Book Description
Written in solitary confinement, Kody Scott's memoir of sixteen years as a gangbanger in Los Angeles was a searing bestseller and became a classic, published in ten languages, with more than 300,000 copies in print in the United States alone. After pumping eight blasts from a sawed-off shotgun at a group of rival gang members, twelve-year-old Kody Scott was initiated into the L.A. gang the Crips. He quickly matured into one of the most formidable Crip combat soldiers, earning the name "Monster" for committing acts of brutality and violence that repulsed even his fellow gang members. When the inevitable jail term confined him to a maximum-security cell, a complete political and personal transformation followed: from Monster to Sanyika Shakur, black nationalist, member of the New Afrikan Independence Movement, and crusader against the causes of gangsterism. In a document that has been compared to The Autobiography of Malcolm X and Eldridge Cleaver's Soul on Ice, Shakur makes palpable the despair and decay of America's inner cities and gives eloquent voice to one aspect of the black ghetto experience today.

Ought to be on a lot more reading lists!.......2007-08-11
Monster Kody Scott, leading gunman of the Eight Tray Gangstas, recounts his gory murders, robberies and exploits as a member of the notorious Crips. A sickening tide of violence visited this man's life in the span of a decade, from gunning down enemy Bloods to facing death at the hands of rival Crips.
Whether you're an at-risk youth or an activist against the system, you need to read Shakur bare his soul to deliver a message about the cycle of violence in South Central, the descent into crack cocaine during the mid-1980s and the city authorities' chronic failure to address the gang warfare through jobs and youth programs instead of a military-style police crackdown.
Its too bad that Shakur doesn't delve deeper into the Black Nationalist ideology that eventually steered him away from his fellow Eight Trays like Crazy De and Lil' Tray. Why not challenge the reader's own beliefs about race and class in America, even if Black Nationalism falls short as a revolutionary approach?
That said, this is just the type of book that ought to make it on a lot more reading lists in America's schools. Almost anyone with a conscience can connect with this book, even if Shakur's life makes you want to scream at the top of your lungs.
a serial killers plee for sympathy.......2007-08-02
This book would be a much more interesting read if the author would have just presented his actions without trying to fake his deep moral feelings and such. The stories he relates of his life on the streets are of course interesting, giving you a window into the life of a remorseless serial murderer. He shows very little regret for his actions or sympathy for his victims, about the best he can come up with is that they should not have been there, in his way. He searches through most of the book for someone to blame, obvious targets like white people (americans), cops, the prison system are pointed out, no surprise there. He constantly compares himself and his fellow criminals to the military, attempting to make them seem in some way noble I guess, but it falls flat. He even goes so far as to compare himself (favorably) to the president, when he tattoo's his gang name on his neck, saying the president lacks the conviction to tattoo "republican" or "capitalist" on his own neck. It's silly thoughts like this that lessen the impact of this book, and just make him seem naive, a child in a man's skin.
Overall, some good writing in between a lot of propaganda and excuses. And what is the point of replacing "understand" with "overstand" throughout the book??
Tough.......2007-04-13
This book is tough! When I read this, I was living in a small town in the Northwest, with a low occurrence of violent crime and an obscenely high average education level (lot's of dishwashers with Master's degrees), but nonetheless, while reading this book, I would find myself riding around in my friends' cars, and wondering why I'd left my "gat" @ home. Considering I don't even own a gun, that is fairly impressive. The book is engrossing, entertaining and thought provoking, all in equal measure. I mean it's no Autobiography of Malcolm X, but I'd say it is definitely a biography worth reading.
Who Cares.......2007-03-16
This book is all about some gang member who polluted LA.
There is nothing REAL about this and everything he does is stupid.
Smart people keep their noses clean and live in tough HOODS and have hard lives to live also.
They grow up and don't spend time in prison and bragg about how tough they are because they carry a gun.
Growing up in the HOOD don't mean you need to be a monster.
Nothing but excuses and all they did was make living in America a worse place.
All the dummys follow in there path.
Put them in jail and keep them there, the world needs no more phony gangbangers...thats for sure.
Hard luck...bull....
Your just weak to begin with.
not bad.......2007-01-27
Not a bad read but not a great read either. I found this book easy to read and not two deep.

