One of the charms of Zecharia Sitchin is his tendency to take ancient writings as fact as opposed to myth. For example, according to clay tablets discovered by archeologists, Gilgamesh, a king of ancient Sumeria, was punished by the gods for raping female subjects on their wedding day--a particularly naughty, though not uncommon, pastime of ancient royalty. Snickering, the tricky gods created a double of him, which, as you can imagine, created havoc in the king's life. Some time later, directed by his goddess mother, Gilgamesh walked with his double to Lebanon to attain immortality. Sitchin ponders that perhaps the double had superhuman strength and en route built a second Stonehenge discovered in the Golan Heights by Israelis during the 1967 Six Days War. Hmmm. As Sitchin concedes, there's really no way to tell who actually built this hoary structure, but the in-depth archeological and historical research gathered here to support his musings concerning an extraterrestrial secret code to construct humankind is fascinating beyond belief. --P. Randall Cohan
Book Description
Many thousands of years ago, a race of extraordinary beings guided the evolution of life on Earth -- determining the existence and nature of mankind as we know it today. All powerful, all knowing, the proof of their genius is apparent in the mysterious monoliths at Stonehenge, and in a strange but highly significant sturcture of concentric stone circles in Israel's Golan Heights -- both requiring sophisticated astronomical knowledge. Teaching man to look to the heavens, they bequeathed to us the Cosmic Code.
The newest entry in a carefully researched multivolume series tracing the creation and motivation of mankind, this book identifies the turning point in our species' delicate balance between the demands of destiny and the vagaries of fate. From deep inside ancient Sumerian texts that predate even the Bible, Zecharia Sitchin dares to reveal the nature of prophecy and historical truths that have long been obscured by disbelief and misunderstanding: the code used to construct our kind by master builder from the stars.

If it is written by Sitchin then you should read the book. If he is just 50% right it stands as Awesome.
The Cosmic Code.......2007-01-12
Another great book by Zachariah Sitchen, I have read all eight books of his Earth chronicles and they are all very mind boggling.
Misunderstandings and baseless assertions Ahoy!.......2004-08-18
For all those praising the academic/scholastic merit of this work, yours must have a detailed references section that the one I picked up seems to lack. I would give him a D- and a "See Me!" had this had shown up on my desk. Someone should point out to him that evolution has no direction, as if we were destined to get to this point and are no longer evolving. Be careful of the plethora of misunderstandings and baseless assertions that can destroy a person's capacity to think about humans at all scientifically, historically, or otherwise. If you're incredulous of my own assertions, please research anything in Sitchin's works. You will have done more research than he likely did, and could even cite it. Don't take one sourceless book's word for it! You'll find planet X (Tiamat?) prophesies, space stations made of rocks, and millions of years of evolution very slightly co-opted by extra-terrestrials less believable than you once did. There are, after all, enough actual mysteries in the world. We don't need another convoluted theory that creates far more problems than it solves. It's no fluke that these books have made no waves in challenging any anthropological or historical constructions of earlier periods of humanity, areas of knowledge that are constantly modified by actual scholarship. It's also no fluke that these books are marginally profitable, and they keep being released, expanding upon the baseless foundation with even more baseless structure rather than defending the indefensible first works. As far as I'm concerned, if he's one of the few who can decipher those texts, he's abusing his position for financial gain, and could easily be ousted in the genre by a legitimate scholar.
Excellent Companion.......2002-05-03
Waiting for Sitchin's new books, is like waiting for the next Episode of Star Wars. It just can't come soon enough. This is an excellent companion volume to the Earth Chronicle series and sheds additional light. The more you read, the more you ask; Are we more like the Anunnaki or are they more like us? Good book!
Worth reading.......2002-01-06
If Sitchin's Annunaki theories is what you like reading this book is just like his other books. This is a recap on his interpretations of ancient Sumerarian writtings.

Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-04
It is raining super-types. Unlike rain, the impact of a body on the bitumen is bad news.
