Book Description
An extraordinary story about the adventure of faith and the power of persevering prayer
On a summer's day in 1727 a community of Moravians started praying and didn't stop for more than 100 years. Throughout history God has mobilised such movements and moments of 24/7 prayer - from the Upper Room of Pentecost to Azusa Street in Los Angeles, through ancient Celtic saints and extraordinary characters like Alexander the Sleepless.
This is the story of a movement of the Spirit in our time, a move as ancient as it is modern.
As young people desert the church and AIDS orphans Africa, a new generation is learning to pray and obey like never before. From Communist China to Washington DC and from the ranks of the Salvation Army to anarchic German punks, the 24-7 Prayer movement has been interceding continually, night and day, since 1999 in more than fifty countries. This is their extraordinary story; an honest account of pain and perseverance alongside pioneering mission and miraculous answers to prayer.

Best book ever.......2007-02-21
THIS book is life-changing and one of the most impacting books I've ever read. After reading that book, I was so fired up about prayer and especially 24/7 prayer that I got a lot of different visions for prayer rooms. We are right now in the process of planning a prayer room and for having an awesome time with the Lord!!!! Everybody should read it who needs to get fired up about prayer!
It shows you how God still changes the World in an freakin awesome way!!!
a must read.......2007-02-12
If you have a heart for the lost, this book is a must read. This book, if implemented could change the heart of any nation. All pastors and certainly interecessors should read it for sure. It gets top rateing from me and was recommended by Bill Johnson's school in Redding.
Heart Encounter.......2007-01-20
An excellent book that changes your whole perspective on prayer, evangelism, and "doing business as usual". Our young people have hope and a future and they are embracing it world wide.
Red Moon Rising.......2006-11-10
This is an excellent book, I would encourage everybody to read it. It's uplifting and challenging, specially for young adults wanting to change the world for Christ.
I highly recommend this book.
Powerful Prayer.......2006-09-28
For every reader who's ever wanted to dig deeper into prayer; for every reader who wanted to learn about the huge Christian movement going on in Europe in recent years; for every reader who wants to grow closer to God through prayer, this book is for you.
I highly recommend it to any and every one. As a person who recently discovered the true meaning of prayer and how powerful it really is, I know that people can learn so much about themselves and God and the purpose of their lives through prayer. For those struggling with this issue or just want to learn more about real, 24/7 prayer and the Europeans behind the recent movement, this book is worth every penny.

Book Description
Award-winning author Rosemary Wells lays bare the senseless devastation of war in this stunning novel. As the Civil War breaks out, India, a young Southern girl, summons her sharp intelligence and the courage she didn't know she had to survive the war that threatens to destroy her family, her Virginia home, and the only life she has ever known. A timeless heroine of inspiring drive and bravery, India holds on to her dream of forging a career in science, unheard-of for a woman, in the face of battle, starvation, and tragic loss. Rarely has the Southern perspective on the war been told so even-handedly for young adults as in this meticulously researched, poignant, and riveting novel.
Customer Reviews:
Civil War fiction for all ages.......2007-06-24
Rosemary Wells (Mary on Horseback and the Max and Yoko books) proves herself once again to be a giant in children's literature. Her new book delves into the Civil War. Set in the magnificent and fertile Shenandoah Valley, the war's impact on this place is mirrored in the main characters life. India Moody, the 12 year old heroine, observes all of the pain, suffering, loss, a complete change in her valley and in her life - all because of the war. India's personal drive to get an education, to be a scientist, adds another dimension to her story. This historical piece will be a welcome addition to any book shelf.

Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03
A pretty mundane, pretty much died in the wood I would guess romance.
New Orleans vampires in the past, and present, circle around each other, as does a cop and a rich girl. Not too many interesting elements to be found here, and it is laid on reasonably thickly.
Easily avoidable, as far as the whole paranormal thing goes it is pretty dull.