Delicious reading .......2007-09-01
A book choice for children to read for clever and creative writing stills that use advance descriptive language that is so very engaging. An excellent choice t to interest children with authors.
Great Book! For all readers.......2007-07-04
I thought this was a great, fun, funny book especially for my 10 year old boy. We both loved it-we listened to it on CD. The music was great and especially the final song- "So you want to be McFearless." We both laughed out loud thoughtout, and I loved the recipes. I would think anyone who loved Harry Potter would like this book. Monsters, magic, legends, and kids discovering who they are- what fun. I look forward to new books by this fun author to share with my kids.
disappointing.......2007-06-11
I purchased this book after reading about the author in Reader's Digest. I have an 8 yr old grandson with a reading problem and hoped that this book, having been written by a man who also had this reading disability as a child, would have produced something to help him.
The book was riddled with adjectives that would confuse an English professor, certainly did an 8 yr old struggling through them to make some sense of the story.
Nowhere in the description of this book did it suggest an age range, which would have helped.
I have returned the book.
You love it or hate it, I guess!.......2007-04-29
I read Zappa's book to my fifth grade class while using my document camera to project the pages onto a screen so they could also enjoy the doodles and artwork throughout the book. The kids adored this book and as soon as we finished it, begged me to see if he had written a sequel...please say there will be one! The names were tongue twisters, that's for sure, but very funny...kids love it when a teacher has to say "Doominstinkinfart". I was impressed by this book - loved the Harry Potter books - loved this one! I use some of the passages to teach my writing classes.
fun.......2007-04-26
The monsters are silly, not scary. Many adjectves and adverbs could have been omitted. The plot does have some suspense. There are aome laughs. Funny illustrations.
Book Description
Meet Kevin Clash, the man behind the Muppet and the unassuming heart and soul of Elmo. At last, the puppeteer who has performed Elmo for nearly twenty years comes out from behind the stage to share his story. Weaving together his memories of growing up with the life lessons gained from his furry red alter ego, Kevin reveals himself to be as caring, and as eager to grow and learn and love, as the very special character he brings to life.
You will discover how young Kevin honed his talent entertaining the kids in his mother’s home day care with puppets he made from slippers and coat liners; how, as a struggling young artist, he realized his dream to meet and then work for his idol, Muppet creator Jim Henson; and how each and every day of performing Elmo reinforces for him what is most important in life.
As Kevin has been inspired by Elmo, now we can all learn from his furry red ways. Kevin’s (and Elmo’s) thoughts on love, creativity, friendship, and optimism remind us of life’s simple truths and ultimately encourage us all to be a little bit more like Elmo–to live with joy, to love more easily, and to laugh more often.

