Adapting their techniques for fostering creativity as a means to spiritual fulfillment for the workplace, the authors of The Artist's Way at Work have shown that people can thrive at their jobs when they take time to nurture their spirit and listen to their thoughts. The book features psychological guidance, anecdotes, and exercises to assist the reader in sorting out the multitude of happenings, commitments, and choices in one's life. Again, these authors of the enormously successful The Artist's Way recommend their fundamental technique of "morning pages"--a kind of free-form journaling--to unravel thoughts and feelings, focus energy, and direct action. The beautiful surprise of this deceivingly simple exercise is that it actually works! It's making the time to do morning pages that's the real battle. But, if you, like so many others, feel swept up by the tidal wave of our fast-paced, noisy culture, then the authors' slow and steady steps toward reclaiming the spiritual self are invaluable. Some of the suggestions and exercises are a bit out of touch with the complex, and often emotionally-charged, political maneuverings of corporate culture, but the aim of cultivating an individual's ingenuity and resourcefulness is effective and expertly structured. Overall, the authors' philosophy boils down to change that begins with a constantly emerging self. With this book's help, you'll not only find how that new self spawns clarity and grace, but how widely their effects can reverberate throughout the workplace. --Karen Karleski

Book Description

After the publication of the bestselling book The Artists' Way, Julia Cameron and Mark Bryan, co-creators of the country's most successful course on creativity, were often told that their techniques helped people achieve their business goals. This spurred them to refine the methods to help people perform more creatively and effectively at work. The program is revealed in The Artists' Way at Work: a twelve-week encounter with your own ingenuity, struggles, strengths and dreams -- as well as the political guidance to enable you to get things done.

Through powerful self-assessment exercises with intriguing titles such as "Power Inside vs. Power Outside," "Developing Creative Continuity," and "Finding Your Truth," readers learn to release their creative spirit at work and tap reserves of energy, vision, and passion. The Artists' Way at Work will help you excel in your job, launch the business of your dreams, or find the career you love. Best of all, you will learn to "live in the paradox" -- to develop a personal philosophy of excellence that sustains you, whatever the future holds.

They have been rigorously tested among business audiences and will unleash a degree of satisfaction at work (and in life) you may never have believed possible. Reading the book for a masters level creativity class so I started out a skeptic. While much of the reading in the class has turned out to be very interesting, this book just hasn't struck any chords for me.

Some of the poeple in the class seem to appreciate it so it gets an extra star... but I'd suggest reading some of it before picking it up. If it works for ya, go for it. Otherwise, be cautious.

This is the second Julia Cameron book I have read. It is very much like Artist's Way except it is for the artist in the work place. All of Cameron's books talk about the artist within but it is for those who are looking for self. Self is what you are going to find. It is getting rid of what is unimportant and focusing in on the important making a complete and happier person. I am not quite done with this book but have devoured it and shared it as I did with her first book.

After completing the self-study program with Julia Cameron's Artist's Way ... this work-oriented book helps artistic and creative souls find a way to breath life and express their creative fire on the job. Cameron's analogy of the dragon is a dep metaphor to the fears that stop us from being our true selves. Instead of bottling up all the intense energy ... Riding The Dragon ... draws out our intensity with constructive excercies, wisdom, and a proper channel to achieve positive results. Cameron is one of the best informal writing guides for all of us with a voice were excavating.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......1999-10-05

This book has it all. It is a must have for any wizard. With the other 3 books you will have thousands of spells that are easy to find and understand.

4 out of 5 stars Useful but unbalanced.......1999-06-25

The breakdown of the spells into various groups helps players check spells fast.

But beware, play balance of the spells are poorly done for nearly all spells cast by Elminster, Khelbun, Seven sisters and the major characters in FR.

The rest are alright execpt for some balantly munchkin ones (unidirectional wall of force??). Discretion required.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool.......1999-06-25

A good compilation of spells. I like the tables in the front of this (the first) book. I understand this is not meant to be a rule book, but some help on where to find rules on chronomancers would be nice, since there are a fair number of spells for them in here. Recommend getting 1st and 4th books before obtaining rest so that you get the tables and index.

5 out of 5 stars very useful. great spell tables and specialties........1999-05-25

this volume was the pinacle of the spell compendium. It has spells listed in dozens of different lists with different themes. It includes many specialties from dragon magazine. it also includes optional rules like psionic enchantments and spell paths. A+ material.

