Broken Hearted Mom.......2007-04-05
This book is a total joke. My daughter and I had several sessions with Frances Firman Solario. She ruined my family. Frances Firman Solario did not encourage forgiveness like she writes in her book. She cast both mother and daughter against one another. My daughter and I were on better terms before we started seeing Frances Firman Solario. My daughter and I are no longer on speaking terms. My family is broken. I highly would NOT recommend this book or recommend that you use Frances Firman Solario as a therapist.

Above average writing sets this book apart from others of its genre. Stories are engrossing without seeming contrived. All in all, a well put together collection of stories, quotes and cartoons that ACTUALLY is inspiring.

This is a beautiful book of short stories about the laughter & tears experienced between mother and daughter and, in some instances, 3 generations of mothers & daughters. There were a few stories that I really didn't see the point in and didn't understand why there were included, but all-in-all, the stories made me laugh and cry. I purchased the book as a mother's day gift for my mom, but had to read it myself first!
It's a great gift for yourself or mother/daughter. It's an enjoyable and sometimes tear-jerking read and sometimes a mirror of a relationship you have/had or would like to have.

I am having a hard time getting through this book--it is very hard to read with tears in your eyes. I just bought it, and have only read a few entries, but it is great. I am not a "Chicken soup book" fan. They have over-saturated the market in my opinion. However, this title caught my eye, and was hard to resist. I now plan to order copies for my dear friends for Mother's day gifts.

Loved but expected different stories.......2005-07-18
I really hate to give any "Chicken Soup" book less than a 5 star because I am a huge fan.
I was slightly disappointed in the content of this book. I really was hoping and expecting that it would have more stories about giving birth. It says on the cover that the 101 stories inspire and warm the hearts of soon-to-be-mothers but I felt like the subjects were too general.
For example, the contents are 1. We're Pregnant, 2. Nine Months and Counting, 3 Expectant Fathers, 4. Challenges along the Way, 5. Special Delivery 6. Small Miracle 7. Memorable moments, 8. On Motherhood, 9. Expectant Wisdom.
I didn't find many birth stories - in fact, I don't think there was even one.
However, in spite of my need for positive birth stories, I still love the stories that they put in the book.

Although I read almost every single publication of Chicken Soup, I must say this is definitely my favourite, especially that we are expecting our third child.
Before reading this book, I must admit I was not sure if we did the right thing to concieve a third child but now I know more than missing to cherish every moment of our pregnancy.
This book has moved every kind of feelings in us from happiness to excitement, to sadness at some times and made me thankful for this beautiful gift from God.
This is a must for every expectant parent.

I was not familiar with the "Chicken Soup" books until someone gave me this one as a gift. I must say it makes a very thoughtful gift for a preganant woman, but otherwise you should treat yourself to it. The short stories in this book are written by different authors, all with real-life expectant parent stories. Some stories are sad, some joyful, some downright miraculous- but all of them are inspirational. The stories relate to a wide variety of expectant parents including those who adopt, struggle with infertility, experience an unplanned pregnancy, suffer loss, and juggle a large family. Read all the books you want on physical pregnancy health, but put this one on your list for spiritual pregnancy health.

I have read many of the chicken soup for the soul books and I like them all. This one is especially meaningful for me. I have four kids but only one son. My son was born three weeks early. His father was so excited to have a boy after three girls. The day I came home from the hospital I went to put my son to bed and came back to the living room to find my husband had collapsed. I called for an ambulance and it turned out that my husband had an aneurysm. They did tests and were able to find out exactly where it was and attempted surgery. Unfortunately it was not successful and he died a few weeks later. I did not want to be pessimistic when he went in the hospital but I knew he would not come out of the hospital. I believe my son was born early for a reason and that reason was so his father could know that he had a son. That is another reason my son is so special to me. This book had many stories I could identify with. If you are a mother with a son or sons I highly recommend reading this book.

my family got this as a gift about 8 years ago. I don't remember much about it but I remember the stories about the mother losing her son during a skiing accident, the girl who bought her mom bobby pins for her birthday and the story where they're celebrating a grandmother's birthday and she dies at the end of the party after seeing her entire family at the celebration.

The subtitle of this book: "More Stories to Open the Hearts and Rekindle the Spirits of Mothers" is exactly right.Only Scrooge himself, may not be moved in some way by the heartwarming and inspirational stories, recounting life's ups and downs that are to be found here. Part 2 of the Mother's Soul continues to touch your heart and soul.
The stories are short. There are some author's names you'll recognize. Erma Bombeck and George Burns, contribute their memories. But mostly, these are stories of everyday moms, that we can all relate to in some way. If you have a mother,are married to one,or even just know a mother, you will find something in here, that will make you want to go call them. If you are a mother, you will totally relate to these stories. Written by the grown children, the husbands, the best friends, or by mother's themselves. There are true life stories of love and courage, they are humorous, some are sad. You'll laugh, you'll cry! ANOTHER TOP-NOTCH BOOK!.......2001-05-05
I recently purchased this book for my daughter, also a mother, for her 30th birthday. The book, like all the other "Chicken Soup" books, is filled with writings that will make you smile, bring a tear to your eye, and cause you to reflect upon your own childhood memories of what you either had or perhaps, for whatever reason, did not have in a mother. If you are a mother, yourself, you will relate to the overwhelming love you feel for your children. You will realize how precious and wonderful they are and always will be throughout all the years to come. The book will make you want to hug them... just one more time while they are still yours to hold.
There is something contained in this book for everyone, and written in the typical fashion of pervious books of this nature, each page is a joy to read and incredibly inspiring and heart-warming. Another wonderful chicken soup book!!! Full of beautiful heart warming stories and quotes. I enjoyed this book as much as any other of the Chicken Soup books (which is quite a bit). I love the sad, happy, joyful and beautiful stories. Is this book only for mothers though? The answer is definitely no! Dads, grandmas, grandpas, sisters, brothers, anyone whose ever raised and cared for a life younger than them should read this book.
