I found out about the nuclear link to cancer (radiation.org is one source) after I got non genetic breast cancer 11 months after my mother died of it. I realized our government was not telling the public about the nuclear dangers and the impact on our health. Then I read this book. This book begins with an FBI agent describing a criminal investigation that explored the involvement of the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI superiors. Learn about these nuclear crimes, the government's role and the people who stood up for the truth. Stunning information! Fabulous book!

This collection of essays, written by Center for Court Innovation research staff, analyzes the impact of a broad range of problem-solving initiatives launched in New York State and nationwide over the past decade. Among the findings: judicially monitored drug treatment succeeds in reducing recidivism among addicted offenders; more than 85 percent of offenders at an experimental community court thought their cases were handled fairlya significant improvement compared to conventional courts; by linking mentally ill offenders to community-based treatment instead of incarceration, courts can help improve offenders functioning and reduce the likelihood of re-arrest. The book also includes overviews of the national research literature on drug courts and community courts; an evaluation of a new approach to teen dating violence; and an investigation of how problem-solving principles might be integrated more broadly throughout state court systems.

5 out of 5 stars remembering the past.......2000-03-19

Red River Prosecutor recalls the true incidents of the wild and woolly 1960's and 70's in Love County, Oklahoma. The stories hold the reader spellbound with their intensity and their realness. I know because I was a teenager who grew up there and lived in the community during those crazy times. I can assure the readers that all the events are accurate. Most of the people described in the book I knew personally. Judge Bacon masterfully recalls the personalties with great detail and as I look back some 30 years the events are brought back vividly. This is better than any fiction fairytale of crime and its consequences. You will never regret your time spent with this account of taming rural Oklahoma.

Today a retired Settlement Conference Judge for the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Ken Bacon, the author is an author with a unique life story. His collection of personal memories is not some staid history of mid-20th century legal procedures. Red River Prosecutor is the two-fisted tale of one man's fight to wrench order out of the chaos in the toughest are of America's wildest state. What sets Red River Prosecutor apart is the author. The product of a broken home, he fought through an abandoned and parentless childhood, survived the bloody and violent oilfields of Kansas and Oklahoma and by sheer gut's, went on to become the Chief Judge for all Courts of Appeal in Oklahoma. Red River Prosecutor is all true, it's graphic and it is real life. The book review in the Oklahoma City newspapaer The Daily Oklahoman, April 7, 1996 said it best: "This is a TV miniseries, for sure. Even better if it could star the author.&quot

    Book Description

Karen Charboneau is a respected and, by most standards, successful ceramics artist who is Chippewa and lives on the Red Cliff Reservation in Northern Wisconsin.Born and raised there, she is at least as well regarded on the Rez for her superior woodsman skills and is known to one and all as Tracker. Most of the tracking she does, however, involves tourists who've wandered off the paths and gotten lost - people who want desperately to be found. But the normally quiet Red Cliff Rez is currently rocked by an ever-widening scandal - the widely disliked tribal attorney Judah Boiseneau has been found murdered in his office. Everyone is sure that the man responsible is his cousin, Benny Pelican. But Benny has disappeared into the reservation - and as someone who knows the land, he won't be easy to find. With the Tribal Chairman leaning on him to resolve the case quickly, the local B.I.A. agent and the Bayfield County Sheriff department breathing down his neck, reservation Police Chief David Lameraux has to turn to the only person he's sure can find the missing suspect - Tracker. Nothing is as simple as it appears, however, and it's going to take all of the combined skill, knowledge and luck of Lameraux and Tracker if they are to have any chance of resolving this perplexing murder.

3 out of 5 stars Taybodal, where are you?.......2003-12-25

The Taybodal mysteries were wonderful. The characters were rich and complex as were the mysteries. The stories were replete with cultural information about the Kiowa that was fascinating.
Murder on the Red Cliff Rez appears to be the beginning of a new series. I found the humor in this book to be juvenile and the attitude toward the white characters to be racist. It seemed that all white people were ignorant and uninformed while all Native Americans were smart and well-versed in all skills necessary to survive in life. I did find the mystery to be excellent and engrossing, but the humor and one dimensional white characters definitely detracted from my enjoyment of the book.
The use of the word, "suppose" instead of "supposed" was irritating and is something the editors should have caught.
I will continue reading future novels produced by Medawar, but I hope she is able to overcome the failings of this first installment in what could be a successful series.

    3 out of 5 stars a pretty good start?.......2003-02-12

In the beginning, the reader is confronted with a glaring error: We are told that C. Clarence Begay, Navajo BIAcrat, hates Wisconsin, "the northernmost state." Eh? Say what?!? Tell that to Stephen King (Maine) or Louise Erdrich (North Dakota) Steve Hamilton (Upper Penninsula, Michigan) or Dana Stabenow (on whose characters Kate Shugak & her dog, Mutt, Ms. Medawar's potter Tracker & her dog Mushy could be patterned) and Jack London (Alaska) or James Lee Burke's Billy Bob Holland (Montana) etc & etc.

After that rocky geographical start, the book settles in for a clever cruise through Public Law 280, tribal politics, ecological corruption , and Days in the Lives of Red Cliff Rez. As the author says: "Just another day in North Woods paradise."

This was my first reading of Ms. Medawar, and, if I hadn't read the prior reviews, this reader would warn you that, from the interaction of the main characters it is clear that there is a history there and that a reader would be best informed by starting at the beginning. But this *is* the beginning? Uff-Da!

