Just one more book in the all-encompassing, enthralling, and utterly absorbing Left Behind Series.......2007-09-13
From the very first letter of the alphabet that my eyes looked upon inside this series of books, until the very last period of the very last sentence, I was hooked. Each one of these books absorbed my attention like no other book has ever done in my life. Biblically sound, theatrically entertaining, and brilliantly written, the Left Behind books will inspire you to dig into God's word and take the pieces of news from your T.V. screen and match them right smack-dab up with the prophecies of the Bible. Your hair will stand up, your heart will race, and you will find yourself helplessly caught in the suspense. Once you finish one of these books, you will desperately race to your computer screen or your local library to pick up the next one!

Kingdom Come - worth reading.......2007-09-11
I enjoyed this book. I read the entire series over the past few months, and this was the way to end it. It's more of a bible study than the other books in the series. Not as exciting, but if you read the story up until now, you should read this. Gives a good description of the last days.
Potter is Hotter!.......2007-08-29
As a work of fantasy, the Left Behind series is third-rate. It lacks the humor and exuberance of the Harry Potter books; the magical acts it portrays are quite simply boring. It lacks the sparkling darkness of language that makes the His Dark Materials books a delight to read. It lacks the sweep and grandeur of the Lord of the Rings series. Note please that I'm reviewing Left Behind merely as escapist fantasy literature. As theology, it's too contemptible to need reviewing. As a morality tale, it's even more contemptible, an interminable drone of bigotry, sexism, self-righteousness, and exploitation of the decent folk who congregate in America's churches.
Final Stand.......2007-08-18
The entire series was written in such a way that every new book had its own plot. A series well done. Thank you for the eye opener.
great transaction.......2007-08-14
My husband loved the book and has already finished it. The item came quickly and in great condition as promised
Book Description
Why is it that our current twenty-first century a.d. is so similar to the twenty-first century
B.C.? At a time when religious fanaticism and a clash of civilizations raise the specter of a nuclear Armageddon, many ask: Is history destined to repeat itself? What does the future hold? Will biblical prophecies come true, and if so, when?
Ever since Zecharia Sitchin, in his first trailblazing book The 12th Planet, brought to life the Sumerian civilization and its record of the Annunaki—the extraterrestrials who had come to Earth from their planet Nibiru, fashioned mankind, and gave us civilization and religion—questions have abounded. Are the ancient gods still here, or did they leave? Will they return? What will happen then? Will there be another Deluge or Apocalypse when Nibiru meets Earth? What about Planet X and the Mayan 2012? What about Jesus?
In The End of Days, a masterwork that required thirty years of additional research, Sitchin dares to give the answers by presenting compelling new evidence that the Past is the Future—that mankind and its planet Earth are subject to a predetermined cyclical Celestial Time.
Tracing historical events from the messianic fervor and use of nuclear weapons in the twenty-first century
B.C., Sitchin resolves ancient enigmas like the Nazca Lines or the origin and significance of the Cross, the Fishes, and the Chalice, places in context the events of the Last Supper and hidden clues like those in Da Vinci's painting, explains the space-related reasons for the everlasting centrality of Jerusalem, and—following in the footsteps of Sir Isaac Newton—deciphers the Time Code in the books of Daniel and Revelation and of the Day of the Lord and the End of Days prophecies.
In this remarkable and relevant conclusion to his bestselling The Earth Chronicles series, Sitchin shatters perceptions and uses history to reveal what is to come at The End of Days.
Customer Reviews:
Awesome FICTIONAL work........2007-09-26
What a great story! From a purely fictional point of view that is. But please don't take Mr. Sitchin seriously. Yes, he's done a lot of work and he's very passionate and I believe HE believes all that's in his books. But if you want facts, follow the work of true scholars.
There are plenty of reviews on this book and even more opinions I'm sure.
What's more important than a review is a call to reason. People - please... Just because you want or need to believe something is true doesn't mean that it is. When dealing with history and languages, I would highly recommend reviewing the work of true and accomplished scholars. Do this and you will likely get complete (as much as is possible) and the most accurate picture of the past as one can.
His credentials in no way qualify him to make such claims. If nothing else, look at his credentials and ask yourself how is this man qualified to make such claims?
I drive a fancy sports car and can give you the exact specs on the engine and body, from top to bottom. I could WOW the best of them with all the tech talk about the engine, transmission, suspension, etc. I could even carry on a detailed conversation with the mechanic if I had to. But I can tell you with certainty that if I was given a shop full of tools all to myself I couldn't fix my fancy sports car if it broke.
If you take your car into the shop be worked on, do you want the guy who talks like he knows what he's doing working on your car or do you want the guy with all the certificates on the wall that's PROVEN he knows what he's doing working on your car?
This is the case with Mr. Sitchin and his books. He talks a good line but has no credentials to prove he's anything more than just a fanciful talker.
Mr. Sitchin graduated from the University of London, majoring in economic history and he was a journalist and editor in Israel. How does this make him an expert in ancient Hebrew and the old Testament? In Sumerian culture? IMHO, this is a classic case of someone learning enough about an ancient language "to be dangerous". He absolutely sounds like he knows what he's talking about and sadly that fools a whole lot of people.
Like many, I was very taken initially with his ideas. But too much didn't add up. After months of research I was quite disappointed to realize that the basis of at least some of his theories (the ones I researched anyway) were too full of holes to be true.
There is an upside though - this a GREAT fictional story!
Real seekers of truth will check multiple sources and validate claims from many different sources. Do this and in time you will find the truth.
If you are looking to be entertained, look no further.
A LITTLE BIT CONFUSING..........2007-09-13
The book somewhat confused me because of some claims. The author also states that the reader should read his other books to understand this book clearly. Nevertheless, I still admire Zecharia Sitchin for all his efforts.
A Keeper.......2007-09-06
Buying a book is one thng haveing it be worth the storage space another. This is worth the storage space.
Creative .......2007-08-27
Sitchin can spin a tale of fiction that is inspired to say the least. He is universally hated in the astronomical, archaeological, and historical communities for his attempt to pass pseudo science off as fact. If fact is not what you are after, then buy this book and invest in a tinfoil hat.