Cheesy, Overdramatic Vampire Romance.......2005-04-24
First in a series, BENEATH A BLOOD RED MOON by Shannon Drake is a paranormal romance that's a cross between vampire melodrama and a police murder-mystery. Spanning 200 years, it follows the lives of the mysterious Montgomery heiresses, rumored to be vampires, contrasted with the modern-day love affair between a cop named Sean and the latest Montgomery heiress, Maggie. Sean is also the lead cop on a series of gruesome murders committed by a serial killer imitating Jack the Ripper - and who somehow is connected to Maggie.
I didn't particularly care for the story ... and my list of complaints is long. The book is actually a quick read and keeps your attention, but I felt it was too melodramatic (and cheesy), especially the prologue. I also didn't like the author's writing style; she wasted a lot of time on unnecessary "fluff" details and dialogue, none of which pertained to the plot or romance. The plot line itself was interesting, but I was rolling my eyes way too often to enjoy it and had figured out the major secrets long before they were finally revealed. The happily-ever-after ending was also wrapped up too nicely, with no explanation as to how "the miracle" happened. All in all, it was an unsatisfying reading experience.
FYI: Erotica writer Angela Knight's THE FOREVER KISS or JANE'S WARLORD both handle these themes much better, the former being about vampires, the latter having a time-traveling Jack the Ripper.
YUMMY VAMPIRES!!!!.......2004-09-17
THIS IS A GREAT VAMP. READ, PLUS IT HAS ROMANCE ,DANGER AND LUST ALL MIXED INTO ONE.... SHANNON DRAKE IS WONDERFULL.....
Pretty good Book.......2003-10-14
When i first started reading this book,i had my doubts. It starts off kinda slow, but picks up after a few chapters.I plane to read more by Drake after reading this.
A Great Vampire Novel!!!!!.......2003-05-24
I must admit that I am new to the sub genre of the vampire romance novel. I love the concept but I have just not found many authors that have thrilled me. Ms. Drake has sold me totally on the idea of a sexy, sensual vampire. I automatically pick up Ms. Drake's historic romance books, now I will pick up her Vampire novels as well!
Maggie Montgomery is owns a clothing boutique in the heart of the French Quarter. This is a special store since it has been in her family for generations. There has been a horrid murder in the French Quarter and there are blood drops found outside her backdoor literally. This leads NOPD detective Sean Canady to her doorstep investigating to investigate this beauty in connection to the blood drops found outside. Maggie is stunned and agrees to help in any way possible. Sean is totally drawn to Maggie in a way that he can't understand and begins to pursue the reluctant lady despite the misgivings he has that she is holding something back.
Maggie has secrets that she is not willing to share, she is a vampire. Needless to say Maggie is away of a past that she and Sean (Sean is an old soul as well) share, as well as the return of an enemy that means to destroy all that she has managed to create. She finds herself drawn to Sean and eventually falls in love with him. She still feels bad about keeping a part of her past from the sexy Sean, and her past may have a connection to the murders that are now plaguing the French Quarter. She may know who is performing the frightening "Jack The Ripper" type murders but is unable to prevent them. See the murder may be another vampire. Eventually Maggie must confront not only her past, but love and trust Sean enough to tell him the truth about her in order to help him catch a killer.
This was an incredibly fast paced book, set in one of my favorite places. Ms. Drake created a wonderful set of characters (both main and secondary characters) that really tell their own story. The chemistry between Maggie and Sean is wonderful, and I love Lucian....I can hardly wait until he get to his story! This book held me spell bound and totally changed my outlook on how good a vampire book can be! Do yourself a favor and get this book, full of suspense, and romance!

Customer Reviews:
Kiernan is always worth reading........2006-05-18
Caitlin R. Kiernan, Low Red Moon (Roc, 2003)
When you pick up a book by Caitlin Kiernan, there are some things you know you can expect. Top-shelf writing. Strange houses with dark pasts. Efficient, excellent characterization. Another world, in the layer below (above?) ours, with all manner of wondrous things in it. Leisurely pacing, to allow you to enjoy the experience. And, yes, you get all of them in Low Red Moon.