My Life as a Furry Red Monster.......2007-07-18
Elmo. He's cute, he's furry, and for years he's been teaching the world to ask questions, to be creative, and to love with a pure heart. Odd but I never really thought about an actual person "being" Elmo.
My Life as a Furry Red Monster is written by Kevin Clash, the voice and puppeteer behind that furry red smile. In hearing his story, you understand that Elmo is merely an extension of the way this man tries to live his life. Kevin grew up in a household full of love where creativity was encouraged. At a very early age, he made all sorts of puppets. His shyness magically disappeared when he was entertaining others with his creativity. His greatest wish was to join the team at Sesame Street which took a lot of perseverance and hard work.
I may have picked up this book because Elmo was on the cover but Kevin's story will stick with me. It reminded me that dreams can come true.
Furry Red Monster.......2007-04-22
I am, at heart, a child. A bitter, sarcastic child, yes, but a child nonetheless. I love animation. I like playing in the dirt. I adore the Muppets. I have absorbed Muppet trivia and information like a sponge. You tell me the Muppet (even a vague description) and I can spout back the puppet's name, puppeteer, and filmography. It was precisely for this reason that I finally picked up the autobiography of Muppeteer Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo.
Born and raised outside of Baltimore, Clash grew up building puppets out of his mother's slippers and the lining of his father's Sunday coats. By the age of 12, he was making money as a puppeteer, and by the time he was a teenager, he and his puppets were regulars on a local television show. By the time he was 19, he had established a career as a puppeteer with the Captain Kangaroo show and another one of my perennial favorites, The Great Space Coaster. Shortly thereafter, Clash found himself in the dream job of his youth as a Muppeteer with the great Jim Henson companies.
The birth of Elmo was one of those happy flukes. Fellow muppeteer Richard Hunt, who passed away in 1994, flung a random puppet, then known as `Baby Monster' to Clash and said, "Give it a voice, Clash." Since then, Elmo, as he was eventually renamed, has become a world-wide phenomenon.
In My Life as a Furry Red Monster, Clash and his co-author take a rather unusual approach to the re-telling of Clash's life story and the story behind perhaps the most popular puppet in television history. Instead of a chronological retelling of his life history, Clash opts instead to divide the chapters into life lessons such as tolerance, friends, and joy. Using stories from his early childhood, his life as Elmo, and from Elmo's point of view, Clash illustrates the importance of these aspects of life.
In some ways, this unique approach works. One can see, particularly in Clash's retelling of events that have happened to him as the voice of Elmo, how one small three and a half year old with a hyper-active imagination and an unlimited capacity to love has changed the world and improved it for so many.
This is not, however, a history lesson in Elmo and the Muppets. The facts and behind-the-scenes tidbits that are so tantalizing and fascinating to a reader such as myself are in very short supply, and entirely out of order. We read about the death of Muppet creator Jim Henson within the first paragraph. We never really learn anything in-depth about Clash's induction into the Muppet hall-of-fame or how he progressed from muppeteer-in-training to director, producer, and muppeteer-in-training trainer.
The writing is very accessible and engaging; the voice, personal. However, it is difficult to follow the though path of Clash and his co-writer due to some very unusual stream-of-consciousness thought paths that have Clash in one paragraph recounting his childhood, the next paragraph preaching about a topic, and then immediately back to the Sesame Street studios. It's a short work, coming in at just over 200 half-sized pages, and when all is said and done, I felt rather unfulfilled by my experience.
I also had a small complaint about the form factor of the book. Instead of being a standard size, the book was printed in an unusual 6.7" x 5.9" form factor, which makes holding the book open with one hand a difficult process. I found my hand cramping after just a few minutes holding the book open.
Clash does do one job well, however, and that's relating Elmo's experiences to those faced by adults and the world in general. Clash relates particularly touching experiences, including the introduction of Elmo to a group of small school children in the newly apartheid-free South Africa in preparation for the release of a South African version of Sesame Street and his experiences in New Orleans following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. It's easy to see how, in Elmo's life, the ability to distribute love freely has resulted in love being returned to him ten-fold--and the difference that has made in the lives of countless children and adults.
Toward the end of the book, Clash writes
"We go to school to learn--from out instructors, from our books, from each other. And at some point, we begin to listen to another teacher: our dreams. We think about what could be, what might happen once we're all grown up, what we might be able to do without our budding talents or our latest interests. Dreams are fragile things, but when they've been bolstered by the support of parents and teachers, and reinforced with early success, they can withstand the skeptics and take flight."
This, perhaps more than any other statement, defines what this book is about. Though light on the "literature," history, and behind-the-scenes tidbits, My Life As A Furry Red Monster is all about the quest of a furry, red, three-and-a-half year old monster to make the world a better place, one hug and one laugh at a time.

I love this book and made me appreciate how the muppeteer lives through the muppet and the outreach it can have through to children and adults alike.

