Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

This is a very excellent informative book on how to groom. I highly reccomend it!
NOT TO INFORMATIVE.......2006-10-13
NICE BOOK IF YOU ONLY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO BATHE, TRIM EARS OR CLIP NAILS. DOESNT TELL YOU WHAT SIZE ATTACHMENTS TO USE OR WHAT PART OF THE BODY TO USE THE DIFFERENT ATTACHMENTS.ITS BETTER IF YOU HAVE A POODLE, MORE PAGES DEVOTED TO IT. ONLY ONE PER OTHER DOG!
good for groomers not Kennel Clippers.......2006-03-24
IF you need a book to learn how to start Kennel clipping, do not buy this one.
IF you want to be a groomer in a city and work in someone else's shop then go for it.
I do strip clips and summer clips so this book was not very helpful to me in that area.
Not great, but not bad either........2005-12-12
I use this book for my clients to look at while picking their dogs new hair cut. The book leaves out some breeds but covers most, and has faily good drawings. There still are better books out there.

The Most Beautiful Story I have ever Read.......2007-09-15
My son had to read this book for school and since it was short, I read it with him. I still, to this day, cry when I remember the ending of this beautiful and heart-wrenching story. One of the best children's (and parent's) books ever written.
A must for older children who love dogs!.......2007-06-08
Little Willy and his dog, Searchlight, have a very special bond. When Willy needs to run the race of all races, Searchlight gives it his all. The two of them are up against Stone Fox, who has never lost a dog sled race! Compassion and "doing what is right" concludes this heartbreaker! The ending leads me to suggest this for ages 8 and older. It leads to a great book-talk. A wonderful family read-aloud!
Stone Fox/ByJames Wineteer.......2007-05-26
John Reynolds Gardiner
Stone Fox is about a kid trying to save his grandpa's farm.. He went back inside checked his grandpa's room and he was lying there still looking at the ceiling. Doc. Smith came to the house and checked grandpa she said the he is if he wanted to, but there's a point where people give up on healthy as an ox. She said that he could live up to a hundred years old.
The nixed day Willy checked the money box. Willy found nothing he didn't no that they were broke. There was a man that came to the door and he was with the state of Wyoming. He said if you don't make payments you will loose the ranch. Little Willy wanted to help out so he went to the bank to get his college money. His grandpa said know but he disobeyed. When Willy went to town he saw a flyer that said National Dogsled Race held in Jackson Wyoming. Little Willy went to go sine up for the race entry fee was five dollars. They said that he would win. There was a man a man named Stone Fox he wins every race he's in. He is a tall man full blooded Indian. He hate white man they took his family land. He wins the races so he can by it back.
many cliffhangers and exiting parts.......2007-04-19
This is a book that will make you not sleep at night and will be on your mind all day.It is also similar to a book called UP IN THE NORTH.This book is exiting becaos of it's cliffhangers like when a man pointed a gon at Willy and it ended the chapter.
Stone Fox is a Must Read! .......2007-04-02
Gardiner has created a powerful story of determination and heartache in his book, Stone Fox. This book is appropriate for children in third through sixth grade and it will appeal to young boys and animal lovers. The struggles and experiences that Little Willy must go through to help his family presents a real-life connection for readers. The few black and white drawings in the book help readers to visualize the story. The action in the story builds quickly to keep readers interested. Although it may be hard to believe that an amateur ten-year-old boy could come that close to winning a dog sled race with one unexperienced dog when competing against an experienced man with a team of 5 dogs, the story provides a sense of pride and accomplishment to young readers by highlighting the character building scenarios that Willy has gone through and his determination to help his family. Additionally, while the ending is unexpected and sad, the mood is lightened by the kindness of the competitors in the race.

Book Description
Balto has a quiet life as a sled dog—until tragedy strikes. Dozens of children in Nome become sick with diphtheria. Without antitoxin serum, they will perish—and the closest supply is 650 miles away! The only way to get the serum to Nome is by sled, but can the dogs deliver it in time? Heading bravely into a brutal blizzard, Balto leads the race for life.