A little disappointing ****** SPOILER ALERT *******.......2007-08-21
I've read all of Sitchin's books and was always pleased at the conclusion of each one. They were like adventure quests of hidden knowledge with the worst case scenario being a nice scifi story (and what a story!). This one left me wanting. I believe he just wanted to put his two cents in about 2012 even though he doesn't think it will be a date that anything significant happens. I think he's got a better theory floating around in his head but didn't want to share it for whatever reason. The beginning of the book is a bit boring as he has to tell the back story. The middle is more interesting with more detail about the tales of the annunaki and their petty power struggles. The end was a bitter disappointment to me. His theory on the davinci last supper painting, in which he thinks the space between jesus and mary/john is where elijah should be and the missing cup being the grail that elijah took, is just lacking. To me the alternate grail theories make more sense and have better documentation. Obviously this book is a must read if you've read the rest of the series as how can one not read the supposed last one but it doesn't hold up to his prior standard. When does Sitchin think the annunaki will return? Sometime in the age of pisces .... and that only leaves up to anywhere from 100 years from now to about 800 years from now depending on if you are going by the math or by sight.
Book Description
The woman Psychology Today calls "the best-known life coach in America" shatters the myth that willpower is an effective weight-loss tool and introduces a revolutionary approach to lifetime leanness based on a series of "4-day wins" that work with any weight-loss program
Substitute a good habit for a bad one and stick to it for just 4 days, and it begins to feel normal. That’s the surprising discovery that holds the key to lifetime weight control, according to life coach and New York Times best-selling author Martha Beck. Not a conventional diet or exercise program, The Four-Day Win combines evolutionary logic, psychology, and neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to restructure itself, which suggests ways to reshape our bodies) with strategies and success stories—plus large doses of humor and an insightful, straightforward approach to teach the principles required to reverse weight issues.
Drawn from hundreds of hours interviewing weight losers—in both her discussions with private clients and her groundbreaking consulting work for Jenny Craig—Dr. Beck reveals:
• why willpower-based dieting is doomed to fail
• how to step out of the conflict between the rule-making Commander (who bans all our favorite foods) and the rule-breaking Resistor (who gives in to cravings) and reach the Watcher, who is our happiest self
• what the latest research into the mind-body connection reveals about how our emotions affect our eating
Breaking down the weight-loss marathon into 4-day intervals, Dr. Beck provides effective strategies for changing the behaviors that make us fat. And if there is a relapse, readers take comfort in knowing they are just 4 days from turning it around.

The Four Day Win.......2007-08-23
I purchased this book because of my enjoyment of the author's monthly articles in Oprah magazine. I am half-way through it, and am finding much good information. There is too much of the irreverant humor, though, bordering on slapstick. As I have no more than ten pounds to lose, this may not be what I need as I don't have a background of struggling with eating disorders or problems. I love Martha, but I cringe at the over-use of this type of humor to get the point across.
Good book, terrible editing.......2007-07-30
I really like this book's gentle approach and it coincides with things that I've noticed about myself in the past. For example, at times when I'm giving myself lots of options and not really worrying about my weight, I tend to stay the same or even lose weight. When I'm actively dieting, I have wider swings of either losing or gaining weight. Not to mention the fact that after 20 years of dieting more or less continuously, I am sixty pounds heavier than I was when I started. Common sense should tell me that what I've been doing is not working. I am excited to get started with this program. Unfortunately, while I was impressed by the substance of the book, the book was distracting in its poor editing -- words left in where a sentence was obviously re-written, double negatives, too much "humor" that is not particularly funny. Most egregiously, in Chapter 14, the book discusses "12 EASY beliefs" and the author repeatedly refers to them as the "dirty dozen" but the book lists only 7 of these "myths." Come on people!
Glad I did not listen to the negative reviews.......2007-07-24
So glad I did not listen to the negative reviews, although there are not many. This book address lots of things I never worked on before, with a unique way of doing so. Have not had it long so will have to wait and see about the weight loss. But I have every confidence that it will happen.
I already can feel the different attitude I am having.
Go for it!
The Four Day Win: End Your Diet War and Achieve Thinner Peace.......2007-07-19
We all know that in order to lose weight we have to eat less and move more. This seems like a simple and obvious concept, so why doesn't it work. Why is it that the harder you try to lose weight (eating less and less and exercising more and more) the more likely that you end up craving junk food, binging, and eventually giving up? The Four Day Win gives us the answer.
Losing weight and being healthy isn't about willpower, starving ourselves to death, or exercising until we pass out. In fact, stubborn will-power is actually the problem. The key is listening to our needs and being kind to ourselves. Simplistically put, once we care to stop, listen, and understand our true needs, we soon realize that instead of dealing with our anxieties, our fears, and the things in our life that cause us stress, we tend to self medicate with food. It's seems so much easier to eat that chocolate cake than deal with that relationship issue or that job we hate. Then, we turn around and beat ourselves up because we weren't strong enough which makes us hate ourselves that much more causing us to binge. It's a horribly unloving cycle.
I'm eating less and I'm moving more but most of all I am paying more attention to my inner self these days. I'm constantly learning about myself while developing healthy self soothing and rat park strategies. I'm happier, healthier, and far more hopeful after having read this book. Four days really can change your life for the better.
Small Bites, Small Nibbles.......2007-07-18
Most of my adult life, I have been able to maintain, with relative ease, the same weight. Then, here comes midlife. And with it, a crisis or two. Factor in stress and a slowing metabolism, a more hurried pace, various anxieties, and the softness glued itself stubbornly to me and would not let go.
I can't say I have ever been among those who follow the latest diet trend. Pshaw. None of them have ever made sense to me. I got it: eat less, move more. Everything else is doomed to fail. I'd seen it enough among friends and colleagues: longterm, diets fail. To remain healthy lifelong requires a lifestyle, not one of suffering and deprivation, but one that can be maintained with ease and, yes, even pleasure. That's for me.
