Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Discovering the Mysteries of Ancient America: Lost History And Legends, Unearthed And Explored
ASIN: 2913621066 |
Product Description
`History: Fiction or Science? Chronology 2` is the second volume of the most explosive and astounding tractate on history ever written - however, every theory it contains, no matter how unorthodox, is backed by rock solid scientific data. The book is easy and pleasant to read; it is well-illustrated, contains hundreds of charts, graphs and illustrations, copies of ancient manuscripts, and countless facts attesting to the falsity of the chronology used nowadays. You will be amazed to discover: - That the chronology universally accepted today and taken for granted is simply wrong; - That ALL methods of dating of ancient sources and artefacts known today are erroneous or non-exact; - That there is not a single document that could be reliably dated earlier than the XIth century; The Author refers to the Middle Ages as the Antiquity and proves mutual superimposition of the Second and the Third Roman Empire, both of which become identified as the respective kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Furthermore, he asserts that the famous reform of the Occidental Church in the XI century by Pope Gregory Hildebrand was the reflection of the XII century reforms of Byzantine emperor Andronicus who in his turn identifies with Jesus Christ. The Trojan war counted by Homer happened only as late as of the XIII century A.D. and the great poet actually lived in XIV century A.D. No stone in history of Antiquity is left unturned. Literally. This book is the beginning of a major correction to the chronology we live with.

I don't care what other people say of this book. Those affirmig it's fake, they hadn't ever read it. Or have some special reasons to do so. "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see..." This book won't make you feel comfortable. It'll make you feel free. It'll make you feel you're "not the only one" to feel you'd been lied to for centuries.
Suprise! Suprise!.......2007-03-22
Here is a serie of books which turns "the whole world" upside down. I learned a lot of it and I hope that a new book from A.T. Fomenko will follow very quick. A absolute must for everybody who is interested in history or even a little bit from it.
Prescient St Augustine?.......2006-02-05
We can so far divide the New Chronology into the following three parts:
a) The verifiable theory that proves consensual chronology wrong with the aid of astronomy, statistics and mathematics;
b) The new chronology hypothesis based on a new understanding of known historical facts and the most likely logical explanation of the most obvious inconsistencies inherent in the official version of history;
c) The history conjectures, that is experimental historical reconstructions based on assumptions that the authors believe to make sense in the light of their research and linguistic parallels - void of ironclad factual support to date.
Fomenko's theory complies with the most rigid scientific standards as a whole:
It gives a coherent explanation of what we already know.
- It is consistent: independent lines of inquiry all lead to the same conclusion.
- The predictions it makes are confirmed empirically.
Fomenko goes by the following axioms:
- Chronology is the basis of history;
- Human evolution has always been linear, gradual and irreversible;
- The "cyclic" nature of human civilization is a myth, likewise all the gaps, duplicates, "dark ages" and "renaissances" that we know from consensual history;
- The accumulation of geographical knowledge as reflected in cartography is a gradual and irreversible process;
- The chronological distance between a given manuscript and the events described therein is proportional to the amount of distortions it contains;
- There is no "useless" information in authentic ancient sources.
Why the mainstream historians do not shower mathematician Academician Dr.Prof Fomenko with thanks and laurels?
The Russians:
Because Fomenko asserts that there was no such thing as the Tartar and Mongol invasion followed by three centuries of slavery, providing a formidable body of documental evidence to prove his assertion. The so-called "Tartars and Mongols" were the actual ancestors of the modern Russians, living in a bilingual state with Arabic spoken as freely as Russian. The ancient Russian state was governed by a double structure of civil and military authorities. The hordes were actually professional armies with a tradition of lifelong conscription (the recruitment being the so-called "blood tax"). Their "invasions" were punitive operations against the regions that attempted tax evasion. Fomenko proves that Russian history as we know it today is a blatant forgery concocted by a host of German scientists brought to Russia by the usurper dynasty of the Romanovs, whose ascension to the throne was the result of coup d'état, charged with the mission of making their reign look legitimate. Fomenko proves Ivan the Terrible to be a collation of four rulers, no less. They represented the two rival dynasties - the legitimate rulers and the ambitious upstarts. The winner took it all! Over some 30 years of controversy, Russian historians have made a most remarkable transition - they were initially accusing the young mathematician Fomenko of anticommunist dissident activity and attempts to deface the historical legacy of Soviet Russia; nowadays the middle-aged mathematician is accused of adhering to "pro-communist Russian nationalism" and defacing the proud historical legacy of Great Russia.
