Book Description
In the noble and dangerous times of medieval France, the young knight Aubrey de Montdidier, nephew of the Count of Montargis, has been strangely murdered. His friend the brave Sieur DeNarsac, captain of the count's men-at-arms, and Thierry, a young page, must now solve the tragic mystery. Yet it is a magnificent white wolfhound by the name of Dragon -- Montdidier's faithful companion -- who brings an unexpected, shocking conclusion to the puzzle of his master's untimely death.
New York Times best-selling authors Julie Andrews Edwards and Emma Walton Hamilton weave a tapestry of intrigue, power, loyalty, and friendship in this novel based on the captivating French legend of Montargis.

Too sad Dragon is not Irish Wolfhound...........2006-01-01
This is a very nice book that every kid will love. The story is well kown legend of my country (france)with a lot of action and very good details of the middle age. Unfortunately, the author has obviously never met an Irish Wolfhound. I own one and believe me she has absolutely no idea of the power, strengh, weight and size of those dog!! Her descriptions are those of a large german sheperd not of a 75kg Wolfhound.
If you are an Irish Wolfhound owner and buy this book for that reason, you will be disapointed.
A really good book.......2005-08-12
My daughter really loved this book. She is entering 4th grade and it was perfect for her.
A great book!.......2005-03-30
The book is about a dog and knights. There are a lot of surprising details in the book. The characters are all great, too. My favorite character is Dragon the dog. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes knights in battle. Thank you Julie Andrews for writing this book.
doggone dragon.......2004-07-10
A story of mystery and suspense, a book of honoring, and a thriller for the whole family. This book, dragon, is like a Sherlock Holmes mystery: Dragon is the explainer of what happened, DeNarsac is Sherlock, and Thierry is Watson.
I suggest this book if your interested in the things below:
1.Mystery
2.Medieval times
3.Knights
4.Dear Watson

Kids will undoubtedly enjoy this excellent book........2004-07-07
You can definitely count on books from the Julie Andrews Collection to contain good story lines and inspiring messages. DRAGON: Hound of Honor is a perfect example of the fine quality work the collection encompasses.
When the knight, Aubrey de Montdidier, mysteriously disappears there is an immediate sense of something amiss. Everyone in the kingdom is shocked, dismayed and horrified when, with the help of the knight's dog, Dragon, his bloodied body is found. No one can imagine why this terrible thing has happened, least of all his best friend Guy deNarac and his young page Thierry, plus Aubrey's future bride, the lovely Lady Isabelle. Through the dog, Dragon, a most unlikely suspect is eventually found, but how can a dog communicate this kind of information?
Many interesting characters bring this story to life, but the most fascinating one is Dragon, the great white wolfhound. This dog is intelligent and loyal, and ultimately helps bring the murderer of his young master to justice. Readers will be amazed at the dog's courage and willingness to sacrifice himself --- this is the story of a real hero.
Multiple expressions and words, which reflect both the time period and the French language, are found throughout the book. Helpful glossaries of French-English and medieval terms are provided for readers at the end. The authors have worked hard to tell a wonderful story and give an accurate picture of life during medieval times. Kids will undoubtedly enjoy this excellent book, which is perfect to use in an educational setting. Recommended for grades 5-8.

Book Description
In this the first book of the "Dragon Keepers" series, Merlin is about to turn 13 years old and become an official dragon keeper. Mr. Goldwell has embedded the success principles from his books "The Door to Super Achievement" and "The Power of Choice" into the story so that young people can learn these principles through adventure, fantasy and mystery. There are seven books planned for "Dragon Keepers" and each book will have motivational, and success principles included in the story. Emerson Ward, the illustrator for "Dragon Keepers" wrote, "When I read the book, I realized that kids just aren't taught the principles that are contained in this story. I wanted to be a part of this adventure so I decided I wanted to be the illustrator for the book."