I picked up Martha Beck's book with great interest. I had recently read and enjoyed her book, "Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live." Now, here was a respected life coach and psychologist who debunks diets and disdains suffering as a way to lead to healthy living. She speaks of attaining "thinner peace." Diets, after all, are stressful, and the last thing we need in the typical American lifestyle is more stress. Indeed, recent studies have shown that the same amount of calories ingested by stressed animals and animals at peace turn into fat on, you guessed it, the stressed animals, while the calm ones remain at a healthy weight. Beck is onto something scientifically sound.
Another important item Beck has understood well is our short attention span. Four days. We can do just about anything for four days. If we approach any change in our accustomed routines, if we do it in small bites, small bites eventually accumulate into a big pie (so to speak). If we do not overwhelm ourselves with immense and heroic goals, we might just be able to conquer this gremlin.
Her approach is almost frustratingly gradual. But that is as it should be. Gradual changes can sneak up on us to become life-transforming. And any change begins in the mind, in the spirit, deep in the heart where all our anxieties breed.
Since I began reading Beck's book, I can honestly say without any deprivation (I still eat at restaurants with my friends, still munch out of the party snack bowl, still eat popcorn while watching a movie), I have been shucking off, gradually but permanently, the extra bit of softness midlife gifted me. I am also feeling a thinner peace. Being at peace, for me, may have been the most crucial factor in this, as I have come to believe that in the past years, I was carrying the "weight of my emotions."
Beck's book is effective and it's downright funny to read. With various thoughtful questionnaires, she prompts us to think about what brings us stress, what brings us peace, and how to work with that. She teaches how to quiet the voices in our head, how to identify emotional hunger versus physical hunger, how to feed both. Have a nibble of chocolate - and read. Four days at a time.
Book Description

3/4 done.......2007-08-18
I have read through the whole series and almost done with the last book. I don't think this will be the last book, cuz I'm almost done and there seems to be too much that is going to happen. Anyways, I read all the negative remarks, obviously from nonbelievers. A nonbeliever is borrowing my books and she likes the fiction story. However, it's based off the book or "Revelation" What they wrote is only a glimpse of what is coming whether you believe it or not. They could be right on, I doubt it, but what will happen is going to be something close. No matter what it's not going to be pretty. I read the "Davinci Code," and many believers can't believe I did, but it's a great fiction book, one of the best books I've ever read. Honestly, doesn't matter if Jesus did get married, and had a daughter. According to the bible, getting married and having children is holy and considered a blessing. Besides, he is the same Jesus who died on the cross and rose again.
Glorious is The Right Word.......2007-07-22
This book makes you think. It also makesyou want to do more comparing with your Bible and write your own ideas.
These guys must be stopped!!.......2007-07-19
There's not really much to say here. It just scares me to think about the impact these two douche bags have on so many people. I mean alot of folks out there believe in this garbage. Scary stuff....So let me get this strait...we're supposed to follow this psycho maniac named Jesus who flings people into fire only because they are non believers?? It's like he gets a righteous boner watching eyeballs melt and skin disintegrate...Lahaye and Jenkins have distorted the simple, yet beautiful message of Christ. Way to go fellas!!! Congrats on the book sales!!!
last of the set.......2007-05-09
great series. Even non-Christians should read at least the first book because the idea is great as fiction. A perfect ending.
LEFT BEHIND GLORIOUS CONCLUSION!!.......2007-03-08
WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS HOW VERY MUCH I HAVE ENJOYED THE LEFT BEHIND SERIES
AND THE CONCLUSION DID NOT LET ME DOWN. TIM LAHAYE AND JENKINS HAVE DONE
A BRILLIANT SERIES AND ENCOURAGE THE READERS TO LIVE BETTER, SHARE THE
WORD OF GOD AND LOOK FORWARD TO WHAT LIES AHEAD FOR US BELIEVERS.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

No more back pain.......2007-10-06
I love this book. I use it all the time. When I do these exercises all the time my low back pain is nonexistent. When I stop, the pain slowly creeps on back. I bought this book for my sister and she said it helped her too.
really good and effective.......2007-10-03
author gives the basics of backpain and causes which we overlook in general. first you should beleive in the process(dont make the pain to take control over you as it is more mind+body related) and follow it sincerely. Only difference what i found is that it takes around 30-min and not 15-min for any of the series a/b/c.Back RX: A 15-Minute-a-Day Yoga- and Pilates-Based Program to End Low Back Pain
Very Good Book.......2007-09-20
This book is an excellent back therapy book. The author has clearly experience back pain and understands the difficulty of getting moving again after an acute episode of pain.
One reviewer criticizes the book because he or she was looking for a specific type of yoga guide. This is not a yoga guide, nor is it many other things. It is a great back rehab book. This reviewer should have read the 48 point font title of the book.
Excellent starter book.......2007-09-12
I recently suffered my first real back injury. I spent almost a week on my back completely incapacitated by pain. As soon as I was able to move, I read this book and began doing some of the exercises from it. I found that the exercises had an immediate and very positive effect, first in reducing the pain and now building both strength and flexibility. When I was able to schedule physical therapy, the therapists were happy with my progress and added only a few exercises. My recovery has been very rapid and I'm certain this book played a significant role.
I found the introductory commentary quite helpful in introducing the physiology of the back, describing various causes of pain and remedies, and mapping out the future of my spine as I age. The advice on posture when sneezing or coughing post injury ("lean back, look up!") was worth the purchase price on its own.
I don't think there is any "one-size-fits-all" answer to back pain. Workouts need to be tailored to the needs of the individual, and will change over time as injuries heal and muscles strengthen. As such the ideal program will incorporate elements from many different sources. Because this book outlines three different workout regimens -- one for during healing, one for during post-trauma recovery, and one for ongoing strengthening -- I had a lot of options to help find a workout which works well for me.
I do have a couple of criticisms of the book. The discussion of some of the exercises do not make it entirely clear what muscle group should be affected, which made it a little harder to figure out whether I was doing it right or if I was ready for a more challenging exercise. Also, the book is firmly focused on the lower back (and hips). As a software engineer, I find that I need help with my upper back and neck, and this book does little to help me with that.
