5 out of 5 stars This is TOO Funny!.......2005-03-25

This book is hilarious. It's a scream! The old nonsensical nursery rhyme is freshened up, dusted off and given a satirical slant. The parts with the horse are very funny. The humor runs rampant throughout this work and will leave readers of all ages, young children and adults alike laughing uproariously.

For Beatle fans, the "horse" brings to mind "Dark Horse," the one who pulls ahead, a description George Harrison often applied to himself. The short of it is, this book will delight all.

Choldenko is a gifted author and is one to keep a watch for!

5 out of 5 stars Adorable, clever, and contemporary.......2000-09-04

Fabulous dialogue and humor abound in this refreshing tale of the cow that jumped over the moon. The change of attitude is welcome, fun and irreverent. A must-read for anyone and their child. Sweet and aesthetic illustration makes it a pleasure, suits the story beautifully. Looking for more from this talented writer.

5 out of 5 stars One of our very favorite books.......1998-04-23

This review from The National Parenting Center sums this great book up perfectly:

This hysterical and irreverent book which explores, in extraordinary depth, the well known Mother Goose line, "And the Cow Jumped Over The Moon", will have you and your children in stitches. With her tongue firmly planted in her cheek, Gennifer Choldenko tells the "true" story of the very first moon jumping bovine. You will laugh out loud as you read this book, we guarantee it. The illustrations by Paul Yalowitz are equally wonderful making this a book you'll love having on your shelf. END

5 out of 5 stars Entertaining romance and suspense.......2007-02-27

Fiesta Moon takes you to a colorful Mexico where haciendas are haunted and superstitions abound. Corinne is an American with Mexican roots who is trying to help a local orphanage and find her biological family. Mark is an American businessman who doesn't put forth much effort to help anyone but himself. Linda Windsor develops these wonderful characters in such a way that you can imagine their pasts unfolding to motivate their current behavior. She weaves the romance throughout the story line - which is easy to do with such a romantic setting - in such a way that it warms the heart. I appreciate that her writing style is "hopeful romance" that avoids leading the reader to experience the disappointment of massive conflict between the romantic leads.

This is a sweet, suspenseful love story that will leave you wanting more of these characters and this author.

5 out of 5 stars Great romantic suspense .......2006-12-20

This is book two in Linda Windsor's Moonstruck Series and my favorite. I enjoy reading about the rogues. That's reading about them, not living with them. I like my men a little more steady in real life.
Mark Madison is the renegade of the Madison family. He's been sent to a remote Mexican village as a last chance to prove himself. Or as Mark puts it, his 'get out of jail card.'He's supposed to get the hacienda ready to open as an orphanage. But before he even gets to the hacienda he is adopted by a pig. Yep that's right, a pig falls in love with Mark. And if that isn't enough, he has a run-in with Corinne Diaz, who remembers him all too well. She's a volunteer at the orphanage and she isn't impressed by Mark Madison. But never underestimate the power of the Mexicalli Moon.
Add a hidden treasure, a ghost, and a really bad villain and you have all the necessary ingredients for a fun filled, romantic, suspenseful book. Put Fiesta Moon on your want list. It's a good one.

4 out of 5 stars cute.......2006-11-05

This was a very romantic book. Cute storyline, some good solid points about our relationship with God. Otherwise, was definetly a cute love story.

5 out of 5 stars An entertaining story combined with biblical principles on forgiveness and grace.......2005-11-02

After his third DUI, Mark Madison is overjoyed when his older, more responsible brother Blaine pulls some strings and offers him a Get-out-of-Jail-Free card by sending him to a minute Mexican village to oversee a building project for orphans. Mark, a 32-year-old single man who is permanently enjoying a life of fiesta, plans to make the most of this respite. But even the best-laid schemes can be and often are hijacked by circumstances, people, and most importantly, God. Even before arriving in Mexicalli, Mark has another car accident, and thus he enters this smallish town aback a truck of pigs smelling of swine and trying to shake off one that had become attached to his very person.

