John Lucht, an executive recruiter during the past three decades for some of America's top corporations, knows what it takes to snag a new six-figure job. Rites of Passage at $100,000 to $1 Million+ is his newly revised guide to the ins and outs of a search for a job that ends in success. It promises a "comprehensive cram course in accelerating your career"--a contemporary corporate equivalent of the traditional initiation into adulthood from which it takes its title--updated for the cyber-age. And it delivers, with Lucht offering inside tips on the basic routes to a new executive-level position: personal contacts (i.e., "ask for a reference instead of a job"); networking ("never fail to get into the office of anyone whose name is mentioned to you, never depart with less than three new names"); executive recruiters ("understand their hidden financial arrangements"); direct mail ("write to the CEO or a person two levels above your target job"); and the Internet ("insert plenty of the right 'keywords' so that the computer will find your resume"). Extensive online references are also included throughout, and the material is presented in a way that's easy to understand and implement. --Howard RothmanBook Description

Christian Book Previews.......2004-07-24
As a 14 year guy, this book encouraged me to be a godly man and leader in this world. Morley used illustrations from his own life as examples of what to do or what not to do. He stated that men want to have a mission in life. If there is no mission, there is no life. God designed men to be protectors. A man cannot be a protector and a jerk at the same time.
Morley is a popular speaker in my area in the Midwest for men's retreats and his books are frequently used in men's Bible studies. The Young Man in the Mirror could be a Bible study opportunity for older men to mentor the next generation.
The Young Man in the Mirror instructs teenage boys how to live honorably. I tend to be a reluctant reader, but didn't have any trouble getting through this book. I passed my copy on to my friend. I recommend The Young Man in the Mirror for all young men and older men who act young. --

Illuminata: Thoughts, Prayers, Rites of Passage
Marianne Williamson Manufacturer: Random House ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover Similar Items:

Prayer "...changes people at a cellular level, and with each one who changes, others are brought miraculously closer to enlightenment." Prayer thus can save the world. Marianne Williamson, celebrated author of A Return to Love, meditates on the nature of prayer and its collective power in this commentary, and offers actual prayers that address our hopes and struggles. The first part of Illuminata expresses the inimitable Williamson conviction in the collective spiritual revolution at hand. "We seek to replace an old, oppressive order, not so much politically or socially, but within our minds where it lives and works," she writes with unbridled energy and urgency. Although her examples of individuals who exemplify this change can be daunting, still they offer vivid pictures of human courage and generosity. For instance, she cites the character played by Ben Kingsley in Schindler's List as exemplifying selfless acts of generosity in a tormented world. This suggests that her book is a kind of path through human spiritual evolution. Indeed, for Williamson, illumination is "...the spiritual tunnel through which the soul finds its way out of ego-bound darkness into mystical light."
We are reminded that the purpose of prayer is not to gain an object of desire, or relief from one's hounding problems, or even results that are particularly discernible. The purpose is to experience God. To that end, Williamson offers seven sections on prayers, making this a practical text as well as a spirited commentary. The reader will find a vast range of prayers--daily; celebratory; those that seek relief from depression and despair; prayers for ritual; and prayers that expand into the larger realm of social justice (such as "Amends to the Native American"), demonstrating Ms. Williamson's ongoing commitment to join the political and the spiritual.
Book Description
Marianne Williamson's bestselling A Return to Love ended with a prayer in which she asked God to help us "find our way home, from the pain to peace, from fear to love, from hell to Heaven." Now, in this stunning new collection of thoughts, prayers, and rites of passage, Marianne Williamson returns to prayer.Customer Reviews:

Imagine If Everybody Prayed..........2002-02-04
I don't necessarily consider myself deeply religious, but I find that I can't do without some kind of spirituality in my life. In my searching and my reaching I have come to the conclusion that one of our biggest errors is in thinking that the universe owes us something...something big, something tremendous and representing the greatest degree of wealth. In my opinion, in actuality, it is the other way around....we owe the universe a great deal and all we owe will take a lifetime or two to even consider repaying . It is because of all these debts that the world (and our 'personal accounts') is so messed up. There's no easy way to even the score so to speak because the way we live seems to award the biggest exploiters and we choose to carry about in a way that the exploiters will benefit, and we become just like the exploiters....and to our chagrin, even with riches, power and respect (even if they feel good, initially) we feel empty.
But...
We can try to honor the ways of the universe by the giving of some our services, our money, our time, our talent and our strenght without looking for any payment in return, and we can tap into the energy of the universe by prayer. Because the true ways of the universe is giving and loving and brilliant of light.
So, in Illuminata, Williamson begins with an eloquent and stirring 'fin de siecle with the moons and the love soldiers lining up' to take the world to a spiritual renaissance. My opinion about that is the world has always been on the brink of a spiritual upheaval and renewal, if you think about it. Williamson, though quite passionate and persuasive, brings nothing new to the table in her introductory chapter....but I am quite fond of her retelling of a tale often told. And although her star quality has faded throughout the years, she is still a force to be reckoned with. In Illuminata, she puts in plain spoken terms what the people of earth need to do to survive another millenium. Pray. Pray because you are part of a great moment in time. Pray for your work relationships, your family relationships, your enemies and the people who you don't see who brings the electricity to your fingertips and the brass on your doorknob. Pray for the nation, pray for happiness, pray for the elders, the children, pray for the universe.
Pray for the universe.
"Read my prayers or someone else's", Williamson asserts.
I say, (and, here, I'm only seconding Williamsons' motion) "Imagine if everybody prayed..."
Fabulous! Very easy to read..........1999-04-29
An even more beautiful and longer-lasting gift than flowers!.......1998-07-08