I doubt this book will be a single all-encompassing answer to your back-pain prayers. However, I expect it will help most people interested in it in the first place. For me personally, it was a real god-send.
After one week, it is definitely helping.......2007-08-31
I bought this book about a week ago and have done the exercises every day since. I notice an immediate difference after going through the routine each morning (I generally wake up with enough pain that I am hunched over as I walk from the bedroom to the coffee maker; after the routine I am able to stand up straight as well as walk and sit on a chair with little or no pain). I am also noticing an overall reduction in pain in my lower back at all times -- I can sit on the stool at my breakfast bar for longer than I could before, and just generally my back feels better and I am less hunched over than before.
Couple comments related to other reviewers' complaints:
(A) "The exercises are too basic." I am generally fit and have done a lot of yoga, so after four days of doing Series A, I decided to "graduate" myself to Series B in advance of the recommended eight weeks. So far, this is working well. Series B is only a little more challenging, but more to the point, it includes stretches and poses that I can tell (because I can feel it) are targeting the precise areas of my back that need it.
(B) "Anyone who has been to a therapist already knows everything in this book." Probably true, but I think the book is a great idea for people like me who tend to avoid the hassle of going to a doctor. Sure, I've talked to my PCP about my low back pain, at which point she tells me it's probably muscular and offers to refer me to a specialist -- total hassle, time out of my life, plus god knows how many co-pays and added HMO expenses. My low back pain is chronic and I know I should probably see a specialist (in my mid-30s, my low back hurts pretty much every day and I have thrown it out, on average, once every 12-18 months -- requiring 3-6 days immobility on bed or couch to recover -- since my early 20s). But I live in New York City, I'm busy, phys therapy is expensive and I basically would just rather avoid that. For all those reasons, this book is perfect in that it's an extremely affordable investment that shows me exactly which yoga poses will improve my back and saves me a trip to heaven knows how many doctors.
So basically, if you'd rather avoid dealing with a round of healthcare, but your back is bothering you and you don't want to just ignore it, this book is a frugal way to learn a practical yoga routine that will effectively target your lower back.

This book is the most spiritual DAILY walk with God that you can have while facing the challenges of weight loss. Particularly helpful is the empahsis the authors place on sharing meaningful scriptures each day and suggesting that you MEDITATE on these scriptures each day and evening before bedtime, so that you carry the word of God around in your heart...the only place where God knows your true sincerity to HIM. This book really helps with successful Weight Loss by showing the power of God's word as your MAJOR SUPPORT. Time and Money Well Spent - So Different from All the Others! .......2005-08-14
Maybe I'm the exception, but this is the first time I've ever thought about diet (not dieting but lifestyle) and exercise as a God thing. It's always been a me against myself struggle where I always came up short in the end.
It seems so obvious now that it's almost embarassing. God can do all things including help you move to a healthy life style in a supporting and loving way. The authors are ladies after my own heart. They clearly identify with same lifestyle issues I struggle with and write in a way that I get.
My mom and I did this together, long distance, and will continue to reread it again and again. It is that powerful and that good. A few months and 20+ pounds later, it's too early to truly say with certainty, but I think it's life changing book for me. I highly recommend!
Motivation Without Guilt.......2005-08-08
I am impressed with this helpful book, as the authors identify with the reader's struggles, challenges and achievements. They also offer motivation in a positive way, helping the reader to depend on God and His Power. They avoid using guilt as a motivational tool, and for that, I am thankful.
Terrific Tool of Encouragement.......2000-09-20
Claire Cloninger and Laura Barr have written a powerful "little" book about being "Faithfully Fit"....I began reading it each day and 17pounds later I continue to "reread" it....just wish it was for 365 days of the year. I learned so much about how to change my thinking. Not only on the foods I choose but also how God looks at us as "whole" people - body, mind and spirit. I highly recommend this book for motivation and "correct thinking" in acheiving the "Temple" God desires for us.
Faith, fun and fitness - and success!.......2000-06-29
So, you think you can make me and my 5 fellow weight loss class chunky's enjoy themselves while fighting back the fat? Fat chance, we said. Then, we read this book! A collective 60+ lbs later, we, in our newfound size 6,8 & 10 joyful bodies are still chuckling and re-reading this wonderful book. "Faithfully Fit" contains scripturally based curricula including anecdotes, daily steps and tasks, and tools for real change for health and true fitness. If you don't read this book, you are missing an opportunity to change your life. "Faithfully Fit" is a permanent fixture in my kitchen!

Book Description
An eye–opening book about prophecy, Catholicism, and the last days. Has the view of the Church of Rome as the woman who rides the beast in Revelation 17 become outdated? Hunt carefully sifts through history and prophecy to provide an answer.
Customer Reviews:
GRUESOME.....BUT TRUE.......2007-09-13
This book is based on biblical prophecy and thats all there is to it. Any true bible believing christian knows that you can not just take what you like from the bible and everything that tickles society the wrong way can be tossed. There are way too many similarities in the book of Revelations for the Roman Catholic Institution not to be the Harlot that it speaks of. People need to wake up and come out of her. Christ and Christ alone is the only way to get to heaven.
Dishonesty at its worst.......2007-04-08
I have had a copy of Dave Hunt's book for a number of years. As a Church historian I was shocked by his poor understanding of history, Church documents and outright dishonesty in his handling of sources. When Hunt can find a source he can't simply twist, he simply makes things up to suit his purposes.
Want proof?
On page 339 (paperback), Hunt wrote: "The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine bluntly declares:"
And then he lists this indented quote with brackets in the original:
"Man can obtain a knowledge of God's Word [only] from the Catholic Church and through its duty constituted channels."
"When he has once mastered this principle of divine authority [residing in the Church], the inquirer is prepared to accept whatever the divine Church teaches on faith, morals and the means of grace."
