Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

More Political Than Prophetic.......2003-09-18
While the subject matter seems thorough and well documented, this is more a study of cults than of prophecy. The title is somewhat deceptive. If you are looking for a compendium of end-of-the-world prophecies, especially from a believer's perspective, this book is going to be a disappointment.
A comprehensive, fascinating, informative survey and guide........2000-03-05
James R. Lewis' Doomsday Prophecies provides a 'complete guide to the end of the world': a collection of beliefs from tribal roots, prophets, and those who have predicted doom from the beginnings of mankind to modern times. This examination of underlying questions and issues is intriguing.

Book Description
The brave new age of postmillennium terror is awakening and its harbinger is Aum Supreme Truth: a Japan-based global web of wired, technically expert New Age zealots armed with biologial weapons, driven by an apocalyptic vision of unprecedented destruction. With compelling immediacy, this book tells the terrifying story the cult reponsible for the Tokyo subway nerve gas attack, offering a revealing profile of its founder and leader, Shoko Asahara.
Customer Reviews:
You Will Be Amazed at How Kooky and Dangerous this Cult Was.......2006-10-27
This book is a wake-up call that cults can be both kooky and exceptionally dangerous at the same time. We dismiss their rants at our own peril. The book culminates with the sarin attacks of 1995, most of the book describes how Aum and its bizarre leader acquired scientific talent, money and facilities. Surprising to most will be the ties that Aum had to Russia. Useful for professionals engaged in CBRN protection, this book gives the reader a feel for how easy it was for the cult to synthesize Sarin, VX and some biological strains.
Was this a one-time unfortunate confluence of money, crazy ideology, and lax governmental oversight that will never be repeated? Or is it a blue-print for future terrorism, cults and extremists? The reader can form his or her own opinion, the author refrains from injecting personal opinion which is refreshing.
Because the impact of this attack still echoes across the world and has resulted in application of billions of dollars of US Government funding towards homeland security, a thorough understanding of the event is necessary for homeland defense and CBRN professionals. Highly recommended.
captivating topic, flawed execution.......2004-06-19
Kaplan and Marshall make a decent go of telling the fascinating story of Aum Shinrikyo, but a tabloid journalist's sensationalism and lousy editing cause this book to fall short of the mark. Still looking for a book on Aum which resists the temptation to replace engaging reportage with cheap thrills. All in all it's worth reading as a light introduction to Aum, as long as you don't mind a few one sentence paragraphs and head scratchers like "brains trust."
Captivating.......2003-07-10
David Kaplan and Andrew Marshall obviously have an amazing amount of knowledge to share when it comes to the underworlds of Japan. In this book, they do an outstanding job of telling the true story of AUM. Whether you like fiction or non-fiction, you will be capitivated by the story of this Doomsday cult. I give it 5 stars on a 5-star scale.
Spectacular.......2003-06-30
Kaplan's book about the Yakuza was very well written, but this book was an eye-opener. It was among the scariest tales I've ever read, and it featured lurid stories about Master Asahara's cult apparatus. This is a story every public security official should read, one about a ruthless group of religious fanatics who went the whole nine yards in their attempt to murder 90% of the Japanese peole so as to launch a holy war between Japan and the United States, and to bring about the end of the world. The accounts of the physical and mental abuse to recruits may stun even the most seasoned reader. It reminded me of the Holocaust. But most important is Kaplan and Marshall's exposure of Japanese society, which many of us view as a utopia. In this book and in "Yakuza", we see Japan as it really is, enslaved by corruption, hiding abject poverty, and losing many of its children to fanatics like Chizuo Matsumoto.
very interesting.......2003-03-03
Like all of the other people who read this book, I had to keep on reminding myself that it was real and a lot of people did actually have these thoughts and intentions. The thing that really got me was how recent it all was, I'm 17 and I'm so used to everything like that being ages ago - world war 2 for example. After I had read the book I realised that it was only written in 1996 so I searched to find some recent news on them only to find that Shoko Asahara's trial is still going, the cult have relaunched themselves and they even have their own website. They managed to do all what they did 10 years ago, technology has moved on a lot since then and I dread to think what they are capable of now. If you do buy this book, I would recommend you read the last few pages carefully, its like reading the terrorist forecast of New York, very scary and yet very true.

