Sign Babies Flash Cards Animals.......2007-09-24
I purchased these flash cards to help my family learn ASL as I have two hard of hearing children who are learning at school. The children like the pictures and often look through them on their own practicing the signs. My one complaint is that some of them have been simplified to be easier for small children with poor motor skills and the card does not show the correct sign.
Fun for preschoolers.......2007-01-14
These cards are nice for teaching simple words to preschoolers but are overpriced.

Book Description
It's as easy as waving bye-bye!
Babies have a lot to say, even before they can actually speak familiar animal names like "dog" and "bunny." Baby Signs are simple gestures that allow babies and toddlers to communicate what they see, what they need, and even how they feel. Research has shown that Baby Signs decrease frustration and tantrums and help your baby talk sooner.
When to begin: When your child starts to wave bye-bye.
How to do it: Show your baby the sign and point to the picture. Always say the word as you make the sign.
Improvise: Make up your own signs -- your baby probably will too!
Customer Reviews:
Baby Signs books are great - this is my favorite.......2006-11-14
Every night we would read and practice our signs. By the time she was one year old, she could sign the signs from this book. Ok, her signs were not perfect but I knew what she was talking about. Learning signs has really helped with her communicating with us. I am so glad she learned the signs. Now, at 2 years old, she talks and uses the signs to help us understand.
Great pictures but signs are not ASL!.......2006-10-27
Checked out this book for my 1 year old son and he loved the real pictures of kids and animals. However, I was disappointed because the signs are NOT American Sign Language signs. We ended up looking at the pictures in this book, while doing the ASL we already knew. I would recommend the baby sign books by Kim Votry and Curt Waller instead as they use real ASL.
a favorite!.......2006-09-16
My daughter is now 12 months old and she has been enjoying her Baby Signs books from the very beginning. When she was young she just enjoyed looking at the faces but now she selects them for story time and looks at them on her own - even making the signs as she reads the book to herself. These books definitely helped her pick up the signs and the pictures help her to link both the work and the object. Fabulous!
Cute book, but not ASL.......2006-01-03
I got this book out of the library when I first started looking into signing with my son. The book's pictures are very engaging and fun and my son really enjoyed looking at this book which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3.
I was really dissapointed though when I found out that many of the "signs" used in this book aren't the actual American Sign Language signs. I wanted to use ASL signs with my son so he could communicate not only with me, but others outside of my family, but this book has made up gestures for many of the pictures in it. Luckily I had only been showing my son the "signs" in this book for a short while so I quickly replaced them with the actual ASL ones, but I was upset that this book didn't clearly indicate anywhere that the signs in it were made up gestures and not ASL. For children's board books with ASL I would recommend the Garlic Press "First Signs" and others in the series. If you are looking for a cute and engaging board book for your baby though this one fits the bill, just if ASL is important to you show the ASL signs to your baby instead of the made up gestures in the book.
My 2nd favorite baby sign book.......2004-06-08
My favorite of the series is the "My first signs" book, as it gave our baby her start on signing. This one is a close second. Our daughter's always been enchanted by animals, and she loves to look at the pictures of the animals in the book. Some of the signs are a little confusing to her (she won't do horse, cow, mouse, or butterfly (she thinks butterflies are flowers no matter how much we sign "butterfly" to her))
But she loves to look at the pictures and do the signs for the rest of the pages. She does like to look at the pictures of the signs she doesn't do yet. Once she started to get the idea of signing animals, I've had to invent new signs for zoo animals and other animals not in the books! (camel, which she loves to sign, is pretending to spit, btw).