Deacon Silvey had two careers, one as a psychic helping out the police department, the other, his full-time one, as a drunk. After meeting Chance, the woman who was to become his wife, he left both behind. Now, a police detective calling in an old favor has landed Silvey's name for an unsolved case. Against the protestations of Chance, Deacon goes with the detective to the crime scene and finds the body of a friend of his from the old days. What Deacon sees entangles him in a web that goes far beyond this murder, both in terms of geography and in terms of Deacon's past. Meanwhile, Chance is having bloody visions of her own.
If you're already aware of Kiernan's work, then you know the level of quality you can expect. If you don't, some of the references here might confuse you; Kiernan's work is an ever-growing web around a mythology upon which this novel touches. You might want to start with some of her earlier work. When you get caught up, though, Low Red Moon is a treat. ****
Good Scary Tale.......2006-03-11
After reading "Bradbury Weather" in Subterranean magazine, I decided I wanted to have a closer look at Caitlín R. Kiernan's fiction. After some consideration, I picked up Low Red Moon from a local bookstore and read it through. I was enthralled, having a harder and harder time putting it down the farther I got into the work.
First off, the present tense narrative threw me in the beginning. Modern fiction conditions the reader to read in the past tense so when I started reading the book; it was difficult and slow. However, it worked well with the flashback being in past tense. The changes in tense gave the reader a definite indicator when they were in the story. I overcame the tense issue about 50 pages in and was reading at full speed.
Another problem I had, which is entirely with me, was I was trying to define what Narcissa was. At first, taking a hint from the title, I thought she was a werewolf. Then I began to doubt that, thinking that perhaps she was a ghoul. I knew Kiernan had steeped her story in Lovecraftian Mythos and because I knew that, I tried to drop the character into a preconceived hole. Needless to say, the she did not fit in any holes, but she was still an enjoyable and very flawed character.
The story is well told over all. The pacing. I enjoyed Detective Downs, Starling Jane and Scarborough Pentecost. The description was overwrought at times, but it did not slow the story too much. Her world was also well thought out and not fully explained - which is good. I liked how she pioneered her own mythos, not falling into the worn ruts that modern fiction and role-playing games have made.
I do have to say, I found the ending was too sketchy. I understand why the scenes seem to skip was characters fade in and out of consciousness and action. However, I am interested in exactly how Deacon left the tunnel with the baby. I did not expect it to be an easy thing and with leaving it out of the story, it detracted from it.
I would definitely recommend this story to friends interested in fantasy, horror or the Lovecraftian vein (in fact, I already have). Kiernan has a very distinct style, and I look forward to reading future works from her.
Ever Heard of Roger Corman?.......2006-01-18
"Low Red Moon" includes some wonderful characters; well-defined, thought out, and at times, very sympathetic. However, the plot is beyond convoluted. I was especially disappointed by the ending. Its head on collision with my memories of H.P Lovecraft drove me to re-watch the awful interpretation of "The Dunwich Horror," produced by Roger Corman in 1970. The ending of "Low Red Moon" was so similar (albeit, minus the Hounds) that I almost threw the book across the room. It's one thing to build on another author's work but an altogether different thing to use the same plot, ideas, and very world of another author. Bitter disappointment from a writer who can actually write.
Lovecraft's Heir.......2005-05-25
This is the sequel but not quite sequel to Threshold. Those of you that read Threshold will know what i am talking about and those of you that haven't you should. This novel center's around Deacon and Chance Silvey, now married with a baby on the way. All is not good in Silvey world because Deke is a recovering alcholic and spends all of his days trying not to drink. Than one day Deke is called into a investigation to use his Psychic Abilities to try and get a lead on the murder of a previous associate of his. What he finds is not pretty.