The Westerners:
Because Fomenko blows consensual Russian history to smithereens, successfully removing a crucial cornerstone from underneath the otherwise impeccable edifice of World History. Fomenko adds insult to injury, wiping out one by one the Ancient Rome (the foundation of Rome in Italy is dated to the XIV century A. D.), the Ancient Greece and its numerous poleis, which he identifies as the mediaeval crusader settlements on the territory of Greece, and the Ancient Egypt (the pyramids of Giza become dated to the XI-XV century A. D. and identified as the royal cemetery of the Global "Mongolian" Empire, no less). The civilization of the Ancient Egypt is irrefutably dated to the XII-XV century A. D. with the aid of the ancient Egyptian horoscopes cut in stone. He was the first one to decipher and date all such horoscopes, coming up with mediaeval dates in every case. English historians rage at the suggestion that the history of Ancient England was de facto a Byzantine import transplanted to the English soil by the fugitive Byzantine nobility. To reward the English historians who consider themselves the true scribes of World History, the cover of the present book portrays Tintoretto's Jesus Christ crucified on the Big Ben.
The Chinese:
Because Fomenko wipes out the Ancient History of China outright. No such thing. Full point. The compilation of the so-called Ancient Chinese History is reliably datable to the XVII-XVIII century only. It is perfectly recognizable as the Ancient European history, reworked and transcribed in hieroglyphs as yet another historical transplantation, this time performed on the Chinese soil by the loving Jesuit hands. The Chinese are the next in line to go berserk. Chinese history is inevitably bound to get both more ancient and more eventful, proportionally to the growing involvement of China in the world affairs. Chinese historians will keep on finding valid proof of prehistoric Chinese spaceflights until the Politburo orders them to shut up.
The Arabs:
Too bad. Islam with all its key figures is datable to XV-XVI century A. D. Arabic historians may find consolation in the crucial historical role of the Ottoman Empire in the XVI-XVII century. The trouble is that this empire was initially a Christian state, with Hagia Sophia identifiable as Temple of Solomon, according to Fomenko! We can only guess if the acquisition of Alexander the Great (a Macedonian and a Christian) as the founder of the Muslim World Empire will make Fomenko's theories more acceptable to the Arabic mainstream. He certainly does not spare any holy cows at all, claiming The Stone of Qa'Aba in Mecca to contain the lost Arch of the Covenant.
The Divinity:
Despite of reiterated statement that his theory is all about chronology and not Religion, Fomenko stirs up a whole condominium of wasp nests. His collection of anathemas, fatwa, and other condemnations from all parties concerned is already considerable. Little wonder, considering that the history of religions à la Fomenko looks as follows: the pre-Christian period (before the XI century and JC), Bacchic Christianity (XI-XII century, before and after JC), JC Christianity (XII-XVI century) and its subsequent mutations into Orthodox Christianity, the Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism, and so on.
According to Fomenko we know strictly NOTHING about the events that predate the X century A. D.
St Augustin was prescient when he spoke unto us: "be wary of mathematicians, particularly when they speak the truth."
