Book Description

About the book: What is the connection between lost civilizations, ancient cosmic catastrophes, and extraterrestrial visitations in prehistory? Voices from Legendary Times draws together compelling evidence from archaeology, astronomy, geology, myths, and ancient texts to prove that superior beings from outer space genetically engineered several human races on our planet. . Examines the flaws in the theory of evolution. . Proves that giants were an important, yet now forgotten part of our history. . Explains what really caused the destruction of highly advanced civilizations and continents like Atlantis, Lemuria, and Thule. . Reveals that our ancestors were familiar with flying machines and nuclear weapons. . Shows proof of extraterrestrial contact in the Bible. In the search for lost origins of humanity, Ellen Llyod demonstrates that races of men have inhabited Earth for millions of years, but not all of them were human. Ancient sources describe the past ages as world cycles. The mysteries of the forgotten past reveal that the humans and all living beings have not been created once, but are products of a continuous re-creation process performed and guided by alien gods. Learn why our history is more startling than we could ever imagine!

4 out of 5 stars What Part of Our World are we "Doomed to Repeat"?.......2007-09-27

We, on this planet, are repeatedly told; "He who forgets the Past, is doomed to repeat It; but, if we have already forgotten "it" "or...never even been told "it", where & how do we even start to get "clue one" about what "it"is? Legendary Times definitely gets a person off on the right foot, gets that foot in the door and that toe in the water! The ancient brought to light, & the public.

Legendary Times puts in one place; stories, facts, legends, recovered artifacts, scientific results, & first person accounts of humanity's origins. This compilation is written for the casual reader, yet still contains good clues for a researcher. If Legendary Times has a downside, it can be said to sort of "trail off towards the end" leaving one wishing for more data.

I bought a copy for a friend and find I am always going back to reference a fact.

1 out of 5 stars Are there no editors at iUniverse?.......2007-09-03

There are a lot of problems with this book but the most glaring are the punctuation, sentence fragments and lack of continuity. If this book was translated from another language into English, where were the proofreaders? I've read lots of books translated from other languages that don't have these irritating mistakes.

With that said, I wonder about the research. Among her many assertions, she states that bones of giants found in CA were re-buried in order to suppress the true history of our origin. How does she know this? Though she has sources listed in the back of the book, there are no footnotes to indicate her source for such conclusions. I would think a mathematician, as the jacket states she is, would be more likely to demand proof. Her off-hand conclusions are not based on any arguments or proof that I found in her writing.

I believe there were civilizations prior to the Egyptian/Mesopotamian civilizations but this book is shallow and offers only wild speculation.

Save your money and eyesight.

4 out of 5 stars Poorly written but worth the read.......2007-02-01

This book would be excellent if it were better written. My guess is that English is not the author's primary language. But beneath the annoyingly dropped words (especially "the"), incomplete and awkward sentences, and randomly placed commas is a wealth of substance. The author makes an excellent case that scholars should take cultural myths and legends more seriously, that there are important truths within the stories.
The tour of mysterious sites around the world, along with other evidence of long-lost great civilizations in our distant past, is relatively comprehensive and interesting. Yes, the "ancient astronauts" theory has for some time now been an object of merciless ridicule, but the ever growing body of anomalous evidence, in my opinion, continues to call conventional notions of human origins into question. Although this poorly written book would never suffice in an academic setting, it most certainly can serve well to introduce the reader to related theories proposed by the likes of Velikovsky, Alford, Hancock, Sitchen, and of course the controversial and giggle-factor encrusted popularizer, Erich von Daniken. If one is willing and able to push aside the ridicule, approach these theories objectively (and also tolerate annoying grammatical errors and typos) for the sake of understanding content, buy Voices, for it serves as a very good compilation of evidence proposed supporting ancient astronauts related claims.

Voices from Legendary Times by Ellen Lloyd
I have to be honest from the start, I am not a lover of books that deal with visiting "crafts" from outer space as an answer to the mysteries of the past. Ever since reading Daniken's book I always felt that many statements and claims were made without the evidence to back them up, and yet Ellen Lloyd has done a superb job in uncovering a huge and bewildering amount of
data. This is not just a simple tale claiming that ships landed on the pyramids of Giza, no, this is a really good and clever investigation into hundreds of mysteries, from the Hopi indians to the Maya, oh yes, and a really good read.

There are the infamous authors on extraterrestrial visitation such as Sitchin and Daniken with all their flaws and there are many unsung authors such as Ellen Lloyd who deserve to have their voices heard. The simple reason being that Ellen has done more research and uncovered more enigmas than Sitchin and Daniken put together and all this in one book. From the
moment Ellen steps into the "theory of evolution" she had me hooked because I associated with her as she ripped it to shreds. And then, without blinking she moved headlong into a territory many so-called authors would fear to
tread - Atlantis. In her cleverly deduced assumption there was much more to this ancient tale than previously believed - not least of which involved much more advanced technical abilities in ancient times.