Kevin Clash's book, My Life as a Furry Red Monster: What Being Elmo Has Taught Me About Life, Love and Laughing Out Loud kept me smiling from beginning to end. It documents the journey that Kevin had and how is parents encouraged him to keep his passion alive as he entered adulthood. This book is filled with life lessons such as love, joy, tolerance, learning, cooperation, optimism, and courage just to name a few.
This book is reminiscent of Everything I Needed to Know I Learned In Kindergarten by Robert Fulgham, but much more reader friendly. The chapters are divided to be shorter but are quite precise in what they are trying to teach.
Kevin Clash mentions how Jim Henson, a man he idolized since childhood and who he would later work for, treated each and everyone of his employees as friends. This is just one thing that makes making working on Sesame Street such a pleasure.
Elmo was created as an inquisitive three year old who, because of his joy of learning, laughing and loving, has become a phenomenon with children and adults alike.
He has reminded me to look at each individual as I did when I was a child. Children don't judge their peers or adults, they look at them and their environment through their wide-eyed curiosity. They are so eager to learn about everyone and everything.
Elmo may have taught Kevin about life, love and laughing out loud, but Kevin has taught me that it is just his true nature shining through Elmo. Elmo is deservedly one of the most loved characters from Sesame Street, and it's because of Kevin.
Although Kevin mentions that he and others on the Sesame Street set have had thier failures, this does not discourage any of them from trying new things and taking creative risks. This is a lesson I think we should all learn to do in our life. There are so many good lessons in this book but I think the best one is, "..you can't be afraid to fail, because you never know true success unless you have a flop or two." Another note of a very valuable lesson is that his life as a performer has never been a solo act, "No life ever is." This may seem a simple statement, but it is a very deep and meaningful one. Kevin constantly describes how, with the encouragement from his family, friends and teachers, he was able to turn his childhood passion into a lifelong dream.
This book can teach or remind adults about lessons that will allow us to not discriminate, to tolerate and to know that each and everyone of us are full of courage in our own way.
Wonderful book!.......2007-01-19
This book was a pleasure to read! I had often wondered about who was behind Elmo! How nice that he decided to come out with a book! Kevin Clash's story is inspirational and his way of writing the story refreshing! Now as I watch Elmo with my kids, I feel the happiness my kids feel as I listen to Kevin's voice and appreciate the pure joy, passion and love he has for his work. Makes you love Elmo that much more.

Excellent Book.......2006-09-07
I highly recommend this book to parents, teachers and anyone interested in learning more about ADHD. I am actually currently taking my Masters in Special Education and this book was a wonderful source of information. It is a very powerful book where the author talks about his personal experience growing up with ADHD. All parents of kids with ADHD should read this book because after this experience they will definitely understand better their kids' behavior. I congratulate the author for sharing his personal experience and for showing through his writing how parents and teachers have a crucial role in developing kids' self - esteem
A Book You'll Never Forget.............2006-07-27
As a freshman in college, I was finally diagnoised with ADHD after always having problems growing up and never quite fitting in with my peers. After being diagnoised I continued to struggle to find the support I needed. 2 years after I was diagnoised, through the ADHD support group that I have been part of, I was encouraged to read Dr. Jergen's book. It took quite sometime for me to finish it but it was the most touching and honest story. I finally felt like I knew someone that has gone through similar struggles like me. Dr. Jergen's book has given me hope. It has shown that someone with severe ADHD can find ways to cope and be successful. I could barely finish his book because I was so touched and moved to tears. Thank you!!!!
I **strongly** believe that ANYONE touched by ADHD whether personally, through a family member, your spouse, your child, or through your classroom or your job should read this book. While at times it may be difficult to read, scary, and appear hopeless; this book, Dr. Jergen's personal journey with ADHD will help others understand what we are going through. It has helped my mom and for the first time, we really are talking about it.
Just want to add my appreciation for this book .......2006-07-13
There have been several well written and very useful reviews of this book already. I just want to add mine to the collection.
I am a substitute teacher and was looking for a book to help me understand ADHD. This was the book. Also, unlike so many other books, it isn't geared to a regular classroom teacher with the ability to set her own lesson plans and class structure.
I really appreciate Mr. Jergen telling his story so bluntly - it will be a big help to many in all walks of life.
IMPORTANT BOOK FOR ADHD PARENTS, TEACHERS, FAMILIES, KIDS.......2006-05-26
I have read several books on ADHD since my grandsons were diagnosed and this is by far the most valuable. It helps me understand what they are experiencing at school, home, church and why they behave the way they do. It certainly motivates one to do everything possible to help them avoid being "the little monster" and discusses what worked in the author's case. I congratulate the author for sharing his powerful personal story.
should be required reading for all teachers.......2006-02-10
I picked this book up for a paper I was writing in my Education degree program. It was so readable, that I couldn't put it down. The book lets us into the private thoughts of a child with ADHD. I did not appreciate the degree of impulsiveness, or compulsiveness that these children have. The author shares motives (or lack of motives) for his behaviour that are not what one would expect. I have gained such insight from this book! My mother is a retired resource teacher and when she read it she said she wished it had been available years ago. It should be on the required reading list for every teacher.

