First in a winning series of three.......2007-05-14
Mr. Jenkins has taken a topic that is current and turned it into a "What if" series making you think about the current state of affairs between Religion and politics. The characters are interesting, and the topic hits home.
Great cliff hanger.......2006-07-26
Silenced continued where Soon left off. It immediately pulled me back into the story. The ending was done in great cliff hanging style and I was pleased that I had already purchased the next and last book in this series. Aside from the fictional plot, the storyline gives way to self examination and evaluation.
Enjoyable Reading!.......2006-03-06
I loved this book! The suspense was great and the willingness to portray God as a prayer answering God is just worthy to be praised. He really does hear and answer prayer and this book is one of those rare reminders that sometimes we ask for BIG stuff and because He's able to, He ANSWERS us!
That same amazing style.......2006-01-28
For me, Tim LaHaye provided the research, but Jerry Jenkins really put heart into the left behind series. Any doubt that I had was erased with Soon and, especially Silenced. His same amazing literary voice is loud and clear in this book, and I had a really tough time choosing between The Regime and Shadowed, but I'm buying the Regime in the next 2 weeks anyway.
Soon and Silenced.......2005-09-27
This is a new series by Jerry Jenkins. If you like the Left Behind series you will enjoy this equally as well.
Book Description
Have you ever wondered why the rapture as it is described on television, in books, in movies, and even from the pulpit, does not seem to match what you read in the Bible? Or why the teaching that Christians will be whisked to heaven without facing any of the persecution and testing of the "Tribulation" period does not seem to match the character of God as revealed in the scriptures?
There is a reason. It doesn't.
The timing of the rapture clearly, repeatedly, and consistently taught in scripture is that Jesus will return to rapture the Church after the rise of the Antichrist, after the start of the "Tribulation" period, but before the Day of the Lord and God's wrath, not pretribulationally as many teach. The implications for believers, both in their lifestyles and their individual relationships with God, are critical.
This revised and expanded edition, written for believers at all levels of education and spiritual growth, takes a look at the prewrath timing and the volume of scriptures that support this important doctrine for the rapidly approaching End Times. Although written to be understandable for all Christians, this book contains in-depth arguments and rebuttals to key pretribulation arguments suitable for use by pastors, prophecy teachers, and professors.
What's new in this edition?
o Expanded and clarified arguments.
o Foreword by Gary Vaterlaus, national instructor for Sola Scriptura (formerly The Sign Ministries), asking, "Is pretribulationism a text of orthodoxy?".
o Expanded review of the development of modern eschatology, putting pretribulationism in its historical context.
o Nearly one dozen new charts, including those that provide greater clarification on the structure of Revelation.
o Revised analysis of "the last trumpet."
o New appendix: Oswald T. Allis Do Parousia, Apocalypse, Epiphany Require Different Comings?
o New appendix by Gary Vaterlaus that answers the question, "What did the church fathers believe about the coming Antichrist and the Tribulation?", letting the church fathers answer this question in their own words through substantive excerpts from the writings of key figures such as Justin Martyr, Tertullian, and Ireneaus.

