Customer Reviews:
Very good.......2007-06-18
This book gives many practice examples. It is perfect for a person new to ECG rhythm recognition.
After completing this book, I recommend Huzar's Basic Dysrhythmias: Interpretation and Management - Text and Pocket Reference Package (Revised Reprint). It reviews the basics, but goes much faster (with fewer practice strips) -- but more importantly it goes into much more depth. It also delves into 12-lead interpretation much more than other similarly titled books.
Basic Arrhythmias.......2007-04-12
The information the book puts across is good. There are a couple of issues with the rythms which have to be reviewed. It is certainly a book worth having.
Exellent book for beginners to intermediates.......2007-04-07
I've been an ER nurse x 15 years, and I've bought several EKG books, and this is far the best. It begins with the simple basics, and gives lots of practice. I would highly recommend for anyone teaching ACLS. The software I would give only 4 stars, but it is still one of the better softwares I've seen. Make sure you have a set of calipers to use with this book.
Maybe it's just me.......2005-05-02
I really didn't like this book, and I'm not sure if it is just the topic that I struggled with or if it was the text. I had a tough time reading the book...I didn't like the blank lines to fill in the answers, it seemed distracting to me trying to learn the information and having to stop and fill in the blank as I go along.
As far as the information, it was really very compelete and there were A LOT of practice strips in the text. That part I did find useful. It does take a lot of practice in class, in the field and in clinical settings to learn the cardiolody and ekg intrepretaion. If you can get passed the fill in the blanks part, or if that doesn't bother you than it seems to be a very good book. It just didn't seem to suit my learning style.
Simple, simple, and simple!.......2001-08-30
I have to say that this is the best college text book I have ever used. Clear, concise explanations of semi-complicated topics. I could not ask any more out of a book, except maybe lowering the price.
Book Description
This clinically oriented text provides you with a comprehensive reference of cervical spine function, dysfunction, clinical syndromes, evaluation and management.
You get guidelines on how to approach specific clinical syndromes related to the cervical spine from the standpoint of signs and syndromes, differential diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, referral and home care.
Customer Reviews:
A must for any clinician treating the Cervical Spine!.......2001-03-06
Dr. Murphy has produced the state of the art text in the conservative management of the Cervical spine. Covered are the basic sciences, most common clincal syndromes, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and management. Taking a multi-disciplinary approach, this book serves Chiropractic physicians, Physiatrists, physical therapists, Osteopathic physicians, and all clinicians with a need and interest in understading conservative Cervical spine care.
Among therapeutic approaches covered are manipulation, soft-tissue techniques, the Mckenzie protocol, sensorimotor rehabilitation, cervical stabilization, exercises, psychological management, and surgical.
Clinical conditions include Cervical trauma, motor vehicle collisions, headaches, Cervical radicular and pseudoradicular syndromes, joint dysfunction, myofascial syndromes, vertigo, disequilibrium, orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders, and neuropsychological dysfunction.
Of all the fine information contained in this work, my favorite portions consist of the quite frequent "Clinical Pearls" interspersed thoughout each chapter. These are Dr. Murphy's own personal commentaries, practical clinical tips, and observations. They add immeasurably to the usefulness of the information in daily practice.
book review critique.......2000-08-23
This book is a must have text for physicians of all disciplines who treat traumatic injuries of the cervcal spine.
Traumatic inuries (i.e. fracture, dislocation, etc.) and soft tissue injuries are addressed as well as diagnoses and mechanisms of injury.
Medical legal issues are addressed and relevant information is presented eloquently for the physician.