"A book for young and old alike...a real 'Keeper' for any library".......2007-05-02
Bruce Goldwell's Dragon Keepers is the first in his series of seven books, all of which will teach success principles to old and young alike. Bruce Goldwell is one of a select group of modern writers who has the imitable imagination, narrative powers and solid moral vision that enable him to create the kind of large scale (haha...we are talking about dragons here:) conflict between the good (namely Merlin, Tom, the dragons and the Elfins)and the evil (namely Lady Oer, the vampire bats and the huge spiders)that lies at the heart of all good fantasy. Goldwell is much like a contemporary C.S. Lewis but with motivational ideas also added to the mix. Furthermore, the illustrations were inspirational while also applying directly to the storyline.

Dragon Keepers I & II.......2006-11-27
I read Bruce Goldwell's Dragon Keepers I & II over the holiday. The story is a seven book series about the life of Merlin. It tracks his life from 13 years old to an old and powerful wizard.
There is a lot more to this story then some may think. Each book teaches a valuable lesson to all ages, especially children. The story is not only about Merlin but about how he became the person we know of today. We get to meet his parents, powerful dragons, and a true love who have made a major impact on the paths he chose.
Dragon Keepers I is a fantastic story that teaches you how to lose your worst fears. It starts off with a common 13 year old boy that very quickly begins to pick up a "massive amount" of responsibility and must learn many lessons to fulfill his role as a Dragon Keeper. As a Dragon Keeper, Merlin must teach his new dragon, Dracon how to fly, live, and survive in the real world. He must also teach him the ways of his dragon ancestors. Read this story and see how Merlin naturally takes on his responsibilities, meets new friends, and battles with evil.
I recommend this book to everyone because it reminds us of our everday battles with life and brings a positive perspective to the things we don't want to always deal with. Bruce made me realize that there are a lot more precious things in life and not to take them for granted.
Dragon Keepers II continues the story of Merlin and the hardship he must conquer. He finds a stranger in his living quarters and is quickly reminded of his tasks. Merlin and Dracon go on a wild adventure through different worlds learning about their ancestors, meeting very powerful leaders, and controlling their fate (to a point) by his thoughts. He quickly realizes the hardest task he must face is in the eyes of...(shh...i can't tell you!!!)
I really liked this story because it was so real and passionate. It teaches you to believe in yourself. It also teaches you that you have control over an outcome just by having a positive thought process. Merlin is very advanced for 14 years old. When a situation comes about, he takes care of it. He doesn't coward away or freeze up. He does what he feels he needs to do by following his instincts. I'm really excited to take this adventure with Merlin and Dracon. Now that Merlin knows it's time to take his journey through life and to wisdom, I am sure it will be one adventure after another.
Spellbinding Read!.......2006-07-08
This book captivated my son. We read this book over and over again. The story of Merlin was well wrote. I was unable to put the book down. Each night, we would look forward to reading the next chapter. Bruce Goldwell has done an excellent job at keeping you hanging on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next.
Reminds me of why I miss my childhood!.......2006-04-25
This book is all about enriching your child's imagination and teaching them moral values and how to succeed in the long run.
I have enjoyed it from the very first page and to the very last, it was sad to see it end. I can't wait for the future ones to come along.
It's also refreshing to read about Merlin in his younger years since that part of his life is left largely unexplored by fiction writers.
Over all I loved it and I know that both children and adults will too.
Dragon Keepers.......2006-04-24
Dear Mr.Goldwell I really like your book alot. It's very intresting. My favorite character was the Elfin because he was the only person who could go to the gate with the dragons. The words were so remarkable. I had to figure them out in the dictionary. I would recommend this book, because It got my interest in it.I learned that some books can turn out to be fantastic!!

My Father's Dragon--a favorite of young readers since the 1940s and a Newbery honor book--captures the nonsensical logic of childhood in an amusingly deadpan fashion. The story begins when Elmer Elevator (the narrator's father as a boy) runs away with an old alley cat to rescue a flying baby dragon being exploited on a faraway island. With the help of two dozen pink lollipops, rubber bands, chewing gum, and a fine-toothed comb, Elmer disarms the fiercest of beasts on Wild Island. The quirky, comical adventure ends with a heroic denouement: the freeing of the dragon. Abundant black-and-white lithographs by Ruth Chrisman Gannett (the author's stepmother) add an evocative, lighthearted mood to an already enchanting story. Author Ruth Stiles Gannett 's stand-alone sequel, Elmer and the Dragon, and her third volume, The Dragons of Blueland both received starred reviews in School Library Journal and are as fresh and original as her first. (Ages 4 to 8)
Book Description
When Elmer Elevator hears about the plight of an overworked and underappreciated baby flying dragon, he stows away on a ship and travels to Wild Island to rescue the dragon.

