Book Description
The Blue Day Book is a wonderful collection of amusing, poignant animal photos and inspirational text designed to lift the spirits of anyone who's got the blues. No one who has lips will be able to read it without smiling; it's guaranteed. The fact is, we all have our bad days-they are an intrinsic part of being human. As prescribed by The Blue Day Book in its delightful photo and text messages, the solution is to see each incident in perspective, recognize that our feelings of failure and loss are not unique, acknowledge the absurdities of our existence, and glory in the potential we all have. In less than 100 sentences, The Blue Day Book conveys this message with great compassion and humor. Its vehicle is charming black-and-white photographs of animals that are strangely human and completely free of judgment or pretension. The humble marriage of easy text and beautiful images takes the reader through the entire evolution of a blue day, examines what it feels like, what causes it, and how to get over it.

NOTE there are two versions of this book out.......2007-07-04
One has a picture that is a little racy. And the Hallmark version has that picture substituted. The pictures are funny and worth a laugh, but this is definitely for adults. There is a children's version that is equally funny. The Blue Day Book for Kids: A Lesson in Cheering Yourself Up
All in one.......2007-03-23
Bradley captures every emotion and feeling and soothes the reader. The photos help us along as well. After purchasing this book and "A Teaspoon of Courage" I read them and sent copies to my sister.
Blue Day Book.......2007-01-21
The Blue Day Book as the title and cover art implies gives some tips on how one can get over the blues when having a really bad day. All of the photographs are black and white and show animals in poses that either evoke an emotion or show the animal having his own bad day.
Remember All the Good Things.......2006-11-07
When my father passed, a friend sent this book to me. It helped to relieve some of the pain from the greatest loss I had ever experienced. It does not matter what page you open; it will offer solice in your time of sorrow.I find it a wonderful gift the give friends who are grieving for a departed loved one. I am getting ready to send it to a special friend.
Uplifting book that keeps on giving...............2006-08-28
My daughter gave this great book to me recently. Subsequently, after receiving such enjoyment while reading it, I ordered several to give to others. Also, when I brought it book to work to share with others............they also ordered several!
Great book to keep at your side to make you smile.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Enchanted by the wildly successful Blue Day Book's poignant, often funny, photos of animals and clever, poetic insights, many parents and teachers from all over the world wrote the author asking, "When will you do a version of this book for children?"
That day has finally arrived. The Blue Day Book for Kids features the same style of delightful black-and-white animal photos found in its New York Times best-selling predecessor. But this special edition for children is accompanied by compassionate words of wisdom written especially for children 12 and under. As BTG says, "Hey, even little people have big blue days."
The deceptively simple, imaginative story line reflects a child's sensibility about the symptoms, causes, and cures for those times when children feel tired, grumpy, left out, or think that nothing ever goes as they planned. Even on days when brussels sprouts are served at dinner . . . a cherished toy must be shared . . . a homework avalanche looms . . . or a silly mistake is made in front of friends or family, The Blue Day Book for Kids provides children with a literary umbrella to laugh off the unexpected rain life can bring.

Blue day to better day.......2007-10-02
I teach parenting classes and encourage parents to read and enjoy this book with their children. The pictures are great and some of them made my son laugh & laugh! This book is a reminder that we all have bad days (and that's o.k.).
A Family Favorite!.......2005-10-03
My children (ages 7 and 4) stumbled across this book at our favorite bookstore recently, and I can't say enough about the smiles and cheer it has brought them. I now plan to buy this book as a gift for every child I know (and even a few adults). Adorable black and white photos have managed to capture our animal friends in the most peculiar poses, opening wonderful dialog opportunities in our family. Even if you aren't "blue" this book will elevate the mood of anyone, any age. It's destined to be a favorite for many families.
(For the record, this is my first Amazon review. I usually don't post reviews, although I do write them professionally. When I noticed this book had no shopper reviews yet, I couldn't help but share my opinion with viewers. If you're wondering whether or not this book is a keeper, I can't think of anyone who wouldn't love it! Enjoy!)