Something of a disappointment.......2005-09-09
After having read the first volume of this expected series of 7 volumes I was triggered by the thesis of these authors that ancient Greek and Roman history did in fact take place in the Middle Ages. So I started studying medieval history of the Middle East - also known as Islamic history - to find out if the opponents of the ancient Greeks and Romans - the Acheamenid Persians, Sassanids, Scythians, Egyptians, etc. - also have their duplicates in medieval history. My search was disappointing: none of the many medieval Islamic dynasties seemed to correspond to the ancient middle eastern rulers.
However, I did find a close correspondence between Herodotus' Persian kings and medieval events:
- the defeat and capture of an Anatolian king - the Lydian Croesus - by the Persian conqueror Cyrus is identical to the defeat and capture of another Anatolian king - sultan Bayezid - by the Asian/Mongol conqueror Tamerlane;
- the Persian conquest of Egypt by the cruel tyrant Cambyses reds almost exactly as the Ottoman conquest of Egypt by Selim the Grim (note the nickname!);
- Darius the Lawgiver of the Persian Empire looks very much alike to Sulayman the Magnificent, the Lawgiver in Islamic history;
- Xerxes, whose main claim to fame is to be defeated by the Greeks at the naval battle of Salamis, looks like Selim II (the Sot) whose main claim to fame is to be defeated by a Spanish-Italian alliance at the naval battle of Lepanto.
I should have expected Fomenko et al. to arrive at similar conclusions, however, they claim that the Persian kings are the alter egos of the Angevin kings of Sicily whose biographies do not contain the exploits of the Persian kings.
The similiarities I indicate lead to the conclusion that Herodotus must have written his Histories at the close of the 16th century. But this is extremely late, given that Herodotus is "the Father of History", so therefore all other "ancient" histories must have been fabricated even later. Yet, the founders of modern chronology - Scaliger and Petavius - laid their foundations also at the close of the 16th century and had the full corpus of ancient histories already at their disposal.
It seems to me that Fomenko has to address these inconsistencies, maybe in the forthcoming 5 volumes?
Another critique of their book is that the correspondencies between different rulers are often based on a superficial comparison of the biographies; upon a more thorough comparison many details appear that do not correspond at all.
Finally, the authors rely heavily on the works of Gregorovius (1821-1891!!) - his medieval histories of Rome and Athens - as the source of medieval history; these works are - at least in the West - hoplessly outdated and have been superceded by more up-to-date works (for instance, Julius Norwich's trilogy on Byzantine history is not even cited).
Romulus courts Helen, Paris founds Rome, Moses goes to Troy.........2005-07-30
If you agree with Fomenko that Roman chronology is basically the foundation of the entire edifice of global chronology; you would also certainly agree that despite its numerous gaps and inconsistencies, Roman history is the best-documented field of ancient history, and thus a reference scale. But how well is the actual date of the Eternal City's foundation known?
Firstly, Rome is supposed to have been founded by the Trojans who had to flee after the fall of Troy. Some claim Rome to have been founded by Aeneas and Ulysses shortly after Troy had fallen; others are of the opinion that there was an entire dynasty that ruled for 500 years between the fall of Troy and the foundation of Rome.
Well, that's just an innocent 500 years long misunderstanding compared with what heretic Fomenko says, asserts, proves in his second volume: Second Roman Empire, Third Roman Empire, Biblical Kingdom of Israel, Biblical Kingdom of Judah, Holy Roman Empire are stories about basically same events, written from different points of view at different times. The underlying events have actually taken place during xii-xv cy. These histories have been written and perfected by multitude of highly talented humanist and clerical writers of xiii-xvi cy disguised as "ancients" with glorious names like Homer, Pluto, Thucydides etc..Chronology 2.0 beta..
Historians are kindly invited to report the bugs.

For those who like to read Elizabeth Peters, they will also like Doherty's ancient Egyptian mysteries.