It turns out that a hybrid monster of a sort is on a killing spree and has her sights set on Deacons baby who she think's will get her admitted to The Hounds(see frank belknap long). This monster that is tracking the Silvey's is also being hunted herself as well. The two trackers are Scarborough and Mary Jane and they have been assigned as agents of The Hounds to track the hybrid monster that goes by the name of Narcissa Snow down and kill her.
This story is very well written but not scary in the same sense as Threshold. Ms. Kiernan really is the heir to Lovecraft in every way and is superior in some ways as well. I reccomend this book to anyone out there who is looking for a good horror novel in the same vein as Lovecraft and his circle.
Dive in.......2004-09-09
I read "Low Red Moon" months ago. It was the first book I'd ever read by Caitlin Kiernan. I devoured the text in a matter of hours, set it down satisfied with the tale, and then the haunting began. Should I permit my mind to wander (as it is wont to do) Narcissa Snow comes to visit. I think about the tragedy and horror that was her life, wonder what if - what if she had been accepted by someone, anyone? What if her mother had been a part of her life? What if the creature that was her grandfather did not exist? Deacon and Chance stop by from time to time to torture me with trying to figure out what makes them tick. It is a true sign, I think, of a great writer when she creates characters so real, so intriguing, that long after their tale is done, you cannot forget them.
I have just begun my love affair with Caitlin Kiernan's writing. I won't bemoan the fact that I just "discovered" her, instead I am delighted that there are so many books already written that I can indulge in. With a new book just released and no signs of Kiernan's vast talent waning, I have many years of reading pleasure awaiting me.

Book Description
In this collection of her provocative essays on Third World art and culture, award-winning filmmaker and theorist Trinh Minh-ha offers new challenges to Western regimes of knowledge.
Bringing to her subjects an acute sense of the many meanings of the marginal, Trinh examines Asian and African texts, the theories of Barthes, questions of spectatorship, the enigmas of art, and the perils of anthropology. In one essay, taking off from ideas raised earlier by Zora Neale Hurston, Trinh considers with astonishment the search by Western "experts" for the hidden values of a person or culture, a process of legitimized voyeurism that, she argues, ultimately equates psychological conflicts with depth, while inner experience is reduced to mere personal feeling.
When the Moon Waxes Red is an extended argument against reductive analyses, even those that appear politically adroit. Feminist struggle is heterogeneous. The multiply-hyphenated peoples of color are not simply placed in a duality between two cultural heritages; throughout, Trinh describes the predicament of having to live "a difference that has no name and too many names already." She argues for multicultural revision of knowledge so that a new politics can transform reality rather than merely ideologize it. By rewriting the always emerging, already distorted place of struggle, such work seeks to "beat the master at his own game."

Book Description
"James Lee Burke tells a story in a style all his own, in language that's alive, electric. He's a master at setting mood, laying in atmosphere, all with quirky dialogue that's a delight." -- Elmore Leonard
In James Lee Burke's last novel featuring Billy Bob Holland, Bitterroot, the former Texas Ranger left his home state to help a friend threatened by the most dangerous sociopath Billy Bob had ever faced. After vanquishing a truly iniquitous collection of violent individuals, Billy moved his family to west Montana and hung out a shingle for his law practice. But in In the Moon of Red Ponies, he discovers that jail cells have revolving doors and that the government he had sworn to serve may have become his enemy.
His first client in Missoula is Johnny American Horse, a young activist for land preservation and the rights of Native Americans. Johnny is charged with the murder of two mysterious men -- who seem to have recently tried to kill Johnny themselves, or at least scare him off his political causes. As Billy Bob investigates, he discovers a web of intrigue surrounding the case and its players: Johnny's girlfriend, Amber Finley, as reckless as she is defiant -- and the daughter of one of Montana's U.S. senators; Darrel McComb, a Missoula police detective who is obsessed with Amber; and Seth Masterson, an enigmatic government agent whose presence in town makes Billy Bob wonder why Washington has become so concerned with an obscure murder case on the fringes of the Bitterroot Mountains.