Whatever your thoughts on little green men; whether you think there's something at Area 51 or not, you will be hooked by this well-written book that far surpasses the many other ET books I have read before. This is not a "it happened to me" story, but a really serious investigation into areas academics fear to tread and for that alone Ellen deserves applause.

5 out of 5 stars Answers all the questions.......2006-06-05

As a true supporter of the ancient astronauts' theory, I find this book a great contribution to this field. For me personally, the AAS theory answers all the crucial questions regarding mankind's past. Who are we, were do we come from, who created us and why?
I hope that Ellen Lloyd will keep up her good work and continue where Däniken and Sitchin left off. I look forward to her next book.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant, relevant...and very lonely.......2007-08-27

This a deceptively simple story, told in simple, uncomplicated prose, but with unexpected depth and relevance. It might come off as slightly trite now, as with most mid-20th century fiction set in "the near future" (the late 1980s, of all things!), but I'm sure in 1963 it was truly a sign of the times. What I'm sure hasn't lost its charge over the years is the tint of sadness, of individualized despair, that permeates the book and ultimately embitters the characters. No one escapes their self-destructive fears - not the American government, not the curious scientist, and most especially not the titular visitor who comes to save his world but can't even save himself. The film version, starring David Bowie, is far more surreal and symbolically charged (and, as with any Nicholas Roeg film, obsessed with sexuality), but the plot is very very similar, and anyone who enjoys one version of the tale should enjoy the other. Definitely recommended!

3 out of 5 stars Good in this Genre.......2006-08-01

As most of the reviewers on this page accurately describe and seem to appreciate, the Sci-Fi elements in this book are subtle and cerebral. There are no silver bodysuits, foil helmets, or strange secret weapons in this book (in fact, the alien protagonist threatens the possession of the latter, but he was only fooling). Instead, the ET life form in this book is just different enough from you and me to still be human but to be a metaphor for the outcast. He is a human, although we learn that his anatomy has enough quirks to make him different and vulnerable. He seems to possess attributes for any variety of self-aware nonconformist (alcoholic, sexually ambiguous, artsy, and socially and intellectually superior while also utterly confused by the society around him - in other words, Truman Capote with reptilian eyes).

The story in a nutshell: alien comes to Earth to fulfill a plan to save the 'people' on his own dying planet. The plan requires him to work with Earthlings using his technology and their materials and labor. The plan starts, like all well-executed plans, with capital financing and good legal counsel. Plan is facilitated by gin-soaked hillbilly woman, savvy patent lawyer, and insightful scientist. Plan is frustrated by gin-soaked alien, bumbling government agents, and a humanly lack of committment to mission. Tale ends with alien moving to Greenwich Village, wearing a big hat, and writing poetry.

This book is not a work of genius, and it's not great science fiction. It is a bit dated, being one of the hundreds of its type that came out in the mid-Cold War era. Its events take place in the unimaginable "future" of the 1980's. Tevis spares us from too many future-world wonders. The government of the US is largely the same as it existed in Tevis' world, as are cars, drinks, media, and air transportation (save for the apparent commonality of space travel). Apart from "coffee pills" there are no scenes like people traveling by personal jet-pack or being operated on by robots.

Overall very enjoyable and worth the praise that it has received on this page. For me, not as mind-bending as Bradbury or Heinlein, and not as pulse-pounding as Finney.

5 out of 5 stars A Sci Fi classic that probably you've not read..........2006-07-19

This is an amazing story. An alien comes to Earth to save it and his race. Will he succeed?

I have a vague recollection of seeing the original movie, and I know I haven't seen the most recent with David Bowie. I don't remember the movie ending the way the book does. Could be my memory!

The Man Who Fell to Earth doesn't need ray guns, explosions, and tentacles. It is absorbing, engaging, and... surprising.

Put this one on your must read list whether you are a fan of the sci fi genre or not.

I would just like to comment on what you said, I must agree with just about everything you said.

And with your words about the movie, I believe this was David Bowie's was the perfect, PERFECT role and he is exscatly how I pictured him looking and acting in my mind! Other than that..The sex sence almost made me want to cry, they had the chance to make a wonderful film, {do not get me wrong, the editing was amazing photography wise} and they turned it into a soft porno.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!.......2004-03-19

I read this book about a month ago, and still it lingers with me. I am not going to go into deatil about the book, becuase I am sure enough, you know the plot line already. Yes, there is only 200 pages, but It is not a easy read. If easy read means, the the words were bigger and huge science words were not involved , then yes..it was an easy read...but don;t judge a book by it's cover. The plot is orginal and complelling.

This book is not for everyone, but I do recomind it for all people. It IS in fact the best book I have EVER read in my life, and I have read a lot of books. This touched something in my heart, and even though it is the revised version of the book, it still has the style and emotion it orignally had.

This book, it without a doubt worth your time. I still remember reading the last few pages of this book and thinking about life. It will open your eyes and open your mind.

Although I am a tad sceptical of anyone with alleged CIA connections writing a book and claiming the truth...not because of conspiracy theories, more like because insiders on this stuff split the truth so much I often wonder if they remember what the truth really is.