A must buy!.......2007-07-30
A worthy effort and commendable addition to the Egyptian series by an author that always manages to deliver excitement in a realistic setting. I have watched for the next segment in this series and was pleased with the well realized characters and believable events. This book held the suspense until the very end. A great read.
strong Ancient Egypt police procedural.......2006-12-16
In 1478 BC Egypt's XVIII Dynasty, Pharaoh Queen Hatusu assigns the Hall of Two Truths Chief Judge Lord Amerotke to investigate the stealing of artifacts from the "Houses of a Million Years" in the Valley of the Nobles. The intruders obviously have insider information as they knew precisely where to go and much about the guards. This makes it easy to kill the patrol and plunder the tombs. Lord Amerotke, his wife Norfret, their two sons (Ahmase and Curfayhas), and his servant Shufoy capture most of the thieves, members of the Sebaus sect; but the leader remains hidden amidst the shadows of the affluent just out of sight.
Mercenaries try to assassinate Amerotke, but he survives their attempt to kill him. Instead he switches inquires from finding the Sebaus leader to investigating the murder of retired General Suten, killed by horned vipers. Evidence points towards the macho military man having releasedthe snakes to prove his courage, but Amerotke finds flaws with that logic and wonders if the victim's wife Lupherna, his scribe Menna and or his valet Heby killed him. Amerotke has another case to investigate involving four young women who have vanished from the Temple of Isis. He finds the connection tying the three cases together but if he is not extremely careful his efforts will lead to a fourth inquiry, headed by someone else, to solve who killed the Chief Judge.
THE ASSASSINS OF ISIS is a fantastic entry in the Ancient Egypt mystery series. The fast-paced story line grips readers from the onset of the Sebaus sect members begin their looting and never slows down until the final twist. The cast is strong especially the hero, but the novel as with the predecessors (see THE MASK OF RA, HORUS KILLING and THE SLAYERS OF SETH), belongs to the background. P.C. Doherty paints a powerful vivid look at Ancient Egypt within a strong police procedural.

Fifth Book in this Entertaining Series.......2006-11-15
Paul Doherty is the consummate professional when it comes to writing historical mystery novels. I for one do not know how he can be so prolific with his offering of books and yet make sure that each of them is well researched. Whether they be 13th, 14th, or fifteenth century they are always true to the period. He has also written books about Alexander the Great and is now turning his hand to novels of Ancient Egypt at the time of the most influential period in its long history.
The tomb of Rahimere, his house of eternity filled with all the things he may need to cross to the other side has been hidden for many years, somewhere deep in the desert. The location of the tomb has long been kept a closely guarded secret. But now a sect know as the Sebaus, who take their name from the demons have not only found the tomb, but plundered it for the powerful secret it holds . . .
These book on Egypt just get better and better and long may Paul Doherty continue to write them. They are both entertaining and also give a wonderful insight into the life of the Ancient Egyptians.

Exactly what I was looking for........2006-01-02
I absolutely love this book! She gives you lots of facts about how the original priests worshiped Isis and then gives you advice on how to use that in a modern way. Oodles of stuff to keep you active like recipes, rituals, great chants, meditations and how to craft your own ritual tools. Truly a great and essential book if you are drawn to Isis and are looking for a way to bring more of Her into your life.
Truely magical in all respects!.......2005-08-23
I absolutely adore this book! It is basically a handbook for Egyptian devotees who have an affinity for Isis as the great Mother. It is well researched but not too scholarly or longwinded like most books on the subject.
Within are charming rituals, recipies for making natron(special bath),ritual tools, how to make a shrine to Isis, healing rites, dinner recipies, virtually everything under the sun about this multi purpose diety! It is all done with great love and devotion to Isis.
It is true there is not much else about the other gods of Egypt but it says right on the cover-Mysteries of Isis! This is all about the great mother, who faithfully answers most cries. I cannot think of any other goddess who was so revered in popular Western society since Roman times. Maybe the virgin Mary? who is really an emanation of Isis. I remember being in Paris at the old Roman site of her temple, now a Christian church. Her presence was still very strong!
