Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

I need more and I need it soon!.......2006-10-16
I have been addicted to this series from the begining, and I love the way things seem to be slowly coming together for some monumental change for the strigoi and the Nighthawks. Clearly some of the Laws are out of date, unethical or both.
Yes, Jebel and Char may deserve better than what happens to them in this book, but these books are not romances! Sizemore writes vampire romances; read those if you are set on happy endings. They are much better than the average paranormal romances, in fact. But the LotB books are darker and grittier and I like that. I like the idea of some problems being a little bigger and more important than whether or not the two main characters wind up married, mated or Bonded at the end of the book.
HOLY S***...!!!.......2006-04-09
I can't believe how this book end! It REALLY turn my off from the series! The first four were still okay with my, but this...! How could the author do that to Char and Jebel and not get a thrashing review from me! I feel so bad for the both of them, especially for Char, even if they can get back together after a decade or so! Really, really bad. This book killed, destroyed, and massacred the whole series for me.
Not as good as the earlier books.......2004-04-14
I wasn't disappointed in this installment, but it could have been better. The ending leaves room for more action oriented tales in the series, which is the author's intended direction. I've said this in a review of another LotB book, but I really would like to read something that focuses entirely on Valentine's past.
Like the New Direction.......2004-02-14
Some other reviewers have complained that this book is "different" than the rest of the series, but I say Hurray! Heroes brings back characters from different books, which is a first (well, Jebel did make a guest appearance in Companions). It also reveals more about the world of the strigoi. I like the history, and I enjoyed learning about the tensions in vampire society. There's a feel of impending change in Sizemore's universe, and I look forward to finding out how it's going to come about.
Least Likable in the series.......2004-02-11
Susan's other Laws of the Blood books were much better and worth while reading. I was very disappointed to read this story after waiting for it to come out. Char deserved better, obviously we will be hearing more about her, Haven and Gregory in the next installment. I rather liked that each series was independent of each other.
Book Description
Jason Thanou of the Temporal Regulatory Authority had about had it with nursemaiding parties of ivory-tower academics through Earth's blood-drenched history, keeping them alive as they sought evidence for their pet theories. Of course, when one of the ivory-tower academics looked like Doctor Deirdre Sadaka-Ramirez, one last expedition didn't look like such a bad idea after all.. . . Besides, there was something to be said for witnessing the Santorini explosion of 1628 B.C.-the most cataclysmic natural disaster of human history, and the source of much of the mythology of Jason's own Greek ancestors. But once Jason and his companions were in the Aegean Bronze Age, unable to return to their own twenty-fourth-century time until a predetermined instant, they would find that there was more to those old legends of gods and heroes than anyone had imagined. For the gods were very real-horribly so. And dealing with them took very real heroes.

Excellent superhero game system..........2007-05-07
The Blood of Hereos Special Edition is a superhero role-playing game, and is in effect a revamp of the DC Heroes 3rd Edition rules-set, with the authors own (non-DC) universe added as a setting since they did not have a license for the DC Universe material.
The setting material is of fair but passable quality, but in this reviewer's opinion the real gem in this book is the updated and expanded rules: the rules system, based on the "MEGS" (Mayfair Expontential Gaming System) system used in the earlier DC Heroes role-playing games, has been expanded and improved upon, with many new powers added, many powers altered to make them more balanced, and features better explanations of most powers that help one better understand the intended use of each power. The game adds several useful new combat maneuvers, a good set of "genre" rules to customize your campaign theme, and related items that enhance the game. Once you get used to the system, combat can be processed very fast; much faster than with, say, the Hero System/Champions rules. The rules do an excellent job of re-creating the 'cinematic' style of the 4-color comics.
The setting, as mentioned above, is of the authors own unique universe. While it has some interesting aspects and may appeal to some players, the universe setting is not of the same quality as the rules, and simply does not compare well against the DC or Marvel universes. Still, the gamemaster and players can make use of parts of this universe, and some of the NPCs listed can be worked into their campaign with minor changes.
I would highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to run or play a superhero genre game.
The Supers are Back!.......2006-07-11
This game rocks! It is my favorite after I lost every DC heroes product I had about 10 years ago to a buddy who in turn lost the game when I wanted it back.
