The Bible for Therapists.......2007-10-07
It is clearly the bible of all practitioners of psychology, because it provides information about each of the mental illnesses and provides the rule-outs, as well as Decision Trees. At this point, I would try to purchase a used one, because rumors are the updated version is around the corner.
I should bring it everywhere.......2007-10-05
Anytime you want to discuss a disorder, you have to start with the definition. Since this book is the gold standard among american psychiatrists/ologists, it's the place to go.
So fascinating..........2007-09-26
I love this book! Oh, come on. If you aren't a psychologist, I don't know what you're doing even looking at this book. This is of course the ultimate book on diagnostic information for mental disorders, but it's not written to be entertaining. It's written for clinical use. There will be a new one coming out in 2010? I think.
DSM.......2007-09-24
700 pages of diagnostic criteria a NECESSITY for psychology, social work, and medical graduate students.
DSM IV TR.......2007-09-22
I have learn about this book from my study in Master in Counseling. This book is a great help in Diagnostic of clients that I have. It is very important that this book is properly use and the person using the book should have some training and knowledge about the book before using it.

Customer Reviews:
Best Investment in NCE Prep.......2007-10-09
I bought it all -- the expensive review books, the large set of CDs, the flash cards, online practice exams -- and paid a fortune for it all. This book is the best tool available. (Sorry I bought it last!) It is the most useful tool because it provides 1,000 practice questions with complete explanations as to why the correct answer is correct, and why the other answers are incorrect. The net effect is that you review a lot of material, and you review it multiple times. Easy book to read. Also, the author provides a bunch of memorization tips for critical information. This is the book to buy, forget the other stuff.
Easy way to review.......2007-10-01
I am finding this book a great way to review. It is easy to understand as the author explains each question and answer. With a tight schedule, this book can be read for just a few minutes at a time without losing the flow of the content.
Good Review.......2007-08-31
This study guide covers many aspects of counseling that were either not covered or quickly taught in my counseling classes. It also does a wonderful job of reinforcing the ideas that were taught in class. This book is written in a wonderfully informative and entertaining style. I have not yet taken my exam but am confident that with all the information discussed in the book I should do very well on the exam.
Comprehensive review and tutorial!.......2007-08-14
My recommendation of this book is based mainly on my test scores. Using only Rosenthal's book as a study guide, I passed the NCE with flying colors. It is easy to use and extremely helpful.
Good resource for NCE exam.......2007-08-09
I would recommend this book for anyone taking the NCE exam. I recently passed the NCE exam along with two of my co-workers. This text is a great starting point for anyone studying for the NCE, but I would recommend going into more depth then just studying from Rosenthal's book. The book sets the groundwork for what the test looks likes and feels like, but the actual NCE questions are alot harder and more specific then what Rosenthal provides. I would recommend finding texts in career counseling, research methods, and stats and becoming fimilar with all the basic concepts. Combining Rothenthal's book with texts cited above seems to be the recipe for success

First Aid for the USMLE Step 1: 2007 (First Aid for the Usmle Step 1)
I received the book on time and even though it was used- there were no such markings in the book and it was in excellent condition. Thank you...
good review book.......2007-09-22
concise review book. good for brushing up on topics. great way to start off your study for USMLE step 1. also includes some study tips.
simply a list for USMLE.......2007-08-22
I must have unrealistic expectation for this book, because everyone has gushed about how great first aid is for step1. Well, I got the book and studied, I took my exam, and in retrospect, I can say that while the book gets good marks for putting together the minimum you have to know, it's simply not a definitive source. For one, usmle seems to move increasingly toward testing fundamental concepts in unusual ways, and this book is simply not good for concept. It's basically a list of things you have to memorize for the straight up memory questions. And even for the latter, so many of the mnemonics are so random that chances are you'll remember the mnemonic but not what they stand for.
Anyways, I'll still say take this book, make sure you cover everything the book listed, use this simply as a checklist. It's not the bible for usmle or anything like that - just that I dont know anywhere else that condense the facts into so few pages.
And make sure to get the list of mistakes - there are always new ones in every edition for some reason.