If your child likes animals, humor, adventure, and maps..........2007-10-10
This might be the book that gets your reluctant, or comic book obsessed child into reading. This book includes a dialogue with an alley cat on the first page...a map of imaginary lands, and a clever story about imaginative trickory of various animals. I haven't seen a lot like this out there for the 7-10 year old readers. It also makes for great bedtime reading, as the adventure is gentle, the pictures not too frequent, and the text soothing, descriptive, and rhythmic.
Buy a better quality print of this book.......2007-08-22
While the story is definetly worth 5 stars, all the paperback printings of this story render the art absolutely hiddeous. The fine graphite shading of the illustrations is totally lost and the images end up looking like Xeroxes from a newspaper. I grew up reading this story in an anthology of stories published in the 1950's; the art in the anthology is of the highest quality so I know most reprints of this story today are sadly lacking - and it's a shame, too, because I know how much I enjoyed looking at the pictures as a child with my grandfather reading the story to me. These newer printings leave much to be desired.
SUPER .......2007-08-14
I just finished reading this clever, witty and engaging book to my almost-four-year-old son and we both enjoyed it very much!
My daughter - age eight - read it in about thirty minutes and I am considering using it as a resource for copywork in our daily lessons.
This is one of the most entertaining and sweet books we've ever read as a family.
My boys favorite series!.......2007-01-03
Great story about a boy who rescues a baby dragon. My 3 and 5 year old love this series, and anything that doesn't beep, flash, or make a mess that will get a 3 year old to sit down for half an hour at a time has to be great! The storyline is very imaginative, and revolves around being nice to others and using what you have to solve the problems you run into.
AN Amazing Adventure.......2006-12-17
These books are so special because they capture thae minds of all readers, and mean somthing more to younger kids because, Ruth Ganett use her imagineation as is she could go into a mind of an kid 5-9 and speak their thoughts. I am an avid reader, so out of all the books I've read this is one I will cherish forever. Everyone should read it even if a 190 year old person special ordered a super deluxe HUGE print version, they would still enjoy it.
Book Description
Everyone knows that kids from Chinatown don't go to the park when the kids from Little Italy are there. They're rough, they're big, and they don't like Chinese kids. That's okay-Henry doesn't like them, either.
But what Henry does like are kites. He loves them. Even more, he loves to help his friend Grandfather Chin make them, and fly them over Chinatown and the park. But when Tony Guglione and his friends from Little Italy keep throwing rocks and destroying their beautiful creations, Henry and his friends decide enough is enough!
In this touching story based on true 1920's events, two rival groups of children representing two different cultures come face to face, and when they do, they find they share much more than just the same sky.

He gathers his friends and meets Tony's gang head-on. But there may be more than one reason they are throwing rocks...
With a realistic, non-violent ending and gorgeous paintings, this book is a amazing, unique read. Review by Sarah
lucybgucy.......2005-10-09
This is a really good children's book. The story is interesting and enlightening and the illustrations are beautiful. Both parents and children will enjoy this book.
Beautiful!.......2004-07-20
The illustrations in this book are beautiful--sweeping, lush paintings that are contemporary and classic at the same time. A nice break from all the "cartoony" books for children out there. A nice message, too.

