Book Description
Quantum-Touch is the touch-based healing technique that uses the chi of both practitioner and client, bringing them into harmony to allow the body to heal itself. Quantum-Touch differs from other healing techniques because it does not require long years of study and presents none of the common hurdles of understanding or application; anyone can learn to use it to become a healer, both of others and of self. In this new edition of his best-selling guide, Richard Gordon leads the reader step by step, clearly explaining how to use breathing and body-focusing techniques to raise one's energy levels. Once that is achieved, the healer can correct posture and alignment, reduce pain and inflammation, help balance emotional distress, and even heal pets. Above all, Quantum-Touch can be used in tandem with all other healing modalities, including Western medicine, and its efficacy has been attested to by physicians, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and other healing professionals.
Customer Reviews:
One Minute Hip realignment.......2007-07-31
Richard Gordon writes with such clarity, caring and love, and the drawings and photos are wonderful. This is a superbly helpful book, easy to follow and learn from. After months of seeing a chiropractor with a rotation in my hips, the problem was gone in about two minutes by just following the simple breathing-touch exercise shown in the book for hip alignment. My husband (a "nonbeliever") positioned his hands lightly and breathed energy as I instructed reading from the book, and lo and behold, my hips aligned themselves. No pain, no complicated procedure. Simple and direct, and I am so very thankful! Just that healing alone more than paid for the price of this invaluable book.
This stuff does work.......2007-07-26
I'm just an occasional user of the healing arts. I started out learning w/ Healing Touch from a gifted practitioner who told me about it. When I tried it on my mother, the pains would just radiate into my arms and I'd feel drained after a session. Then I found Quantum Touch and combined therapies. After more than a year later and only several tries, I can now do a session on my mother without the pain or drain associated with it. While watching her vital signs monitor, I saw some normalization in her breathing and heart beat while running energy on her vs. when I stopped running energy.
I also tried the coca cola trick and it does remove the carbonation, but for me, it does take time and concentration. Not bad at all for a newbie who's never done this before.
I only gave it 4 stars because the publication itself had misquoted pages numbers and I had to search for the correct page. Other than that, it's very easy to learn and has made a huge difference when I use it.
Fun stuff. Who knows, maybe I'll make a career out of this.
Almost perefect.......2007-05-19
This book is excellent in covering the basics of Quantum Touch therapy as well as presenting some very valuable tips on how to condcut a healing session properly. These tips are applicable to other healing modalities and not just Quantum Touch. The reason I gave the book four stars is because the exercises lack a more thorough description which makes it somewhat harder to learn on one's own. However, if you are not yet familiar with what Quantum Touch really is and are looking for a solid, down-to-earth, practical and effective healing modality, this is the book to read.
Quantum Touch.......2007-04-05
I stumbled upon this book, it is the teaching book to the course Quantum Touch. It is so easy to read and learn the techniques they are putting forth. If you are interested in hands-on healing this book is a must!
It tells you all about how it works, and case studies. It teaches you very simply how to use the healing energy to help yourself and others.
Helpful information.......2007-03-26
I bought this book along with Energy Medicine and find both very helpful. I work with energy healing and they are both enlightening and useful with my EFT practice.

Book Description
Possibly the most famous and widely used resource in therapeutic bodywork (required for national massage therapy certification), this beautifully written, detailed, and reader-friendly picture of how and why the body responds to touch is both scientifically reliable and inspiring. Furthering the presentation of recent research in biochemistry, cell biology, and energy medicine in the Second Edition, this new update includes advances in neurophysiology and physics, reconfiguring knowledge of mind and body, from "microgenesis" to "quantum consciousness." A rare book that fits general reader as much as professional and student.
"An important and pioneering book. . . ."_Michael Murphy, author
Deane Juhan, formerly an Esalen trainer, lectures nationally and abroad and practices bodywork in Mill Valley.
Customer Reviews:
A Wonderful Informative Book.......2007-05-13
This is a terrific book for anyone interested in exploring the human body. It's good on the details and good on the big picture. It's a fascinating and revealing reference work on the workings of the human body.