This game is 3rd edition redone I would say 4th edition DC, just without the DC stuff but you can easily add it if you like. Personally I like playing it without the DC universe anyhow, the system is so great, you can create any universe you like with it.
Get it NOW!
A Solid Supers RPG.......2005-12-06
Ok, I have played this game before in both the Blood of Heroes and DC Heroes 3rd edition (which both use the MEGS system). The system falls apart at low power levels (Batman, Joker, Green Arrow, etc...), but handles high power heroes (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Super Man) well. It's an average system , difficulty wise and fun to play with the right GM (as are most RPGs)
The design for this game system was done in the 80s and it is wearing a little thin. With the release of Mutants & Masterminds and Hero System 5th Edition, I feel that this system has been left behind. Special Edition does address some issue that the original release had, but it is too little, too late.
Best superhero game out there. Period........2003-06-25
Other than Godlike, I've seen every damn SHRPG out there, and they all suck. The rules are too heavy (Champions), the system is inherently flawed (Abberant), or you feel like you need to do the hokey-pokey (MSH). DC Heroes (the same product as this) changed my mind about the entire genre. MEGS definately hit the nail on the head when it comes to SH gaming. My only prob is this: the new rules in BoH are sometimes fraudulent (fake new powers that any moron could have made out of the old powers, and the fact you can now play villians-the worst gaming experience possible. Imagine robbing a bank, only to fight superheroes, then robbing another bank. There's barely anywhere to go). Still beats the pants off the other SHRPGs, so I give it the highest praise.
It May Not Be The Perfect Superhero Game, But It's Close.......2001-09-19
In the old days, back when we only had the New Kids on the Block as a boy band, and there were only two brands of Star Trek, Classic and New Trek, Mayfair came out with the Mayfair Exponential Gaming System. A sleeker, more streamlined, play-wise, version of the Champions game - though it's easier to build your own Champions character.
However, MEGS has far more comprehensive rules for roleplaying, suggestions for awards, and lovely things like hero points for last ditch efforts, and its powers are even more customizable than Champions, if such a thing is possible. The Blood of Heroes adds even more refinements to what weaknesses there were.
My only complaint was that they always wrote Superman as impossible to touch, especially when the dude had the Superspeed Power which accounted for his extreme dexterity stunts. Give this game a try. You'll find it's worth it, especially for the exciting new characters.
Customer Reviews:
A horrible book!.......2007-03-29
The art was ok and the writing was ok... however the plot was pathetic!!! It was one of the worst crafted books I have ever read. Batgirl and Robin fight to the "death" to get out of being trapped by the Penguin. Which while not very clever wasn't dumb... but then Robin shoots Batgirl supposedly in a non-vital area... err... what? After he shoots her they both leap up and fight there way to freedom. What? Why didn't you just do that in the firstplace? There wasn't any reason and now Batgirl has a sucking chest wound as they escape. They have officially run out of ideas and instead of trying to come up with something clever they decided to come up with something stupid. Like a mystery novel where the end solution had nothing to do with what happened in the book... if you like trite simple stories or are suffering from major brain damage this is a plot that you can really wrap your mind around. Otherwise... avoid this book like the plague.
Great Bat-Family Reading.......2006-10-11
I've liked Tim Drake as Robin ever since he came on the scene and saved Batman from The Scarecrow. I thought he was a cool Robin and he's really grown as a character.
I've liked Cassandra Cain as Batgirl ever since I picked up the first issue of her series mostly because he costume looked really cool (I love the whole stitched over mouthpiece thing)!
So putting them together in their own comic book (well, not really their own comic book but their own city), seems like a great idea! And it pays off. Paring the post-Identity Crisis/War Crimes Robin with Batgirl makes for a dark and great tale of loss and finding a way to move on. Fresh Blood is about hiding from all of the things that are bothering you and being surprised when those things follow you along just the same. We can't hide from our sorrows - they are part of us. And both Robin and Batgirl find this.
What I really liked was Robin's fight against becoming Batman! This characterization just goes further to prove how cool a character he really is! Add to that Batgirl's desire to be nothing but be exactly like Batman and... well, you got the makings of a whole lotta fun!