Book Description
This volume provides the definitive guide to Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), the psychotherapeutic approach developed by Francine Shapiro. EMDR is one of the most widely investigated treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder, and many other applications are also being explored. To keep up with this growing body of knowledge, the second edition has been revised to incorporate current neurobiological data, findings from controlled clinical studies, and literature on emerging clinical applications. Chapters provide background on EMDR's development, theoretical constructs, and possible underlying mechanisms, and present updated protocols and procedures for working with adults and children with a range of presenting problems. Among the many clinical populations for whom the material in this volume has been seen as applicable are survivors of sexual abuse, crime, and combat, as well as sufferers of phobias and other experientially based disorders. Detailed descriptions and transcripts guide the clinician through every stage of therapeutic treatment, from client selection to the administration of EMDR and its integration within a comprehensive treatment plan
Customer Reviews:
The Standard Still Works.......2007-05-17
This restatement of Francine Shapiro's standard overview of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)outlines the standard protocols for this proven treatment method. The methods, theory, and failsafe procedures are carefully explained for clinician practitioners. Careful liability reduction checks are examined and encouraged throughout the manual. This book alone is not a substitute for training in EMDR, yet will assist the new and veteran EMDR practitioner in remaining competernt in the skills and therory. I keep it handy for frequent review.
Indispensible Text for EMDR.......2007-01-06
This book is a companion to the live course, the foundation for EMDR. A must have text if you are a therapist using this modality.
Promising intervention but reservations from an EMDR client.......2004-08-21
EMDR may be an excellent form of overcoming trauma, and the research tends to suggest it does, although if you read the literature in a disinterested way, you will find there are many mixed reports on study results. Some find EMDR equal to or better than Cog/Beh Therapy intervention; some find it better; some find it not as effective. As someone who has conducted experimental research AND has undergone EMDR for trauma, I wish to point out several issues that should be addressed, even for true believers. First, EMDR is a perfect intervention for a technological age: after all, don't all our life's problems supposedly have a technological solution. Our culture says so, but of course, history tells us otherwise. Spiritual meaning, social integration, a personal credo, culture and religion still appear to be the ingredients that hold us together..or as Paul Tillich says, "Our ground of being." Technology may be helpful but it is ultimately ancillary. Of course, those who suffer from trauma may require immediate relief, and if EMDR can reduce suffering efficiently and quickly, that's fine. I had about 10 EMDR sessions and they helped me immensely. HOWEVER, that being said, one must look a bit further. First, one must consider the individual client him/herself. EMDR helps us return to a traumatic event, see it more objectively, and hopefully allows us to use our reasoning faculties which may not have been in play during such events owing to stress, shock, immaturity, ignorance, and so forth. However, I believe we all have varied levels of experiencing or "reliving" memory. Some can visualize quite easily and can "see" the experience as vividly, even more vividly than the true life one. In keeping with Gardner's idea of "multiple intelligences," we should consider that different individuals have different "intelligences" in reconstructing or reliving events. Furthermore, we should consider that individuals have varying degrees in their ability to make associations. While a trauma may be a single event or several similar events, in all likelihood they have developed as narrative themes that compose the self-concept the client has. The better a client can connect the trauma to such themes, the more holistic the effect. A good EMDR clinician can encourage this reconstruction, but one should be aware that we have different cognitive styles.
Second, some of us have more entry into traumatic events than others. This may be attributable to personality traits such as openness to self-disclosure, and environmental influences of trust, and/or varying levels of general repression of uncomfortable (let alone traumatic) thoughts and events. So, one size may not fit all.
Another important variable that should be examined by practitioners/researchers is the background of the therapist. For example, since much of EMDR is used to uncover traumatic childhood events, I believe it is important that the therapist have a background in treating children--at least to some minimal level. For, as the client recalls events from childhood, he/she is recalling them as a child and may be in a child-like state during the process. Therefore, the therapist must be able to talk to the client as a child (not the inner child because EMDR, if it works for childood trauma, brings the inner child "outward." Finally, the therapist must sense when the client is "ready" for the treatment. The trauma may be known, but the ability for the client to address the trauma in a safe and secure environment may take time to establish and nurture. I do not see the metaphor of the mind as a computer. If we begin to think that way, our society is in very big trouble. Much of our culture already does. In conclusion, this method should not be viewed as a mere technique, but like any intervention for change, as a technique largely dependent on the individual therapist/client. I happen to have a very rich sensory life. I can recall things to the degree that after the recollection, I may be confused whether it was truly a recollection or whether I was transported by a time machine; I have a good grasp of reality, but this personal ability of mine certainly had a hand in the success of what I went through.
And finally, about the eye movement part, the jury is still out. There have been few studies comparing EMDR with and without the eye movements. Studies regarding whether they are necessary to the process have not been highly encouraging. I could go on, but I think I'd rather save what I have for a more extensive article for which I can be paid--just as the EMDR industry is paid for its services.
Recommend!.......2004-04-12
Easy to read and helpful for understanding the process of EMDR. I would have to agree with the previous reviewer Laura M that PEACEFUL HEART : A Woman's Journey to Healing is a must-read. Aimee Jo Martin's story clearly illustrates and details her journey with successful EMDR treatments. Quite powerful if you want to really see how effective EMDR can be.

Great book! If you practice EMDR, you need to invest in this book.

