Demons and Deliverance: In The Ministry Of Jesus (Spiritual Warfare Series)
ASIN: 0883683245 |
Book Description
Do you know how Satan can use "doorways" including yoga, role-playing games, and meditation, to bring demonic destruction into your home? In this spiritual warfare manual, Rebecca Brown writes from seven years experience helping deliver many people out of hardcore satanism. In this sequel to her best-selling book He Came to Set the Captives Free, you will learn to stand victoriously against Satan, deal with the dangerous New Age teachings, recognize and deal with satanic ritualistic abuse of children, minister in the area of deliverance, and handle the rarely discussed problems people face after deliverance. Satan hates you and wants to destroy you. To be victorious you must Prepare for War.

Not a credible account -- do research on the author.......2007-08-20
I have read this book several times and have written to the author to get her story as well. The author's real name is Ruth Bailey, who had her medical license revoked in the state of Indiana. She also got in trouble with the medical board for giving her patients an unusually high dose of Demerol, for having delusions about patients suffering from demonic oppression, and for repeatedly misdiagnosing her patients. The real "Elaine" has been known to fabricate sensational stories to get attention (All these findings have been documented by Bob and Gretchen Passantino and researcher John Baskette in the Answers in Action website, Pastor Charles Younts - Director of Missions, and Pastor G. Richard Fisher). If you Google: Rebecca Brown or Ruth Bailey, you'll find the links to these investigative articles.
I am in no way a Satanist (but a born-again believer in Christ who is vehemently opposed to Satanism). The author claims that her account is factual, and it is important for readers like me to determine whether her findings are factual and to discern truth from error. After doing research on her background and reading through her book, I came to the conclusion that much of what she wrote is fabricated.
Rebecca Brown may have pointed out some helpful principles on spiritual warfare, but her story about herself and "Elaine" are purely fictional.
I have read numerous credible accounts (written by Christian evangelical authors) on Satanism and would highly recommend books by Clinton Arnold on demons and spiritual warfare. C. Fred Dickason has published helpful studies on Demon Possession and the Christian. Bob and Gretchen Passantino has also written a carefully researched guide on Satanism on the Zondervan Guide to the Cults series. Another great study on Satan and demons is Powers of Evil by Sydney Page. All these authors are much better authorities on Satan and spiritual warfare.
The Bible tells us to "test all things; hold fast to what is good" (1 Thess. 5:21 NKJV). It is important to research the qualifications of the author to see if she is a credible authority. Unfortunately in this case, Rebecca Brown is not. The good book tells us "Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead expose them" (Eph. 5: 11). As for Rebecca Brown, she will do well to heed Prov. 19:5 (NKJV), "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who tells lies will not escape." Please carefully do your own research and discern the truth from falsehood.
Extrememly Beneficial.......2007-06-26
I have read this book many times and the Lord recently led me to pick it up again. I must say that pg. 66-67 is an answer to prayer and was a huge encouragement for a friend of mine helping her lead someone to Christ.I have found the book scripturally sound and I really appreciate Ms. Brown's boldness. Bottom line is, Jesus said a bad tree cannot produce good fruit, and a good tree cannot produce bad fruit. Her books have produced excellent fruit in my life, and several of my friends lives who I have lent the books to.

helpful.......2007-05-14
I am really glad I have "stumbled" across this book. It has helped me in understanding spiritual warfare and given me some insight in my own life. Rebecca Brown is very easy to understand and for everything she relies on scripture and her own experiences. I don't think you can get any more real than that.

Its war time.......2006-10-12
This book is a good tool for deliverance ministry.
It was a slow start due to the story telling but it helped to set the stage. Not only was there life application but also profound insight into the spiritual realm. I enjoyed the book and read it in no time!
Book Description
This is the fourth and final volume in a pioneering series on the Chinese military. It begins with an examination of Chinese military culture and history, with special attention to the transition from Mao Zedong's revolutionary doctrine and the conflict with Moscow to Beijing's preoccupation with Taiwanese separatism and preparations for war to thwart it. Because such a war might involve the United States, the Chinese have concentrated on measures to deter American intervention. Part II focuses on the military and decision making, first in the National Command Authority and then in the People's Liberation Army's command-and-control prioritizing system. Part III provides a detailed study of the Second Artillery, China's strategic rocket forces. Based in part on interviews, the book provides an unprecedented look at its history, operational structure, modernization, and strategy. This is followed by a historical account of the air force's long effort to modernize and its role in joint operations and air defense. The book concludes with the transformation of military strategy and shows how it is being tested in military exercises with Taiwan and the United States as “imagined enemies."