Pretty good.......2005-11-05
I thought that the book was really interesting how it went about explaining Batgirl's handicap with books. I know that Robin is younger than her, but at the end of the book they should've kissed. They were physically really close to eachother, they really should've kissed. Most of the pictures were good, but when they showed Robin's dad and girlfriends, that was messed up. I didn't like the drawer's style.
My opinion.
Customer Reviews:
Where are the incredible fights?.......1999-05-04
The new generation is a great replacement for the old mechwarriors of the Gray Death Legion, mixing them with veterans like McCall just to spice things a little (McCall is too good to be missing). BUT, almost 3/4 of the book are just talk, and planning, and guessing, etc. I know all what surrounds a mech confrontation (I'm a player), and I don't need more than 200 pages to remind me. Where are the great fights that draw our hearts to the Gray Death Legion? Except for Davis Clay, the rest are just faceless warriors. And to make things worst, the book does not end, and doesn't tell you where is the second part (by the way, does somebody know so I can buy it?) If you want to know all the activities that surround a mech battle (in detail, I assure you), read it, if not, well, is better to grab a board and a couple of dice and start blowing away some armor.
Great series.......1998-11-11
I loved the Price of Glory, and Blood of Heroes was a great continuation of the adventures of the Gray Death Legion. I liked the shift of main characters, going from Grayson and Lori to their son Alex, McCall, Caitalin, and DeVillar. Alex is a good character, although he's kind of a spaz in a mech, with the slugging match he takes his Archer into against a Battlemaster. Not too bright. I loved the book, and I can't wait for more.
Terrific!.......1998-08-05
For all of us Battletech fans, this is MUST read, especially if you're a true fan of the Gray Death Legion. After reading 'The Price of Glory', I thought I'd never hear from the Gray Death Legion again, but low and behold, they are back and with a vengenace. This book gives a great rundown of the second Skye Rebellion from the 'little mans' point of view. BUY IT!
This is one hot title..........1997-09-27
I thought that this book was incredible good. I have to admit that it was a little slow in the begining(I've found very few that aren't), but after about the second chapter it picks up and keeps on going. It was well thought out with all those Mech's that you love but it also made you really think about the price war takes on a command...
Book Description
Jason is a young warrior in training -- and yet there's more to him than his simple appearance might suggest. Raised by the wise centaur Chiron and believing himself an orphan, Jason discovers that his true identity is not the only secret his guardian has been keeping. What he learns sends Jason and five of Chiron's other apprentices on a dangerous journey to save the kingdom of Iolcus from a horrible fate.
In a daring race against time, Jason and his companions must bridge yawning chasms, battle vicious harpies, navigate their way down treacherous rapids, and outsmart marauding centaurs. Surpris-ingly, Jason's greatest challenge comes from within, for becoming a great leader proves to be the most difficult task of all.
In another thrilling adventure that imagines Greek heroes as young men and women, Jane Yolen and Robert J. Harris explore the early years of Jason, before he led the Argonauts on one of the most famous quests in Greek mythology.
Customer Reviews:
Romping Good Fun! .......2006-12-12
This is my fourth read in the Young Heroes series by Yolen & Harris and while Odysseus and the Serpent Maze is still my favorite, Jason and the Gorgon's Blood comes in a close second and all are good, entertaining reads...glimpses into what might have been in the young lives of the famous heroes of Greek mythology. It is humor that makes the difference in which I find more entertaining...each book in this series has slightly less humorous moments and more drama/conflict, that's not to say that this book is devoid of the humorous touches that abounded in Odysseus, it's that there are less of them. Jason and the Gorgon's Blood is more action/adventure and has more human drama and conflict than any of the previous three books. As the story starts out Jason and Chiron's other students are in hot water for riding through town drunk on the back of pigs...a boyish prank that earns them the punishment of taking a day's journey (hung-over) to fetch herbs for Chiron.
Right from the start we get to the heart of the conflict that runs through the book, two of Chiron's students are princes (Acastus and Admetus), Idas and his brother Lynceus (long sight) , Melampus of Pylos (reputation as a seer, naturally) set off arguing about who is in charge and with Acastus trying to shirk his part of the task, playing on his princely origins...what's clear is that each is a bit full of himself (except Jason, of course), thinks little of Jason, and that Acastus above all of them is scornful, spoiled, shallow, and arrogant beyond belief. Each of the boys has faults, but it's clear that this tale is meant to focus on the building conflict between Jason (true heir of Iolcus) and Acastus raised from birth as the Prince of same. The arguing boys are nearly done in by centaurs they encounter, but thankfully they become distracted and leave the boys relatively unharmed. The truth behind this initial contact is made clear when the group returns to Chiron's cave and find him bloody and beaten, near death.