Review of Job's Body: A Handbook for Bodywork by Deane Juhan.......2007-03-29
For anyone interested in anatomy and physiology or alternatives to medicines alone this is a wonderful book to read and reference. It gives some excellent insights into healing by touch and bodywork a must for al types of therapists.
essential.......2006-09-09
this work is an essential addition to any practitioner's library who wishes to markedly enhance their understanding and communication of care to their patients. Juhan uses brilliant, in-depth scientific notation in an easy-to-read format. brilliant.
Complex, Eye Opening, Vital.......2006-06-15
If you are a doctor, physical therapist, massage or bodywork therapist of any kind with an appetite for in depth analysis and understanding of the human response to touch, this book is a MUST HAVE for you. It's technical and detailed, and it is also ground breaking, eye-opening and very exciting.
Juhan covers the topic of the human response to touch from the micro-cellular level through to system responses all the way to the origins of the body/mind split in western philosphy and the consequences of pharmaceutical dominance in health care on touch therapies. He introduces many new perspectives that bring a rich vitality to anatomy. He shows the interactivity - the interconnectedness - the interdependence of all aspects of the human body, mind and being. He presents some of the latest theories about how the body mind are integrated and communicate - Candace Pert's molecules of emotion.
Not only is Juhan's research fascinating and valuable to body workers, but also his method of inquiry, the questions he asks, and how he asks and seeks to answer them, are also very educational - modeling ways we can pursue the investigation ourselves.
Here are a few examples of the kind of insight that Juhan offers in the Third Edition:
Page 17
"This personal, sensory engagement with the self does not spring from a rebellion against scientific authority, but rather from a realization of the present inadequacy of that authority's conception of reality, a realization that is not contrived for the purpose of debate, but which is forced upon [us] by [our] own painful circumstances."
"When the conceptions of reality that we maintain do not square with the things we are experiencing, it is not because we are flawed or because our experiences are wrong, but because our conceptions cannot contain all of the facts as we perceive them. And there is no constructive way out of this crisis but to enlarge our sense of reality to include our actual experiences."
Page 142
"The goal of bodywork should not be to impose universalized standards of posture and movement upon an individual, but rather to help the individual to cultivate the mental awareness and the physical flexibility to continually adapt to the changing needs of the moment."
Page 184
"Muscles that have fallen into disuse and flaccidity just don't provide enough pumping action for these intercellular fluids to adequately feed and bathe the nerve cells, and so the general strength of their functions is diminished."
Page 412
"Subjective and objective are not two distinct ways I have of viewing reality; they are two sides of a continuous feedback loop which together make up that reality. How completely I sense my body and how I feel about it has everything to do with the particular course of events going on within it."
Job's Body: A Handbook for Bodywork.......2005-09-22
A bit on the technical side for other than those familiar within the medical field, but would strongly advise reading Job's Body for insight and learning about one's own self. A learning experience definately.

re: AWESOME!.......2007-09-04
This book is amazing!!! My aunt recommended it to me. She is a healer and has always talked to me about cords and chakras, but I never fully understood how it all fits together until now. This book is incredible. It explains scientifically, spiritually, emotionally how it all works energy wise, and I am learning and continuing to learn so much. Truly amazing, and I highly recommend this book!!!
Light Emerging.......2007-08-11
This book is changing my life what i needed next highly recommend it
good seller thank you
Light Emerging : The Journey of Personal Healing.......2006-03-16
I have not begun to read this book yet, but it came highly recommended by other spiritual healers.
Amazing Stuff.......2006-02-17
This book is chock full of amazing things. Reads easily. Many applicable exercises for the every day person.
Another follow up book.......2005-01-28
I read Emerging Light with some high expectations, having read Hands of Light. This book was a dissapointment to me. It seems that Barbara followed the path of "I wrote one successful book, therefore I can cash in one the craze" that many authors do. There wasn't a lot of really relevant information here, though a few tidbits here and there. When she discusses the cords it didn't seems anywhere near as accurate as when Mark Rich writes about them in Energetic Anatomy. The part about the core star isn't anything I had ever heard of and didn't really resonate with me much. I think sticking with Hands of Light is probably a better idea.