It is easy to see how this goddess is so accesible to many, pagan or otherwise. She is truely the springtime of the human heart! Also within is the first incarnation of the scarab oracle. This is a very special connection to the mother for those who cannot hear her soft voice already...
Wonderful for Isis, Terrible for all others.......2003-09-23
In looking for books on Egypt, I had thought this would help. If I was an Isis worshiper, this would have been an invaluable resource in my libary. I recommend this book for all who wish to devote only to Isis.
However, to anyone else looking for information on any other God/dess or Egypt itself, this book is sorely lacking. Osiris, Horus, Re and other male gods were hardly mentioned except in cursory references to Isis. Hathor, Nebt-het, Sekmet/Bast and other Goddesses were demeaned only as aspects of Isis rather than the true Goddesses they are. In this and the History of Egypt, this book is lacking.
Wow, what Great Source Book on all things Isis.......2002-11-15
I am a Priestess Devoted to Isis and I have to say tht Ms Regula has outdone herself! If you like all things Isis and if you are interested in learning her Mysteries, Festivals, Magick, and New forms of Divination, this is the Book you need for your Library..She really gives some very true statements regarding initation and What it means to be a Priestess of Our Most Holy Queen Isis!

Nice Mix.......2001-12-09
This is one of my favorate books about the worship of Isis. The Aurthor is very close to her subject. She mixes history, current thougths, and her own ideas very well. The book is set up as hours of the day, and include sections on divination, meditations, healing, etc. It also makes a great reference book.

Doesn't Chocolate Cure Everything?.......2007-06-25
Bernie and Libby Simmons owner of "A Taste Of Heaven" have managed to humiliate themselves by coming in late, sitting in the third row and then have to leave when they realize they've come to the wrong funeral.
Things don't get any better when Clayton, the funeral director takes them on a ride out to a cemetary where he shows them a fresh dug grave, with a coffin containing the recognizable body of Ted Gorman. The strange part was Ted Gorman had died in a fiery car crash weeks earlier and had only been identified by the ring he was wearing, plus the grave should have contained the body of elderly Ms. McDougal.
Clayton's worried that if this gets out and people think it's his fault, his business will suffer, so he want the Simmons sisters to investigate.
With the help of Sean, their former chief of police father, Bernie and Libby try to unravel the mystery of why Teds body was in the wrong grave. Where was Ms McDougal and who died in the car crash, all the while, trying to get ready for the Valentine Day fundraiser.
Highlights
The four stars I've given this is the general rating I would give to this entire series so far. Each one has an interesting mystery, where Bernie, Libby and their father have to do some real investigation to solve the mystery. Just as in real investigations, not everything they check out has anything to do with the crime, just a dead end.
Libby - She's more of a homebody type, she stayed at home to help out in Taste Of Heaven after their mom died and has taken care of her father who is disabled, having to spend part of his time in a wheelchair. She doesn't like to to do anything out of her comfort zone, but will rise to the occasion.
Bernie - Returned home after catching her boyfriend in bed with her friend. I found Bernie an acquired taste. She knows everything and insists on telling everyone about every little bit of trivia that she has in her head. She's daring and unafraid of anything, and can run, fight and investigate all while wearing 4 inch heels.
Sean - The girls father, former chief of police. He's disabled and has to spend most of his time in a wheelchair. There's a story behind his illness and why he's not chief of police, but it's never fully explained in the books.
There is a lot of humor in these books. Marvin's driving, Bernie spouting off about some obscure bit of information at the most ridiculous times, Libby's addiction to chocolate, which she carries with her in many different forms and uses it to calm herself in stressful situations, which is why she's a size 12.