Also, it appears that the cop partners Walker and Pilgrim are just not your garden variety police types anymore, if Walker ever was, that is. Not the best of the Powers books by any stretch, but it is still a decent enough read to give it a go, for sure.
Powers delivers, but publishers can't........2007-06-20
This is a collection of the Powers comic by Bendis/Oeming. Purely as a response to the other reviewer: Your local independant shop will not have this title yet, million year picnic in Boston didn't have it last week, the release keeps getting pushed back. Quit blaming amazon for a publisher's problem.
To everyone else: Great story arc, I read it serial fashion over a year ago, no clue why it's taken so long to get to market, but the comic has yet to jump the shark, so enjoy. I'll update when it finally ships.

Book Description
The baronial civilization that ruled postapocalyptic America stands on the threshold of a much more sinister plot: the complete domination of Earth. These oppressors are determined to relegate humanity to the status of slavery, and crush the nascent force of freedom fighters who've dared to rebel against a powerful alien race.
Rumors of an ancient doomsday device come to the attention of the Cerberus rebels when it's stolen by an old enemy, Gilgamesh Bates. The preDark mogul who engineered his own survival has now set his sights on a controlling share of the cosmic pie. Kane, Grant, Brigid and Domi ally themselves with Bates's retired personal army, a time-trawled force of American commandos ready to take the battle back to Bates himself, wherever he's hiding in the galaxy, before the entire universe disappears in the blink of an eye.

This was a good book with a so so begining. Too much about how Bates got into the situation he was in, was left out. Where did he get a ship that could travel that far?
Outlander's Cosmic Adventure!.......2007-02-09
This latest Outlanders adventure - Closing the Cosmic Eye - is the most hardcore sci-fi-ish storyline to date.
Written by the illustrious co-author Victor Milan, Closing the Cosmic Eye has a fantastic start with explosive action/adventure with the ever cool Team Phoenix battling against two warring factions, now joined by their own version of little Domi, a dark-haired teen tribal girl who has been adopted by the team. Now beset by nearby marauders, as well as being betrayed by their newfound allies they had just freed in their last adventure a couple of books ago, they are soon rescued by their new friends of Cerberus in a climatic battle that was fun to read.
Then about 75 pages into this pretty much streamlined storyline, it all of the sudden goes into major cosmic hardcore science fiction proportions. Which is real cool on one hand, but much too rushed and sometimes hard to follow on the other. It all of the sudden turned into a Star Wars kind've story instead of Outlanders. Which is fine if things were more clearer and not seemingly rushed to a quick conclusion. This really needed to be a duology or trilogy to flesh it all out.
But, still in all, there were tidbits of greatness throughout this galactic adventure. Tons of alien species warring amongst one another. (Too many, perhaps...?) Like a couple of other Victor Milan's novels and storylines, the overall storyline ideas and concepts are awesome and triple cool, but some of the executions seemed either hard to follow or just plain rushed for completion.
Victor Milan's new book has created a new cosmic threat so large that it makes Mark Ellis's main alien bad guys - the overlords - look like mere pests that could be easily destroyed like stepping on a bug. Only the keenest of readers could detect these hints of this upcoming alien threat in his past books, starting with Uluru Destiny and Lords of the Deep.
I loved the teaming up of the Cerberus warriors with Team Phoenix. They clash sometimes, and have tensions, but still manage to show respect for one another in a number of ways. And the idea of having two groups of warriors coming from past and future earth is just very neat. I wish Team Phoenix would have their own series. Like in his past 80's postholocaust Guardian series, without aliens or muties, Victor Milan has grown as a writer, becoming more of a hardcore fantasy/sci-fi writer than a straightforward adventure writer. But when he does this, he seems to cram too much in one book to swallow. Therein lies the rub.