As complications mount and the dead bodies multiply, Billy Bob is drawn closer to the truth behind Johnny American Horse's arrest -- and discovers a greater danger to himself and to his whole family. How Billy Bob strikes back at evil and protects his kin is the masterful triumph of In the Moon of Red Ponies.
Beautifully written, with an intriguing plot and characters whose conflicts seem as real as life itself, this novel shows James Lee Burke again in the top form that has made him a critical favorite and a national bestseller.

In the Moon of Red Ponies.......2006-07-31
The reader is hard to get used to, the story good, lot of twists and turns, keeps you interested.
Writing because he can.......2006-04-21
I've read just about everything Burke has written and this is one of the worst. The various parts just don't fit together and I found myself drumming my fingers and wishing it would just end. I suppose the good news is that it did. More and more the author has his main characters wallowing in self analysis and contemplating their navels at great length. If you like that you like it but there's too much of it for me. In addition the plot is kind of pasted together and imparts no belief that it could happen as written or that it makes sense. And the actions of the protagonist become increasingly tiresome. Enough.
Billy Bob and Temple just can't cut it.......2006-02-14
Having become a James Lee Burke junkie over the last year, I couldn't wait to read "Moon". What a disappointment. Billy Bob and Temple in Montana just can't compare to Dave and Bootsie in Louisiana! The action wanes when it needs to wax - and Cletus is no where around to spice it up. If you like the Bayou stories, I'm afraid the Bitteroot Mountains won't elicit quite the same reading anticipation.
Burke fans will like this one.......2006-02-07
I'm a huge fan of the always-on-edge Robicheaux, Clete Purcell and I'd even buy a book all about Batiste. (Listening J.L.?) Billy Bob Holland is another matter. More in the mold of a Former Action Guy who occasionally has his placid semi-retirement disturbed by miscreants, BB has to take action and show he's still got it. If you're spoiled on the constant action of the Robicheaux novels, Billy Bob might not be your cup o' tea. Then again, he might.
A good read........2006-01-15
Redemption of character is the theme in this novel. Billy Bob Holland is the unwilling participant in a plot that concentrates on a number of diverse characters, all of whom trying to redeem themselves in their own eyes.
The theme is a common one in Burke's books and one in which I enjoy. This novel is well-written and worth your time in purchasing.
Book Description
"Red Moon Passage does not come from one particular culture. In renaming menopause for myself, I tried to find words that would describe both our growing out of the blood cycles and childbearing years, our indelible physical connection to the feminine, and the fact that as menopause is completed, we enter into a new realm of being. In every way, we are on a voyage to a new land."
--Bonnie J. Horrigan, from the Introduction to Red Moon Passage
In the spirit of The Feminine Face of God, Coming Into Our Fullness, and When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple, this new perspective on women and spiritual power, Red Moon Passage, celebrates menopause as an archetypal journey of transformation. Written with notable grace, it contains a personal story of sorrow and triumph as well as enlightening conversations with eight extraordinary women from different backgrounds and traditions: Jeanne Achterberg, Paula Gunn Allen, Angeles Arrien, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Kachinas Kutenai, Carol S. Pearson, Jamie Sams, and Barbara G. Walker. These women attest to the magical, life-affirming, creative and re-generative potential of menopause that is within every woman.
Red Moon Passage provides uplifting, thought-provoking insights about menopause as a spiritual journey to a new way of being. It shows that the Red Moon Passage is not a transition to an end stage of life, but is itself a magnificent and powerful new phase.

Such postive mentors !.......2004-04-17
How wonderful to find such positive guides and mentors in this cofusing time of life. The loss of our menstrual cycle makes us disconnect for a while from our own rhythms, passing through the menopausal journey is an in-between state, and it's easy to be confused about our own place in the whole scheme of things.