Book Description
This entertaining yet serious book examines the probability of apocalyptic scenarios the world could face in the future. Exploring all types of disasters, including natural crises like flooding, famine, asteroids, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, as well as man-made disasters such as nuclear war, and biological and chemical terrorism, this guide thoroughly evaluates and rates the likelihood of each possible event. A history of previous global catastrophes—the extinction of dinosaurs, the droughts faced by the Mayans, and the poisoning of the Roman Empire—is also included. Concluding chapters investigate ways in which mankind can avoid earth's total destruction.

Customer Reviews:
Abolishing War?.......2004-12-21
John Mueller makes two very big claims. First, he argues that war is a social institution, and that, like dueling or slavery (his two favorites examples), it can become obsolete, and actually is becoming so. The second, not unrelated, argument, is that the Cold War did not lead to World War III not because of nuclear weapons, but because of regular deterrence. Both claims are fascinating; Unfortunately, I think both are wrong.
Start with the second one. Mueller's argument is that while nuclear war is scarier than a non nuclear major war, a non nuclear major war is still pretty scary. "A jump from a fiftieth-floor window is probably quite a bit more horrible to think about than a jump from a fifth-floor one, but anyone who finds life even minimally satisfying is extremely unlikely to do either" (p. 116).
Mueller's attempt to demonstrate his argument is via a history of the Cold War, focusing on the crisis points. As history, it's quite good (although I recommend John Lewis Gaddis's We Now Know: Rethinking Cold War History). Mueller's point is that decision making in it were smarter and more rational then we give them credit for. I particularly appreciate his argument that US's decision to begin the Vietnam War was well considered. Mueller argues that the error in Vietnam was not the decision to begin it, but sticking to it after circumstances change (pp. 168-181). I don't know enough about the Vietnam War to properly evaluate the claim, but Mueller sounds convincing.
Alas, his broader theme does not. Although none of the crises in the Cold War were worth going to a major conventional war about, let alone a nuclear one, and although most Cold War leaders were rational, that does not prove that nukes had nothing to do with keeping the parties out of war. More significant, perhaps, is that even with nuclear weapons, some important people (such as Mau Tse Tung and General McArthur) were not afraid of major war. To use Mueller's vernacular, if even a jump from the fiftieth floor is seriously considered, clearly a jump from the fifth floor would not be beyond the realms of possibility.
As for the first major point, Mueller compares war with social institutions that are no longer with us. He argues that we should de mystify peace and war - war is not something essential to human nature, and peace should not be associated with "misty commodities" like "harmony, good will, cooperation, love, brotherhood and justice" (pp. 264-265). Abolishing war, like abolishing slavery, requires no major reconstruction of the human nature or the international system. Rather, war is becoming obsolete, because people no longer find it glorious. The very rhetoric of warfare has changes. Warmongers can no longer honestly proclaim, as Caesar, "I came, I saw, I conquered". Now it's "I came, I saw, he attacked me while I was just standing there, I won". (p. 18)
Mueller sees the change of attitude towards war as a major turning point. I'm not so sure. It seems to me that the rhetoric of warfare is always changing - the Pope no longer advocates wars on the infidels nowadays, and if he had, very few people would have listened. But the crusades ended a long time ago, and wars haven't stopped - they just changed goals and reasons.
A major difference abolition of slavery and the supposed abolition of war is that when slavery was abolished, all of it was. We did not abolish chattel slavery but maintain serfdom. But while major wars and wars in the developed world have mostly ceased, wars in the developing world and wars between the developed world and the developing world are still very much with us.
Strangely, Mueller hardly refers to the best explanation to the disappearance of war in the first world - the rise of democracy. Democratic Peace Theory is now widely acknowledged among political sciences (although there are dissenters, see http://www-hoover.stanford.edu/publications/digest/992/schwartzskinner.html). According to the "weak" version of Democratic Peace Theory, although democracies are as likely to fight as non democratic countries do, they do not fight other democracies. Since most of the world's developed countries are democracies, you would not expect them to fight each other even if war was not obsolete.