Mr. Trotta gave an excellent glimpse into his life. It was revealing in that he overcame many obstacles seldomly experienced by others. His story I believe gives hope to others striving to live life on their own terms. I want to thank him for his candor and wish him the best of success in the future. I have had the opportunity to met his wife and him in person. They are very unique people and the biography does them justice.
Book Description
The man who invented shock rock tells the amazing and, yeah, shocking story of how he slayed his thirsty demons—with a golf club. It started one day when Cooper was watching a Star Trek rerun between concerts, bored and drunk on a quart-of-whiskey-a-day habit; a friend dragged the rocker out of his room and suggested a round of golf. Cooper has been a self-confessed golf addict ever since. Today he and his band still tour the world, playing some one hundred gigs a year . . . and three hundred days out of that year, Cooper is on the course.
Alice Cooper, Golf Monster is Cooper’s tell-all memoir; in it he talks candidly about his entire life and career, as well as his struggles with alcohol, how he fell in love with the game of golf, how he dried out at a sanitarium back in the late ’70s, and how he put the last nails in his addiction’s coffin by getting up daily at 7 a.m. to play 36 holes.
Alice has hilarious, touching, and sometimes surprising stories about so many of his friends: Led Zeppelin and the Doors, George Burns and Groucho Marx, golf legends like John Daly and Tiger Woods . . . everyone is here from Dalí to Elvis to Arnold Palmer.
This is the story of Cooper’s life, and also a story about golf. He rose from hacker to scratch golfer to serious Pro Am competitor and on to his status today as one of the best celebrity golfers around—all while rising through the rock ’n’ roll ranks releasing platinum albums and selling out arenas with his legendary act.

Great Read.......2007-10-03
This is truly a great read , very entertaining and enlightening , I wish it was longer but that's another book (hopefully !), Well worth it for even the non Alice fan.
Awesome read for Alice fans!!!!!.......2007-09-22
Even the biggest fans will find plenty of surprises to make them want to keep turning the page. Alice finally answers some questions we've all had, including where that infamous concert chicken came from. The book alternates back and forth between the auto-biography and Alice discussing golf and what it's taught him about life. There is a good bit of "golf-speak," but even non-golfers will appreciate the message he's woven into each lesson. The man has had an amazing life, and he has known so many legendary people. Give it a read; you'll have a new appreciation for the man who is Alice Cooper.
Alice is "Killer".......2007-08-21
I love this guy...what a great book. I don't read much but this book is impossible to put down. It ain't all about golf and how to hold a club. Even if your not a golfer you will love the music facts and life lessons weaved into the fabric of this book. Very Very Very good job Alice.
Legendary!!!.......2007-08-17
An amazingly written piece by a legendary human being. This book really provides a great insight to the life of Alice, I found it to be a very inspirational book. He also has some great tips for a game of golf!
Grand Finale.......2007-08-11
I have to admit that I have had a soft spot for Alice since my early teen years when the band was in their heyday. I still remember the lyrics to their songs to this day. However, I became a Christian in my later teens and had my own little struggle with secular rock music--not wanting to completely give it up and trying to ride the fence so to speak. Trying to live for God and yet be around something that was definitely not of God. During this time I actually prayed for Alice and the gang that they might be saved, along with several other secular bands whose music I enjoyed. The years passed and I came to terms with the fact that I could not fill my mind with wrong lyrics and lifestyles and be around something that is blantantly antiChrist, and I eventually forsook the secular music--and much of the Christian music for that matter. (That is a whole another story). I have grown much as a Christian since I got rid of that in my life.
I was thrilled when I heard that Alice himself was saved. I bought this book hoping to find out more about it. This book is witty and fast reading, and seems very genuine. Alice seems to be a very likeable, personable down-to-earth man and the tone of the book reflects this. I also like golf and enjoyed his comments on the game. The book is replete with Alice's personal stories and pictures and is very entertaining in some sense.
The only negative thing I have to say that I believe Alice is doing some "fence riding" in many of his stories and remembrances and needs to come to terms with his new faith. Too much name dropping and smoothing over things and trying to be both a Christian and accepting of the rock lifestyle without being "offending". The two don't go together. I am saddened that he gives golf more credit for his sobriety than he does God.
I hope and pray that Alice continues to grow in his faith and one day will forsake the rock world altogether and live solely for God. "Come out from among them" , Alice. That second pastor gave you some bad advice--God certainly does not want to take you out of the world, just that you be not of the world. Get out of the debauched secular music business and denounce it, don't rub shoulders with it. Certainly it would be hard for rocks shock rock king to do this after so many years, but God will help you. If Alice would completely turn his life to God, that would be his Grand Finale, not playing golf.