These women have been there, and they have words to guide
Red Moon Passage.......2000-08-22
This book is an exciting find. The wonderful selection of mentors for women seeking ways to survive a sometimes very tulmultous time in their lives gave me hope for a my heart and body being wiser for the experience. 'Fifties' Visions of a Bright Future.......2005-09-23
"The dream of space travel is glorious, the contemporary reality is dismal," remarked William Sims Bainbridge in 1976. But nowhere was it more glorious than on the front page of The Eagle, a weekly British boys' paper, in Frank Hampson's visionary comic serial, Dan Dare. The Eagle was published from 1950 through 1969 by the Christian Publicity Society and Hampson also drew a never-rivaled story comic of the life of Jesus of Nazareth called "The Road of Courage." As he says in an interview in this volume, Hampson wasn't religious, but he felt that "young people were getting a rough deal in those years so soon after the end of the war...I wanted to give them something that made the future more hopeful, in human terms."
Hampson gave unstintingly, creating one of the most visually arresting comics ever, until the Eagle was taken over by corporate raiders, and the job fell to his friend, an equally fine artist, Frank Bellamy. As with Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers, Dan Dare spun off numerous toys highly valued by collectors (Young, Duin and Richardson devote an entire chapter to Dan Dare in their book, Blast Off!: Rockets, Robots, Ray Guns, and Rarities from the Golden Age of Space Toys, Dark Horse Books), and in its heyday, 60,000 junior spacemen pledged their loyalty in the Eagle Club.
Titan Books, UK, has launched an ambitious publishing project to reprint all the color, two-page Dan Dare cliff-hanger strips in beautiful 9" X 12" hard cover, coffee table hardbacks. "The Red Moon Mystery" was the second Eagle serial, after "Pilot of the Future," and was originally published from vol. 2 #26 - vol. 3 #11 of the Eagle. As comic artist Cliff Claremont (X-Men) writes in the introduction, the weekly arrival of Dan Dare was one of the few things to lighten the gloom and doom of post-war Britain. As such, many now- grown fans will welcome his return. Amazon's low price makes Dan Dare the gift book of the year, and a new generation may find themselves captivated by Hampson's visions of the future.

Very thorough, thought provoking material.
A refreshing read. Nothing mundane about it.
Scripture references used to illustrate where each idea comes from, and is biblically backed.
Fasten your Bible Belts!.......2007-04-30
This book is amazing! Peter explains his point of view convincingly and respectfully debunks theories of old regarding the rapture and the anti-christ. I've read it twice and it's on the docket for a third read.
This is Cutting-Edge Eschatology!.......2005-12-30
Believing that the sum of God's word is Truth, Peter has taken many obscure Old Testament prophecies and tied them together with the major prophecies of both the Old and New Testaments in such as to give a wonderful picture of the times that are now upon us and the events that will soon unfold. I found his theory on the two Witnesses to be ground-breaking, and after having conducted my own eschatological studies for a number of years, I have not found one exegetical flaw in Peter's presentation. I believe that Peter has been given the gift of prophecy and that God has revealed much to him because of his willingness to learn and his incredible desire for the heart of God.
Every Christian who is looking for the Lord and feels that the time is near should read this book. Every Christian who is apathetic about the Lord's coming should read this book. Every Christian who is confused about the End Times should read this book, as well as every Christian who blindly believes in a prophetic model despite its exegetical flaws. And everyone who does take this challenge to read this awesome work must do so with an open mind and a belief in Christ's return and what the Bible has to say about it.I would also encourage any fans of Peter's book or anyone who is at all curious about this gifted author to visit his website at www.redmoonrising.com. I have a wonderful feeling that we will be seeing more of Peter Goodgame in the future! Congratulations, Peter, and keep it up!
An Excellent Addition to the Study of End Times Prophecy.......2005-12-24
IT SEEMS that the most original and thoughtful new Christian books published in the last couple of years have been released by small, independent publishers rather than the major Christian publishing houses. For fiction readers, there are Dr. Michael S. Heiser's The Facade, an entertaining and thoroughly unique blend of science fiction, ufology, and serious Christian doctrine, and The Ahriman Gate, another unique take on end times fiction from Tom and Nita Horn. Non-fiction works include The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse by Patrick Heron, Genesis 6 Giants by Steve Quayle, and David Flynn's Cydonia: The Secret Chronicles of Mars.
