I didn't read McKinsey Way and you don't have to either to see the impact that McKinsey Mind hypothesis based decision making will have in your life. It uses the same principle that many authors like Polya, Bransford and Stein and many others use. If you work backwards you will get far better results, faster. Why? Simple: Just remember how easy is to solve the labyrinth puzzles starting from the end. Then compare that with the time lost when you try to figure out your way to the end starting from the beginning. This is a simplified analogy of the power and potential this technique has!!!!

I disagree with some reviews that it's a difficult book to read, just read the numerous and very illustrative examples the authors give you and you will find that while it's a different way of thinking IT WORKS! and that's all that matters. This book really changed the way I solve problems

This book is based on Mckinseys consultancy practise. Step by step some best practices are shown used in this company. Very useful, when you're i.e. considering a job in this field. On the other hand the Mckinsey brand is a little over exaggarated with all the Mckinsey slang and heroic attitude towards this company. But when you read through this, it stays a valuable book.

This book is unbelieveably bad. Here's the entire book: Decide what your looking at, develop a hypothesis, test it with data, do some communications around your work. Literally. I expected some real, in depth analysis techniques, and this is total baloney. I am an engineer by trade, well versed in six sigma tools and am close to an MBA; in all of that I've never ever seen something so fluffy and useless as this. The authors and "McKinsey-ites" who contributed should be ashamed.

Mr. Rasiel provides a peek inside the methods used by one of the worlds most elite consulting firms. While he does not disclose any secrets he does offer insights into a methodology used for solving problems quickly. The most helpful insight revealed is the MECE principle. This MECE (mee-see) principle requires the mutually exclusive collectively exhaustive breakdown of issues before conducting higher-level analysis. However, Mr. Rasiel never provides detail into the mechanics of effecting 'MECE Analysis'.

While other techniques in the book will help MBA graduates with consulting engagements, the disclosure of the MECE principle as the cornerstone of McKinsey's analytical modus operandi will be this book's legacy.

I suggest you to read this book. You won't find innovative or fresh ideas but you can learn about a methodology used by a great company that could be interesting. More examples and figures should help better the reader.

I wait a new and updated book with fresh methods and way of working. It's not a good thing to read about Jeff Skilling in the Introduction...

At the end a good work. Read it because it is must for your "business library"

I but this book with great expectations. I expected to be an eye opener. To read something interesting. Instead I found a book full of old and dated cliches. totally useless. If you read hotel babylon, wich is a novel, you will learn more about the hotel industry. Only one good essay there from the MD of Relais and Chateux. Reathing the others I was bored senseless. DO NOT BUY IT

When Lifescan -- the manufacturer of my blood glucose meter -- stopped printing their free log books, they recommended that I try this one.
They were right: the format is so clear and easy to use. The way the pages are set up naturally flows with how a diabetic has to keep notes and test throughout the day. The colors and symbols used in the daily charts look cheerful and take a lot of the drudgery out of my daily record-keeping. Plus, the special sections for eyes, teeth, and feet have me paying better attention to my whole diabetes care. This is a quality log book -- well worth the price -- and I would not hesitate to recommend it other people with diabetes!

My sister has been dealing with diabetes for several years now, so I bought her this book, hoping it might help. Well, it sure did! Before, she was so frustrated, because keeping track of her info was a real struggle. But now, with this WeeklyTrack book, her glucose readings have improved because she is managing her diet much better. She said it has helped her to figure out which times of day it is better to eat certain foods, and when is the best time to take her daily walk. Her doctor has been able to help her more, because he can look at the book and see how she's doing in between visits. We recommend this book for all diabetics!

By the way, if you are a family or professional caregiver, you might also want to look at Daily CareLog (The Complete Caregiving Diary), a caregiving log book by this same publisher.

There are many extraordinary aspects to this book. The first is that I felt like I was right in the company of these remarkable women as they talked about their lives. Much more than interviews, they are true conversations, and I felt I had been invited to sit in on them, able to see and hear on many levels the depth of what was being shared. Wolff is a master at what she does! Each one of the fourteen women came alive as she generously shared her spirituality with a groundedness that has no room for pretense. Their stories are not about dogma and doctrine; it is about their innermost lives--real and touching.
I was also captivated by the story behind the story: The author determined to write the book following a serious car accident which left her with profound, permanent brain damage, unable even to construct a sentence. By refusing to accept that fate, and working relentlessly to regain brain function, she ended up not only with an insightful book about others' lives, she recreated her own brain from the rubble, re-grooving and rewiring it to superb capacity.
Incidentally, it was a man who first told me about the book. I knew he did not have time for fluff, so I bought the book, and after reading it, bought four more copies to give to both men and women friends. It is an extraordinary treasure on many levels!

Margaret Wolf's interviews with these accomplished and insightful women about spiritual life demonstrate the many ways women have found both connections and comfort through their spritual journeys. Through mainstream religions, personal issues, cultural traditions and thoughtul meditations, these women share with Margaret their own pathways to spiritual places and to finding greater meaning in their lives. Inspirational, comforting, compelling, interesting, delightful and connecting, this is a book for anyone who is on his or her own journey. Margaret's gentle and respectful tone of writing and interviewing made me feel I was right there, listening to them talk to me. I highly recommend it!

I read In Sweet Company as part of a summer reading group two years ago sponsored by a friend's church. There were usually 10-15 women plus the leader,a young female minister. We met in a coffee shop. As we progressed, reading two chapters a week, I realized that I was reading a life-changing book. The spiritual journeys of each woman were so different and so much the same. Age, religion, and ethnic backgrounds were really not the most important factors in their spiritual experiences.As we discussed the chapters each week we each found something important to use in our lives.In my case, it was the discussion of meditation labyrinths. Not all of the authors were well-known names to me, such as Olympa Dukakis and Sister Helen Prejean; however, each of the women has made a tremendous impact on those around them.I will reread this book at least once a year. The result of our reading group two summers ago was to invite author Margaret Wolff to our city for a women's retreat called "Embrace" that allowed women from all backgrounds,religions and races to learn more about spirituality. The retreat was a great success. We have talked about repeating it.I believe that Margaret has compiled interviews with women whose life experiences strike a chord with other women of all ages. She is an amazing woman herself.

The author of this book is intelligent and thoughtful in her approach to starting a business. This book is completely different than other books I have read on this topic. Instead of espousing the standard "so you're starting a business" rhetoric, Ms. Bulger helped me to evaluate my goals from a point of view that is more realistic for my particular life. She provides plenty of exercises to help you get through the planning steps of starting a business, and she has many other references that are quite helpful. I really liked this book and will continue to use it as a reference.

This book was an excellent source for inspiration on many levels. It challenges the reader to think outside of the narrow path that the step-by-step business development plan suggests. The author provides insightful exercises for the reader to contemplate the desires behind a developing business idea. She also suggests as she believes that there is a greater power out there who has a hand on the successful and sometimes not so successful outcomes that should always be chalked up as learning lessons or blessings in life. It is an amazing and easy read that would be an excellent course requirement for any university business program.

The Enlightened Entrepreneur, by Grace Bulger, is not your ordinary "how to" book. It starts with the simple premise of creating a business from the "inside out", from one's passions. Developing a business is not simple, but with Ms. Bulger's advise, insights and poignant questions, you can mold your passions into a successful business. From experience, I highly recommend her book.