If you don't believe in Microwaves being used for Mind Control I would advise you to check this out, a letter drom the DOD to one Sharon Shea: http://www.mindcontrolforums.com/dod-ltr.htm

Commander X is like so right dude. One time after taking bong hits my dog told me to look out of the window and sure enough Brown people were floating outside in the air. The next morning I felt pretty groggy and later found out that our septic tank had exploded. Weird.

5 out of 5 stars WE ARE BUT SHEEP BEING LEAD TO SLAUGHTER. . ........2001-11-29

Ever have the feeling someone is looking over your shoulder? That someone is reading your mail - or listening to what you have to say over the telephone? NO! Its not the CIA or even the New World Order -- cause reality is a lot stranger than even the most paranoid among us has been made to believe. All around us are DARK DIMENSIONS where beings of negativity hide and try to do us harm and control our very existence. According to Commander X there are numerous entities which exist all around us, but remain UNSEEN. Some of these beings are actually working together to control our thinking and belief system = and have been doing so since the dawn of creation. Its all very bizarre -- and to some may seem like utter nonsense -- but the good Commander makes it all sound very believable. I guess its up to the reader to decide how controlled we really are!

5 out of 5 stars The TRUTH must be known - We are all in grave danger!!!.......2000-09-05

This is the ultimate history of our combined human/alien heritage. It explains all, including, but not limited to; How The Soulless Ones use daytime television to mollify innumerable women throughout this country to facilitate their impregnation by The Greys, thus leading to the Human/Alien hybridization which is now almost the norm in the United States, if not the whole free world. The secret alliance between The Elders, The Illuminati, The CIA, The KGB, OPEC, and the Queen of England dating back to 1954 which, as a direct result, has led to the construction of massive underground catacombs in North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Sub-Continent. It is in these catacombs that the Greys carry out their experiments on the over 100,000 people who disappear each year. These experiments have resulted in the creation of The Counterfeit Race. It is The Counterfeit Race which The Soulless Ones plan to use to repopulate the nations of the world when they finally make their move for supremacy. It also delves into The Illuminati's supposed practice of mass mind control through the use of microwaves. It is here that Commander X has allowed himself to be drawn into the world of science fiction, any 12th grader worth his salt knows that mass mind control by microwaves is just plain impossible. I do not hold this against him thought, as everyone is allowed to make a mistake now and again. I also do not allow it to hurt my rating of the book, as the amount of information present in the book which is accurate overwhelms this one little inaccuracy. In closing, If you read one book this year, nay this new Millennium, make it this one. You owe it to yourself, your children, the entire human race in fact. Hopefully there is still time to save ourselves.

Book Description

A Harvard-trained independent scholar looks at the numerous ways Advanced Beings--Von Ward's term for angels and extraterrestrials--have been influencing human history since the dawn of time. Using biblicial and other ancient sources, along with modern scientific and achaelogical findings, he unearths new information about AB's contributions to humanity including the roots of language, technology, math, science, and more.

"Gods, Genes, and Consciousness" ties this new historical information to the present day by revealing the ways in which our cultural memories of ABs as well as records of AB involvement have been systematically suppressed in order for government and church officials to control the population. This provocative book culminates with a stirring call for the U.S. government to stop the cover-up and tell the truth about AB involvement.

1 out of 5 stars An Honest Opinion - David Heffernan.......2007-09-18

I'm an English mother tongue speaker in a non-English speaking country. I, like many people have a deep interest in the origins and history of man. Thanks to Amazon I can get books shipped half way around the globe, and, as such keep myself up to date. The expence is usually worth it.
I noticed alot of people have given this book a 5 star rating, nobody gave it 4 or 3. People did however give ratings of 2 and 1 stars. I suppose that means you like it or you don't - no middle ground.

I feel compelled to give this book a one star rating. It is clear that the author (or at least a research team on behalf of the author ) did the research. I have been researching this field for nearly a decade and can confirm that nearly every person, topic, artifact and theory makes a cameo appearance.
Where is the problem?
The Author begins with his conclusions and reads them without any reservations whatsoever into everything introduced into the discussion thereafter. This book contains the scarest liberal interpretation of the bible I have ever seen. It doesn't stop there.
The book is inexplicably lacking in quotations, evidence or anything tangible at all.
I don't think the author (research team) properly thought through their ideas. You can't except all the dogma of evolution and confirm the biblical flood at the same time. Evolution is a dead theory, the evolutionary time scale is dogma not science. The so called classifications given to so called prehistoric man are but the mere utopian dreams of accademics from two or three generations ago.

Advanced beings (Angels, demons, aliens, spirits etc.) if they really did exist, I'm sure that someboby somewhere would dig a hole in the ground and unearth definitive proof...it hasn't happened.
If they exist today...where are they!...I'm sure that there is some intergalactic secret to explain why hundreds of thousands of people testify to having encounters with nonhuman beings and none of them bring back the proof to prove it.
There are no two ways about it, hard evidence is the proof of a phenomenon, not wishful thinking, weird and wonderful tales or golden memories.