To fight a major war in the age of massive industrial capacity and of nuclear weapons is patently mad. Warfare will thus change, both in style and in rhetoric. But are we rid of that "non-peculiar" institution? Unfortunately, I think not.

A little ridiculous at times, but also chilling at times.......2007-02-27
You have to take a lot of this book with a grain of salt, but pretty much all of what you read in this book could some day happen, especially global warming, which despite what the expert below says, IS HAPPENING (and I am a conservative republican!!!). The Cyberterrorism chapter was probably the most ridiculous. But it is still interesting and chilling to read.
Hysterical and for the most part, unrealistic.......2005-08-31
This guy must be a democrat-since god knows when they've been screaming about global warming, WMD attacks and AIDS /Ebola epidemic.
So far none of the above happened. If we're smart(and there is no liberals in the White House) it probably won't happen in the future. However, I have to debunk this guy's theories about the end of days.
1) Global warming-possible in theory. Doesn't mean it will happen. They've been screaming about it hysterically for the last 20 years" It will happen in a few years! Be warned!" Nothing so far.
2) Plagues-once again-anything can happen but doesn't mean that it will. Mr Moran seems to think that AIDS is the biggest crisis the world is facing. Sorry to disappoint but AIDS have started with gays, drug users and prostitutes and its still there. You don't want to get AIDS- don't have unprotected sex and don't use drugs. Then, there is Ebola, Lassa Fever and various other horrible diseases. The solution to not getting infected with one of these nasty bugs is simple-DON'T GO TO AFRICA. Those illnesses(and many others) originated there and fortunately, they haven't been exported. Nothing there for any civilized person to do anyway.
3) Ice Age-refer to answer number 1
4) Weapons of mass distruction-well, author's solution, I'm sure, would be -DON'T HAVE ANY WEAPONS! Sarcasm aside, the only way to prevent some nut committing suicide with atomic bomb in his backpack is not to let him in the country in the first place. Of course, all we can do is to pray it won't happen.
5) Volcanic eruptions-they happen all the time and there is not much anyone can do about it. Best thing to do-don't live next to a volcano! Perhaps, poor saps living next to Mount Rainier should move-it really is a disaster waiting to happen.
6) Asteroid hitting Earth-a truly scary proposition but ...there is hope. According to media there is no way we can deflect or destroy an asteroid coming toward Earth. I, for one, find it hard to believe. Just like I find hard to believe that Star Wars doesn't exist. Lefties think just because there was no headline in the newspaper saying"Death Ray weapon built!" its not there. Personally, if I was the military I'd keep my mouth shut about it and shoot everyone who can't. I believe we have weapons and technology that public doesn't know about. Hopefully, that will solve an asteroid problem.
The end conclusion-the only reasonable threat is from Asteroid. You can safely skip the rest of the book
No depth but fun and closer to reality than our government.......2005-05-03
This is a quickly produced book that is an easy read on a plane. It will not give you any kind of depth on any of the issues and there are no refs to enable you to check anything. He covers asteroids, WMD's, greenhouse effect, ice ages, volcanos, plagues, insects, bioengineering, cyberterror and, presciently, tsunamis. He does not mention overpopulation, supernovas or the Doomsday Hypothesis(the seemingly absurd but quite serious idea that on general gounds alone it is likely we have lived half our total span as a species). His chapter on volcanos does not mention that Yellowstone Park in the USA is the worlds biggest caldera. To his credit he does take the greenhouse effect seriously and he was writing at least 3 years ago. If only the average citizen and the government had the same good sense.
Exploitation at it's worst.......2003-03-01
This book completely exploits people's fears to make a dollar. The problem with the book isn't whether or not the scenarios are valid or not (although there is a valid debate to be had there). It's that the scenarios aren't put in perspective. As far as I am concerned, this problem pretty much negates the validity of the who thing.
It's the equivalent of telling an agoraphobe about all of the ways they could be mugged while going to the grocery store. Could it happen? Yes. Is it likely? No. Are you doing them a favor? Certainly not. Mr. Moran isn't doing the public any favors either.