Her program encourages both positive health practices and a positive outlook; the important tools needed for prevention and healing. Dr. Schatz has designed this program to help those with pain from chronic musculoskeletal back and neck strain, spinal arthritis, osteoporosis, premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy, and scoliosis. Simple and practical ways to heal the back, restructure the body, and cope with stress are taught so that one becomes more sensitive to early warning signs of an impending "back attack" and what to do to ward it off.

Great Resource for Teachers and Students Alike.......2007-09-17
I notice that a few reviewers have mentioned they found exercises in the book too easy and it's true that the book is geared toward those who may be recovering from injury and/or are new to yoga. That said, as a yoga instructor and long-time practitioner I've found this book to be a wonderful resource. In fact, some of the poses in the book have become staples in my lesson plans (and in my own practice) because they serve - for beginners and advanced students alike - as excellent warm-up poses to begin opening the body or cool-down poses to release the lower back. In addition, some of the poses shown using a chair or wall as a prop are useful both for beginners unable to do the full pose and (of equal importance!)for intermediate students who have experience with the full pose, but have never learned, or are still working on mastering correct points of alignment, which are integral to gaining the full benefits of the pose. Finally, I've found one set of exercises - aimed at identifying and correcting pelvic torsion (a slight - and common - misalignment in which the left hip point is drawn a bit too forward while the right is pulled back (or vice versa) - that I've found nowhere else and which has elicited a lot of positive feedback from student in classes where I've used it.
A few words to intermediate students: (1) If you're suffering back pain, it's quite likely that the Iyengar-based exercises in this book, rather than other, more "advanced" or novel asanas (poses) will prove to be better tools for dealing with it. (2) If you have a regular, committed yoga practice and it either is not mitigating or is making your back-associate pain worse you may need to take a closer look at your alignment in the poses, particularly if you began doing yoga in a vinyasa, or flow style and have never received, or have only minimal instruction on how to align yourself in different poses.(It may also be a good idea to seek the advice of a doctor.)
Although yoga studios tend to frown on mirrors in classes (for good reason), occasionally practicing in front of a mirror(s) at home - particularly with a book like this one that includes "simple" poses and poses performed seated in a chair, which can be done safely while watching yourself - can be quite helpful in identifying habitual patterns of movement of which you're unaware - many of which stem from a belief that we can go deeper into a pose than our current range of motion and/or strength allows, causing us to sacrifice key points of alignment - ultimately reinforcing the very patterns of movement that are sources of pain and discomfort. You may be (unpleasantly) surprised to find that the pictures of some of these very basic poses - ones you "already know" and have "moved beyond" - look nothing like the reflection in the mirror when you actually see yourself in the poses.
Three other superior yoga books that I suggest (and I own upwards of 30) are (1) for beginners and people with limited range of motion [i.e., lacking flexibility], "The Runner's Yoga Book" by Jean Couch (2) for intermediate students "30 Essential Yoga Poses" by Judith Lasater and (3) for advanced students, teachers and anyone who wants a thorough physiological and anatomical understanding of the mechanics of yoga, "Anatomy of Hatha Yoga", by H. David Coulter.
Very Well Written & Helpful Book; Needs Accompanying DVD.......2007-08-09
Dr. Schatz has written an excellent book on back care, integrating a physician and Yoga teacher's viewpoint. Back physiology and mechanics are well explained and illustrated.
Explaining Yoga postures by text/book is hard and one really needs a teacher in person. Short of that video is helpful. Therefore, I wish Dr. Shaatz would either update the book with DVD/Videos or upload the videos on the Internet on sites like YouTube etc. to make her Yoga for Back Care more practical and useful.
Anybody with chronic back pain/problems will benefit from this book and gain understanding of the back pain; and get therepeutic benefit if they do the Yoga.
Extremely Helpful.......2006-08-13
I have scoliosis and this book has been a tremendous resource in understanding and caring for my condition. The book is a good start and it eventually got me interested in taking some yoga classes and exploring some of the different practices. I'm so glad I found this book; yoga has been a positive force in my life for some time now.
Real yoga, really good advice, well written.......2006-08-07
Lots of back pain books provide exercises, but this one takes them directly from the Iyenger Yoga method; Iyenger revolutionized Yoga from the 1960's to the present by applying contemporary knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the traditional and spiritual aspects of yoga. Teachers trained and certified in Iyenger Yoga are a 'cut' above others from my lengthy experience with Yoga practice. That said, dr. Schatz uses Iyenger's methods (Iyenger also wrote the intro) to design a comprehensive program for all types of back and neck problems; she also provides accurate and clear illustrations of the spine structure and related anatomy. The photos are very clear and easy to understand as are the instructions of asanas and restorative poses.. The book is the right length, size and format. Many back problems can be treated. This book offers programs for many of them; also included is a self-analysis of one's own current posture and alignment. This is no quick fix book; the programs she recommends may take a couple of years to 'work' but it's definitely worth it to live a more vigorous, pain reduced or pain free life.
Review by former physiology instructor and past back pain sufferer!.......2006-06-06
This is my favorite book for addressing back pain issues. It presents a great foundation in the basic anatomy of the back and then uses this information to develop the concepts that help people understand why back and neck pain occur and how to correct it.
The book contains progressive exercises and workouts of various lengths that use Iyengar yoga to address back pain. Each exercise is carefully explained and includes good tips on how to perform each correctly. I also like that it provides the rationale for each exercise and important points to focus on while performing each movement.
There are also chapters on specific problems. This is definitely a comprehensive reference and it has helped me a lot with my own back problems. In addition, it is an excellent overall introduction to yoga.
The author is a physician who had back problems herself. She is highly credible and treated her own back problems with the methods described. I recommend this book to anyone interested in an introduction to yoga or wanting to learn more about rehabilitating back and neck problems using yoga.
Finally, if you are looking for another book on this topic "The Pilates Back Book" by Tia Stanmore is also very good. It also starts out more gently and is somewhat more accessible. However, it's not nearly as comprehensive or as detailed in describing the exercises. I own and use both and recommend owning both to people who are serious about understanding and working with back issues. (
Personally, I also found Tai Chi helpful before I was ready to do yoga. However, I don't have a book I would recommend that would be a good standalone resource. If you go this route, it's probably best to find a good teacher who is also a physical therapist or at least has some knowledge of dealing with back and neck related issues.

