Very Informative.......2007-03-10
This book is chocked full of very helpful information and easy to read and understand. I recommend it to anyone interested in improving their health.
Detoxing with common sense.......2003-05-13
This is a good book to read for following your first detox. But I did find that my body needed some protein on the second day. So I added beans to the evening meal of miso the second night and it worked like a charm. This book contains some New Age mumbo-jumbo, but if you follow the dietary plans, you will see some amazing benefits. As the book recommends, I highly recommend you stick with a strict vegi diet the week before your detox to get the most benefits. I started on a Tuesday. By the following Tuesday I had lost 9 pounds and felt so great I hated going off the detox plan. Once you try a couple of different plans in this book, you figure out what works best for you. I invested in a Green Power juicer ..., the kind that juices wheatgrass, and I'm using it like crazy. You can also pick up a book of juicing recipes that will help you find ways to make the juices more delicious. Enjoy!
...
excellent book!.......2002-02-17
One of the best books I have ever read. A must have book for everyone!
Clear, Complete and Informative.......2000-05-27
This book is very concise and useful but is never overly-wordy and unnessarily complicated. Very well-thought out and great resources cited as well. If you want to re-charge and feel "cleaner" than you may be able to imagine, read this book!

The "Conspiracy": The World's Worst Kept Secret.......2006-07-23
THE CURE CONSPIRACY by Gayle K. Wood suggests via its title that it is anti-traditional medical science and pro natural remedies, sort of like a scaled down version of Kevin Trudeau's iconoclastic NATURAL CURES "THEY" DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW. This book is nothing of the sort. It strictly follows the FDA and AMA party line of accepted treatments. About the most "natural" remedies that Wood endorses is drink lots of water and herbal tea, do yoga, and have hypnosis for pain. The so-called other "natural" cures Woods frowns on--DHEA, Guggul for cholesterol control, and chelation therapy--she relegates to quackery. Conversely, other "natural" cures she endorses--Botox, Dairy for weight loss, and magnets for osteoarthritis--are now increasingly seen as useless at best and harmful at worst by naturopaths and herbalists.
For those who truly wish to learn of alternative therapies that the FDA, FTC, and AMA look down on but have been endorsed by generations of practitioners and users who are not in bed with Big Business will have to look elsewhere.
Customer Reviews:
Very detailed and helpful book........2007-02-21
This book is very detailed and quite informative about this subject. It is pretty deep reading compared with "Your Body Doesn't Lie", but it is also very helpful on the subject. I would not suggest this book for newbies, but rather for those that would rather delve deeper into the subject.
very interesting.......2005-10-11
Its one of my favorites, all of the tricks that it mentions are great. Its hard to stop reading, its full of great information and tips, it opened my eyes as to how far chiropractic treatment together with kinesiology will help people eliminate obstructions, and achieve great health.
It has it all.......2002-03-07
It contains practical detox recipes and instructions, muscle testing guidelines and easy to read charts. It goes into alternative therapies and yet, thankfully in my case, skips gem therapy.
Expected More.......2002-02-25
The book did cover Clinical Kinesiology and related areas, but not at the depth that I had expected based on the other reviews of the book. The authors presented "real" examples, but failed to follow up with corrective solutions for the "lay person". Most of the solutions were "your muscle tested weak, see a professional for help". I didn't expect the level of detail that is contained in the six Beardall books, but some corrective examples (like in the Touch For Health books) would have been appropriate. Enough said, it was interesting reading.
Awesome! Great for any health professional.......2000-05-27
I found this book to be very insightful and detailed. It is easy enough for laymen as well as the professional. I got a hold of this book after training in Applied Kinesiology (AK). After a long hard look it appears that this book is the only Clinical Kinesiology book in print. All others appear to be out of print. I would enjoy more published work based on the late Alan Beardall, D.C.. Also, I'd like to comment on the great section in the book on sub-clinical Candidiasis.
Truely a great book (especially for the cost).