Add to this list an impressive study of apocalyptic prophecy, Red Moon Rising by first time author Peter D. Goodgame.
Building on what he sees as the best elements of the traditional "pre-trib" and more recent "pre-wrath" interpretations of prophecy, Goodgame lays out a new, logically constructed timeline for the Rapture and the Great Tribulation. He begins by making the case for placing Daniel's 70th week in the future, and proceeds from there to connect the timeline of that week to the general sequence of the judgments described by the Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets, and Seven Bowls.
The timing of the Rapture is a point of doctrine that causes more division between Christians than almost any other. Without going into detail, which might cause some readers dismiss the book if Goodgame's timeline doesn't match their own, I'll just say that Goodgame firmly grounds his conclusions on scriptural evidence. You may disagree with Goodgame's interpretation, but you will not be able to accuse him of pulling ideas out of his ear.
Goodgame's writing style is clear and easy to follow even if you're not a student of prophecy. He thoughtfully provides charts at the end of each chapter so you can follow his timeline as he fits the pieces of the prophetic puzzle together. Red Moon Rising is a well-written and important addition to our understanding of the End of the Age. Peter D. Goodgame has succeeded in wiping away some of the grime from the glass through which we see so darkly.
Outstanding! A Must Read for the Expert or Beginner.......2005-08-10
Peter Goodgame is one of the foremost thinkers in eschatology today. If you have ever been confused while connecting various elements of prophecy or have ever felt uneasy about an interpretation of a prophecy or timeline, this book is for you. Like all good teachers who have a command of their subject, Peter makes end time prophecy seem easy - unlike many other writers. The primary reason for this is that he lets the Bible say what it wants to say, and doesn't FORCE the Scriptures to conform to a model or system.
The result is a timeline and a common-sense interpretation that flows right along with the scriptures, JUST THE WAY YOU ALWAYS KNEW THAT IT SHOULD. As someone who takes Scripture as serious as life and death, this was a breath of fresh air for me.
I am convinced there is much about Bible Prophecy that God has chosen to conceal for His own good. But I suspect He reveals a little more as the time of fulfillment draws near. Some 20th century prophecy scholars did a good job with the knowledge they had available. To me, Goodgame has taken the foundational pieces of prophecy clearly supported by the Bible and, through the light of scripture, has opened it up to the next level, answering many of the problems earlier writers created by forcing pieces into the puzzle.
Goodgame brings the books of Revelation, Daniel, and Ezekiel - the major books of prophecy - together in a way anyone can understand. He gives you a solid foundation in the first two chapters, and from that all else falls into place. The way the many details of different prophesies flow so smoothly together, compared to previous writings, is one reason I think he has it right. His common sense approach to scripture is the other.
This book is the best place I know of to begin the study of Bible Prophesy. For prophesy experts, Red Moon Rising is a must read. For all of us, hopefully there is more to come from the pen of Peter Goodgame.

Book Description
Chung Kuo VI: White Moon, Red Dragon sees the reign of the Seven T'ang in a time of great, bloody upheaval. The rebel leader DeVore, thought dead by his enemies, has returned and is readying a terrifying flotilla to fight against the T'ang, the dictators of Earth. On Mars, another rebel, the long-exiled Hans Ebert, is formulating an audacious plan to bring a lost African tribe home again, and on Earth, the continental mega-cities of the T'ang begin to crumble as war ripples across the planet.
It is a time of endings and beginnings, when the last of the T'ang, Li Yuan, will make a terrifying alliance...when chaos will strike in the form of human-looking androids programmed to kill...and when Emily Ascher, a woman dedicated to liberty for the billions the T'ang have kept in chains, will see her vision blossom in blood red.