1 out of 5 stars What a disappointment this was.......2007-08-15

Nothing but New Age agenda laden, anti-Christian schlock. This book spends most of its time bashing Christians and their faith and hardly any time discussing the real culprits which are the fallen angels and their offspring the Nephilim. Pity, it could have been so much more.

5 out of 5 stars A must read for those thirsty for knowledge.......2007-07-25

I can't believe this book has been out for 3 years and I just discovered it. The author builds upon what I consider the best books to date on this subject - those by visionary Zechariah Sitchin (the author builds on other authors and research of course as well). Then author Paul von Ward offers an academic and almost scitentific analysis of human history, tying in links with myths, culture, religions, human psychology and more. Finally someone with strong credentials offers a well-researched and credible explanation of our ancestry and the history of our civiliztion.

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional--a Masterpiece of Extensive Research.......2007-05-16

I cannot recommend this book too strongly for anyone serious about understanding both our human past and the implications of it for our current evolution of consciousness and improvement of society. I do a lot of reading in several related disciplines and this has been the single most helpful book I have read in many years. It has connected the dots in some key areas where I had yet had "blanks."

My extensive formal and personal study in Christian theology/Biblical studies, psychology, cosmology, the "paranormal," and such have led me to find that virtually every element of the author's historical reconstruction rings true. That is not to deny that some aspects of it are necessarily a bit speculative, as Von Ward would acknowledge. But the critical outline of the story is significantly in tune with the clear implications coming out of the fields mentioned, and others, particularly archaeology.

Especially helpful and on-the-money is Von Ward's explanation of how and why theology and science, via the institutions that drive them, both avoid the kind of observations he brings out. This is massively important for our society and the world. He has new conclusions I've not encountered before, but they are based on solid work by many scholars in various fields. Now, these scholars are often not in the mainstream for the very reason that the mainstream tends to avoid looking at the larger picture.

So, if you are tied to only conventional, "accepted" authorities, this book may not be convincing. Still, I'd hope you would give it a hearing, and perhaps follow up on some of the many great footnotes and bibliography, which are extensive. All readers: do take the time to look up the footnotes, even if you read them all at once as I tend to often, to avoid constant flipping back and forth--there are many gems there.

This book is so valuable, I wish there were a way to get it to be standard reading, at least in the many relevant courses in a college curriculum. It is important as a stimulator of further questioning and research, as well as in its conclusions. Besides academia, it is a must-read for all serious seekers of an understanding of where we come from and where we are going--and OUR OWN POWER to affect that.

5 out of 5 stars This is a Must-Read for those researching and wanting to know more then what their religion tells them to believe........2007-04-15

I loved this book. The first few chapters were dedicated more for metaphysical stuff, but after those there is some really good information in this book, to those who are open in their trains of thinking. This is my favorite book thusfar regarding this subject. It has the most information, I have found in one spot. This book touches many subjects such as Nibiru, The Annuaki, timelines in history, and other interventions in our history. The author often asks what most people don't. This talks about forbidden history, the effects of other cultures on ours, and how all of man-made religions were made. A Great read.

I love this fresh and imaginative series. It is intelligent and a joy to read. I discovered it a few weeks ago and have raced through all 6 books. I am so sorry I have to wait a year or so until the next one.

This world and its characters come alive with Knight's excellent prose. (Unlike the stilted language, and cardboard characters in other alternate history and post apocalyptic novels that will remain nameless.) Val is a hero's hero, but doesn't take himself all that seriously. I love the humor, as well as the dark reflections into the best and the worst of human - and alien - nature. That is the draw of science fiction. We see ourselves more clearly through the lens of altered time and space. "The more things change, the more they remain the same" and all that. But the eternal fight of light against dark, within and without, will always be compelling.

SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ THROUGH "VALENTINE'S EXILE"
One shallow gripe, though. As a female reader who has been a bit in love with handsome, noble, yet oh so manly Val, I was able to handle the thin dueling type scar and the lower back burns, but the slightly off-kilter jaw was entirely unnecessary. (Humorous smile aspect aside.) I hope Knight doesn't have him lose an eye next! (Snake Larsen has already been done.) At any rate, poor Val doesn't have to look like a battered pug boxer to convince the reader he is battle hardened and macho. I mean, if the author was afraid of his being seen as a pretty boy, why start out with hookers wanting to do him for free? At least they seem to be healing his bad leg. No more spoilers on how, though. Maybe that would work on the jaw too. The scar can stay. It's kind of sexy. And Val has been through a lot over the past 15 years.

At any rate, I still love Val and am impressed on how the Vampire Earth story keeps evolving. And a big kudo on starting the hero out at 18, albeit with extraordinary maturity and leadership skills. That gave him the chance to have many adventures and still end up only 32 after 6 books. There is much more to learn about Val and this world, and I can't wait for new adventures in the next installment. I am sure I won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Where are the Reapers?.......2007-09-03

I'm not saying there are no Reapers in this book but the encounters are very few and far between which I find very very disappointing. It is still entertaining reading but without the Reapers the Kurians are kind of toothless and not that interesting. What happened to the harpies and the crazed Reapers that showed up to wreak havoc? I don't want to give anything away but in one of the very few encounters the Reaper actually runs away like a big chicken!!! Bring back the scary!!!! Other than that it was a great read as usual.