Lowlights
Marvin - Libby's boyfriend. He didn't start out as her boyfriend in the first book, but with Bernie pressuring her to go out with him because he's been in love with her since high school, he has over the course of the books become her permanent guy. Marvin would be considered a classic mama's boy, if his mother wasn't already dead. He's weak, scared of everything, clumsy and stupid. Bernie wouldn't go out with him if he was the last man on Earth, but she pushed and pushed Libby to date him as if Libby couldn't do better than this loser. I agree with Sean, who can't stand him.
Rob - Bernie's boyfriend. They met in the first book and have had a nice relationship up until now. For some reason the author has decided he's not the right guy and has turned him into a bum in this book. It very jarring to have someone who's been a nice guy throughout the books turn into a jerk out of the blue.
This seems to be happening more and more in mystery series, where the heroine gets stuck with some loser or outright jerk as her boyfriend, and you have to roll your eyes at their stupidity. If I wanted to read heart wrenching romance, I'd pick up a Harlequin.
Except for these minor issues, the mysteries are tight, the main characters and their extended family and friends are well written. A series worth picking up.
GOOD.......2007-03-10
I really liked it but it had 4 errors in it, that part upset me.
Great Book.......2007-02-18
This was a great book I have love all the others and this one stayed true to form
enjoyable amateur sleuth.......2006-12-31
The Simmons sisters Bernie and Libby are not having a good day. They are mortified to find out they have gone into the wrong funeral service room and when they try to find the right one, they run into the funeral home's director Clyde Hanson. Clyde is the father of Libby's beau so when he tells them to go with him, they do. They do not realize he is taking them to the indigent section of the local cemetery.
He opens up the coffin of a dug up grave and they find the body of Ted Gorman, who supposedly died in a fiery car crash; his widow Marne identified the body based on the ring he was wearing. The body of the person who was supposed to be there the reclusive Ms. McDougal is nowhere to be found. Both Clyde and Tom's widow Marne want the Simmons sister to find out what happened and why; Marne because she needs answers and Clyde because he doesn't want his business to be held culpable
Iris Crawford's latest mystery is an exciting and enjoyable amateur sleuth tale though one always must wonder why not a professional. Bernie finds her boyfriend is cheating on her and breaks off their relationship but she finds herself attracted to an old and dear friend. The ladies' father, the former chief of police helps them on the case and the scenes when Libby's boyfriend is driving them are hilarious. The case ends up involving two murders and the identity of the killer (s) will shock the reader. A CATERED VALENTINE'S DAY is a scintillating who done it.

Sprinkled with recipes! Who would have thought a mystery could be so delicious? Murder, mayhem and food, what a great combination. I have met the author and she is a great caterer with a terrific imagination.
A Catered Wedding: A Mystery with Recipes.......2006-11-10
Just started reading this author and have ordered her next book in this series. The books are so interesting you can't wait until the next one to come out and the recipes are an added bonus
How Did This Book Get Published?.......2006-07-26
This was the first book I'd read in this series by Isis Crawford, and based on this selection I won't read any others. Too many grammatical errors on nearly every page. It's distracting and sloppy. Even the story line, which initially has promise, gets lost at the end and just kind of filters out. This reads like a first draft, not like a polished novel.
Overshadowed by Errors.......2006-06-22
The 2nd installment in the Catered Mystery series found sisters Bernadette and Libby Simmons catering a wedding for "wallet-sniffer", Leeza Sharp. Leeza is marrying the baron of caviar, Jura Raid. She plans an expensive, elaborate wedding and instead of reveling in her beautiful nuptials, she is murdered. Leeza was definitely what many might call a "bridezilla", and few people were upset by her death. Bernadette and Libby jump in to find a murderer, and save themselves from being labeled the caterers that kill.
I very rarely have given a book a 2 star rating. I wanted to like this book. I read the reviews prior to purchasing the book, and thought that I could get past the grammatical errors, and uneven plot. I could not. I was highly disappointed with the massive amount of errors, and general lack of commas throughout the book. It was highly distracting, and I struggled to follow the dialogue. As a previous reviewer mentioned, I thought the premise was good. However, this was completely lost with all of the errors, and I will not be in a hurry to read any more books in this series.