Men's Health: The Book of Muscle--The World's Most Authoritative Guide to Building Your Body

Book Description
A revolutionary method of weight lifting using today's science for maximum results.
In The New Rules of Lifting, fitness guru Lou Schuler and strength-training expert Alwyn Cosgrove boil down the most recent findings on weight lifting and fitness to create a program of workouts that focuses on the movements at which the body naturally excels. These six "real-life" movements-squat, bend, lunge, push, pull, and twist-compose three complete programs for three distinct goals: fat loss, muscle gain, and strength improvement.
At home or at the gym, these routines can be mixed and matched for a year's worth of workouts that will keep boredom at bay and lifters challenged long after most plans have called it quits. And while coordinated, useful muscles will always turn heads at the beach, they'll also help you live better and longer. Besides providing comprehensive workout programs, The New Rules of Lifting covers much-needed background on aspects of lifting that are often overlooked, like warming up, nutrition, and meal planning. Throughout, Schuler and Cosgrove debunk strength-training myths, troubleshoot dangerous pitfalls, and clearly illustrate moves with black-and-white photographs.
Customer Reviews:
A Full Body Workout.......2007-07-27
This is a great book with a very good workout plan to fit your goals.
Excellent book, informative, concise, witty..........2007-07-27
About the only thing that could have made this book the perfect purchase would have been an included CD-ROM/DVD with video of what some of the more complex moves really look like in motion. Aside from that, the principles are articulated with wit and clarity. Read this book, never do another boring bicep curl, and make working out fun and challenging once more.
confusion over "functional strength".......2007-07-17
This is a good book, but not always for the reasons given. Contrary to what many trainers are selling nowadays, 'functional strength' is -not- an alternative method in opposition to bodybuilding. Functional strength is not developed by any particular exercise that -resembles- real-life needs. Functional strength is exemplifed in the -specific- activities that you actually do to survive, work, or have fun. No weight movement will , alone, make you carry groceries better , swing a hammer better, or hit home runs more often. The functional exericises for those things, ARE those things. Exercising with weights increases your strength/ability to do the exercise -itself-, with little or no transfer to any other activity, UNLESS, it also develops lean mass. Lean mass/muscle, when applied to other activites, will assist in developing strength at any activity you practice. Bodybuilding, in this sense, is what weight training is, or should be, all about. Don't let the extremists and pros throw you off course. Build muscle, and unless you wish to compete at lifting, forget function until you get to your chosen function. The 'little' exericises like leg extensions, leg curls, abduction , and adduction that are called "not functional" are only called that because they don't help increase your barbell squat ..so what? Is that really your goal?
Strength Training and not Bodybuilding.......2007-06-06
The book is in fact not a book for traditional bodybuilders and it adresses rather the newbies than the experienced lifters. Yet I myself have been lifting weights for almost 16 years. And over those years I made many mistakes. The average bodybuilding routine and gulping down supplements was one of those big mistakes. After having "wasted" years with just pumping up and building hypertrophy I had jumped onto the bandwaggon of old school strength training. I definetly did not regret that, because the BB trining did simply build mass. But I lacked functional strength. Cosgrove and Schuler address this problem in this book and I would not agree that the book just covers some basics of lifting. It is just that their "shared wisdom" is nothing brandnew or complicated. Yet they were able to teach someone like me a few new things and the workout programs by Alwyn Cosgrove are definetly worth the price of the book.
Just don't expect to find the proverbial reinvention of the wheel in this book. It is about a few basic lifts based on natural human movements. That's it. What you will get from that is a strong and truly powerful body. As for pure slabs of muscle mass, this either depends on your genetics and effort, or otherwise stick to the old mass building routines.
Apart from that Alwyn Cosgrove's cynical and dry Scottish sense of humour makes this book a lot of fun to read. The man himself is an excellent srength coach and I recommend his programs and his expertise. However, if you are an experienced lifter or strength athlete, just do not expect to find anything in here that is totally brandnew. But which strength-training book delivers that these days anyway ?
Losing weght.......2007-05-31
Well written and easy to follow. Everything makes sense and I have already lost ten pounds three weeks into the program.
Book Description
This superbly illustrated text familiarizes students with individual muscles and muscle systems and demonstrates basic clinical massage therapy techniques. More than 550 full-color illustrations of internal structures are embedded into photographs of live models to show each muscle or muscle group, surrounding structures, surface landmarks, and the therapist's hands. Students see clearly which muscle is being worked, where it is, where it is attached, how it can be accessed manually, what problems it can cause, and how treatment techniques are performed. This edition features improved illustrations of draping and includes palpation for each muscle. An accompanying Real Bodywork DVD includes video demonstrations of massage techniques from the book.