The main two alien warring factions were gigantic in size and scope, and was sometimes hard to follow and picture in my mind. Sometimes I was picturing something between a cross of Outlanders with Aliens movie and tie-in novels. Nothing wrong with that. Just needed some more cultivation, fleshing out and details.
As in a couple of other Outlander Milan novels, the ending was too abrupt and Closing the Cosmic Eye felt rather rushed. By the ideas of having the Cerberus crew and Team phoenix stuck in a far away galaxy, exiled from earth, made me want to continue turning the page. Having Lakesh and Philboyd finally finding a way to get the two groups to come back home to earth, with Team phoenix deciding to stay and fight in a bigger war for the galaxy, makes me wish Gold Eagle would develop a series of Team Phoenix battling alien overlords throughout the galaxy with these myriad mixed alien races. Now THAT would be a great, fresh and exciting series to read!
But giving this a 3.5 star review is just my personal chioce. Readers who love the more Star Wars and Star Trek type novels, will surely enjoy this even more than I. C'mon Milan, write another Deathlands novel. Give us a more hardy sci-fi-ish adventure in that series.
Or just another gem of raw survival with brains like you did in Deathlands: Vengeance Trail. It really needs it.
Book Description
The last half of the twentieth century saw the establishment of the reputation of St Maximus the Confessor as the greatest of all Byzantine theologians, with a wholeness of vision that speaks directly to many of our concerns today. Until very recently, however, little of his work has been available in English translation, save for some collections of brief reflections arranged in centuries and a few brief treatises, too easily classified as "spirituality." This volume provides translations from St Maximus, two main collections of theological reflections, his Ambigua (or Difficulties) and his Questions to Thalassius, plus one of his Christological opuscula, hitherto unavailable in English.
The translations are accompanied by immensely helpful notes, and prefaced by a long, brilliant introduction to the theology of the Confessor. This is the ideal volume from which to learn at first hand the depth and insight of St Maximus' cosmic vision and grasp of the complexities of human nature, as he patiently explores the nature and consequences of the renewal of all things in Christ. Robert Wilken and Paul Blowers have put us all deeply in their debt.
- Andrew Louth,
Professor of Patristics and Byzantine Studies, University of Durham
Paul M. Blowers is Professor of Church History at Emmanuel School of Religion and an historian of early and Byzantine Christianity.
Robert Louis Wilken is the William R. Kenan, Jr Professor of the History of Christianity at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.
On the Cosmic Mystery of Jesus Christ is part of the POPULAR PATRISTIC SERIES.

The World According to Maximus.......2005-08-28
In the millennia-long conversation of Christian theology, St. Maximus (580-662) stands out as a profound, original contributor. For this reader, the most striking feature in this collection of his writings has to be his understanding of "deification.". Based on his reading of II Peter 1:3-4, deification (or divinization) stands at the very center of his thought concerning the redemption and transfiguration of the entire cosmos. According to Maximus this process occurs in a "blessed inversion":
"... the power that elevates man to God through his love for God and brings God down to man because of his love for man. By this blessed inversion, man is made God by divinization and God is made man by hominization." (Ambiguum 7)
So, while Western theology's development of man's reconciliation to God has emphasized the descent of God into the human, Maximus gives equal time to man's ascent into the divine. Perhaps the closest theological term in the Western tradition to Maximus' "deification" is sanctification, the process whereby the Christian becomes purified from the old, corrupt self and grows into the new, Christ-like self. Maximus, developing II Peter 1:3-4, seems to take things farther: while we in the West are used to the notion of becoming like Christ (as remote as that can seem from our day-to-day reality), Maximus insists that our being is transformed to share in the very nature of God.
In doing so, Maximus gives this reader a fuller picture of the wondrous union of God and man brought about by the grace of God in Christ - a union that removes all barriers to the realization of Eternal Love between Church and Christ, Bride and Bridegroom.
Maximus is not all sweetness and light, however. Sadly, in his diatribe against Jews in Ad Thalassium 64, he adds his two cents to a poisonous, persistent theme in the history of Christian discourse. Also, for present-day readers, his insistence that the act of conceiving a human life is sinful tends to undermine his explanation of the corruption inherited from Adam.