4 out of 5 stars Part 2 of Valentine's "deep dive".......2007-08-23

Continuing the introspective pace of the last book (Valentine's Exile), readers may wonder where Knight is taking the series. He's slowing things down, developing characters, and setting the scene, I expect, for major developments ahead. Resolve shows the beginnings of the payout on the reader's investment. Worth the build. A good, satisfying, read.

5 out of 5 stars A Series That Keeps Its Edge.......2007-08-13

Series frustrate me. Typically, when you get to the fifth or sixth installment of a series, you want to bang your head against the wall. Either, you're basically, going on the same trip, yet this time you're heading north instead of south, or your fighting an even "eviler" bad guy, the way you fought the less evil bad guy. Then there is the attempt to breathe new life into the series, basically, by throwing out everything fans loved about the series, and just writing a new book, which happens to take place in the same world, with a few cameo appearances from lesser known characters.

So, when I plunked down my 20 some odd dollars, and bought Valentine's Resolve, I was worried. Not only was this the sixth book in the series, but after the events, and excellent ending to Valentine's Exile, I was worried about the series and our main character. I mean, his best friend was missing, he's been beat down repeatedly by those who he was fighting for, and he now had a whole new added responsibility of having to care for a very strange child. This could be a recipe for disaster.

So, when I tore through the pages and got to the end, all I could think of was, "Thank God for Mr. Knight." Ok, maybe I am stretching it, but, Valentine's Resolve was, for me at least, the perfect next chapter in Valentine's saga. Instead of prettying our hero up, and glossing over all the ways our hero has been screwed with, Knight piles the bad times on. From the opening moments of the book, we see Val in a downward spiral, falling apart in many levels, fighting a campaign steeped in moral ambiguities, and when that is finished, we are left barely more than an empty shell. So, when someone was needed for what could very well be a suicide missions, well, Val's the man.

Once again having a mission, Val heads off, in search of earth's most important allies. Along the way, he meets people on the other side that remind him of what he is fighting for. A hero pilot, even if he is an enemy pilot, shows him there is courage on both sides, and also a devaluing of life. A sultry singer/hooker who may is an example of the untapped potential of devalued humanity. All this leads him to another resistance group, being leads by a man, whose own moral ambiguity shows that both sides of the good/evil of this series, has serious issues.

While Knight excels in the action sequences and dark moments of conflict, what I enjoy is the black comedy and frustrations of the political side to the series. Val trip to the isolated remnants of the American Government is a comic highpoint in the book, and compliments instead of distracts from the overall story.

With a lot of terrifying moments and a thrilling ending, Valentine's Resolve is a great action book. Yet, even more so, Valentine's Resolve shows is that the human spirit can not be restored through faith in institutions, but through the value of personal interactions. In this way, one person can make a difference.

5 out of 5 stars Another Good Addition.......2007-08-12

I got randomly pulled into this series when I needed something to do on my flight to Belize almost 2 years back, so I picked up book 4 'Valentines Rising' and I have not looked back since. After finishing that book I looked EE Knight up online to find out book 5 was coming out soon. So I went out and picked up the first 3 books and have been completely hooked ever since. I even reread book 4 before diving into number 5.

This book definetely does not dissapoint! I was left hanging and longing for more at the end of 'Valentines Exile' (vol 5). We definetely get a lot of questions answered in this follow up and we also get to see Valentine travel through the great Pacific Northwest!! I am not going to spoil anything about the plot more than I have, but I am going to say that EE Knight is beggining to hone this character and Knight's new post-apocalyptic world down to a perfectly chistled masterpiece and I will keep looking forward to David Valentines next adventure and misshap.

Book Description

From science fiction legend and New York Times bestselling author Alan Dean Foster, creator of the ever-popular Pip and Flinx series, comes the climactic final novel in The Taken trilogy, his electrifying space epic about a man and his dog for whom the expression “out of this world” takes on a whole new meaning.

Location is everything. In Chicago, Marcus Walker was a hotshot commodities broker. In the cargo hold of the alien Vilenjji spaceship, he and a laconic dog named George, who has been speech-enhanced to increase his value, are just two more primitive creatures being shipped to the civilized part of the universe, where the market for cuddly extraterrestrial “pets” is busting wide open.

Though Walker and George manage to escape, man and dog are far from overjoyed, being even farther from Earth–billions of miles, in fact–and without a clue as to whether the direction home is up, down, or sideways. Possessing universe-level social skills, Walker becomes the leader of his own armada. Yet even a fleet commander is hard pressed to find a piece of space that no one’s ever heard of, much less cares to find.