Best massage therapy book on the market .......2007-10-08
Why you should buy this book:
1. If you want to teach yourself massage.
2. If you massage school gave you a crappy Milady's massage book, or worse, their own hand written, poorly illustrated version.
3. If you really want to own a great massage therapy reference.
Why I think its so great:
The illustrations and visuals, give you everything you need to know to massage any area of the body. They have created a much more 3-d experience to learning massage from a book and translating that experience to a real body. ANYONE can learn from this book. Its an incredible resource. I don't know why every school doesn't use this book! If you are in school -- buy it!
I borrowed this from my library before purchasing it.
It is a must for an massage therapist, bodyworker, or closet healer!
Also great for National exam review.
Just Great.......2007-07-17
I have bought many books and DVD's on massage and anatomy and this is by far the best. It acomplishes what others often fail at and what all my teachers tried to instill in me, looking at a body in a 3 dimensional way. Did I mention the DVD? I was soo suprised that it actually showed everthing (well at least all the anatomy, palaptations, striping and crossfibering) thats in the book. I am very glad I bought this book and see using it again and again, unlike several DVD's and books I currently have.

excellent study guide .......2007-07-05
Highly recommended -I am finding it a great study guide and will be using it for years to come ! an essential tool for massage
why this book was not referred during Massage Therapy studies?.......2007-06-14
I am surprised at the depth of knowledge this book imparts to massage therapist. It will be more useful for National Massage Therapy examination for all aspiring therapists.

This book is dull and boring....in fact, I would never have purchased it if it wasn't required for my college class. Everything in here is common sense or if you watch the news, you all ready know everything presented. I started reading the first chapter and it completely put me to sleep, now when preping for a test, I mearly browse through the book and read the required definitions that will be on the test.
A helpful book on maintaining a healthy life.......2000-04-05
The reason that I purchased the book was because of the health class I was taking at college. As I read through the chapters, they really interest me, and remind me of little things that I have always tend to forget. There are no big theories in the book, just simple "life little reminders". When I purchased this book, it also comes with a workbook, which contains review and practice tests to help you to reinforce the ideas. The book helps me to correct some of my daily bad habbits. And even the class is over now, I still read the book sometime to learn more. I think this is a great book for readers who would like to live a healthy life and to take control of themselves, just like me.