Yet given what a product of his times he is in on these issues, he (surprisingly) concedes a redemptive role to human emotions. The fires of passion are not simply condemned (as they are in many manifestations of Christianity), but refocused so that passion may find its greatest fulfillment: "[turning] desire into the appetitive movement of the mind's longing for divine things." This is a perspective developed most recently in Evangelical Christian circles by John Eldridge in his The Divine Romance and The Journey of Desire. From a psychological standpoint, we might say that Maximus represents a surprisingly healthy and compassionate approach to human emotion, especially for a church father writing in the 7th century! Yet this all flows logically from his overarching view of the cosmos: all is redeemable and will find deification in Christ.
Further, Maximus makes distinctions around passions and attachment that can seem uncannily Buddhist or Hindu to our ears: "Anything non-existent seems to exist merely by the presumption of mistaken judgment when actually it has no existential basis at all; indeed, mere fantasy deceives the mind and, through passion, causes vain attachment to objects that do not exist." His insights on the illusory nature of our attachments foreshadow Buddhist-influenced Christian discourse in the 20th century, for example in the meditations of Catholic writer, Anthony De Mello (The Way To Love).
All in all, for those already within the Christian faith, Maximus deepens the awe that comes over us in the light of "amazing grace." For those seekers of truth who are open to the idea of a universe where Spirit evolves us to higher consciousness and greater compassion, Maximus may open the possibility that Christianity lives in a bigger house that they had previously thought.
Maximize Your Maximus Studies!.......2003-11-23
Great translation of the hero and confessor of the faith who defended the natures of Christ, wills of Christ and hypostatic union. Really he helped defend the core of the faith against those who taught that Jesus was not exactly like usand exactly of the nature of the Father. Great material.

Local and global go hand in hand.......2005-09-20
Thinking locally and acting globally, or vice versa, are not any new Web-slogans.
This book published in 1987, already connected the threads of what is local (physical, personal touch) to global (biological, physiological, and metaphysical).
The book ends with its primary thesis:
Between experiencing cosmic joy and alleviating local pain there is a path that each can follow. It it is a narrow path, it is at least wide enough to walk on, just like the finger pier I am now about to traverse, beginning the return from cosmic concerns to the responsibilities ahead" (p. 303).
A wonderful book from a great mind.......2000-02-14
Harold Morwitz spent the majority of his career teaching microbiology & biophysics at Yale university. Last I heard, he was teaching at George Mason university. This is a splendid book which explores the many intricacies of our majestic and yet fragile world. Fans of the books of the late astronomer Carl Sagan will relish the writing style and wisdom of this fine fellow; I find many similarities between he and Morowitz. The book takes you on a journey out to sea where Morowizt ponders some of life's deeper questions. He also gives a detailed description of various constructs of the earth such as the hydrosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, etc. and how they all interact with one another. I would recommend this book to anyone with so much as a passing curiousity in science; even if he or she is not specifically interested in biology per-se. We could all learn a whole lot from this kindly gentleman, I think
Book Description
There are many mysteries involving cosmic phenomena. Jerome Drexler used 14 of these and his analytical concept of dark matter(DM) relationism to discover a promising candidate for dark matter, the source of ultra-high energy cosmic rays, and theories for star formation, starburst galaxies, and the emergence of DM halos. To test the validity of his discoveries, Drexler used another 11 unexplained cosmic phenomena discovered by astronomers primarily during 2005. Utilizing his same promising dark matter candidate, Drexler was able to explain in a plausible manner all 11 of these recently discovered cosmic mysteries. Drexler's research has led not only to an identification of dark matter and to plausible explanations for the 25 cosmic phe-nomena, but also to a deeper understanding of many aspects of the cosmos, leading to a partial decoding of the cosmos.