5 out of 5 stars The cream of the crop........1999-05-11

Anyone who thinks that this book is redundant, or just repeats spells, is insane. Thousands of spells were collected from every adventure, and magazine to make this the most complete listing of spells avalible. Many have also been updated to work with AD&D rules.

5 out of 5 stars PLAYERS GUIDE TO A GREAT CAMPAIGN SETTING.......2005-07-06

Previously I've had the pleasure of reviewing the Kingdoms of Kalamar Campaign setting and Atlas and now comes the third fantastic book the Kingdoms of Kalamar Player's Guide. This latest supplement for Dungeons & Dragons or D20 is designed with the players in mind and features everything you need to know to create a PC for play in the rich and lively world of Kalamar.

You begin your character creation by selecting your race, of course but also selecting your race from numerous human types as well, all which come with their unique traits and characteristics including languages, physical make-up, etc. Even within the demi-humans there are other variants such as Hill, Mountain, and Stone Dwarves, Rock and Forest Gnomes, Half-Hobgoblins, etc.

From race we move to class selection and all of the various standard classes are presented along with variants such as the bard variant the Basiran Dancer, Brigands, Gladiators, Infiltrators, Shamans, and Spellsingers. Of course you can't have a D&D supplement today without new Prestige classes and the Kalamar Player's Guide doesn't disappoint with eleven new prestige classes including: Bounty Hunter, Golem Master, Muse, Mariner, Restorer, and Warlord. In addition there are neat little fighting schools that come with packages of skills and feats your character can obtain through level progression.

Speaking of feats and skills there are dozens of new ones to choose from and the back has an appendix listing all skills and feats from this book as well as the other D&D sources. New feats include such interesting and useful abilities as elemental adept, fast healer, sense danger, and spell dodge.

There's lots of new spells to choose from for all the spell-casting classes as well as new magic items and even some new artifacts as well. As with all the other Kalamar books, the Players guide is well-written and illustrated in a nicely bound, very heavy and durable hardcover book. Kalamar is a well-constructed, rich world. The writers and editors present the information in straight-forward format with lots of appendices to help the DM and player out. The final part to a great campaign setting.

5 out of 5 stars Strong worthwhile book.......2002-12-24

Another in the line of excellent books from Kenzer, this book has a lot to offer. It gives you more background on playing characters in Kalamar, including some more information on playing various demi-humans. For those who want still more rules, they have some new classes (we have a very effective Brigand in a current campaign) as well as some new spells, a comprehensive list of clerical domains and a whole lot more. I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book, Great Setting........2002-12-18

This is a great book with tons of information that you can put into any D&D setting. It is geared toward Kalamar, but is written so generically that you can insert the information contained in this tome into any D&D campaign.

Classes: This book takes the Dungeon Master's Guide's advice and takes the initiative to create variant classes. These range from more specific versions of a class with cool abilities (like the Gladiator and Shaman) to classes that combine existing ones into exciting new classes that are much different than the old ones (like the infiltraitor). These classes are as flexible as the old ones and are fairly well balanced. Also are new prestige classes that cover specific jobs (Mariner, Muse) and a few of the many orginizations on Tellene (Sentinels of Providence, Alliance Merchant).

Feats: Absolutely tons of new feats in this monster. New types of feats like the Enhanced Familiar feats (which give your familiar better abilities like a higher intellegence or the ability to speak) and regional or race-based feats which you can only take at first level help shape your character to exactly what you want and brings the game back to roleplaying.

Religion: This book details the canons of each church. Although these are specifically related to Kalamar gods, they can be adapted to fit any setting. In addition, this book gives ideas on how clerics can advance through the church and very basic game rules like time spent and how to advance to the next level and what you get at each level.

Other rule stuff: The equipment section isn't too terribly exciting but it does give a shot at pushing the edge. Included are (some) new weapons and rules for slaves. The most exciting part is the new alchemical mixtures that will get you thinking of your own and are all interesting in their own way. Their is repeat in the domain section, but not a large amount. The new spells are kinda cool, but what is really nice is the scalable spells. These are kind of like Wheel of Time spells where you choose the level it is cast at.

At the end: The white pages. If you are thinking telephone book when I say that you are on the right tracks. In these are a comprehensive list of all feats and spells (divided up by class) in all official D&D products and where they can be found. These can then be copied to use as a spell sheets. Also back here is a gigantic Place of Origin table. Only useful if you are playing Kalamar but it is non-obtrusive and only takes 7 pages.