Book Description
From an internationally-known expert in child health, here is a dramatically new approach to caring for premature babies--and a wonderful new role for parents. Filled with information about the special needs of fragile newborns and illustrated with step-by-step photos.
Customer Reviews:
Kangaroo care is five stars.......2006-07-09
Kangaroo care is an excellent book for people with preemee's. It takes you through all the aspects of what is happening during the first few days or months of your young ones life. Nothing is left to the imagination.
Thoroughly covers its topic.......2006-07-08
Upon reading this book, one finds that it's very clear the author is extremely supportive of the use of Kangaroo Care to cure just about whatever may ail your premature baby. Despite the repetitiveness of this, the book is chock-full of just about everything you'd need to know about Kangaroo Care.
I also found it was quite informative in the realm of not only the care of preemies (and their signs of distress/contentment), but of full-term infants as well. So, if you're wondering how best to help your small and/or sick baby in the NICU, or are wondering just what benefits the act of such skin-to-skin contact can bring to both you and your full-term newborn, the book is a very good--and helpful--read.
Great book.......2006-06-30
I bought this book while expecting our daughter, who we know will have to spend a fair amount of time in the NICU. I had never heard of the concept before, and after reading the book, am convinced that it is a wonderful concept and I can't wait to try it!
Beyond proven!.......2004-09-04
I discovered this book in January, 1995, when it was very little known. My son was born 8 weeks premature in a Honolulu, hospital that had never heard of Kangaroo Care. He was transferred to NICU at a military hospital after 11 days so I never did the KC there, but I did pass my book on to my son's neonatologist in hopes that this would be available for future parents/premies. I did KC as often as I was able at the military hospital and my son came off all meds and monitors 3 wks after his early birth. All he had to do was gain weight. He come home a mere 4 weeks after his birth, and 4 weeks before he original due date! I continued to Kangaroo him at home, all day long some days and he gained so fast it was miraculous!
Two and a half years later I gave birth to a full term daughter but used KC again because, "it couldn't hurt" and we never suffered those backwards hours that newborns have and I bounced back faster after this birth because I was resting more. Kangaroo Care is worth buying, in fact buy two so you will still have one when you pass one on!! :-)
For more than premies.......2003-03-13
Our full-term (37wk) son was in the NICU due to a birth defect. This method was explained to us as we started to be able to hold him and I was trying to teach him to nurse. All I can say is IT WORKS. He was able to go home at 6 wks when we were told he would probably be in for than 3 mos. min. When you think about it it makes sense...this baby was inside you and close to you for however many months you carried him/her. Don't you think dropping the child in a "box" with no human contact would be a shock to the system? I think that "normal" babies could probably benefit from this too. Lord willing, I'll get a chance to prove my theory. :-)
Book Description
Quantum-Touch teaches ways to focus and amplify life-force energy (chi) through simple breathing and body awareness exercises. The result stimulates the subject’s biological intelligence to do whatever healing it deems necessary in everything from major immune disorders to chronic pain to emotional disturbances. In Supercharging Quantum-Touch, prominent teacher Alain Herriott takes students and followers of Quantum-Touch beyond the basics, sharing the techniques used by the best, most effective practitioners.
From the hundreds of workshops he’s conducted around the world, Herriott has gathered questions that he addresses here in a direct way that refines, clarifies, broadens, and deepens the work. The book begins by walking readers through the basic attributes of the best practitioners. Bit by bit, more techniques are added and “stacked” or laid out to create a step-by-step approach to work on anything a client needs, including (though not limited to) general pain, physical imbalances, and emotional issues. Strategies for perceiving energy more clearly are also included. Written in a very accessible style, Supercharging Quantum-Touch gives readers the confidence they need to work in this increasingly popular—and important—healing art.