Excellent, Well-Researched, Real Page Turner.......2003-02-07
This is the first real pager-turner ever written in the genre of non-fiction, science-based books. Mr. Moran lays out ten exciting scenarios that could one day lead to the extinction of humankind: Weapons of Mass Destruction, Asteroid Impacts with Earth, Massive Volcanic Eruptions, The Greenhouse Effect, The Coming Ice Age, Mega-Tsunamis, Plagues, Cyberterrorism, Insect Invasions, and Bioengineering Blunders.
One of Mr. Moran's predictions has already been proven possible; in the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" chapter, he discusses the possibility that other countries may, in the very near future, use chemical, biological and/or other WMD against the United States. With a potential war on the horizon, this possibility has become a glaring threat we may have to face in months, or even weeks.
I found DOOMSDAY to be extremely well researched. Mr. Moran knows his stuff, and he explained terms and concepts a hundred times better than even my favorite college professors. I recommend DOOMSDAY to all interested in learning more about the dangers we may face both today, and in the future. Just because there is a very slim chance that an event should take place, does not mean it still does not pose a violent, and horrifying threat to all of humankind.

There's a New World Coming: An In-Depth Analysis of the Book of Revelation
ASIN: 0785269665 |
Book Description
John Hagee says, "The world as we know it will end, neither with a bang nor a whimper, but in stages clearly set forth in God's Word." His latest and most provocative book takes a cue from a cultural icon, the ticking clock. Hagee presents a prophetic "Doomsday Clock" and counts down the minutes-through prophetic events-which must occur before that fateful moment when every unredeemed individual must face God on Judgment Day. Citing examples from national and international media and using Scripture to confirm his insights, he presents a compelling argument to prove that time is indeed running out.

Daniel's understanding.......2006-12-01
Hagee reveals through this book the special visions that Daniel had in regards to end time prophecy. It's a compelling book that covers the thousand year prophecies and the antichrist. This book is similar to Apocalyptic Secrets of the Hebrew Sanctuary, a book that also covers Daniel.
Where does the word Rapture appear in the bible? Oh yeah it doesn't!.......2006-11-15
If you could do one thing better than GOD, would you still believe?...............
I would like you to imagine for a moment, a mother's love. I think we can all agree, the bond between a mother and child is one of the strongest bonds known to mankind, in any time or culture. Now imagine you are the mother of two children. One boy and one girl, their ages are unimportant.
Got the image in your head? Great, now imagine one child is always a troublemaker, quite a little heathen if you will. The child never listens to anything you say, gets in trouble at school, and even sometimes says they hate you. Child number two, is a perfect little angel, always does what they are told, hugs you and kisses you often and whispers their love for you every night before they fall asleep.
Of course you may discipline the naughty child, but do you still have unconditional love for both children mommies and daddies of the world?
Of course you say?
Well let's see..........
Late one summer night you decide to go to the corner store to buy some milk after the children have fallen asleep, upon returning only ten minutes later you are horrified to see that your house is engulfed in flames. Knowing both children are inside, and could be burning alive at this very moment, you know you need to make a quick judgement.
Which child will you save??????
What ??
Both you say?
Why would you save both children?????
What?? Because you love both of them??? Why?
One child is a complete terror, and doesn't even love you!!! Why would you do such a thing???
The Christian God wouldn't!!
What you say??? God has unconditional love, even more than a mere human mother?
Really????
Well, let's take a look at the GOD of love for just a moment...
God has many children in this world yet he punishes those who do not love or "believe" in him, with fire for ALL ETERNITY does that sound like unconditional love to you???
If I, as a mere human mother, can love my children with the unconditional love that GOD cannot, does he truly love and forgive better than us "silly" humans that he supposedly created?
Or are we all just ignorant children, hoping that our "father's" approval (with strict unrealistic conditions), equals love?
You decide... Can you do something better than God?
What you say, if he didn't love us he wouldn't have sent Jesus to "save" us and forgive our sins?
We'll believing in Jesus is still a condition isn't it?
Something to think about.
Ps.
