Customer Reviews:
A delightful, helpful book.......2006-08-15
After reading the widely disparate reviews, I got a copy from the library. I found the book to be delightful and helpful, and I have ordered a copy to own. I lead a complex life, producing beautiful, organized work but leaving debris around me as drafts, printouts, and other papers accumulate. The author is very understanding of the thought processes and problems of Accumulators and Paper Pilers. Her humor makes the task of organizing and disposing less of a chore. As a person with some ADD difficulties, often overwhelmed by distractions, I find her methods of working on little parts of a problem a big help.
Take it bit by bit.......2005-07-18
Clutter is often a result of having a busy life. Hence, it wouldn't make sense for a book intended to help you clear clutter to involve a lot of your time. The book is designed of short but extremely helpful tips, so that you can read only a little bit and take 15 minutes to fight clutter. In other words, it helps you keep from being overwhelmed by the daunting task of clearing your stuff. I've always been. and always will be, a packrat, but I'm a more organized packrat now.
Stands Well Above Others Like It.......2005-02-28
This book really changed my ideas about decluttering my life. It has great mix of psychological motivation and practical how-tos. After reading it front to back, I go back and pick it up to read specific sections every now and then. This book is practical, a fun read and helped me change my home for the better.
Cut the Clutter, Stow the stuff.......2004-03-10
I believe this book to be very helpful. IF you are not impaired in the ways of organization, then of course this book would have useless ideas for people who already know them. For those of us with this problem of not knowing how to organize, this book is great. It showed me how to organize space more efficiently, gave me a different outlook on how to use different rooms in my home and gave me some resources for what to buy for cabinets, closets and entryways. It is VERY helpful and full of all different advice in the way of organization. IT points out the psychological reasons we hoard things,,,,what type of clutter person you are and with that information helps you fight the habits that got you to the place where you needed to buy the book in the first place. Reading the other reviews, I believe them to unfairly put this book on a low level, seems maybe these people did not need the help to begin with??? It helps...it has major ideas and a lot of them in an easy to grasp format that is easy and pleasurable to read.
cut the clutter don't buy this book.......2004-02-20
I bought this book while I was living in America and have just gotten around to reading it.I wish I had not ,the pages are badly set out with to many side bars making it a pain to read .Also there is not enough good information in it to make it worth buying.A note to the editor if you produce this book for the British market you want to use another word than Tosser this is not a nice word over here and may offend some people.

Wiggling his way into your heart!.......2003-03-23
I. Q. is the pet rat of Mrs. Furber's class. But he longs to be much more. Along with the children, he is learning to count and spell. He has learned his colors, participated in the Thanksgiving play (a small role) and crafted Valentines. But the school year is soon ending and still I.Q. has not been named Student of the Week. What can he do to get Mrs. Furber's attention?
I.Q. wiggles his way into readers' hearts, and the book's illustrations delightfully document the goings-on of a classroom throughout the seasons.
I.Q. Goes To School.......2003-03-18
This book was a joy to read! My second grader loved the story as it goes through the whole year with events relating to what she has learned in school this year. I.Q. is adorable as he wants to become a student not just the class pet. I.Q. learns about the alphabet, colors, numbers and holidays along with students. But more than anything, I.Q. wants to be picked for STUDENT OF THE WEEK. When will it be his turn? This book is a great read and it will surely be a favorite with your children as it is with mine.
Great read aloud for first grade.......2003-03-07
Every first grade class will enjoy this joyful trip through the school year. This fits month by month with the first grade curriculum. I.Q. will be a welcome pet and student that children can relate to. This book is a joy to read and share.

Funny.......2007-10-09
If you like mad libs, this is a great one.
Classic fun, but with an adult twist
A Good Choice.......2007-09-08
MadLibs have always been a favorite of mine, from roadtrips to random entertainment, and "ready for landing" checks. I bought a bunch of these for a recent roadtrip and we laughed a lot at the different things we came up with. My suggestions i always to ahve one person come up with the random words, or just trading off throughout a carload or ...friendload... of people. Everyone with their own intentions tend to wildly adjust how the story plays out!