Corinne Diaz, a 27-year-old with a heart for people --- especially those without family, since she was once orphaned and then adopted --- looks upon the newcomer with the pig in both confusion and amusement. Then, as the swine runs wild, such commotion and near disaster ensues that Corinne is momentarily distracted as she races to the rescue of an elderly woman on a runaway burro-bound cart. Mark, seeing impending catastrophe, rushes forward and brings the cart to a halt. It is after this heroic act that Corinne gets her first up close and personal look at him --- and her response is one of contempt. "We danced at your brother's wedding...just before you became sick on my shoes." With a sigh, Mark asks himself if his day could get any worse.

Seemingly, Mark's reputation for living the high life cannot escape him. And yet, as the days pass --- those long, hot, never-getting-much-accomplished-South-of-the-border days --- Corinne and Mark find common ground in the oddities of the Mexican village. Their living conditions, the food, the help, even the social customs and the superstitions combine to make their conversations and humiliations more conducive to geniality and humor. While Mark attempts (often futilely) to get the orphanage into sound working order, Corinne's business savvy in working with the villagers helps the couple find further common ground --- but not without some injurious, cutting remarks, wounded emotions, and lots of inner reflecting. It seems that both are on a mission to erect a building and to tear down whatever ails the soul.

Author Linda Windsor offers a humorous yet lightly romantic tale that gratefully is profuse in its subtle comedic style. Windsor's characters are likable because they're so real, and as their foibles are so honestly portrayed, readers will smile when they commiserate with their frequently self-inflicted emotional pain. With easy conversation, the author provides not simply a story to amuse and entertain, but also slips in some biblical principles on offering forgiveness, not judgment; grace instead of condemnation. Above all, female fans will embrace Windsor's message not to become wallowed in yesterday's failures, whether they be poor choices, wrong attitudes, or faulty preconceptions. Today is a new day to embrace hope and life and start again.

5 out of 5 stars A charmer.......2005-06-25

At Madison Engineering, CEO Blaine Madison lectures his brother Mark for his third DUI offense. Tired of his sibling's shenanigans Blaine offers Mark a deal; if he brings in the hacienda contract on time and sober, he can take over the on-site management of their projects. Mark readily agrees as he wants to travel anyway while wondering why Blaine prefers to stay home with his wife and children.

Corinne Diaz came to Mexicalli, seeking information on her biological mother at the last known place she lived. She works at the Hoger de los Ninos orphanage at the local orphanage when Mark arrives to take charge of the renovation project. Corinne thinks very little of the alcoholic hedonist though she is attracted to him. He wants her too, but hates the scorn in her eyes. Matchmaking them is a haunted piglet who adopted Mark as her pet. However, what begins to bring the two outsiders together besides a deep attraction is someone, perhaps a voodoo practitioner, who wants the project stopped and them out of town.

Mark is an interesting character who all his compared unfavorably to his successful siblings, using charm with no substance to compete. However, Corinne, who initially write him off as a playboy with no core, begins to see little things in him based on his interactions with the children and his piglet; she encourages him and the underachiever begins to accomplish the mission. That Pygmalion Effect transition is the key to the inspirational romance FIESTA MOON; a fine Moonstruck tale filled with humor and a serious undercurrent that the locals believe is a voodoo curse on Mark while he deems that he is simply doing God's work.

5 out of 5 stars One of my top ten guilty pleasures..........2007-01-24

Moonstruck Madness was the first romance book I ever read. I look at it with a certain amount of nostalgia and fondness. A friend of mine, lent it to me to read in 6th grade and I never gave it back. In fact, I still have that copy and like others, have read it to shreds.

This book is probably why I'm addicted to historical "bodice-rippers". What makes this particular romance novel appealing is that it's set in the early to mid-1700's and it's not the typical regency romance at all.

Is there anyone else who's tired of boring balls, Hyde Park and Gretna Green?

In fact, McBain is one of those authors whose books very comfortably straddles that line between being historical fiction or historical romance because her books are very well researched and the historical events and places in her novels are as much in the forefront as the characters themselves.

If you liked this book and your looking for more than the usual modern romance you should try reading: Kathleen Woodwiss, Rosemary Rogers, Anya Seton, Elswyth Thane, Dorothy Dunnett, Diana Gabaldon, and Phillipa Gregory.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Read !.......2006-04-24

I first read this book forever ago (about 20 years !) & I loved it then. I recently re-read it and it is still a great read. Lucien and Sabrina are both head-strong and the other characters are also interesting and well-set against the two main characters. The fact there are 2 resentful and dangerous relatives out for what they can get makes the whole story engrossing. I love how it is set against a Scottish heritage giving the story great depth.