Excellent exposition and discussion of the Endtimes and the Rapture!.......2005-11-08
I would highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn more about the endtimes, prophecy, and the rapture.
There are several things that help make this an outstanding book:
1. There book includes several charts and tables that make it much easier to compare Scripture passages from different parts of the Bible.
2. The book discusses many issues that I had questions on but that other books on the endtimes just didn't cover (easy to read but indepth treatment of the issues, theology, and Biblical texts!)
3.The author is fair and accurate when discussing other views of the endtimes with which she disagrees in her book. Some books written by Christians seem "unchristian" in how they treat others or develop "strawman" arguments. This book is fair in its treament of others!
4.It is easy to tell that the author spent ALOT of time researching and writing this book.
There are several other good books that deal with the endtimes (such as Marvin Rosenthal's book "The prewrath rapture of the church"), but this is the most up to date, thorough, and comprehensive on the rapture available.
A Well-Researched and Well-Presented Study.......2005-10-15
Before God's Wrath by H.L. Nigro is one of the better books I've come across regarding the timing of the Rapture of the Church. Well-researched and documented, this study is not an emotional defense of a predisposed position; it is a thought-provoking overview supported solely and completely by Scripture. Wherever you fall in your theological stance regarding the Last Days, you would be hard pressed to debunk the author's strong position.
Well-researched and well-written.......2005-09-07
This book is one of the most helpful Bible study books on my shelf. I've read Rosenthal's and Van Kampen's also. I found each book to be unique and helpful. Although all three (and several other pre-wrath rapture books) are on the same topic, Nigro's book stands on its own for research and information. It is well thought out and helped me tremendously in my journey from pre-tribulation rapture to pre-wrath. Ultimately, it must always be God's word that grounds us, but He has certainly used Nigro to lead us to His word.
A controversial topic.......2005-09-07
I am new to the idea that the church will not be raptured out prior to the tribulation. I had my suspicions that we would, indeed, have to endure the Great Tribulation but not come under God's wrath (Read Matt 24). I began to do some online research and came across and purchased several books on the topic. Before God's Wrath is one of them. H.L Nigro contributes greatly to the topic, clearing up many areas of confusion. I can recommend this book highly to anyone who has questions about when the *Bible* says the Chruch will be raptured.
Thoughtful, Provocative, and Charitable.......2005-09-07
H.L. Nigro is one of a handful of scholars who have independently discovered that the Bible teaches a PreWrath, PreMillennial Rapture. My favorite section of this book is the Q&A at the very front. There the author addresses the questions that someone coming from a PreTrib viewpoint is likely to have when first encountering the PreWrath view.
Throughout the course of the text, H.L. examines the Word of God faithfully and thoroughly to determine the true intent of the Author. For any who want to go deeper into the differences between PreTrib and PreWrath, the author provides an appendix that examines "Maranatha! Our Lord Come!" by Renald Showers and also an appendix that takes issue with "The Rapture Question Answered" by John Walvoord. The PreTrib stance is given a fair hearing by this charitable author, who is clearly walking close to the Lord.
Whether you have studied End Times prophecy a little or a lot, you will be blessed by considering H.L. Nigro's well-reasoned arguments in favor of the PreWrath view. You will, at the least, see an example of how to debate a controversial issue without becoming obnoxious. At the most, you will discover the truth.
Book Description
This book examines the relationship between the theologies of atonement and penal strategies. Christian theology was potent in Western society until the nineteenth century, and the so-called "satisfaction theory" of the atonement interacted and reacted with penal practice. Gorringe argues that atonement theology created a structure of affect that favored retributive policies. He reviews theory and practice in the twentieth century, and makes concrete proposals for both theology and criminal and societal violence.

In the early hours of September 5, 1972, members of the ultraviolent Palestinian terrorist faction Black September scaled the perimeter fence surrounding the Olympic Village in Munich. Their target was the temporary home of the Israeli Olympic team. Within 24 hours, 11 Israelis, five terrorists, and a German policeman were dead.
Based largely on exhaustive investigation for the Oscar-winning documentary, One Day in September is the definitive account of the tragedy. Simon Reeve has gathered extraordinary information from a number of sources, including recently released Stasi files and interviews with key figures, including the families of the hostages, politicians, policemen, advisors, fellow athletes, media figures, and even the lone surviving member of the group that carried out the attack. Reeve's control over his material is admirable. He vividly paints images of the individuals involved, humanizing a narrative that cracks and buzzes with the compact tension of those 24 hours. At the same time, he provides the background to the attack, filling in vital historical context from the distant and recent past, such as the Arab-Jewish dispute that produced this and other terrorist actions and their responses.
Reeve conveys the public horror of Jews being incarcerated on German soil, which led the German authorities to make crucial judgments, with tragic results. Fatal errors were made that can only be fully understood through the underlying dynamics of not only Middle East history, but also postwar European politics, individual and institutional arrogance, inexperience, and political pressure--including from the International Olympic Committee. Reeve follows up the events of that day by exposing the full extent of the Israeli revenge mission, which over the next 20 years hunted down and killed those responsible for the attack. He has not only written a compelling book, but provided a considerable service in allowing readers to understand the forces of hatred and history that conspired toward inevitable, but no less tragic human consequences.
Those who were a part of the huge live media audience that watched helplessly as events unfolded will undoubtedly experience again the sense of dread at recalling those traumatized, shackled figures led out from the Olympic Village to their fate on a German airfield. Those who make the mistake of thinking the dark days of international terrorism are history will read One Day in September and remember that the same underlying tensions still cast shadows over our present and our future. --Fiona Buckland, Amazon.co.uk

