Book Description
Deepak Chopra has touched millions of readers by demystifying our deepest spiritual concerns while retaining their poetry and wonder. Now he turns to the most profound mystery: What happens after we die? Is this one question we were not meant to answer, a riddle whose solution the universe keeps to itself? Chopra tells us there is abundant evidence that “the world beyond” is not separated from this world by an impassable wall; in fact, a single reality embraces all worlds, all times and places. At the end of our lives we “cross over” into a new phase of the same soul journey we are on right this minute.
In Life After Death, Chopra draws on cutting-edge scientific discoveries and the great wisdom traditions to provide a map of the afterlife. It’s a fascinating journey into many levels of consciousness. But far more important is his urgent message: Who you meet in the afterlife and what you experience there reflect your present beliefs, expectations, and level of awareness. In the here and now you can shape what happens after you die.
By bringing the afterlife into the present moment, Life After Death opens up an immense new area of creativity. Ultimately there is no division between life and death—there is only one continuous creative project. Chopra invites us to become cocreators in this subtle realm, and as we come to understand the one reality, we shed our irrational fears and step into a numinous sense of wonder and personal power.

Why did I buy this?.......2007-09-16
I bought this after one of my friends died. Not sure why, mental lapse. What a waste - just theories that contradict themselves, you wont learn anything or really feel better after reading this either. Same stuff can be read by searching google for Life after Death and spending half an hour that way. I eventually just threw it out.
Understanding Death.......2007-08-26
Science has not been able to tell us much except we seem to cease to exist once we die. Why is it that man and woman alike crave something more after the flesh gives out? I find Deepak Chopra books intriguing and I want to believe there is something more. Our traditional Jew, Christian beliefs here in the USA makes it so hard to feel that way if we don't quite believe in the bible. We're taught we must believe in God as he is shown us in the bible or we lose life everlasting, but to thinking people this just seems bogus that have to accept just one way of viewing God or the Divine.
I loved the book, and I love the ideas and presentations of the Author. I will continue my quest for understanding the divine in a new way. Thanks to Mr. Chopra for continuing to challenge our western way of viewing the world.

another load of Chopra.......2007-08-13
I find reincarnation very interesting and hoped that this book included much on this subject. There was very little about it. The book was very disappointing overall. It was more about one's conscious mind than anything else. Nothing new, nothing good.
Excellent Science and Philosophy.......2007-07-28
I recommend skipping right to chapter 12 for some of the excellent far reaching science and philosophy today. I appreciate his presentation of ancient eastern philosophy and mix it with the ancient Greek philosophers. I not only read these chapters often, but I also make audio notes to review while driving in the car. He reaches into areas that are possibilities and he will tell you that, not like religion who says "it is the word of God!"
The first few chapters use parable-type techniques like scripture, designed to teach us, but I would rather he jump right to the hard core philosophy and science. I will summarize these chapters for myself eliminating the "story telling" and just list the solid core information these chapters intend to teach us.
Burden of Proof not met here.......2007-07-25
Yet another story about how dying is the next phase of life and is nothing to fear. This material is presented much better in "Home With God In A Life That Never Ends" and makes a much easier read. At the end of this book I was still waiting to see what was going to be "proved" and how that would happen.

Heaven by Randy Alcorn.......2007-10-10
I purchased this book because I wanted to learn more about Heaven. My husband died July 25, 2006. This book has given me so much to hope for. I know I will see my husband again. I know now that we will continue our relationship in Heaven and be able to enjoy all the wonderful things we enjoyed together only in Heaven they will be even better. Our reserected new earth will be such a joy to behold. I gave my first book "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn to friend of mine who was going through the same thing with her husband (both had brain cancer). I wanted her to find the same hope that I had in reading this book. I purchased a second book from Amazon and am so very glad I did. I would recommend this book very highly to anyone who is interested in learning the blessings that God has promised his children in Heaven.
A Great Gift.......2007-10-02
I bought this as a gift for my mother. She really likes the way the author described Heaven. She never looked at Heaven in this way before.
Heaven.......2007-09-18
I found Dr. Alcorn's book, Heaven, very enlightening. It answered questions for me. He addressed many of the questions that I have had since the death of my son. His answers were based on scripture and he was honest in his beliefs. We can only know from what God has said in his word and that is always left up to interpretation. I pray that Dr. Alcorn is right in his analysis. His book brought me comfort and peace.
