Instead of reading one book and hunting around for the most touching or uplifting passage, the Soup brigade of editors and writers scours the published world for brief excerpts, arranges them by category, and sells them by the kabillion.

The spoon-size stories in Chicken Soup for the Couple's Soul hit the spot and warm the heart. Take the case of Dame Margot Fonteyn, the legendary dancer. She fell madly for Latin lover Roberto Arias at 18 in 1937, but history flung them apart. He recourted her 14 years later, after he'd become Panama's ambassador to the UN. This book was so good, I almost read it all in a day. I love true love stories. My two favorite stories were the ones about the apples and about the pay phone. It was really nice to read all these love stories.

Not What I was Hoping For.......2006-11-05

My wife and I had a cross country trip planned (driving from Virginia back to Utah) and we wanted to get some stuff to listen to that would be inspiring and help bolster our marriage of 18 years. We haven't had much alone time with four kids. Well, this one sounded good so we bought it. The stories are okay, but most of them seemed to deal with death and losing a loved one. Didn't do us much good at all.

The Chicken Soup series of books have certainly left an indelible mark on society and CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE COUPLE'S SOUL is no exception. There is a lot to like about all of these books. Usually presented in 2 - 3 page vignettes that make for easy reading and a variety of plots reach varied interests.

This particular volume tells of adventures of finding the love of a life. There are chapters here on finding each other, intimacy, commitment and much more. This is a treasure couples should enjoy together.

I'm a huge fan of the chicken soup series, and this book did not disappoint me.
For a married woman who was in a bit of a rut, it reminded me of just what it means to be in love with someone.
Almost all the stories touched my heart and I even had the courage to share some of them with my husband. It's nice to sit down and read about couples who have had ups and downs and have still managed to survive it all. If you are 1/2 of a couple then I would suggest this book in a heartbeat.

I thought I was getting a like-new book, but the dust jacket is worn more than I would expect. I asked the seller for a small compensation due to their misrepresentation, but I never heard back from them.

This book will lift your spirits any day no matter how bad a day it has been. This shows so many things that women in the workplace encounter and also the lighter side of things. Great book. I especially like it because the stories are short so you don't need a lot of time to get a quick lift.

Every woman alive is a working woman, no matter whether she has a husband and/or children, or not. There are daily struggles with family, weekly struggles with work and ultimately, very emotional struggles with just living! Chicken Soup for the Working Woman's Soul is a moment of relaxation. It's a chance for a woman to sit down with a soothing drink, put her feet up and dive into the issues that we all face - as seen through the eyes of our peers. As a mom, it's a chance for me to see that my kids aren't as wild as I sometimes feel they are ... as a woman, it was the opportunity to see that work and balancing issues happen to everyone ... and as a wife, it gave me a firm appreciation for the amount of work that my husband and I accomplish as we take care of our family. I have grown up with Chicken Soup For The Soul Collections. I can remember buying my first book at a book sale while I was in elementary school. I than moved on to Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul. I recently took a box of books to a book exchange shop and that's where I saw Chicken Soup For The Woman's Soul. I than remembered how much I had loved these heart warming short stories and since I had just turned 20 years old, it was about time I exchange my teenage collection in for the woman's collection. I am 20 years old, married and in college so sometimes I find myself stressed out and emotional so I like to sit down and enjoy a few of these stories. These are great books to own and there is a large variety so that anyone can find one that fits them. My husband and I like to read Chicken Soup For The Couples Soul together and I am looking forward to the day when I can read Chicken Soup For The Mothers Soul.

There are so many Inspiring and touching tales that fills our hearts with emotion. One wonders 'why' things happen as they shouldn't or 'How' do miracles change the course of our lives. There are moments in everybody's life where at a point you encounter obstacles, where your self esteem gets low, attitude differences opine or whatever be, awe-inspiring stories of this book glues you to stir your heart to be more wiser. It rekindles the spirits undoubtedly when we read the emotional narrations of others and wonder - We too come across lot of experiences in life. Should we not pen it down? This is a wonderful book. Once I started it, I didn't want to put it down. I love a format of vignettes (short essays or stories). If you aren't a Christian, you may think these stories are too churchy or just can't be real. But if you ARE a Christian, you know exactly how the power of God carries us through everyday life. The theme of this book touches the soul of Christian women. Stories are either told by a woman of faith, or are about a woman of faith. Both men and women share real incidences from their life, covering nearly every scenario imaginable. The horrible: death, cancer, physical disfigurements, abuse, divorce. And the glorious: miraculous healings, new love, the wonder of children, God's protective hand. Though quite varied in content, each story testifies to God's grace, strength, and abundant love. This book offers a bond with the women who wrote it and Christian women all over the world. The stories offer hope, encouragement and a whole range of other emotions that strengthen that bond. I received this book from a dear cousin of mine during a time in my life when I was going through a rough patch. It was hard to read at first because of my fragile emotional state--that being said however, it also helped me to read some of the stories because they opened up a side of me that had stayed hidden for a long time. It took about 2 months, but I finally felt ready to read the whole book and it was truly wonderful. It was an emotional roller coaster--but an inspirational one that I needed.

Great Stories for MOMS!.......2003-09-29

There are several books that enlighten you, and this is surely one of them. Then there are books that change you, books that you take with you for the rest of your life, and these you must share with fellow seekers. These are the books that have unconditionally inspired me to be a better person and that I recommend to anyone searching for inspiration. The first is "The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho" this book is all about a shepherd trying to find his treasure. In the end he realizes his treasure was the journey, the people he met, the souls that touched him(How beautiful!) The second is "Siddhartha by Herman Hesse" A brilliant tale of a man who gives up everything for a journey of enlightenment. On his journey he meets the Buddha, he meets ascetics, and he meets his...(I wont spoil it for you). The last one is for kids, but it is still beautiful. "The Butterfly by Jay Singh" is a tale about a caterpillar in search of her smile! One day this caterpillar realizes she can no longer smile anymore because she is living an inauthentic life. She musters the courage to leave the Silk Palace to find her smile and discovers a whole new world that was hidden from her. Buy them, read them, be inspired!

Worth to read it.......2006-11-10

This "serving" of the Chicken Soup for the soul shows the vision, way of thinking and feelings of AfroAmerican women, which have had a so great role in the shaping of the recent history of the USA. I've missed more stories from the "old days", more stories told from grandmothers to their grandchildren and I think the book would be richer with them. Also, it doens't show the sad face of the racism many of those women have suffered and even if it's extremely hard and sad, it's not less true and it must be told in order to avoid such facts being repeated.

I'm really enjoying this book. I'm formerly an avid reader who recently has been so busy that spending time reading and finishing a good, thick book has been quite a challenge. I like this book because while I'm commuting or waiting in the doctor's office or whatever I can choose at random any of these short, stories and get a quick "pick me up" a little lift in my spirits that gets me through my day in a better frame of mind.
I definitely reccommend it!

I have enjoyed reading about the joys, the struggles, the good and the bad of this wonderful culture. Women have many roles, moms, daughters, sisters, aunts, wives, friends. I have enjoyed reading about all of these roles from personal experiences and veiws of the writers. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys good reading and want to know more about the phenomenal black woman.

This is a great read! The stories are uplifting, inspirational and soothes the soul. I met quite a few of the contributors in LA at the Staples Center release and they were personable, touchable and very encouraging. If they can do it, so can you!