To close, this is a great book for all D&D players and DMs alike. If you don't have it yet, I recommend you pick one up.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent even for non-KoK, some errors however.......2002-10-05

Kingdoms of Kalamar is a campaign setting from Kenzer & Co, the makers of the Knights of the Dinner Table. This book however, although aimed for the KoK player, is most useful for a regular D&D player. Why?
- a lot (I mean a lot) of new feats anybody can use
- several variant core classes like the Gladiator or the Infiltrator that can easily be used in other campaigns
- new prestige classes (like the Golem Master)
- canons (holy books) for Kalamarian faiths. They are written up very generically, so they can easily be used in FR/GH or wherever
- new equipment: poisons, alchemical items etc
- a lot of spells
- how to make rulers more powerful
- gaming rules for clerical hierarchy

The book suffers from some errors, mostly editing and playtesting. The art is sometimes irritating and some 'crunchy' bits have already appeared in other books. I, however have found this book to be of excellent value.

4 out of 5 stars Great Guide.......2002-06-09

This player's guide is great and has uses even if you don't play in a Kalamar campaign. The main reason I bought it was for the list of alternate uses for skills as well as the list and description of various Crafts, Knowledges, and Professions. The variant core and prestige classes can be inserted into most campaigns. There is a lot of reprint material in the Feats and Spells section, but I think the new material out weighs the material I've seen before.

5 out of 5 stars Buy this book and let your imagination soar!.......2000-11-05

This is an excellent, imaginative book that my 3 1/2 year-old son absolutely loved. We are big fans of Mark Teague's illustrations and found this book because of him, but we now love Audrey Wood, as well. This book is adventurous, but not scarey, as well as fun and playful. It would be an excellent gift for ages 2.5-5 years.

4 out of 5 stars A springboard for imagination.......1998-11-21

I particulary enjoyed this book by my favorite picture book author because I was able to take my children to see Ms. Wood and Mr. Teague when it came out. I have used it in my classroom as a springboard for a writing activity because it is a wonderful reminder that with imagination and books you can go anywhere and do anything. The characters drift from room to room without any particular plot, but it is forgivable because the book celebrates the "can-do" spirit of childhood. My three year old wants to read it over and over to watch where "Baby Sarah" ends up and look at the cornucopia of images on every page. I always prefer Don Wood's illustrations with her books, but if you can relinquish that expectation the pictures are a lot of fun.

3 out of 5 stars Birds are dinosaurs, but not all dinosaurs were birds. .......2007-10-03

This is a gorgeously illustrated but haphazardly written book about the feathered dinosaur fossils that have been discovered in China over the past decade. Its subjects are the relationship of dinosaurs to modern birds, the evolution of flight and feathers, new fossil discoveries, recent advances in paleontology and the authors' experiences in China. The book follows neither a chronological pattern recounting the authors' discoveries and research, nor does it develop an idea by progressing from basic concepts to more complex ones. This is unfortunate, because that is the usual approach and works well. Instead ideas and events are presented in no discernable sequence and this detracts from what could have been an excellent book.

The title is a pun on both the discovery of dinosaur fossils as well as of China itself. The authors recount anecdotes from their travels in China and their interactions with various Chinese, in the course of their fossil studies. The book does succeed in painting an intriguing picture of the contrasts that make up modern China. It is less successful in its discussion of dinosaur fossils. Much of the discussion hinges on dinosaur family trees relating to issues such as the origin of feathers and flight. This is a complicated subject and charts or diagrams showing genealogies and family trees are essential, but none are provided. The essential message is that just as all humans are mammals, but not all mammals are humans, birds are descended from dinosaurs, but not all dinosaurs were birds. There is a deus-ex-machina quality to how amazing fossils are pulled out of the cabinets of various Chinese researchers, as if there is an unending supply still in storage. The numerous full color photographs of fossils are very interesting but difficult for a non-specialist to interpret. The picture of a feathered dinosaur on page 184 is a fascinating illustration of how much our concept of dinosaur appearance has changed from the lizard-like creatures of years past.

The weakness of this book is the disorganized presentation of key concepts without the aid of charts and diagrams. Readers may want to try the more conventional and slightly dated, but simple and readable `Walking with Dinosaurs' by Tim Hanes based on the Discovery Channel, show for some background. The important positive contributions of `Unearthing the Dragon' are: 1) the exciting pictures of new fossils showing evidence of dinosaur feathers, 2) the concept that flight, feathers and birds are all separate and distinct concepts, 3) the idea that very many dinosaurs had feathers of some type and finally, 4) the picture of dynamic paleontologic research being carried out in China. Confounding our pre-conceived notion of China as a source of cheap out-sourced goods, we are shown Chinese scientists as worthy, peer collaborators in a fascinating academic field. This, no doubt, is the better way to think of relations with the future superpower.