Customer Reviews:
Poses questions; posits answers.......2006-10-21
Drexler's book was sent to me unsolicited inviting my feedback and comments. I cannot call myself even an amateur cosmologist therefore I cannot assess how plausible the explanations in this book are. Furthermore, I have not actually read it cover to cover. Nevertheless, I award it 4 stars for the following reasons:
1. The topic is well laid out and is made very accessible via extremely short chapters listed in a detailed table of contents. It is well indexed. A glossary is also included.
2. Throughout the book, use is made of lists, both bulleted and numbered, e.g. pp 110-114, making it easy to follow his arguments.
3. More importantly, it lists 58 references (7 to his own work) as well as a further 30 suggested sources. Readers are cautioned not to assume agreement in these sources with Drexler's views.
4. The book is intended to be provocative and to generate further thought and discussion. The Preface states: "This book, "Comprehending and Decoding the Cosmos," deviates significantly from mainstream cosmological and astrophysical theories."
I would not, of course, recommend a book just because of its layout and style. I see this book as a thought-provoking re-examination of existing observations and theories in addition to offering solutions and new ideas. I leave it to others to comment on the plausibility of these.
CHALLENGING & PROVOCATIVE THEORIES ON DARK MATTER/RELATIONALISM.......2006-08-26
This is another fantastic book by Dr. Drexler. Dr. Drexler identifies dark matter as a viable candidate and explicates his theory cogently by describing in detail the astronomical evidence he found that justifies his theory and conclusion. His most recent book, "Comprehending and Decoding the Cosmos," published this year (2006), delineates and expounds his theory to an even greater extent. I queried him regarding the use of the term relationism vis-a-vis reductionistic practices. Dr. Drexler thoroughly explicated this complex theory that he has posited in significant detail.
Dark Matter, is deemed by many to be the most elusive mystery of the universe, which is probably attributable to its massive, extensive, and hard-to-detect characteristic. Dr. Drexler, in his 2006 sequel, astutely delineates 14 mysterious phenomena, along with his new analytical decoding concept of dark matter relationism, to discover and identify a very promising dark matter candidate compatible with these 14 cosmic elements. In the process, he has quite possibly brought the decades old quest to identify dark matter to a successful conclusion. He adroitly then locates and analyzes an additional 11 unexplained cosmic phenomena, which were discovered and reported by various astronomers mostly during 2005. Drexler again, utilizing his same promising dark matter candidate, plausibly explicates all 11 of these recently discovered cosmic mysteries in his May, 2006 sequel.
I have personally purchased multiple copies of Dr. Drexler's 2003 and 2006 books for family members and friends at the University of Maine. I read with chagrin Dr. Marc "DM"s negative reviews on these books, which interestingly were both written and posted on May 31, 2006. I vehemently disagree with Dr. Marc's and JMK's reviews and evaluations, both of which bring to mind the saying attributable to Herbert Spencer: "Contempt prior to investigation..." Although Dr. Marc characterizes himself as a professional astronomer, I am constrained to believe that he is a grant-seeking, self-promoter, who perhaps has not even read Dr. Drexler's two books. As a professional man, with graduate degrees myself, I eschew hasty judgments when pondering the theories of colleagues and others. I have therefore indicated that neither of Dr. Marc's reviews were helpful to me, and in closing, I strongly urge every professional cosmologist, astronomer, astrophysicist, or interested novice, to read Dr. Drexler's books with an inquisitive and open mind. Do not be influenced by the pejorative and negative views espoused by Dr. Marc.