I can't wait to get to Heaven.......2007-09-02
Randy Alcorn challelnges popular notions of heaven in thought provoking yet easy to understand style without sacrificing scholarly integrity. He cites numerous scripture passages as well as Biblical scholars to support his thesis and lays out a much richer and more interesting eternity than most of us have ever imagined. I highly recommend this book. It will provoke interesting discussions and force you to closely examine your notion of heaven.
Heaven by Randy Alcorn.......2007-09-01
There are many books written on the subject Heaven, this book is the very best on that subject. The author stays with scripture like he should and makes the reading simple enough to stay interested. When you read this book it makes heaven beyond your wildest dreams. Its a place you don't want to miss.

Interesting.......2007-04-12
Although this book gets bogged down sometimes in explaining an account of an ADC (After Death Contact) after you have just read the account, it is very interesting. If you are open to such experiences, this book will bring you comfort in confirming that life goes on in other forms.
Very good reading..............2007-04-07
This book will inform and inspire
you so I would recommend this book to
anyone who is searching for truth
and meaning in life. Very useful.
Boring.......2007-03-18
Page after page, after page of the same old same old. Story after story of after death encounters from different people.
The book could have been only one chapter and made a huge hit with me. It could have just said there were this amount of people that had ADC's and here are a just few of those encounters. Believe me a few would have been enough (I already believe).
On the back of the book it states: "comfort and emotional support for those who are bereaved", among other false statements. I believe this book was an annoying, let down and a waste of both time and money, to the bereaved and everybody else.
Don't waste your money buying this book. If you think you want to read it (you really don't), get it from the library. The book was a waste of money! It was so bad, I will not buy anything from these so called authors again.
Also, the star ratings are misleading as 1 star means you hate it 2 stars means you don't like it. Therefore, it's getting stars for being disliked and hated.
Book Description
Kerry Cook is an innocent man who wrongly served two decades in Texas's notorious death house for the brutal 1977 rape and murder of 21–year–old Linda Jo Edwards. His struggle for freedom is said to be one of the worst cases of police and prosecutorial misconduct in American history.
In the summer of 1977, Cook was staying in Tyler, TX. He met an attractive young woman named Linda Edwards and was invited back to her apartment for a drink and left his fingerprints on the sliding glass door. Four days later, Ms. Edwards was found brutally murdered. When the police dusted for prints, they found Cook's and immediately arrested him. Edward Jackson ly testified that Cook confessed to the murder during a jailhouse conversation. Jackson was set free, only to kill again several years later. Cook, on the other hand, was convicted and sentenced to death.
He was thrown into a world for which no one could be prepared, and he survived beatings, sexual abuse, and depression; all the while, he fought against a justice system that was determined to keep him quiet and loath to admit a mistake. Through the work of a crusading group of lawyers who forced a series of retrials, his case made its way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which ordered the case be reconsidered. It wasn't until the spring of 1999 that Cook was finally able to put the nightmare behind him: long–suppressed DNA evidence had linked James Mayfield, Linda Edwards's ex–lover, to the crime.
Customer Reviews:
You will not be able to sleep until you finish this book.......2007-06-04
I have read the book twice. This is a first hand account of one of the worst cases of injustice in American History. Kerry Max Cook has brilliantly written his own book about life before and after death row and the scars that he still carries with him from the experience. I highly recommend this book to all. I have already bought copies for all my friends.
Moving true-life account of perfidious injustice.......2007-05-30
There have been a spate of books lately about how poorly the American criminal justice system performs. This is surely among the best, though it is not without fault.
Kerry Max Cook was convicted in 1978 of a brutal rape and murder. He was sentenced to death. Over the course of 21 years with the help of a series of committed criminal defense attorneys and capital punishment opponents, he was able to obtain three re-trials. One resulted in a hung jury, another in guilty verdict and the fourth pending trial led to an agreement that saw him released from prison and death row, still as a convicted murderer.
After 20 years on death row, several appellate court decisions and DNA testing, it is abundantly clear that Kerry Max Cook didn't committ murder, rape or any other crime against Linda Jo Edwards in 1977. It is also clear that a long line of Smith County, Texas prosecutors, police officers and others committed crimes against Cook, the least of which is perjury. Nothing of course happened to those who perpetrated frauds upon the court, violated their canon of professional responsibility or flat out perjured themselves. The man the DNA evidence and early eyewitness account pointed to as the murderer has never been charged. In fact, the Smith County, Texas District Attorney's office still maintains, despite the proverbial mountain of evidence against it, that Cook is guilty.