Customer Reviews:
A new story.......2007-08-28
I wasn't sure my son would like this book because it doesn't feature a clue game. However, it is interactive, so he follows along and seems to enjoy it. Blue holds a scavenger hunt for her friends, and the reader plays along to help find the things on her list. I don't recall that this is based on an episode, so I think the story is new.
rainy days are everywhere.......2007-02-12
I bought this book because we were living in the caribbean where if we were stuck indoors, it was because of the rain, or hurricane season. I thought "ok, let's make this look like fun". In fact, it rains everywhere. The story is about a group of Blue's friends who have to stay indoors because of the weather (it could even be a snowstorm if you're in Alaska or Canada!)and find something to do as a fun activity.
It's an entertaining book as you hunt for clues page by page until you piece together all the clues to find your answer. I like Blue's---good idea for children.
Gift for granddaughter........2006-08-19
My graddaughter loves Blues Clues so I thought she would enjoy this book and she did, she has to have this book read to her everynight before she goes to bed.
Blue's Best Rainy Day.......2006-08-17
My niece likes Blue's Best Rainy Day the best out of all the books she has.
What To Do On A Rainy Day?.......2005-08-19
Blue has invited Magenta, Purple Kangaroo, Green Puppy, Yellow Kitten and Orange Kitten over for a play date. The only problems is that it's raining outside!
Blue then decides to set up a scavenger hunt *inside* the house and, with the help of Steve and her friends, they go about the house finding the items on the list.
There are socks, a box, buttons, fabric, glue, and yarn all over Blue's house. What does Blue want to do with all these items once they're found?
You and your youngster will find out when you read Blue's Best Rainy Day. Filled with colorful pictures, children have the ability to test their discrimination skills as they find the specific items on Blue's scavenger hunt list.
Not only that, children are shown that optimism and ingenuity can turn a potentially disappointing situation into an opportunity to use their imagination and have lots of fun...fun they may not have had if things turned out how they expected.
My son requests this book quite often and I'm sure other young readers will enjoy this delightful book as well.

Book Description
Every kid’s a winner!
Ziggy dreads track-and-field day. He isn’t good at running races or at high or long jumping. He isn’t good at throwing balls, either. Ziggy is good at drawing pictures, but there’s no picturedrawing event on track-and-field day. At least he can decorate the envelope that will hold his disappointing gray ribbons. To Ziggy’s surprise, his drawing becomes a huge hit! The kids all want their envelopes decorated by Ziggy – and offer him their blue ribbons in exchange.
Bright, animated pictures add spunk to a story about the joy of doing what one does best.
Book Description
This two-sided prompt journal combines the captivating photographs and comforting advice from The Blue Day Book with space for readers to record their own feelings and observations and conquer those blue days that everyone experiences. There is plenty of space for personal reflection on its beautifully designed pages, and it also provides prompted list pages in its directory section so readers can record and remember the things that help them dispel the blues and make them feel happy.
Customer Reviews:
who can resist a frown-y frog?.......2002-02-18
When I saw this journal I couldn't resist it. Even it's cover (the frown-y frog) makes me smile! It's a great journal with re-affirming quotes and funny animal pictures on every page. It encourages me to write out my feelings when I'm sad, mad...even glad! I love it so much that I can't even reserve it for blue days-it has become an everyday journal for me.
The directory in the back allows you to make lists of your favorite things, activities, places, foods, etc. so when you're feeling crummy you know how to pamper yourself. Just filling out the directory has made me think about what I really enjoy and consider adding more of these favorites to my every day life.
Great for beginning journal-keepers.......2002-01-17
I bought this journal for my mom, and now I wish that I had gotten one for myself, as well. There are guided questions and lists on one side. Then, you can flip it over and use it as a regular journal. The pictures and quotes are neat and make you smile.

Lively and inspirational, Katie Couric's sophomore picture book, reunites Ellie McSnelly and Carriet O'Toole, friends from her successful first book, The Brand New Kid. Once again, Couric's tale deals with the aches and pains of growing up, and in The Blue Ribbon Day, she encourages kids to deal positively with disappointment. Carrie doesn't make the soccer team with Ellie, but with some reassuring words from mom, "We're all good at something, you'll have your time to shine," she makes a new start, and ends up placing first in the school science fair.
Told in fun, jazzy rhymes that help mitigate Carrie's disappointment and foretell a happy ending, Couric's snappy, upbeat text is perfectly matched by Caldecott winner Marjorie Priceman's vibrant illustrations. Charming, engaging, and brimming with positivity, parents and kids alike will enjoy this reassuring tale. Daphne Durham