Baryons as Dark Matter.......2006-06-16
Since the discovery of DM, which many believe constitutes most of the mass of the universe, there has been a debate regarding the baryonic or non-baryonic nature of DM. Current scientific research favors non-baryonic particles with huge new detectors being built today that actually exclude baryons. At its heart, Drexler's book is philosophical in its approach, taking a contrarian view in the debate. Citing Ockham's razor and top-down vision, the author sorts recent astrophysics data of others to analyze and resolve the DM issue, asserting that DM consists of relativistic protons, i.e. baryons. A large amount of data is reviewed and the considerations seem persuasive. Not mentioned as a baryonic argument in favor of DM is another philosophical consideration relating to the significance of man in the Universe. If man is significant and perhaps even central in the universe, as Primack suggests in his new book, it would be a shame if the baryons of which we are made turn out to be cosmologically weird stuff. Drexler's book is worth a read.
Comprehending and Decoding the Cosmos: Discovering Solutions to Over a Dozen Cosmic Mysteries by Utilizing Dark Matter Relationi.......2006-06-12
I have read this book and it is another fine book by the Scientist, Mr. Drexler. I have followed Drexler's career since his days at Bell Labs-his founding of the Drexler Technology (Lasercard), his numerous patents -- He would not publish a book with research that is false. Did the other reviewer really read the book? I HAVE READ IT FROM COVER TO COVER AND IT OPENED MY MIND TO NEW IDEAS ABOUT THE COSMOS,ETC. EVERYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN GOOD , LOGICAL RESEARCH SHOULD READ THIS BOOK.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!.......2006-06-01
There are many reasons why Jerome Drexler's theory of dark matter is not widely accepted amongst astronomers. I am a professional astronomer working at a research establishment in California. The idea that relativisic protons can be responssible for the dark matter of the Universe seems ridiculous to me and this is why:
1. If dark matter consisted of relativistic particles (such as relativistic protons) then this is what astronomers would refer to as Hot Dark Matter. Hot Dark Matter has been ruled out as a form of dark matter because it does not allow the structures we see in the Universe. The reason because the particles are at such high velocities that they can never become gravitationally bound to each other, and all structure is wiped out. Galaxies cannot form, stars cannot form, planets cannot form. This would be a huge problem. This is why astronomers have come to believe in Cold Dark Matter (slow moving massive particles).
2. Protons are charged particles (they have positive charge). Any moving charged particle has both an electric and a magnetic field associated with it. Relativistic charged particles would create a huge electric and magnetic field. This would be easily observed. However, it has never been observed.
3. The Cold Dark Matter Particle (the WIMP) has never been observed for a reason. It's predicted mass lies just beyond the energies we can probe with our current particle accelerators. The next generation of particle accelerators will be able to probe these energies. These new particle accelerators will be coming online in the next 2 to 5 years, so watch this space. Admittedly, if we don't find the predicted WIMP (or neutralino as it is strictly called), then we do have to go back to the drawing boad.
I don't understand how this book has come to be published. The people deciding it should be published are obviously not professional astronomers. However, Jerome Drexler has never had his theory published in an astronomical journal. The reason is because it has never made it past the peer review stage... because his theory is simply WRONG. It does not stand up to experimental tests or what we know about the Universe.
Book Description
An URGENT revelation concerning the developing "Alien/UFO" situation is the main thrust of this edition. It is a warning which MUST be read for your own survival!... The book also unveils the "Gray Project" from the original "Majestic 12" group and discusses the group which just recently took the power away from them. It uses many new photos and images to explain what is about to happen to the people of Earth with special emphasis on the use of HUGE craft over our major cities.....
As part of this discussion, a unique, scientific approach to the truth of the "Face on Mars" issue is given. A more plausible and practical explanation for the event (sans alien culture) and technology is developed. Many people seem to be entranced by the popular hypothesis that the face is a sign of an ancient, technologically advanced, Martian civilization which even pre-dated mankind itself. This edition warns of the use of this whole "face on Mars" farce as a softening item for the public announcement of alien cultures here on earth in our immediate future.