Cook is literate, but not overly articulate. His tale of unbelievable hardship drags in places, but the message resonates clearly: there are proecutors and cops who lie simply to get a conviction. There are criminals who will conjure up stories with the help of prosecutors and cops to get a good deal for themselves while an innocent person is condemned.
I live in the Chicago area where dozens of convicted murderers have been set free because DNA evidence, unavailable or untested at the time of their trial, has established that they could not have been the perpetrator of the crime. The man who headed the State's Attorney office that secured many of these false convictions, Richard M. Daley, has been repeatedly elected Mayor of Chicago. The media never questions him about how all these innocent men were convicted. The same holds true in Smith County, Texas: the several District Attorneys who used perjured evidence or even perjured themselves go unpunished as does the suspect most likely to have committed the murder.
With the recent case of the three Duke University lacrosse players accused of a non-existent rape by Mike Nifong, dubbed a "rogue prosecutor" by the North Carolina Attorney General, we've seen once again how easy it is for prosecutors with the help of dishonest law enforcement officers to frame totally innocent victims. (The NC Attorney General called the three accused innocent.)These three young men were fortunate in that their families had enough resources to get them good legal help and that mostly conservative bloggers investigated and started poking holes in Nifong's stories. It was months before even parts of the mainstream media began to doubt Nifong and the accuser. Kerry Max Cook and the many other convicted innocents weren't as fortunate.
Kerry Max Cook has written a compelling account of his life. That he can have any hope at all is indeed inspiring. His story is a caution that the guardians, above all, must be guarded. The innocent are, as we learn almost monthly as more convicted murderers are found to be innocent through DNA testing, condemned to lengthy prison terms or even death based upon mistaken or knowingly false testimony.

Justice-Texas style.......2007-05-08
In March 2007, I attended a talk by Kerry Cook with a 80+year old nun who asked me to go with her. I did not have a clue the subject, I just went to drive for her. What an eye opening experience hearing Cook talk about his experiences in the small room crowded with college students, some of whom are part of various programs to help those imprisoned who are innocent. I later bought the book and I was angry the entire time I read it and ashamed I am a Texan, but relieved that Texas lawyers were the ones who finally helped Cook get free. Cook's story will change your life; if you are in favor of the death penalty, it will change your mind. If you are on the fence, you will get off it. You know in your heart and by current events that there are many more innocents wrongly on death row, put there by "evil" prosecutors, sheriffs, lawyers, etc., not to mention just sloppy police work. It's a crap shoot how you are treated. Kerry Cook is white, can you imagine how Blacks and Hispanics are treated in the criminal justice system?? I am still reeling and Kerry Max Cook has the rest of his life to have nightmares....
If you believe in Justice in our court system, read this...........2007-03-17
because you won't be a believer for long.
Kerry Max Cook tells us exactly how it is to be on death row in this country. He paints the picture of being wrongly convicted that chills one to the very core of their being.
If your pro death penalty... you won't be so sure of that belief after reading this.
One has to give this man KUDOS for enduring a 20+ year nightmare. As well as the attorney's that stuck by his side and believed in him and worked pro bono. It takes a hell of a belief system to get through what this man survived.
I recommend this book to everyone, pro or anti death penalty. It is very educational on our justice system, prosecutor misconduct, judges who are blind to "real justice" & Investigators who will stop at nothing to gain a conviction.
TRUST THE EVIDENCE, NEVER TRUST THE AUTHORITIES.
Justice?.......2007-03-15
Having just finished reading Chasing Justice I probably should be waiting a few days - or even months - to calm down a bit, but I'm finding that impossible. The anger I feel, not only for what the author somehow managed to endure for over 20 years, but how little has been done by the people of Texas to rid themselves of the continuing menace that infects their legal system makes me wonder what kind of a people we are, to continually put our heads in the sand, ignoring the continuing abuses perpetrated by the police, prosecutors, judges and politicians that are supposed to be serving us.