Customer Reviews:
Great Book!.......2005-05-01
Just so you'd know, this book is not denouncing Togo. It is merely telling Balto's side of the story. And it is a courageous one taht deserves to be well-known. There.
One day, a serious diptheria epidemic breaks out in Nome. Sled dogs are selected to deliver serum to the town before time runs out. Will they succeed?
This compelling book tells the story of Balto's brave and graet contribution to this race (he never tried to claim all the credit!), and I would recommend it even to Leonhard Seppala, so he would stop despising Balto, but sadly, he is now dead.
Great book for introducing the Iditarod to children.......2005-04-01
If you love the Iditarod and you want your children (or children you're fond of) to be introduced to this great race, the story of Balto and the Great Race by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel is a good place to start, beginning with the cover illustration by Nora Köerber. This book is a Stepping Stones chapter book with black and white illustrations throughout.
At the beginning of the book is a map of Alaska showing the Iditarod railroad and dogsled trail, along with some illustrations depicting the basic story of this great race against time to get much-needed diphtheria serum to Nome in 1925.
Balto is a Siberian husky born to run, and to lead. He guided his musher, Gunnar Kaasen, into Nome on the final leg of the journey, when only this magnificent dog could sense the way through a terrible, deadly blizzard with no trail to follow and wind at such strength it tossed Kaasen and dogsled into the air, almost losing their precious cargo. A short time before this near disaster, Balto saved the team from going through the ice to certain death. His instincts were in the realm of the supernatural and his devotion to the task at hand human in awareness.
It states on the back cover that this book is for children in grades 1-3. As the Cleveland Museum of Natural History states on the same back cover, "Balto's story is one of courage, cooperation and inspiration, and personal sacrifice for the greater good."
Carolyn Rowe Hill
Balto: not just for kids.......2002-01-27
We purchased this book after seeing the real Balto (courtesy of the art of taxidermy) at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Our quest in Northeast Ohio, where Balto enjoyed his senior years, was prompted by my seven year-old daughter's love-affair with the animated film about this dog, who navigated a lost sled team carrying life-saving medicine through Alaska in 1925. I hereby confess publicly that, after myself reading the book, which is aimed at the 9 year-old set, I cried, much as I had done 35 years before after reading "Lassie Come Home." This account, however, is much more compelling than "Lassie" or "Old Yeller," because it entirely factual (possibly excepting the subjective thoughts imputed to the protagonist).
The author did her homework researching this story about a sled dog who was just one of the pack facing poor odds against daunting weather and unrequiting expanses of blinding snow and ice. When the alpha dog loses the trail, and another refuses to lead, the team turns to Balto to bring them and their cargo safely to rest in Nome.
Perhaps Balto deserves an authentic, grown-up biography, but this one will serve in the meantime. It appears to be the definitive account.
A teacher in PA.......2000-05-03
This is an excellent book if you are interested in the Iditarod race in Alaska. The book helps young children understand the importance of perserverence and is a great introduction to history for the very young (6-8).A true story that inspires people to understand the bond between animals and people.

