Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB
One moment Conrad Schwartz was a hungover hiker in the mountains of modern Poland, the next he was running for his life from an angry Teutonic knight.
At first Conrad just thought he'd stumbled across a mad hermit. But several days of ever stranger events convinced him that he had somehow been stranded in A.D 1231.
And that meant Conrad had to turn Medieval Poland into the most powerful country in the world. Otherwise the Mongols were destined to destroy it--in just ten years!

A Great, Classic Series!.......2005-08-15
This series is a real favorite of mine. Great story line, great characters, and unique ideas. Now (as of Summer 2005) the latest Conrad book, "Conrad's Crusade" is now available from [...], on line! It is solid action on par with the best in the series. [...] and I recommend it highly.
A riveting read!.......2005-04-02
This is a great book and a great series - taking an excellent idea and executing it perfectly. It almost certainly is aimed at a male audience, but women should enjoy it too if they aren't too offended 0:)
'Connecticut Yankee,' plus sex.......2002-01-08
Similar storyline to Twain's 'Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court' - only this time, it's a Polish engineer in 13th century Poland.
It's a fun read, although I found it a bit convenient that the hero was an engineer - it would have been much more fun & challenging if the hero only had a rudimentary knowledge of how things worked.
A similar book to these that I'd also reccommend is 'Enchantment' by Orson Scott Card. That book and the Stargard series are the only time-travelling in Poland fantasy books I'm aware of.
Satisfying, if shallow.......2001-11-07
Very decent sci-fi / time-travel / alternate timeline treatment. If you're at all technically minded, and if you can look past the author's rather abysmal treatment of anyone of the female persuasion, you'll probably enjoy this as a nice break from something deeper and harder hitting. It's fun and diverting to imagine what one expert engineer who (unlike most of us technical rabble) actually knows how things work could do with 13th century technology, culture, and a great deal of luck.
The first 2-3 books of this series are by far the best, as near the end the author seems to loose a bit of interest - or at least creativity - and begins to engage some serious Deus Ex Machina plot elements with Conrad's friends in the distant future. Still, worth a read to those not offended by the "women are property - and they *love* it" garbage scattered throughout.
Absolutly Fantastic!.......2001-06-05
The Cross-Time Engineer is among the best time travel books I have ever read. It leaves nothing to chance even displaying that properly placed geneticly enhanced War Horses can be found in 13th century Krakow. Conrad Stargard is plagued with moden emotions and ethics in a medieval world that holds life as worth little. It is a great set of books so be sure not to stop at number one.
Customer Reviews:
How many Frankowski's?.......2005-11-25
I really do like this book; however, it suffers from the same weakness that all the "Conrad" books do. It has a great underlying story and very competent writing in some sections. In other sections, the writing is dreadful. It's as if a high quality professional writer shared the task of writing with a not very capable junior high student. There isn't even much integration between the pieces. Some other authors have good books and terrible ones - Frankowski is the only author I've seen who accomplishes both in the same book time after time.
Interesting problems are posed - e.g. "How can the existence of time travel bring about its own creation?" and then the text wanders off into inanity (Let's bring in an extremely knowledgeable alien to overcome the problem - an incredibly weak "deus ex machina".) Diversions, such as the erotic scenes, are set up, only to miserably fail after a promising start. The resolution is anything but erotic. Come on, such scenes are inserted to divert attention from a book's weaknesses. That's partially because it's almost impossible to do these scenes badly. Frankowski manages it, though.
It would be really great to have a "Conrad" book with a high quality of writing through the whole book.
An adolescent's Mary Sue fantasy; complete drivel........2005-10-18
The worst thing about Conrad's Time Machine is the first couple of chapters; they're actually rather good, and they imply that the book might be worth buying. This would be a mistake, because the quality of the book rapidly drops from there (from "promising" to "claptrap" and below), and as for the plot- well, there isn't one.
The characters... initially have potential. But once the "story" gets under way - well, it isn't really a story, as much as a wish-fulfillment fantasy of the main characters getting laid, getting laid, getting laid, living well, getting laid.
Maybe Frankowski needs to get laid. Maybe then he could stop *writing* about it with the fervent intensity of a teenager whose right forearm is noticeably larger than his left. As though this isn't made clear, there's one scene where the first-person main character is forcibly raped by several women and seems to enjoy the experience. Come *on*.
But no, it's not *just* sex that the characters do. They have a great life in other areas... and do nothing of real interest. Sure, *being* them would be nice, but reading about them becomes mind-numbingly tedious in rapid time. The characters are godlike in their superiority and in how everyone else seems to worship them; never are they in any danger to speak of, never do they meet anything remotely resembling a challenge. One of the chapter titles sums it up nicely: "Playboys in paradise."
Unfortunately, there's no plot. There's an excessive amount of sex, but no bad guys, no plot, no story. Frankowski doesn't exactly keep his wish-fulfilment fantasies out of his writing at the best of times, but in this one he seems to have dropped all restraint.
On the other hand, I've had difficulty finding much in his other work that justifies more than two stars. "He can do better", in the case of Leo Frankowski, really isn't saying much.
Perhaps a better way of putting it would be to say that it would be very, very hard for anyone to write a book worse than this drivel.