In one of Cook's final chapters he tells us what most of the main participants are doing today. Aside from a few that have died or retired, all police, prosecutors and judges are still doling out Texas-style justice. The person who all of the legitimate evidence points to as the real murderer is still free. Of course all of the residents of Death Row who were there with Cook have been executed. I realize that this thirst for blood is not just peculiar to Texas - much the rest of our nation isn't that much better - but one would think that if we're going to be handing out the ultimate punishment so frequently, even though it doesn't accomplish anything other than satisfying a savage hunger for revenge, it might be wise to make sure that we get it right and make sure that the innocent don't get flushed down with the guilty. One also has to wonder how the family of the murdered girl managed to go along with the charade all of this time, knowing full well that the wrong man was being persecuted.
It's also interesting that who should make an appearance in this Kafka-like saga other than George W. Bush himself. As Texas Governor between 1995 and 2000 one of the first things he did was to sign off on legislation to make it easier to execute those on Death Row by limiting the appeal process available to them, resulting in him signing off on over 150 executions in 5 years. How many of those men were innocent? Is this where he developed his officials-can-do-no-wrong attitude that he has ruled with since he came into power in 2001? In the case of Texas vs. Kerry Max Cook errors and incompetence led to lies and cover-ups which led to more lies as witnesses were coached into changing stories, forensic evidence misinterpreted and pages from witness accounts "lost." All this so officials in charge of the case wouldn't have to admit that they erred in the first place -something that they've refused to admit to this day. In the case of the Bush Administration vs. the U.S. - or perhaps it should be the World - errors and incompetence made after 9/11, accompanied by a huge dose of arrogance resulted in lies and cover-ups which have led us to where we are today. If those parallels aren't enough and we need more all we have to do is throw in a huge portion of a public that is willing to accept practically anything that is told to them because we must "trust our leaders."
Kerry Max Cook is an example of what a human being is capable of. He's managed to take those 20 years that were stolen from him and make them meaningful to all of us. He shouldn't be ignored.
Book Description
In Life After Life Raymond Moody investigates more than one hundred case studies of people who experienced "clinical death" and were subsequently revived. First published in 1975, this classic exploration of life after death started a revolution in popular attitudes about the afterlife and established Dr. Moody as the world's leading authority in the field of near-death experiences. Life after Life forever changed the way we understand both death -- and life -- selling millions of copies to a world hungry for a greater understanding of this mysterious phenomenon.
The extraordinary stories presented here provide evidence that there is life after physical death, as Moody recounts the testimonies of those who have been to the "other side" and back -- all bearing striking similarities of an overwelming positive nature. These moving and inspiring accounts give us a glimpse of the peace and unconditional love that await us all.

Life After Life.......2007-09-15
Great Book! Lots of good information on an interesting subject. This book not only answers inportant questions about life, but it made me formulate new questions? This book really helped me see the world in a new light. It's quite thought provoking.
Reviewing "Life After Life".......2007-08-29
This book brought home the fact that there really is something after this life. It was recommended to me by my mother's former employer after her death. The book is based on scientific research without emphasis on religion. I have given copies to many friends who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
A "Metanoia" experience.......2007-08-27
Jesus' first words ("keynote") in the first of the written Gospels of the Christian scriptures is the Greek word "Metanoiesete" which means literally "Change the way you think about reality". This is what comes to mind as I read the reports of Dr. Moody's patients. They speak of an experience outside of time and beyond three dimensions.
For us to conceive of something requires that there be a prior three dimensional experience, in time, for us to develop a concept. That is what makes these reports "inconceivable", yet "believable", just like what is prior to the "Big Bang" wherein the Cosmos "emerged" from a "point of no dimensions". This also is inconceivable and consequently not a "fact" in the usual sense of scientific data.
After Jesus said, "Metanoiesete", he went on to say that the "good news" is that the Kingdom of Heaven is "within" you, not conceivable but believable.
Moody's small book is mind altering.
Hallucination-the word of the day.......2007-08-25
As someone who had an NDE I wish Moody would have interviewed me. I was racing on my motorcycle and flew over the handlebars and landed on my head to which I was unaware of my surroundings and a fellow rider picked me up and got me to stagger home. I do not remember anything for the estimated 20 minutes after the crash except waking up. To think you had an experience otherwise is a hallucination or the mind being deprived of a sufficient level of oxygen.
A classic study of NDE (near death experience).......2007-08-16
To the best of my memory, there are only three books I have read three times in my life: The Bible, Death Be Not Proud and this book, the 1975 classic by Raymond A. Moody, M.D., that invigorated the modern investigation into NDE's (near-death experiences). I first read it in junior high when I ordered it as a Scholastic selection and I read it the third time after my father's death in 2004. It is the starting point in the scientific investigation into the question of consciousness (or spirit or soul) surviving the body's ultimate demise.