A classic, for ages to come, enjoy!
Book Description
Now, Yforum.com's creator offers a compelling book with real answers-from both everyday people and experts-for questions on even the most sensitive topics:
What do blind people "see" in their dreams?
Why do white people smell like wet dogs when they come out of the rain?
Why do so many gay men love The Wizard of Oz?
Do Catholics consider oral sex a sin?
Politically correct or not, these questions reflect natural, honest, human curiosity about the lives and experiences of other people. Nationally recognized diversity advocate Phillip Milano uses these and a host of other questions from his hugely popular Yforum.com website to present an unflinching, occasionally bizarre, and sometimes hilarious look at the taboo topics so many people wonder about-but usually don't dare ask.
Customer Reviews:
An adult treatment of delicate subjects and taboos.......2005-06-17
I call these sorts of books, "bon-bon books" because like a box of chocolates I find myself reading one piece and then another until pretty soon I find that I've read the whole darn thing!
This is a collection of questions and answers about delicate subjects from Milano's website, "Y? The National Forum on People's Differences." Some of this is a little too delicate for an Amazon review, but let me give it a try.
Do women (pass gas)? Replies range from "Of course..." (dodo brain) to "men tend to pass a higher volume of gas than women--about 120 cc (cubic centimeters) per passage to just 90 cc for women" while "women have a higher concentration of the dreaded hydrogen sulfide in their outbursts, which makes their odor intensity greater." So now you know. (But unmentioned is the inflammatory test beloved by adolescents with cigarette lighters...)
"Why do Christian networks and shows feature people with really big hair and lots of makeup and gaudy, overdecorated sets?" I always wondered that myself. According to one guy ("MIKE, 42, Humanist gay male), the target audience seems to be "trailer park trash" from the Bible Belt "where big hair and tons of makeup seem to never go out of style." Professor Anson Shupe from Indiana University adds that the Trinity Broadcasting Network, etc. have "done their polls and market research, and they know what sells" and "The big hair and ornate sets have a certain appeal to these televangelists' biggest audience segment: lower-middle-class, middle-aged females."
One more: "Is it true that when women are together they talk in much more graphic, detailed and intimate terms about sex and their sexual partners than men do?" Answer: it depend on who you ask, but according to Milano's expert, Aline Zoldbrod, "I think men like to imagine women having all these intimate discussions about their sexual relationships, but women are as private as men." Hmm. Another truism of my youth blown to smithereens.
The book is divided into nine chapters from "COLOR-BLIND: Race and Ethnicity" to "ON THE JOB: Work." Within the chapters are sections headed by a question, followed by some answers from people who responded on the website (e.g., "DEBBIE K., 29, married female"), concluded with what Milano calls a "Y?Check" in which he cites an authority or two on the subject at hand (or in hand, as the case may be). Tacked on to the end of the chapters are some questions they are working on, with no answers yet.
And, yes, SIZE does matter. (But you knew that.)
Bottom line: adult, levelheaded and informative, mostly PC, but not overly so with some chuckles and some surprises.
Entertaining..........2005-02-04
This is an entertaining book, filled with different people's perceptions on race, sexuality and culture. The format is simple: A question is asked and various people answer the question based on their experience. At the end of each question an 'expert' answers the question putting closure on the topic.
I was vastly entertained by the subject of sexuality, race and ethnicity. (Although some questions were somewhat silly... ) A reader wonders why "White People" (a generalization in itself), smell like wet dogs when they get wet. Huh? Anyway myths such as this are quickly debunked. Thank God.