The following books in the trilogy are also excellent books.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best.......2005-05-05

I too have read and re-read this book until it has fallen apart. What woman wouldn't want to be Sabrina and have a Lucien in her life?
This, as well as the two sequels, is a must read for everyone who is looking for a little romance in their lives, but make sure you have time to read from cover to cover, because you won't want to put it down once you get into the thrill of the action.

5 out of 5 stars Fast and funny romance.......2006-12-20

This is the first book in Linda Windsor's Moonstruck Series and it's a winner. Caroline Spencer has agreed to chaperone her daughter Annie's class trip to Mexico. She is seated on the plane by Blaine Madison, whose daughter, Karen, is her daughter's best friend. He is also a Harrison Ford lookalike, and Caroline wants to make a good impression. Unfortunately, she is afraid of flying, and gets a major case of the hiccups. You can hear her all over the plane. She's sure Blaine is totally unimpressed.
Blaine and Caroline are thrown together constantly because of their daughters. Mexico and moonlight madness work their spell, but then the girls get caught up in a smuggling ring and suddenly the trip becomes a disaster.
LInda Windsor's characters are engaging, the humor is relaxed and natural, and there's plenty of page turning suspense. Paper Moon will leave the reader hungry for more. Fortunately, books two and three are available. So if you like exotic settings, humor and plenty of romantic suspense, check out Linda Windsor's Moonstruck Series. You'll be glad you did.

5 out of 5 stars Fun in the Sun.......2006-06-30

I thoroughly enjoyed Paper Moon. Linda Windsor has such a penchant for humor that you find yourself laughing out loud at the antics of Mrs. C, Annie, Karen, and Blaine. Any parent who has chaparoned a teen trip will relive some of the experiences through the situations Linda conceives for her characters. This is a delightful tale with so much good fun and a little bit of suspense thrown in for good measure. Paper Moon is a great read to take your mind off what ails you.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Way To Start A Series!!!.......2004-12-04

This read which happens to be the first in the "Moonstruck Series" deftly combines, suspense, romance, humor, and a strong spiritual message into a well rounded story that will have readers anticipating the next in the series.

Single parents Caroline Spencer, and Blaine Madison are both tackling to the best of their abilities of raising teenage daughters. When a on school trip to Mexico these two very different but damaged people find love but this new found love will be tested when their daughters are kidnapped. Will their faith in God, and in each other be strong enough to survive a parents worst nightmare?

Ms. Windsor has penned a very good character driven read. Caroline and Blaine are truly wonderful characters and her use of wit and humor helped to make them very real for the reader. These are not "perfect people" and as a result it was easy to see and believe that these two people were able to find love a second time around with each other. This is a read that I highly recommend you not miss.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful tale of second love!.......2004-11-22

Linda Windsor has a winner in "Paper Moon," Book One of the Moonstruck Series from WestBow Press.

Caroline Spencer is the divorced mother of 16 year-old Annie who, along with her best friend, Karen, want to take a school trip to Mexico. Naturally, they need chaperones, and Caroline joins them on the trip designed to promote family togetherness.

Blaine Madison barely makes the plane to join the school sponsored trip. Traveling with a group of Christian teenagers and their parents to Mexico makes Blaine feel uncomfortable. After all, he lost his faith in God after his wife died. But it will give him an opportunity to spend time with his daughter, Karen.

When he's seated next to Caroline on the plane, her natural humor has the stressed out Blaine smiling for the first time in ages. Then, the night of their arrival in Acapulco, the kids visit the disco club, Banditos, where no liquor is served. There his daughter Karen meets John Chandler, a senior at the University of California in Mexico City, and Blaine's parental instincts get into high gear. It's not only the difference in ages between his daughter and the college student that make him suspicious. There's something about John just doesn't sit right with him.

Unbeknownst to the travelers, John is involved in a ring of thieves who steal priceless stamp collections, meant to be sold abroad. John's goal is to find a naïve target: someone to mail the card carrying the stolen property from the States. Despite the rule of not accepting packages, Karen falls prey to John's request.