comfort and hope.......2007-09-21
I read this book immediately after my grandmother died about five years ago. At the time I felt afraid of death and needed some meaning around it. This book helped me know that no one is alone when they die and that in fact we are surrounded by love. This is one of the most important books I have ever read. I am no longer afraid of death and, while I wouldn't rush it, a little part of me looks forward to seeing eveyone when the moment comes. There is peace and beauty in this very natural event.
Highly recommended.......2007-06-11
Once started reading this book, I couldn't put it down and read it through within a couple of hours. As a counsellor I found this book an excellent addition to my therapy sessions and not only is it a fantastic tool for the counsellor or practitioner, but also very valuable for the person on the street, as it is written in the most beautiful, but also understandable language. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross provides through her books - comfort, empathy and the very necessary message of a loving spirit.
Most moving little book.......2007-05-26
Don't let the title fool you, those 80-something pages hold much more than just an essay about "life after death". To be honest, I only bought it because I have enjoyed Dr. Ross's other books, which are written with a lot of sense and straight to the point facts about her patients and observations, so I wanted to give this one a shot.
It was delivered to my doorstep 3 hours ago, and I'm already done reading the whole thing. She took a huge risk with this one, and genuinely put her heart into it by sharing very personal thoughts and experiences. I found it very inspiring, and some people might even find a few life lessons in it. It's a brilliant little book for both believers and non-believers. One of my favorites so far.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross is world renowned for all her books. Provides so much information on this subject.
Beyond death there is life.......2007-01-19
This is by far one of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross's most hearfelt books. It is a small book but big on content.
Elisabeth continues to give us hope beyond life on earth. In the early 1990's she decided to change direction in her teachings and concentrate on the message that there is indeed life after death.
Through her patients and her own spiritual experiences, Elisabeth has given us reasons not to fear death. To accept the next transition as a very powerful event like our birth, this will be a new birth, from "cocoon" to "butterfly".

As in the case of James Redfield's The Celestine Prophecy, once in a while a book comes along that unexpectedly soars to the bestseller lists simply because it feeds a specific spiritual hunger. Talking to Heaven is one such book. Based on the personal insights and memories of highly acclaimed medium James Van Praagh, Talking to Heaven offers comforting and startling stories about his contact with the deceased. Van Praagh could have used this text to prove that his gifts as a medium are authentic--the story about the deceased teenager who led his parents to his murderer is impressive (the result was a murder conviction)--but instead, Van Praagh offers spiritual and psychological comfort to those grappling with the loss of a loved one. He also helps readers develop their own means of talking to heaven. Even those who aren't aching for contact with the deceased will find Van Praagh's down-to-earth discussions of karma, the afterlife, and spiritual guides fascinating.
Book Description
"[James Van Praagh] has changed people's lives, banished the fear of death, and brought grieving parents the solace of their dead children's presence...IT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO BE MOVED." (Newsweek)
This is the groundbreaking book which introduced renowned medium James Van Praagh to the world. This is the book that changed people's lives, that gave them hope, that answered their most profound questions about life after death. This is the phenomenon that continues to grow...
"A wonderful and uplifting book...I highly recommend it. If you have ever feared death or grieved the loss of a loved one, James Van Praagh's spiritual stories and lessons will heal your heart. He is without a doubt one of the most gifted mediums on the planet at this time." (Brian L. Weiss, M.D., author Many Lives, Many Masters)
Customer Reviews:
Very well written, interesting and educational.......2007-08-27
This book has completely reshaped the way I think about things in this life. James Van Praagh is an excellent writer and this book is a quick read that just makes sense in so many ways. It answered many questions I had and probably will change my life. I highly recommend it.
Excellent book.......2007-08-20
I have had paranormal and spiritual experiences all my life growing up. This book validated so much for me, almost everything in the book described what I always felt I knew from a child. It also gave me new insight on other things as well. This is a must read, it will change how some view life and death. I would advise anyone who is in grief to get this book.