Like Michael Herr's Dispatches, Robert Stone's National Book Award-winning novel
Dog Soldiers trades on a hallucinatory vision of Vietnam as a place in which all honor and morality are ceded to the mere business of survival -- and, better, survival with personal profit. "This is the place where everybody finds out who they are," says the novel's protagonist, the journalist Converse, to which his friend and partner in crime Ray Hicks replies, "What a bummer for the gooks." Converse convinces Hicks to smuggle a shipment of heroin back to the United States, renegade CIA agents pop up, and all hell breaks loose in this beautifully written, dark study of the soul in anguish.
Book Description
In Saigon during the waning days of the Vietnam War, a small-time journalist named John Converse thinks he'll find action - and profit - by getting involved in a big-time drug deal. But back in the States, things go horribly wrong for him. Dog Soldiers perfectly captures the underground mood of America in the 1970s, when amateur drug dealers and hippies encountered profiteering cops and professional killers - and the price of survival was dangerously high.
Customer Reviews:
A Time Capsule for the 60s in decline.......2007-03-06
Dog Soldiers chronicles the promise of the 60s going hideously hay wire. As the flower generation shifts from pot to heroin, the ugly nature of the drug trade, which we know full well now, emerges: corrupt officials, crooked cops, addicts and dealers and violence. This novel captures the wonderful cadences of hippy language. Once the reader gets beyond the seeming cliché of so many `far outs' on its pages, the musicality of the language is apparent; Stone had an excellent ear for dialogue, and quite an incisive wit. All his characters, but especially Converse, express themselves with a minimum amount of words, and much of it slang, but to strong effect.
Michael Herr meets Jim Thompson.......2007-01-10
I read this novel after Richard Ford mentioned that Robert Stone was one of his favorite authors, someone who in his mind best deserves the accolade of "getting Vietnam right." Or at least, I thought he said something like that.
Stone is again pretty famous because he has come out with a memoir of his time in the counterculture -- Prime Green -- and that certainly colored my time with this novel.
Stone offers a lot of story in this novel. This is no aching reflection. It is not about peering through drawn shades on to a street in Vietnam, like Kurtz in Apocalypse Now. It is a thrill ride of a drug deal gone horribly wrong.
I suppose that desperation opens well into the moral ambiguities where these characters live. In each of the three main characters -- Ray Hicks, John Converse, and Marge Converse -- their lives have taken a break from normalcy. In Vietnam, Converse runs with a crowd of two faced brothel owners and press corps types. Back in the states, its more of the same: everyone is grifting -- from the police officers to the hippie commune leaders.
My favorite part of this book was the description of the odd stories that Converse wrote while working for his father in law at a second rate tabloid newspaper. "Hungry Skydiver Eats Woman," was a title, I think: that makes sense, in a way, because before he was famous, Stone made a living covering wrestling for local newspapers.
I am glad I read this book. It seems like it was an important story when it came out. I feel glad to have stumbled upon it. I thought I was going to get something historical, and it turned out to be a yarn and a half.
Thanks, Jorn!.......2006-08-12
I read about this book on Jorn Barger's website, in the section in which he recommends books. This book is on a par with Conrad and Hemingway. Intensity of mood meshes with character development and descriptions of people, actions, places, weather on a particular day, crowds in different countries, literary allusions. There are a few pages on which a little jargon is used: most English-speakers who grew up in an English-speaking country and don't live in a cave will "get" them. A few were even over my head, and I'm not only a native English speaker but a native Californian, who grew up in the 70s drug culture, so I should get all of them (there are about three or four things I didn't understand). But even if you don't know what place June is referring to when she says "P.V" (it's Puerto Vallarta), these few phrases shouldn't detract from your enjoyment of one of the greatest American novels. IMnotatallHO, this book beats anything I have read by David Foster Wallace, T. Coraghessan Boyle, Don DeLillo, or anyone in the McSweeney's crowd.
DON'T TAKE HEED OF ANY REVIEWS OF THIS BOOK WRITTEN BY DISGRUNTLED IOWAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO HAD TO WRITE A REVIEW OF IT FOR A CLASS.
[Oh yeah: why I gave it one star: I like to give my reviews one star, because then discerning people will read them. I myself usually avoid reading five-star reviews as they are almost always mindless gushing - give me some juicy, bitchy opinionated ranting over simpering tepid praise any day!
On the Dveej-o-meter, Dog Soldiers gets a 9.6 out of 10.]
A unique take on the Vietnam era.......2003-11-20
After reading Tim O'Brien's "Going After Cacciato", I was sort of in a Vietnam-themed reading mood. I heard that Robert Stone, who had apparently been a companion of Keruoac, had written a dark adventure novel called "Dog Soldiers" that won the National Book Award. After reading the Biography.com description of Robert Stone and his "carefully crafted" books, I decided to give it a try.
For the most part, the book lived up to my expectations. It is indeed very exciting and pessimistic, but I did have trouble with some parts. One of the characters actively practices Zen at great length, but I didn't know much about that subject so much of that character was difficult to understand. Also, much of the discussion of drugs is written in a vernacular I'm not very familiar with, so a great deal of that was also difficult to understand. Aside from these shortcomings (which I know were largely my own), I would give the book five stars.
Disappointing.......2003-06-27
I'd read a lot about how prescient Stone was about the drug trade and American involvement abroad, so I picked this book up, excited about a literary author who actually seemed interested in getting the reader's blood pumping. In any case, I was disappointed: I'm not sure how novel this was when it appeared in the 70s, but many of its scenes have become standard cliches of the movies - the torture scene, the bags of drugs, the shootouts in precarious and picturesque locations.
Perhaps it isn't fair to criticize a book for how much it's been imititated, but a genuine work of art shouldn't lose much of its lustre just because of mediocre followers, and I found myself genuinely bored by a great deal of Dog Soldiers. The only scene that showed the talent of the author was the surreal conversation between the central character and his slightly crazy mother. I haven't read A Flag For Sunrise or any of Stone's other books, but I'd certainly try those before this one.