Memoirs of a Monster.......2006-08-05
This is a great book if you like vampire stories. Although not as detailed and developed as something like Anne Rice's The Vampire LeStat, there is plenty of action, mystery and romance to keep you turning those pages. My favorite characters were Ethen and Rolf (I wish Rolf had been in the book more), and I can't wait to read about Malcolm's creation in Life from the Blood Pool. Take the time to read this thrilling book. You won't be sorry.
I am in LUV w Malcolm.......2006-07-15
For me the idea of a vampire this compelled to be with his family or the family he creates is an idea first. I read the book as a result of myfriends birhtyday present to me. I have always enjoyed vampires and this was no exception. The world revealed in the book shows a imagination fresh and full of ideas yet to be seen with vampires. Lastly, the mix of witches and wereanimals was a pleasant surpriese, I had not expected that. I tell all my friends to read this book, although it does not follow a typical storyline it kept my attention all the way until the end. It was nice to learn there will be a sequel to the story which i am waiting for.
I'm sure the author is a nice guy but..........2006-07-15
Unfortunately this book is badly written, excruciatingly so. It has some good ideas but they are laid out as if the author was making a list rather than communicating his ideas to the reader. Maybe a good editor and a couple of rewrites could have fixed it, I don't know. I read a lot of paranormal stuff and I usually finish any book I start, including some pretty mediocre romances and science fiction, but this one...I just couldn't do it. Sorry, it's going straight to the book swap - maybe someone else can enjoy it.
Nice Job!.......2006-06-27
My friend told me about the book and I reallly like vampires and although it is very detailed i think it is a good book. I would recommend it to my friends to buy it is worth reading.
Entertaining..amusing..........2006-06-26
I was alittle dissapointed in this book..my friend read
it and recommended it to me. Although parts of it were
amusing..it became alittle bogged down as time went on.
However, it was worth reading.
Book Description
Told in her own words, the story of serial killer Aileen Wuornos, who was portrayed in an Oscar-winning performance by Charlize Theron in the film Monster.
There have been few female serial killers, but Aileen Wuornos, who was executed in 2002, was a remarkable example of this rare breed of death row inmate. All too often, female prostitutes have been the victims of male serial killersWuornos' killings were the inverse of this pattern. After escaping an abusive childhood at the hands of her grandparents, she became a child prostitute, progressing into a disastrous adulthood of prostitution and damaging affairs with both men and women. Her eventual metamorphosis from victim to attacker had brutal consequencesa stream of dead men. IF YOU'RE TOO LAZY, HIRE A FACT CHECKER FOR TRUTH.......2005-03-06
I APPEAR IN THIS BOOK, BUT WHAT IS STATED ABOUT ME IS NOT TRUE; NOR DID THIS WRITER TRY TO VERIFY ANY TRUTH WITH ME.
AT FIRST BLUSH, IT ALSO APPEARS THIS WRITER SIMPLY COPIED "QUOTES" FROM COURT DOCUMENTS, AND PARROTED "THOSE" AS "AILEEN WUORNOS' WORDS"; AS I SEE STATEMENTS (SUPPOSEDLY OUT OF MS. WURONOS' MOUTH) THAT WERE TAKEN (OUT OF MY MOUTH) FROM MY LEGAL DEPOSITIONS!
TOO BAD THERE IS NO LEGAL RAMIFICATION FOR PLAGERISM FROM DEPOSITIONS, OR THIS WRITER WOULD BE OUT OF A JOB. AND, IN MY OPINION, DESERVINGLY SO, AS THE ONLY TRUTH IN THIS BOOK IS THE SPELLING OF THE AILEEN WUORNOS NAME.