A very good book for one with some background.......2003-01-05
This volume tells a very important part of the story of the Japanese Army and its part in dragging the nation into a catastrophic war. It is well and clearly written and generally quite strong in its sources. It is not the first book one should read about interwar Japan and its march to war, since it really does not present a rounded view of Japanese politics and the army as an institution. But for someone who understands the general background, it is fascinating and useful.
One caution: in common with many books written by specialists in Japanese history, it presents a very distorted picture of the mindset and actions of the Roosevelt administration. The central problem is an implicit assumption that Japan was the central concern when in fact its importance to FDR and his lieutenants lay in its relationship to the problem of Hitler. Deprived of this context, the actions of the administration are truly inexplicable.

HEARD ABOUT BOOK VIA ART BELL RADIO SHOW. ONE THING: DID NOT KNOW AS AUTHOR CLAIMED, THAT 1994 CRIME CONTROL ACT OF CONGRESS FORBADES HOARDING MORE THAN A 6 MONTH SUPPLY OF FOOD. AUTHOR WELL LEARNED, ARTICULATE AND WELL ABOVE GROUND, IN CLEAR THINKING; RICH IN PRACTICAL ADVICE. THIS IS A SUPER BOOK.
The all-in-one #1 book; easy to read and 100% practical.......1999-07-30
I loved all the hints and practicality of this book, it was full of pictures and charts and other resources.
a guide on how to survive a nuclear attack........1999-01-07
This is the first book that I have read, that covers all phases of surviving a nuclear attack. It is the authors view that the chances of a surprise attack has actually increased since the end of of the Cold War. But he clearly shows that it is quit possible to survive an attack. The book is not politically correct, making it enjoyable to read and study.

Virgil Thomson: Four Saints In Three Acts
ASIN: 0520223535 |
Amazon.com
This crisp and accessible work offers both a penetrating reconstruction of the 1934 American productions of Gertrude Stein and Virgil Thomson's modernist opera Four Saints in Three Acts and a delightful study of an unprecedented artistic collaboration--involving not only Stein and Thomson, but a large cast of supporting characters. From arbiters of taste like Carl Van Vechten to the society hostess Mabel Dodge Luhan to the plucky, well-connected band of Harvard-trained art professionals who eventually set "the course of 'official' modernist culture in America's most prestigious institutions for nearly half a century," Steven Watson tracks the improbable development of an audience for a quintessentially American opera that happened to be set in Spain, peopled by nuns and saints, and staged with an all-black cast performing an incoherent story in front of combustible sets. Along the way, Watson illuminates the larger history of modernism in Paris and New York between the wars, as well as many smaller histories, like the growth of museums in America and the influence of high bohemia on the worlds of fashion and design. --Regina Marler
Book Description
Perhaps the oddest and most influential collaboration in the history of American modernism was hatched in 1926, when a young Virgil Thomson knocked on Gertrude Stein's door in Paris. Eight years later, their opera Four Saints in Three Acts became a sensation--the longest-running opera in Broadway history to date and the most widely reported cultural event of its time. Prepare for Saints is Steven Watson's brilliant and absorbing account of how that revolutionary opera was born.
Customer Reviews:
Fascinating cultural history.......2001-03-22
I came to this book hoping to learn about the creation and production of Stein's opera, and I was not disappointed. I thought the book delivered that information, and more. Watson writes well, and he tells a fascinating story of the complicated network of interpersonal relationships that were finally led this unlikely opera into production. I think Watson understands the nature of Stein's as well as anybody, although the focus of the book was not on the way the opera was written. He manages to express the way that all the participants were inspired by Stein's words in different ways, the "miracle" of their all having "to create and all of them did."
Opera is used as a hook for a less saleable topic.......2000-05-06
This is a meandering, disappointing, misleadingly titled book. Clearly the author wanted to write a book about the Harvard modernists and their era, including exploring "Negro chic" and the homosexual culture of the period. This would be a harder sell as a mass-circulation book, and hence the device of recruiting FOUR SAINTS as a distillation of the world he is interested in.
But the result is that one does not get enough of anything, and too much of what you didn't buy the book for. Chick Austin, Muriel Draper, and the others may have provided physical settings relevant to the gestation of FOUR SAINTS, but they did not CREATE the piece. As such, the lingering over their particular biographies is excessive in a book purportedly devoted to the birth of the opera. Too often we get lists of celebrities present at this gathering or another, complete with fawning descriptions of what they were wearing and how they decorated their rooms -- but this stems from a fan's love of a period, not a chronicling of FOUR SAINTS itself.
Thus while we read through elegant page after page gushing about Mrs. Harrison Williams and Lucius Beebe, by the end we have little idea of what went on on stage in the opera, what more than a few of the lyrics were, or how the music sounded. If it is vital for us to know how Julien Levy founded his art gallery blow by blow, why so little info on black theatre in New York before and after FOUR SAINTS? Why spend a paragraph following up on, say, Alfred Barr after SAINTS but only brief mention of what happened to any of the SAINTS cast members? This is a book about art museums mispackaged as one about the theatre.
This book is a bit of a cynical hoax. You can just feel the editor "shaping" a book about largely forgotten arts administrators and critics, the parties they went to, who they slept with, and how openly, via hanging it all on an opera which fascinates in legend because of combining a black cast with Gertrude Stein's lyrics. In the end, this book is a collection of well-written personality sketches of pictorial artists and their patrons. The author clearly has but subsidiary interest in music or theatre -- fatal in a book purporting to be about an opera.
More gossip than information.......1999-04-27
For those who know little or nothing about the Gertrude Stein/Virgil Thompson opera "Four Saints in Three Acts," this book will provide some basic information. Those searching for any kind of in depth analysis either of the libretto or the music will be disappointed, as I was. Long on the sexual preferences of the members of the 1930's modernist elite, short on any discussion of a landmark work of art. Listen to the original cast album instead.