So what's wrong with that two paragraph quote? No such thing exists - at least not the way he listed it. Let me explain. Yes, there really is a Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, but you won't find that quote in it as he listed it. First, check Hunt's own footnotes. You'll discover that the pages on which this quote appears is pages 25-27. I have a copy of the catechism from the same publisher. The quote does not appear on the pages listed. Maybe that was a simple error. Look through the catechism, however, and this is what you'll discover. The second paragraph of the quote is on page roman numeral vi. In other words, it's on the second page of the catechism. The first part of the quote is on page 36!!!!! That's right. Hunt transposed the two quotes, pretended they were one contiguous quote (after listing them in the wrong order) and then got the pages wrong or simply falsified the page humbers. Hunt's book is filled with rank dishonesty. To say that Hunt took the quotes out of context is a gross over-simplification.
Another example shows up on page 95. Here Hunt cited Henry Chadwick, the author of Early Christian History, as proof that "Pope Leo I (440-61) boasted that St. Peter and St. Paul had 'replaced Romulus and Remus as the city's [Rome's] protecting patrons." Hunt's intention is clear. He wants his reader to believe that Catholicism is merely paganism with a veneer of Christianity pulled tautly over it. The problem is that his example doesn't work for him. If you actually read Chadwick's book, however, page 243, you'll discover that Chadwick made it clear that Leo was a champion of Christianity, told his fellow Christians to not mix their Christian beliefs with paganism and unearthed and stopped a Manichee infiltration of the Church. Chadwick is clear. Hunt tries to falsify Chadwick's opinion of Leo. Such handling of sources is not only dishonest but thoroughly unchristian. Such dishonesty, however, is par for the course for Hunt.
A friend of mine, also a Church historian, was given this book by an anti-Catholic when he was considering becoming a Catholic. He saw through it instantly and was saddened to see that people believed these sorts of things. We were fortunate. He had a master's degree in church history and so did I. Most other people lack that sort of education, don't read much, won't bother to check Hunt's sources and will be fooled. Sad.
Unfortunate and off the mark.......2007-03-28
As many reviewers have noted, this book comes across as an anti-Catholic polemic. That is unfortunate because I see no Christian value in empty polemic. If Hunt's intention in writing the book was to point out the doctrinal differences between Roman Catholics and Protestants then he failed. If Hunt's intention in writing the book was to present a balanced, exegetically sound discussion of Rev. ch. 17 then he failed. If Hunt's intention was to repeat observations and anecdotes about corruption in the Roman Catholic Church then he succeeded, but I personally don't hold that to be an especially useful objective, and I think that is a misuse of Rev. ch. 17. It would certainly be possible to write a book about corruption in the various Protestant denominations as well, but I would make the same complaint about that book as I do about Hunt's book.
Space does not permit a full analysis of Rev. ch. 17, but let me point out that "spiritual Babylon" as a corrupting force goes back to the historical city of Babylon. There is evidence for this both in the Bible and in extra-biblical sources. The text of ch. 17 points out that the "seven hills" "are seven mountains...and they are seven kings". To read this as referring to any city is simply poor hermeneutics. What the text does seem to be telling us is that by the time we reach the events mentioned there will be a worldwide "church" or religion of some sort. Undoubtedly it will include people from various Christian denominations, as well as people from other religions. We are told, for instance, "(1 Ti 4:1) But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons". This is a statement about the Church (all Christendom), not merely one denomination. For this religion, or
"church" to be worldwide it will need to embrace other religions in some way.
If someone wants to explore the differences between various Protestant beliefs and Roman Catholic beliefs then I suggest there are far better ways to do so than to base your understanding on Hunt's book. Historically, many Protestants looked to Luther's formulation as the essential crux of the dispute: man is saved by grace alone (sola gratia), through faith alone (sola fide), and we hold to Scripture alone as the highest authority (sola scriptura). Today, some churches that think of themselves as "Protestant" no longer hold to these essential differences, and have moved towards the traditional Catholic teachings on some of these issues.
As a last point, I noticed various factual errors in Hunt's book, so it is not difficult to see that his "zeal" overcame his objectivity when he was writing this book. It would be tedious to double-check everything he says, even though he uses endnotes, but be cautious about what he asserts as factual.
A Woman Rides the Beast by Dave Hunt.......2007-03-10
A powerful exposition of the history of the Roman Catholic Church with extensive bibliography. Key quotes of popes and other doctors of that church, along with detailed accounts of significant events relating to its evolution over time, seem well sufficient to contradict the church's claim to inerrancy in doctrine and authority (even apart from the Bible). I thought emphasis on Catholic/Nazi coziness took more space than necessary, but there's plenty here for the Christian apologist and inquiring souls of all Christian persuasions. Engaging -- read all 550 pages in 2-3 days. Some will protest "Catholic bashing", but it's a weak claim in view of Hunt's strong attention to factual details and the case he makes for the supreme importance and urgency of this information.
Garbage.......2007-03-06
I wish the author had talked to Roman Catholics about the Catholic faith before writing this book. He should have also visited Catholic Apologetics web sites, so that his book would be accurate. Unfortunately, 99.9% of this book is horribly wrong.

For the average American watching CNN, the conflict in the Middle East is a complicated affair, mired in an ancient past and an uncertain future. It also seems like a distant story, one that only remotely touches upon the temples and churches beyond the Middle East. Not so, explains Gershom Gorenberg, a senior editor at the Jerusalem Report. In fact, the threat of apocalyptic religious violence is happening now, and it's happening everywhere. It is fueled in part, he says, by Christian leaders in America's fundamentalist churches.