As the school group tours Mexico, Blaine finds himself turning to Caroline for help in understanding his daughter. The spiritual depth behind Caroline's words eases the guilt Blaine feels over the loss of his wife, and also helps bridge the gap between father and daughter. And Caroline finds herself attracted to the handsome, lonely widower. As the days pass, her attraction for Blaine continues to grow.

But when John discovers that Karen has lost the envelope he gave her, and then Karen and Annie disappear, Blaine blames Caroline. Caroline trusts in God to keep the girls safe. But is Blaine ready to give God - and Caroline - a second chance?

Linda Windsor has won numerous awards for her novels, including historical and contemporary romances, and after reading "Paper Moon," I can see why. "Paper Moon" is filled with adventure, suspense, marvelous humor and great sensitivity. To say I eagerly look forward to her next release is an understatement. This is definitely a not-to-be missed book!

3 out of 5 stars This book needed serious work.......2007-06-24

First, let me say that the story itself isn't bad. It's a fantasy written for young people and, as such, is pretty good. I would never give it to a young person to read however. I might read it to them, but not let them see it. This book needed serious editing and the publisher should be ashamed for putting it out in the condition it is. There is hardly a sentence that doesn't have a grammar or spelling error and the wrong word is frequently used. For example, when something like "he walked past the window" should have been said, the word "passed" was used instead. In the middle of many sentences, the line suddenly drops down to the next line for no reason or words are missing. Children have enough problems in school with writing properly. They don't need to see a printed book with so many mistakes. It's too bad. A decent story was ruined by a publisher who couldn't take the time or money to do a good job.

5 out of 5 stars Moon Struck .......2007-04-01

This is an updated review of the novel Moon Struck...
Like the review above the books that I purchased did have errors in it. However the Novel has currently been newly edited and revamped...I still found small very small errors like a quotation mark missing here and there but nothing serious. The novel brought dragons to North America were as another had brought wizards to the UK...give the novel a try..if you like simplicity and a fun read with adventure you won't be disappointed. Enkay is a new and up coming author. She has been working on the second to this series I have been informed- I can't wait!
This is my friends daughters review-( I bought her her copy:) )
I could really relate to what Kyra was going through in trying to find her place in the world as well as for her to be true to who she is. When Aaron came along he brought her into a world where Kyra's fantasies and reality came together offering a friendship not only with himself but the other dragons as well. Aaron in a wheel chair by day and walkig at night gave the novel a different twist. their friendship grows throughout the novel as they overcome obstacles. As the suspense twists and turns its way through the novel..I found myself laughing, being afraid for them, and cheering all at the same time. When Kyra, Aaron and their friends meet up with Grackle the writers captures the essence of the conflict..where I squirmed in m y seat waiting to find out what came next. The ending I have to admit was a surprise so I will not give it away. This novel is a must for any fantasy/adventure fan who is looking for something more than the same old stuff.

My Review:
I couldn't resist reading this novel from begining to end. The author not only captured my curiosity as they wove an eclectic tale about dragons, home school, military, peer pressure, adventure, determination in defeating an old nemisis named Grackle. The books characters are believable and easy to relate too. Such a refreshing offbeat mix a must read for any fantasy fan.

Book Description

Kyle Gustafson had been doing work he loved, with the space program, anemic though it was, until disaster struck and a shuttle was lost on takeoff. There had to be a fall guy, and Kyle was picked-but a few months later, the American space program instantly became a quaint relic when aliens in a gigantic starship orbited the moon and made contact with Earth. They said that they represented a vast federation of intelligent races and they hoped that Earth would prove eligible to join the Federation. Kyle found himself back in good favor, picked to interface with the alien representatives sent to Earth. But there were a few false notes in the utopian front the aliens presented. Surveillance and other satellites were disappearing from orbit in a way that might have made the Americans suspect the Russians and the Russians suspect the Americans, except that each was aware of the other side's disappearances. And when the aliens began handing out small objects of alien art to world leaders as tokens of friendship, Kyle became suspicious. Technicians investigated and found that the items were actually listening devices. Worse, odd events were happening all over the world which seemed deliberately planned to provoke the U.S. and Russia into war, possibly even a nuclear holocaust. Were the aliens trying to get Earth to wipe itself out? And why? Kyle would find that he had an ally among the aliens, but one who was regarded as a freak by her own kind. Her influence was limited, but Kyle had to find a way out of the crisis before the world exploded in nuclear flames, or else the aliens grew impatient and decided to do the job themselves. . . .