I actually met Corky Reid, who thought it strange, that Aileen Wuornos should take the rap for his death, when he was very much alive. Corky turned himself into the police and back to his family, very much alive and NOT THE EIGHTH VICTIM BY WUORNOS!
How could THIS so called WRITER state he is writing a TRUE STORY, plus from the mouth of Aileen Wuornos (who obviously knew she did not kill Corky Reid!) and have such a BLUNDER as this?! The book should be taken off the shelf, or retitled, in my opinion, as it is not truthful! PLUS, I have read all the BOOKS written about Aileen Wuornos and the only one that makes any REAL STATEMENTS is LETHAL INTENT by Sue Russell, who actually met the people she writes about and QUOTES THEM!
aileen wuornos .......2005-02-26
i purchased this book written by christopher berry dee,i was very very disappointed as it said on the cover aileen in her own words, there were the odd one or two quotes,as ive read sue russells book lethal intent,i could see alot of similarities in berry dee's book.as for the one of the main topics being corky reid, maybe he should have studied the case more, and not blamed aileen for his disapperance/murder,as he went into hiding to avoid large debts he had incurred.if you want a book given both sides of aileen i would not go for this book,i would purchase sue russells book
This book is not written by Aileen.......2004-11-30
It seems that the author (and I'm not talking about Aileen here, since she didn't write this book, no matter what Berry-Dee is trying to convince you) has taken lots of newspaper clippings and put this book together in a quick way to make money. Although it's not badly written there is something missing. There is hardly any references to her childhood and very much about her being interviewed. Lots of stuff I believe is taken from Nick Broomfield's Aileen documentaries. It's an ok read and I'm glad I got this one from the library and didn't buy it!
Masterful Stuff.......2004-11-23
I had a great time reading this book. Having seen the movie a few months back I decided to purchase 'Monster' to see what else went on with this story. What a tale! So much more to be known about Wournos and written by a man who has clearly had a lot of experience talking with this woman. Using his extensive interview experience with other serial killers he has created the definitive portrait Aileen Wournos. Those who enjoy reading about this kind of crime should check out 'Talking With Serial Killers' by the same author. Again, using masses of interview material Christopher Berry-Dee has produced an absolutely chilling document. And whats more, this guy can write!

A true Heart-felt,eye opening book!! .......2006-07-04
I have read many books on this issue, and it was very touching to hear from a victim, perpatrator, and a survivor, like Shawn Michael Dove. It was very brave, and it had to be very hard to write a book like this---sharing his heart with hopefully thousands of others. He was very encouraging, letting victims know of their innocence, and letting the victims know that it is ok to share their heartaches, and pains with people and to get the help that they need. Very empowering book, a must read...
embracing read.......2005-10-13
I believe it to be repulsive what pedophiles do when given the advantage over a child. The book The Hidden Monster: Pedophilia is an excellent introduction into the threat of these perverts everywhere.
Scary to think about.......2005-10-13
I am interested in offenses made to children, as this book helped enlighten me about this threat to many children. This book truly shows how vulnerable our children are to predators out in this world, and how to protect against their perverted acts.Great read, will be recommending this book many friends.

Maybe he's ahem...biased? Perhaps a clearer review of this book is needed.
A mistake from the start!.......2003-06-24
This book in all accounts is a mistake. It is nothing but whinning for like 100 pgs. I wanted a good book with some facts. This was made up facts, and the same made up lines over and over. Along with this made up fact book, there are several grammer and spelling errors. Im sorry but it was just bad in every way something can be.

More good stuff from Josh Howard. Litho quality far superior than previous comic book quality materials. It's only getting better.