To help readers make sense of it all, Gorenberg centers his fascinating discussion around the Temple Mount, the world's most desired piece of religious real estate. It is where King David erected an altar, where Solomon and Herod built their temples, and where the Dome of Rock now stands. (Cain even murdered Abel, according to ancient legend, over who would own this place.) The Christian far right now stakes a future claim to the Temple Mount, where they predict (or at least hope) the "Third Temple" will be built shortly. Gorenberg offers the impressive research of a seasoned investigative journalist, yet he possesses the narrative skills of a novelist. The result is an enthralling and informative read. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
In this provocative work, seasoned journalist Gershom Gorenberg portrays a deadly mix of religious extremism, violence, and Mideast politics, as expressed in the struggle for the sacred center of Jerusalem. Known to Jews and Christians as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary, this thirty-five-acre enclosure at the southeast corner of Jerusalem's Old City is the most contested piece of real estate on earth. Here nationalism combines with fundamentalist faith in a volatile brew. Members of the world's three major monotheistic faiths--Judaism, Christianity, and Islam--hold this spot to be the key to salvation as they await the end of the world, and struggle to fulfill conflicting religious prophecies with dangerous political consequences. Adroitly portraying American radio evangelists of the End, radical Palestinian sheikhs, and Israeli ex-terrorists, Gorenberg explains why believers hope for the End, and why prominent American fundamentalists provide hard-line support for Israel while looking forward to the apocalypse. He makes sense of the messianic fervor that has driven some Israeli settlers to oppose peace. And he describes the Islamic apocalyptic visions that cast Israel's actions in Jerusalem as diabolic plots. The End of Days shows how conflict over Jerusalem and the fiery belief in apocalypse continue to have a potent impact on world politics and why a lasting peace in the Middle East continues to prove elusive.
Download Description
Jerusalem's Temple Mount is the holiest site in the world and the place where today's apocalyptic fever could most easily erupt into real-life catastrophe as fundamentalists of three faiths vie to bring about their vision of God's kingdom on earth.

Missing the Mastodon on the Mount.......2007-09-23
This book was first published in 2000 so it has a very feel Nineties about it. The author seems intent on deriding all types of fundamentalism but one mostly encounters well-published cases of Jewish and Christian extremists involved in crimes relating to the Temple Mount. There is nothing wrong with irreverence, but it is clear that Gorenberg was either completely unaware of the mounting threat of radical Islam or decided to underplay it. Yes, folks, those fundi Christians and Zionists are the main threat - that is what Ms Amanpour still feeds us on CNN so it must be true?
The Temple Mount, an area of such significance, should be treated in a much more serious and scholarly fashion - that is why I recommend The Fight for Jerusalem: Radical Islam, the West, and the Future of the Holy City by Dore Gold. Despite that, Gorenberg's work still has some redeeming features in the catalogue of incidents involving disturbed or fanatical individuals, the occasional flashes of humor and the insight into Israeli politics through the 1980s and 1990s.
The author repeatedly warns against perfectly sane and mainstream Jewish and Christian groups that cherish Mount Moriah for its history and prophetic significance, because he fears that their attachment to Judeo-Christian prophecy contribute to inciting crazed individuals on the fringes to take radical action. He paints with a wide liberal brush when he repeats the slur that "prominent American fundamentalists ... support ... Israel while looking forwards to an apocalypse in which they expect Jews to die or else to convert." For the real motives of Evangelical support for Israel in the Land and in the Diaspora, please consult Standing With Israel by the Jewish author David Brog. There is also a witty and empathic look at Christians who love Israel in A Match Made in Heaven by Zev Chafets.
Gorenberg claims that the disappointed expectations of certain fringe groups in the year 2000 will only lead to more extremism. There has been very little evidence of that on the part of Jews and Christians, but quite disturbing developments on the Islamic side. He frets about the actions of the Israeli government that has taken pre-emptive action against a cult group by deporting them before they had a chance to attempt mischief. I think the Israeli government is right in exercising vigilance and taking strict actions against groups intending to cause disturbance on the Mount. About the suicide/homicide bombings and the obsessive anti-Semitic propaganda in the Arab media and official publications like Palestinian Authority textbooks, he doesn't have much to say.
What I found valuable is the information on the layout of the actual Temple Mount and the theories of various archaeologists on the exact location of the Temple, the Holy of Holies and the real identity of the rock. It might be the one covered by the Dome of the Rock or the one northwest of that covered by the Dome of the Spirits. A map of the area makes it all very clear. Other revealing insights include the tolerant way in which Israel acknowledges the authority of the Waqf, a Muslim body, over the Mount itself while Jews agree to pray at the Western Wall. That has been the agreement since 1967 when Jerusalem finally returned to Israel.
Gorenberg notes that people are story dwellers who live in stories passed down by a long cultural tradition and that millennialism is likely to end in despair. Throughout the book he singles out Binyamin Netanyahu for special criticism, claims that literalism and the false hope of the end born of the 1967 War were fallacies joined by the ancient error that God could be owned by owning a place. He indeed has a problem with "literalism", claiming that it is often the method of millennialists who look forward to an entirely new world: " ... they place prophetic texts at the center of religion - and insists that the words must be read as factual, tactile accounts of the future." Nowhere does he even entertain the notion that them thar Scripture might have something important to say. I infer that he is oblivious to the fact that the rebirth of Israel in 1948 was the major miracle of the 20th century.
The period since the publication of The End Of Days has indeed seen events taking an ominous turn, but the threat comes from Israel's neighbors in the Middle East, not from Jewish or Christian Zionists. The Iranian president Ahmadinejad threatens to erase Israel and claims to have 600 missiles aimed at Israel while boasting about his country's rush to produce a nuclear weapon. Syria, known to possess unconventional warheads, receives North Korea's nuclear weapons and tries to conceal them in the far east of the country. Backed by these two rogue states, Hezbollah is rearming in Lebanon. In the south, Israeli towns suffer barrages of rockets from Gaza. All this while a new tide of Anti-Semitism, often in the guise of Anti-Zionism, is sweeping the world.
Those who are interested to find out what those Scriptures that Gorenberg sees as only stories have to say on the matters of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and the Land of Israel, will find some interesting thoughts in Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg, The The Final Move Beyond Iraq by Mike Evans and Why Care about Israel? by Sandra Teplinsky.
For all its misguided ideas, wrong priorities and ignoring of the elephant in the room or should that be the Mastodon on the Mount, the book still provides some important information, a few laughs and insight into the Israeli post-Zionist mindset of the late 1990s. It concludes with 15 pages of notes and an index.