Customer Reviews:
Olympia is a Sacred Place.......2007-03-21
First let me say that this is a well written book that kept me engaged throughout. Although the author indulged in a bit too much moralizing for my taste, he still manages to deliver a highly detailed and informative account of the Munich massacre and it's aftermath. He does a good job at weaving the lives and personalities of the victims-as well as the perpetrators-with a blow by blow narrative of both the massacre and the Israeli retaliation.
Many of the Israelis had serious reservations about coming back to the country where so many of their people-including immediate family members for some-were killed. Despite this, they came to Munich enthusiastic to compete and represent their country. Ironically, their fears turned out to be legitimate, only not for the reason they suspected. The fact that Jews were being killed in Germany yet again was not the only tragic irony of the Munich Olympics massacre. There was also the fact that the German officials had purposely scaled back security at the events precisely because of the nation's history. They were desperately trying to redeem their nation's reputation and they were afraid that excessive security would evoke painful memories of the Third Reich. This decision had devastating consequences. Reeve pulls no punches in his criticism of the Germans. By most accounts-and Reeve is sure to emphasize the point-the rescue attempt that resulted in the death of all of the athletes was completely botched by the Germans. They come off as looking completely incompetent and Reeve does not shy away from pointing this out.
Reeve then goes on to Israel's retaliation which was code-named, the "Wrath of God" operation. This is where the Israelis hunted down and assasinated dozens of people who were thought to be involved in the Munich attack. Anyone who has seen Stephen Spielberg's film 'Munich' will recognize the names and locations of these asassinations. As I stated previously, Reeve tends to over-moralize the issue by constantly sticking his two cents in about the massacre itself, Israel's response, and terorism in general. It's not that I necessarily disagree with him, but I just don't feel the need to be preached to about right and wrong. Other than that, it is well worth the read.
The death of the 1972 Munich Olympics........2006-08-15
This is an exceptional read on the killing of Israeli athletes in the 1972 Munich Olympics. These were defenseless individuals, not even properly guarded by the German authorities. The Palestinian Fatah movement commissioned Black September to take as many of the team hostage so they could force the release of over two hundred other hardened killers. The Israeli authorities would not do this. Therefore the Germans came up with a ridiculously simple plan to free the nine Israeli athletes and kill the hostage takers. They made so many simple mistakes, that even some policemen refused to take part in it. When the Palestinians and hostages arrived at the airport, an hour long shoot out resulted with five Palestinians killed and all nine athletes killed. This really destroyed the innocence of the Olympic Games and showed really what the Palestian Fatah were really all about.
The book also covers the revenge killings by Israel. The author disagrees that these have a beneficial effect on the outcome of the battle. I disagree. These revenge killings show that the hunter can become the hunted. It puts the fear into those that cause devastation throughout the world. Other than that, I think this is a fine read.
View From the Left.......2006-01-08
What a surprise, another hand wringing liberal condemnation of Israel's defense and foreign policy. Reeve's account is a detailed look at the events in Munich, and a somewhat less detailed look at subsequent events. To call it non-fiction is a stretch, as there are many holes to plug, and Reeve chooses to plug them with an ill-disquised comfort for chatting with terrorists, and sharing his clearly Eurocentric liberal view of the mideast.
He takes one short swipe at the notion that he is equating the Israeli response with the initial murders of the Jewish athletes, but spends the entire rest of his effort doing just that. His ultimate editorial view seems to be that -- even after the murders of two athletes in cold blood in the Olympic village -- if the Germans hadn't so profoundly botched their "rescue" attempt, everyone else would be alive today. I came away with the distinct impression that he has more contempt for the German effort and the Olympic Committees than with the terrorists themselves.
All in all, worth the read, but we could have done without learning Reeve's political viewpoints, and his Miss America dreams for "world peace."
"Debunk "Munich" with this book.......2005-12-31
AS you probably know, the elitists in hollywood would like you to sympathize with terrorists so we can understand them and coddle them with empathy. The new Spielberg film "Munich" further distorts the truth about the Mossad's "Wrath of God" operation and clearly distorts the real truth about what happened. Read this book so you can know the truth about what happened that day in 1972. Arm yourself with the truth so you know what muslim violence is all about. Spielberg is now a modern dhimwit. dhim·wit (dmwt) - A non-Muslim member of a free society that abets the stated cause of Islamic domination with remarkable gullibility or guile. A dhimwit is always quick to extend a sympathy to the enemy that they are unwilling to allow their own defenders.
Compelling.......2005-12-05
"One Day In September" is the definitive book account of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, it chronicles one of the most famous terrorist attacks in history and exposes the errors that caused the standoff to end so trafically and opens a window into the Middle East conflict, showing factors and events that are very relevant today in the post-September 11 world. Simon Reeve's book is extremely well-detailed and compelling, describing with clarity what happened and it also takes the time to tell the human stories behind the tragedy, we meet the wives and children of both the Israeli victims and the Palestinian terrorists and learn about how this event has affected them, disturbed their sleep and shattered their sense of security. Reeve also does an excellent job going into the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, investigating ancient history to trace the roots of an ancient land and its troubles. We live in a dangerous world and "One Day In September" should be read by anyone who wants to be informed on the roots of modern Middle Eastern terrorism and just what kind of foes we are facing in these tense times. It is a book about what terrorism IS, how it is a very real threat and how it is spearheaded by men who live for a cause and don't care about dying or killing innocent civilians to gain recognition. The story of the Munich attack is fascinating, but even more interesting is the Israeli revenge operation known as Operation Wrath Of God which involved a team of Israeli assassins sent around the world to hunt down all those involved in the Munich massacre and basically destroy them. One might find it disturbing that a democratic state would condone assassination squads, but look at what Israel was facing and you realize Golda Meir and her commanders were trying to defend their people, when you are persecuted around the world and wanted dead by who knows how many hostile governments just because you exist, what can you do? Reeve writes in detail about the operations, how the targets were killed and goes into the obsession to kill Hassan Salameh, Yasser Arafat's right hand man also known as "The Red Prince." "One Day In September" is also an eloquent call for peace, families and officials call for a halt in the violence because they have felt and seen it, it is a book that calls for peace and resolution, but also realizes that in a world where men choose to kill the innocent for downright religious causes, sometimes violence is inevitable, even in self defense.