These young men almost immediately set out on a journey to stop the centaur's evil plot to kill all the humans using Gorgon's blood that Chiron was safekeeping. Before leaving on the journey, Chiron tells Jason the truth about who he is, which turns out to be a central conflict as the story progresses. Jason leads this unruly band of adventurers over the mountains, encountering Hera's wrath, harpies, and an army of centaurs...but most importantly the very real human element conflict within themselves and with each other as each vies for the power and glory of leading (the struggle for "right" to lead and "ability" is nearly constant here) in the end, each finds growth as individuals by learning to use one another's strengths and working together toward a mutual goal of saving human kind from the wrath of the centaurs.
Overall, this is a fast-paced, romping good adventure, worthy of being the predecessor of the Argonauts where these boys must rely on skill, cunning and the favor of the Gods to achieve success in their task. The drama is heart-felt and poignant (in places) and the dangers believable, I give it an A+...there is humor and drama in the conflict between Jason and Acastus...but also growth and respect in the end...certainly, both of these boys walk away from the adventure with a new respect for themselves and each other...but the same can also be said of all the adventurers in this tale. The die is cast for the adventures yet to come (with brief appearance of Argo in a humorous look at his future) and we enjoy a brief look at what might have been for Jason and his youthful adventures. I for one certainly hope that Yolen & Harris write more for the Young Heroes series, truly enjoyable!
"Blood"-y good.......2004-06-01
The fourth volume of Jane Yolen and Robert J. Harris' Young Heroes series is perhaps the best so far, with its thrilling plot and excellent characterization. "Jason and the Gorgon's Blood" gives an extra dimension to the mythical hero, while giving readers a likable underdog to root for.
Jason and a bunch of other boys are apprenticed to the wise old centaur Chiron. One day a bit of misbehavior gets them all sent on an errand, only to return to find that Chiron has been beaten almost to death -- and two mysterious jars have been stolen from him. He reveals to Jason that the jars hold the Gorgon's blood; one can cure anything, even raise the dead, and the other is a potent poison. He also reveals that Jason is the rightful heir to the city of Iolcus, which fellow apprentice Acastus is prince of.
Now a horde of nasty centaurs have stolen them, and it's up to Jason and his fellow apprentices to find the jars before Iolcus is destroyed. But the boys don't know enough about the dangers ahead of them: harpies, angry goddesses... and Acastus himself, secretly plotting to kill Jason. Jason has to somehow whip the boys into a cooperative team, before the army of centaurs can use the Gorgon's blood for themselves.
The Young Heroes series is an interesting idea in itself -- Greek heroes and heroines shown as uncertain teens. And Jason's gradual journey is a solid, pulse-pounding one, hinting at his future adventures with the Argonauts. It has the basics of the other books -- god cameos, monsters, hints of the adult lives of the heroes -- but somehow it's a bit smoother this time around.
Yolen and Harris's writing is detailed and fast-moving. There are a few nuggets of humor thrown in, but overall the tone tends to be grim. And of course, Greek mythology buffs will be delighted by the cameos by such characters as harpies, Chiron the centaur, Argos the shipwright and Alcestis (who makes an appearance in some myths about Hercules).
The relationship between Acastus and Jason is excellent. Jason is struggling both to keep himself alive and to be a leader, knowing that Acastus wants him dead. Acastus, on the other hand, grows from being a brat prince to being a conflicted young man who respects Jason. That theme of gradual friendship under fire is freshly written.
"Jason and the Gorgon's Blood" is an intense, intriguing look at the early life of one of the greatest Greek heroes of legend. An excellent read.

Customer Reviews:
Great book for teens.......2006-03-14
This is an adventure novel for teenagers and pre-teens set in the Florida backwoods. Harley, the protagonist, learns lessons about life and love as he helps his grandfather investigate the murder of a hired hand. One reviewer said, "this is the best book I've read about Florida since Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings." I would recommend it to anyone, especially pre-teens and teenagers.