Several sections I found less interesting. The section on disabilities, age, and class (a social and not biological construct) seemed common knowledge or to have so many variables that I found it difficult to be interested. Age is also another widely variable category. Sometimes the questions seemed a little off-kilter such as: "How come it seems that Teenagers are afraid to take care of AIDS patients?" Huh? I've never heard or thought of this as being a perception of teenagers. Teens come with variable responsibility levels as do adults.
Overall an excellent book. Sure to educate one on both our perceived and real differences. This could only be improved with a few more 'widely wondered' questions and an omission of a few of the more obvious ones. High entertainment value.
Stuff I'd never dare to ask.......2004-12-02
My brother passed me this book, and now I want to tell everyone I know about it. These are terrifying topics, many of which we wonder about but don't have the nerve to ask. Doesn't matter if you are looking at it to laugh-you will learn something. Not like from a text book, more like from talking to people, most of whom you'll never get to meet.
The material in the book speaks about his commitment to diversity and discussion, and knowing that he runs the yforum website shows it even more.
Have Fun While Opening Up Your Mind.......2004-11-27
This book exercises the most important part of the body -- the brain. It will stimulate your thinking about questions you have always wondered about, but were afraid to ask. I found myself laughing out loud, flinching with embarassment and saddened by our ignorance. Milano provides great balance by giving the reader both individual and expert opinions to our questions. I Can't Believe You Asked That! will contribute to your understanding of the concept of tolerance in our world today.
Gotta love the honest approach to tolerance!.......2004-11-10
I enjoyed reading this book. It is obvious that the author has selected the most sincere questions and responses from what must be a great collection of sticky material. Some topics are amusing, some heartbreaking, but all of them are honest.
Adding the opinion of experts on each topic provides a great summary, while still allowing the reader to ponder the question and arrive at his own conclusion, or at least arrive at a better understanding about persons different from himself.
We need this book, if for nothing else, than to open our minds to understanding, tolerance and acceptance.

"A Modern Day Masterpiece".......2006-01-10
There are probably hundreds of books in circulation which touch on this topic which are out of date and filled with down right ridiculous "1965" paper trip, "land you in jail" theories and practices. I am pleased to report that this book is absolutely brilliant from start to finish, mainly because it takes a modern skew on the subject and takes into account the country AT PRESENT. There are a few tricks in here which must be classics, but logically will still work taking advantage of loopholes in the country's ID creation/ verification systems. Rarely have I found a simpler, more practical and real world guide to this type of sensitive and heavily sought information. A must read for creative, highly imaginative thinkers who want to add fuel to an ever growing fire of knowledge on the subject, or novices who need to wet their proverbial feet in the mindset of the pros. The best part is this book was written after 9/11 (post fascist America), a huge plus in the book of this tripper. Takes you on a concise, almost comically simple journey through the fog of "terrorist minded government" America and the identity question within. 6 stars and a bunch of kudos from this camper.
Helpful but not comprehensive.......2005-02-18
While the author is clearly knowledgeable, this is not a comprehensive book on identity change. In fact, early on the author refers you to several other books of his as necessary foundation material. He makes getting a new Social Security number sound relatively easy, but a perusal of the SSA website shows that it takes years to build up the necessary documentation; and doing so can have nasty consequences as the new number has no credit history--thus no bank, credit card company, landlord, or employer will deal with you. Of course, this may be of secondary importance to one with a need to change identity.
Insider secrets that it helps to know........2004-03-24
This book helps you understand exactly how identification works. It describes the weak links in the chain of paper trails and how they might be exploited, that's true. On another level though, it can help you fix problems that might exist with your own identification. What if you were born at home to hippie parents who never made sure you got any kind of birth certificate or any other documentation at all? You exist in a kind of no man's land. What if you recognize that there are times you have to give out some kind of number for identification, but you don't want your SS number out there for all the world to see. Who knew there was an alternative? There are so many little tips in here...and sometimes you just wanna know how things work. The publisher Loompanics sends out the same day you order from 8003802230 or their site.

As fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation know, Q is the omnipotent extradimensional entity who so often causes whimsical havoc on the Starship Enterprise and elsewhere--for example, by helpfully introducing Captain Picard and his crew to the menacing Borg collective. Now this petulant demigod's first-person story is told by John de Lancie, the actor who plays Q, and Peter David, author of successful Star Trek novels. It's an irreverent romp through one bizarre scenario after another, as not only Star Trek's Federation universe but the entire multiverse of alternative timelines looks set to gurgle down a metaphysical plughole. Q's own wife and son vanish into the maelstrom, and his "Q Continuum" colleagues blither about calmly accepting apocalypse as a change from eternal tedium. Only Picard and Data the android accompany the questing Q, whose monstrous egotism and complaints that Picard never genuflects to him are barely affected when he loses his godlike powers and realizes that he may need mere humans. En route to the end of all things, they encounter other Federation characters, including Romulans, Klingons, Ferengi, and our captain's dread cyborg alter-ego, Locutus of Borg. After a fast-moving sequence of fights, wisecracks, insults, old jokes, and ultimate despair, the fate of the multiverse is ... but that would be telling. Frothy entertainment. --David Langford
Book Description
The enigmatic entity known as Q remains one of the great mysteries in the universe. Now actor John de Lancie, who has played Q on television for more than a decade, joins Peter David, the bestselling author of such acclained novels as Q-in-Law and Q-Squared, to send Q on an unforgettable cosmic odyssey told from the mischievous trickster's unique point of view.
The Maelstrom, a metaphysical whirlpool of apocalyptic proportions, is pulling all of reality into its maw, devouring time and space while bringing together people and places from throughout the universe. The Q Continuum pronounces that the end of everything has come, but Q refuses to meekly accept the end of all he has known. Defying the judgement of the Continuum, he sets out to derail doomsday -- whatever the cost.
Q has been everywhere and done everything, but now he's in for a cosmic thrill ride beyond even his own astonishingly unlimited imagination. Reluctantly assisted by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, can even Q prevent the Universe As We Know It from going literally down the drain? I, Q is a wild and witty voyage through the secret soul of creation -- as only Q can tell it!
Download Description
It was our universe's darkest hour. Spanning time and space, threatening the existence of all that ever was and all that ever could be, the over-cosmic being stood poised to destroy reality itself. All that stood between it and the ultimate catastrophe were Captain Jean-Luc Picard, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise -- and, of course, Q. In the tradition of Q-in-Law and Q-Squared, here is a memoir of Q's efforts to save the multiverse. John De Lancie, the actor who portrays Q on Star Trek: The Next Generation, joins forces with Peter David, the bestselling cocreator of Star Trek: The New Frontier, to conjure in I, Q a totally unique and engaging world view, enlivened by character insight that only De Lancie could provide. This brilliantly realized novel is a stunning exploration of the nature of reality itself.

Q: The best ever. .......2007-05-31
Q is both the straight line and the punchline of this book. It's one of those books that you keep around for when you're going off the deep end; it refreshes your sense of humor and your imagination.
Q at His Omnipotent Best!!!.......2007-04-16
As those of us who know and love (and sometimes, love to hate) the maddening Q already are aware, the genius behind this incredible character is the equally amazing actor John De Lancie and now he has graced us with his thoughts as an author writing for his most famous and fabulous creation. For those who must had been in a coma during the Star Trek Next Generation's run, Q is an alien species from which all of his kind are referred to as "Q" who have the powers of what any of us would consider to be a god and yet somehow our dear Jean-Luc Picard manages to treate him as if he were some lowly mosquito! Anyway, for me, Q has always been hands down the best and most creative character ever conceived on the Next Generation. Unplug Data and throw him in the toy chest; give me Q and his madness anyday!
In this book, our dear Q must somehow (with the help of his sometimes friend, sometimes dire enemy Picard) save the universe from destruction in a way that only an incredibly funny, witty, and ultimately soulful being like Q can. I don't want to give more away; this is truly a book that you must read with all of its twists and turns to fully enjoy. Buy this book tonight people!!! You won't be sorry!