Customer Reviews:
Disappointed.......2007-10-07
I've read this and many other PMP study guides and here is my opinion. I passed the PMP exam but NOT due to this book. The main disappointment I have with this book (and a few others) is that it is organized according to the knowledge areas, whereas the PMP exam specifications by PMI are organized according to the process groups. Also it makes more sense to study project management by process groups because this approach is closer to the real life experience: initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing. If I need to look at the project management body of knowledge organized according to the knowledge areas, I would rather look at the PMBOK Guide. The exam study guides should follow the exam specifications, and should not be a mere re-run of the PMBOK Guide. Also, there is no mention of the exam objectives in any chapter. It reads like more or less a re-run of the PMBOK Guide without any consideration of the exam spec. Other drawbacks of the book are the following:
1.Questions are too easy and not close to the real exam questions
2.For most of the topics the coverage is at very much surface leve, no depth. The adequate explanations and depth are missing.
3.Lots of typos and errors
So, don't use it as a primary source for your preparation. It's ok as a secondary source.
Passed easily!.......2007-09-14
Not sure whether this book was the reason for me passing or the PM PowerTrac CBT tool by Management Concepts (the company I work for has multiple licenses for this). I didn't really do much of the sample questions, I left that to PowerTrac; the content is pretty good though and is readable. I think the key to passing is to understand the structure of the questions and do a few example exams. All in all, my preparation for the exam was about a month, and I wasn't very disciplined either!
If I had used this book first time I would have passed at frst try........2007-09-05
Yes I passed the exam at second attempt. One reason the exam has gotten tough do not expect the question to be as easy as those that are in exercise or simulation exam. For every question you really need to know the fundamentals(as per PMI principles!!). That leads to my second reason for failing, I used much popular Rita Mulacahy's PMP exam prep book. The real problem started when I used the even more expensive PMP fast Track by RMC, each simulation test question answer confused me further. I took the PMP exam and I answered most obvious question with wrong answer. My friend suggested me to forget all other material and focus on this book. This book clearly explains the fundamental behind each knowledge area followed by Input - tools & technique - output of process within this knowledge area. If you understand and remember these gudelines thoroughly you are ready for the exam. If you are lucky and get many math questions you can score up to 70% easily. One more book which helped me was Paul Sanghera's PMP in depth, if you are an IT professional then you may find reading paul's book quiet enjoyable. Good luck.
PMP Reference.......2007-08-26
A great resource for explaining why the answers chosen in their sample exercises are correct or incorrect. This book help to solidify the readers understanding of the PMBOK.
Great book to pass the exam.......2007-08-17
I took PMP earlier this week and pass on the first try. This is a great book, easy to understand but it has its own drawbacks. My exam was really tough. I hardly had any math questions and all the exam questions were really lengthy with lengthy answers unlike the practice questions that appear as excercise and final exam. It was like mini reading comprehension on each question. So expect to see much harder questions that what is in the book. Good thing is that with PM experience and reading this book from begin to end, it will not be a problem to pass eventhough there will be many questions outside of this book. I don't know if the exam is getting tougher day by day or it was just my luck to see those kinds of questions.

Cisco CCNA Network Simulator is a boxed software product derived from the previously self-published Boson NetSim from Boson Software. It provides users with a means to develop hands-on skills at the CCNA level without the investment in expensive hardware. The software, which includes the Boson Router Simulator, was designed to give users the skills needed to pass the new CCNA 800 series exams (640-801, 640-811, and 640-821). The combination of Cisco IOS and Catalyst simulated command line interface (CLI) establishes a foundation of knowledge that is integral to CCNA success, both in taking the CCNA exams and in one's daily job as a CCNA professional. The title includes a drag-and-drop Network Designer that supports up to 200 devices using 45 different device models, including 40 different router models and 2 Catalyst switch models. Users can have up to 200 active Telnet sessions configuring devices inside the simulator. Currently no other network simulation package offers this much versatility and support.
Cisco CCNA Network Simulator also includes a comprehensive lab menu that contains more than 100 structured labs for users to run. More than 20 advanced-level labs from Wendell Odom's CCNA texts allow users to perform complex tasks on networks that combine all the various CCNA technologies.