The sins of god include: murder (of the whole world except the ark), impregnating a virgin, rewarding lot after he tried to give away his virgin daughters to the town, acceptance of polygamous marriages in the old testament, etc. etc. etc. If a human were on trial for the same things we would put them away forever. Yet we excuse God by saying he knows what's best for us and he can do whatever he wants because he is GOD. Our American laws are based on the ten commandments yet we follow the laws of GOD who cannot keep his own commandments. If God was truly a perfect being he would have known in his "all time seeing vision" that we would mess up, and he wouldn't have tested eve with the apple. If God never made mistakes why did he wipe out the entire planet with a flood after the first batch of people did work out? If God didn't make mistakes why bother with the ten commandments if he knew nobody could follow them and he would have to send Jesus to get crucified on a cross to make up for it? I thought God knew everything. Frankly I've seen better administrative work during the Clinton administration, and that's saying something.
When will the (educated) wealthy countries learn to spread hope through actual tangible help to third world nations instead of "helping" them with false promises of heaven while we steal their oil, diamonds, and hope?
We have battered those weaker than us with our "religion" for far too long
Somebody stop the planet, this "saved" Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist turned Evangelical Atheist wants to get off.

These are all the same.......2006-02-15
Whether it's the 'Left Behind' series, (such a charming title), or 'Countdown to Doomsday' or any of the other blood and thunder books, you can count on one thing: God is mad as hell at all of us, (except the 'chosen') and is going to unleash a fury against his archenemy Satan. The great cosmic battle will be played out at Armeggedon where Satan and God will will duke it out in front of the whole world. Well, most of the world. The elect will be taken by rapture into Heaven safely ensconced away from the raging, bloody battle.
Eventually, most of the world will be tossed into a flaming, eternal pit of torture for an eternity, while the saved get to look down on the agony of the unsaved and stick their tongues out: nyah-nyah! I just wonder if when Hagee sees Christ he will yell JJJJEEEEEEZSZZZZUUUUUUUSSS like he does on television.
And all this mind you, in the name of the Prince of Peace.
BOOK FAILS TO ADDRESS JESUS' PROPHECY OF "THE LAST DAY.".......2006-01-09
This book fails to address the words of Jesus Christ concerning "the last day" in John 6:39-40; John 12:48 and John 5:28-29 which are the basis for the historical view on this subject.
We interpret the unclear verses of the Bible by the clear ones.
Jesus says: "Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:40).
"At the last day" - not 7 or 1007 years before the last day as this author believes.
Jesus says: "There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words. That very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day." (John 12:48)
This author needs to accept the very words of Jesus Christ when He says "at the last day."
Jesus says: "The hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear my voice and come out. Those who have done good will rise to live and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned." (John 5:28-29)
This author changes the words of Jesus and tries to insert 1000 or 1007 years between Jesus' call and ignores the word "all". (See also John 11:24)
See 2 Peter 3:10-13 for a description of the last day. The rest of the Bible agrees with Jesus Christ not this author.

I Admire Hagee's Courage!!.......2003-09-02
I didn't read this book until recently but I do admire John Hagee for writing it. It shows a fearless respect for informing the people of God about what has already gone on and letting us know what to expect in times like these and also the very importance of reading our Bibles and not only reading them but, allowing the Word of God to penetrate into our minds, hearts and souls. For therein lies all the answers to what's going on all around us today.

Needed to be cooked longer and stirred more..........2004-08-19
I had great hopes for this book when I saw the list of authors who had worked on it. Unfortunately, it may be that too many chefs spoiled a stew that needed to be cooked longer and stirred more.
The authors reveal in the forward that the story was prepared piecemeal and then put together and edited - sort of an assembly line technique of writing. While promising in theory, in practice this process has its problems. The story doesn't blend and it can be confusing. It is possible to detect the very different writing styles of the authors from one section to the next and it creates a sense of disjointedness. Adding to this is the occassional awkward transition from one scene to the next - from one author to the next. For example, the Enterprise is in route to the planet and the next time it is mentioned it is already in orbit and fighting a battle. When did the Enterprise arrive?