Customer Reviews:
Not sure yet.......2007-09-07
this book seems very easy to read however it is the second of two for Quatum touch. I have ordered the first and will be able to tell more after that one.
a lot of material.......2007-08-04
I started to read through the entire book but had to go back and 'digest each little piece, bit by bit, in order to fully learn and take in each part. This book is so chocked full of enriching exercises that build upon each other, that you must practice and learn each piece before moving to the next to fully assimilate what you have read. The 'color meditation' is so simple yet effective that I faithfully practice it morning and night. After a short period of time doing the color meditation, my once-high blood pressure has returned to normal levels without medication! The 'unan pattern' is a simple yet highly effective way to ramp up the techniques learned in the first Quantum Touch book. I highly recommend this book to everyone that has been practicing basic QT.
Truths to make us whole.......2007-07-31
I have studied many different energy modalities for 22 years, and I can't thank Alain, Mary Derr and Richard Gordon enough for their input regarding the wonderful life transforming methods Alain teaches in such a kind, generaous, supportive manner. I am impressed by the clarity and simplicity Alain uses to share such life changing methods of balancing the body physically, emotionally and spiritually. Beautifully illustrated, easy to follow. The pages of this book unfold effortly, smoothly as they impart truths to make us whole again.
great workbook.......2007-06-10
book is fantastic and the info is priceless if your are into energy get it but first get "Quantum touch" I am surprised that i had to be the first to write a review???/

Customer Reviews:
Not the best advise!.......2007-03-21
I will admit that I did not read this entire book, but the part that I did read (which made me promptly put down the book) was the part about how you can even ride a horse while wearing your baby in a sling. I have a horse and I've been riding since I'm a little girl and that has to be the dumbest and most dangerous idea I have ever heard!!! That section of the book made me question the authors judgement and I certainly didn't want to hear what else she had to say.
The Best Book for Anyone and Everyone who Care for Infants and Toddlers!.......2007-01-19
The book opens with a brief biography of the author, and her into medical school and to babywearing. Then the book is organized into every style of cloth carrier, where to buy, how to make, what to use and of course- detailed directions to using them (with pics!) (With instructions for adapting carries for newborns to 2-3 year olds!)
I strongly reccommend this book for all new mums, dads, nannies, grandparents- EVERYONE who will be caring for a little one.
Excellent resource.......2006-10-29
I got this book because I am new to babywearing and there are countless suggestions, websites, and insights from other parents on which carriers work well.
Well worth the money!
Absolute best!.......2006-10-22
What a wonderful resource for parents wanting to bond with their children. I am a mother of 7 and an advocate of babywearing/breastfeeding and this book is a must-have for any new or prospective parent. Great baby shower idea: give this book and a gift certificate for their choice of baby carrier...they'll thank you from the bottom of their hearts!
A Must for New Parents.......2006-04-06
At last, a book that combines well-documented information about the physical and emotional benefits of keeping your baby close along with practical instructions on how to actually use those tricky wraps and slings. This is the book I wish I had before my first child was born. Great photos remind the reader that babywearing is not just for able-bodied moms--moms in wheelchairs, dads and other caregivers can all put on a sling or carrier and give that baby the unconditional love and affection she needs to thrive. A perfect gift for any expecting parent.

reference book at its finest.......2006-12-05
This book is so full of great information that it is a definite keeper in my reference library. After only 1/3 of the way though, I've gotten my money's worth!
Wonderful Handbook.......2006-10-13
I'm new at reading about energy healing modalities, so I have little to compare it to. I found this book to be a really nice book to learn more about Healing Touch and how to be a practitioner. It has some wonderful stories, some that even made me cry. I still have a long way to go to make this work for me, but it's the beginning of a new awareness in my life.
Superb resource for all involved with Healing Touch.......2003-05-04
An excellent, readable, knowledgeable text book that will be referred to again and again. It contains so much information, and is indexed accurately so that you can find the relevant answers quickly. Diagrams are informative and useful.
To me this book is recommended for those already practicing H.T., or for those interested in gaining insight into Healing Touch with a view to entering the H.T. program. The Healing Touch program encourages people to participate in continued, life-long learning, and this book is a valuable resource.
Absoluttely essential resource for any "hands-on" healer........1999-03-29
No need for 1,000 more words. The above says it all. I loaned my copy to a client, forgot which one, and now must buy another. Can't practice without it.