Customer Reviews:
this is the best network simulator for ccna.......2007-07-16
This network simulater covers every thing that a ccna student will like to know about configuring cisco routers and passing his/her exams.I am very happy with the simulater and hope to pass my ccna exams after I have finished doing the labs,by the grace of God.
CCNA Simular Works Great!.......2007-05-14
This is a great learning tool for anyone who is taking the CCNA curriculum. It works well. The only thing is that it does not support all of the router commands that are in the Cisco curriculum labs. I would find that a lot of times, I would get halfway through the lab and then it would not recognize a command. Other than this "glitch" or if you want to pay through the nose for the CCNP version it's still worth the money. I finished my Cisco curriculum with an A because of the practice labs and the labs included. It sure beats buying the real thing and playing with it. Especially if you want to save some money.
Buy it...You'll like it! :)
good book.......2007-05-13
i ended up changing my careers to websphere application server.
did not get certified in ccna. i am sure this book will get you certified.
Avoid this product.......2007-05-03
If you're trying to pass the CCNA exam (either the single exam or the two-part exam) I would recommend that you buy the Exam Certification Library from Cisco Press (which includes a "Lite" version of the CCNA Network Simulator) and bypass this offering. Then make sure that you get some time on real equipment, if at all possible. The bottom line on the full blown version is that it's not worth the $$$. I wish I'd read the reviews on this product before I bought it. It's true what others have said about the deficiencies of this product. If you're interested in really mastering things like Spanning tree protocol you'll not get that good feeling from this product. STP doesn't work outright! I'm a veteran of certification testing. In all, I've taken 15 tests covering various technologies from various vendors. I took the INTRO test (relying on the books in the Exam Certification Library and the NetSIM) and passed it easily. However, for the first time in my life, I failed a test when I took the ICND exam. I went through the simulator exercises twice before the exam. I read the book cover-to-cover twice before the exam. It's not that I'm a bad test taker. Before the ICND I was 14 for 14. The simulator simply didn't prepare me for the exam. Period.
Great Teacher .......2007-03-16
This is a good investment for anyone new to configuring routers and switches. The labs are very good tools to teach you how to config and help you understand the reasons behind the command.

Customer Reviews:
The CD companion is totally worth it alone.......2007-08-25
I don't really prefer kaplan's review text (the way the information is explained is to shallow/superficial for me), but I do have to say that the text is totally worth getting for the CD companion alone. Containing 2 CBT tests (with FANTASTIC explanations) and flashcards, the CD companion that the text comes packed with is totally worth the cash.
Excellent Study Aid for the MCAT.......2007-07-25
This book is excellent, I would recommend it to anyone who is going to take the MCAT exam, because this book is a great tool to help you tackle the exam. It provides you with helpful strategies, insights, and random facts that you need to know about the MCAT. This book is great.
AN AMAZING BUY!.......2007-07-23
i purchased this book at barnes and noble for almost double the cost and when i found it on amazon for much less i returned it. this is the most important book you will need for the MCATS by far!
Kaplan...worth 9/10ths of your penny.......2007-06-21
This is a ok book. It does not go into detail, whihc may be a good thing or a VERY bad thing, depending on how much help you need to the MCAT's. The book gives more of an outline of the important things without going into detail, whihc again may be good for sum, like me, but bad for sum1 who hasnt taken any science courses in a while. What I do with this book is usually use it as a reference to the princeton review material that I got from taking the princeton review course. Those books (princeton review) are just like the textbooks so you are getting TONS of info that is pretty much not needed and the books never teach you any strategies..the MCAT is not a MEMMORY test or else every1 with a 4.0 would get a 45..the MCAT is a THINKING test...so its not what you really know, it how you APPLY what you know...memorizing formulas wont do u any good if you cant apply them to the specified problem...so Kaplan is ok when it comes to giving "strategies" but if you want real practice..get the AMCAS exams and get EXAMKRACKERS VERBAL and BIO 1001 QUESTIONS those things are amazing! Hope this helps!!!
Very useful book.......2007-06-08
I really like the way the book is set up. It comes with a CD and an online program. You can take a diagnostic quiz to help determine what to focus on. Inside the book there are lots of useful tips on test strategies and there is material to help study for each section. Probably the best book out there to study for the MCATs. If you're going to buy one, I would definitely recommend this.