While each one of these authors is a craftsman in their own right, together their different styles tend to clash (like listening to Pavarotti and Clapton at the same time). More editing may have produced a harmony but as it stands I think I prefer the individual craftsman's effort over mass-production.
On the upside, the plot is pretty good if somewhat predictable and it can be somewhat humorous at times. The concept of the "Doomsday World" apparatus and how it worked was inspired.
"Doomsday World" is a marked contrast to the the outstanding collaborative effort "The Disinherited" - an original series entry written by Peter David, Michael Jan Friedman and Robert Geenberger.
Maybe it was Carmen?
STNG #12 - Doomsday World - This one could've been better!.......2003-07-21
What do you get when you have a Star Trek The Next Generation novel written by the likes of Carmen Carter, Peter David, Michael Jan Friedman and Robert Greenberger? What I and everybody else who reads Star Trek novels were expecting was an outstanding novel that is exciting, enlightening, highly thought provoking and just plain fun to read. Unfortunately, while this novel is well worth reading, it doesn't quite live up to the expectations one might place on it given the caliber of the authors involved. After years of reading Star Trek novels, I believe I can definitely discern who wrote at least a couple of the parts. In "Doomsday World" we as Star Trek readers have the precursor to many of the outstanding duology's, trilogies and mini series that have been written since.
The premise:
A long dead race known as the Ariantu built an artificial world named Kirlos. That planet is now home to many different Federation and K'vin Hegemony races that have lived together peacefully for many years. Kirlos is also home to many different archaeological treasures and Captain Picard and the Enterprise have been sent to help uncover them. Once there, Captain Picard assigns Data, Worf and Geordi to the away team but upon arrival they soon find themselves cut off from the Enterprise and they're now the prime suspects in several terrorists' attacks. What follows from there is an interesting and intriguing plot that if it were written by any one of these fine authors independently, would've been an exceptional story, however, with the many "hands in the cooking pot," it comes off as somewhat disjointed.
Despite some of the problems with this particular novel, I would still definitely recommend it as good Star Trek reading for the casual or die hard fan alike. {ssintrepid}
Not as bad as I expected;.......2002-09-16
This book was written by Carmen Carter, Peter David, Michael Jan Friedman, and Robert Greenberger in concert. I expected a book written by committee to be sincerely bad. The four authors in question are all good enough to rescue this book from that fate, but almost any book by any one of them is better than this one.
Frankly, I thought that the concept was weak; I've read and enjoyed other "shared world" books, notably the "Thieves' World" series and the "Wild Cards" series, but in this case, ALL writing in the Star Trek universe already has all the advantages of such a concept, and I think that, left to themselves, we'd probably have gotten a novel at least as good as this one from EACH of these writers in the time it took us to get this one from the four of them.
The one possible reason for writing a novel this way is that it is potentially more fun for the authors than writing solo. I can see no other reason for the concept. Hopefully, having gotten this out of their systems, they'll go back to doing what they do best: writing solo.
The Whole is not Greater than the Sum of its Parts.......2002-04-03
Doomsday World is by no means a bad Trek novel. Ordinarily, it would be entitled to the standard three stars that decent Trek novels are awarded. Unfortunately, the promise of having some of Trek's greatest novelists (Carter, David, and Friedman) teaming together falls way short of the mark. With few exceptions, each of their individual Trek novels have been several cuts above the norm; that Doomsday World never rises above the average makes the result all the more disappointing.
There are some good moments, including Worf saving the day with a barrage of phaser fire (then griping that if he'd been allowed to blast away when he'd wanted to they could have avoided a host of problems) and an amusing, if out of place, Monty Python reference ("What's the average air speed of an unladen swallow?" Geordi asks a bartender).
If you are going to read this one, do it because it's a Trek novel, not because of who the authors are . . . .
And then they were four.......2000-04-13
Other reviews have focused on the fact that it took four writer to write this book. So what? It's no giant novel, but it's still a goo story with interesting bit players. The planet's many secrets have fun conclusions, and the characters are well written. I would expect this one would have made a better episode than novel, so try to imagine the visuals. I, for one, would like to see the dueling ambassadors again.