The need for a Military Draft is a magnificent book that is just in time for the reader to prepare for the onset of a possible reinstatement of the military draft. In The Need for a Military Draft, Hod presents the realistic aspects of a possible military draft. This book systematically introduces the reader to the Selective Service System and how conscription will work. The book allows the reader many options that may have not been given to them before they read this momentous work. Many people disagree with the authors' research into the selective service system, but one must take their hat off to Hod for him having the nuts to put this information together in an easily readable and understandable way. Hod takes the reader through the events that would occur should the draft be reinstated and ends the work with an added flair for the reader that goes side ways with its breath taking segment on the concept of language and scientific racism. The Need for a Military Draft, prepare to see the world is a play on words and incites the reader to trust that Hod wants the draft to be reinstated. But, why would a man who claims to be an insightful man see clear to want a draft to be reinstated in America? After reading the work, one will see what Hod explains his reasons for forecasting the possibility of the reinstatement of the draft. Totally a waste of money and time.......2007-03-05
This publication should be removed from public view! Many of the referenced figures and appendicies are missing and in general the book presents no opinion or evidence to support or refute the draft should be reinstated or not. A TOTAL WASTE OF MY MONEY AND TIME!
Don't Waste Your Time and Money.......2005-08-27
This book rates a one only because negative numbers aren't available. To its credit, it has a wonderful promotional blurb and authors who exhibit a Herculean audacity in foisting literary rubbish on the unsuspecting public. Beyond these "positives", the book represents a collection of government documents readily available to anyone with web access. The only addition comes in the tortured syntax, misspelling, and incomprehensible rants that comprise the authors' original material before and after these documents. To be honest, this is the first book I have ever regretted buying.
The incisive argumentation and helpful structure promised by the promo blurb do not exist apart from the internal structure of the government documents that comprise more than 90 percent of the book. What the "producers" of this text add fails to make even their own points let alone elucidate any nuanced meanings in the documents they reproduce.
The first 24 pages of this book are a jumble of words and images that only seem to have order for the authors and perhaps their initiates. If you want to admire pictures of King Kamehameha I "the Black God of Hawaii" you're in for a treat. This is the section for you. There's also a nice Buddhist chant, some shout outs to friends, and an anti-war letter from a "Revered" (Reverend?) to the President.
The mental torture that awaits any foolish reader is clearly evident in what the "producers" call an abstract:
"I am bestowing upon the reader my premise (there will be a draft soon) in such a way that the reader will not ponder what I am trying to accomplish. There has been provided a principal (sic), a basic truth or general law or doctrine (SSS) that is used as my basis for reasoning. A position or (advantageous line) has been followed that has allowed me to arrange my point(s) in an orderly fashion. A clear postulate (To assume or assert the truth, reality, or necessity of, especially as a basis of an argument) has been formed to give the reader a clear picture of what I am presenting. Thus, the author shall have presented his perspective, (that art of drawing solid objects on a flat surface so as to give the reader an impression of the relative position, and size of the idea in such a way that the reader will have a clear-formed understanding of the Selective Service System after reading the manual (p. 24).
Where would we mere mortals be without such useful definitions? Note the haphazard address of the apparent thesis? However, the introduction immediately follows on page 25 in order to help us further:
"This handbook is intended to assist you in understanding the SSS (Selective Service System) and the concept of a possible military draft. I have researched and compiled this handbook because of the outrageous amount of misunderstanding and misinformation that I have heard possible draft dodgers, patriots, and cowards speaking of recently. Furthermore, the alleged gangsters, blatant disrespectful (continuous use of the term n****r) 'punk bitches (guys) whom masquerade as members of gangster organizations.' These people cross all so called races, religions, and income levels and moved me to push the reinstatement of the draft. I hear these large talking (Bi-Sexual Thug types) talking (sic) about how they will not fight in the advent of a draft. These people do not say that they will not fight for religious or political beliefs. These folk's cowards (and you know who I am talking about) say they will not fight because they are literally scared. Do not be scared now. You were not scared when you were talking about shooting unarmed citizens and all that you get from your programming. Have not you geniuses who push the concept of being gangsters ever heard of the RICO Statutes? I can not believe the ignorance of you fools pushing the gangster images and even professing to be gangsters. Have you not the understanding that the Federal Marshals and FBI watch you for years until you have been indicted and then you are arrested. Think fool! Ok, go and get your basic training when the day comes and go see the folks who the President wills you to see! You're quick to pull a gun on the streets (Nigger Hollering) New Klan Member! Now take your ass to see whom the President has for you." Note: I double-checked my typing...the errors in punctuation, grammar, logic, and understanding are accurately reproduced.
With that clear outline of where the reader is headed, the book moves without further discussion into 162 pages of government documents to which few modifications have been made and to which virtually no explanation will be provided. This is followed by 17 pages excerpted from a term paper discussing language and conflict. However, most of this section is bibliography. These 179 pages offer virtually no explanation to explain their purpose or connection to one another. Certainly, there is no obvious argument to support the view that the U.S. will soon reinstitute the draft. In several of the reprints, it appears that the "producers" expect us to see hidden meanings thanks to their italicizing material. However, the only message underscored is that the government needs people to accomplish its mission. The section on language frequently employs "n*****s" and other derogatory terminology with little success in connecting the dots between language and conflict.
The big finale of the book follows with thanks to friends, and a reference from the "Cabalistic Encyclopedia" which presumably links the producers to God. Their original material closes this section with a threat to "those whom for the last Eleven years have hounded me with false claims and wrong charges against me in the State of Washington you are now given a warning, (understand this is not a threat)! Should you not choose the righteous way of handling the dispute that I have made a gallant attempt to settle for some time now. I promise I will put each of you on blast" (p. 207).
As an added bonus for those who persevere in their reading, the book concludes with a "bonus" section with 15 more pages of lightly edited reprints from the Selective Service. Suddenly, on page 225 appears a snippet of support for the idea of a new draft. It is drawn from a neo-conservative website. It's one page with no development, conclusion, or even apparent connection to the rest of the text. Finally, the reader is treated to five pages of promotion for another book by the "producers."

Soldier's Study Guide.......2000-10-11
My husband joined the Army National Guard and he read the book cover to cover. He thought is was an excellent way to learn the rules of the military before basic training. It helped prepare him for the future and to know what is expected of a soldier. Anyone joining any branch of the military should read this book first.