Necessary Reminders.......2007-07-31
Exposed to miracles throughout my life, I do not have to question the content in this book. I do, however, have to be reminded from time to time just how miraculous life can be. People should always approach all things with an open mind, and the consider the Enormous Possibility. The reading of this book spawned a movement in my little corner of the world. Loved ones read it, and we formed a Spirituality Group, in order to allow further learning and growth. Van Praagh not only reminds us of the possibilities, he also writes vividly, and takes his readers into a world some already believe exists, and others might one day.
question everything.......2006-12-22
I would refer anyone who would take this author seriously to James Randi's comments on his behavior. He represents the modern version of the crystal ball reader and his claims should be eyed with an appropriate degree of skepticism. This would be a benign phenomenon but that his success depends on the suspension of reasoned thought on the part of those who grieve for their lost loved ones.

James Van Praagh's insights and his life experiences are uplifting and inspiring. His ability to lead others to solve a murder mystery should have given some proof to those who do not accept his gifts.
There is much more to this book then just lots of storires about contacting spirits on the "other side"; he talks about suicide for example, and gives us a view on that subject that may help greiving families.

With practical and compassionate advice, personal stories, and helpful exercises, Life after Loss is not just about understanding grief-it's about doing something about it. TIMELINE FOR LIFE.......2007-05-13
This book was given to me after my husband died. I could not believe what it was telling me as I made my way through my troubled time. The book provided a timeline for me, a way to look ahead or back to see if I was "on track" to my new "normal" life. It provided a pathway for me to follow. The book kept reassuring me along my path. I have given the book to many people, just to let them know that they are alright in what they are doing. I keep buying a copy for myself but the book keeps leaving me to "help" another person. I am so glad that my friend found this book for me. I highly recommend this book. It is an excellent book to help someone who is dealing with grief. It also lets you know that "you are not alone."
A Classic!.......2007-03-30
Finally! A book that understands that Grieving is a process and no two people grieve the same way. Having encouraging words and sharing anecdotal stories really makes this book one that should be given to everyone who grieves. I have done many of the suggestions and it helps. It really helps. God bless Paster Deits for writing this!
Practical advice for any type of loss.......2007-01-16
Grieving is a natural process. And even though I have studied psychology, I learned many things about the benefits of allowing oneself to go through the process. In other words, don't stuff the feelings and the tears. *** This same process would apply to any loss, whether it be someones life, body part, opportunity, personal security, etc.
The Single Best Book Yet on Life After Loss.......2005-09-22
This book has become a classic in the area of life after losses of all kinds. It is a MUST-READ - in part, because our culture is ignorant yet pushy about how to live through major losses. While this book provides lots of guidelines for how to get through difficult times, it also appropriately repeats the truth that losses are different for each person - and even for each loss. It gives necessary permission for people to allow their unique feelings to come up and be expressed, rather than hiding them or being afraid of them. It promotes the truth that the only way to get through losses in life is to go "THROUGH THEM", not to "get over them." "Getting over" losses is merely a way to avoid feelings and force them to come out through the body (illness)or some other mode that is more accepted in our culture than emotions. Although these feelings may at first seem unbearably painful, the reader will find surprising relief by allowing them to be felt and then expressed either through direct emotions, or through some of the exercises provided in the book. This book recognizes that many people and even professionals may be unaware of these truths. It recommends that you either educate those people or else find a way to do what you need to do to get THROUGH your process without their input. I am a psychologist and have used this book regularly in my practice for years. But more importantly, I am a person who has experienced many losses that this book helped me find my way THROUGH.
Wonderful book.......2005-08-24
This book helped me a great deal when I lost my baby daughter. This is a general grief book that is good for any kind of grief, not just death. It helps to understand what you are going through and this book does a great job of explaining the stages and processes of grief. I have recommended this book to many people.
Book Description
John Edward, Suzane Northrup, and George Anderson are just a few of the prominent American mediums who have been accused of being frauds. But what if a respected scientist challenged them to make contact with the beyond under controlled laboratory conditions? What if the results not only stunned a skeptical scientist but also offered astonishing answers to a timeless question: Is there life after death?
THE AFTERLIFE EXPERIMENTS
Risking his academic reputation, Dr. Gary E. Schwartz asked well-known mediums to become part of a series of experiments to prove, or disprove, the existence of an afterlife. This riveting narrative, with electrifying transcripts, documents stringently monitored experiments in which mediums attempted to contact dead friends and relatives of "sitters" who were masked from view and never spoke, depriving the mediums of any cues.
Here are the results that awed sitters and researchers alike: a revelation about a son's suicide, what a deceased father wanted to say about his last days in a coma, the transformation of a man's lifelong doubts about the afterlife, and, most amazing of all, a forecast of a beloved spouse's death. Forced by data to abandon skepticism, Schwartz presents this amazing account of his groundbreaking work, compelling from first page to last.

