Great to have on hand!.......2006-04-13

I think all the God's Promise type books originated from this one. It's still the best, most concise, least expensive of them all, and my personal favorite. It's cheap, which makes it easy to keep a copy at work, in your purse, at home etc. It's perfect for those days when feel like screaming, take your book to a private place, find the appropriate verses and you'll be empowered to continue on within minutes.

The perfect book for those of us who ask ourselves "Where can find guidance when I feel........?" This book fills in the blank and much more... Strongly recommended for those Christians who have not mastered the bible yet, but seek daily guidance.

Good Topical Compilation of Bible Verses.......2006-10-24

This is a good topical compilation of Bible verses rooted in the promises of God. It's no substitute for Bible and devotional reading, but a nice supplement reference tool. The topics are varied and practical for the ups and downs of the Christian walk. I recommend this little book.

The Message paraphrase is really good for young people. This little book is a great value, cost effective. I have the opportunity to mentor through the largest non profit in Michigan dealing with teenage girls in distress www.vistamaria.org. The Message Promise Book has been helpful in that commitment.

What I especially liked is the ease of this little book, and its conciseness, right to the point. I have gifted it a couple of times. This book is a great tool.

Wonderfully Relevent Promises of God.......2007-07-03

The Message Promise Book is a collection of God's promises given to Christians taken from the Message. (The Message is a recent translation of the Bible into today's language.) The promises were organized into topics so you could find what you needed to hear quickly. I found this selection of God's promises to be wonderfully encouraging and easy to understand. I bought one for myself and later bought another copy which made a great gift.

I have two of these: one at home and one at work. When ever I feel an emotion and need some soothing I go to this book. Look up the topic and read the scripture. Alot of times I will randomly just open the book and read what pops up. Great help in time of need.

I love this book as it is a handy quick reference book for when you are helping others and need a certain Bible verse to comfort, encourage, etc. Bought one of each of my 8 children to have! Many different topics to look up to help in times of trouble. A must have and small enough to carry with you, but print is nice size also.

The best Scripture-based "Promises" book available.......2007-01-29

The compiler of this book (Dr. A. L. Gill) has crafted the single most powerful book of God's Promises. First, the Scripture is primarily drawn from the King James Version of The Bible. Newer "Living" translations, while they may be useful, occasionally change the meaning and context as a by-product of "updating" the language. With King James Version Scripture, you can't go wrong. Second, this is a reference work organized in a primarily situational manner. If you have a need, the book guides you to Scripture that addresses that need. Finally, other than the organizational text, it's 100% Scripture. Too often authors of "Promises" books add their own agenda and interpretation. Depending upon the author, this can cause more harm than good. This book places God's word in your mind and in your heart and lets you decide what He is trying to communicate to you. This book is a topical reference for finding Bible verses according to what the verse is about. The topics such as love, suffering, grace, etc are listed alphabetically and are followed by one or more verses that pertain to that subject. This makes it easy quickly find a verse for every occasion and important topics covered in the Bible.

It calmed me as the book contains specific Bible verses that speak to your need at a particular time in your life. It helps to increase your faith. Encouraging reminder of God's promises.......2003-10-07

This book was given to me while I was in a crisis. My life was turned upside-down. People had lied and betrayed me. There was nothing or nobody that I could trust, except God. This book offered a catagorized collection of God's promises of hope and comfort that I could hang onto, and it gave me security. Since that time I have used this book like a topical bible to add verses to encouragement cards and have given away a handful of copies to Christian friends in need of a reminder of God's unfailing love. I have a few other versions of promise books, but this one is indispensible!

from "abuse" to "yearning", TD Jakes' inspirational book details a bible verse for every situation and healing words that uplift the spirit and soothes the soul. For women who are going thru tough times in their lives and making "baby steps" to the Lord, this book will be dog-eared thru multiple use and constant referencing, never straying far from the coffee table or bedside. The underlying message is that we mortals must realize that God has a plan for our lives and that our pain/suffering/loss is a temporary building block on the steps for him to receive, then deliver us. It's very hard to put down--and the way it is arranged makes it a book that you will pick up time and again throughout your life. It is arranged by emotions/feelings and conditions.