To make matters worse, it seems the Vilenjji are proving to be notoriously sore losers. Even if Walker does pull off the impossible and pinpoint his needle of a solar system in the universe haystack, there’s a good chance that the unrelenting Vilenjji will get to him before he ever gets to Wrigley Field.

Yep, it’s a wide-open universe out there, bursting with possibilities– and Walker’s going to get hit with all of them.

True Alan Dean Foster, a nice twist to a strange story.

4 out of 5 stars Decent End to a Decent Series.......2006-11-18

THE CANDLE OF DISTANT EARTH (2006) is the third book from THE TAKEN TRILOGY, following LOST AND FOUND (2004) *****, and THE LIGHT YEARS BENEATH MY FEET (2005) ***.

In LOST AND FOUND, we were introduced to Marcus Walker, the "All American Boy" who gets abducted by aliens while on a solo camping trip in the Sierra Nevadas. Walker is paired with the "All American Mutt", abducted from a Chicago alley, whom he calls George... the dog is able to speak, due to brain enhancement and implant technology of the "evil" abducting aliens. While in captivity aboard a giant alien ship, our heros encounter all sorts of strange oxygen-breathing aliens in a Wild Animal Park setting; and eventually work with some of them to execute an exciting escape attempt - but as they are breaking free in a "life boat", an even bigger space ship arrives on the scene manned by "interstellar cops" who take pity on the 4 individuals, whom they take back to their planet near the center of the galaxy, which can be described as near the height of galactic civilization, and where they put the four abductees on the government dole as hardship cases.

In the 2nd book, the 4 folks (human, dog, giant poetical monster, & genius pompous land octopus), manage to find a way out of their "boring" government sponsered lives, where they are basically provided everything they want, except for a ride home (nobody knows exactly where home is)... they are put to work on an alien planet that is hopefully closer to their homes out on the galactic "outback"... this alien planet turns out to be constantly at war, but with some strange rules (that closely parallel those from the STAR TREK Original Series episode A TASTE OF ARMEGEDDON). Suffice it to say, those adventures were far less believable than the ones from the first book.

In the third book, the 4 aliens eventually manage to find their way back to their individual worlds, and new adventures and situations transpire... the book starts off well, but slows down in the middle, and winds up with an unsatisfying ending that leaves the door open for similar future books.

1 out of 5 stars What a bore.......2006-10-01

This book was not rousing as stated in the Booklist review. It put me to sleep on more than one occassion. What an unsatisfying ending to a pretty good trilogy.

1 out of 5 stars Lousy End to a Rotten Series!.......2006-09-26

We are to buy into the idea that a shallow, contemporary, straight man would permanantly give-up the company of women, other humans and his entire planet for the rest of his life so that he can go romping around the galaxy with a bunch of aliens who tend to either be utterly boring or fully pretentious. Sorry, I don't buy it and you shouldn't buy this book!

4 out of 5 stars fun tour of the galaxy .......2006-07-05

On the planet Hyff, an astronomer sees three ships approaching and fear the Iollth are approaching as they do every century or so to loot and plunder. The Hyffs are pacifists by nature and simply do not have the military mindset to wage war even on an enemy. However, the ships the astronomer saw are not from Iollth but are Nyyuan carrying Marcus Walker, the sentient speaking canine George, the squid like creature Sque and the giant Braouk from the planet Tuuqalia.

These four aliens have been abducted from their homeworlds by the Vilenjii traders who believe sentient beings are commodities to be taken. The astronomers of Hyff find Braouk's planet but before they can travel there the Iollth arrive. The people of Hyff have been so kind and helpful to them, they find they can't leave without solving the Iollth problem. On Braouk's world they find the homeworld of Sque and once they arrive there, the isolationist egotistical beings of K'eremu refuse to help George and Marcus find earth because it is not their problem.

Readers are treated to a tour of the galaxy filled with sentient aliens of all shapes and sizes. It is a dazzling universe and Earth is considered such an isolated backwater place, nobody knows where it is. Allen Dean Foster has written an excellent Star Wars like novel that dazzles the readers with characters that are so realistic and unusual. There is plenty of action but what makes this tale stand out from others is that that these different worlds are explored in intricate detail.

1 out of 5 stars Somebody help him!.......2007-05-27

This author writes about subjects that I believe merit real study and discussion. He does a disservice to the issues, with his mad ramblings. The one thing I learned from his book is that he needs psychological help. I am not big on medicating people, but in his case I'll make an exception.

1 out of 5 stars Return of the waste of paper.......2006-07-05

This is one of the most laughabe lamely written books that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. If you wanna read stupid stuff about how the author can just look at people and know that they are demons ect. then go ahead and waste your money the same way I did.The author is full of hatred and judgement and wants to be veiwed as a messiah. Truly worthless waste of paper.

1 out of 5 stars Shocking.......2006-03-12

Shocking that after buying this book, further contact with the author has resulted in him confessing he doesn't believe in Jesus.

False advertising !!!