5 out of 5 stars Unearthing the Dragon.......2007-03-08

The Pictures are lovely and the book is written to give you a feeling for the country of China and it's people. You can appreciate the materials that are found in China more intimately. I feel the author wants to show his enthusiasm for the country of China. since he is so involved there.

4 out of 5 stars I gave it a 4 due to the great photos.......2006-12-21

It is otherwise a 3. I agree with a lot of Linden's comments about this book, but it really could have used a strong editor to cut out some of the extraneous info (some of it reads like college guys bragging about how much they drank at last weekend's party) and use that space for more info on the discoveries in China. This would be a great gift for people who have an interest in other cultures and some interest in natural history but who don't like typical science books.

4 out of 5 stars Fossil-tastic!.......2006-08-17

Nice easy read - Norell interweaves an array of stories as well as plenty of excitement about the fabulous fossil discoveries. Made me wish that I'd been on the digs with him! Some of the full page non-paleo photography is a bit 'arty'- I would have preferred more shots of the finds.

Good book - reommended.

5 out of 5 stars Fascinating book.......2006-07-13

Not only is the discovery of feathered dinosaurs in Chinia very interesting but the author gives an excellant discription of life in China and the changes that occurring there. The photography and illustrations throughout the book are beautiful as well. I am looking forward to any new book that the author, Mark Norell, may write.

    Caught in a Cult

People associated with him have been killed, but Dr. Walter Simmons is a successful man. His books and tapes incorporate psychological principles with New Age, feel-good spiritualism and are a hit on college campuses. But when his top students join him for an intensive “training” program, they are actually joining a dangerous cult. Florida Department of Law Enforcement Agent Tim Porter’s daughter, Ruby, is lured in like the rest, the heights of a dream plummeting her to the depths of a living nightmare. Tim and his ex-wife are driven to their knees for their daughter. But what about Ruby? To what lengths can they go to rescue her from Dr. Simmons’s clutches? The Truth Chasers Book Two

A desperate escape into the South Florida marshes ends in murder.

But the true terror is just beginning…

Dr. Walter Simmons is a successful man. His books and tapes blend psychological principles with New Age, feel-good spiritualism and are a hit on college campuses. But when his top students join him for an intensive “training” program, they have no idea what awaits them. Not even the most insightful student of them all--Ruby Porter.

Tim Porter, an agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, knows his daughter is into something strange. He and his ex-wife grow increasingly concerned, but nothing they do or say helps. Then a young man is murdered, and the FDLE are assigned to the case. As Tim grapples for the truth, one fact becomes crystal clear: Ruby is in terrible danger. But can he do what it will take to rescue his daughter from a man she now trusts more than anyone else?

Faced with an FBI investigation, a corrupt chief of police, and a mounting spiritual battle, Tim hits obstacles at every turn. As each day goes by, he can’t escape the terrifying truth--His daughter’s time is running out…

Join the agents of the FDLE as they seek the truth behind the crime and wrestle with Truth in their personal lives. Dealing with depravity all day, every day, it doesn’t always seem like God is in control. Which just makes victory that much sweeter when it comes.

    Story Behind the Book

“One day, while driving with my family, I caught a glimpse of my children’s faces in the rearview mirror. I was struck by their innocence and unawareness of anything evil in the world. As a police officer, I was intimately acquainted with evil and wanted to keep my children far from such knowledge. But I knew someday they would leave the comfort and security of our home. And I wondered, Was I equipping them with the spiritual training they would need to face the world ahead of them? Was I truly raising my children in the ways of the Lord? What would I do if one of my children were in the clutches of the evil one? And how far would I go to get them back?”

    5 out of 5 stars A Captivating Read.......2007-03-21

I met Mark Mynheir at the Florida Christina Writers Conference several years ago and am captivated by his writing. His experiences on the streets as a cop and detective give him credibility as an author who has lived his scenes and, more importantly, his characters. From the Belly of the Dragon held my interest from the beginning to the end. As I read, I knew the characters and what motivated them. I could also identify with the struggles that each character encountered. I found myself going back into the story several times to double check seemingly minor bits of information - that were now important as the story moved forward. I like this attention to detail. Everything in this story is connected and moves the reader forward at a good pace. Important too is how Mark weaves the ending into one you will never guess.