An Action Novel That Asks Spiritual Questions.......2006-01-27
Last year, I wrote that I had just been introduced to the writings of Jack Higgins, and had enjoyed reading his work, "Without Mercy." I have just gone back to the Higgins buffet line for a second helping, this time reading "The Wrath of God." Higgins writes in the action genre with a sparse style that reminds me a bit of Hemingway. It has the feel of a spaghetti Western that would be filmed with a soundtrack by Ennio Morricone.
In "The Wrath of God," Higgins creates bleak and arid landscapes - externally, located in a parched Mexican backwater - and internally, located in the desiccated souls of his characters. The characters come to life as memorably flawed human beings. The protagonist - but hardly a hero - is Emmett Keogh, an embittered former IRA assassin who can no longer remember how many people he has called or why he killed them. Circumstances throw him in conflict and in partnership with Van Horne and Janos. Van Horne is a defrocked priest turned back robber, and Janos is an ex-patriot Hungarian doing business rapaciously in post-Civil War Mexico of the 1920's.
Though an action novel through and through, with a film of film noir to it, "The Wrath of God," consistently poses spiritual questions: "Can the reprobate find forgiveness?" Is it incongruous for an avowed atheist to hunger for a spiritual connection?" "Can a deadened and benumbed soul be brought back to life?"
Higgins has a long list of novels to his credit. I expect to continue sampling them for the foreseeable future.
Exciting adventure story from Jack Higgins.......2005-11-20
The Wrath of God is an enjoyable story from Jack Higgins that is well worth a read. In 1920s Mexico, three men are brought together under different circumstances and blackmailed into completing a mission for a Mexican army officer. The three men are Keogh, a former IRA assasin, Van Horne, a priest who also robs banks, and Janos, an overweight businessman who stops at nothing to better himself. The mission they receive is to capture a man, dead or alive, Tomas de la Plata, who has gone renegade and is reigning terror on a small part of northern Mexico. I really enjoyed this book. All the characters are fairly well-developed and you get to know them and their motivations by the end. Not Higgins' best book, but his fans will definitely enjoy this western action.
If you like the book, try and find a copy of the movie that was based on Higgins' novel. It stars Robert Mitchum, Frank Langella, Victor Buono, Ken Hutchison, and Rita Hayworth in her last movie. The movie differs from the book in certain parts, but just like the novel, it is highly enjoyable, and full of great characters and plenty of action. Check out The Wrath of God!
Well Written and Interesting.... and what an ending !.......2004-04-05
This was the second book of Jack Higgins I have ever had the pleasure to read. I spent the evening reading it and finished it in three hours.
The plot was well paced and the characters interesting, a fine book and a good read.
The action scenes were especially compelling.
This book will surprise you.......2003-07-07
Think of this book as a love story draped in bandoliers. The gunfights and outlaws are only there to dress up the plot. At its heart, this book is the story of a violent man redeemed by the love of a good woman. It is about how in a dark time, two people help each other reclaim their humanity.
Not So Good.......2002-08-19
This is not one of Jack Higgins best. The Story was too long and plot was terrible. The ending was very confusing. Read Khufa Run instead.