4 out of 5 stars Eye Opening Book for Truth Seekers.......2004-03-29

This book touches on topics that most will not dare tread, it's not for the faint hearted or fearful of what others may think. It's thought provoking and though I'm still chewing on some of the ideas and explainations presented, many of my questions were answered. Once reading this book, you will never look at things the same. It really is a life changing experience and satisfies that thirst for deeper knowledge of the lost truths that have been long oppressed, and points the way to find out for yourself, you don't have to take Rick's word for it. Even if a reader doesn't agree with everything presented, it will make the reader ponder and seek for himself what God has to say about such things and draw his own conslusions. I would recommend it for sure but only for the real seekers of God's truth.

5 out of 5 stars A X-File Christian book.......2003-11-08

Return of the Stargods reveals how the ancient alien gods of old will soon return to establish a New World Order of satanism. The book also takes the reader though the Bible showing a vast amount of scriptures that the churches ignore or will not deal with. Scriptures reveal that there is a fifth column that lives among us that are working against God's children in establishing a New World Order as an ultimate goal. They are the ones among us that are waiting for their father to return to them as the beast who will crush all opposition to his rule. But this will not take place until the Rapture of the church takes place first.

The Bible is also very clear that a government of fallen angels now runs this earth. They run all aspects of our matrix reality and remain hidden behind a shadow government. There are strong indications in scripture that here is also royalty of non-humans called the Reptilians and Nephilim that rule over us. They are the ones that have come from hell to transform themselves into rulers of this world. The Return of the Stargods explains all this strangeness by using scripture, and not just opinions and hearsay.

This book is very deep, and not meant for shallow Christians that believe in Church doctrine and not Bible doctrine. This book is a must for those Christians that want a deeper understaning of endtimes and spiritual warfare. It will teach you how to see all the people around us for what they really are so that we can best protect ourselves from these predators. Return of the Stargods is an introduction to the reality that lies outside the religious matrix. If you are a discerning Christian who regards scripture as the final authority and not church, then this book is a must read! -Author-

Book Description

Early traditions speak of the arrival of "radiant beings from heaven," self-sacrificing guardians of the human race who have reincarnated as pivotal figures in the panorama of human history to assist in the work of evolution. Secret Places of the Lion shows how these "great ones" have helped mankind for thousands of years, hiding their secrets in tombs, caverns, temple ruins, and catacombs. Posing as wanderers, they would declare universal wisdom and truth at certain periods of history when people were prepared to receive it; then they would withdraw for a time to see what was done with the new-found knowledge. Thus, the rises and plateaus of our cultural history emerged.

Classic in the UFO field.

Many years after his death, the author still has a devoted following.

1 out of 5 stars Far Out to Lunch..........2006-05-22

George Hunt Williamson was a very strange character indeed, and this is one of his first books, originally published in 1958, and having been kept pretty much continuously in print ever since. Any trip to a used book store will turn up several earlier paperback editions.

Williamson basically retells a portion of the history of ancient Egypt, and recites the mythology of the Old and New Testaments, but reshuffles most dates (where there are dates) by up to 1,000 years and presents the whole story as the continuous adventures of about six different characters, continuously reincarnated, most of whom start out in the imaginary Theosophical Lemuria.

At the bottom of every other page, Williamson notes that "records will soon be discovered" to confirm the details of his story, but is fairly coy (if not completely reticent) about where he himself got those details which he recites without reference or source. Actually, Williamson was pretty handy with a Ouija board, and I suspect his "boarding sessions" (as he called them) were the main source of the "plot" of the present volume. Every once in a while, Williamson mentions the (imaginary) monastery of "The Brotherhood of the Seven Rays" near Lake Titicaca in Peru, as invented by mid-1950s flying saucer cult leader Marion Dorothy Martin. Not coincidentally, Williamson was a follower of the cult, and I suspect some details here are owed to Martin, not to Williamson's imagination. At least one of Williamson's later books was written under the pen name of "Brother Philip," described as a supposed member of the monastery. The "ancient astronaut" or "space god" theme later popularized by Von Daeniken is continuously present within the story, yet not ever a major part of it.

For those familar with the lore of pseudoscience, the best thumbnail description of the book is that it's a deconstruction of the Old and New Testaments based largely on Theosophy. It's also completely valueless for any imaginable purpose... even as merely an example of imaginative fiction. Like many 1950s "ufoological" books, it's a volume of which one can say, "What hath Madame Helena P. Blavatsky wrought?"

5 out of 5 stars The Truth In A New Light.......2002-02-27

This book reveals the truths of ages lost and understandings that man has fogotten. It is definitely is a book to read if you wish to understand the true nature of the Light and those who help it to progress.

5 out of 5 stars A striking esoteric deep view.......1999-04-08

You need to be already familiar with esotericism to read and appreciate that, but for those who are ready, it is of good value. This book gives the right light on Egypt and Israel servants of light, children of the stars. I'm understanding now how the two are linked, are part of the same thing. Very good indeed.

5 out of 5 stars Not to be missed or you will never get home!.......1999-03-08

This book is the ticket for all those who feel that they have been a Someone (not of this place) before and feel instinctively that they are lost, trapped in this dimension and a long, long way from home.