Customer Reviews:
Fantastic serie, bad book.......2004-06-01
I love the Chung Cuo serie. Great sweaping concepts, detailed and vivid persons, super grip on technichal details and thrilling plots. And then I read "White Moon, Red Dragon".
The first 400 pages are the usual thrilling page turners and then it just starts falling apart. The development, which is normally harmonich and logical suddenly fails details and reasons are missing. Persons reacts illogical and against their established personallity. Plots are build and suddenly abandoned. Other are suddenly pulled in from the left without any plausable explanation. Psychic powers and supernatual phenomenas suddenly enters the game.
You constantly ask yourself; "But why?" and the answers never comes.
The books "climax" completes this trend; a sea is drained just so that an invinsable army can be landed by a space amada on the opposite side and marched through the now empty basin and (surprise, surprise) 8 indians from Mars without really doing anything creates a flood, saving the world while a 9th indian talks in tongues. How and why the book as so many other things completly fails to explain.
Maybe this is just a very clever plot, building to the ultimative climax in book 7... or the book is just bad. I tend to conclude the second.
I'm likely gona get no. 7 in the seris just to see if Wingrove gets his act together.
A must have.......2003-04-18
Take the chance and embark on a long journey with David Wingrove. You will not be let down. Problem is, you will see nothing of your friends or family for the next three months.
But, that is what you are looking for in a book, isn't it?
Picture living in a humongous crawlspace..........1999-11-09
...underneath a city almost the size of a continent, and you've got "the Clay". We learned in earlier volumes that this was scientist Kim Ward's homeland. But now, in this volume, we get a closer look at the place--much of this book is set there. This is an "underworld" with none of the romance of the Sewers Of Paris as depicted in "Les Miserables". Two hundred years of the Seven's rule have created an underclass of people in both a social and a geographic sense, and it's beginning to boil up into a conflagration we couldn't begin to imagine in present-day ghettos and barrios. Meanwhile, the rule of the Seven has been on the skids since the previous volume--the only T'ang who's still a viable ruler may be the most decent of the original Seven, but that fact doesn't help a bit. Arch revolutionary Howard Devore--a Stalinesque type who as a cure for tyranny is worse than the desease--has come back from his exile on Mars. In the words of James Baldwin, it's "the fire next time", and next time is right now.
Wingrove's cycle builds to an impending climax........1998-11-23
Wingrove's Chung Kuo cycle has been compelling for a number of reasons, not the least of which is its believability. Despite his daring intent to combine politics, science, sexuality and history into one dangerous mix, his tale has never sunk into the category of easily-dismissable science fiction. He has done this by refusing to follow the lead of popular SF trends; he has, for the most part, eschewed the technical-laden side of SF storytelling, preferring to anchor his tale to the human element.
"White Moon, Red Dragon" departs somewhat from that formula, however, in its greater reliance on technology to progress plot and to solve problems, almost deus ex machina. But the masterpiece of the previous five books encourages me to expect a sublime and profound climax in Book 7, followed by an audible denouement that will bring Wingrove's vast vision to fruition.
This book is but a preliminary step to that greatness. Though paler than its predecessors, it nonetheless reflects their glory and brilliance.
EXCELLENT!!!.......1998-01-16
Filled with fast pace intrigue ,that kept you glued to each page ,book 6 countiued with the all the emotions that were so wounderfully expressed in all the prievous novels ,love, war, loylty, honer which ultimately led up to the disaterous confrontation between what was left of a fairly stable socity ,against total barbaric anarcy .I thought this finale war should have ended the seris ,but it seems mr windgrove has other plans .The big but is that he seemed to have run out of ideas the ending was to sudden after getting to the point of the grand climax then it all spirled down ward I was totaly disappointed ,however trusting in mr windgrove`s never ceasing to amaze me imagination the next installment ,should (I hope)make up for the disappointing ending in a otherwise excellent scifi novel.