Very Funny.......2007-04-07
You have got to love this book if your a star trek fan! Q is the greatest. The book came in on time and in wonderful condition.
This book is really FUN.......2006-04-29
I had so much fun reading this book that I felt like sharing it. If you want to have fun, read a fast paced book, with great action, buy this and enjoy. Of course this is not a Novell Prize thing, is just Star Trek. Q was perfectly brought to life, so don't let the other reviews prevent from reading this great story.
A Really Hard To Put Down Book! One Of My Trek Favs!.......2005-08-17
It being written by Q, John De Lancie himself makes this book essential to all Q fans. Who better to tell a story about Q than Q himself? And in the novel, the character Q tells the story, he gives flash backs of his past in this book. He says things like he is the one who first gave fire to man. This book is really great; some may not like it being that the only main characters in the novel are Q, Picard, and Data. If you are a fan of all or either of the 3, then get this book, it's really hard to put down!

The Dog I.Q. Test.......2004-09-03
Interesting, insightful, book that has questions designed to determine how observant, intuitive, intelligent your dog is as well as their social behavior. It also looks at the historical relationship between dogs and man. And, you can gain insight into your strenghts as a dog owner. I enjoyed it.
Really fun!! My dog is a genius! LOL!.......2002-01-16
I am the President of Angel Pups, an organization that trains kids (middle school and up) to work with their dogs and then takes them to visit nursing homes. For fun, last week we all did this IQ test together! We all laughed SO hard, some kids had tears streaming down their faces!! It is a blast to see how smart your dog is and what you can do to help them improve their intellectual capacity. This week we're doing the Owner IQ test!! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys working with dogs!!
Are you wondering how smart your dog is?.......2001-10-26
Fun and interesting book. Questions you will need you answer about you and your dog to see how your dog ranks among other dogs on the intellience scale.
For Everyone of Us Who Believes Dog is Smartest.......2001-04-14
Neat book for us dog lovers to examine our dog's intelligence and then let this data be added to the collection the author maintains.
She gives the findings of her research. So many interesting gleanings to be had from this work. We have used these now on three of our dogs, of two different breeds. Also, used the author's cat i.q. book. Cat is hands down the smartest, as we already surmised.

Educators Recommend.......2004-04-05
"Students, this is Library Week. Every day this week our class will be going to the library," announces Mrs. Furber. The class's pet mouse, I.Q., is thrilled. He's never been to the library before.
Once there, Mrs. Binder, the librarian, reads a funny book to the class. I.Q. thinks the story is hilarious and is determined to check out the book. Unfortunately, Mrs. Binder reshelves the book, necessitating a week-long hunt by I.Q. Each day, as the class returns to the library to learn about its many resources, I.Q. tags along. While searching for the funny book he makes delightful discoveries about the treasures the library holds. Finally, on Friday, he finds the book. With the help of Mrs. Furber, I.Q. obtains his very own library card and checks out his book.
The illustrations, done in pencil, gouache, and pen and ink, depict the many and varied resources found in the library while at the same time featuring the comical actions of I.Q.
Fraser does a superb job at subtly weaving an introduction to libraries and their use into this warm, funny, absolutely delightful tale.
We took this book into a kindergarten class and incorporated it into a lesson on using the school library. The students adored the book---as well as I.Q.---and asked for repeated readings. Highly recommended. (...)
learn about the library with I.Q the pet rat!!.......2003-11-15
I. Q. is the pet rat of Mrs. Furber's class. The class is having library week. Each day they visit the school library and learn something new about it. On Monday the class hears a funny story read aloud by the librarian. I.Q. wants to get his own library card so he can check the book out and read it again. Join him on his quest through the library to locate the book. This book is great to read aloud to young children who are learning about the library.