5 out of 5 stars if you like first encounters - this will be just your cup of tea!.......2007-02-26

A great, classic first-encounter novel for the 21st century: think Childhood's End, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and To Serve Man, served up with the cutting-edge media savvy of Jon Stewart. Lerner writes with grace, surety, humor, and political wisdom that draws on sources ranging from Damocles to Churchill. I snapped up this novel on Cape Cod Bay, and learned anew why I relish science fiction.

3 out of 5 stars Starts out with intriguing premise,.......2007-01-15

Loved the first one-half of the book when earth is unaware of the motivations of the aliens (Are they here for good or evil?).

The motivation of the aliens is certainly unique but I wish Lerner had written a better second half. The plot and the characters got a little boring. And, of course, we have the obligatory love story between the hero and heroine. But I was intrigued enough to finish the book and find out how it all ends.

3 out of 5 stars moderately interesting.......2006-02-09

Not a novel that will be considered great in science fiction. But Lerner does demonstrate an ingenious twist to the standard First Contact plot. It's a build out of a short story that appeared in Analog. More flesh on the bones of the characters. And an ending that goes beyond what appeared in Analog. If you never read the latter, then just knowing what I've written here, you should be able to identify where the original ending was in the story.

The action scenes are fairly limited. Not up to the combat sequences in a Weber, Ringo or Stirling book. As for the characters, I had trouble identifying with them. They seemed rather flat. But perhaps Lerner will improve over time.

1 out of 5 stars Only mercy is that this is not a trilogy (yet).......2006-01-15

Half-way through the book you learn the big secret. And it's not that big and not that funny or original or moving. I kept asking myself if this was meant to be "juvenile SF" but then no younger person deserves this drivel. Hard to care about any of the characters and the supposedly cynical conceit about the the nature of media and society is poorly done. [...]

4 out of 5 stars Twisted First Contact.......2005-03-24

Ed Lerner is a warped man. This book starts out as what seems to be a standard first contact novel. A huge spaceship appears and orbits the moon, and centauroid aliens called the F'thk land in Washington D.C. and tell everyone that the Earth has the potential of joining a Galactic Commonwealth.

But the protagonist of this story, science advisor Kyle Gustafson, is bothered by a multitude of little inconsistencies.

And every time you think you have a handle on what is happening, Lerner shifts the story in a direction you just can't guess.

A very fun read, and well worth your time and money. This story was serialized in Analog a couple of years ago, and I read it then. I just re-read it, and it was better than I remembered, and I thought it was good the first time.

5 out of 5 stars SHANLEY BRINGS US OVER THE MOON!.......2001-05-16

Alright, let's face it: John Patrick Shanley is a genius. How else can you explain a reader's overwhelming mirth brought on by the simple turn of each page from his fine Oscar-winning screenplay "Moonstruck" nearly 14 years after the movie's release? Who could ever forget Loretta Castorini slapping Ronnie across the face shouting matter-of-factly "Snap out of it!" Or mom Rose, at the kitchen table bellowing "Your life's goin down the toilet!", and last but not least ornery but lovable Cosmo declaring "Everything is temporary!" It's a movie/literary lovers delight... And who could forget Shanley's elevator ride in "Five Corners"... or what Heinz did to his delusional, corinthian topped mother. (It's a shocker!)... Oh, and Joe floating on his trunks in the middle of the ocean, picking at his eukele. Aw, it was so much fun to be able to go back and experience these fine tales. Thank God someone had the sense to publish them. Shanley fans will not be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars WRY, WITTY, BUT WRITTEN MORE FOR THE STAGE.......2000-07-04

Moonstruck and Five Corners are fun reads -- wry and off-beat. Also fun is the introduction written by Shanley, which describes the anxieties, fears, and dating experiences which helped him write these screenplays. Apparently, his writing is very personal. What is disappointing at times is his writing style. The author is a playwright by training and it often shows, particularly in Joe Versus the Volcano -- a very contrived and stagey screenplay.