I ENJOYED THE READ. DID THIS HAPPEN? COULD THIS HAPPEN? IT WILL MAKE YOU THINK.......

5 out of 5 stars Unique...Let's just say that........2005-02-12

It is written acceptably, and the subject matter is certainly "out there". But, if you discard the flimsy cover material and look at the content, it is a great read. If this was all made up...it would be a great read. If this is all true it is even a greater read. I found it interesting and compelling. My initial reaction to it was astonishment that someone would publish such a crazy work. But now, after reading it, I am not so sure. Certainly a worth while read. Well...shall I be comfortable in my ignorance or, shall I know the truth about our world? Read this book and make up your own mind.

4 out of 5 stars enjoyed it.......2004-08-16

I enjoyed this book, because of some of the insider information that he brings out. I liked the insights into the invisible world, for example, how certain aliens are working with Satan the Devil, how Satan looks like a reptillian, including his hosts. His description of these other species in our galaxy who are neither benoviolent nor aggressive towards us could be very true. YAHOWAH didn't just create us, all by ourselves in the universe; he created all types of creatures, who eventually have to be taught the truth and given the chance to repent and obey his Son YAHO-hoshu-WAH. That is the purpose of the First Resurrection, for all the true believers to be raised up as King-Priests and given authority over the universe by the direction of the Son. I recommend it.

Book Description

Welcome to the year 2072. Earth is under new management.

Possessed of an unnatural and legendary hunger, the Reapers came to Earth to establish a New Order built on the harvesting of enslaved human souls. They rule the planet. They thrive on the scent of fear. And if it's night, as sure as darkness, they will come.

In a valiant rebellion against the half-century Kurian occupation, the newly formed Texas and Ozark Republics have dealt the vampiric aliens their first major defeat. Resistance member David Valentine is revered as a hero, but he has a dangerous enemy within his own ranks, who will have him facing charges for abusing the Quisling prisoners-the human pawns of the Kurians. When fellow freedom fighter William Post is badly wounded, he asks Valentine to find his wife, who has vanished into the darkness of the Kurian Order. But what Valentine finds there will shake his sanity to its very core.

4 out of 5 stars Improvement needed.......2007-06-14

I would have given this 3.5 stars, if I could. I chose 4 over 3 because the series as a whole is worth (I think) at least 4 stars.

General Feeling: Worth reading but unsatisfying in some ways.

I agree with what some of other dissapointed reviewers say, though I actually think the ending was good,it woke me up a bit.

There are a couple of continuity errors and (disagreeing with what someone above said) some plot recipes that reduce the quality of this novel, and the general overall story did not seem to make many advances.

First of all David seems to have lost some of his "Wolf" or "Cat" powers. Specifically the super speed, there were quite some occasions to use it, but he never did (for example in the competition with the worm riders).

The plot recipe (formula) I am referring to is the one where our hero is somehow brought into a "tribal" situation where he has to learn the customs of the new tribe and through his valorous actions becomes a valued member of that tribe. David already did with the Jamaicans, and now with the Worm riders. This formula gets old fast.

I am a fan of Knight but I really felt that not as much happened in this book as in the previous ones.

5 out of 5 stars great book.......2007-05-26

this book is one of a great series. I recommend the entire series to anyone who likes militia type books.

5 out of 5 stars Completely Unpredictable.......2007-05-14

I read this book twice and I NEVER do that. David Valentine is possibly the most "real" character I have ever read about in fiction. He gave his word to find and save wife of a comrade and David Valentine is a man of his word. Problem is, he's been betrayed and it appears he won't live to see his child, or carry out his promise and he won't die fighting the enemy.

The end of this book left me satisfied, but longing for the next all at the same time.

5 out of 5 stars valentine's discovery..........2006-11-10

this is book 5 in the series...all of them have been a progressive discovery of how one discovers what one is made of, i.e., "the right stuff". David Valentine is a man for all times, a philosopher and a man of action and justice. He is challenged by an invasion of earth and the devistation of civilization as we know it, yet he must find a way through it and, at the same time, remain human in the ideal sense of the word...he is judge, jury, and executioner all in one...not only of the "enemy" that has invaded earth, but of his fellow humans who are not up to the challenge of preserving liberty, freedom, and the "American" way of life...this series continues to inspire, impress, and challenge the reader to put him/herself in the position of david valentine and look at today's reality and "what if's". It is an excellent series to share with your children when they are old enough to grasp the philosophical principles involved. I can't wait for book 6 due out in july of '07...thank you e. e. knight

5 out of 5 stars Valentine's Exile.......2006-11-10

I found this to be an excellent follow-on to the first three novels in the series. It is internally consistent with the Author's vision of the post-apocalyptic USA established in the series and was very enjoyable reading. The descriptions and situations were also consistent with a projection of human behavior predictable by survivalist personalities and consequences. Except for the vampire bad-guy it could fit into other novels. The action was also great.