A Wonderful Tool For Alternative Ceremonies.......2003-07-17
When my father died earlier this year, I was the one who deliver his eulogy since my dad "did not want anyone to speak over him who did not know him or his life.
That my father had suddenly and unexpectaly died was devastating enough, when coupled with the fact that I had to deliver his eulogy, I was, needless to say, a nervous wreck.
Being that I had for many years subscribe to an alternative spiritual belief (alternative to Christianity) I was lucky enough to have this book on hand. Its contribution in helping me sort out my words were enormous because although I had wonderful memories of my father, I really didn't know what to do with those memories--how to put them into words and how to deliver them in a segued and coherent testimonial to my father's life in front of what turned out to be 135 relatives and friends.
The Rituals Alternative Weddings, Funerals, Holidays and Other Rites of Passage guided me through putting all my memories together. It served as an outline for the eulogy that I wrote. The author not only provided 3 full funeral services, which I modified to my liking, but other practical and knowledgeable information on funerals and dying such as: meditations, the pre-planning of one's funeral, legal information, poems that would be appropriate to read at a funeral (two of which I used), and additional resources.
And for as good as this book is on funeral info, it is equally well written in the other topics that it covers, such as: Marriage, rites-of-passages--love, parenting and adulthood rites, alternative holidays--Winter Solstice, Christmas, Valentines Day, Labor Day, Autumn Equinox, etcetera.
Finally, throughout the book (as opposed to at the end of the book) the author list many relevant resources one may want to refer to for further information on the subject at hand. The Rituals Alternative Weddings, Funerals, Holidays and Other Rites of Passage is a truly wonderful "tool" for anyone who is looking for information on alternative rites.

Book Description
A royal heir has been kidnapped - along with Jedi Master Tholme, who was protecting the boy. Now two of Tholme's former Padawans have teamed up to rescue their master, unaware of the forces arrayed against them. Their most immediate foes are a father and son team of Morgukai assassins, who have the training and the weapons to go toe-to-toe with Jedi. But behind it all are the machinations of the notorious Count Dooku!Customer Reviews:
Another good one.......2005-12-30
A blast of a read.......2004-03-15
The quality of art is what you've come to expect from the Duursema-Kryssing team: fanciful illustrations, vibrant colours, you won't be disappointed. With Aayla looking like a bundle of cuteness in the opening scenes, and Villie back to grinning again, even if his page time was less than prior comics, it's back to old times.
Dialogue varies between the cast, though the Morgukai syntax limits creativity with their short sentences. Even the Jedi get some good lines, and for once aren't the usual wimps they seem to be. The Morgukai want Vos and Secura dead, they'll have to work for it. Which, of course, just gives room for some good snappy one-liners.
What is it with comics, that full names must be mentioned almost each time? Readers know who Quinlin Vos and Aayla Secura are; what need is there for characters to address each other with both names? Crimson Empire, the TOTJ and Ongoing series, they all did this.
There's nothing extravagant about the plot. The comic introduces Nat Secura, the young Twi'lek fans will remember Bib Fortuna making a fuss over in Tales from Jabba's Palace. His abduction has Vos and Secura in hot pursuit, and a father-son duo of Morgukai hunters not far behind. A race against time to avert interclan war, with the life of their master hanging in the balance as well. One will ascend to Jedi Master, the other to Knight, and the fun begins.
The only issue of contention was how the Morgukai son survived to appear later, as readers last saw him stranded in the middle of a lava flow. How he could possibly get out of that could easily have been clarified with a line or two, and not spoil anything. Meant to surprise the reader, it taxed credulity, compounded again in the last pages.
Overall, Rite of Passage is another great comic by the talented team you know can deliver the goods and more. And with character development continuing to evolve in new directions, avid fans are sure to follow them as the new stories come.