The first book in the series was called "A Catered Murder". There are several other great culinary mysteries on the market, so if you like culinary mysteries, you may want to give those a try. A similar concept in catering mysteries (and very highly recommended) is the Diane Mott Davidson series. Enjoy!
Likable Sisters.......2006-04-08
This is the second novel in the series and I won't go through the story since you probably know it by now from reading the other reviews. I like the sisters, their totally different personalities makes it refreshing. I did not guess the murderer, which is saying something, because I'm usually pretty good at that so it was a plus. The only problem I had was one that has been mentioned and that was the poor grammatical errors throughout the book. You never know if it is the writer or the publisher's fault. I would like to ask Ms. Crawford to please find another word in place of "snort" or "snorted." I found it annoying that so many people were "snorting" their way through conversations......"he snorted," "she snorted,"...etc., etc. I think there were at least two "snorts" per chapter, maybe more but I didn't count them. This was the same for the first book, "A Catered Murder." I had fun with the characters...this was a light read and good for a day when you need to fill in some time. I will continue to read the books to see what relationship evolves between Libby and Marvin and if Sean (their father)will actually NOT be embarrassed to be seen in public in his wheelchair. His view on that has bothered me, and gives the hint that maybe disabled person's should be heard....not seen.

Customer Reviews:
A fun read!.......2007-01-18
Harriet Klausner always gives an excellent description of the storylines so I'll simply give my reactions to this book.
I finished it last night and I'm looking forward to seeing these characters again! I have very little time for reading lately but I couldn't put this one down. Lots of action..but it's easy to follow.
I like the sisters and especially their dad, Sean. The fact that the POV switches from sister to sister to dad was intriguing. I really liked it. The reader get's to know the characters though the eyes of the other main characters.
Sean's interaction with his daughters' boyfriends was very funny. Their investigative mission to search the victim's home was probably my favorite part of the book.
The characters in the "competition" were all hilarious and described in a manner that helped you keep them straight in your mind. If one of them wasn't based on a certain very popular "30 Minute" cooking television show I'll eat my keyboard. The victim was also very obviously based on a certain Domestic Diva. It was a real romp. I wish we'd seen more of the actual competition.
My quibbles would be the lousy editing. There were several times when "she" was used instead of "he" or vice versa. That kind of thing really stops the reader in her tracks. There were a couple of other errors but this was what really bothered me. I don't understand how such sloppy work gets through. I doubt it's the author. The problem is either with edit or set up. From reading reviews of her other books I see it's a pattern. Ms. Crawford needs to complain to the publisher loud and long.
Perhaps in an attempt to be attractive to all ages of readers, the ages of the sisters, Sean, and the contestants are not explained and that's something I like to have a handle on. There's a disconcerting conflict in the age description of one character, Pearl.
My only other complaint would be that the sisters seem to be too critcal of one another. At times they sound like my granddaughters, ages 11 and 9! If I want to be around that, all I have to do is drive my grands to ballet. While some conflict between two such diverse personalities is natural it goes a bit over the top at times.
It sounds as though I have a lot of complaints but they're all fairly minor. Except for a couple of instances of the girls quibbling I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'd read it again...and I recommend that you read it!
A Catered Christmas.......2007-01-16
You will enjoy this from start to finish. This is a fun read. The characters really come to life in this cooking related mystery. You will enjoy the interaction between the two sisters that end up investigating the murder. The recipes are great that are included with the book. A tasty treat in more ways than one!