Accepting Your Power to Heal.......2001-05-04
Therapeutic Touch involves using your hands to heal all living beings by "consciously directing or sensitively modulating human energies." It doesn't require physical contact. Therapeutic Touch is based on several principles, two of which are "illness is an imbalance in an individual's energy field" and "human beings have natural abilities to transform and transcend their conditions of living."
Therapeutic Touch was developed and refined by Dr. Dolores Krieger and Dora Kunz, based on their studies of ancient healing practices. They've since taught the procedure to thousands of health care practitioners and laypersons.
Dr. Krieger's book, Accepting Your Power to Heal: The Personal Practice of Therapeutic Touch, teaches readers how help themselves and their loved ones with Therapeutic Touch. The process involves "centering" yourself, then becoming sensitive to the energy fields all living beings have.
Therapeutic Touch can be used to help people relax, to reduce pain, and accelerate healing. Dr. Krieger provides numerous examples of benefits, including relief from the pain of cancer, headaches, burns, and fractured bones. Therapeutic Touch is also helpful to pregnant women and people suffering from chronic conditions like asthma. Some people have also used it to help their pets, while others have used it in their gardens.
Accepting Your Power to Heal has been on the book stands for several years. The method outlined in it has been proven time and again to be beneficial to people suffering from various illnesses, including AIDS. Readers "who are committed to helping or healing persons in need" will find it to be an invaluable resource.

Customer Reviews:
Poorly written.......2001-05-19
I've used this book in some of my Reiki training classes, and though the information is good, it is badly in need of editing. I've also learned, since reading some of Frank Arjava Petter's books, that Mitchell's history of Reiki is not entirely accurate.
It is amateurishly written and edited, though I have found much of the information useful.
One of the best books on Reiki.......2000-07-10
One of the better books on the healing methods of traditional Reiki, written by Master-Teacher Karyn Mitchell, Ph.D., N.D., of the Hawayo Takata-Iris Ichitaro lineage. The author is a Doctor of Naturopathy, a psychologist, and certified teacher of hypnotherapy, as well as a Reiki Practitioner and Master-Teacher of Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki and Tera Mai Reiki.
When my guides called me to take the Reiki training, I didn't even know what it was. They just kept hammering at me to "DO THIS THING". I set out to find out just what Reiki was all about. I read about a dozen books on Reiki, but this one book stood out. It was basic, clearly written, pragmatic yet with recognition of the more esoteric aspects of Reiki. Karyn has written several other books on Reiki, but this was her first and remains the introductory text for her Reiki classes.
I was ecstatic to discover that Master Karyn lives within driving distance of my home in suburban Chicago. I immediately called her and enrolled in the Level 1 training. I subsequently took Levels II and III from her also.
Karyn Mitchell and her husband, Steve, who is also a Reiki Master-Teacher and a Crystal Healing Teacher (certified by "Melody"), can be reached at: Haven Center for Healing & Education 603 Geneva Road, St. Charles, IL 60174 phone: 815-732-7150 email: Mitchell@essex1.com
Namaste!
Invaluable to those on the path!.......1999-08-06
This book is a wonderful read as well as a reference for various meditations and Reiki knowledge. I bought it when it first came out and still keep it handy near my Reiki table. Karyn inspired me to move ahead on my path to healing others through Reiki. I also am blessed to have met Karyn and have experienced Reiki treatments though her, before buying this book. Her love/light energy shines though this vehicle as if you were in her presence. A true work of love and Reiki energy! Karyn lives what she teaches.
Most Practical Approach To Learning and Teaching Reiki.......1999-03-24
Karyn's approach to the subject is phenomenial. I was first invited into the subject by her personal warmth and sincerity. You can actually feel her spirit! She doesn't waste words, but gets right to the essentials of the healing art/gift. Emphasis is placed on demonstrating a simple and practical technique of Reiki. Drawings and photos of hand positions help to make this a much needed reference for students and teachers alike. Karyn takes you from Reiki 1 to Reiki Master/Teacher, explaining the experience of each level and the steps leading to them. A curriculum for the instruction of each level is provided. As a Reiki Master/Teacher, I highly recommend this book to both students and teachers.