There's no one-size-fits-all diet, says author Ann Louise Gittleman (Supernutrition for Women, Beyond Pritikin). That's why some people will drop 25 pounds on fad diets while others will actually gain weight, and why some folks thrive on an ultra-low-fat diet while they make others feel like collapsing. Gittleman says there are some foods that everyone should avoid, such as refined sugar, margarine, and white flour products, but figuring out which foods are good for you is a bit more complicated. She's drawn upon her extensive nutritional background and found that three factors combine to determine which customized diet you should follow. One of these factors is heritage; those with a Scandinavian, Irish, or Welsh ancestry need more essential fatty acids than others, such as those found in cold-water fish. The other two are metabolic rate (some people just burn food more quickly than others) and blood type (type O is the oldest blood type, and therefore folks who are type O should avoid dairy foods and other items introduced late in the evolutionary scheme of things).
She includes a questionnaire to determine how fast you metabolize food, and a week's worth of sample menus to guide you along the appropriate eating plan for your particular profile. Gittleman also debunks the "fat is the root of all evil" diet myth by explaining how fat actually boosts immune function and aids weight loss. There's also extensive supplement information and helpful explanations of the often-misunderstood roles of protein, fat, and carbohydrate, along with resources for everything from amino acid testing for vegetarians to home-study courses in nutrition. This is a fine book for anyone looking to lose weight--not fall victim to the latest dieting fad.

Ageless health.......2007-07-08
This is the clearest, most succinct information on the what and why
of good nutrition for persons of any age or condition that I have read.
SAME STUFF WITH DIFFERENT BOOK NAMES !.......2005-09-21
I have read 3 books of Ann in last 3-4 months and no doubt loved it, but not sure If I am reading same info in different books with different titles from her.
I guess I am not buying this title and anymore of her unless it has way different contents...
I think the idea is good, but needs alittle work.......2004-06-27
I would have like more indepth information regarding the menu planning. Can you mix some of the foods together, will you get the same result?? What, some of the ideas were vague.
You would starve.......2004-01-07
I was shocked to discover that according to Gittleman I am supposed to exist on 4 - 6 oz of protein a day! Is she kidding with this? If you actually adopted her eating guides you might survive, but you would wish you were dead. Save your money, this is an extremely restrictive diet! Very unrealistic!!
Not a bad read, but incomplete.......2002-10-24
I recently read Ann Louise Gittleman's book "The Fat Flush Plan" and followed the program for a month and half with very good results. I liked her style and her approach. She's not just another nutritionist or lean person writing a book about something she never had to experience - she knows what it means, to be on a diet thinking that it's the healthiest possible and seeing fail on you, she knows what it means to be on the search for "the perfect weight loss plan" or "the healthiest diet". So when I heard about this book, I was positively thrilled.
Creating a taylored regimen utilizing a combination of different approaches that have been developed through the years is a brilliant idea - after all, metabolic typing and the blood group diet seem to have worked great for a lot of people, but they too were inperfect plans. So combining the two of them and adding the data about ancestry and body needs developed through one's "family tree" seemed like the best idea of all. But a work like this would go into very many aspects and peculiarities, since each approach has its own flaws and supposedly these could be sort of fixed by jumping in with a different approach. In other words, a book like what this book promises would have be much thicker and go into each "tool of personalization" much deeper than this book actually does. It does contain some useful info, and anyone who can fit into the categories very specifically will find it helpful. But in my case, this book didn't tell me anything that could help me taylor my food regimen to my needs - I happen to be of the blood group AB, which is the newest and least common one, so I am told to find a balance between the A group diet and the B group diet. No tayloring on that aspect. Then we come to consider the metabolic typing, and I seem to be a fast burner, except I have some key characteristics of the slow burner, like a passion for cakes, sweets and pastries, and a feeling that no meal is complete without a sweet fix. So that also puts me kind of in the middle.
In short, this book is based on an excellent idea but it barely touches the tip of the iceberg. In order to be truly helpful and complete it would need to go much more into each approach and include research on the "exceptions".
A good read for anyone who doesn't have much knowledge of the field of nutrition, mainly an interesting read, but not very useful, for anyone else.