Customer Reviews:
Really is good refresher book.......2007-10-10
This was a very good review for me. I used to be good at math, but haven't used it in so long. This was a nice refresher, with a good amount of practice problems. The only thing, is that they don't go over word problems in depth. Also, if you are using this for the GRE, you also need to learn the tricks for taking the test at a faster pace. This book does not do that. I still recommend this book to use, initially.
So Glad I Heard About This on Amazon!.......2007-10-09
I found out about this book by reading reviews of the Barron's GRE Prep manual. (which I did use and do endorse) Still, Math was not a strength for me and I'd forgotten so many little things. UMR brings these forgotten things back to memory in a simple and non-intimidating way. This really helped me to get back into the Math groove so that I could be successful on my GRE.
Definatly written by a mathamatician .......2007-09-27
This book is good. To the point and well explained with no extra fluff, it is exactly what it says, a math refresher especially useful for those of you, like me who haven't taken a math course in 8 or 9 years. This book is helpful. I reccommend it.
After "Ultimate Math Refresher," NOW I'm ready to study for GRE.......2007-08-28
** UPDATE - I got a 780V and 670Q on the GRE. Couldn't have done it without this book. Spent two weeks after review below playing around with "tactics" in the Barron's book...I would have benefitted more by mastering every one of the concepts in the Ultimate Math Refresher. Then again - I'm not a math person. I can see where math people would find the book too easy and not helpful. To the math people go the tactics - to B.A. folks like myself - bone up on the basics with this easy-to-use book. Good luck! **
I spent about a month doing every single problem in this book - there are 33 sets of problems, 10 - 20 problems each set. Total time invested...maybe 20 hours? My practice scores on the math part of the GRE have gone up somewhat. But the point is, I'm no longer mystified by the problems. NOW I'm ready and equipped to study the GRE books and learn tactics, etc.
The Math Refresher really is a pre-course for GRE math study. It starts with prime numbers, fractions, decimals, etc...all the basic stuff you learned before 8th grade but have long ago forgotten. The best part of the book walks you through percentages (part = whole X percent) and ratios. Toward the end there is a decent section with 20 or so typical word problems, and it was nice to see me finally getting most of those questions correct. (After bombing them repeatedly on practice tests.) There are also good sections on geometry, factoring, variables, proportions, work problems, distance problems.
Having said all that - be prepared to BEGIN your GRE study after this refresher. That's where I'm at. I now have 2 weeks to prepare, with practice test scores at 770 V and 660 M. (ha, I don't really believe that...my math scores vascillate between 520 and 660 - my V is usually around 660. But I did log that score over the weekend following completion of the Ultimate Math Refresher.)
This is a good workbook, written simply with step by step instructions for solving math problems. There are no multiple choice answers...this is a workbook that makes you work out each problem yourself. Want several hundred math problems that get you up to speed on basic math operations? This book works. THEN start studying the GRE prep books. Good luck!
Unbelievable simple.......2007-08-23
I bought this book looking at the product details and the content. I was expecting it to have some tips and trips to save time in calculation or computation. I must say that I was very disappointed with it. 10th graders perform more complicated math than what is shown in the book. It is oversimplified and gives a false sense of confidence to the test taker. Returned the book immediately.
Product Description
This introduction to IT Service Management, published by ITSMF-NL, is based on the latest edition of the ITIL books on Service Support and Service Delivery and is intended to serve as a thorough and convenient introduction to the field of IT Service Management and a selection of the books in the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and a self-study guide that contains all the material needed to prepare for the Foundation Certificate examination in IT Service Management.
Customer Reviews:
ITIL process makes sense........2007-09-28
ITIL is hardly new, but it is surprising how many professionals in Service Management have never heard of it. I leanred of it from a colleague, and did some research. It is more or less a common sense approach to service management and delivery. What it reall does is force the IT professional to view IT in a customer business needs and expectations sense as opposed to an IT provider sense. I found this text easy to read and well laid out. The mock exam in the back is an interesting way to drive home major points, but the book itself is useful not just for people who want to pass the Foundations certification, but to those who want to view service management and delivery in a more process centric manner. I also purchased the study guide for Foundations by Ron Palmer that gives a very good conversational explanation of ITIL and fills in gaps the offical text does not.
Essential for Passing Foundation Exam.......2007-03-23
I purchased this book with the sole purpose of using it as a study guide to pass the ITIL Foundation exam, and did exactly that. The book has a consistent structure, covering the required areas of Service Delivery and Service Support functions. The price is slightly high, but from looking around, this appears to be the defacto study guide for learning the ITIL Foundation material. Highly recommended.
Excellent book to understand the ITIL basics.......2007-01-09
Excellent book to understand the ITIL basics and to clear the foundation certification. I would recommend this if your objective is to clear the certification in a short span of time. There are other books available if you want to read every process in detail.
Expensive Overview.......2006-12-30
It's a fine overview of ITIL & excellent preparation for the foundation exam. But $50 was a bit pricey (even if my boss didn't complain).
Excellent reference.......2006-11-11
I just finished the ITIL Foundation Certification class (still awaiting test results) and this book was used for teaching. The book is more clear and concise than the older version which a coworker has. Since I am in charge of one of the ITIL processes at work and wasn't familiar with the "Seperation of Duties" I really needed this book. I will use this book and knowledge gained from the class in order to Implement the process.