Customer Reviews:
Not truly a badly written book........2007-06-02
I simply found the basic concept silly and boring; technically, it's not badly written. If you enjoy reading books set in traditional Chinese culture, and also enjoy Star Trek stories, you'll probably love this one. I find traditional Chinese culture stultifyingly boring and thoroughly annoying, and would not, once I'd seen that this book involved the Enterprise crew forced to attempt to make diplomatic contact with an offshoot of that culture, have bothered finishing were I not compulsive about reading every Star Trek book.
Just a question of taste; this book was not to mine.
Just for fun.......2004-01-13
There is a play by Gilbert & Sullivan, the Mikado, based on China but in the style of Pirates of Penzance. This is a Star Trek style adaptation of it. All of the Next Gen regulars are involved, although Geordi's part is quite limited. The situations in themselves are actually quite reasonable, but then taken to absurd limits. The results are hilarious. Some of the situations: Picard is "honoured" by sharing favourite foods with the Dragon Emperor, foods that everyone but that Emperor considers offal. Riker attends the bachelor party, where the guests are more inclined to have funerals for each other the next day. Dr. Crusher ends up, to quote: playing den mother at a kung fu slumber party. Data, onboard Enterprise, engages the commander of the approaching alien fleet in what the Old Norse called a flyting: an insult contest. The Old Norse flytings were long, nasty, inventive and incredibly amusing, and they would have loved Data's performance. That was the best part of this very funny book.
STNG #38 Dragon's Honor - An excellent numbered novel!.......2003-12-01
It is quite interesting to note that in the recent release of Greg Cox's "The Q Continuum," with an interview between Greg Cox and Kevin Dilmore that this outstanding STNG novel wasn't a collaborated effort between Kij Johnson and Greg Cox but more of a re-write on Greg Cox's part. Apparently, Kij Johnson was only able to get the first draft in on time due to her changing jobs. Pocket Books and John Ordover asked Greg Cox to step in and write the second and final draft. While the excellent premise and characters belonged solely to Kij Johnson, the credit for the exceptional characterizations and pacing goes to Greg Cox for this wonderful STNG story.
While the cover art for this STNG novel is pretty much standard fare for the time in which it was published, the art is a cut above the rest.
The premise:
The Enterprise is en route to Pai, the throne world of the Dragon Empire in order to secure the insular empires entrance into the United Federation of Planets. In order for the entrance of the Dragon Empire to happen, Captain Picard and crew must ensure the wedding of the Emperor's son to the only daughter of their oldest enemy goes off without any problems, effectively putting an end to decades of civil war.
This great story takes a turn for the worse when Dr. Crusher who has a very prominent role in the story, wins the confidence of the bride to be and discovers that she is reluctant to carry out the wedding. Adding to that, a vicious alien race comes into the story and they will stop at nothing to prevent the Dragon Empires entrance into the United Federation of Planets...
What follows from there is nothing short of one of the best numbered Star Trek The Next Generation novels that both authors deserve a great amount of praise for bringing to print. I highly recommend this novel to any and all fans of Star Trek fiction! {ssintrepid}
ST-TNG: Dragon's Honor.......2003-04-20
Star Trek-The Next Generation: Dragon's Honor written by Kij Johnson and Greg Cox is a who-done-it complete with mystery and intrigue as Captain Jean-Luc and the Enterprise crew battle an alien armada and are at an exotic Dragon Empire ready to join the United Federation of Planets.
What I liked about this book is the mystery as you try to guess who-done-it with the clues furnished by the author as you read on in the book. There is a wedding between to old foes with mistrust running rampid and this "Royal Wedding" is entrusted for its security on Picard and the Enterprise crew. I like how the fleshing out of the characters in this story were written.
This is a well-written book the will keep you on the edge of your seat. Without the wedding there can be no peace and the treaty with the Federation would never happen... but this isn't all... there is some really bad guys that would stop at nothing to see that peace never happends. Thus, this vicious race plans assassination to all out invasion, just to keep the Empire from joining the Federation and this is where you'll read about Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his formidable skill as a negotiater.
There is action and advenure in the book along with the mystery and intrigue that will keep you reading till the end of the book. This is a classic Picard saves the day book.
Interesting Cultures.......2001-03-04
I have to give this book four stars because : 1) I like alien races. 2) I enjoy books that deal with Asia and this book has the 'Dragon Empire', who seem to have a society based on early China. 3) It also has a mystery and I love trying to figure out things before the characters in the book.
It starts out with action and has enough to keep you going to the end.