Excellent book.......2007-08-31
This book is a must for those who are dedicated to the art fo prehospital care. Very good editorial standard, easy to read and understand both the basics as well the advanced aspects related to trauma support. Highly recommended.
Good book for the EMT-B, Excellent Review for a Paramedic.......2007-04-30
I just finished taking the course this weekend and I love this book. I'm an EMT-B and its satisfying to finally have a book that is more in depth with regards to injury kinematics, assessments, conditions, and management. There isn't MUCH new that hasn't been covered in an EMT-B course, however, it explains why certain procedures must be done with regards to the physiology of the trauma injury.
I can understand why Paramedics see it as a refresher, but I guess its good for them to reinforce their foundation of knowledge. My belief is that it is too simplified for nurses and doctors, but I'm sure they take ATLS anyway ( as they should!).
The main focus of the book seems to teach the ability to do a rapid assessment and treatment and then "load and go" instead of "stay and play".
Excellent upgrade from the 5th edition........2007-04-10
PHTLS 6th edition, had numerous upgrades from the last edition. This book was very informative of the new procedures we are seeing in prehospital care. It was written for paramedic level of procedure, but was still written to be understood by an EMT-B. The DVD was excellent example of the hands on procedures, unlike the 5th editions CD. A must read for the emergency care personnel.
Trauma Life Support.......2007-01-09
Nice review of BLS and ALS principles and is a good resource for information on emergent trends like use of tourniquets or hemostatic dressings. As a text for learning ALS skills, though, it is lacking in detail or clear photos or diagrams. Photos of intubation are at a distance that makes it hard to see the fine detail required in the technique; images of the cords would be helpful. Similarly, IV access has no visual aids; tips on catheter insertion would be helpful if this were to be used as a teaching text.
A good course.......2006-03-03
For anyone in prehospital medicine, a good course to take. I found a lot of it to be review from my Paramedic class, though.

NOT HONEST.......2007-09-30
idiot sells a question and answer book but doesn't mention the answers are already circled......would NOT buy from this seller.....NOT HONEST!
the only reason he has two stars is because the delivery time was prompt
OK, not great.......2007-04-18
I have edition 4 and just took the PANRE. This edition has some errors as stated in other reviews, which is a bit frustrating when you are panicked and trying to cram for the Boards. It contains a lot of zebras and goes more in depth than you'll be tested on in the PANRE, so it might be good for the PANCE. A better book that reflects the PANRE more accurately is the Zarbock book. Also, I couldn't open the practice test that is on the included CD, it may have been my computer acting up again, but since I was able to open other tests it makes me wonder if the writers of this CD have not made it user friendly (or dummy proof). By the way, I abandoned this book and stuck to the Zarbock book, passed my Boards with a considerable margin, and would say that you can skip this book and probably still be OK for the PANRE.
not acceptable.......2007-03-28
I bought the fourth edition this past winter to study for the PANRE. Overall, it had some good information, however, there were far too many mistakes in the book to be acceptable. I wonder if this book was ever reviewed or edited prior to publishing! There were so many mistakes that I became uncertain of whether information I was studying was accurate or not. The mistakes ranged from simple typographical errors to contradictory answers in different parts of the book. There were so many errors in the psychiatry section that I simply stopped reading that section all together. I hope the 5th edition has gone through better proofreading and editing so that it may be more useful to those studying for the exam. But until then, I would definitely by-pass this book as a study guide.
Review for the 5th ed.......2007-03-26
The 5th edition practice test questions are a little harder than the 4th edition practice test question. Also, THERE ARE MORE TYPO ERRORS!...grr..very frustrating at times. Good explanations though. Good book, but I had some other practice material as well.
Apple and Lange Review for Physician Assisitants.......2007-01-03
This was a great addition to the other study materials I used to study for the BOARDS. The study questions were good.

Customer Reviews:
good content - bad book.......2007-04-20
This book has great content and was used in my fourth year of medical technology studies. However, it gets a two star rating because after about two weeks of solid use the binding falls apart and pages come unglued from the seam and fall out.
Great resource!.......2006-07-29
This text book has a little of everything. A great book to keep on your desk when you need a brief overview of something in the lab. It's sort of like all of your college sophmore math/chem/biology texts condensed into one book.
A really great companion........2004-07-03
It would had been great to have this textbook with me while in my school years. It is always a delight to consult Kaplan's text, since it covers most of the lab issues with enough depth. The illustrations are not colored, but they are still pedagogic. Also, the text is enriched with lots of tables that I have found really useful. Besides this new edition is accompanied with a CD (which to be honest I haven't explore deeply). My opinion is that of a professional which has had to reference by work demands, I'm no student, but as I said before this would have made a great companion.