"An esteemed scientist's personal journey from skepticism to wonder and awe provides astonishing answers to a timeless question: Is there life after death? Are love and life eternal? This exciting account presents provocative evidence that could upset everything that science has ever taught. Daring to risk his worldwide academic reputation, Dr. Gary E. Schwartz, along with his research partner Dr. Linda Russek, asked some of the most prominent mediums in America -- including John Edward, Suzane Northrup, and George Anderson -- to become part of a series of extraordinary experiments to prove, or disprove, the existence of an afterlife. THE AFTERLIFE EXPERIMENTS. This riveting narrative, with its electrifying transcripts, puts the reader on the scene of a breakthrough scientific achievement: contact with the beyond under controlled laboratory conditions. In stringently monitored experiments, leading mediums attempted to contact dead friends and relatives of ""sitters"" who were masked from view and never spoke, depriving the mediums of any cues. The messages that came through stunned sitters and researchers alike. Here, as they unfolded in the laboratory setting, are uncanny revelations about a son's suicide, what a deceased father wanted to say about his last days in a coma, the transformation of a man's lifelong doubts about the afterlife, and, most amazing of all, a forecast of a beloved spouse's death. Dr. Schwartz was forced by the overwhelmingly positive data to abandon his skepticism, reaching some startling conclusions. Compelling from the first page to the last, The Afterlife Experiments is the amazing documentation of groundbreaking experiments you will never forget."

Real After-Life Confirmation with Book!.......2007-10-07
I was reading through this book at Barnes & Noble and jokingly thought, "Loved ones on the other side, let me know you like this book!" Sure enough, right then and there, someone tickled me on the back of my neck. I immediately turned around and nobody was there. Thanks, Other Side. This book got endorsed by the spirits around me, so it's the real deal! The book is very well written and I plan to buy one next week.
boring...too much personal info.......2007-08-29
I don't really care about the background info on this man and his life, where he has worked...yadda yadda...it takes about 20 pages until it gets interesting and really into SUBJECT MATTER...unfortunately I've already lost interest...
Gary Schwartz - A personal experience made this book even more powerful.......2007-08-21
Wonderful book- I too was a skeptic until I was almost 40 and started going
into trance-like states where I would see scenes, people, images of various
time periods. During this trance state, I could barely move, could not speak, except for some strange words, I knew not to be English. As the speech portions progressed, I tried to research what type of language I was speaking and began recording and writing everything. I soon saw a pattern in the words and realized I was speaking another language and amazingly, not of this Earth. There is a star system called Roag, comprised of 22 planets, all united and all speaking this one language. What I WAS seeing were scenes from past lives lived on those planets.Scenes now became much more vivid and extremely specific, with names, dates, places, etc. As my trance states became more intense, telepathic communication now entered into the scenes as a few different people were explaining to me what I was seeing & hearing. I am not a kook, nut or ex-mental patient. I was in Nursing school and my children were almost grown when this began to happen. Now, I can also see a bubble of light around people, looking like threads,
living energy threads of awareness and filled with a person's life-their families, their past, things they like (and don't like to do)and so much more. I cannot possibly go into everything in this limited space-and I do hope to put everything together in a series of books in the future. But I do know that life most definitely goes on and is eternal. We are like balls of light, filled with "strands" of awareness, which never cease to exist. We
not only continue to exist but continue to return. I no longer believe, I know.
Gary Schwartz... UNETHICAL!.......2007-04-24
Dr. Schwartz, I didn't have a choice of rating your book with NO stars, so I gave it one. You should be ashamed of yourself for exploiting Allison DuBois and her work with you. How dare you promise confidentiality and then betray the very person one of your books is based on?
Another Possibility.......2007-04-03
After reading this book I can see how people come to the conclusion the mediums are indeed in contact with the spirit world. I believe some of them are. My personal spiritual impression, and I've sensed this with the TV productions produced with many mediums, is that they really are in touch with these spirits. However, what has come to me is that many of these "peeping spirits" giving information to the mediums are spirits of a malevolent nature, in other words evil spirits. They know more about us than we think and can appear as righteous spirits giving special information that "only the departed loved one would know". They really can impart information about a wedding day, a flower in the hair, or a special event because they (the evil spirits) were there as well.