Best read at the bottom of a mineshaft, during a power failure while wearing a blindfold.......2005-07-12
Not absolutely awful . . .if the author were a 14 year old boy with moderate writing skills. Rather embarrassing for a grown man to publish novels populated by nothing but "Mary Sue". John Lange at least had the decency used a pseudonym, though sadly he too is still writing.
If you don't know, the original "Mary Sue" was Lieutenant Mary Sue . . . "the youngest Lieutenant in the fleet -- only fifteen and a half years old" . . .in Paula Smith's "A Trekkie's Tale," in her 1974 fanzine Menagerie #2.
Basically Mary Sue (or in Frankowski's case, Marsia Zuzwana) is a character (or characters) that directly represent the authors own ego/wish fulfilment and generally sucks the life out of the story like an infestation of tapeworms.
However, as Frankowski's target audience is adolescent males, the lack of anything resembling a character is probably going to be unnoticed and unlamented.
Frankowski's writing is new and original. Unfortunately, what is new is not original and what is original is not new.
I suspect LF is an environmental engineer, since he seems so skilled at recycling cr*p.
There are MANY better time travel stories out there --- H. Beam Piper's Paratime stories for example.
Try LF out at the library first and if you like him, there are many many used copies of these books.
There is no one named Conrad in this book. (spoilers).......2005-03-21
The cover shows a man at a complex battle station facing off against dinosaurs AND a future-city with spaceships. Neither of these are in the book.
Even though this book was written by a man, there seemed to be a large misandrystic (?) streak. After the first quarter or so, women did practically everything, with a hidden subtext that they did it better than most any of the men could.
The main character marries one of these uberfrauen named Barbara. Why, I don't know. She's good in the sack, but due to some of the plot devices he has access to literally thousands of woman who are eager to get him in the sack. Barbara is a stuck-up prig who keeps thousands and thousands of secrets from him.
Continuing with the "men and their feelings aren't important," at one point the main character is raped by three women. Literally raped, he's tied up, handcuffed, ball gag in his mouth, and they have their way with him. But it's OK:
"I don't think that the women involved deserved twenty years in jail apiece for their crimes, which is what would have happened to three men back in the States, if they had done to a woman what these three did to me."
Why not?! Rape is rape, no matter who the victim is and who the rapists are.
Oh, and the rape was actually part of the surprise bachelor party organized by the main character's best friend. With friends like that...
The end of the book just happens with no climax or resolution and more questions left asked then answered. Nowhere in the book does it mention being part of a series and I didn't even know it was until I came to this site.

Very good, but not quite great. Good fun........2000-06-08
Book 1 of The Adventures of Conrad Stargard
Yet another displacement story, and the first of a moderately long series, 'The Cross-Time Engineer' is very plausible and is told first-person by the protagonist. Frankowski has done a very good job (IMHO) of depicting the attitudes and prejudices of an educated young man from the end of the XXth century. More, his work instilled in me a lot of respect for the Polish people, and a tiny yearning to learn Polish. Once you accept the basic premise of someone being cast back in time, your suspension of disbelief won't be disturbed by the hero pulling fantastical solutions out of his hat. He suffers discomfort (and comfort!) and gets confused and makes mistakes like everyone else. Each book in this series can stand on its own, though it becomes more and more difficult toward the end.
I'd give this a 'G' rating despite the frequent (but non-explicit) sexual references. They're treated tastefully enough for younger readers, I think, although the book wouldn't suffer if there were fewer of them. (MHO.)
One of the best series I've ever read........1998-11-17
A must read for anyone interested in science and/or history and who likes science fiction. I found this series as entertaining as Eddings, Anthony, Lackey, Jordan, McAffrey, Asimov, Brooks, and Card, just to name a few, so you know where I'm coming from. And that sexism part? Very amusing, actually. The type of woman who reads sci-fi, like myself, is not offended by such light hearted humor. Both of my brothers and myself could not put these books down! Incredible!
Amazing; riveting; only book I've read 20 times (or more).......1997-10-17
Woven among a fanciful tale, the main character accidentaly travels back in time. An engineer in the 21st century, falls madly in lust with a red-headed girl and gets suckered into buying hundreds of seed packets. From there, he gets attacked by a 13th century knight, works as a copyist and a bodyguard, beds cute young ladies, and teaches all the people that he encounters about the way the world works. Excellent is to weak a word to describe this book.
Excellent, Time Travel, Timeline alteration.......1997-10-09
This is the first book of an excellent series dealing with time travel and alternate time lines. The series deals with a 20th century engineer who ends up in medieval poland. Faced with the need to survive, he uses all his knowledge to modernize poland and it's people.
Frankowski is extremely sexist in his writings and the attitude towards women has to be taken lightly. That said, his ideas are incredible, and they are very well presented. His writing style is extremely easy to read. I simply could not put the books down.
Excellent. Highly recommended for any fan of alternate history. My wife, who hates SciFi, LOVED the books. Anyone interested in history, science, engineering or technology should love this.
Excellent Scifi Book dealing with TimeTravel and HowTO.......1997-01-16
One of the most intriging books I have read in a long time.
Mixes the concepts of Time Travel with how would a 20th
century engineer cope in the Dark ages. Mixes innovation
with a sense of fun and excitement. A little too medevil
in its views of women and their purpose. Overall very well
written.
A must for every avid SciFi fan.

An extremely fun time travel romp with a likable hero.......2007-08-24
Where this humble book wins you over is with a compellingly believable, all-too-human young male hero who manages to also be extremely decent and likable. I enjoyed every minute of this tale. Its setting --modern and medieval Poland--is also a nice change of pace from typical SF literature which is too often rather Amerocentric (not that SM Stirling or Harry Turtledove don't write awesome time travel fiction, cuz they do!)
A must read for scientific survival types.......2004-04-23
This book, and the others in this series are well thought out, fun, and fast reading books. This series is on my top 10 to re-read list. The book tickles that imaginative spot in most peoples brain that questions "what if I was stuck in poland Pre-Mongol invasion?" Sure we all have thought about it, but Leo Frankowski has brought the idea to life with "The Cross Time Engineer". This is a must read.