The Psalms of Divine Wrath.......2001-08-02
Zenger approaches some of the most difficult psalms to understand: the psalms of vengeance. Like most Christans, and perhaps many Jews, I had mumbled over these psalms uncomfortably, and quickly forgot them. But this book helped me tremendously to appreciate and value these psalms, and some of them have become rather important to me. Zenger discusses the psalms as laments against violence and injustice, and he discusses how we can use these psalms in our own prayer.
A professor of Old Testament Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary wrote that this book was the "most extensive and best work that I know of on one of the most troubling dimensions of scripture... With both careful and rich exegesis of the psalms... Zenger recovers these as important liturgical and theological resources..."
If these Psalms, and the classic image of the wrathful Old Testament God, have disturbed you, and you want to integrate them productively into your spirituality, this is an excellent book for you.

Available in paperback for the first time, Jenny Strauss Clay's landmark study of the "Odyssey" argues that Athena's wrath is central to both the structure and the theme of the epic poem. Clay demonstrates that an appreciation of the thematic role of Athena's anger elucidates the poem's complex narrative organization and its conception of the hierarchical relations between gods and men. This edition includes a new introduction by the author.

Indispensible.......2004-02-15
Ms. Clay's book and Seth Benardete's Bow & Lyre, along with Eva Brann's Homeric Moments, are clearly the best studies of Homer if, like Montaigne, you choose books which teach you how to die and how to live well. Each of these books reveal just how beautifully philosophical Homer is and how indebted Plato--and philosophy--is to these epics.

A Non-denominational Christian Pastor Rates "Sent to Earth".......2005-09-19
I give "Sent to Earth" a five-star review, as it tells the situation upon the planet earth as it really is, in that Almighty God is judging the earth for its sin condition and sending chastisements upon the earth to get man to stop sinning and repent.
I thought Michael's research was fantastic, with reference to the prior chastisements sent upon the earth by Almighty God. I learned much from this book.
I also have a prophetic ministery, and therefore enjoyed the book immensely. The book was extremely factual, and does apply to all peoples upon the earth. I would recommend that everyone read this book!!
Since I am not a Catholic, I enjoyed Michael's explanation of the Blessed Mother and her intervention throughout history with reference to warning people about coming chastisements and the sin condition of their lives.
I have purchased several copies of "Sent to Earth" and given it to many other prophetic ministries, as well as my own ministers around the United States. It is the most factual, truthful prophetic work which I have come across in the past eight years. My hat is off to Michael Brown!!

Are you ready for the truth?.......2007-06-03
Today you see hundreds of new books about the coming apocalypse. These books are incredibly popular because we all know in our heart the end is near. Now are you ready for the shocking truth? Rev. Blair's book is not recommended to the one who has hardened his heart to God. I do recommend Final Warning to any God fearing Christian that is ready for the truth about God's plan for our future. After reading Rev. Blair's book Final Warning, you will realize this truth and recognize how oblivious we are to the evil influence that has infiltrated our culture, blinded us to the truth, and hardened our hearts toward God.