This edition also has an update on the secrets of the Great Seal of America (which appears to be the latter day "Babylon" spoken of in Biblical prophecies). Don't miss this Millennium Edition. You won't have another chance - IF we are correct in our analysis of coming events
For 20 years, this book has been sold "under the counter" in America. The official resistance to the ideas and facts in this book was huge. Now, with the Internet, we are able to circumvent the normal controls on the release of this sort of information to the American people. In Australia (where the ex-patriot, Texan author lives) this book sold the equivalent of a "million-seller" in America. TV shows, documentaries and investigations have been launched as a result of this book which is now read in over 22 countries. It is one of the major books of this century; and was inspired after a 'near death' experience the author had in 1969.
The first 200 pages of the book tell about the author's discovery of a new method of aircraft propulsion using ionized plasma gases over a circular craft in 1970.... It tells about the author's recruitment by an ultra-secret, international research and development organization to finish his propulsion research in Australia.... It discusses the 'conspiracy' behind the US Government, the United Nations, The United States of Europe, The coming Arab Confederation and the Club of Rome to establish a new, global, political power to dominate the peoples of Earth.
A mathematical and 'lay' language explanation of the error in Einstein's relativistic limits to traveling faster than light's speed is also given in detail with illustrations. Photostats of key documents which substantiate the assertions are in the appendices of the book.
In this latest and, perhaps, last edition of The Cosmic Conspiracy, the author has added 60 new pages to the original 200-page version. He reduced the font size in this addition to cram more info into a book which weighs less than 500g - thus saving heaps on international postage.
The book is available in English, French and German. HOWEVER, this newest edition (The Millennium Edition) is only available in English at present. The French translation has begun as of 30 Sept 1998 and will be released in Canada first.

Important work on anti-gravity and Tesla, October 20, 1998
Reviewer: A reader from Stockton, CA The author's name is actually spelled "Deyo" not "Devo". I believe Deyo may be the first to reveal the connection between Tesla's antigravity research and what are known popularly as flying saucers. He could not get his book published in the US for years, despite it being a bestseller in Australia!

Reviewer: A reader from Poway, California Deyo writes a refreshing book concerning various conspiracies (mainly scientific conspiracies). Unlike so many other conspiracy theory books, Deyo provides actual documentation and list his sources and and addresses of how to obtain them (Books and documents). I thought his version of the history of the Illuminati was quite interesting. His final section provides a new view and twist to the plan of salavtion that is offered by God. This book had me thinking of my own views of the various theories that are mentioned and had me pondering over his theories and actual checking his documentaion for more information on the subjects. A very good book.

An intresting book, and an intresting author, December 26, 1999
Reviewer: mike80 from Perth, Australia I have a copy of the original edition of this book, and what a great book it is. It is full of intresting therories that will make you see things differently. I have met Stan Deyo at a rare public appreance, and he has to be the most intresting man I know, and that makes for an extraordinary book. I really look forward to reading the latest edition, any edition is a must for all collectors and those who are curious.

Starts good, ends terrible.......2000-06-19
I liked the first part about the conspiracies and the illuminatie but then suddenly it changes to a religious book quoting and explaining bible text about "the coming armargeddon..." I thought to buy a book with lots of coverage on strange fenomena etc. It turned out to be a "bibletalk" of yet another fanatic person who thinks that turning yourself in to the Elohim will save you from the dark forces. Thanks but no thanks! I will save myself in avoiding future books from this author.