Customer Reviews:
What a wonderful book! .......2007-05-07
I work with infants and use baby sign to help the children communicate with us. This book is just wonderful! Great pictures and simple gestures help you and the child lean the signs for animals like cat, dog, fish, hamster, lizard, mouse, and the list goes on and on. What I like about this book is that they try and stay with familiar animals and animals the children may have had actual contact with. There are a few like "panda" that are a bit exotic, but still something you could find at the zoo.
I highly recommend this book.
Product Description
The Sign2Me Flash Cards are designed to make it fun for everyone to expand their signing vocabulary. The front of each card displays a colorful illustration while the reverse side teaches users how to make the associated sign. Each card contains the ASL illustration for the sign along with the English and Spanish words and phonetic pronunciations giving the user the three most popular languages used in the United States. Each pack includes 28 colorful cards with a tri-fold brochure that contains instructions as well as illustrations of the main hand shapes used in making the ASL signs. Each pack comes in a heavy duty cardboard box that acts as a storage device. The Animal & Colors Pack contains signs like: Color, Blue, Red, Monkey, Dog, Cow and Snake.
Customer Reviews:
Great for kids with Autism!.......2007-08-23
These cards offer a great tool for helping non-verbal children with Autism to learn sign language. The pictures are clear and colorful. Great buy!
Very good.......2007-05-15
I use the flashcards with my baby who is 11 months old. We both like them: they are a good baby-book size with nice, simple, colorful pictures. The cards can be wiped off but are a bit thin for baby's hands - he likes to fold and bend them. On the back side one can see how the hand sign is done, which helps me, and my baby also likes to study this. What I don't like so much is how the cards are grouped by topics in each box and that one cannot tell when ordering online which exact words are inside. I found, for example, that in none of the three boxes I bought, there were verbs such as "eat" or "drink" which are words usually taught early to hearing babies. There is only a small number of flash cards in each box that we actually use. I would have prefered to buy one box with cards geared towards hearing babies that includes the most commonly used signs, instead of purchasing three boxes and only use 5 words from each one. For me it was worth spending the money, though, because those few cards we use every day and enjoy it.

Excellent Signing Aid for Teaching and Learning.......2007-01-03
This book is great. My little boy communicates almost exclusively in sign language and we are having to learn along with him. This makes it easier to teach, and with the pictures, he picks it up pretty quickly.
needs lots of explanation for people who don't sign.......2004-08-29
Our daughter uses ASL to communicate and I bought this book for her nurses, thinking that it would give them some basic vocabulary to use with her. The pictures are very basic and it is hard to understand what kind of movement is going on. There are no written explanations for performing each movement. This makes it difficult for someone to know if the sign is correct. (Not important if you are using signs short term, but important in our case.) I highly recommend the Signing Time video series. Lots of very useful signs and the videos are just as interesting as Elmo or Barney to our daughter!
Beautiful book, great signs, wonderful for all ages.......2003-10-09
This book is wonderful. It is larger than I expected (9 x 7 in.) and the pages are full of very colorful images accompanied by a clear illustration depicting each animal's sign.
The book contains 16 pages and those pages are packed with images and signs - one for every letter of the alphabet.
A very inexpensive way to add to your signing library. I highly recommend this book.

Nice selection of animals.......2006-05-17
Actually, I'd give this 4 1/2 stars if I could. Each page has a photograph of the named/signed animal and a drawing showing how to do the sign. I'd give it 5 full stars if they had a photo of a child doing the sign. On the other hand, the books that do that use two pages for each word, so I guess this way you get more words. The words:
cat, kitten, dog, puppy, mouse, bunny, bird, turtle, fish, frog, duck, cow, horse, pony, lamb, pig, squirrel, bear, elephant, monkey, lion, tiger, camel, alligator, spider, snake
Since we have chickens, I wish they'd done that sign. Also, they incorrectly used the word "pony." What they picture is a foal. A pony is a different beast.
Overall, a good book that I'm looking forward to sharing with my baby when he's old enough.

Wonderful book!.......2004-07-03
This is a great book! I've actually had to buy two copies (the first was read so much during mealtime that it was covered in cereal and had to be replaced!). My son first sign was "fish" because of the beautiful photo of a goldfish in this book! Both my children love to spend time reading this book with me. I learned the signs from the drawings in the book, and my children learned the signs from me reading the book with them over and over - it's an absolute favourite!
A great book for teaching kids the ASL alphabet........2000-03-21
The pictures of animals are stunning. My son was immediately captivated by the large, colorful images. He's now 2, and has learned the signs for 11 letters of the alphabet - in only 3 weeks. However, a few of the animal/sign combinations were obscure; Lynx for L - it looks like a cat, N is represented by a Nautilus shell. I think it's a great book. He and I had a lot of fun, his finger dexterity has improved immensely and he will now do the letter signs on his own...
great for sign language.......1998-10-17
great book to teach sign to kids, especially those w/special needs.
Nice Pictures, poor diagrams of signs.......1998-10-03
I was very disappointed with this book. Although the photos of the animals are adorable, the accompanying sign for the animal is only 1"x1" hardly big enough for an adult to learn from let alone a 2 year old. I realize this is a baby book, but I am teaching my son to sign and he learns from looking at the picture also.