4 out of 5 stars an absorbing glimpse into another way of life.......2002-09-21

The Chippewa Red Cliff Reservation in Northern Wisconsin, hasn't known a murder in over 50 years. Life changes when the Tribal Lawyer is found shot to death on the floor of the Tribal Courthouse. Judah Boiseneau was not a liked man, everyone knew he was an abusive husband whose wife, eventually, turned to his cousin for love & comfort. There is no sign of the widow & her children.

When another murder swiftly follows, & ceramic artist & tracker, Karen Charboneau, follows the clues, she & her sometime lover, the Tribal Chief of Police, realize that the murders are just the tip of the iceberg. That winter, unbeknowst to everyone, another form of decimation had occurred, & the repercussions are rippling through the Rez with startling & dangerous results.

MURDER ON THE RED CLIFF REZ is a well-crafted mystery, with an amusing & deftly-drawn cast of characters. Mardi Oakley Medawar has lovingly painted the North Woods landscape & brought it into our sitting rooms to enjoy.

    Very well done!

1 out of 5 stars I gave up. Don't read it while eating........2002-09-09

I gave up reading it. Very confusing writing (as mentioned by another reviewer.) What really made me quit were the regular yucky vulgar off-topic references that were supposed to be humorous. For example, I think we all know what happens when people walk dogs. If you do read it, don't read while eating.

5 out of 5 stars exciting Native American police procedural.......2002-06-08

Crime is a rarity on the Red Cliff Reservation in Northern Wisconsin, but murder never happens. Yet someone killed obnoxious tribal attorney Judah Boiseneau. Following the requirements of federal statute, reservation Police Chief David Lameraux reluctantly informs the local law enforcement officials that a homicide has occurred. This only adds to David's pressure to solve the case as the tribe council, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the nearby local police demand he capture the felon like yesterday.

Everyone believes the killer is Judah's cousin Benny Peliquin, who has vanished some where on the Rez. Desperate to find the missing suspect, David aversely turns to his former girlfriend Karen Charbonau for help because only someone with the skill of the Tracker (as she is known by all) would have a chance to find Benny. However, the cop wonders what they will discover when they catch up to Benny as David knows they will because Karen is the best.

MURDER ON THE RED CLIFF REZ is an exciting debut of a contemporary Native American police procedural series. The story line is fast-paced and loaded with action as David and Karen search for Benny, but find more than they bargained for during their trek. The who-done-it engages the audience from the start and never lets go until resolution. Though the lead couple is developed to the point that readers understand them as individuals, the former relationship between the protagonists remained murky. Readers will feel gratified with Mardi Oakley Medawar's tale that provides a strong mystery and an insightful look at life on a Wisconsin Rez.

    Product Description

History: Fiction or Science? is the most explosive tractate on history ever written - however, every theory it contains, no matter how unorthodox, is backed by solid scientific data. The book is well-illustrated, contains over 446 graphs and illustrations, copies of ancient manuscripts, and countless facts attesting to the falsity of the chronology used nowadays, which never cease to amaze the reader. Eminent mathematician proves that: Jesus Christ was born in 1153 and crucified in 1186 The Old Testament refers to mediaeval events. Apocalypse was written after 1486. Does this sound uncanny? This version of events is substantiated by hard facts and logic - validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources - to a greater extent than everything you may have read and heard about history before. The dominating historical discourse in its current state was essentially crafted in the XVI century from a rather contradictory jumble of sources such as innumerable copies of ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts whose originals had vanished in the Dark Ages and the allegedly irrefutable proof offered by late mediaeval astronomers, resting upon the power of ecclesial authorities. Nearly all of its components are blatantly untrue! For some of us, it shall possibly be quite disturbing to see the magnificent edifice of classical history to turn into an ominous simulacrum brooding over the snake pit of mediaeval politics. Twice so, in fact: the first seeing the legendary millenarian dust on the ancient marble turn into a mere layer of dirt - one that meticulous unprejudiced research can eventually remove. The second, and greater, attack of unease comes with the awareness of just how many areas of human knowledge still trust the three elephants of the consensual chronology to support them. Nothing can remedy that except for an individual chronological revolution happening in the minds of a large enough number of people.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

    5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

        Book Description

The Justice League has been called to the Ural Mountains in Russia where a decaying nuclear reactor threatens to melt down. The heroes are able to shut down the reactor, but in doing so they also cut off the power to a long-forgotten cryogenic lab hidden deep under the mountains. A group of genetically engineered meta-humans frozen in the lab are revived. Code-named Red Dawn, they are endowed with powers that rival and mirror those of the Justice League. The Justice League has finally met its match–unless the Flash can save them in time.

2 out of 5 stars Review of a Future Critic.......2005-06-09

I personally think that this book was horibble because it was about the Flash and Soviet Super Soldiers. I barely made it to the end. In it the Justice League must convince their counterparts that The U.S. and Russia are friends now. Come to think of it that means there wasn't much fighting in this book.
But for collectors, the only good set is a full set.

4 out of 5 stars Fun with an unexpected plot twist!.......2003-03-31

I have read all of the Justice League series books to my kids (1-6), and we have enjoyed them all. This one is particulary fun as it chronicles the Flash's experiences. The Flash is entertaining because of his witty comments and sense of humor. This book even has a little romance for the Scarlet Speedster and an unexpected twist in its plot. I like how this series is written because it does not dumb down the books. My kids' vocabulary actually increases everytime we sit down to enjoy one of these novels together.
