond to it.
You are the one creating your thoughts. You have the power to chance your thinking. You can follow your thoughts as they arise or you can change or drop them.
Nothing Very New.......2006-08-14
This is a good, quick summation of things you may have read in self-help books, especially those dealing with cognative psychology. However, it contains nothing very surprising.
A Bit Zen.......2006-07-29
It's odd to give about the same number of stars to a little self-help book as to Anna Karenina, but for it's genre it's pretty good. It's probably 3.5 stars, but I rounded up.
The book is short, and as it suggests, it gives several ideas for simple things one can do that may have pay off in out of proportional ways. Some you have heard forever, and some are new, or at least stated in a new enough way to seem fresh. An example that sparked me was the advice to observe your thoughts as you would a movie- in a detached way that causes one to desensitize to the negative ones and see them lose power. Very little background is given (or probably required) as to cognitive reasons for how or why this works.
Much of the advice seems to come under the Zen notion that "desire is suffering", and some is a restatement of kharma or the golden rule, but regardless of their source, they have been hammered by the author into practical chicken soup advice.
Is is worth the read? Is it worth 15 dollars? If it helps you, and it may, to make a much needed attitude shift or deal with a blind spot in your life, then clearly the answer is yes. I would say for me personally it was worth the read based on one or two chapters, but I'm sure the rest of the book didn't hurt me any.
Book Description
Written by Jewish and Christian educators for use by college and adult learners, this volume explores eight basic questions that lie at the core of both traditions and that can serve as a bridge for understanding. Among the questions are: Do Jews and Christians worship the same God? Do Jews and Christians read the Bible the same way? What is the place of the land of Israel for Jews and Christians? Are the irreconcilable differences between Christians and Jews a blessing, a curse, or both? Each chapter includes discussion questions.