Book Description

Once in a Blue Moon, fame and fortune actually take a backseat to friendship and love.

Jeanne Madison has earned her PhD at 26 and secured funding to find and excavate a treasure-laden 18th century caravel off the Yucatan coast. Between her mentor and a handful of graduate students, years of study, and all the government cooperation a marine archaeologist could want, she'll find the Luna Azul--or Blue Moon--by hook or by crook. When a tight budget forces her to hire Captain Gabriel Avery and his rust-bucket, Fallen Angel, the comely PhD's not sure it won't be the latter. The incorrigible skipper has the swarthy good looks of a Hollywood pirate and pushes every last one of Jeanne's buttons--even some she didn't know she had. His history of brawls, bullion, and well, romantic escapades may well sink the whole expedition. As the race for the Luna Azul treasure with an unscrupulous competitor gets heated, more than the fajitas start to sizzle. Soon Jeanne, the captain, and her crew must take a gigantic leap of faith, one that may salvage more than gold--perhaps even a hardened heart.

5 out of 5 stars Treasure and a handsome sea captain!.......2007-02-16

Move aside Captain Jack and make room for Gabe Avery! Okay, not really - Jack is my favorite. But boy-oh-boy, Gabe Avery is an amazing leading man. He's strong and roguish and has that soft side that he only shows to the leading lady.

Blue Moon is a treasure hunt of suspense and romance filed with entertaining characters and an exotic location. There's plenty of adventure and excitement in the hunt for a sunken ship and its treasure. Fans of Linda's other "Moonstruck" books will not be disappointed as she tells this tale of Jeanne Madison - the sister of the Madison men from the other books.

5 out of 5 stars entertaining romantic comedy.......2006-11-17

It was difficult, to say the least, but Jeanne Madison has finally pulled off the impossible. She has secured financial backing to find and excavate a treasure laden 18th century Caravel off the coast of Yucatan. God has smiled on her so far, so what could possibly go wrong. Well, for starters, she hires Gabriel Avery and his ship, The Fallen Angel. After seeing the run down boat, Jeanne feels that's an appropriate name. Gabe Avery is bronzed, muscled, has a tatoo, and a teasing glint in his eyes. He wears his dark hair pulled back in a ponytail and isn't what she expected in a ship captain, but she has to admit he adds a certain something to the scenery.

Treasure hunting isn't for the timid, and soon a competitor who will do anything to succeed is trying to take over. Jeanne begins to think she is in over her head, both professionally and romantically. Suspense builds as they scramble to recover the treasure before it can be stolen from them. Nights spent on the beach with the moon working its magic on Gabe and Jeanne weaves a romantic spell, but can the lady PhD and the rough and ready ship captain find lasting happiness?

Blue Moon is the third book in LInda Windsor's Moonstruck series and it's just as much fun as the first two. Set in an exotic locale with a quirky cast of characters, lost treasure, romance and humor, it's a story you won't want to miss.

5 out of 5 stars Hunting for love -- and treasure -- at its best........2006-02-27

When archaeologist Dr. Jeanne Madison plans her "Blue Moon" expedition to look for the Luna Azul, and early 18th century Spanish galleon that sunk off the coast of Mexico, she has no choice but to hire the only captain her project can afford, Gabriel Avery. Her former professor and mentor, Dr. Remy Primston, accompanies her to Cancun to meet the captain of a charter fishing boat. The handsome, dark captain who sports a British accent is far from the crusty image she had. Far worse, he reminds her of a pirate and his blue eyes make Jeanne nervous. Worse, one look at his rusty ship, the "Fallen Angel", makes Jeanne wonder if it can even hold any artifacts they might find.

Jeanne returns to Cancun a few months later to start the expedition, along with students from Texas A&M University and a former classmate of Jeanne's who is now a photographer who will film their discovery, if any, for National Geographic. Accompanying Gabe on the expedition is his deck hand, Manolo, and Gabe's lab, Nemo. When Gabe's nemesis, Captain Marshall Arnauld of the "Prospect", suddenly shows up, Gabe fears Marshall will try to steal any discovery, just as he had stolen the rights to salvage a ship Gabe himself found several years earlier.