    5 out of 5 stars Top notch edge-of-your-seat suspense.......2007-02-25

This is one of those books that I wish hadn't been lost in my stack. It was edge-of-your-seat fabulous! I love stories about people sucked into cults and the great lengths that have to occur to pull people out. That Dr. Simmons was a real nut case, but the author did a terrific job putting you in his head so you could see how twisted he was in the way he saw himself and the world. I loved it! Also, the close bond between the detectives and their camaraderie was endearing. I enjoyed reading about how they'd put their careers and even their very lives on the line to help a friend whose daughter was trapped in a cult. The father--for obvious reasons--was driven to get Ruby out before it was too late.

This story was fast paced and very, very interesting. The plot was well done and the scenery so vivid I felt like I was part of the group. Scary. Also, the spiritual warfare and truths that were brought into the light within the context of this story were compelling. Not preachy at all. And the way the people who were angry with God came to realize that they needed His help to succeed was done in a very convincing manner and did not feel contrived. I love fiction with such a realistic feel to it. Plus, this author used a variety of points of view, but it was done so seamlessly that I'm impressed with his technique. It wasn't at all obvious that there were multiple points of view. Every one of them seemed necessary to move the story along. Well done!

Also, one unique aspect of this riveting novel was the close relations and interdependency between people from different ethnic backgrounds. Byron and Ruby were so close in their relationship that I forgot he was white. In fact, I had to look back and double check because he was so easily accepted into the family once he helped Ruby. But that also made sense because Ruby mentioned growing up in all white schools most of her life, so it wouldn't seem like a big deal to her. At any rate, I was enthralled with this story and the romance between Ruby and Byron as well. I hope they get married someday. Maybe in the next book (if there is one?) Highly recommended!

    5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!.......2007-02-16

Mark Mynheir is an amazingly talented writer - who has found his niche! Known as the "Cop Writer", Mark weaves delightful and intriguing tales of all things Cop...and his background as an ex-Marine, a narcotics agent, a policeman, a S.W.A.T member, and a homicide detective make him more than qualified!

Don't miss reading his Truth Chasers Series!! You will not be disappointed.

    4 out of 5 stars A good book!.......2006-08-23

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is hot on the trail of Dr. Walter Simmons, a New-Age, free-thinking guru with a few skeletons in his closet. His bestselling books and new educational center would lead the public to think otherwise.

However, Agent Tim Porter has a personal stake in the case, because his daughter Ruby is one of Dr. Simmons' students in the leadership program. And he has the sinking feeling that his daughter is in grave danger.

With an unsolved murder, a missing person, and mysterious goings-on in the small town of Highpoint, this novel grabs the reader's attention right away and doesn't let go until the book is closed. The theme of spiritual warfare is not pushed upon the reader, but instead it is introduced gradually.

I have to say that at first, I was VERY put off by this book's cover. But I read it anyway, and I'm so glad I did! I was glued to it all day. I finished this book in one day, because the plot was so compelling and fast-paced, and the characters were very engaging, I couldn't put it down! I would never have chosen such a book because of the dark, sinister cover art, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The author, Mark Mynheir, is a police officer with experience in narcotics, SWAT team, and detective work. His law enforcement characters seem real without being stereotypical, and I found myself sympathizing with their dilemmas.

All in all, I'd wholeheartedly recommend this book for its fast-paced contemporary storyline and engaging and sympathetic characters.

Armchair Interviews says: Don't let the sinister cover art put you off from reading this good book.

5 out of 5 stars strong police procedural.......2006-08-16

With incredible sales success from his books and tapes, psychiatrist Dr. Walter Simmons has amassed a fortune. His ability to merge basic psychological concepts into an optimistic moral and spiritual holistic wholeness has made him extremely popular especially amongst college students. He currently invites his top (meaning alienated, lonely, or both) Florida State University students to a special "boot camp" training program.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Agent Tim Porter is worried about his daughter Ruby, who has been acting stage of late though her being at FSU and he being divorced from her mother, her prime caretaker, means he sees her infrequently. Still he mentions is concerns to his former wife and his partner John Russell. Soon he learn that Ruby is undergoing special training along with other students under the tutelage of Dr. Walter Simmons; special training that looks like a cult, acts like a cult, sounds like a cult; ergo a cult. How to free his daughter in a scenario in which the local police back the psychiatrist, the FBI demands he stay out so as not to taint their investigation of Simmons, and the charismatic doctor appears to have the spiritual edge that claims Ruby's soul is his quest.