Skip it.......2007-01-12
This 'mystery' is drab, slow moving, and all-around irritating. The main characters are hardly likeable and the plotline is quite unbelievable. Once I got far enough into the book to realize it is not going to pick up or become any more entertaining, I felt trapped into skimming the rest of it just to find out 'whodunnit.' Pass on this series!
lively and entertaining amateur sleuth .......2005-09-28
In the town of LONGLELEY, sisters Bernie and Libby own the store and catering service, A Little Taste of Heaven; they are so well known that they are invited to compete in a cook off on the Hortense Calabash show. Six caterers are given ingredients chosen by the hostess and are supposed to make an entire meal out of them. The winner gets twenty thousand dollars which is donated to their favorite charity. On the first day of taping, the contestants hear a noise; they rush in to find Hortense dead on the floor, a Christmas ornament wedged into her throat.
The police discover that the stove's gas line was cut and Christmas ornaments were placed in the oven. When she opened the door, the oven sparked a causing a mini explosion. The police agree to keep Hortense's death quiet while they and Bernie and Libby search for the killer. Although Libby and Bernie solved homicides in the past (see A CATERED MURDER and A CATERED WEDDING), this murder has them stumped because all the contestants had a reason to kill Hortense except themselves.
A CATERED CHRISTMAS is a lively and entertaining amateur sleuth mystery filled with plenty of red herrings, unexpected twists and turns and deliberately planted false clues. The two sisters and their father engage in witty dialogue that will have readers chuckling out loud. The plot is believable, the characters are portrayed realistically and there is enough action to keep readers turning the pages to find out what happens next.

Mildly entertaining .......2007-10-03
I'm a lover of cozy mysteries, so when I stumbled onto this series, I was hopeful that it would be entertaining. I just finished A Catered Murder and will probably read the next book in the series, but there are a few problems. The dialogue is often confusing. I can't tell which character is speaking. The grammatical errors detract from the story also. It has not really been explained what Sean's medical problem is. All in all, this book is mildly absorbing.
Good Read.......2006-02-13
Isis Crawford's first book is a good, easy read. The two sisters work well together and I especially enjoyed their father Sean, a former police officer, who being disable, is similar to a Perry Mason's "Ironside." The banter is light, but many, many editing mistakes which made it choppy reading in some areas, which I hope the editors will take note of next time. The Dracula theme was a little over done, but the cast of characters, overall, made this a delighful read. I never did figure out who the killer was on my own, a BIG plus. I can hardly wait to read the second book, "A Catered Wedding." The description of Libby's cooking made me hungry throughout the whole thing, but then bonus pages with all the recipes at the end of the book were very welcome.
A fun series!.......2006-01-30
This is an enjoyable series. The characters are fun in their own neurotic ways. Definitely a rising new author!
A very spicy cozy.......2005-08-25
Libby and her spunky younger sister are in the catering business in small town Longely, where crime never occurs... or does it? At a dinner in honor of local hero Laird Wrenn, author of famous vampire books, the odd author drops dead after drinking some water. Soon, Libby's best friend Tiffany becomes the prime suspect and Libby wants to do some amatuer detective work to clear her friend of the crime she's sure she didn't do, even though Tiffany confessed. Amusing characters pop out of the woodwork with a variety of motives, and another dead body appears along the way in this amusing and highly entertaining cozy. The action packed chapters kept my attention!
Entertaing mystery, but flawed..........2005-05-26
This book definitely is worth a read if you like culinary mysteries (and I do). However, I was surprised that the book was originally published in hard cover; it reads like a novice writer's paperback original. The characters are painted with a broad brush: the "not nice" people are really, really not nice, while the nice people are overly nice. The author overuses attribution, which can become annoying if you're a reader who likes good writing. Also, I find the lack of POV requires Ms. Crawford to use proper names in overabundance. Then there are the times I'm not really sure which of the sisters is speaking, because it sounds like one while being attributed to the other. Hmmmm. These are minor flaws when compared to the number of writers who shouldn't be allowed to string words together for money, but they are an irritant to someone who appreciates a skilled use of language. As a final insult, the recipes are for some of the most mundane dishes mentioned in the book. Read the paperback; it's entertaining and fun. But don't bother with the hard bound edition.