The Body Knows Diet.......2006-07-05
FABULOUS! This book is the KEY to balancing your body and being your ideal weight and Feeling fabulous! I have all the diet books and NOW I have found a book that WORKS for me and apparently everyone who does it. Food allergies.like
wheat, dairy, soy, corn and yeast can cause bloating, weight gain and all sorts of physical problem like diabetes. I don't know many people who like to be fat. Somehow wearing a maturnity swim suit when one is not pregant, does little for the self esteem. GET THIS BOOK! I no longer feel fatique and the weight is melting off. My body knows what it doesn't like and I feel so good that I feel like dancing
and running and walking and hiking. No more aches and pains. I have real energy. I am so grateful to Caroline Sutherland for sharing her wisdom. I also love the CD that comes with this book. It makes me relax into a deep sleep. I also have the DVD of Caroline lecturing. I highly recommend the book, CD and DVD.
The DVD has a lot of valuable information. GET THEM ALL and feel great!
I'd give this rating a 10 but it only goes up to 5. So 5 it is.
Crack the Weight-Loss Code.......2006-04-10
Caroline Sutherland's book has transformed my life. Not only is it helping me lose excess weight, it has also brought me to a greater understanding of how my body works and how to interpret what it has been trying to tell me for years. With her intuitive guidance, experience, wisdom and passion, Caroline fearlessly leads the way to victory, for all of us. You do not have to anguish any more over your weight, food or body image. Allow Caroline's weight-loss program to lift you to new heights, as it has for me. I highly recommend this book.
Good Ideas.......2006-02-23
This book had some great ideas and concepts. They are idea's that i have actually been thinking about myself, that's why i bought the book. She also gives some great tips, however I'm not sure about eliminating all the things she says from my diet. She said herself that she just went to an allergist to figure out what she was allergic to, so basically this book just made me want to go to an allergist first before even trying her diet. Because what if you come to find out that you're only allergic to one of the things and have been cutting everything else out of my diet when you dont need to.
Another thing about this book that was sort of annoying is that she repeated herself over and over again, so it basically felt like you were just reading the same 2 paragraphs over and over again just written 5 different ways, it was this way for the whole book. And anotehr thing that bugged me was that there were a lot of grammatical errors, now i know that i'm not the best at writing nor am i an english major. But when it comes to books that are dealing w/ your health is does look really unprofessional and makes you almost second guess the information being told.
So basically i would recommend this book as a stepping stone to an overweight person to possibly take allergies into consideration for their problem.
I have clear breathing ..........2005-10-17
This book has been one of the best things I have done for myself in years. I have had a stuffed up head and sinus condition for decades. Doctors give me medicine, which does not deal with the cause and creates other problems.
I find I have an allergy to corn and wheat, which appears to be in everything and after less than a week of eliminating corn and wheat I can breathe clearly and deeply and I don't cough in the mornings. I am thrilled. I am working with the book and checking out dairy products too.
I was not looking for a diet book; however I lost alittle weight already too.
Your body Knows!!.......2005-10-13
This is more than a Diet Book!It explains your moods and why your body reacts to foods the way they do. Some foods give you energy and some can cause fatigue,by listening to your body you can easily tell which. Nutrition programs offered advice that did not take into consideration possible food allergies. The implications of not knowing this is frightening! This isn't adiet book that says eat this not that.It guides you on your own personal path.

Must have for every woman!.......2000-11-11
I was so excited to find this book in the "bargain" bin. I have read it two times, but as a poor college student didn't have the money to order it before.
This book gives a great overview of everything a woman needs to know - nutrition, health (including various disease information), fitness and more! It's a great quick reference book and is very easy to read and get the basics about so many important issues. It even includes a plan to get you going to losing weight and becoming more healthy! I have had problems with food in my life and this book always inspires me to achieve my goals. I can't wait to get it and be able to pick it up each time I'm having a weak moment.

Customer Reviews:
The amazing science of human sexuality.......2000-04-14
This excellent book explains male reproductive anatomy, its normal functioning and the problems that can occur in a completely accessible way without compromising the medical science. You might buy this book for information on a particular problem or condition but it is well worth reading from cover to cover. If you think science is boring read Dr. Morgentaler's chapter on ejaculation or his explanation of the events leading to the exact moments of fertilization. The drama of these ordinary human biological events is described in heart pounding detail. This book is important because it has the potential to replace widespread ignorance and misinformation with the bright light of scientific understanding.