Information about religious elements not widely know.......2007-03-06
Gorenberg's book seems like a precursor for his much more successful, and more fully realized, The Accidental Empire. There, Gorenberg shows how the struggle over land capture in the Six Days War has been effectively controlled by religious Zionists. In The End of Days, Gorenberg illustrates how both Christian and Jewish fundamentalists, in their struggle over the Temple Mount, continually bring the world to the brink of war. [In fact as I was reading this book, there was a clash on the Temple Mount between Israeli police and Muslim worshippers.] As long as the Temple Mount is a holy site for two major religions, Gorenberg's book will have merit and be relevant. There is also interesting information here for people who do study these topics: the centrality of the red heifer for the rebuilding of the Temple and Muslim apocalyptic notions. Both are subjects not widely discussed in the West, and in this book, Gorenberg provides an approachable summary of them.
Another in a long line..........2007-01-29
Here is yet another alarmist tome by an author who can't seem to see the truth that is exploding all around him. I suppose I can be considered a fundamentalist. I believe that because the scripture compels me to "love my neighbor just as I love myself" that I should actually do everything in my power to do just that. I know hundreds of other fundamentalists and I am dismayed by these books from journalists or commentators who are clearly secular if not agnostic/atheist in their world view who attempt to analyze the state of fundamentalism. How absurd. It's alike a rich white kid from Beverly Hills writing books about the pitfalls of being a welfare mother in Compton.
Sam Harris also writes with apocalyptic alarm about the millenarianism of fundamentalist Christians. He loves to cite studies which show that a large percentage of Christians believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ. The scares the pants off of people like Harris and Gorenberg because they immediately conclude that every decision made by such believers is based on their belief in the imminent return of Christ. This is complete nonsense. Yes fundamentalist believe that Christ will return and many think it will be in their lifetime (though very many do not believe this) but they still have retirement funds and 30 year mortgages. They still have babies and plan for their college expenses. This belief does not change anything about ones day-to-day life because any good Christian knows that one can never discern the day or the hour of His return. Most fundamentalists that I know do not have a unified or comprehensive understanding of Revelations and most of them clearly recognize the oblique and metaphorical nature of the book. To suggest that people are voting for a President based on anything from the book of Revelations is total fabrication. If that happens, it is anomalous at best and certainly would not weigh significantly on an election. Christians vote for many reasons and the irreligionists might be surprised to find that there is a great deal of diversity of opinions in fundamentalists' circles when it comes to politics. They speak of the religious right as if it is a monolithic body receiving its marching orders from Falwell and Dobson.
What is even stranger to me is that there exists in the world today a belief system with more than a billion adherents and by all accounts hundreds of millions of fundamentalists which plainly does advocate a doctrine which is dangerous and which is bringing death, dismemberment, slavery, inequality, and brutality to wide swaths of planet earth. These people are commanded by their god to "make war on the unbelievers who live around you." (Sura 9:123) and they are doing that with a horrific fervor. This doesn't alarm anyone? Even within a stones throw of these bloodthirsty zealots who are rewarded in heaven for being psychopathic killers, journalists like Gorenberg continue to feel that the more dangerous belief is that Christians in America believe the New Testament (which has none of the incitements to violence which fill the Quran). Christians aren't exploding buses full of innocent people, or blowing up soldiers' convoys, or cheering wildly on 9/11, or oppressing women, or beheading people and taping it to send to the adoring fans. These horrible right wingers are not denying girls the right to be educated or committing genocide and slavery in Darfur and they aren't really killing or hurting anyone. The Christian right wing is in fact sending millions of dollars and thousands of missionaries to the poorest nations on earth to build hospitals, provide clean water, repair schools, and give tons of food and medicine away. They live lives of self-sacrifice to be teachers, nurses, doctors, and pastors to the poorest of the poor. I am in utter dismay to understand books like this and I wish that such authors would just say from the start: "this is an op ed piece....I am attempting to find justification for my own far left, West-hating views and as a sideline, I've never met a Palestinian I didn't like (with bombs strapped on or without). In Palestine today, more than 80% of the school children when asked what they want to be when they grow up, say that they want to be suicide bombers. Yes, but Christians are the real problem!
Fewer stars in the rating = problems with objective writing.......2006-02-28
Looking carefully at the preceding reviews suggests those who disliked or were disappointed in this book already had a bias, religious or political. Indeed, my friends who are adamantly fundamental Christians or Zionistic Jews (sorry, I don't have any fundamentalist Islamic friends) found fault with book. At times humorous; at other times frightening, the book gives an objective overview to how crazy people will act in the name of their religious zeal. The book offers few suggestions to solve the nearly impossible problem, another sign of an intelligent author.
A well-written and important book..........2005-10-28
Gorenberg, senior editor at The Jerusalem Report, calls the Temple Mount - that site in Jerusalem where two Jewish Temples once stood and where two principal Islamic sanctities now stand (the Dome of the Mosque and Al-Aqsa Mosque) - "the most contested piece of real estate on earth." If that were not enough, he argues that this ancient man-made hill, thirty-five acres in size, has a potentially huge role for "We live in an era of millennial dreams," many of which center on the Temple Mount. His well-written and important book focuses on the Temple Mount's central role for some members of all three main monotheistic faiths in how they understand the future course of the world. While Muslims get their due, he portrays them basically as spectators to a drama whose main actors are Christians and Jews.
At least some Christians of a pre-millennial Dispensationalist outlook would be ready to eradicate the Islamic sanctities atop the Temple Mount on their own, but to their frustration, this is not theirs to do; rebuilding the Temple is for Jews to carry out. All Christians can do is nudge Jews in their preferred direction. Thus does Israel find itself cast, Gorenberg explains, "through no choice of its own, in a starring role in a Christian Endtime drama." Broadly speaking, this means Evangelicals and others support Israel in its conflict with the Arabs, usually with a Likud orientation. But Christian and Jewish radicals alike face the same problem: no Temple can be built so long as Israel permits the Islamic authority effective sovereignty over the Temple Mount. Their solution is simple and sweeping: throw the Muslims out and bring down the two mosques, ignoring their spiritual importance, beauty, and historical significance - or the political danger involved in this step.