Ramblings of an Egomaniac (Mien Kampf for kids).......2004-12-16
I wouldn't waste any amount of money buying this book for a child unless I wanted them to grow up to become a Paris Hilton wannabe, who's probably an idol to the author of ths book. The author is one of the biggest egomaniacs on television today. I'm sure she'll be wasting the airtime of the 'Today' show to promote the pile of garbage to the viewing public as much as she likes to tout her 'Exclusive' interviews she manages to obtain. Why the network insists on keeping her as an anchor is beyond me. Her journalism skills are a joke. She needs to get a job with 'Entertainment Tonight' or 'Extra' because she's all about 'shock value' journalism. Just listening to her speak is like listening to a pack of hyenas or wolverines mate.
The courage to try something new.......2004-12-05
With a granddaughter in primary school, I am always on the lookout for books that will encourage a love of reading and spark her curiosity about the wonderful adventures that await in the world of books. To this end, I have found that rhyming stories add more fun to early reading.
Couric uses this technique to tell of the latest adventures of Ellie McSnelly and Carrie O'Toole, as the two friends try out for soccer together. Unfortunately, only one of the girls excels in the sport and is chosen for the team. Not to worry; Couric has plans for Carrie and an important life lesson as well. With a little help from her friend Lazlo and her mother, Carrie learns to appreciate her own special talents, in this case a successful effort at an academic school competition.
There is much to be learned in this lighthearted romp through the joys of girlhood; mostly, that each child is blessed with her own special gifts. The girls share in each other's endeavors and realize that different talents make life more interesting for both.
The illustrations are bright and full of energy, the perfect complement to the optimistic rhymes that propel the story. Little girls are constantly beset with choices while making a place in the society of young girls. This enthusiastic approach to problem solving is a delightful read, with subtle lessons of acceptance for differences. Ellie McSnelly and Carrie O'Toole are perfect role models who take on the world hand in hand. Luan Gaines/2004.
How do you help a disappointed child? .......2004-10-21
How do you help a disappointed child? How would you restore his self-confidence?
Katie Couric deals with this topic in a very entertaining, straightforward way with her "Blue Ribbon Day" that is enhanced with the illustrations provided by Marjorie Priceman.
"The Blue Ribbon Day" could have been a moralistic lesson in life were it not for Katie Couric's wit and "cool" verse as well as her understanding of pre-teen lingo.
This is the second children's book by Newswoman NBC-TV's Katie Couric. Her writing reflects her bubbly, warm, no-nonsense TV personae.
Best friends Ellie and Carrie try out for the school soccer team. The two girls are very disappointed when Carrie is not selected along with Ellie. With Carrie's mom, and her friend Lazlo's help, Carrie overcomes her disappointment, discovers what she excels at, enabling her to win The Blue Ribbon!
Boosting Carrie's self-esteem and perception is the loving help of her mom and friends! What better example to set for an insecure child!
Marjorie Priceman has succeeded in matching Katie Couric's words to perfection.
Her illustrations are fresh and tender, somewhat "cartoonish." Her use of primary colors on a white background conveys the importance of the characters. They make you smile at some of the innocent pranks that children pull in a group setting (Science Fair pages!).
The book jacket is also very attractive with its bright yellows and reds.
"The Blue Ribbon Day" is for every reader, young or old, who has to cope with disappointment or rejection. You never know what you're good at until you try!

Excellent spirit lifter!.......2004-10-20
Very nicely done and the lesson it teaches is an excellent spirit lifter. Fail at one thing, win at another. This is something all our children should learn as competition becomes increasingly tough. Even if you fail at something, remember "You couldn't feel good if you never felt bad".
A very good lesson -- even for adults.

I love Blue!.......2007-09-30
Cute book, but rather small. I was surprised at the size. Kids books seem to be so expensive for so small books.
Guess Who Loves Blue-my little one does!.......2004-12-11
I bought this for my 16 month old son who adores Blue and he loves for me to read this to him over and over! Any baby who enjoys peek-a-boo will really like this book!
Book Description
"Murphy-Stop-That is my name. I am a terrier. I bark. I bark at anything and everything and all the time."
As he goes through his day -- barking, eating, outsmarting the dumb animals on the farm, putting up with a visit to the vet -- Murphy never loses his doggy enthusiasm, even when he has to sleep out in the barn.
In her charming new tale, acclaimed author and illustrator Alice Provensen shows that every dog -- even a bad dog -- has his day.
Customer Reviews:
Son loves this book.......2007-02-05
My son, age 4 1/2, loves this book. Needless to say, our family has much of this book memorized. It is the story of a terrier named Murphy and his barking, searching for mice, and a trip to the vet.
Laughter and giggles from toddler to Kindergartener.......2006-02-04
I read this out loud with my three children, 2 1/2 to 6. They all laugh until they are gasping and even my husband, listening in from the next room, gets a chuckle. Picking it off the shelf and scanning it will bring a grin and reading it by yourself is good, but this is a book that screams to be read out loud.
not great.......2005-09-06
I didn't like this book because there wasn't a real plot and no real sentences - perhaps for 3-4 year olds but older than that I would say no.
Cute and entertaining!.......2004-05-21
This is a wonderfully "cute" story about the mischievous Murphy-STOP. At least that is what he claims his name is! Murphy is an adorable little terrier, full of joie de vive, who lives a very complete day and manages to get into trouble without even trying.
The illustrations are colorful and cute and a beginning reader will really enjoy reading about the antics of Murphy-STOP! Great starter book! Murphy's expressions are priceless!
"Murphy, Stop That".......2003-08-26
I bought this "children's" book for an "adult" friend of mine. Why? you ask--because his name is Murphy, and he looooves dogs. And I'm sure he will enjoy it as much as I did and as much as any child would. The story is fun, the pictures delightful, and Murphy (the dog) is just plain cute!