Excitement abounds when the first sign of the Luna Azul's contents are found near a coral reef, but it's nothing compared to the excitement that Gabe stirs within Jeanne when they share dinner, or when Gabe reveals his concern when she comes down with a fever. Then strange things begin to happen after their discovery: Gabe's ship suddenly develops problems, and a strange man keeps watching Jeanne and Gabe when they're on shore. And the excitement is only beginning...

Linda Windsor's BLUE MOON is an exciting novel filled with adventure and intrigue, deception and suspense. It is also a story of love, set in the exotic seas of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. BLUE MOON is a true treasure for any reader who loves a great romance, and one I highly recommend.

4 out of 5 stars A light and sunny romance. A dab of suspense........2006-02-02

Dr. Jeanne Madison has secured limited funding to find and excavate the "Luna Azul" (translation: Blue Moon). It is a treasure-laden eighteenth century caravel off the Yucatan coast (Mexico). Along with Jeanne is the snobbish Dr. Remington "Remy" Primston who is documenting all for his future book, a few college students, and Ann Mills who is not only Jeanne's college classmate, but also a photographer with World Geographic magazine.

The tight budget forces Jeanne to hire the handsome Captain Gabriel "Gave" Avery. His boat may look ready to fall apart at any moment, but Jeanne knows that God will help her in her quest. Besides, Gave is the only skipper around that will agree to getting part of any treasure that they may find instead of a huge daily fee. Gabe and Jeanne are very attracted to each other, but Jeanne knows that a relationship between them is hopeless unless God helps Gabe see His light.

In the meantime, the American playboy Marshall Arnauld smells treasure. He has already stolen sunken site rights from others in the past, including from Gabe, and now he is after Jeanne's find.

**** This is the third in the Moonstruck series. The cover says it is the "new romantic comedy", however, I found very little comedy. Instead, I recommend this one as a Christian Modern Contemporary type of romance. A sweet read with lots of faith and a dab of suspense. Author Linda Windsor proves that you do not need a lot of steamy bedroom scenes and crude language to make a wonderful story. ****

5 out of 5 stars enjoyable inspirational thriller.......2006-01-21

Twenty-six years old archeologist Dr. Jeanne Madison believes she knows where the eighteenth century Spanish galleon Luna Azul sunk off the Mexican coast during a storm. With her mentor Dr. Remy Primston they hire marine biologist Captain Gabe Avery to take the two marine archeologists to the locale. Though Gabe has strong references including those of her overly protective brothers, Jeanne has doubts that he knows what he is doing though she admits to herself he is quite a hunk.

Gabe has more doubts than Jeanne about the success of this sea venture. He has been betrayed before from so called friends plus the Pollyanna believer in God team leader looks too young to be a PH.D though he admits to himself he finds her fascinating and pretty. As they sail, Gabe realizes he wants her and not just for a sea cruise fling. He cannot abide her so called mentor who he feels holds her back. However, even worse in his eyes is her naive attitude towards a charming snake he once called pal; Gabe knows the rat is her rival who will steal the claim and the fame unless he and his crew give 200 % to the woman who inspires them to be more than they ever have been before.

The third Moonstruck tale (see FIESTA MOON and PAPER MOON) is an enjoyable inspirational tale starring an idealist and a cynic falling in love while on a high seas adventure. The story line is action-packed yet the key cast makes for a fun time as readers will appreciate the antics and competition between the three men now in Jeanne's life. As always Linda Windsor provides a strong thriller with interesting characters enhanced by an impervious belief in God.

      Book Description

Yiddish poetry constitutes one of the great canons of world literature... Unfortunately, Yiddish poetry, in all of its range and brilliance, is largely lost to the general reading public because of the linguistic barrier.

In this volume, Barnett Zumoff has stepped into the breach by creating and presenting masterly translations of 85 Yiddish poems by the best of the women poets and 60 Yiddish poems about women by a broad range of the great male poets. Women play a major role in Yiddish poetry, both as brilliant creators and as beloved subjects of male poets: mothers, wives, daughters, lovers, and historical and legendary figures.

Readers previously unfamiliar with Yiddish literature will obtain a striking picture of a magnificent slice of world literature and will experience the emotional impact of great poetry. Those familiar with Yiddish literature will experience a revelation when they are exposed to the poetic creations of its women poets, whose work is far less well known that that of the male poets, but is equally brilliant.