And Muslims? They watch with great wariness this potential cooperation between Jews and Christians to pull down Al-Haram ash-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary) atop the Temple Mount, in the process also getting swept up in millennial fevers. In a startlingly un-Islamic vision, they see the creation of Israel beginning a clock that is moving the world toward (take your pick) the triumph of Islam, the destruction of Israel, or the end of the world.
The Temple Mount is, in short, a disaster waiting to happen; "it is all too possible that someone, today anonymous, will try to ignite [a catastrophe] at the Mount." Walls and buildings that date back to antiquity are flimsy man-made creations that could easily be blown up, burnt, or otherwise damaged by a small band of religious zealots.

Customer Reviews:
I've recommended this book for our church library........2007-09-27
If you want to know an uptodate understanding of the end times scenario, this is the book to buy. Richard Perry is easy to understand, and easy to read. I, too, was raised being taught the Pre-Trib, secret rapture belief and held to this teaching for over fifty years. I was a strong believer in this teaching until I retired and had more time to study what God's word actually says, and came to realize, the secret rapture can be found no where in the scriptures. It is simply not there.
Because of the persecutions befalling them from the Roman government and the Jewish leaders, the Thessalonians of the early church were upset because they thought Christ had returned for His people, and they had been left behind. Read what Paul the apostle said to them:
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
"Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?"
Paul was telling these people that Christ would not come for the believers until there is first a falling of the Church into apostasy, and we see that son of perdition, the antichrist claiming to be God. Don't let anyone tell you Christ can come at any moment before these things happen. This secret rapture belief, which has been preached for some 177 years, is an invention of Satan himself. When you have the chance, do a little research and read about John Nelson Darby, the father of dispensationalism, and Edward Erving, which Mr. Perry discusses in this book.
One reviewer wrote the truth when he said:: "The author is so bias against the pre-trib rapture".
You will not be disappointed in this book if you are searching for the truth. This is a book you will want in your library. I highly recommend it. There are many who hold to the pre-trib secret rapture belief, and, many great men of God in the past have preached this belief. The many, however are not always in the right. I give this book five stars.
The end draws nigh.......2007-08-12
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in the last days according to biblical prophesy. Though God says that no one will be able to tell when the end comes, he will give us signs to know when the end is near. This book does a terrific job of breaking down Revelations and explaining the signs and warnings that will bring us to the end times. This book has me wanting to know more, more than just what happens in the end, but more about both the love and the wrath of God.
Read it with an Open Mind.......2007-07-19
If you are a person who only likes to read books whose authors agree with your view, and you are a pre-trib rapture believer, this book isn't for you. But if you are a person with an open mind, or you are already post-trib in your beliefs, this book offers a great presentation of the post-trib position. The author presents the material in a format that is easy to understand, even for someone new to the area of Bible prophecy. The author also avoids the emotional hoop-la that characterizes a lot of prophecy books. He also avoids the name calling and put-downs that tend to characterize prophecy presentations.
This has become the new book I give to someone who really wants to understand prophecy. The book leads the reader through the various Bible passages using only the literal interpretation of each one. By the end of the book, the author has built a strong case for believing in a single second coming of Christ after the tribulation and before the outpouring of the wrath of God.
It is unfortunate that the book is in the "Idiot" series, as I've heard comments that "only an idiot would read this book." Personally, I feel that only a person who wants to know the truth will read this book. If you are such a person, this is the one book you most want to own.
One of the Best Books ever to be written on Bible prophecy!.......2007-06-27
If you are wanting to read a book that will give you a complete overview of the Bible's last days prophecies, yet also provide meaty, deep detail to answer the tougher questions, this is your book! I have been studying prophecy seriously for about 6-7 years now and have yet to find an author that can simplify the weight of material about the end times like Richard Perry. He has a deductive reasoning to his methods and while he seems to have a lot figured out, he also remains humble in his attitude. He is always urging people, in this book and his others and his website, to search the scriptures to see if what he is writing is true.
I used to be a "pre-trib" person but for years tried to figure out where the scriptures teach such a doctrine. (For the life of me, I still can't see how God's people, whom I don't doubt love the Lord, can believe this from scripture.) Then, I stumbled upon the pre-wrath theory which answered a lot of my questions and got me back to the Bible and not the "doctrines of men". Yet, I am on a journey for truth and have recently seen God revealing more to me as I search and I have come to understand there is just ONE resurrection (rapture) of God's people....not TWO as both pre-wrath and pre-trib teach. Also, the end so clearly will take place at the last trumpet and the opening of the 6th seal....ONE Day of the LORD! Once I let go of Revelation being completely chronological, my eyes were opened to this truth.
While I don't like labels because it can divide people, I urge people to re-consider the validity from scripture for the post-trib resurrection of the saints of God. Throw aside the labels but take another look! God's people will still not suffer God's direct wrath on the Day of the Lord, yet many will undergo persecution during the Great Tribulation. While this author doesn't push a bunch of doctrine or labels, he certainly comes down on a post trib view, yet does so by a thorough handling of the Word of God. His style is unique, "out of the box" in that he isn't easily persuaded by what the "experts" say, and filled with knowledge and humble wisdom. I urge you, as the time may be short, to take another look at scripture with this filter of understanding.
I believe this book will be an excellent resource for the non-believer searching out of curiousity for what the Bible says about "the end", the young Christian just learning AND the mature Christian/Messianic Jew looking for a fresh insight. The only thing I didn't like was that many of the Bible references were left out and it has made it tougher to use as a study guide....HOWEVER, it was done this way to follow the "idiot's approach" to learning so as not to complicate the writing style. In order to check out ALL the verses, I highly recommend his book on the Last Days Mystery (also on Amazon) which details the most important verses mentioned in the Idiot's Guide. Together, they are powerful.
Prejudice against the pre-trib rapture .......2007-06-19
The author is so bias against the pre-trib rapture, I wouldn't trust his view on any end-time subject.