Book Description
Bobby Quinn is shy. In fact, he’s so shy, he has trouble making friends. But that changes when he gets a squirmy little puppy for his birthday. Unlike Bobby, Lucy isn’t shy at all. And to his surprise, she keeps dragging him into all sorts of adventures—and friendships, too!
“Depicted with humor and realism. . . . The respectful attention given to their peer’s difficulties and progress will be much appreciated by newly and almost independent readers.”—The Bulletin
“Bobby’s fears of new people and situations are skillfully captured, and the story is entertaining and well plotted. Bobby is an endearing character, and he and his dog are an appealing combination.”—School Library Journal

Finally a breakthrough into chapter reading!!.......2001-08-01
I've tried, unsucessfully, a number of times to introduce my son to chapter books. He is only four, but will be turning five soon. I wanted him to experience the imaginative process of developing an image in his mind from what he hears. This is the first book that has held his interest. He can't read it himself but I can see his face change expression as he listens - I know his mind is at work. We always only read one chapter at a time, drawing the story out. He always can recall the story up to the starting point and is anxious to hear another chapter. I feel like the "magic" of books has been taken to a new level for our little reader - what an amazing thing to see.

Book Description

Smasher is always getting into trouble, whether it's chasing chickens, chewing up Mrs. Buzzard's slippers, or breaking all her china. Now she wants to get rid of him. Can Farmer Buzzard find a way to save him? Or is Smasher in the doghouse...for good?
Customer Reviews:
An unfunny, out of date story about a kindhearted, grammatically-challenged country farmer and his unintelligent dog.......2006-11-30
Farmer Buzzard and his wife are a hick-talking couple whose silly unintelligent dog provides little entertainment and zero laughs in this outdated chapter book designated, of all things, as "Humor." When a litter of pups is born, Smasher, looking nothing like the others, is told by Mr. Buzzard, "Kindest thing I could do for you...would be to knock you on the head," and is described as looking like a "freak." He reiterates his plans to his wife, "I shall have to knock him on the head," and explains the dog's primary flaw as being, "Ugly as sin." Later, after Smasher's first bout of naughtiness, Mrs. Buzzard informs her husband, "He wants a beating, he does, to teach him a lesson," and although no beating is given, Mr. Buzzard tells Smasher's mother, "You ought to have learned him better." Smasher again shows his colors true colors when he steals a leg of lamb (which he takes to the sofa to consume), urinates on the sofa (the armchairs too), chews the baubles off the bedspread fringe, and commits other infractions too numerous to include, after which the farmer secretly imprisons the dog in a field barn, where he attempts to teach him some manners. Through dumb luck, Smasher eventually saves the day. This book is inappropriate for its target audience, probably second grade level readers. In addition to the constant use of offensive, stereotypical hillbilly-like speech, violence (in thought if not in action), and ridiculous dog behavior, a word that rhymes with "witch," meaning "female dog," and used twice, should provide the ultimate deterrent.