Customer Reviews:
Kaplan will help you pass NCLEX.......2007-09-30
I highly recommend Kaplan products to study for NCLEX. This book goes over various strategies which I found very helpful, and contains 2 practice exams. The grammar and syntax of Kaplan practice questions is similar to the questions presented on NCLEX, so you are calm and comfortable when reading the actual NCLEX questions!
If you have any doubts about passing NCLEX on the first try, I strongly suggest you purchase a Kaplan review course. I used the online review course and utilized the question bank, practice exams, and the question trainers to prepare for NCLEX. Their review course costs about $400 but gives you access to over 3,000 questions.
I got C's on my last two med-surg rotations but passed NCLEX with 75 questions. I credit my passing score to Kaplan products (and to St. Jude).
great strategy book.......2007-09-24
this is a great book. It has great strategies on test taking for the NCLEX. It comes with 2 tests, an online qbank with 27 questions. It has examples on how to break down the questions.
I love it!!
Great test taking strategies!.......2007-09-23
This book has great test taking strategies. I haven't even made it to the comprehensive test yet, but I already LOVE this book! It's even great for nursing school tests before you even get to the NCLEX. I wish I had known about this book when I first started nursing school!
Great Review.......2007-09-03
This is a great study tool for the RN N-Clex Exam...its really challenging yet helpful. I would strongly encourage anyone who is getting ready to take th NcLex exam or who is just studying for nursing exams to purchase this book..its a great study tool.
pass the nclex the first time!.......2007-08-23
this book is awesome! gives you the strategies to figure out the answers to questions even if you don't really know what its about. i definitely recommend kaplan because they prepare you to pass the nclex the first time giving examples of questions that are similar to the real ones we get on the test.

Customer Reviews:
Great Book.......2007-03-28
This book is an excellent read. It's an easy read and helped clarify some important concepts that the ISACA CISA manual could not. I would use this book to reinforce any terms and/or concepts one cannot grasp from the ISACA CISA manual. I passed the exam December 2007.
Questions.......2007-03-08
All topical based questions would have been separated from answers, it doesn't make sense to read the question while the answer is just displayed beneath.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK.......2006-12-10
The actual test and this book are poles apart. The book, practice questions and the simulated test makes you feel like you know what you need to know for the test. But the actual test is a lot different (I would not necessarily say "difficult"), but reading this book is almost a complete waste of time.
Save your money.......2006-12-09
I just came from the CISA course and i really depended on this book, i did extremely well in the book's and CD's exam.
The questions, alerts and cram sheets contain similar points, that makes you believe you can do well just by going through the cram sheet.
the actual exam was extremely different, i was really lost and had to guess allot of answers.
I'm awaiting for my marks, but i don't think i will pass :(
Very Limited.......2006-09-11
Short and simple, this book is a bad buy. It does not provide enough detail to answer the test questions. The test is extremely difficult and this book provides aid for only 10% of the test questions.