This doesn't always mean all mediums are deceivers, but they can be duped. And why would these evil spirits want to deceive us? My personal experience has been not to underestimate the ends the adversary of all that is good will go to keep us from focusing on what is really important and developing our faith in God.
Once again, I am not criticizing those who believe these things. It's hard not to believe such things. Just be very careful and understand there is a great deal of ourselves to be lost when we give our faith over to what may turn out to be a very cruel, cosmic hoax.
The Holy Bible: King James Version
When Times Are Tough: 5 Scriptures That Will Help You Get Through Almost Anything
Book Description
This, the long-awaited third volume of the Cosmic Trigger series, includes Wilson's witty and humorous observations about the widely spread (and, happily, premature) announcement of his demise. And, of course, what Wilson masterpiece would be complete without synchronicities, religious fanatics, UFOs, crop circles, paranoia, pompous scientists, secret societies, high tech, black magic, quantum physics, hoaxes (real and fake), Orson Welles, James Joyce, Carl Sagan, Madonna and The Vagina of Nuit.
Customer Reviews:
A nice ending to the trilogy of wickedly entertaining brain food.......2007-09-26
If you enjoyed the first two Cosmic Trigger books, pick this one up. I would recommend reading the first two books initially but you don't have to in order to get a lot out of this one. RAW makes me laugh and think and laugh again. I like to keep a notepad nearby to jot down people, subjects etc. he mentions, for more research later on. His writings have opened up many doors for many people.
I found this third book to be easier to follow and more focused on it's thesis than the previous volumes. For me, reading all three in sequence seemed to work very well. Enjoy!
Wilsonian Romp.......2003-01-15
There really is not much for me to say on this one. It's just a fun ride. The kind you come to expect with Wilson. It is book you can read without having read the Cosmic Trigger books, but it helps.
What a conclusion.......2002-04-23
How many books can begin with their author dieing? Well, it seems that nothing is impossible to Robert Anton Wilson. Finding out about his death on the internet, Wilson takes us along another journey of self discovery and an examination of belief systems.
The story takes us to Ireland and unveils a host of new story lines to help you question the way you look at the world and help you to expand your mind. While this book comes close to the second book in the series, it falls just short of being equally as excellent. Wilson again attacks his topic through the intertwining of several story lines and does not disappoint. For anyone new to Wilson, you may wish to start with the second book in the series. If you have read the first two books, this one is definitely an excellent ending to the series.
OK, HERE'S THE DEAL...........2002-03-14
I feel that Wilson might be a genius. He seems to me to be smart enough to realize that his opinion isn't necessarily the best one. He's careful to state that his opinions are just that, OPINIONS. This colors everything he does. {People looking for answers should run screaming the other way.)
This is a set of essays, strung together in a manner that will make you think. His style as an essayist is engaging. In fact, I enjoy his essays more than his novels. Even when I disagree with Wilson (which might very well happen if you read with an open mind), I still find something to think about and consider.
I think that his books are designed to be mind-openers, not mind closers...I actually met a RAW-Dogmatic guy once, and after I finished laughing, tried to show him that (in my opinion) he missed the message.
This seems to me to be a fantastic book. I hope you enjoy it, too.
Brilliant "mid-wing" essays........2001-03-16
I think it's impossible for Robert Anton Wilson to write a non-interesting book. (Unfortunately he's gone into virtual retirement since the death of this wife.) While "Trigger III" has very little to do with the first book, (actually none of them have any connection other than title ) it's just a spellbinding read. To me, only RAW can write about what would be considered incidental and trival to most people and just make one gasp at the taken-for-granted mysteries and subtleties of existence. Such as, why IS the Mona Lisa cannonized as a masterpiece while works of equal of vast superioriority not? Here(as in all his books)he absolutely blasts away both materialistic dogma (Carl sagan, CISCOP, politicans)and religious dogma ( all of 'em ).
Wilson is a philosopher who can see the beauty AND the B.S. of life. He intelligently explains having mystical expericences as a STARTING point to exploration, not a new dogma to shove down people's throats. In my opinion, no other writer is better in explaining and exposeing how the world is with more honesty, knowledge and HUMOR. ( This applies to litterally ALL his books, not just CT III)
To my knowledge this is the last book Wilson has released. I sure hope he writes another before he "moves on". His works have literally transfromed me into, I think, a far wiser person. Hopefully for you as well.