The first "Truth Seekers" tale, ROLLING THUNDER, was a strong police procedural supported by an inspirational family drama with John as the star. This time Tim is the focus within a powerful family drama supported by a fine "unsanctioned" police procedural. The fast-paced story line grips the readers as John turns from concern to fear as he feels he is losing the soul war to his dynamic adversary. Fans will appreciate this deep insightful look at a cop willing to do anything including losing his job and team up with his ex-wife for the first time since before their split to save his child.

5 out of 5 stars An essential supplement for the Elric! game.......2000-05-01

This book is the Melnibonean supplement for Chaosium's Elric! roleplaying game, covering the history, geography, cities, magic, culture and peoples of the Dragon Isle. Especially useful is the in-depth descriptions and hints on playing Melnibonean characters (which is probably a staple fantasy of any Moorcock fan). The famous personalities of Melnibone are also discussed in more detail than the small sample in the main Elric! rulebook. In the last section of the book are three excellent short adventures to introduce the players to Melnibone. The first of the three, 'The Suffer Glass', captures the tone of Moorcock's novels especially well and is better than most of the gaming books published as individual adventures.

The writers have done a fine job of expanding seamlessly on the brief paragraphs describing Melnibone of Michael Moorcock's Elric books. This books provide an entertaining read for fans of the Elric series even if you don't actually rolegame since the book is light on game rules and heavy on descriptions. The only (minor) issues are the lack of detailed maps of the Dreaming City of Imrryr and some of the illustrations are not particularly inspired.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book - terrific addition.......2007-06-05

A beautiful book with over 100 pages of full-color maps of the "Kingdoms of Kalamar" campaign setting. All of the pages make up a portion of the map of Tellene, the world setting where Kalamar is based. This is fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) 3E and 3.5, and any future editions, because it is rules-light. It is just a very well designed atlas with a lot of information that will be playable and useable for years. One of the best features is that almost everything is reality-based. If you see it on the map in Kalamar, there is likely a real-world equivalent, or something comparable.

5 out of 5 stars PERFECT COMPLEMENT TO KINGDOMS OF KALAMAR.......2005-06-16

I recently reviewed the Kingdoms of Kalamar campaign setting book, one of the most detailed and comprehensive settings I've come across in 25 years of role-playing. Kenzer & Co., not content to rest on its laurels, have also provided a thorough and thoroughly enjoyable Atlas for the Kingdoms of Kalamar. The Campaign book came with two, large fold-out maps. The Atlas takes those maps, breaking them down into dozens of full page sections, and within each section, further divides them into grids which detail all of the cities, towns, and village within each tiny map section. Were shown a greater detail of the terrain and topography as well. About the first two-thirds of the book are dedicated to these full page maps.

From there we get into the appendices. These further define and shape the Kingdoms of Kalamar and the continent of Tellene. In Appendix A we get new maps which provide information on common trade routes, ocean currents, trade winds and air pressure systems, mineral deposits, industry, grain production, military deployments, and more.

Appendix B provides notes on pronunciation throughout the realms, Appendix C details the various land categories such as mountains, swamps, hills, lakes & rivers, etc... Other appendices delve into the various languages spoken on Tellene and where they are spoken. The last appendix charts every known city, town, village, or hamlet along with their population.

Combined with the Campaign setting book, this makes a wonderfully detailed world for players to adventure in. The designers have managed to give the GM a diversified and vigorous world, uniquely faceted, and yet ready for the GM to provide his own special touch. The maps are extremely well made and beautifully colored. The topography is accurate as well as the various notes on things like weather and currents. Few designers would think to include these items into their worlds. This is a handsomely illustrated 240 page hardcover book. A must have if you own the Kingdoms of Kalamar Campaign setting. Well done!

5 out of 5 stars If you love maps, this is the best Atlas ever........2005-03-05

Kalamar is the best game setting out there, but I was never satisfied with the maps in the Core book. This Atlas takes care of that. Basically the main map is sub devided into 100 or so beautifully rendered tiles with a scale of 1" = 25 miles. There are also a bunch of maps with trade routes, wind patterns, food production etc.
Why only 4 stars? I would have liked to see a globe with the unknown continents. I was a little upset that there were no temperature, flora or rainfall data, but then again I'm a map geek. Keep in mind that this book is all about the maps, if you are looking for a game aid or adventure ideas, look elsewhere.