Cosmic Duality.......2003-08-24
_Cosmic Duality_, a layman's metaphysical study by Time Life, is about the opposing forces in the Cosmos, their root in religious traditions, and what they mean for humanity and man's spiritual quest. In the universe there are many dualities: God and Satan, light and darkness, male and female, good and evil, innocence and experience, life and death. The most openly dualistic religion of all time is that of the Persian prophet Zoroaster (Zarathustra), with the good God in eternal conflict with the god of destruction. Zoroaster preached an anti-ascetic creed, as the things of this world are the creation of the good deity. Other religions looked at matter, considering it evil, such as the later Gnostics, Manicheans, Bogomils and Cathars, who were heretics as they considered the material presence of Christ and the Cross as wicked and to be ashamed of. Alchemists tried to integrate their souls into a fusion with eternity, along with their well-known attempts to transform base metal into gold. The philosophies of Descartes and Marx are also discussed as coming from earlier dualistic methods of thought. The treatment of the duality between men and women is not very informative, as this book is published by the Establishment, and the difference between the sexes is looked at as socially constructed although the sociobiological standpoint is briefly mentioned. A great many bizarre subjects are touched upon including exorcism, apparitions of the Virgin Mary, Satanism, the dark side of fairy tales, angelic hierarchies, voodoo, witchcraft, pagan fertility rite, Tantric sex-magic, hermaphrodites, the Seven Deadly Sins, stigmata, Yin-yang, odd religious cults and a host of other things. _Cosmic Duality_ is a work of relativism, not of definite insight, leaning toward the feminist Mother Goddess myth as humanity's primordial faith, along with theological and social liberalism in general. However, it does end with a statement by William James, "one might say that it consists of a belief that there is an unseen order, and that our supreme good lies in harmoniously adjusting ourselves thereto."

Astrology meets ontology.......2005-08-24
This book will not make sense to a person who has not studied quite a bit of ontological/metaphysical information and does not have a solid base in astrology. If you have all these things then this book will unfold and connect the dots in ways you cannot imagine. Astrology took on a whole new meaning for me after reading this book. I am thoroughly impressed. Brilliant and rare.
"Concepts without percepts are empty...".......2001-02-09
The author, a long-time student of occult master Ouspensky, states: "despite its scientific appearance, it [this book] has no importance whatsoever as a compendium of scientific facts or even as a new way of presenting these facts...[but] in its being derived from the actual perception of higher consciousness and in its indicating a path by which such consciousness may be again approached [xxi]." Thus its value lies not in the sight, but in the seeing. But that is just the problem. This book is neither a guide to higher consciousness nor a work on fringe/occult science. Instead, it presents a decidedly scientific "New View" of the universe, and never mind about either facts or practices. It's not that this is pseudoscience (science is, after all, a metaphysical research program). And it does include some tantalizing glimpses of a new worldview. But it is weak in content and failed to generate either productive research or spiritual discipline. An example: "We have reason to believe that our sun does circle about Sirius" [15] in a 800,000 year period. Why? Precessional differences in the annual rising of Sirius relative to its starry background are consistent with the Sun's movement around a circle centered on Sirius. So it *could* be true. And it would certainly be fascinating. And it might explain "Nemesis: the Death Star" thought to periodically attract comets (like the one the killed off the dinosaurs) toward Earth. But nobody every bothered to find out. As it turns out, Ouspensky himself "abandoned the system" at the end of his life, telling his students that they must start over [xx-xxi]. This recalls St. Thomas Aquinas who, at the end of his life, received a vision of the Divine Mother (described in his "Aurora Consurgens") and, in a Zen-like fit of satori, rejected his own earlier intellectual Aristotelian system of theology. Unfortunately, almost nobody knows this; instead the West was stuck with the Thomistic debris of the Catholic Church, rather than elevated by the beatitude of Thomas' final vision of alchemical gnosis and the Divine Mother. So, if you enjoy extended "as above, so below" analogies lacking both empirical content and spiritual interiority , this book is for you. If you had hoped to find a work on spiritual/occult science here (a la Grossinger's "The Night Sky," Gauquelin's "Cosmic Clocks," Seymour's "Astrology: The Evidence of Science,") your disappointment may reach cosmic proportions.
If by chance you wish to awaken.......1999-12-25
If you wish to bring clarity and meaning to your search then sit and read this thought as well as emotion provoking book. Connects your existence with the universe in a way which creates wonder, awe, meaning, and if you are lucky, purpose. Definitely a tool which enables one to get a different sense of one's self as it did for me. If you also had the same experience, I would love to hear from you. Be advised though, the book and it's content is "not for everybody".
